  1. GM "A little? I mean, not really? I know a spell, yeah. Made it easy to find the old man's copy of the book when the old lady paid me to swipe it. But I don't know it that WELL. I can pretty much just do 'Yes/No', not any of the fancy Sherlock Holmes stuff. If some real wizard threw a fire bolt out here, I could find traces of that the next day, but I couldn't tell you what species of bat crap he used to fuel it or what country the cave was in where he scooped it up. And I think I've only used it maybe three times since I learned it. There's a lot of magic in this town, sure, but it's mostly in the hands of people like me who don't really know what we're doing with it. Some of the gangbangers here can cast real spells, and they STILL just use it sling dope on a street corner, 'cause that's just what kinda town this is. And I'm usually the one BRINGING the magic, not LOOKING for it. I know the books have some magic, that's why they're indestructible. The old lady's got some talismans hanging around, but it's mostly stuff I helped her make, and it's NOTHING, it's barely real. Good luck stuff, feng shui chi flow redirection, that kinda crap. Some of 'em are basically just scented air fresheners that you don't have to refill as often. The charm I left in your bathroom, I didn't make that one, I don't know who did, and I don't know what it was for exactly. I figured it was just a bad luck thing, or maybe like a magic firecracker, something to give you a little more encouragement to sell the book. She didn't tell me anything after, and I didn't ask. She got the book. Maybe you caved and decided to sell, maybe she hired a bigger gun than me to play Bad Cop, I didn't know, and, no offense, but I didn't give a damn. I got paid and I got laid. I CLEARLY didn't know who I was messing with, and I'M SORRY! Please don't kill me..."
  2. Corrosion 10 would definitely do the trick, though we'd need to flaw it to fit under the 20PP budget. Inanimate object at touch-range, so no need for an attack roll that I'm aware of, so we don't have to worry about the attack bonus, and we're capped at PL10. Alternate Power: [15PP] Drain Toughness 10 (Extras: Affects Objects, Linked [Damage]; Flaws: Action [Full]) [10PP] Damage 10 (Extras: Linked [Drain]; Flaws: Action [Full]) [5PP] Drain 10 drops steel bars down to Toughness 0, so they get 10 on the DC25 Toughness save and fail by 15, and they're not just Disabled, they're Destroyed entirely. At minimum, it took Octoman a move action to get into position and another move action to Elongate his tentacles, plus whatever time it took tanking the ball, so it would probably take Spectre the same amount of time (a move action to get into position and a full action to use the power stunt), about a round and a half, or roughly 9 seconds.
  3. @Darksider42 If those bars are really iron or steel, than they're Toughness 8-10. Inanimate objects generally automatically take 10 on Toughness saves, so they'll get 18-20 against that DC24, only taking an Injury for the first several hits. The specific example the book gives for a Disabled result against something like a wall is making a hole big enough for a person to walk through. So doing it like that will probably take Spectre almost a full minute. You might want to stunt a Corrosion effect to bust through it instantly, or an Affects Others Insubstantial effect to pull the guy out.
  4. Octoman's Toughness save (DC19): 29.
  5. Mister Strix: 2PP to spend (according to the original post in this thread; his character sheet does not appear to have been updated to reflect that). Add 2PP to his second Regeneration power (the one which boosts recovery rate), making it look like this: Regeneration 22 (Recovery Rate: Injured 6 [No rest], Disabled 8 [No rest], Resurrection 8 [1 round], Flaws: Limited [Vampire Weaknesses inflict Incurable damage; Requires outside aid to Resurrect if decapitated, staked through the heart, incinerated, dissolved, or disintegrated]) [11PP]
  6. Super Scripted by EP Octoman: 3PP to spend. Add 1PP worth of Skills: +2 ranks in Knowledge (Current Events) +2 ranks in Knowledge (Physical Sciences) Add 2PP worth of Feats: Skill Mastery (Acrobatics, Bluff, Computers, Notice) Ultimate Skill (Computers) Please update the superscript notes on his Skills as follows: Acrobatics 3 (+15/+5)Skill Mastery Bluff 15 (+20)Skill Mastery, Taunt Computers 15 (+20)Second Chance, Skill Mastery, Ultimate Skill Notice 5 (+15/+5)Skill Mastery, Deafened
  7. Regenerated by EP Persephone: 3PP to spend. Invest 3PP more into her Regeneration power and break it in half, making it look like this: Regeneration 1 (Recovery Rate: Bruised 1 [1 round]) [1PP] (Descriptors: Alien, Plant Body) Regeneration 12 (Recovery Rate: Bruised 2 [3, No rest], Injured 6 [No rest], Staggered 1 [20 minutes], Disabled 2 [1 hour], Resurrection 1 [1 week]; Flaws: Source [Sunlight]; Feats: Regrowth) [7PP] (Descriptors: Alien, Cutting, Plant Body) (As she earns more points, I'll move more of the Bruised and Injured ranks out of the Source-flawed half and into the always-on half.)
  8. @Heritage @Fox Hopefully the following should be good to copy/paste onto the crunch half of Torque's final sheet. I added the calculations for stuff like her Initiative modifier, Knockback Resistance, and some of the skills, and I reformatted the powers derived from Density and Growth. I threw everything that I'd normally just indent into quote-boxes, because that's formatting that copy/pasting won't destroy, unlike indents. Reformat it however you want if that doesn't work for you. Just be aware that anything you indent will un-indent when you copy/paste it. The Enhanced Stealth was purchased to buy off the Growth penalty, to reflect "stealth mode" modifications made to the vehicle and giant robot forms. Because an issue was made of the 8th rank, since that would push her to 15 ranks total, I pushed the 8th rank over to Intimidate instead. Feel free to put it somewhere else if you want. I dropped the 16th rank of Enhanced Swim in the aquatic vehicle movement AP for the same reason. I couldn't think of a different skill to buy with that last rank, maybe you can. 9. Octoman "That's the theory, yeah. I mean, I didn't have powers before I got bit, and I had 'em after, so it'd be, like, the freakin' Gigantosaur of coincidences if they were just totally unconnected. But it wasn't a normal octopus. The truck that hit me had a whole buncha animals, all super-poisonous. The labcoats at ASTRO caught a couple of 'em, and they said they were radioactive and their DNA was messed with BIGTIME. Big mad-scientist lizard-dude probably still tryin' to find a cure for bein' a big lizard-dude. Most of 'em got away when the truck crashed. They're probably still crawlin' around in the sewers under us." Ben looked down at the ground and waved. "Hiii Poisonous Radioactive Death-Monsters!" He looked back up at Heroditus. "But the poison still shoulda killed me, so maybe I got somethin' else goin' on, dunno." He shrugged. "What, cannibal turtles? Nah, man, that's just on Wikipedia." He held up his smartphone, showing a browser window with a Google search for "cannibal tortoise". "See? Wait...you thought I was SERIOUS about EATING YOU? Dude. DUDE. Like you said, CHILL. Joke. Sarcasm. Verbal irony. HA-HA."
  10. No preference on order of operations, whatever's most convenient.
  11. Knowledge (Arcane) check with Jack of All Trades: 8. Nope. He's got +15 Search, so if he can take 10, he gets 25. Definitely taking a drink from the bad guy to use Mind Reading and Postcognition. Let me know if you want any rolls for the latter. Mind Reading check (opposed by Will save): 27.
  12. GM Dale King continued to sputter as he dangled in Sekhmet's grasp. "How long...I dunno, a few months, maybe a year! She's just some lonely old broad with more money than brains! Her and her husband, they were big into the scene! Seances, card readings, astrology, every kinda woo-woo horse crap under the sun! And she got MORE into it after he croaked! Yeah, I've been to the place dozens of times! It's like half the mansions on that hill, got gutted and converted to apartments years ago! None of those old farts are as rich as they look! She keeps the penthouse to herself, rents out the rest! I've never been in the other apartments, never met any of the tenants, but I heard 'em, the walls aren't that thick! 'SECURITY?' This ain't Freedom City! There's no goddamned SECURITY! Elevator needs a key to get up to her place, different key to get down to the basement, locks on the doors, that's it!"
  13. Octoman Reaction: Octoman burns another Hero Point to stave off the Fatigue from last round's Extra Effort. That's 2HP down, and he started at 4HP, so unless he earned some I've forgotten about, that leaves him at 2HP. Free Action: Octoman maintains the grapple against Angela. Move Action: Octoman attempts to Taunt Gabe. Bluff check: 21. If that works, then he's Shaken for 1 round (-2 to all rolls, including saving throws). Standard Action: Octoman inflicts his Strength damage on Angela. That's a DC25 Toughness save.
  14. Octoman Octoman saw Angela's lips move while his tentacles dragged her into the geyser, but he didn't bother trying to parse what she was saying. He caught a few stray words, like boyfriend and dick. "Sorry, what was that? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" He laughed and shifted her slightly so that Angela's face was directly in the path of the rushing water for a few moments. Then he twisted her face away from the water to face him again. "Could you repeat that?" Before she had a chance to reply, he turned her face back into the geyser. "Y'all don't act like your parents raised you right, so we're goin' OLD SCHOOL, washin' that dirty talk RIGHT outta yer mouth." OUCH. I mean, sure, I know if she ever saw the real me she'd throw up, but damn, just puttin' it out there, that's cold. He smelled the incoming jet of acid before he saw it, just barely ducking under it as it passed. "TOO SLOW!" C'mon, Mia, pull your weight! Not much I can do against Fartboy over there unless I can trick him into chasing me into a freezer and, like, standing there for a while. Let's just call that "Plan B." But maybe if he's paying more attention to me than you... He looked up at Gabe. "Oh hey, did that make you mad? Oh man, then you're gonna love THIS..." His tentacles raised Angela a few feet higher into the air, and then smashed her back down onto the ground, further widening the crater around the spot where the fire hydrant had stood. *SLAM* "Bee-tee-dubs, the Sensational Cephalopod ain't NOBODY's 'boyfriend'." *SLAM* "The Crime-Fighting Kraken's a FREE SPIRIT, ya dig?" *SLAM* "Can't be TIED DOWN. Lots of fish in the sea, know what I mean?" You can't fire me if I quit first! ROLLSAFE.GIF *SLAM*
  15. I might be misreading them, or the last couple of IC posts might need a bit of editing. Octoman never let go of Angela. Until she escapes the grapple (see the house rules), or something else breaks his ability to take the free action each round to maintain the grapple, she's still physically Helpless. So she can power down, sure, but she can't run away.
  16. Octoman will use Extra Effort for a new AP on his main array, to get his Additional Limbs, Elongation, and Insubstantial going all at once, sacrificing a few ranks of Super-Strength to make room for the Insubstantial. Then he'll put himself in the path of the ball, reach out with Elongated tentacles to anchor himself to as many different fixed points as possible (if the terrain allows for it, he'll wrap the tentacles around something, but otherwise he'll just use Wall-Crawling to stick to whatever surfaces he can find), and try to stop the ball as if he were using his fluid body to catch a falling object. Assuming he can use this mechanic, his effective Toughness is either +10 or +8, depending on whether or not you think his +2 Toughness from Defensive Roll should count. If he can't use this mechanic, then he's basically just Interposing and tanking the damage from the ball.
  17. Octoman After the giant ball passed him by, Octoman re-inflated his body, peeled himself off the wall, and sent a stretchy tentacle shooting down the hallway. As soon as it found solid purchase, he retracted it, pulling his body down the hallway. When he came around the corner, he took a moment to admire the enormous pinball table that the room had been converted into. "Whoa...shiny..." Then he saw the caged man, and the ricocheting ball. "Uh oh." He jumped and flipped and tentacle-ziplined across the room until he was standing in front of the cage. Then his tentacles shot out in all directions, wrapping around and sticking to whatever purchase they could find. He pulled the tentacles taut, but relaxed every other part of his body, hanging limp in the oncoming ball's path. His face twisted into a cringe. "This is gonna suck...oh man not in the face, not in the face, not in the...wait a sec, I don't have any bones!" His head twisted around 180 degrees, and he laughed. "HAH! NOT IN THE FACE!"

@Thevshi Were you wanting to pick this one back up, or...?
  19. Where are we at on this one?
  20. @angrydurf @KnightDisciple @Tiffany Korta Poke.
  21. @alderwitch @Gizmo Poke.
  22. @Gizmo @Heritage @trollthumper Poke. We're not in a strict order here. Anyone can post.
  23. @RocketLord Camellia's reputation tables are at the bottom of Persephone's guidebook page. With her full name and professional details, Marcus can do basic online searches and get most of the information listed there, even with his low-to-nonexistent bonuses in the relevant skills.
  24. Persephone "Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit, that answers that question. He really hasn't figured it out yet. I know I should be relieved, since that means the disguise is working. If he can't tell after working right next to me, then John and Susie Q. Public certainly have no idea. Hmmm...then again, let's face it, Marcus isn't exactly Sherlock Holmes." She grinned. "No, his talents lie elsewhere. I should be relieved, but I'm...disappointed? A little. But that's not fair to him, is it? Can't hold it against him if he's losing at a game he didn't even know he was playing. And he doesn't seem like the game-playing type anyway. No, what you see is what you get. That's part of what I liked about him in the first place, remember? Oh well. If I was a snake, I woulda bit him..." She smirked. "...And if things go well, I still might." She pulled a couple of old photos up from her cloud storage account and typed up a new message. "I think I can thread this needle and keep the game going for a little while longer. Can't outright lie to him, but can't spoil the surprise either. Let's put some more cards on the table and see if he thinks Camellia's as much of a catch as I'd like to think she is." Well, you're not a patient, and I haven't had the most active social life lately, so, not to toot my own horn too loudly, but it could be something from my modeling days. Fun for a while, but not what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Sure took a bite out of that medical school tuition, though. ? The new message had a few attached images, all of which appeared to be pictures taken with a cell phone. One showed a billboard displaying an advertisement for a major brand of perfume. Another showed a pile of magazines on a table, the top one open to a two-page spread advertising a well-known brand of Italian luxury sports car. Both ads featured Camellia prominently. The last image was a picture of a feminine hand holding up a business card for a local private psychiatry practice, owned and operated by a "Dr. Camellia Blume".
