ic Vibora Bay: Even The Mere Reports Of Such (IC)
RocketLord replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Americas
CHEVAL "You should probably listen to that." Francis didn't even bother to look up from his plate, slowly and carefully cutting his turkey. Marcus sighed and put down his utensils, because of course, Francis was right. Just once it would be nice to have a meal in peace, even on Thanksgiving. John was with his girlfriend, so Francis had invited Marcus to join his family, after all, the former boxer was almost part of the family. Standing up, Marcus had listened to the message. The Woodsman was as short and to the point as ever, but then again, Marcus doubted he would reach out if it wasn't necessary. Putting the phone down, Marcus apologized to Francis and his family. At least Francis usually kept a spare uniform around. --- Of course he wasn't nearly as fast as the Speed Demon, but still, Cheval was far from slow, as he jumped through the city. He quickly picked up the Speed Demon's fiery trail, which at least helped him find the others. Landing heavily a short distance away, shortly after Persephone arrived, his shining metal form quickly shrunk into regular old Marcus Dumont as he approached, his arms stretched out to his sides, his face split into a giant smile. "Greetings, my friends. It is good to see you all again!" He was sure that someone else had to have asked about the issue already, so instead, he just waited for the Woodsman to explain himself.- 49 replies

GM "Oh, its alright, don't worry about it," Rita smiled. She had to be a better actor than Nicole, since it barely looked like she was forcing the friendly smile on her lips. She shook her head and took a long sip from the big mug of coffee in her hands. She looked over at the building, where the changed rats were still being carried out in hazmat containers. She seemed entirely absent for a moment. She shuddered at the sight, before turning her attention back to Nicole. "It wasn't like there was anything you could do anyway, and it all worked out in the end, didn't it? Everyone but Guy is safe, the infected rats are about to be destroyed, and I'm pretty sure that the board isn't about to let us move on to human testing any time soon, right?" Her voice had slowly grown sharper, harder. She took another sip of the cup of coffee. "Honestly, you leaving me there was probably for the best, wasn't it? Who knows what would have happened if those rats had gotten to you? I guess I could say that you played your part perfectly."

GM "Fightin' smart's not a loss, kid." TKO obviously didn't agree with Facsimile's view of the entire situation. He disappeared again, then the floor itself snapped up and tried to catch Facsimile, only just missing him. The look in Bear-Knuckle's eyes said everything. If he had been pissed before, then now all bets were off. With a howl he threw himself at Facsimile's now human form, swinging his massive clawed arms at the hero with all the force he could muster. Facsimile could just about hear a curse from TKO before Bear-Knuckle collided with him, with all the power and fury of his namesake. Both Heavyweight and Fly-Boy tried to help, but unlike their would-be leader, they didn't seem quite up to the task, getting in close. They missed, but they were all up close now.

GM Sunburn danced past Technaux's shot, laughing heartily as she did so. "Missed me, missed me!" As bad as her own aim was, she at least seemed like she was good at evading as well. For his part, Metamind cursed loudly, the Emerald Spider's quantum webbing entangling him, quickly giving up on struggling against it and instead glaring at the Emerald Spider. His eyes glowed with a powerful blue shine, and with a yell he hurled a wave of blue energy from his face in the Emerald Spider's general direction, the blast passing by her and dissolving harmlessly as it hit a building.

GM "I know what you are thinking." The voice that came from behind the men was deep. Every word sounded like it was spoken with precision and purpose, the tone hard and determined. "If only I could turn into something else." The man that approached was tall. Every step he made echoed with a metallic sound as he stepped across the ship, placing a hand on the shoulder of one of the soldiers to approach Chromium and his father. He was clad in the same uniform as the other men, but with no sleeves. His arms shined in the light, a dark silver. His face, any kind of visible skin, it was the same. His eyes were silver, he was bald. In many ways, if not for his decidedly African-American features, the man looked a lot like Chromium himself. Even Screwtop had gone silent now, his mouth slightly agape as he stared between his son and the commander. "You stole something important, son. Did you really think that nobody would ever come looking for you?" He didn't seem to be wearing any weapons, but then again, neither did Chromium.

GM Some muffled yells could be heard from inside the cabin as she jumped back, then frantic sounds of movement from all over the ship, more yelling, more noise of movement. Whoever these pirates were, it didn't sound like they had some way of staying in touch with each other, no radios or phones or anything like that. It wasn't long before Torpedo Lass found herself facing at least twenty pirates, all positioning as well as they could, but with little actual tactics. There were several gaps in their ranks, several spaces where she could slip through if need be, and none between her and the ship's nose and the sea. The captain, the woman with the dreadlocks and eyepatch, approached, holding her right hand up, hand open, with a cutlass in her left hand. She smiled, as she stared at Torpedo Lass. "Parley, you say? An' what good woul' that do us?" She laughed. A deep, hearty laugh. "We're here for riches, lass! Maybe some fun!" The other pirates roared in agreement. "What can you offer that's greater than the riches on this ship, lass?"

At the entrance, the cave is about 33 feet wide and 13 feet tall, so there's not a lot of room for flying over someone's head. It seems to slowly be getting more narrow, at least as far into the darkness you can see. At the point where Judy could see the flickering burning particle on the ultraviolet spectrum, its gone down to about 8 or 9 feet from floor to ceiling, and a width at around 20 feet. The height seems to stay relatively stable further in, but it does seem to continue to grow more narrow.

GM "Keep the gun down," Macedon said, motioning with his hand to Ashley, but without telling her to put it away. The sandstorm was still raging outside, sand starting to fly into the cave. The ones at the edge of the cave could feel the wind by now. He seemed to be thinking of what to do, but all of that was obviously ruined when Pan made his move. He just stared, his one eye open as the golden trail disappeared into the darkness of the cave, then turned to the students. "Great. Flyboy do stuff like that often?" He put his backpack down in front of himself and dug into it, soon producing a revolver and a flashlight, taking it in his hand and holding it up before fastening his backpack again. "Everyone stick together, got it? We not no idea what these caves are like, and I don't care how fast you kids are, I'm not gonna lose anyone else. Use whatever you got, make some light, be on guard for whatever it is that Miss Smith is seeing. Lanchester, you take point. Everyone watch each other's back." The faint trail of Pan's pixie dust remained behind, ready to be followed...

Forever Boy "Do you hear that?" Pan asked the others, while he stared into the darkness. He could swear it was something. A voice. Someone calling for help. "There is someone in there!" he announced, pointing into the darkness that Judy had just told them had some kind of weird sandstorm thing inside it. Anyone else with any kind of enhanced hearing would be able to hear the same thing, the voice of a little girl calling out for help, stopping and sniffling, then continuing. Pan looked around at the others for a moment. Monster or no, whatever it was that Judy could see, it didn't really matter at all to him! There was a child in there, in the big unknown, and she needed help! "Sorry, my friends!" He at least acknowledged what he was about to do was probably foolish, but he did it anyway, throwing himself off the ground and flying into the darkness with a golden trail of Pixie Dust flowing behind him.

The Moon. He was actually gonna go to the freakin' Moon. Connor zoned out a bit, just staring at the spaceship as Rachel explained. He caught the gist of it, at least. Some kinda thing that'd let him use his bow and arrow up there, despite the lesser gravity. Suits should be able to take a hit. Good enough for him. He'd insisted on stowing an extra bow and extra arrows in the supplies. Something to fall back on, if he ended up losing his current gear. He shook his head and slowly stepped closer to the spaceship, holding his bow in one hand, before he turned back to the others, a genuine grin spread over his lips. "C'mon, I can't be the only one here that's excited about going to the Moon," he asked. Stuff like that might be normal, every day events to everyone else, but not to him. Going into space, shooting arrows at bad guys on the Moon. Yeah, not really what he had expected when he signed up to help Corona, but he wasn't complaining.

Pan grumbled again, thinking it over. "Something being a story does not make it not real," he finally concluded, returning to his usual grin. "Even if it might not be realistic, yes?" He had honestly thought that the non-fantastic movies of this world might at least be based on real events. Of course, the Star Wars and Treks, the stories of Rings and magic swords and all that, now that was probably not real, or at best something along the lines of his own world's connection to this strange world he found himself in, but in this, he had been betrayed. He sat himself in mid-air again, leaning his hands on his knees and leaning forward to smile at Micah. He hadn't given up quite yet. He would help his friend, one way or another. "Yes, something is certainly up with the sisters, would you not say so? The older sister certainly has some peculiar ideas and stances at times." He nodded thoughtfully to himself once more. "They are refugees from another world, here with nothing but the grant from the foundation that helps people such as us, should she not be happy to see her younger sister and boy with wealth like Leroy get together? Ashley has other reasons, I believe, but I am afraid that I know little beyond that." Another thought. He remembered their journey into dreams. "She did have a peculiar reaction to seeing the Raven, of all people, in a dream of our greatest nightmares..." Pan shook his head, shaking the thoughts away. "But that is not important right now!" he concluded, once more focusing on Micah. "So, your world, and romance. If the movies have lied to me," he made sure to dramatically emphasize the word lied, "then, if you were in love with someone in a relationship, how should you act? Make your feelings known? Keep it all bottled inside and hope it fades? Plan a daring scheme to convince your love to choose you?"

GM Octoman's yelling had their intended effect. After a second of staring at the strange man (and a kid or two yelling "It's OCTOMAN!"), the few people in the food court all seemed to get up and start running for whatever exits and away from the balls. By the time Archer and Spectre had changed into their costumes, the last few patrons had left the area through the various emergency exits that Octoman had knocked up. The balls kept rolling around, but no more joined them, while someone shouted "Aw, man! What a drain!" from around the corner, before the hurried sound of someone running down the escalator could be heard. Whoever it was, he was certainly in a hurry. If the heroes followed, they would see a bald man in a light blue 1970'es style suit running through the mall, people splitting away from him as he got too close.

Archer II What was that sound? Ting, ting, ting, like something metallic being dropped on the floor, one by one. Reaching down for his bag with one handed, Connor looked around, spotting the small metallic balls that had begun rolling around the floor. This was it. The things that had been found where everyone had disappeared. Small metallic balls, but never in this number. The other times, only one or two people had been taken, but all of these balls, and in somewhere this public... did the kidnapper mean to take everyone all at once? He didn't have time to think about it anymore when someone started shouting about balls. A yellow, black and blue jumpsuit, with tentacles lashing out everywhere, setting off alarms, opening doors. And shouting about balls. Some kind of hero, probably. At least he was drawing attention away from him. He quickly reached into his bag and pulled out first his red mask and red and white jacket, putting them on one after another and pulling up the zipper for the jacket, then went for his bow and quiver, quickly getting up from the table, securing the quiver over his shoulder as he approached the guy screaming about balls and the girl that had joined him. They obviously knew each other, so hopefully, they were both heroes. "Stop the yelling." It wasn't really a command, but there was some bite to his tone. Everyone but them were running already, no need to keep yelling. "They're coming from around the corner. One of you take point and I'll back you up." Names weren't important right this moment. He motioned with his head to direction of the corner he had heard the TING noises coming from, while reaching for his quiver and pulling out an arrow to put on his bow, to emphasize his point. Just a stun arrow. Nothing too dangerous.

Pan gave an approving nod, floating around in the air behind Davyd and Adam as they looked like they were just about ready to compete on who could give Lulu the best compliments, but Pan decided to leave it at that. Yes, yes, Lulu was very pretty, but there was adventure to be had! He moved past and around Lulu and Davyd, grimacing at the strange man with tentacles for a beard, a claw for a hand and a crab leg, and a decided pale color. "I liked the parrot better." Probably some sort of reference that he did not get. Instead, he moved to Veronica, smiling and making a small bow. He should probably have changed in something more practical too, but he was fine with the set he had been wearing since their arrival. "You look all ready for some danger." He couldn't help himself. He was still in awe of her name. "Where to next?"

Justice "It's way cool." Robin couldn't help herself. The grin was spreading from ear to ear again as she looked at the Meta-Naut, then gestured for her to follow by waving over her shoulder and moving back into the garage that they had first entered through. "From what I've seen so far, you can breathe just fine out there, no instant decompression or anything. But still..." She reached down and flicked her amulet into her belt. It started glowing, she pressed the activation button, and bits and pieces of her armor flew to her from the stands around her, until she was fully covered. "Better safe than sorry. It's weird out there." She stradled her bike and looked over at the Meta-Naut, her wide grin hidden behind her helmet. "You want a ride, or are you good with flying?" After the Meta-Naut had replied, she flicked a switch on a remote built into her armor and the gate started rolling up, revealing a strange sight to the Meta-Naut. Once they were outside, the Meta-Naut and Justice would find themselves on what appeared to be a giant floating rock, with a metallic structure behind them, a sort of watchtower placed firmly in the middle of the space that surrounded them. A swirling pattern of colors filled the around them, debris of various kinds floating all around the space that surrounded. Rocks like the one that they were currently on, metallic structures, other dimensional vessels. They were few and far between, but there were certainly things out there in Z-Space. In their immediate surroundings, they could see a rocky plain that stretched out into the horizon. To the right, a large rock, the size of a mountain. "It's not really rock," Justice mentioned, gesturing to the things below them. "Some kinda metal, actually. I mined some to use for my sword and parts of my armor. It's kinda weird."
