  1. @Tiffany Korta How about that initiative?
  2. Sounds good, given your powers, you should be able to do that. Gimme an IC.
  3. Justice Of course Robin couldn't suppress her grin. She tapped the big purple-pink round stone in the middle of her belt. "This one right here." She'd only brought one other person to Z-Space so far, but maybe it was a good idea to bring someone else too? Show off a bit, work on getting some more friends, right? She'd done her fair share of team ups so far, Emerald really did have more heroes in it than she'd first known, but they all seemed rather disorganized, didn't they? "It's not really something I made on my own, but it's a good power source, and, y'know, its a pretty interesting place." She touched it, clicking one of the buttons on her belt to open a small portal. Sticking her hand inside, she quickly pulled out her Shock Blaster. "Makes storage easy, right?" She didn't even notice the worry that the Meta-Naut had felt, she was just too excited about meeting another hero.
  4. Justice Huh. Robin gave the Meta-Naut a sort of odd look, her brows furrowing like she were in deep thought, her eyes quickly scanning over the badge, then running all over the Meta-Naut's body, or at least her armor and equipment. One could almost hear the wheels turning in her head as she studied it. This was amazing. She'd been working hard on trying to get something small and wearable that could summon her armor, but this little badge was, well, beyond anything she'd made. She'd settled for her belt, and then using the portals from her amulet, but the Meta-Naut had just been given this and wasn't even sure how it worked? Lucky! Robin would simply have to try and find out more about it and how it worked! "That's awesome!" She skipped completely over Meta-Naut's statement about it being embarassing, her eyes fixated on the amulet. "I mean, I guess I technically breaks some laws of physics with these portals, but that's not really something I made myself either, but aside from that, my tech's pretty conventional compared to yours. Just lots of different parts." She put on a wide grin as she placed her hands behind her head and looked up at the sky. So, Meta-Naut's tech was from another dimension. That was pretty cool. "So, another dimension, huh?" She looked around quickly, then leaned in closer and whispered conspiratorially. "Ever been between the different dimensions?"
  5. @Avenger Assembled @Thunder King @TheAbsurdist @secondling Alright, been two weeks. Anyone and everyone, how about a post? Order really doesn't matter right now.
  6. GM The figure at the other end of the area perked up at the sound of someone shouting, frantically looking around, even if he obviously couldn't see anything through the bag over his head. As Chromium came closer, he could clearly see the bruises, cuts and burns on the man. Obviously, someone had been working him over. The man made some muffled noises from under the bag. It sounded like he was gagged in there, not just bound and blindfolded. It was a protesting sound, like he was trying to get his would-be rescuer to back away, or maybe to warn his captors? Who knew?
  7. All out of Hero Points, then!
  8. Forever Boy - Dorm Roof Punk rock viking chick? Floating over by the roof, Pan looked down, then turned to Ben with a grin. "Ah, yes, that would be Astrid. Daughter of some thunder god or something like that, I believe. She is good on the guitar, too." Then back to Micah, Claude and the stories, leaving a flutter of glowing Pixie Dust behind. "The Krampus was interesting, most of the school came together to take him down." He pointed out to the spot where the Krampus had been walking, where students had been flying all around him, crawling on him or just tried to stop him. "Quite a big guy, was quite violent with that tree he picked up. I wonder if he will show up for Christmas again this year." He turned to Micah, a great big grin on his lips. "What do you say, Micah? Fancy a second round with the big guy?"
  9. GM The cameras seemed to be pointed at just about any angle in the room. It was clear that it wasn't going to be easy for Chromium, whether that was his father or not. Slipping under the cameras could be possible, but they moved, shifting their perspective, and often, they would turn to look at other cameras. If he was fast, then perhaps he could slip under them, but it would take timing and preparation. Moving under the floor be difficult. It seemed to be the hull of the ship, but it might be possible to move between the cars with the right timing, taking time between each movement and wait for the cameras to turn away. Of course, it would require the exact timing between several different cameras. Whoever had set this up was professional.
  10. If you try to be stealthy, even in puddle form, I'll need a stealth check, of course.
  11. Justice "That's cool, my armor just gets kinda clunky, and hey, I got the perfect storage, so why not use it? And I got kinda tired of just wearing jeans and t-shirts with a domino mask, so hey, heroes need costumes, right?" She picked up the helmet stored on the bike and put it on. Safety and all that. Reving her bike once, she turned to wave at the officers before heading down the street, motioning with her head for Meta-Naut to follow. It really wasn't far, just a block or two, so it wasn't long before she could pull over and get off the bike. Storing the helmet on the bike again, she motioned for the Meta-Naut to land. "Here, watch this. Best bike lock ever!" Turning to her belt, she touched the big pink-purple gem in the center of it once, and a large purple portal appeared in front of the bike, which then drove into it, before the portal disappeared again. "Neat, right?" She was pretty proud of this, and she really didn't get to show her stuff off to other heroes. "So how about you? Your gear's advanced, built it all yourself, or do you have genius inventor as backup?"
  12. Gussied them up -TA Justice A new pic to replace the old one, and updated appearance description. Robin is slender, her body honed by years of gymnastics. Her dark brown hair reaches her shoulders and is almost always worn loose. She has green eyes and wears glasses. She will usually dress casually, preferring t-shirts with prints or logos of cartoon characters, dragons and so on. As Justice, Robin wears a dark red suit with her Justice Driver belt. The upper body part of the suit has a tall collar with bright pink trim, which connects to a pink zipper that goes to Robin's right shoulder and down over her right breast to the center of her belt. She has a classic, heraldic lion in pink over her left breast, using it as a logo. Her sleeves end in bright pink trim at her wrists, while she wears grey gloves that leave the back of her hand bare, with a pink trim in a square shape. She wears light grey boots that ends about halfway up her lower leg in a W-shape, with the trim and soles being bright pink. To protect her identity, she wears a dark red domino mask with white lenses, in the same color as the costume. Activating the Justice driver causes her armor to appear: A dark red suit with purple-pink power lines running up the arms and down the legs from the belt buckle of the Justice Driver belt, with grey metal plating on the chest and shoulders. Her arms and legs are wrapped in dark grey and purple armor, with similar armor plating as the chest area. Her helmet has silver armor plating on the side and two small antenna on top, and a silver armor plate over her mouth, with large purple-pink one-way lenses over her eyes. Robin has also added red scarf in a brighter color to the rest of the armor.
  13. REBELLION Someone else approached, and with the copy of the Courier-Express landing between Rebellion and Meta-Naut, it seemed quite clear what their intent was. Rebellion looked up, his bright white eyes flickering from the newspaper on the ground to... well, he wasn't quite sure what he was seeing. A vaguely humanoid green and blue crystal rock. It seemed to be wearing some kind of crown, and it had glowing green eyes, like there was a green flame burning in them. Honestly, his first reaction was to take a step back. It looked like a monster, but then again, so did he. Didn't seem like it was here for a fight. He followed its movements and tried to understand what it was saying as it pointed out the man that had been marked with flames and an anchor. A friend? Smoke rising from its fingers? And then, hands being offered. "Alright." He accepted one of the thing's big hands. "I'm Rebellion." He pointed with the thumb of his free hand to his companion. "That's the Meta-Naut." It didn't seem like it could speak, but still, it felt odd to call it "it" or "the creature" or anything like that. "What can I call you?"
  14. Marcus shook the Dragonner's firmly, like his father had taught him. A firm handshake didn't need to crush the other man's hand, but should be firm enough to let him know you were not scared, either. "Ha, like I would let you have Omega to yourself if he dared show up here!" Bravado, sure, but part of him wondered about just that. There was something else that he focused on, however, perhaps something uncharacteristic for him. "The University of Miami, you say? What is she studying?" Interesting, the Dragoneer didn't seem nearly old enough to have a daughter at that age, at least not if he hadn't become a father during his early teens. Marcus supposed that could have happened, but he somehow doubted it. "What does she think about it? My brother is attending the University of Florida Vibora Bay."
  15. Justice Well, this wasn't exactly the most difficult thing that Robin had done since putting on her first armor. Seemed kind of mundane compared to some of the other stuff she'd been through, really. She let go of her rocket hammer, letting it fall into a purple portal that should it back to the AnneX. First test run for the new Z-Space arsenal had proven to be pretty good, then! Stepping down from her bike, she was already recalling bits and pieces of her armor, with the heavy armor on top detaching and disappearing into small purple portals, much like her weapons had. She looked up as the Meta-Naut descended and commented her tech, and under the armor, she was positively glowing! And the Meta-Naut knew about her! Awesome! And... yeah, it was pretty obvious she knew who the Meta-Naut was, wasn't it? "Ah, yeah, sorry about that. Y'know how it is when you see one of your heroes, right?" And she wanted to ask about her setup and tech? Robin could almost squee. She had done so before, but she fought the urge this time. "That sounds great! There's this little great place nearby, local coffee shop, none of that corporate stuff!" Not that she minded corporate stuff or anything, but, y'know, the other was better. "Lemme just slip out of the armor." She reached for her belt and pressed a button. With a sound like something deflating, the pink gem in the middle of the gem faded in color, and small purple portals opened up all around Robin, bits and pieces of her armor flying off her into them before leaving her her dark red undersuit, with a pink zipper going over her right breast and up to the high collar, an old-timey pink lion on the left breast, grey boots and gloves with pink trim, and of course, a dark red domino mask to keep her identity secret, with her long brown hair falling down her back. She quickly mounted her bike again. "Alright, ready when you are."
  16. Archer II Liteshow did something and Connor jumped for his life to get out of the way of the energy blades. Freaking super powers. Of course it had to be freaking super powers. And then, Roadkill coming in from out of nowhere and mouthing off. Striking at Hologram, but little effect. He winced at the sight of Roadkill being picked up and thrown against the force field, the crunch and the sizzling sound. It had to hurt, and badly too. Part of him honestly didn't mind, Roadkill was just pissing him off, but she was still in the game. Couldn't have that. "Hey brats, show some respect." He reached back and pulled out a particular arrow. Didn't want to kill anyone, after all. The arrow in question had a boxing glove secured at the end, and as he started circling around to get a better shot and avoid them all being grouped together for Liteshow to take another shot at if he got free from Mamba. "Hey, glowstick! Watch this!" Don't hurt the homicidal speedster. Right. He let the boxing glove arrow fly, striking straight at Roadkill's face to knock her out. Not that he doubted Hologram's abilities to keep her there, of course, but she was just pissing him off. And plus, he'd piss off Liteshow with that move. Win win.
  17. GM Yes, it seemed Moira was very much the one she wanted. Moving like lightning, the gorgon moved from the mists. "Yes! You are mine, godling!" She sounded triumphant that the poison on her arrows had done the trick and weakened her prey. Moira could see the gorgon's eyes as she came closer, shining with an unnatural light. The question was whether she would be able to look away in time, or if it was too late?
  18. Opposed by Bluff: 12 You've tricked her, despite the atrocious acting. She moves in close from out of the mists and tries to turn you to stone! Reflex Save vs. DC18 to cover your eyes in time. If that fails, DC18 Fortitude save to avoid turning to stone!
  19. Searchable Profile [The upper body of a muscular man, partly obscured by a punching bag in front of him. He is shaved bald, with a neatly trimmed black beard. His eyes are focused on the punching back in front of him, his right arm extended and hitting it with enough force to move it. He is sweating, his other arm already moving for a follow up strike.] [The same man in a red and black one piece costume, which leaves his arms, neck and head free. He is standing in the middle of a bunch of kids with adults standing around watching. Some of the kids hanging from his arms as he lifts them up high. He is obviously laughing and enjoying himself, with an infectious smile. The kids are all laughing and having fun. A hint of a banner with two rows of letters can be seen, showing just the last letters of each line: -ET above, and -VAL below.] [A much larger, muscular man with iron skin and a bald head, wearing the same costume as the man in the second image. He is standing with his back to the camera, which seems to have been taken from the ground at an angle. The image shows the large man in the red and black costume standing between the photographer and a large snake-man monster, holding it back. The iron skinned man's hands are firmly shut around the monster's jaws. The image is somewhat blurred, probably taken in the heat of the moment.] Name: Marcus Gender: Male Preferred Era of Pop Culture: 80'es through 90'es. Anything with boxing and giant monsters. 20. Gather Information DC10: Cheval's real name is Marcus Dumont, a Vibora Bay native and former boxer. He is a well known local hero, having been active since late 2018. He has managed to use his life as a hero to become famous and wealthy, though he spends a lot of both his time and wealth to support the local community in Vibora Bay, especially in his home in the Weston District. He seems to be supernaturally strong and tough, able to assume a form where his skin becomes like iron by reciting a short poem. DC15: Cheval made his debut fighting giant snake-men a few weeks after hurricane Michael hit Vibora Bay in 2018. He has been seen fighting similar snake-men multiple times. DC20: Cheval's agent, manager, and best friend, is Francis Brown, a former boxer turned manager. They have been seen having arguments in public over whether to focus on heroics or earning money. DC25: Cheval's only living relative is his younger brother, John. Marcus supports John so that he can focus on his studies at University of Florida Vibora Bay. Knowledge: Popular Culture DC10: Before gaining his powers, Marcus Dumont was a boxer, with the nickname "The Iron Horse". He was known for taking any hit, and keeping on going. DC15: Marcus was forced to retire from boxing, with officials worrying that he might use his powers to his advantage during bouts. DC20: Before gaining his powers, Marcus was being considered for a title match. Knowledge: Religion and Philosophy DC15: A cheval traditionally refers to someone being possessed by a loa during Voodou rituals. DC20: The snake-men that Cheval has clashed with multiple times might be members of the Mayombe, an evil Voodou cult. DC25: The poem that Cheval recites to transform into his iron-skinned form is from a short song to the loa, Ogoun. DC30: Cheval is empowered by Ogoun, loa of Iron and Fire.
  21. CHEVAL I am Iron --- "I am iron! I am covered with iron!" As the Crossroads faded before Marcus' eyes and the Mayombe ritual appeared, he heard his voice shouting the words, as his hand, raised to the skin, became like iron before his very eyes! The sensation was unlike anything Marcus had ever felt before. His entire body felt warm, not cold like he would have imagined. He could feel cloth tearing as he grew, his already muscular physique and size growing even greater. The chains that bound him, once something that had seemed so strong, felt like string in his hands, and with a loud yell of triumph, he flexed his iron arms, and the chains were broken. Rolling off the makeshift sacrifical alter, he stood tall, taller than ever before. A man of iron, a god of iron. His skin was not just covered in the living iron of Ogoun, he had become iron itself! He could feel it, in the back of his head. A presence, almost but not quite a voice. Fury, passion, justice, compassion! He was no longer just Marcus Dumont. No longer an iron horse. He was Ogoun's cheval, and he had never before, not in street fights, not in the ring, had he ever felt so alive! "Lady Mamba!" There was a slightly metallic ring to his voice, almost like an echo. He kind of liked it. "The loa have answered your bargain! I am their response!" Before giving them a chance to react, Marcus swung his hand towards the other table, grabbing on to the ropes that had been used to bind John. It took a pull, and they were broken. "I'll clear a path. Get out of here while I do that." Then, he moved. It felt like nothing ever before. Marcus felt like greazed lightning. He was a train, thundering towards his target. Pulling back his arm, he reacted by pure instinct. He knew what he could now. He knew that there was more to this than just pure strength. And as he threw the post, a wave of flames rolled off his fist, bursting forth and raining through the crowds. The god of iron and fire, indeed! The Mayombe scattered before him, either on fire or trying to get away from the fire. "Now! Go!" He moved again, turning to deliver a blow that sent the nearest cultist flying into his fellows, knocking them all over. One of them came up from behind him, stabbing a knife at Marcus' ribs. It broke, the man looking up at Marcus with a scared expression. Marcus could only smile, before delivering an uppercut that sent the man flying. Lady Mamba screeched something that Marcus couldn't quite make out. Judging from the way the cultists swarmed towards him, the meaning was clear, anyway. He moved back, swinging a backhand to take out the nearest cultist. It was like someone was taking control, helping him, pushing him in the right direction. It wasn't just his body, his mind and reflexes were raising, blocking blows that he would once just have taken, counter attacking and sending the cultists flying. Even then, they had the numbers, and apparently, the lack of self-preservation. They just threw themselves over him, weighing him down with their combined mass. They tried beating on him, but as far Marcus could feel? Well, it probably hurt them more than him. With all the might he could muster, he slammed his hands into the ground, the shockwave sending everyone off him, then stood up tall. Raising his hand, he pointed at Lady Mamba, his metallic teeth shining in the light of his smile. "The loa have spoken, Lady Mamba! Face your judgement!" Something large came from the left, something he'd completely forgotten in the rush. The Mayombe weren't just Lady Mamba and the cultists. They had snake-man hybrids, and no less than three of them. Marcus barely had time to react before all three crashed into him. He could barely hear Lady Mamba's fading laughter as they crashed into the streets, a man of iron pushed under the weight of three over-sized snakemen. He could feel their claws digging into his iron, scratching through his skin. The rush was dying out. He didn't even know he could be hurt like this, but the three beasts, larger than him. Snaketails wrapping around him, crushing him. Claws and fangs biting into his skin. Screams cut through his pain and confusion. When had the third snake-man left? It was hissing and rushing towards the people in the street. Of course they hadn't been alone on the street. He couldn't be that lucky. They had crashed through a wall on the opposite side that he had entered, and of course, it was a busy street. He couldn't be that lucky. While people fled in terror, the third snake-man towered above a man that held his child close, doing his best to protect it. He stood no chance. Of course he stood no chance. "NO!" The snake-man was interrupted as another snake-man collided with it, courtesy of Marcus. "Run! I will stop them!" His hand around the throat of the only snake-man still wrapped around him, he squeezed, causing it to gasp and struggle to free itself. Then it saw only stars, as Marcus' punch sent it flying through the wall of the building. Standing tall, he approached the last two snake-men, as they tried to get free from one another. His hands made a loud metallic sound as he cracked his knuckles. "You will not lay a finger on them, beasts. Not while I am here." The fight that followed was short. The beasts struggled, but ultimately, the power of Ogoun were too much for them to handle. And as Marcus delivered the final blow, the final beast falling, he felt something, and he knew what it was. The time was up. He had saved John. He had protected the people. He had done as asked. The iron skin faded as he watched, his fingers being the final part to change. And as the crowd cheered, and he heard them calling his name, he knew one thing, at least. Power or no power, Marcus Dumont would never be the same.
  22. CHEVAL Deal at the Crossroads --- All Marcus Dumont could see were mists. All around him, he was surrounded, nothing else to do. He tried to raise a hand over his eyes, shielding them from the non-existent sun, trying to spot just anything. How had it all come to this? John had disappeared when the hurricane Michael had hit, and Marcus had spent weeks searching for him. He finally did, and then he was in the hands of some strange Voodou cult with strange snake-men hybrids. They were singing, songs that he remembered from his childhood, songs that Nana Dee had taught him. He recognized the song, they were trying to get Papa Legba. Did any of that make sense? No, of course it didn't, but neither did snake-men, and from what everything he could see, John was their offering. He should have run for help. Francis, the cops, anyone really. But of course he hadn't. He was Marcus Dumont, the Iron Horse! He had charged in, fought them, and been brought low by their numbers, before the old woman that called herself Lady Mamba started the ritual. Even as they tied him up, Marcus grinned at the thought of how many he had stopped. The shadows of great trees appeared in the mist, casting shadows all over. Below his feet, Marcus could see roads, leading in four directions. The crossroads. He remembered now. Getting his arm free, interrupting the ritual, calling out with a bottle of rum held high. It was still in his hand now, even if he hadn't even realized it until now. "You have some nerve, interruping Lady Mamba's ritual like that. You some kinda fighter or something?" the voice of an old man called out from the ever thinning mists. Of course Marcus turned in the direction. Of course he already knew who it was. Who else could be here, at the crossroads? The old man with the crutch and a broad brimmed straw hat sat on the large roots of one of the trees that stretched into the sky around them. He had a pipe at the edge of his mouth, his lips splits into a large smile. Papa Legba removed the pipe from his mouth and blew a few smoke rings, before he addressed Marcus again. "So, why did you call out to me? What boon do you ask of Papa Legba? And would you offer in return, fighter?" How do you respond when a loa, a god asks what you want? With truth or with lies? With false modesty to appease him, or with bravado to let him know that you are not afraid of his response to what you need? Marcus was not the kind of man to think things through, no. He had no time for that. The Mayombe was willing to kill him and his brother to get what they wanted. He was a fighter, not a thinker. Of course he gave the direct response. He was never one for subterfuge. "In this moment, the Mayombe are preparing to offer the lives of my brother and I to gain the favor of Dinclinsin and Mademoiselle Charlotte, Papa Legba! We need your help! I need your help!" The old man seemed amused, a playful smile running over his lips as he placed the pipe back in his mouth, then made a circular motion with his right hand, indicating for Marcus to continue. "I need the power to save us! The power to stop Lady Mamba and the Mayombe! I am a strong man, but I need more! I must be strong enough to protect all that need me on this night!" Marcus' heart was pounding in his chest. Even he knew that making demands of the loa were a dangerous game, even if he was answering the questions of the old man at the crossroads. To think that they were real after all, and that he was talking with Papa Legba. Part of him wondered if Nana Dee had ever been here. He held the bottle of rum in his hand high, then lowered it, holding it out to Papa Legba. "I need all this, but all I can offer is myself, and this bottle of rum. Standing here before you, that is all I have to give." The old man smiled, and held out his hand. "Hand it over, then. I shouldn't be doing this, y'know. Its a small offer you're making, but the Mayombe are bad news. Can't let Dinclinsin or the Mademoiselle get their own chevals in your world, can I now? Not without someone to stop them, at least." Taking the bottle of rum in one hand, he waved his other hand. "Talk to Ogoun. Convince him. I've done my part here." When Marcus looked up, the old man was gone. In his place stood a large man in a red sash, leaning both hands on a sword firmly planted in the ground. "Ogoun." Marcus could barely say the words. Ogoun's visage was stern, but there was something in his eyes, something that gave Marcus just a hint of hope. "So you seek my help, fighter?" Papa Legba had been one thing. A loa, but hardly intimidating, at least not if you simply looked at him. Ogoun was something else. Even to Marcus, who had stood before men twice his size and won, Ogoun was intimidating. He fought through the fear, and he gave his answer. "Yes. You heard what I need and why. Will you help me?" For a moment, Ogoun was silent. Then, he laughed. A deep, rumbling laughter. "You're brave, if nothing else! Fine, I will help you, but there will be conditions! I will make you my cheval! I will ride you, giving you the power you need to save everyone! The power to become like a god of iron!" He paused, raising his hand, pointing a finger at Marcus' chest. "Use the power for good! Use it to enact justice! Use it to protect everyone, and I will be by your side! Do you accept, Marcus Dumont?" Did he have a choice? "Yes." Ogoun's smiled. "Then sing my song! Say the words that you know in your heart, fighter! Become my cheval!" Of course he knew the words. Nana Dee had taught him. "I am iron! I am covered with iron!" And as the Crossroads faded before Marcus' eyes and the Mayombe ritual appeared, he heard his voice shouting the words, as his hand, raised to the skin, became like iron before his very eyes!
  23. Cheval Marcus Dumont is Cheval, hero of Vibora Bay! Blessed with the power of the loa Ogoun, Cheval is a nigh-invulnerable bastion of iron that always stands ready to protect the people of Vibora Bay from any comers. Having grown rich and famous from sponsorships and time as a hero, he strives to remain true to himself and remain a defender of the people. History Marcus Dumont was was born to a pair of loving parents in the Weston District of Vibora Bay. Though Michael and Gabrielle loved him and his 5 years younger brother Johnn dearly, they were struggling financially, and while they did their best to provide for their children, it wasn't always enough. The children were often left in the care of their maternal grandmother, "Nana" Dee. The brothers loved spending time with Nana Dee. She was a firm believer in Voodou, and she would tell them stories and tales of the loa. Papa Legba, Ogoun, Mami Wata, and so many others. Their songs, their offerings, their deeds. To the boys, it was but fairy tales, but to Nana Dee, it was all so real. As they grew older, the bookish John would often face bullies in school and on the street. Knowing full well that his younger brother was smarter than him, the stronger Marcus decided that he would be his brothers defender. From bullies, from life, from everything. He would often get in fights and trouble, sometimes ending up suspended from school, but to Marcus, it was all worth it to keep his brother safe. He slowly developed a dream to become rich, to provide for his parents, brother and Nana Dee, but even as a child, he figured it was just that. Life was not easy for the Dumont family, but still, Marcus kept a smile on his face and a fist ready to protect his brother. Once he turned 18, Marcus left his childhood home and found a small apartment, doing menial labor, working whatever jobs he could find, figuring that he would no longer be a financial burden on his parents. It was hard living, but he did what he could. One evening, while walking home from a late shift at some job he since forgot, he was jumped by a group of would-be robbers. Fighting back, Marcus managed to beat a few, before an older man came to his rescue. Francis Brown, a former boxer saw something in Marcus that day, and took him under his wing and into the world of boxing. Marcus was a natural. Strong, able to take any hit, he quickly started rising through the amateur leagues, well on his way to becoming a professional. Then, distaster struck. Michael and Gabrielle was killed in a car crash. While first struggling to deal with the loss of his parents, Marcus discovered a fondness for rum, but pulled himself out of his depression. Determining that he would take care of John, Marcus took his younger brother in and threw all he had in on becoming a professional boxer to support his brother and put him through the education that he knew his younger brother would put to good use. Marcus 'The Iron Horse' Dumont rose through the ranks, earning greater and greater prizes, growing in fame and wealth. He was finally making something of himself, and finally able to support his family, as he had long dreamed of. Marcus kept fighting and supporting his brother as the years passed. It seemed only a matter of time until he would be offered the heavy weight title match. In 2018, Hurricane Michael hit Vibora Bay. As John disappeared in the chaos, Marcus disappeared into the streets, spending weeks searching for his brother. He was devastated and depressed, disappearing from the professional boxing stage entirely during the time. Riches, fame, it didn't matter. Only his brother did. During this time, Marcus was rarely seen without a bottle of rum as he wandered the streets, seeking out his still missing brother. It seemed to be to not avail, his brother was lost. By what seemed to be pure chance, Marcus stumbled upon a ritual in a ruined, abandoned warehouse. The Mayombe sought to regain the power they once had by striking a bargain with the loa Dinclinsin and Mademoiselle Charlotte. As their newest sacrice, the newest bargain for the power that she sought to posses once more, Lady Mamba offered John Dumont, chained to a table, prepared with offerings to the loa. The ritual was in full progress. The Mayombe gathered around the sacrifice were singing, it was only a matter of time now. Enraged and seeking to rescue his brother, Marcus fought his way through the cult. Strong as he was, Marcus eventually broke under their numbers and the might of the snakemen among their ranks. Lady Mamba had another sacrifice, one that she declared to be greater than the old one. The ritual started anew, the Mayombe sang and danced for the loa, and Marcus bided his time. As they reached the invocation stage of the ritual, he sang out to Papa Legba, his freed arm holding a bottle of rum high as he remembered Nana Dee's teachings. He found himself at the crossroads. Before him was Papa Legba, amused by Marcus' actions. He was displeased with the actions of the Mayombe, but still, he would do nothing. What did Marcus want? What did Marcus offer? Marcus wanted, no, needed help. The power to save his brother and stop the Mayombe. He offered the bottle of rum, freely giving it to Papa Legba. Papa Legba called forth Ogoun, and the deal was made. Ogoun would ride Marcus, turning Marcus into his cheval, granting him the power that he needed. Power that he would use for good and to make justice. Marcus accepted. Returning to his body, Marcus found himself transformed! His skin was like iron, he was bigger and stronger than ever before. Lady Mamba were enraged, Marcus had disrupted their ritual. Using his newfound powers, Marcus fought his way through cultists and snake hybrids alike, saving John in the progress. The fight spilled out into the streets. Repeteadly, Marcus threw himself in the way of stray attacks that would have hit innocent onlookers, or stopped the snake hybrids from hurting them. In the end, he was victorious. Swearing revenge, Lady Mamba pulled the Mayombe back, and Ogoun left Marcus' body. The entire thing was caught on camera, skyrocketing his status in the local community. In the weeks that followed, Francis tried to use the situation to secure sponsorships and endorsement deals for Marcus, even as he was banned from competing in professional boxing. After all, no one knew if Marcus' powers might return, or if he always had them. Still, Marcus had become a local hero, even as he no longer possessed the abilities that he had used to drive back the Mayombe. Then, the headaches began. Growing worse and worse, until, finally, he heard the voice of Ogoun. Marcus' deal had not ended. Granted a piece of Ogoun's power, he would continue to act as Ogoun's cheval in the world, protecting the innocent and meting out justice. Since the fall of 2018, Cheval has been a fixture in the streets of Vibora Bay. Francis Brown made sure to secure sponsorships, appearances and more, only adding to Marcus' wealth and a fame. A hero of the people, he has made sure never to forget where he came from. He has put much of his newfound wealth back into the community and personally helps in any effort where his considerable powers can be of use. Costume and Appearance Marcus is a 6'3'' tall African-American man that weights 167 lbs. Despite his size, Marcus is lean and athletic, his physique clearly showing his active life style as a hero, and his past as a professional boxer. He is shaved bald, otherwise sporting black hair. His black beard is kept in as perfect a state as events in his life allows. His black eyes are usually full of life, with a happy smile plastered across his lips. He prefers wearing red dress shirts and black slacks, but even when he wears something else, he will usually opt for combinations of red and black, to stay on brand with his Cheval identity. Marcus' costume as Cheval is a black and red bodysuit that leaves his shoulders, arms, neck and face visible. With no secret identity to protect, he has little reason to hide his face, after all. The costume is predominantly dark red framed by black. A black triangle from his shoulder, pointing down with the down pointing point at his solar plexus. After a small red stripe just below the triangle, the outside of the costume is the same black as the triangle, from his ribs and stretching down his legs. He wears black boots with dark red soles. The costume is made out of Morphic Molecules, ensuring it grows with him when he transformers. When possessed by the power of Ogoun, Marcus grows to 7 feet in height, and his skin becomes like smooth iron. He grows broader and more muscular along with the increase in height, ending in at a weight of 1.336 lbs. His black eyes turn completely white, turning metallic as well. Powers A natural fighter, Marcus Dumont is an experienced boxer, being most known for applying the Slugger style when in the ring. Even before gaining his powers, he could take an unreal amount of punishment, which he leaned into, rarely bothering to actually dodge, instead prefering to just take a punch. Despite having faced plenty that were stronger than him, his offense combined both speed and power. Despite being barred from boxing after gaining his powers, Marcus still uses what he learned in the ring as a hero. Marcus is possessed by the power of Ogoun, the loa God of Iron and Fire. Forever bound to the loa, Marcus is transformed into a form of iron and power when he speaks the phrase "I am iron, I am covered in iron", from a Voodou song in the honor of Ogoun. Despite not making a big show out of hiding either the phrase or that his powers from Ogoun, Marcus doesn't do the opposite either: He will not deny that his powers come from the loa, but he has no reason to explicitely tell anyone either. Even outside the God of Iron form, Marcus has been altered by being ridden by Ogoun, being able to see and understand with any spirit, be they natural or not. Somewhat disturbed by this ability letting him see both natural spirits and those of the dead, Marcus is still unused to this ability, and what much of what he sees might mean. As he transforms into the God of Iron, Marcus grows in height, weight and power, as his skin turns to iron. Partially possessed by Ogoun, his already impressive fighting skills grows ever greater. He attains super human strength and resillience, his skin can stop bullets, he can move at super human speed and leap great distances. A tank of a man, Cheval is hindered by few things, appearing much as a typical powerhouse hero at first glance. The Power of Ogoun is more than what first meets the eye, however. By calling upon Ogoun's blessings, Cheval can channel his superhuman strength into lightning fast blows, strikes that drain his targets to heal him, or even the ability to create a blast of flames from his very fist. Of course, if Cheval learns how, he might be able to channel Ogoun's divine power in other ways. Allies John Dumont: Marcus' younger brother, currently attending University of Florida Vibora Bay. Marcus has been taking care of him and providing for him since their parents died in 2009. Francis Brown: Marcus' agent and manager, going back to when he was a boxer. A bit gruff, sometimes focusing a bit too much on the money and fame side of things, but he means well. Heroes of Vibora Bay: Cheval met the majority of the heroes of Vibora Bay during the Hurricane Dorian, when they joined together to stop the gigantic zombified Beast. Since then, they have organized to work together, with Cheval and a few others working as official municipal defenders. Persephone: An interesting woman who, despite her odd speech mannerisms, seems to be a voice of reason. As a municipal defender, Marcus finds himself working closely with her. Torque: A human transformer! To be honest, Marcus finds her abilities rather strange, but she has more than proven herself. Another municipal defender, Marcus is proud to call her his friend. Speed Demon: A burning speedster, who might be possessed by a less benevolent force than Marcus. While he feels some kinship, Marcus also believes the force that posses Speed Demon to be destructive, and admires the man for trying to keep it in check.. Sagrado Corazon: A young man with a voice that commands. Marcus is happy that he is heroic, as he has no idea how he would fight someone like him otherwise. The Immutable Betsy Brooks: A British woman deep in the supernatural. Marcus had decided that she is the best one to turn to when he needs help to understand what is happening with the spirits he sees. The Woodsman: A strange man that claims to be just a Woodsman. Fought the giant Beast alongside the other heroes of Vibora Bay, but he seems the most closed off of them all. As with the others, Marcus has decided to trust him. He believes that the Woodsman means well, but needs to lighten up. Dragoneer: The one hero that weren't around when the Beast attacked. Cheval respects Dragoneer and his exploits and fame, at least initially seeing the two as kindred spirits. Timeline 2018 Fall November 13th: Weeks after hurricane Michael hit Vibora Bay, Marcus' search for his missing brother leads to a fight with the Mayombe that eventually sees him becoming the cheval of Ogoun. 2019 Fall September 4th: Vibora Bay - Storm of the Century: Cheval unites with the heroes of Vibora Bay to protect the city from Hurricane Dorian and a massive monster brought to life by unholy means. September 5th: Vibora Bay - Rough Draft: In the aftermath of the previous night's battle, the heroes of Vibora Bay get organized. Early September, a few days after September 5th: Dragon's Harvest: The Dragoneer hosts a party for the heroes of Vibora Bay. Cheval must of course attend.

What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? Continue protecting Vibora Bay, to grow in skill and power, hopefully help keep our new team together. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? To protect someone else. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Is it a mark of success, or a means to an end? Growing up, I had little, and my growing fame and wealth is, admittedly, a nice bonus. How do you generally treat others? With respect and a smile. Are you a trusting person? Has your trust ever been abused? I believe in trusting someone, till they prove otherwise. I am very much an extrovert, with much self-confidence. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? I am always on my best behaviour around the ladies. No. What is your favorite food? Do you prefer any particular type of food? Do you take the time to enjoy your food, or do you eat as fast as you can? Anything from Creole and Cajun cuisine. Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? If so, how do your beliefs affect your life? How important is it to you? I didn't use to be, but it is difficult not to grow somewhat spiritual when connected to a loa. It is part of me and who I am, but there are other parts that are more important. Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special? Yes, by Nana Dee, and Papa Legba and Ogoun themselves. If you belong to a religious organization, how often do you attend? Do you have a specific place of worship, or friends within the organization? How much do you agree with the beliefs of your organization? I do not formally belong to any religious organizations. Could you kill? Have you killed? I haven't, but I could, if it needed to be done to protect others. What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? The life of one evil man, or the life of all that he would kill the moment I let him go? What kind of choice is that? Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? A situation where if I don't, innocents will die. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? Would your reaction be different if the killer was a friend or an enemy of yours? It all depends on the situation. For a friend with a good cause, I would try to comfort the killer. For an enemy, or someone that killed just to kill, I would stop them. How would you react if something important was stolen from you? In the past, I have chased down thieves myself! How would you react to public humiliation? Not well, but I'd try to keep my dignity. I have worked hard to win the trust of the people. How would you react if a good friend or relative were purposely or accidentally killed? Has it happened to you? I grieved my parents' death. I would grieve again, but not blame anyone if it was an accident. On purpose, I would hunt the killer down so they could face justice. What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why? To kill, to maim, to violate. No one should die to a killer, and no one should be hurt for life. If your life were to end in 24 hours, what five things would you do in those remaining hours? I'm not much of a planner, and I cannot think of five, but I would spend my day with my brother and the people, doing all I could to spread some smiles on last time. Career & Training Do you have any special training in your hero skills? If so, where and how did you get it? I used to be a boxer. I was a natural, but I had extensive training, and before I gained my powers, it was only a matter of time before I would've gotten a shot at the championship title. Who taught you the most about your heroing abilities? What was your relationship with that person? My powers came with an understanding of how they work, to a degree, so in a way, Ogoun taught me most. At times he speaks to me, but it is rare, so I wouldn't say we have much of a relationship, but I respect him. He is, after all, above all this. Do you have any particularly unusual skills? How did you acquire them? Not beyond my boxing skills, no. Do you do something besides hero work for a living? Have you ever done anything else, or do you plan to? I used to be a boxer, but that's in the past. Now, sponsorships supports me. What is your preferred combat style? Take the hits and punch back. Use what I know from boxing. Have you ever received any awards or honours? Not as such. What skill areas would you like most to improve in? Is there anything you can't do that you wish desperately you could? Tactics, planning, those would be good. For now, I leave it to those that are better at such things. How do you act around people who are more skilled than you in areas you'd like to improve? Are you jealous, or do you try and learn? I try to learn from them, if we have the time. Lifestyle & Hobbies What is a normal day for you? How do you feel when something interrupts this routine? Wake up, eat breakfast, and then either attend anything that my agent has set up, walk the streets to spend time among the people, react to any crisis. I usually eat alone, with my agent or my brother. The routine is often interrupted by something that need me, and I will always answer the call. Do you have any hobbies, or interests outside hero work? What are they, and where did you pick them up? I do charity work, both appearances and donations. It seems right to give back to the community. What do you do for fun? Partying, card games. Spending time with my brother. Do you have a costume? What does it look like? Of course, I have to stay on brand for the fans! The costume is a dark red and black bodysuit, which leaves my arms and face exposed. No need to hide my identity, after all. While primarily dark red, the suit is black on my sides, from under my arms and stretching to my feet. I wear black boots with dark red soles. The upper part of the costume is in a black down pointing triangle that reaches my solar plexus, leaving a red stripe between the black triangle and the black parts of the costume on my side. How do you normally dress when not in costume? I prefer dark pants, red dress shirts and black ties. Again, the whole brand. Nice shoes, if possible. What do you wear to bed most nights? Boxers. Do you wear any special jewelry? What is it, and what does it look like? No, it would break when I change. Do you have a special place where you keep your valuables? I have a safe in my home. What's your preferred means of local travel? How about long distance? Public transit, if possible. Long distance, I prefer trains, though I often have to take planes. Miscellaneous Have you ever made a will, or tried to make arrangements for your death? What provisions did you make? No, but perhaps I should. As I have mentioned, I am not much of a planner. If your features were to be destroyed beyond recognition, is there any other way of identifying your body? None that I know of. What would you like to be remembered for after your death? Being a hero and keeping others safe. Do you believe you pose a threat to the public? Why or why not? My powers could be dangerous in the wrong hands, but no, I do not believe I am a threat. I am sworn to protect the innocent, not harm them. What do you perceive as your greatest strength? I can take any hit, and punch back just as hard. What do you perceive as your greatest weakness? I am not a great planner or thinker. I hit things, I defeat them, but others are better suited for figuring out how to do it. As a player, if you could, what advice would you give your character? Speak as if he/she were sitting right here in front of you. Use proper tone so they might heed your advice... You need to learn to plan ahead instead of just rushing in, and get the right balance between celebrity and being a hero.
