GM There were no sound from TKO. Either the shock was just too much for him, or he had moved somewhere else. Fly-Boy, on the other hand, made some weird, pained buzzing noises as the lightning cascaded over his body and his wings, lbut finally, he shook it off, and then flew straight up, above Facsimile. "MY TURN!" It was more of a roar than just words being spoken, as Bear-Knuckle leapt at Facsimile from out of nowhere, swinging both of his massive bear arms at the young hero. So far, he had held his own against a couple of the Contenders, and he had even made Heavyweight leave the arena, but against three of them, including the ferocious Bear-Knuckle, who claws were cutting through Facsimilie's armor like it was nothing! Landing in the ring under Facsimile, Bear-Knuckle made an obscene gesture with his arms, a massive grin spreading across his lips. "C'mon, punk! Show me what ya got!"

Mean! That's a pair of hits! FORT saves coming up: Fly-Boy: 20, fail by 5, so still stunned! TKO: 27, he makes it TKO repositions! The question is where! Bear-Knuckle goes into action, leaping at Facs and swinging a bear-knuckle at him: 29 That's a hit, and a crit! DC25+5 = DC30 TOU check for Facs. Heavyweight approaches the ring, but doesn't enter just yet. And Fly-Boy tries to recover from stunned: 27, he's back in action and flies up to make sure they're not all in your shot. 26 - Fly-Boy - Bruise (x1) 20 - Facsimile - 3HP - Bruise (x1) 20 - TKO - Unharmed 14 - Bear-Knuckle - Unharmed 6 - Heavyweight - Bruise (x1), Staggered

REBELLION Hm. The Meta-Naut wasn't too fond of the plan to turn off the transmitter. Sure, there might be a security system, and getting someone here could be bad if the Crime Gun could turn them against them, so it was reasonable. Still, better to have a few more guards to fight than having to deal with the entire city. Dave van der Kuy stood back and remained silent as Raya tried to get the scientists to do it. They had objections, of course. If they didn't follow along, then Rebellion was ready to just break the damn thing. Any musings on what to do was broken by that annoying laugh, and the arrival of Captain Crime and his cohorts. A woman, a large man, a group of armed goons and Captain Crime in full body cast. How was he even functioning after something that put him in a full body cast hours ago just meant that he wasn't to be underestimated. The big question was, who had the Crime Gun? At least he could buy them some time to find it out. Another trick he hadn't shown Meta-Naut yet. No reason to let all of his secrets out of the bag, after all. Dave van der Kuy positively glared at the big guy, as Rebellion unleashed the full power of the Terror on the man.

Dave van der Kuy glares at the big guy with some good Paralyzing Terror. That's a perception range mental paralyze effect, which means autohit and no one but Rebellion and the big guy can see it, or anyone with some mental senses. That's a DC20 Will Save vs being paralyzed.

There's a new drug on the streets of Emerald City that seems to give people temporary super powers before they burn out! Rebellion is on the case and needs someone to help him! Looking for 1-2 Emerald City PCs not already involved in Emerald City Showdown! Prefably PL7-10, and posting at least once every few days. Bit of a mystery/action mix, so both investigation and fighting.

Forever Boy "Oh yes, I was brought up alongside Pot, Glass, Fork and Knife. There was a whole theme there. Sadly, they are all home on Neverworld." Pan winked at Micah as he explained, sounding completely sincere. And after all, who would know if he spoke the truth or not? He had never told anyone how Pixies were named, and they had named him Pan, after all. While Pan had waved in greeting to Davyd, he was mildly put off by Ben, and his rapid fire speech with so many words that seemed to make so little sense, coming all at once. He blinked, returning high-fives as necessary, moving quickly to keep up with him, before letting out a loud laugh. "I have no idea what half of what you just said meant, but it is great to meet you, Ben!" He did a quick bow in mid-air to Ben, pointing to the sky. "No dark clouds when Micah is around, my friends!" Micah had a good point, though! New students, new friends, new adventures! Everyone here could do something, it seemed, even Ashley was handy with her gun, even if she didn't even remotely like being here, so, it would be interesting. "Yes, let us hear it! Ben obviously has the whole multi-armed thing, but what else can you do? And what about you, Claude? As for me... It should be obvious!" He took a few steps around in mid-air, while golden dust fell from him. Of course, he could do much with the Pixie Dust that they wouldn't learn just from that, but where was the fun in telling them everything?

Forever Boy Pan whistled as he admired the view and the colors of everything! The Painted Desert! The name made a lot of sense, yes! He was wearing a green t-shirt with a white pattern of intertwined birds all over it, and a pair of dark green, slightly loose pants. He had, for once, put on an actual pair of boots instead of just sneakers or loafers, and a white cap, as well as a pair of sunglasses that was currently hanging from the hole near the neck of his t-shirt. He was wearing the large backpack that the good doctor had ordered him to pack, holding onto one of the straps with his left hand while he held the other up above his eyes, right in front of the cap. "This is brilliant!" he stated, once his whistle was over. He simply loved the view. Unlike Adam, Pan had taken an immediate dislike to the the irate old man. He probably had stories, true, but he was old, and he seemed so annoyed at even having to deal with the students. But at least they had a nice view of everything here!

GM The Painted Desert, Arizona October 3rd, 2019 14:00 PM Survival class, that was what the guest teacher had called it. If you were going to be a hero, then you could end up out in the middle of nowhere, and you needed to know what you could do to survive. The fliers on Blue Squad might have argued that they could just fly away, but the Doctor Alexander Macedon had not accepted any objections, and a day later, Blue Squad had found themselves in the Painted Desert in Arizona. They had all been given proper gear stuffed into heavy backpacks, and now they had been dropped off near the Rainbow Visitor Center by the van that had picked them up at the airport. Doctor Alexander Macedon looked like a man in the early 70'es. His skin was tanned by the sun, and seemed slightly leathery, from years of being out in the harsh sun. His thinning hair were grey, almost bordering on white, as was his scraggy, unkempt beard. He wore a black eyepatch over his left eye, with a pair of horn rimmed glasses over both eyes. A cowboy hat on his head, he wore a beige dress shirt, with the few buttons closests to his neck open, revealing his grey chest hair. He had rolled the sleeves up, with an brown bomber jacket stuffed into his backpack. He wore dark grey fatigue pants and a pair of heavy dark boots. Something about him made him seem even older, and one the way here, he had made it more than clear that he didn't want to do this or have anything to do with a bunch of super powered kids, but he owed someone a favor. Standing by the side of the road in front of the teens, Macedon held up a map, making sure they could all see it. "Listen up, kids. This map is our only clue to where we're goin'. We're gonna be crossing through the Painted Desert here, and we're gonna survive off the rations you've brought and what we can find, but make sure you don't do anything to harm the nature around here. No smashing rocks with any of your fancy gadgets or powers or anything like that. We're gonna go off road, and gonna end up at the Painted Desert Visitor Center, with some stops on the way. It's gonna take a while, so save on those rations." He made a short pause and lowered the map. "Now, who's up first for learning how to read and follow a map? Yer all gonna get yer turn."

REBELLION Raya Wells. The Meta-Naut seemed to play the role well. Interesting. Maybe she had some acting classes, or there was more to her than just a high flying super hero? He would have to remember to make a note about that later. As Dave van der Kuy, a probably suitable pretentious name, Rebellion nodded politely to the guard as they were let in, then quietly followed "Raya Wells" into the building, staying close, but not too close, to her. No reason to create any wrong impressions. Getting inside was easy, it seemed. Nothing like putting on the right face to get where you wanted. Once past the guards, Rebellion looked around. No Captain Crime yet, as far as they could see. "Yeah. Enough people to fight against here without having to get physical with them." He honestly didn't know much about all this science. Judging from her gear, Meta-Naut was probably the better bet on who could figure it all out. "Can we turn the entire thing off? Make sure he can't use it if he gets past us somehow?" He wouldn't rule out just smashing parts of the thing, if it came to that.

GM Bullets were flying everywhere through the water, some even hitting Chromium, and flattening harmlessly against his chrome skin. It seemed like whoever had stationed the guards hadn't counted on someone that was bullet proof coming for them. Still, they kept up the barrage, bullets flying everywhere around him. He could vaguely hear some shouting from above, but the water blocked most of the sound. Reaching the anchor, it was easy enough to become fluid and flow up it, but it would take a moment to reach the ship. Entering, Chromium would find himself in complete darkness, with only the massive chain holding the anchor immediately visible, though there was a door leading out of the room just up ahead.
-
The bad guys shoot into the water, trying to hit you! Let's treat the murky water as partial concealment, so even if a shot hits you, you can avoid getting hit on me rolling 17+ on a dice roll after 3 guns shooting at you with submachine guns with autofire: 14 15 22 Well, that's a lot of hits, so let's check how many miss based on the water, on 17+: 18, 17, 9 2 misses, and the last one hits! BUT your Impervious is high enough to take no damage, so you're in luck. It'll take you a round to get up and into the ship with your plan. And give me a Stealth check, so we can see if they notice you slithering aboard.

GM "Listen to yer own advice, punk!" The voice came close by, somewhere within the ring. Even if Facsimile couldn't see him, it was clear that TKO was in there with him now, somewhere! Hiding out of sight, invisible, or something else? He would have to find out on his own, if he could even get the chance! The floor under Facsimile erupted, exploding upwards and moving up, almost like it was a fist reaching up and trying to snap around him in one quick grab!

TKO coming in! He is (obviously) invisible, and all up on you! Or rather, the floor under you! Hits like an Area effect: DC20 Ref for half effect on a DC20 Ref Snare effect! Whether that hits or not, Fly-Boy tries to go unstunned: 10 Still SO stunned! "Ha, that is amazing, Davyd!" Pan called out, as the bird took to the air and flew alongside him, around the ship. Oh, now this was only proper! For adventures at sea, they needed a companion like this! He circled around with Davyd a few times, laughing all the while, before coming down and following the rest to their quarters. Landing and walking in the tight quarters, Pan whistled as he saw the room, before Davyd came falling before them. "Come now, this is not that kind of trip, Davyd! Cover your shame!" Raising his hand, Pan threw some Pixie Dust in Davyd's direction, an image of a pair of white boxer shorts with big red parrots appearing over him, while Pan laughed.

CHEVAL Marcus had returned Persephone's hug at the end of the night. Even he was starting to feel weary from the constant work, but there had been lives to save, and that mattered more. Returning to his rather luxurious apartment, he had released his metal form. He knew what was coming even before he did so. All the pent up fatigue hit at once, and he all but passed out, even if only briefly. He woke with a start. The meeting at the mayor's place. All the other heroes would be there, and he could hardly be the only one that did not show. Not when he was Cheval, after all! He threw on a fresh costume, then turned to iron as he rushed through the streets. Cheval was let in with little issue. It was not the first time he had met the mayor. First, back when he was just a contender, and later, after gaining his powers. This would make the third meeting, then. By the time he reached the mayor's office, he had returned to flesh and blood. Stepping through the door, he acknowledged each of the heroes already here in turn. "Bonjou, my friends. It is good to see you all again." He offered his hand to each in turn, before getting to the mayor, and shaking her hand again. "And it is good to see you again as well, Mayor Barker."- 82 replies

GM "Sure, go ahead and keep it, I guess." Charlie shrugged, but it seemed clear that he was flexing just a little bit. They all grouped up, with Charlie putting a hand on Moira's shoulder, the feeling of a hand being slapped away when Joey tried to put his hand on her butt, and then moving up to her arms, followed by Val and the others doing the same, while all of them put their arms in front of their eyes to block the light. "Yanno, I'm pretty sure they say to don't go into the light, but who am I to judge?" Joey piped up, as Moira led the way forward. Despite the feeling of the bright light still almost burning Moira's eyes even through the cloth, and one of the others complaining that they could almost see the light through their arm, getting through the hallway was rather uneventful, as they reached the open area. The area was rather unlike the path they had just been on. There seemed to be a mist covering it, with a random assortment of ruined Greek ruins covering the area. Columns lots of statues, the ruins of a single house... Moira couldn't see quite how far the room stretched, as it disappeared into the mist.

GM "You look ridiculous." It was Joey. That much was pretty clear, both from his voice and tone, even if Moira couldn't quite see him. "I dunno about this. Staying back here might be safe from whatever's down that way, sure, but what if that weird plant lady wakes up, or whatever took the other people?" "Moira sounds like she knows what she's doing, so let's just stay." Val, moving to her defense again. As Moira continued into the light, it grew more and more intense. It felt almost like it burned, but not quite. Even with the cloth for her eyes, Moira could barely see anything. Then, she reached the end. The light shone from what seemed to be a mirror, embedded deep in the wall, and the path turned to the right, into darkness, like in the evening as the sun had set. With the bright light in her eyes, it seemed even darker than it should be, but it seemed like it led into an open area. There was a mirror that shone as bright as the sun, and a path ahead, but what would Moira choose to do?

Reflex: 1d20+10 = 12 I'm gonna spend a HP to reroll that: 20, but since I rolled less than 11, I get +10 and it counts as a roll of 30

I'm gonna be running a thread for Blue Squad that can hopefully get some interactions for the new squad, while keeping in with the semi-theme of them going weird places from their previous trips into a book and a dream. It could be nice to have some more ongoing threads for the squad as a whole this year. Additional stuff: For Pan personally: Making some headway on returning to Neverworld.

September - October Vignette - Beginnings and Endings
RocketLord replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Freedom City Stories
Forever Boy First Day of Freedom --- Swirling colors. Purple, white, black and blue, intermixing, whirling before his eyes. Everything a blur. What was happening? Where was he? Falling, falling ever on, down, down, down he went. Couldn't stop. Couldn't control it, at all. Just continuing on and on. It was weird. It was wrong. He wasn't used to falling. He wasn't used to falling. He was used to... what was it now? Yes, not falling... FLYING! He was not meant to fall, he was meant to fly! He was not meant to end, he was meant to begin! He was Pan, the Forever Boy! And perhaps, this would be his greatest adventure yet? Then, darkness. Then, light. He slowly opens his eyes. The fall almost forgotten, he slowly sits up. He is somewhere else, somewhere new. No longer in the grip of the Hooked Man, no longer standing before the beast that is the Crocodile, he finds himself in an alley in a strange city. The sky was dark, and yet, there was so much light. So many lights, glowing over the streets. So many buildings, standing tall, almost glowing with light within and without. So, so different from what he was used to. So much glass. Entire sides of buildings covered in nothing but glass. And so much noise. It was everywhere, it seemed. Honking noises. People talking, shouting. Music, from everywhere. Even at the busiest time of day in the markets of New Avalon and Tham were nothing like this noise, was nothing like this place. It was almost too much. And entirely unlike anything the Forever Boy had seen before! Presented with a world like this, he should probably be scared, but the Forever Boy knew not what fear was, after all. So he followed his instincts, and he flew up, high up, above the sounds and noise, above the buildings that towered as high as the highest castles of New Avalon, stretching into the sky. He was a figure of green on dthe dark night sky, outside the light, unseen, unheard. He had to get his bearings, had to find out where he was. His first thoughts had been in some unknown locale of Neverworld. Some place that his journeys had yet to take him, and yet, as he looked upon the sea of light of the city far below, he discarded that idea. This was not Neverworld. This could not be Neverworld. It was too different. Too strange. Too alien. The massive buildings of glass and lights caught his eyes again. He saw words bent in neon, massive plates with rapidly shifting images below. Pictures of flying men and women, clad in colorful clothes, not entirely unlike his own. That was new. As far as he knew, he was the only non-Pixie to fly without any Skyships on Neverworld, but from what he could see, they seemed plentiful in this world. He flew down, closer to the plate that showed the moving images, trailing golden dust behind him. Few looked up to notice him, but either he didn't care, or he didn't notice them in turn. In the middle of the lights of the city, he stopped in front of the giant plate with the moving images, just a few feet away. He had never seen anything like it before. Nothing on Neverworld could do this, as far as he was aware. Then, he heard shouts from below. People speaking an unfamiliar language, pointing to him and shouting. Some waved, and with a smile, the Forever Boy waved back, before flying off. No, this was not Neverworld. The people below seemed to have no idea who he was, and that plate... He looked over his shoulder again, the images had shifted once more, showing a cart moving across a road of its own power. Not entirely unlike the vehicles he could see moving slowly through the streets of the city below. He stopped a bit to watch them, listening to the honking sounds, listening to their words. He was starting to understand the snippets of the strange language that he heard. A gift from the Pixies, the gift of understanding. He could heard some cursing at others, as he flew across two of the vehicles that had collided. The two people looked like they were about to fight. They were yelling something about whose fault it was. Not that different from back home, at least. He flew on. Across the city. More lights, more people. Their clothing were so different. He heard many languages, all unknown to him. No, it could not be Neverworld. It made no sense that it was Neverworld. It had to be somewhere else. He had no idea where, but no, it was not Neverworld. It had to be another world. But how... had the Crocodile sent him here, somehow? It was the last thing he remembered, seeing it before him, then the swirling fall, then waking up in that alley. So, so strange. Hovering above it all, he felt a rumble in his stomach. He couldn't remember when he had something to eat. Could he even eat the food in this strange world? The people seemed a lot like him, so perhaps? He would at least have to take the gamble... but the question was, where could he even find food? Creating an image of nothing around him, a favorite trick of his that still worked in this world, Pan flew into the city. He followed people. He learned where they went, how they entered and exited the buildings with these strange doors that opened on their own. Well, some of them, at least. It was a marvel, to say the least. A door that opened on its own! Some places, he saw them leaving with things that resembled food. There was a cart in the street that he watched. The man gave out buns, with grilled or cooked light brown things that smelled delicious. They had things placed on them, different colors of fluids, red and yellow. Some had small green circles. Some had small brown or white things sprinkled on top. When one of the buns, with everything ready, was placed in a paper on a small tray, while the man asking for it looked for his payment, Pan took his chance. A wind kicked up as he flew past, grabbing the brown thing he guessed was meat in a bun, as he flew up and away. Across the city, he studied the thing. The sign had said hot dogs. Did people on this world eat dogs? He hoped it was just a name, but, he was so hungry. With some hesitation, he took a bite, as he looked up at the sign that he had stopped in front of, while he chewed the delicious food in his hand. Welcome to Freedom City, it said. Perhaps coming here was a gift for the Crocodile? A whole new world of freedom? -
Yep, that's a miss.

Justice "Yup, same here." Robin replied, using her fist to lightly hit her helmet twice, making it give off a metallic sound. "Built this thing on my own. Fourth major version so far. But I gotta remember to build a tracker or something. Kinda been reacting to what I've come up against with my tools." She looked down at the guy. He looked weird, yeah, but there weren't really anything she could recognize, or any clues she could find. Then again, she wasn't exactly familiar with Bethlehem Heights. Upper-middle class girl and all that, she'd rarely stepped foot here before putting on the mask. Emerald Spider had more luck, at least. The man's pants had the remains of a square with three stripes diagonally across. It was a logo on a nearby warehouse, and at least a lead to go on.
