  1. Nazis. Those men were freaking nazis. And those uniforms? Was that something historic, or just trying to look the part? Was time weird here, too? Cassidy doubted it was something Tsunami would have forgot to mention, but still... this was just weird. Red armbands and everything, and they spoke German, at least as far as he knew. Cassidy knew that he hadn't been in the game a long time, but nazis being bad guys should be rule number one, right? But attack, or stay back? He couldn't understand what they were saying, so trying to get information from them was probably not gonna work out either. Great. He looked to Tsunami, his form turning at least somewhat humanoid, he pointed to them, then tried to make a shrug with his shoulder. Bad guys. What do we do? He wasn't sure if she got his meaning or not, but he really didn't want to try alerting them before they knew what to do.
  2. Pan agreed with Judy, of course. This was a bad nightmare. Dead and destruction all around them, and that Raven thing. It was strange, it was horrific, and it had known Ashley. So, if little Olga's nightmare was that all the heroes of Freedom City could not protect her, then what was Ashley's? The first nightmare had been both Leroy's and the little girl's, a mix of both. So, the Raven had to come from Ashley. It was intriguing. Ashley had never made any mention of a connection like that, not that she was the kind of person that tended to overshare. But, later. Now the focus was on Victoria and any other children. And then the world around them disappeared as Olga woke up, dark skies gave way to Twilight, and the school. And singing? Was it one voice or many? Pan smiled at the others. They were already in Miss Lupine's nightmare, but they had already encountered that of his friends. What about himself? Was he next, then? Should that stop him in his tracks? No, of course not. "Let us find the children, then! Same plan as before, Ashley?"
  3. Pan's smile at seeing Mike quickly turned into a frown at the mention of the business that he, Sam and their little group had managed to accomplish. He was not quite as forgiving with the mistake as Nicole appeared to be right now. "Yes. You were indeed quite stupid. Idiotic, even. Doing all the wrong things for all the wrong reasons. In the past, it might be, but even then, you cannot just let go and forget a past, can you now?" He decided to stop. Nicole was right that Mike and his friends should make it right, and it would probably not help anything if he kept pushing his distaste of the actions that had led them to this. "I am Pan. Nice to meet you, I suppose." He gestured towards Nicole, motioning that Mike should probably answer her questions.
  4. So fast. Forever Boy: 1d20+9 = 10 Star Hunter: 1d20+3 = 18 29 - Aurora - 1HP - Unharmed 18 - Star Hunter - Unharmed 10 - Forever Boy - 4HP - Unharmed Aurora is UP!
  5. Coming up: Sense Motive: 1d20+4 = 18 And Pan got a Danger Sense, not sure if it applies here or not.
  6. Sorry, must have missed your question, @Grumblefloof. The room seems to be storage, so there's multiple boxes with candy in it, including some with decorative glass that can be closed with a small hinge. Those boxes are about to be on fire, so up to you if you go for them or burn the HP.
  7. And let's get ready to ruuuumble! Can I get some initiative?
  8. GM Whoever the blue-armored man was, he was heading straight for them, according to the tablet screen, at least. The pair of young heroes might feel ready, but so did the armored hunter. They could see the hunter soon. Not any details quite yet, but in the direction that the tablet said, a blue figure was approaching rapidly from the sky. This was their last chance to get ready, to prepare themselves. He would be there within moments now. Whoever the hunter was, he was fast, and he was determined. He would get his prey. The two armored men from before had meant nothing to him. A means to an end. Find the prey. He would pursue them himself.
  9. Forever Boy Pan waved Reina's apology away. "Why? There is no need for any apology. Why would I ever turn away from a friend in need?" He reached out, placing a hand on her shoulder. He was not quite sure how Reina would react, but he felt that he should reassure her, in some way. "Whoever it is that is hunting you, I will not leave your side. We will deal with him quickly, and then return to the tour! I promise you, before the day is done, we will have burgers at Champions!" He pointed to the sky at the last sentence, his smile almost glowing. He and Reina were quite different, were they not? She needed some confidence! And he would do his best to help her with that!
  10. Change some stuff around if I use him, to make him an expy, but still his own guy? Less intelligence, more wisdom? A bit of an idiot hero, maybe? Take out computers stuff? Cut down on array size, stunt at least some of it. Move Enh. Str. into array BP, give me more PP to play with in array. Gained powers during Terminus Invasion 2018, when Terminus Energies interfered with an experiment, causing an overload that bathed Ben in the combined energies. Alien being travels through space, placing Elemental Sigils on a number of individuals to protect against some unspecified threat. Sigil bearers get great powers based on the element in question, which doesn't seem to follow any specific formula like classic elements, chinese elements, etc. New name, dislike the Ben name on further thought. New personality: Easy going, laid back, lots of friends. Generally puts himself and his lack of any real skills down. Average intelligence, but very perceptive. Stands up for his friends, though not much of a fighter. Learned new powers entirely by instinct. Eyes: Brown Hair: Black Ben is a somewhat average looking young man with short black hair and brown eyes. He is somewhat slim, prefering to dress in slightly oversized clothes, with a preference for hoodies in darker colors. He often wears huge headphones, rarely being seen without his smart phone or laptop. As the Uncanny Lightning Bug, Ben wears a primarily white and blue costume. The legs and lower torso of the costume is white with a light grey hexagonal pattern. His chest and arms are dark blue, with seemingly random circuit pattern in a lighter blue colors. The blue sleeves are separated from the chest at white lines, with the blue part of the chest stretches down his abdomen in the shape of a lightning bolt. The blue sleeves end in red accents at the wrists, his gloves being white with the same hexagonal pattern as the pants and lower torso. He wears a primarily dark blue mask with the same pattern as the upper chest and sleeves, with a red visor and a white bug-like part over his mouth, stylized to look like closed mandibles. The mask has a pair of short white antenna connected just above the middle of the visor. History: (Remember we are a relatively family friendly site. Your story should be PG-13 at most. If your character wouldn't fit in an episode of Justice League Unlimited, The Dresden Files, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you'll need to rethink it. When in doubt, ask a Staff Member.) Father is a high school science teacher, mother is a not very succesful fiction author. Good home life, only child, not a ton of money. Goes with father and class to the unveiling of some sort of alternative energy source machine at ASTRO Labs during Summer 2018 (at age 15). Terminus invasion happens, machine is bombarded with energy from the Terminus and explodes, showering Ben in strange electrifying Terminus energies. He goes out cold, wakes up in hospital after the end of the invasion with his parents. During the following year, he discovers his powers and starts using them as a hero in local area, staying relatively low profile. Why hero? Feels guilty for having gained these powers during the whole Terminus thing, and yet not being able to use them to help others then! (people died in the accident where he gained his powers) Eventually gets involved in a super villain fight during summer 2019 which causes some property damage and people being hurt, despite Ben's best efforts. A Youtuber, changing his username to BugZapper55, having witnessed the events, and affected by the terminus effect on Ben, starts a campaign to discredit him, leading to a bad reputation, and him becoming more well known. At the same time, he's offered to enroll at Claremont Academy to learn how to be a hero. He agrees, telling his parents about his powers and identity. They already knew, but allows him to attend. Alexander Strong was a good person. He stood up for his friends, he befriended bullies and showed them the error of their ways, he scored perfect As in every subject and he was well on his way to an internship at ArcheTech. All in all, he was the perfect choice to receive the Limitless Sigil, to become one of the few defenders spread across the universe, standing in opposition to the Great Darkness. When the great Elemental Scholar Alteisen saw Alexander standing up to a bully at his school, he knew that Alexander would be perfect for the role, and soon after, he branded Alexander with the Sigil and began explaining the young Earthling's role in the great battle ahead. Of course, then the Earthling freaked out, saying that he wasn't Alexander. An honest mistake. All those Earthlings look the same. Unfortunately, Jack Gardner was not quite what Alteisen was looking for, but the deed was done, the Sigil was placed, and Jack would have to do. Personality & Motivation: Ben is an introvert, rarely going out of his way to meet other people or make friends. He suffers from a guilt complex born from the events that led to him gaining his powers. If he can rationalize that something is his fault, he will probably think so. Rather than being crippled by this feeling, Ben uses it to try and become a better person, doing what he can to help others, in either of his identities. While not exactly confrontational, Ben can be rather snarky when he feels like it. He's not really a follower or much of a team player, generally prefering to work alone. He is prone to angsting over mistakes, though he will usually power through them. An avid gamer, amateur programmer and hacker, Ben is rarely seen without his smart phone or computer. He's not really shy about being a gamer in any way, but can easily get defensive if anyone makes any bad remarks that it makes him a bad person in some way. Before gaining his powers, he had a dream of one day creating computer games, though he isn't as sure about that dream anymore. Since gaining his powers, Ben has found a certain freedom in putting on a mask and acting in public where no one knows who he is. While still prefering to work on his own, he opens up more to others. He snarks, quips and jokes with others more openly, showing his usually more latent heroic side. Not a fan of violence, he will usually try to subdue opponents with non-violent means, or otherwise try to keep civillians out of trouble during battles. Ben loves his parents dearly, feeling rather liberated at finally revealing his dual identity to them after 9 months as a super hero. Their support means everything to him, and his moral compass and personal code of honor is certainly due to his upbringing. Powers & Tactics: Ben's powers are all electric in nature, his entire body having been bombarded with strange Terminus-infused energies when the experimental machine exploded, even being able to do some things that electricity logically shouldn't be able to do, such as gaining super-strength by powering up his muscles with energy, or creating force fields to protect himself. He can stick to just about anything by creating a static effect and fly or move at incredible speeds by discharging electric energy from his hands. He can use the lightning in a number of offensive ways, from empowering punches with electricity and creating blinding flashes, to shooting lightning from his fingers and effectively projecting his ability to stick to walls via static fields out to others in a rough web shape. Lightning Bug will generally stay mobile, flying around and shouting bad jokes at his opponents, while trying to disable them. He generally prefers not to harm others if possible, often opting for using his electro web, unless he is sure the opponent is strong enough to handle his power. If the situation calls for it, he will divert attention to creating powerful force fields to protect himself from danger. Power Descriptions: Ben was empowered when the experimental machine was overloaded with an unknown Terminus. While the explosion killed several others in the vicinity, Ben somehow absorbed the combined energy, which empowered him. At the most basic level, Ben's entire physiology has been enhanced, making him stronger, tougher and more agile than he would otherwise be. His reflexes have been greatly enhanced, as has his balance and the rate at which he is able to process information and perform other mental tasks. He has developed what he calls Electric Senses, allowing him to sense and listen to radio waves in his vicinity, while constantly projecting an electric field around himself where he can sense anything that happens, giving him an effect similar to a radar sense. He can interface directly with digital devices within range by sending electric signals as radio waves. His entire body has become charged with electric energy, making him immune to such effects. He is able to project yellow electric energy from his to achieve a number of effects. By creating a static field on his body, he can stick to any surface, or instinctively slow his fall. By projecting electric bursts from his hands, he is able to fly, as long as he has at least one hand free. By creating a similar effect with his entire body, he is able to move at incredible speeds, basically throwing himself across the field. He can maintain a personal force field by projecting his electric energy all around himself, though this takes some concentration. Generally speaking, the more powerful the force field, the more focus he has to divert, and the easier he will be to hit. Offensively, Ben can use his powers in a number of ways. As a standard, he is electrically charging his muscles to further enhance his strength. This has the secondary effect of making his skin tougher, making him bullet proof, and improving the speed of his movements, making him faster in close combat. Ben's prefered use of his abilities is combat is to project what he has dubbed Electro Web. By projecting his static fields over a wider area, where they take the form of yellow, electrified webs, Lightning Bug can use to capture his targets. He is able to control the size and shape of Electro Webs to a great degree, from to multiple targets. Ben can shoot lightning bolts from his fingers tips, creating several rapid fire strikes at the same time, or gather electricity in his hands to empower his melee blows, either by creating powerful strikes that creates a camera flash like effect when he punches, or by creating a stunning effects. Finally, he can release stored up energy in a powerful Lightning Burst in an area around him, though Ben has little control over this ability. His powers has a peculiar reaction to water. While under water, he cannot use his ability to create static fields, cannot project the energy necessary to fly or move at increased speeds, and all offensive uses of his powers seem to result in an explosion of electric energy in the area around him, denying him the ability to create Electro Webs, lightning strikes and electrified blows. Complications: Not Good With Water: If Ben is in water, he can only set the Lightning Bug Array to use the Dynamic Muscle Power or Lightning Burst array slots, any other attempts at projecting electrical energy simply resulting in a Lightning Burst. If this hinders Lightning Bug by limiting his options, the GM can award him a Hero Point. Uncanny: With Ben's powers coming in part from the Terminus, there's just something off about him. While not everyone seem sense this, some can react rather harshly, hindering him in social situations, awarding him a hero point if necessary. Weight of the World: Numerous people died during the incident that gave Ben his powers, and while he was in a coma for a few weeks after, he believes that he could have done something, anything to save the people. This has given birth to a guilt complex, with Ben being able to feel that just about anything that goes wrong is his fault. While not a crippling, it can be enough to give Ben pause if he is caught in certain situations, such as people getting hurt because he doesn't save them, even if they are capable of saving themselves. Secret Identity: Ben has kept and maintained a secret identity since he first started experimenting with his powers, even keeping his identity as Lightning Bug secret from his parents until the offer to enroll at Claremont. Not that they hadn't figured it out by then, seeing as how he was sneaking out of windows and suddenly returning. Though not a full blown multiple personality disorder, there is a bit of a psychological split between Lightning Bug and Ben, who finds it liberating to wear a mask and hide his identity, even as a lot of Freedom City considers him a menace. Masked Menace: Since the events of Summer 2019, a youtuber going by BugZapper55 has managed to convince a lot of people that Lightning Bug is a menance, at best an inept hero, at worst an outright villain, especially online, the notion even filtering into newspapers, television and more. It is a constant battle for Ben to use his hacking skills for good and not attempt DDOS attacks or worse on BugZapper55. As such, reactions to the Lightning Bug appearing in public can be rather mixed. Zap: Ben can build up a lot of static charge during his day. If he doesn't use his powers for extended periods of time, he might end up accidentally releasing a small charge when touching others. Not enough to hurt anyone, but enough to cause a shock, at least. Naturally, few people find this funny. Ben included. 11. Alright, Robin might have made a mistake here, but she wasn't about to let Kidd just go to town on Blowfish. Sure, she had hit him, too, but that was in self defense. And the defense of everyone around them, when Blowfish had started shooting around like a madman. "No intimidation here. You," she pointed at Blowfish, "shot at a crowd of people and ordered your goons to do the same, all caught on camera. I'm pretty sure that's illegal, confession or not. And after that? Your employees shot at a detective, under your orders, also caught on camera. Resisting arrest and everything, yeah? Same thing goes for everything that you've done to the Wall and his people. You pushed the guy far enough that he was going to kill you. If it wasn't for the shoddy work here, then he would probably have gotten to you. I don't really think we need that confession." She had to take control of the situation again. The Wall was out of the picture, at least for the moment, so now here she was, just Blowfish, Kidd and Jackson. And the goon that was still standing. Push him, just a little bit more. Maybe that would help. "Kidd already got people looking into Johns, and we got plenty of evidence and everything you've done today to to put you away for a long time. So, what's it gonna be? Keep resisting arrest and putting people in danger, or come along quietly?" She paused briefly, just to let what she said think in. "I mean, if I were you, I'd probably pucker up for the picture they'll take at the station."
  12. Well, some perform rolls are always good here! And other results are good too, so let's keep going
  13. GM The Elf King was given pause, even if for but a moment, as ZOMBO! began his show! The pipe was played, and with great skill too, even if it were not Lament's usual instrument! The King's face was unreadable, even as the spectral skeletons rose from the grave. Was he impressed? The opposite? Or did he not care for the music and show at all? The slightest hint of a bend in the corner of his lips appeared, and he pointed out to the card in the very middle. "That one."
  14. ...
  15. "HA! That was amazing!" Pan quickly joined in on the laugh, having skid to a halt with just a flicker of Pixie Dust trailing behind him. It really was amazing. One moment, they were high above the city, hurling towards it at amazing speed. He would have flown, but Corinne had warned him, and he wanted to see what she had planned. And he had not been disappointed. Still on his feet, much like her, he could scarcily believe that they had reached the ground as quickly. And her laughter was infectious! He could not keep himself from joining her, could not stop himself from laughing, without a care for the people on the busy street around them.

  17. The blackness disappeared. Moments later, so did the fog that Pan had conjured. If this Black Rose wished to talk, then talk he would. "Agreed, my friend. It does seem like Mr. Lorenzo here is both." Pan replied to the newcomer. A sorcerer, but he did not seem like Lorenzo, did he now? No, this one was different. Not quite as manic as Lorenzo, and he had been wronged by the man in the leather and glass as well. At the young woman's question, and Lorenzo's statement, Pan bowed, while still flying, the Pixie Dust still falling from him. "Not quite, I am afraid. But I was raised by the Pixies of Neverworld, and the dust was a gift from them. There is your answer, Mr. Lorenzo. But I do not believe it is wise to release you just yet, is it now?" He had already stood up from his bow, but he kept his distance from the sorcerer and his friend, still hovering a bit away. "I am the Forever Boy. What might I call you?"
  18. "Well, you were the one that asked if I was the one from the book." He winked at her. He was not terribly introspective normally, but something about that book and his connection to it seemed to bring it out in him. It was a bit disconcerting, to say the least. But nachos! That sounded wonderful! Much better than all these solemn thoughts! What could be a better solution to something like this than nachos? "A brilliant idea!" And off they were, racing towards the river. "I do not believe that I have tasted that yet! There is so much amazing food on this world, so different from back home!" It was different, this. Flying on not his own accord, but it was interesting. "How fast do you think this can go?"
  19. GM The king scoffed, dismissively waving his hand at Lament. "The plight of mortal children does not give me pause, bard." He strode to his throne, sitting heavily in the seat, then gestured with his hand again, waving it a few times towards Lament. "Entertain me. Show me why you of all people could draw such crowds of mortal, show me why you could bring the Bog Lady to help you. Show me the tale of all that had happened on this very long night!" His request was simple. But would the great Zombo be able to meet it?
  20. That worked... maybe a bit better than Robin had actually expected. Falling down one floor, sure. The Wall was tough. Two, three, four floors? No, that was a bit much. He was hurt, that much was sure, but Robin really didn't have time for dealing with that right now. Kidd's compliment might have made her happy at one point, but she was starting to see things a bit differently now, weren't she? Kidd knew how to play to the cameras, and he was putting on his best show. At least until he told Jackson to cut off the feed. Robin did not like the way he was holding that shotgun. And she was pretty sure there was nothing about due process and criminal legislation that forbade an arrest from being filmed. They had Blowfish on camera, shooting at people. They needed a confession. Camera would be better. And Robin could guess what Kidd was planning when it was turned off. "Keep the camera rolling." From behind her mask, she stared directly into it now. She had a wry grin on her lips under the helmet. "Gotta get Blowfish's confession filmed, don't we?" She then turned to Blowfish and his last goon, moving around so she could still keep an eye on Kidd. "You're saved, Blowfish. So go ahead, talk to the camera. Be nice and tell you exactly what you did to this place, or I'll go get the Wall back. He might be pissed at me now, but I'm sure he'll still do worse to you. And don't forget about Johns and your little gifts to him either."
  21. Robin had set up a notification on the thread, she wanted to check it the moment Terrifica responded. Sure, she didn't expect it right away, she was a busy hero after all, and she had plenty of other work to do anyway, but, well, she wanted to know when. Getting the ping, she quickly switched away from the calculations she had been doing for the suit and back to the AMA thread. She frowned a bit. She really didn't want someone like Terrifica thinking that she was just mindlessly jumping into fights... so she typed out a reply. Sure, Robin didn't have an utility belt yet, but she was planning on it. Could just as well try and find out what she would really need for it.
  22. "Please, no more talk of screwing when talking about these things. I thought it was an entirely different kind of cat that you were searching for." Pan grinned mischievously at Selena, even as he admired her skill in dispatching the cat demon. Yes, it was most impressive. And it had been easy. Moving out of the way to give Nicole room to move about (and really not wishing to get in the way of that big armor of hers in the cramped space), his feet floating slowly across the ground before he touched down again, the Pixie Dust fading from him once more. "True, they were quite easy, were they not? Or perhaps they simple made the mistake of not wearing someone that we would prefer not to injure too much? Or, how is the sentence I have heard... maybe we are just that good?" He knew little about magic in this world, if he was honest, but Nicole's thoughts made as much sense as anything he could come up with. "Perhaps you are right. But if this is indeed a ritual sacrifice, what do they aim to sacrifice? The demon that wore Sam came to us. Were Sam and his friends not sufficient sacrifices on their own, then?"
  23. Fixed the PP for Radiation shields. For now, I'll keep both Radio communication and datalink. I've lowered the level of both and given them the subtle feat. I might make a change with the area extra and selective at some point, but at least for now, my idea is that its just that, a quick burst transmission. I had not been told about the issue with Dimensional Pocket, but I'll be sure to do my best not to abuse it. If I do, let me know. My main idea was just that, as a clean up at the end of the battle, or potentially a way to get one enemy out of the way for a short while.
