  1. OOC for this. @Thevshi, @Supercape, @MoonSimply, @Kaede Kimura
  2. GM The Painted Desert, Arizona March 3rd, 2024 10:00 AM The Painted Desert survival class has been going on for years at Claremont at this point. Rumors have started to spread by now. Most of the time, the chosen students get to spend some time in the Painted Desert, learning how to survive in a hostile environment, seeing some pretty sights. Then there are, of course, the survival classes that go awry. The ones that end up going into a strange mesa that takes them on time travel adventures as they go through the paths. Sure, it sounds outlandish, and after the first or even second trip, it could have been anything, but after the third trip? Well, there is obviously something out in the Painted Desert. The last few years have been calm, at least. Just a normal survival class, nothing happening. Nobody ending up in any mesas or other time periods. Whatever weirdness happens in the Painted Desert is obviously over by now, right? It should just be a regular survival class. Right? That's what the young would be heroes Baltazar Botez, Carmen Alvarez Arrache, Bernadette O’Connell and Vueriz would perhaps think, at least, as the van that has taken them from the airport stops in front of a small house in the middle of nowhere and opens. They have been told where they would go and what they would have to go through. The heat during the day, the massive drops in temperature during the night, having to navigate and survive without using their powers, at least to the extent that they can. A woman with black hair tied into a long braid sits by the house, with a massive backpack sitting next to her. She is wearing a wide brimmed dark grey cowboy hat and tan shorts and t-shirt. "Hey guys, I'm Alexandra Macedon. Welcome to the Painted Desert."
  3. GM "I got no idea," the girl says with a shrug. Despite the change, there is nothing that any of the three young heroes' senses that can detect that seems to suggest anything happened to do with time. No tachyons, no chronal residue, nothing. She's just grown older, like it was a wholly biological effect. "I kinda like it. Being bigger, y'know. I feel stronger." She feels her muscles on her arms for a moment, with a wide grin. She appears to be around 16 years old now, around the age of the three heroes. "I feel pretty great!" She moves towards the manhole cover and reaches for it and then, with one hand, she tears it out of the ground, sending it crashing into a wall that it bounces off with an ungodly amount of noise. "C'mon!" Then she jumps into the hole.
  4. Spaceman "Hey!" Parker has time to exclaim, before Baz pushes him and Lawrence out of the way to get to the girl and tackle her to the ground. He shrugs it off, Baz means well, but like Lawrence points out, he should maybe wait a moment. "She's taller," Parker says. He is aware that is pointing out the obvious, but he finds it important, for some reason. "What made you think that she's a grenade, Buzz?" he asks. The sudden growth spurt, seeming older. She even sounds older, but how could Baz detect it, then?
  5. GM M:>As amusing as it is to contemplate the nature of heroes and villains, the answer here is simple: MarsTech decides the villains, and their subscribers eradicate them. It seems like M has decided to be more direct, now. M:>Defeat the villain, earn points, get more powerful, rinse and repeat. MarsTech and their allies designate the targets. Political enemies. Former employees. The would be heroes that protect our world. M:>Have no doubt: Ultio 2.0 is the weapon of tyrants.
  6. GM Casanova struggles under the weight of the massive dragon, but he is nowhere near strong enough to actually push Nightscale off him. "Let go!" he finally screams, directing a massive flash of purple-white psychic energy directly at the dragon in an attempt to push him off, to hurt him enough that he will finally let go. As Ghule rushes to Shift's aid, the Puppets swarm. Multi-Girl is still holding them back for now, but despite the heroes' efforts, it is only a matter of time. The Conqueror Worm does not react to the damage that Ghule does in her attempts to help. Not visibly, at least. Does a being such as him even feel pain? Does he even care? He does seem to care about the what the heroes are trying to do, which he can clearly see by now. He pushes against the paper that binds him as Shift holds him down, threatening to break it and the android hero. He falls silent, merely beginning to exert an ever increasing pressure.
  7. Toxin clears her bruise, daze, but doesn't get to do anything else. Casanova mind blasts Nightscale: 31, that's a hit. @Nerdzul give me a DC25 Will Save vs. Damage. Remember the Inspire bonus appliy. The Conqueror Worm attempts to break the grapple. @Heritage give me a grapple roll vs. DC33... which is just about the lowest he could have rolled. Remember that Master Plan and Inspire combined gives you a +8 bonus to your roll, aside from your own bonuses. It is up to you if you want to use the Aid bonus for this or save it. @Thevshi is up next! MASTER PLAN 3 ACTIVE: Round 3/6: Everyone gets +3 bonus to attack rolls and skill checks. INSPIRE 5 ACTIVE FOR Shift, Ghule, Multi-Girl, Nightscale and Paper: +5 bonus to attack rolls, saves and checks until Stormcrow's next turn. The Conqueror Worm status: Unharmed, Pinned by Shift (Immobile, No Dodge bonus to defense, Defense -4), Secondary Effect DC25 TOU save on Init 18 from Toxin, Entangled Puppets Status: Weakened by 6, Entangled 22 - Stormcrow - 2HP - Unharmed 22 - Paper - 1HP - Bruise (x1) 22 - Ms. Scorpion - Bruise (x1), Staggered, Bound and Helpless (Rank 15 Snare) 22 - Chump - Bruise (x1) 20 - The Conqueror Worm - 18 - Ghule - 0HP - Bruise (x2), Dazed 18 - Toxin - Bruise (x1), Dazed 16 - Casanova - Staggered, Immune to damage at the moment, Grappled by Nightscale (Bound and Helpless) 14 - The Conqueror Worm - 12 - Multi-Girl - 1HP - Unharmed 11 - Nightscale - 4HP - Injury (x1), Bruise (x1) 11 - Shift - 1HP - Unharmed, Grappling the Conqueror Worm - Aid +2 from Ghule to next attack roll/defense 10 - Shadowborne - 3HP - Unharmed
  8. Space Ranger III J'onn had been a bit cavalier himself before. Sure, the asteroid is serious, but he also got two Star Knights here backing up him, and they got time to deal with it. It's not like it will hit instantly, they got time. And then the Star Khan drops out of nowhere and lands on the asteroid, looking imposing as hell. While Kath'lana goes into a defensive stance with her energy claws, J'onn has already drawn his ray guns, aiming both at them at the Star Khan, his hands on the triggers. This is not the time to take any chances. "Hey, welcome to Korus System you Khan-esty. I don't suppose you're here to help with this hunk of rock?" This is not the Star Khan that J'onn had read about or seen mentioned. He is younger. Much younger. Wasn't there something about a son that had survived the Incursion? Kinarr or something like that?
  9. Spaceman The vacation had been nice, despite Lawrence's revelations. Staying away from everything, without the whole city around and everything was good. The sky, the weather... Parker had enjoyed it, but of course they had to head home. As they prepare to head through the portal, Parker is wearing a pair of jeans and an open black winter jacket with white fur trim over a black t-shirt. Stepping through Lawrence's portal had been instant the last time. One moment in one place, the next in another, with all the different sensations instantly flooding Parker's senses, feeling everything around him on both ends of the portal, but this time, it is different. There is a tug. Something pulling, and then, they are not at Claremont, and about half are missing. They just disappeared, he can't feel them there anymore, not even through the portal before it closes. It is an unsettling feeling to have someone just disappear like that. Lawrence is confused, Consuelo tries to reassure him and try again, Michael wants the to buddy up and try again, and Ryan just seems confused. "We're in the Freedom City," Parker finally says, looking up towards the sky. "It feels like the Theater District. We've..." He stops. A nagging sensation, something he didn't notice at first. "Look at the kids. They're all in costumes." He stops again. Some of the adults and the nearby teens are dressed up as well. Monsters, super heroes, and... "Lawrence, I don't think you should try again right away. I'm pretty sure it's Halloween right now."
  10. Delicious delicious HP...
  11. The STORMCROW Charlie smiles. "Don't worry, it's not a big deal to me, but I know some people that takes it really seriou-" he starts, before stopping, looking at something on the inside of his glasses. He freezes for a moment, then grins. "Sounds good to me, but we'll see. Can't make any promises," he says, the grin still on his lips. "But that's my cue. Sounds like something's up, and I need to get a few people together." He moves towards the door, but stops right in front of it. "Right, one last thing: You don't want a hostile thing, but don't be afraid to put your foot down either, if it comes to it. It's not fun, but you might be in a situation where someone is just too disruptive for whatever you're trying to do. Don't let it ruin all your hard work." Then, he's out the door, disappearing into the night.
  12. Spaceman By the time Parker has reached the beach alongside Vueriz, Consuelo is already declaring herself safe. He shakes his head. Maybe starting out like this was not the best place for starting to learn to swim, if they've almost lost Consuelo already and Baz... has leapt into the water again. "I got him." He can see the green shape out there in the water. He can feel the exact distance. At least water doesn't block his senses. Reach out, grab hold of Baz, focus and increase the distance between him and the bottom of the ocean. Baz lifts out of the water and is brought to the beach, where Parker puts him down, quickly kneeling by him again to check how much water he has swallowed this time. "How about letting Mizuki know when you're ready next time, buddy?"
  13. Spaceman Everything is moving too much. Changing too fast. Everything rewinding, everything around them changing. It happens too fast. Parker is almost always aware of everything around him, and now it is being ripped back and forth, like a child's silly putty, changed to suit Quirk's whims. Too much, too fast. He needs to catch his breath. "Has everything stopped changing?" Something familiar about it. He can't put his finger on it. He's not sure what it is. It doesn't matter. The rules have been changed, again.
  14. Archer does his best work with ambushes! Initiative: 21
  15. Galactic Lore: 28 I'll see what I get out of that before doing an IC post
  16. GHOST A spaceship out near Pluto? On Casper's first visit to the Lighthouse. Go figure. That's... that's exactly why he shouldn't go anywhere. That's the kind of thing that happens when he goes anywhere. Of course Casper knows it has nothing to do with him, beyond League business, but still... the timing is impeccable. "Really? Just here to look around?" Ghost asks the Gaian Knight. "What's the odds of that happening?"
  17. GHOST "I like possibilities," Casper responds with a smile of his own, as they clink their glasses... and then stops in his tracks when Grim's entire look changes. He just stares for a moment. "I, uh... I appreciate seeing both. Yes." He swallows. Why is he still that nervous around people he likes once he tells them? Sitting in his chair, he listens for a moment. He swirls the champagne around in his glass for a moment as Grim talks and explains about herself. He seems thoughtful, at least from what she can see of his face with the mask. "Yeah, well... you know me by now, don't you?" he asks in response, smiling. "I am literally all over the place. I'm a mess. I'm the guy that joined the Freedom League to try and get the kick in my butt needed to get out of a funk." Copying Grim's own motion, Casper empties the champagne from his glass, then raises it with a smile. "I would like to see where this goes. When I'm with you, I feel better about a lot of things than I have in a very long time, but I want to be sure I understand. To what degree do you need that kind of freedom? Flirting? Dating more people?" He shakes his head. "I don't want to give up on something good, but I'm a one woman kind of guy, so I just want to be sure what exactly to expect."
  18. Spaceman Paradox, Felix and Ashley. Those are the ones they need to deal with. The rest of the Starblights can, hopefully, be reasoned with. They can hopefully talk things through and avoid fighting them. As much as he hates to admit it, he doesn't think that will be the case for those three. The others are asking good questions. Keeping the line open. It shouldn't take long to get the location and... Everything cuts off. Orion panics. Parker is already pulling his shirt off, revealing his uniform under it. "Do it," he says to Lawrence. If he doesn't, then Parker will do it by himself. It's not too far away. He should be able to hit it right.
  19. GM M:>Truth it is. The words carry little tone, they seem neutral, but perhaps Haven is right about the flavor. M:>The word of the day is ULTIO. M:>Four years ago, MarsTech introduced the Ultio Suits to the market. If you had the cash or had a sponsorship, you could have powers of your own. M:>Fight the villain, stop the disaster, earn points, become the top ranked hero. M:>The Ultio Suits were discontinued after two years. Officially, the beta period ended. All Ultio Suits were supposedly refunded and returned to MarsTech. M:>MarsTech launched Ultio 2.0 one week ago. M:>So the question is: Who decides who is a villain?
  20. GM "No." The Conqueror Worm sees the tear. He realizes what is going on immediately. "I cannot be contained. The dark forest will not be enough." Despite his words, he does not sound as sure. Once more, he places a hand on Shift's chest, a burning sensation starting to shoot through her system. Chump, for his part, steps back, out of the way of the Conqueror Worm, and instead moves towards Nightscale.
  21. Ms. Scorpion can't get free, so still stuck. Chump moves towards Nightscale, but stops there and doesn't do anything else. The Conqueror Worm is not happy about this. He lashes out at Shift in an attempt to get free: 31 @Heritage give me a DC30 TOU save, remember all the save bonuses from Charlie's boosts. The Puppets swarm still, but let's not bog things down with rolls for them, since everyone should probably make them easily with all of Charlie's boosts. @Heritage is up. Do you want to keep your slot or drop in initiative so everyone can help with getting the Conqueror Worm into the tear? MASTER PLAN 3 ACTIVE: Round 3/6: Everyone gets +3 bonus to attack rolls and skill checks. INSPIRE 5 ACTIVE FOR Shift, Ghule, Multi-Girl, Nightscale and Paper: +5 bonus to attack rolls, saves and checks until Stormcrow's next turn. The Conqueror Worm status: Unharmed, Pinned by Shift (Immobile, No Dodge bonus to defense, Defense -4), Secondary Effect DC25 TOU save on Init 18 from Toxin, Entangled Puppets Status: Weakened by 6, Entangled 22 - Stormcrow - 2HP - Unharmed 22 - Paper - 1HP - Bruise (x1) 22 - Ms. Scorpion - Bruise (x1), Staggered, Bound and Helpless (Rank 15 Snare) 22 - Chump - Bruise (x1) 20 - The Conqueror Worm - 19 - Shift - 1HP - Unharmed, Grappling the Conqueror Worm 18 - Ghule - 0HP - Bruise (x2), Dazed 18 - Toxin - Bruise (x1), Dazed 16 - Casanova - Staggered, Immune to damage at the moment, Grappled by Nightscale (Bound and Helpless) 14 - The Conqueror Worm - 12 - Multi-Girl - 1HP - Unharmed 11 - Nightscale - 4HP - Injury (x1), Bruise (x1) 10 - Shadowborne - 3HP - Unharmed
  22. Spaceman Parker takes it all in. Different timelines, different universes, other versions of Lawrence, and Collapse. The name alone sends shivers down Parker's spine. He takes it all in. His friend has obviously not had an easy time, knowing all of this, and it does explain a lot. "That's not necessarily how it works, Consuelo," he says, rather than address Lawrence immediately. Though he adresses Consuelo at first, he is looking around at everyone. "Lawrence isn't alone, but that doesn't mean he won't ultimately have to be the counter." He stands up. "I was breaking down barriers between universes when I was ten. There's a lot of impossible things out there. Maybe they're right, maybe they're not." A little revelation about himself, too. Stopping, he walks over by Lawrence, then lower to his knees and hugs his friend. "It can't have been easy growing up with all this. I'm so sorry you had to go through it."
  23. Spaceman The moment Lawrence starts talking, Parker can already hear that something is off. His tone is different from his usual self, even when he tries to put his own powers down or hide things about himself. Parker pushes himself up from the position he had been lying in the sand, instead sitting up, his legs crossed, leaning the palms of his hands on them. Different timelines, different universes... It is wild to think about. Parker is, if anything, shocked that he is not more surprised about it, that it doesn't feel stranger to him. He has questions. Of course he does, but right now, he simply waits and nods to Lawrence to let him know that he understands. He is obviously not done.
  24. ARCHER II The snake marks the spot? Right. Archer peeks around the corner, counting the Black Snakes that stand guard. They know that he's coming, but that's fine. It's better like that. A few normal looking goons, and two big guys that look like they're either on steroids or something bigger. Taking out the small fry first is best. Less bullets to dodge. If he catch the big guys, then it'll only be better. He reaches for an arrow in his quiver, twists it once and then lowers it to his string. Back turned, he breathes out once, then steps around the corner. "You know who I am. So come on, show me what you can do." His bow raised, he lets the arrow fly into the middle of the group, where it explodes into rapidly exploding riot foam that quickly starts to harden.
  25. Lots of guards standing in close proximity to each other? Sounds good. First a Fast Demoralize as a Move Action, so -5 (I need to add a feat for that...): 16, which should be opposed by their Will, Sense Motive or Intimidate checks, and they will be Shaken if they fail (-2 on attacks and checks for one round) Gonna use a Snare Arrow with the Area Arrows add-on, so that's a DC16 Reflex Save vs. Area, then DC 16/13 vs. the Snare. Might catch them off guard, if they haven't seen him before the demoralize! Archer is making sure to stay at the end of the hallway, so that any that he doesn't get hopefully doesn't reach him during their first turn.
