  1. GM The beast approached slowly, emerging from the mists. Somehow, Lament just knew: This was a troll. It was gigantic, with long, lanky limbs. From longer distance away, one might think its arm thin and frail, but this close, Lament could see its sinewy muscles. Its skin was light grey, its nose wide. Ears were long, stretching to the sides of its head. It was covered in a dark fur. Beneath its nose were a mouth with a strong underbite, a fang stretching out from the mouth to each side of its nose. Its eyes were small and dark. He could see no emotion in them. A long, hairy tail lashed behind it. Behind him, he could see the lights that would guide him to his quarry were beginning to go out. It was a slow affair. A light disappearing every 20 seconds or so. It would reach him soon, however, and if he lost those lights, then he would surely lose his path. The troll saw the lights as well. It smiled. A cunning smile, a smile devoid of empathy. Then it set into a run, in the same direction that Lament had been heading.
  2. Initiative: 1d20+10 = 16
  3. Wow. How did someone like Kidd ever make detective? Robin just stared at Kidd in disbelief. This guy was just too much. First the Gas Man, now this? Why couldn't she ever team up with someone that was actually heroic and not just looking into causing trouble or stopping someone for their own weird reasons? "Way he looks, he could probably take a hit from your shotgun and keep going." Robin commented, looking over at the Wall. She had something better, at least. "Any idea what they're talking about?" It could be a lead. Jumping them like this here might not be the best choice. Five against two weren't great odds, and who knew how many others were there?
  4. GM The path through the fog was long, but at least the lights illuminated the path. The silence had lifted, just a bit. There were animals about now, as Lament was led towards a small forest. He heard a rustle, a stick that snapped. Something was coming closer. Something was near him now. Another snapped stick, to the left. He could make out a massive shape in the darkness, one that approached him slowly. How would he react? Another challenge on his way to Lament's quarry, perhaps?
  5. A Notice roll along the way, if you leave the Bog Wife. Feel free to post, however you follow the lights.
  6. GM The bog wife smiled. She stopped her brewing, even if just for a moment. A path started to clear through the fog. "I see. Perhaps you will do, bard. Perhaps you will do." The fog began to clear, just a little bit. But what was more important, and interesting to Lament, at least, were the lights that had begun to appear. Shining, light blue, stretching into the fog, farther than his vision would allow. "Follow the ghost lights. Do not stray from their path. It will do you no good." She resumed brewing, whirling the ladle in the cauldron. "But beware, bard. Your path might be short, but your ordeals are far from over. Be true, and you might succeed." She stopped, tasting whatever was in her cauldron. "Actually, no. Do not just be true. Be great. Be awesome. Then, you will succeed! And beware. There are other things in the Commons, far worse than me."
  7. I'm in! I'll decide on which character when I'm a bit more awake, depending on what you're looking for. Depending on reasons and such, Forever Boy might be a good fit for the adventure, or Dust Devil for the Magic Mesa sending him!
  8. GM The A.E.G.I.S. commander seemed unsure of what to respond to Asad. He seemed like he wanted to say something, before he just moved to the door and exited the room. A voice came a loudspeaker in the room. "Gonna open the doors now, boys an' girl! Get ready for a big drop!" It was obviously not the commander. Maybe the pilot. A door unlocked, and it was clear that the flight had moved lower. Opening the door would reveal that they were about 20 meters above the water surface, with the vessel simply hovering. Not a short fall, by any means, but nothing that either of the three heroes should have any trouble with. "Good luck, heroes. It's go time." The same voice as before. A much friendlier tone than the commander.
  9. "It's English. And I don't speak Spanish either!" Robin whispered back. No, she was not going to let that go, even if they had to be stealthy. If they had only be talking in some programming language or something like that, then she could have listened in. So, they were close now. Five people, one of them in a luchador mask. Should she take the first shot? Robin didn't like shooting without first giving a warning. It just felt wrong. She didn't want do do something like that, and not just because she didn't entirely trust Detective Kidd. Still, she gripped the Justice Buster close, and peeked up at the giant man. Looking over at Detective Kidd, she whispered her quick question. She wanted to be sure about this, before taking a chance. "Big guy's the Wall, right?"
  10. GM She chuckled again. There was something not quite human about the laugh. "You are a witty one, are you not, bard? Perhaps you will do." She stirred the giant ladle. She was slowing down. The fog was lifting. "I know who took the children. And I know why, though it is not my place to tell." Another stir. "Your wit appear to be true. You might be able to handle the challenge to come." Yet another stir. "But how far are you willing to go? Will you risk more than just your reputation? More than just your life?" Yet another stir. Lament was beginning to see something in the fog. Or rather, of the fog. Faces in the white fog. They were twisted, in pain and agony. "How about your eternal soul? Will you risk that, to save the children of people you will never know?"
  11. Stealth roll: 1d20+2 = 13
  12. Wow, Kidd expected a lot from her, didn't he? First stealth field, now a zip line? What's next? A big honking instant cover wall? That might actually be an idea to implement for later... "No..." Robin's tone was a bit defeated. They had made it this far, but she really didn't want to get into too much trouble before they had a chance. "Just to make it clear: I got a suit that protects me, and I got a gun that shoots a kinetic blast. That's about it, right now. I'm working on a lot of things, but just because they aren't ready, that doesn't mean I should just let people like Blowfish, the Wall and Jackson do what they want, right?" That should hopefully clear up some of the capabilities, at least. So, down the shaft... or down the stairs, where they might bump into someone. Looking quickly over the shaft, she turned back and shook her head. "No way we'll be able to make it down there. Let's head for the stairs." Bringing out her phone, Robin made sure to mute the Justice Driver, before she entered the code to transform. No reason to announce their being here to everyone. In a moment, her red and gold suit had unfolded. Maybe not the most stealthy thing, but she could take hits better with it on. "I'll take point." Drawing out the Justice Buster, she moved towards the stairs, slowly starting to descend. Anyone showed up, she would be ready.
  13. GM The bog wife chuckled, as she stirred her cauldron. "Oh, was he now? I suppose that you would know, would you not?" At least, it did not seem that Lament being pleased with himself did anything to harm his stance with the woman of the bog. She seemed to contemplate his words for a moment. "Is that so, bard? Did someone steal the children that watched your performance?" She seemed to ponder her words carefully, even as she stirred her cauldron. A never ending motion, moving on and on, almost hypnotic. Only almost. "Do you fear for you reputation, if the mortals believed you to steal the children, now? Is that your purpose here, hmm?"
  14. "Probably, but I'm curious by nature!" It had taken a few moments of dancing that had been filled with laughter from both of them, but he had managed to get a response out, as their fingers were laced together, as she rose up above him. And then everything was upside down, he was falling upwards, or down, everything was shifting. It was confusing, it was disorienting, but he held on through it all. The world was shifting and turning, but he could stabilize himself. Still holding Zenith's hands, he spun into yet another dance move, swirling around her, as he laughed the entire way, before grabbing her hand once again, pulling at Zenith to send her into another spin. No more words, then. Dance, it was!
  15. GM Laughter filled the room, coming from behind Oswald. Even as the terrified penguin looked up at him, the laughter continued, before abruptly stopping, being replaced by loud clapping. "Bravo, good sir! Bravo! It has been too long since someone has put Barney there in his place!" It was a man's voice, and if he turned, Oswald would find a man with a long red beard, tied into a braid at the front. His red hair was cut short. He was dressed in a dark green t-shrit and a pair of jeans. The t-shirt had a big picture of Santa Claus printed on it. There seemed nothing too extraordinary about him, until one noticed the sparkling rings that adorned his fingers. Placing the glasses in his hand on his brow, he approached Oswald and Barney the penguin. "Now, please, leave poor Barney alone, and we shall discuss what brings you to my door!"
  16. GM It was easy to follow the hum, even in the heavy fog. Lament might not be able to see the path ahead, but he could hear it! He continued through the fog, until, finally, he came to a bog. There was a woman standing near the edge, a heavy ladle held in her hands, which she moved in circles in a large cauldron. She was dressed in a ragged grey dress, her hair long and greying, though it had clearly once been an almost golden blonde. She was beautiful, but unlike the Elf, she was aged. There was something about her that made it easy to understand that she was ancient. The fog that filled the area seemed to come from the cauldron. She continued humming for a moment, before turning to look at Lament, stopping with a smile on her er lips. "Greetings, traveller. It has been long since I last heard another hum this tune. It pleases me." She paused, focusing on her cauldron again for a moment, before looking up again. "What brings you here? I doubt you are here simply to visit an old woman."
  17. At least they managed to make it away from the protest without too much trouble, and it didn't seem like anyone had noticed them leaving. Probably for the better. The building was already in use, despite beign unfinished. They tennants were probably desperate, or squatters. At any rate, Robin saw no reason to go at them. The Wall though, he was a good choice for someone to stop here. Someone where Robin wouldn't have to doubt whether she was doing the real thing or not. If she could trust Detective Kidd, at least. "Nothing like that, sorry." She paused for a moment. "Yet. I'm working on something like that." And about a few hundred other potential upgrades. Work in progress and all that. And she did need to make some real progress soon. Looking over at Kidd's shotgun, Robin couldn't help but frown at the way he was handling the weapon. Kidd was trouble, wasn't he? Just what was she getting into?
  18. GM The Elf stayed behind, watching as Lament moved into the depths of the fog that covered the Amager Commons. The smile had fallen from her face. The fog was thick. Almost impossibly so. Lament could see maybe ten meters ahead, when the light of the moon fell just right. All he could do was search for this bog wife, that the Elf had mentioned. The ground beneath his feet varied between being solid, but covered in wet grass, to marsh that he almost sunk into. It was eerily quiet. This was a place of nature, all but untouched by man, even if Lament had not made it far from the buildings. And yet, not a sound. His search led to to little, and soon he was hopefully lost in the fog, and yet... he heard a sound. A woman's voice, humming in the darkness, humming a melody that he could not place.
  19. Never got shot again, huh? Didn't sound like he was bullet proof, really. Probably less so than her full suit, at least. She shook her head. What did she really want to do here? Team up with a cop, even someone as rough as Detective Kidd, and try to take down the Wall? Or stick around, eventually get caught on camera by Jack Jackson, probably doing or saying something stupid? Not that her hanging out with Detective Kidd was something that Jackson would spin into something nice. Robin paused a bit at Kidd's suggestion. Stop the wall? Yeah, that part sounded good. Bullets? Not so much. Still... she had to do something, right? And that might keep things calm here. "Y'know what? Let's do it. But I got something better than bullets." And non-lethal, too.
  20. A speedster and Asad on the same day, this was awesome! And now both were talking to Robin at the same time? She had never even met other heroes before, and here was Asad! And Robin didn't even have her costume on. Should she tell them? No, probably not. Secret identity, right? It wasn't a thing about super heroes telling others their secret identities at their first meeting, right? She really hoped it wasn't. "I'm Robin! Robin Lynne Langley! I'm a huge fan!" She was keeping herself from bouncing, but she was cluthing her hands in front of her chest, a huge grin plastered on her face. Robin realized that the speedster kid had answered her, too. No need to be rude. "Oh, sorry! I'm just really interested in super powers! There's not a lot of super heroes around Emerald City."
  21. Wonderful. Not about to get Blowfish taken down that easily, then. So much for that plan. So, what else could Robin do? This was the second time that the Wall had been mentioned. That guy sounded like trouble, too. So at least 3 side and counting in this, just another way everything could go to hell in a handbasket. "Right. Nothing that easy." She had been creeped out by the way Kidd looked down the barrel of his shotgun, but she tried not to let it show. No reason to give him that, right? "So, you're really bulletproof, or just like playing with loaded guns with the safety off? And what's this Wall guy's deal, then? You think he's gonna show tonight?" If he did, then what? She couldn't fight all those people and make sure that Kidd didn't shoot anyone, all at once.
  22. GM The Elf paused. She looked up at the moon, following an unseen line to its reflection in the water. "... I will be punished." She was hesitating. She closed her eyes, looking down. Maybe Lament's words had an effect on her? Maybe he had said just the right thing? Or maybe it was something else? It was hard to say. "I cannot tell you who stole the children. And I cannot tell you why. That is something you will have to find out for yourself." She looked up, the hint of a smile playing over lips. "But I can point you in the right direction." She turned, away from him again. She extended one arm, pointing out into the darkness of the commons. A thick fog was starting to spread in the darkness of the open meadows, hills, bogs and forest. "The bog wife is brewing tonight. A feast fit for a king, I wager. Go into her fog. Maybe you can find her. Maybe she can help you."
  23. GM "I am not a penguin!" the penguin squawked in its deep voice. It quickly waddled around him, flapping its wings, until it stopped when the blunt of his umbrella was pointed at it. Oswald could actually hear the penguin swallowing heavily. He could almost see beads of sweat running down its scalp, but of course, it was a penguin. It couldn't sweat like that, could it? "I am the butler! And you have not been allowed entrance! You are a burglar and a trespasser, and I will have you leave immediately, if you know what is good for you!" It was insistent, at least.
  24. GM "Err..." the commander was obviously surprised by Asad's comment. A nuclear warhead, a large scale energy weapon? "We..." He was interrupted by Sea Devil. It was clear that he was uneasy about her presence, and Asad's comments had not helped. He looked fully up from his tablet for perhaps the first time since he had started his speech. "Yes, err, nothing like that. I hope. At least not until you are out. I, errr, really don't want to anger any sisters." He didn't seem quite sure about what he was saying, at least. He stopped, listening to something on his headset, before turning back to the heroes. "We're there!" And then he realized he had forgotten something. The realization was entirely visible on his face. "Oh, yes, communicators!" He walked over to the side of the room, quickly bringing back a briefcase, opening it to produce three small devices. It looked like headsets, with some additional features. Probably water resistant, at least. The ones for Sgt. Shark and Sea Devil had been modified for their physique. "These should work, I hope." "If that is all, I will move back, before the doors open for your drop."
  25. Robin really didn't know Kidd well enough to know if he was joking or not. Given how he had acted until now, she really doubted that it was just a joke. "Be nice." The camera's could just about catch that, and then she would get in trouble when Jackson blew that up to something big and exciting. Robin was at least glad that she had managed to not make a giant fool out of herself. Nothing he could spin, nothing he could use against her. There would probably be plenty of time for that later, if things escalated here. Kidd was right about one thing, at least. Jackson's presence did not make this a better place. The question was if he would actually rile something up, or tempers would flare up on their own. She would need help to stop it, if it came to that. A plan was starting to form. She looked around to make sure that nobody was close enough to hear them before continuing. "Hey, Kidd. You wanna take Blowfish down, yeah? How about doing it the right way, so he ends up in prison somewhere, for a good long time?" She grinned at him. "Any idea if there might be some evi-dence nearby that could point to all the things you told me?" It was probably a long shot, but hey. Might work.
