  1. And the girl had just zipped away again, leaving Robin standing. Probably didn't even hear her. Well, alright. Completely fine. She would just keep browsing, then, buuuut... that commotion near the front was starting to sound pret-ty interesting. Robin's curiosity got the better of her, and she went closer, seeing one of the employees talking to a man in a really nice suit. She couldn't quite make out what they were saying from her position a bit away, but the tension was thick enough to cut with a knife. And then she recognized the man. She at least managed to hold back the squee that built, instead of just going with the incredibly dignified "Omigod you're Asad!" A real, life super hero, right here! This was awesome!
  2. Fail by 7, so that's Dazed and Bruise. And Facsimile is in free fall, unless he or Rev does something!
  3. If I understand it right, you can use the HP for that effect. The message will arrive at some point within the next 12 hours. How much time you spend is up to you, but Oz will feel a certain urgency, like if he doesn't react to it quickly, then the chance will be lost.
  4. Facs was fast. Clock was ticking, the count going lower and lower with every second. "22... 21... 20... 19... "Could he prevent the damage in time, as he rocketed towards the sky? Carrying the fallen platform, as it threatened to self-destruct in his hands? "14... 13... 12" Would he be able to get out of reach of any and all of the tall buildings that surrounded Wading Way? "9... 8... 7..." He was fast. His borrowed power catapulted him into the sky, like a shooting star in reverse. "5... 4... 3..." And he was fast enough. "2... 1... Goodbye." The explosion was deafening. It was not one of the biggest the city had seen, but if it had exploded on ground level, the damage could have been immense. Windows were blown out on the upper floors of the nearby buildings, the shockwave barely reaching the ground. And as for Facsimile? What was his fate?
  5. Facs: +1 HP for his heroic sacrifice. And I'll consider that a direct hit, so can I get a Toughness save?
  6. The man happily accepted Oswald's cash. After all, was he not a salesman? And if some information could make him a sale, then should he not? His smile remained broad. Perhaps a bit too broad for what it should be. He quickly gathered some choice long pig, freshly prepared. He placed it in a black plastic tray, quickly folding a piece of thin plastic over it, to protect it contents. Then into a brown paper bag, which he ended over to Oswald. "Here you go, my friend! You should receive a message before long! Make your preparations, mind your step, and may fortune favor you!" It would be a bit longer than Oswald had anticipated, before he received a message. But it gave him time to make his preparations. And to make sure that Astra had not wandered off. How he would choose to spend his time, was entirely up to Oswald.
  7. OOC for this.
  8. GM December 7th, 2018 11:30 PM Southside, Freedom City There were those who slept soundly at night. There were those who spent the Friday night partying. And there were those that hunted. And there were those that were hunted. Duab had been hearing rumors about Southside lately. Men, women and children, taken in the night. Taken from the streets, taken from their homes. It had not been enough to reach any major news yet. After all, it was mostly poor families that were targeted. Perhaps the abducters was connected to the ones that had taken Duab's family. Perhaps they were not. In any case, this was something that might draw Duab's attention. The snow fell silently, masking the injustice that was happening in the night. Who would be the next target? What family would be torn apart next? Or would a blind huntsman step in to save the day?
  9. Chatting with SuperCape in the chat inspired me to do an ocean focused thread, preferably starring some sea based heroes (and any others that might be interested). I'm still putting together the exact ideas, but wanted to test the waters. So, anyone interested? EDIT: Gonna be going with a max of 3 characters here. I'll pick the ones that'll fit best.
  10. It felt kind of good to get the last word in. Maybe Mrs. Doors just needed someone to talk back at her every once in a while, and she would be much nicer? Robin smiled a bit about the thought, then went on with her work. She had a 3D printer to check on, and a meeting to get to later. --- Without getting too close the commotion, Robin had managed to get to the Sunny Sunshine Immigrant Centre, looking at the events from a bit away as the protesters began to gather. No reason to get too closely mixed up in that whole mess, but she had to stay close enough to keep an eye on them. Somebody might need a hero to show up. Spotting Jack Jackson, Robin winced. He looked almost exactly like when she had last seen him on tv with Lucas Jr., even if it was years ago. He kept himself looking young, kept to the same style. He wasn't some fancy news reporter, he wasn't above the people, he was one of them. While she couldn't really hear what he was saying, Robin decided it would be better to stay back, with her grey hoodie pulled up around her face. No reason to get caught on camera here, after all.
  11. Initiative: 1d20+9 = 17
  12. "But isn't that refuge center built exactly because of a community spirit?" She could use Mrs. Doors own words against her, if need be. Robin's own family might not be immigrants, but she had several friends that were. And really, given the mix of people in Emerald City, Mrs. Doors views seemed a bit behind the curve. Robin placed her hands on her hips as she spoke. She was not going to back down now! "Sure, and democracy is great! It means we all get to be heard, but it also means that we don't start fighting when we don't get our way, if the majority decision ended up being against you, right? I mean, there's no reason for hard feelings, just because the others won, right? Protesting, making your voice heard and all, but you can still be civil about it. Right?" Robin doubted Mrs. Doors would be violent in her protests. She just wasn't built for something like that, even if people could surprise you, but it still felt good to try and point that out to her. It wasn't like everyone just wanted to be civil at gatherings like that.
  13. The leaves were everywhere in this room. This was it, then. Setho's seat of power. His domain. He had the home field advantage here, but they knew that already. The statues were strange. Even stranger than before. Just looking at them made Cassidy feel weird. Out of sorts with himself. And there was Setho. Ready for them, waiting for them. No chance of surprising him, then. And they had come to a when after he had first found them. Figures. Of course the Mesa wouldn't try to make this easy for them. Looking at his companions, it was clear what the Lemurians wanted to do. Spears and fangs. They would kill Setho, if given the chance. Fine, if it came to that. He was not about to stop them. Cassidy looked to Venomax. "We gotta be ready, if he calls more vermin. And that snake around him doesn't look too kind." Cassidy had his own plans. Find out if Setho was really here. And go straight for him. Be quick, be strong. Hit him as hard as he could, as quick as he could.
  14. "I never doubted that you would, Mrs. Doors!" Robin's tone was as cheerful as always. She honestly didn't doubt that Mrs. Doors would go and do her part, no matter how much Robin might agree or disagree. The woman just wanted to be important, and even more than that, she wanted everyone else to think that she was an important, upstanding citizen. But... Maybe Robin would actually like to debate this, instead of always letting Mrs. Doors get the last word in? Maybe just this once? "I don't really see the big deal, I guess. We gotta help people in need, don't we? What if you were in their situation, and there had been some kind of war here, and you were in need? Wouldn't you want somebody to help you out?" Her tone had gone a bit harder than usual. Maybe some of the things she had seen and done since she started calling herself Justice was rubbing off on her a little bit? She could still be a hero without being a doormat, couldn't she?
  15. "Yes, the youtube is quite useful, is it not? Here, give me your number, and I shall see what I can do." It did not seem that the butcher wanted to share his own information. And truly, why would he? He was not the one inquring about information, after all. "Oh, that is something you will have to decide for yourself, is it not? Whatever you think of the menagerie, I am not one to judge. I supply feed, and happily so. It is good for business, if nothing else." He still smiled. "And I am sorry, but I hope that you do not look upon me with unkindness, but I would rather not they found out just who told you about the menagerie. Bad for business, you understand." The man still smiled. "Now... as a token of good faith, and trust that I will deliver... what will you have, my friend?" He gestured to the booth behind him. Beyond anything else, it seemed that he was a businessman.
  16. GM As it just so happened, Dr. Midas' armor did enhance his strength. "Brat! Get off me!" It wasn't easy, but he managed to use the brute force that his suit apparently gave him. It was impressive, in its own way. He actually managed to physically untangle himself, pulling Rev's hands off him, before letting go and staggering a few steps to the side. Never let it be said that he gave up easy. The clock was ticking on the bomb. It wouldn't take Facsimile long to get out of there with the power of the rockets that he had copied from Rev... but would it be fast enough? And would he be tough enough to withstand the blast, if he couldn't get out of the way fast enough?
  17. Now, let's see if I get grappling right. Opposed grapple to break free: 1d20+25 = 42 So, he's out. And since Midas is staggered, he's out of moves. Current status: Armor Thug 1: Unconscious - Escaped Armor Thug 2: 24 - Bruised - Escaped Rev: 15. HP 2 - Bruised, Staggered. Facs: 11 HP 1 - Unharmed Dr. Midas: 8 - Bruised (x2), Staggered Unless any of you wanna try anything else with the bomb, I'll make it explode next turn.
  18. Introduction Who are you? Sum yourself up in one sentence. I Pan Barrie, the Forever Boy. Adventurer, hero, traveller between worlds! Do you have any nicknames, street names, titles, or nom de plume? The Forever Boy is pretty great for that, don't you think? What is your full birth name? Not sure. The Pixies called me Pan, and I took the surname Barrie while I was with the Lost Heroes. So Pan Barrie is the closest, I suppose. Where do you live? The dorms at Claremont Academy. How old are you? What year were you born (if applicable)? Oh, I'm sixteen. I have been sixteen for a long, long time. Physical Traits What is your gender? If not applicable, please explain. It is Forever Boy, is it not? How would you describe your heritage? Out of this world! How tall are you? 5'10'' What is your body type? Slim and athletic. Do you have any particular weaknesses, such as allergies or physical disabilities? None! How do you carry yourself? Are you graceful, or heavy on your feet? Can you be stealthy, do you walk with confidence? I'm graceful and light on my feet. I usually care myself with confidence, but I can be stealthy, if there is a need. Describe your skin, eye, and hair color. Fair, somewhat tanned skin, green eyes, dark red hair. How do you wear your hair, if applicable? Do you have facial hair? I tend to wear it loose. I rarely care to use a brush or comb. Let my hair fly free! Do you consider yourself attractive? Do others? I don't know, but it seems that others think so. Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings, or birthmarks? None. Do you resemble anyone famous? Not as far as I know. Do you have a dominant hand? My right. What kind of clothing do you wear? I like mostly form fitting clothes. Green and red clothes are best, but I'm willing to go for other colors. I prefer not wearing anything too dark. Do you wear makeup? No. What is your vocal range? Is your voice distinctive in some way? I tend to fall on the lighter side. Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? I tend to fly or float when I get excited. And I get excited pretty easily. Comes from my upbringing, I suppose. Pixies are kind of different compared to most humans, after all. I've had remarks, and it has annoyed some, but it is simply part of who I am. History Where do you come from? I was raised by Pixies on Wish Isle on Neverworld. Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? That depends. Is moving from one world to another major? Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? I'm loyal to Wish Isle, yes, but the other questions doesn't really apply. How do you feel about the place you come from? Neverworld is wonderful! There's adventure everywhere! Where is your home town? What was/is it like? Wish Isle is on Neverworld. It was rather peaceful, with many creatures that is just considered myths here. Growing up, were most of the people you knew similar to you, or were you somehow a minority? How did that affect you? Oh, I was very much a minority. I was the only human among the Pixies! And they did their best with me, they really did. Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? Tricks and mischief tends to come naturally. Some like it and find it fun, others not so much. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? I don't know what happened to my parents or who they were. They likely abandoned me, and the Pixies found me. Briefly describe a defining moment in your childhood and how it influenced your life. The Pixies flew, never realizing that I could not. I was left alone, thought myself abandoned again. Then they came back, and didn't leave my side until I left Wish Isle. What stupid things did you do when you were younger? So many! Stealing honey from a thunder bear comes to mind! Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? No school among the Pixies! Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? The Pixie Dust, I suppose. It is always with me. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? I had left Wish Isle to explore Neverworld. For a long while, I played tricks and created mischief. Then I saw the devastation that the Hooked Man and his Sky Pirates left behind. Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? Sometimes. Being a hero leads to adventure, and I like to tell others that. I don't like to dwell on dark and solemn things, and this reason is just as good. Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? Nothing I have done, but I still know nothing about my parents Do you represent yourself as being different from who you really are? Why? I am, who I am. Why should I hide that, if not to play a trick? If you do have these secrets, what do you fear would happen if the truth became known? How far would you go to protect those secrets? I hide little from my friends. I trust them, after all. Do you have any sort of criminal record? If so, is it public knowledge? No record. I have stolen on both Neverworld and in Freedom City, but I am making amends. On Neverworld, it was simply for mischief. In Freedom City, it was to survive. Family What are your biological parents' names? I do not know. Were you raised by them? If not, please explain and describe who raised you. No, I was raised by the Pixies of Wish Isle. What was their standing in the community? What did/do they do for a living? The Pixies are communal, they care little for standing. This does not really apply to them. They just did what they did, because they wanted to. Where are your parents now? I do not know. Did your family stay in one area or move around a lot? The Pixies tended to stay at Wish Isle, but some joined me for my later travels. How did you get along with their parents? How do you get along with them now (if applicable). It was great! They taught me all they knew, attempting as good as they could to teach me to behave as a human, even if they were Pixies. I last saw them retreating to Wish Isle, when I joined the Lost Heroes. They were happy for me, however. How do your parents view you now, or how would they? I do not know my parents, but I believe that the Pixies are proud. Do you have any siblings? If so how many and what are their names? Describe your relationship with them. I don't know. What was your birth order in the family? I don't know. Where are your siblings now (if applicable)? Do they have families of their own? What do they do? I really don't know. Do you stay in touch with them or have you become estranged? Wouldn't know how to, if I knew about any. Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular? Not at all. Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)? The Pixies all took care of me, but the one named Tinker was probably my closest companion, always trying to keep me safe. Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)? If so, please explain. No. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? If so, please explain, including how it has affected your life. I really wouldn't know. Do you have a partner and children currently? If so, please describe them. No. If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? Maybe. I don't know. It is quite difficult for most to reconcile the fact that of how long I have been sixteen with a relationship, I have found. What type of person would be your ideal mate? Someone that shares my sense of adventure! Relationships Do you have any close friends? If so, please describe them, and how you came to be close to them. I am growing closer with many of my fellow students at Claremont. The closest right now would probably be Nicole, after she invited me to spend Thanksgiving with her, and Micah, my roommate. They are quite wonderful people. Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? I don't really know. I suppose Tinker was my closest friend back home. She always watched out for me, and we could tell each other anything. Even when she complained about the other Pixies. If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? My friends at Claremont at least, I hope! And I'm sure that the Lost Heroes are worried about me back home, if any made it out alive. Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? I have had my shares of loves, almost all brief. Not many could handle that I was sixteen forever, while they grew older. They moved on, and so did I. Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. The Hooked Man and his Sky Pirates are my greatest enemies. They're a threat to all of Neverworld, and what spurred me into heroics in the first place. I have fought them numerous times, winning and losing. My last fight with the Hooked Man sent me to Neverworld. If you have enemies, how do you think they might attempt to work against you in the future? Oh, the Hooked Man is devious. He launches attacks in full force, he employs deception and manipulation. The Sky Pirates are not so subtle, but they do the bidding of their leader. What is the worst thing someone has done to you? My parents abandoned me. I don't even remember them. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? Friends, adventure, freedom, heroics, in that order. Who or what do you trust the most? Why? If someone is my friend, I trust them. Its as simple as that. Who or what do you despise? Why? The Hooked Man, for the terror he has brought to Neverworld. What qualities do you admire most in other people? Are these qualities you possess? Being friendly and heroic. Being clever and adventurous. To believe and find wonder in the world around you. And I do believe I'm all that and more. What qualities do you hate most in other people? Do you have any of those qualities? I dislike when people are too serious, at least without a cause. Evil is a hard quality to understand. Why would they do such things? Do you have a secret identity? If so, who knows it? Do you hide it from people who are close to you? Why? I suppose that I have a secret identity as Pan Barrie while on Earth Prime. It does not matter much to me, but I have been told that it is customary for most heroes to have such here. Pan is the Forever Boy, and the Forever Boy is Pan, but I try to follow the customs. The students and teachers at Claremont know, perhaps a few others. It is honestly not a big deal for me. Do you work well on teams and in groups? Are you a leader or a follower? I can be either, depending on the situation. I believe that I work well with others, though I do tend to choose my own paths, and I do not take well to direct commands or orders. Are you on a super team? If so, how do you get along with your comrades? Do you trust them, or do you have secrets from them? I am a member of the Blue Squad at Claremont Academy. I trust my teammates completely, of course. Are you a member of any church, fraternal organization, club, committee, political party, or other group? How much time do you spend on that? I am a member of the Claremont Academy tabletop gaming club. I attend every meeting that I can. Personality & Beliefs Who are your heroes? The Lost Heroes taught me much in our time together, and I suppose that they fit. Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what were the circumstances? I had heard that Ahab the Whalehunter was a great hero that sought to slay the Great White Whale. When I found him, he was a cruel man, as much a danger as the Great Destroyer itself. Do you like being a hero? If so, what is the most rewarding part? If not, what makes you keep doing it? Yes! I love the adventure, I love saving others! What more do you need, after all? Is there anything that would make you give up hero work, or even switch sides? No, I don't think so. What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? Finding a way back to Neverworld would be great, but just having adventures on Earth Prime will do as well. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? Continuing the adventure that is my life, of course. What is your greatest fear? Why? What do you do when something triggers this fear? Not being able to return to Neverworld at some point. I fight through it. It won't stop me. Is there anything you would give you life for? A friend. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Is it a mark of success, or a means to an end? I don't really care about such things. How do you generally treat others? I'm generally friendly, but I often play pranks or tricks. I do try not to be mean about it. Are you a trusting person? Has your trust ever been abused? Yes. And yes, but I won't let some bad experiences taint me. Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)? Do you have a lot of self-confidence? Oh, I am most definitely extroverted. And I am supremely self confident. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? As I would anyone else. There is more to persons than their looks, after all. What are your most annoying habits? I have some problems staying focused or still when I get bored, and my attention can, in general, flitter about a bit. Do you feel contempt for any general category of people? Who are they, and why? Not really. What is your favorite food? Do you prefer any particular type of food? Do you take the time to enjoy your food, or do you eat as fast as you can? Since coming to Earth Prime I have found a great love for burgers, after being suggested I try one on my first day at Claremont. An excellent choice! And it really differs. I can scarf down food with the best of them, but at times I like to just savor the taste. What is your favorite drink (alcoholic or otherwise)? They have this thing called Soda or Pop on Earth Prime. It is absolutely wonderful. So many different tastes! What is your favorite treat (dessert)? Ice cream. No question there. Are there any specific foodstuffs that you find disgusting or refuse to eat? I am not a fan of Spinach. Or Octopi. What is your favorite color? Are there any colors you dislike? Green and red! I don't like dark colors, or browns and greys. What sort of music do you like? Is there any that you hate? I'm open to just about anything. Especially something with a quick beat. Earth Prime has such wonderful varied music, and so many ways to find it! If you have a favorite scent, what is it? Roses. Do you have a favorite animal? I really like butterflies. What is your most treasured possession? Why? The Pixie Dust that surround and empower me. It is a sort of possession, a gift from the Pixies. Do you enjoy "roughing it", or do you prefer your creature comforts? Oh, I'm fine with either, as long as its an adventure. Is there a job or a task you would absolutely refuse to do? If it involves hurting a friend or innocent. Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? If so, how do your beliefs affect your life? How important is it to you? Not really? Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special? No. If you belong to a religious organization, how often do you attend? Do you have a specific place of worship, or friends within the organization? How much do you agree with the beliefs of your organization? I do not. Could you kill? Have you killed? Yes. And I have. What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? War. The Sky Pirates were pillaging a city. Innocents would have died, if I had not. Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? When there are no other choice, and if it is to protect innocents or friends. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? Would your reaction be different if the killer was a friend or an enemy of yours? It all depends on whether it was justified or not. I don't believe an enemy would have the same reason or conviction as a friend would. How would you react if something important was stolen from you? I would get it back. How would you react to public humiliation? With a laugh. How would you react if a good friend or relative were purposely or accidentally killed? Has it happened to you? I would take revenge. And yes. What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why? Hurting or killing without just cause. If your life were to end in 24 hours, what five things would you do in those remaining hours? I would spend time with friends, on one final adventure. What more would I need? Career & Training Do you have any special training in your hero skills? If so, where and how did you get it? The Pixies taught me to fly and play tricks. The Lost Heroes taught me to fight. Who taught you the most about your heroing abilities? What was your relationship with that person? That was probably Tinker. She taught me to fly, and to play my tricks. How to form the Pixie Dust into so many effects. She was my friend, I suppose. We helped each other and journeyed together. Do you have any particularly unusual skills? How did you acquire them? I am great at bluffing and mischief. I can trick most. As with much else, Tinker taught me such. Do you do something besides hero work for a living? Have you ever done anything else, or do you plan to? I prefer to think of myself as an adventurer, I suppose. Not really anything to do for a living, however. What is your preferred combat style? Keeping distance, while staying mobile in the air. Using all the tricks at my disposal. Have you ever received any awards or honours? Not as such, but I am considered a legend back on Neverworld. What skill areas would you like most to improve in? Is there anything you can't do that you wish desperately you could? I would like to become a better swordsman. It'll come, one day. How do you act around people who are more skilled than you in areas you'd like to improve? Are you jealous, or do you try and learn? I'm only happy to meet those more skilled than me! It is a new experience, a new opportunity to learn! Lifestyle & Hobbies What is a normal day for you? How do you feel when something interrupts this routine? Wake up, eat breakfast, go to school, see what happens from there. I welcome any interruption, anything to create a distraction and adventure! Do you have any hobbies, or interests outside hero work? What are they, and where did you pick them up? I like exploring, flying and just having adventures. They don't need to be hero related. I mostly picked all that up from being raised by the Pixies. What do you do for fun? I spend time with friends, I fly, and I have adventures! Do you have a costume? What does it look like? I do! Well, kind of, at least. It is a costume here, but it was just the kind of clothes that Pixies gave me back home. A green form fitting suit that leaves my neck, face and lower arms free. My outer legs are red, as are my shoulders, stretching down to my solar plexus. There's a golden and red buckle at the front of the costume, and the look is completed with a green domino mask. A lot of the Pixies wore something like it. How do you normally dress when not in costume? Mostly in reds and greens, generally form fitting clothing. What do you wear to bed most nights? Just underwear, maybe a t-shirt if its cold. Do you wear any special jewelry? What is it, and what does it look like? No. Do you have a special place where you keep your valuables? No. What's your preferred means of local travel? How about long distance? Flying! Flying is always the best! Miscellaneous Have you ever made a will, or tried to make arrangements for your death? What provisions did you make? No. If your features were to be destroyed beyond recognition, is there any other way of identifying your body? Honestly, I don't know, but I don't think so. What would you like to be remembered for after your death? For the adventurers I had and the good I did. Do you believe you pose a threat to the public? Why or why not? No, not really. What do you perceive as your greatest strength? The cleverness of me. What do you perceive as your greatest weakness? I tend to be impulsive, and if bored, I get easily distracted. As a player, if you could, what advice would you give your character? Speak as if he/she were sitting right here in front of you. Use proper tone so they might heed your advice... You should let people earn their trust, instead of just trusting them right away. Adventure is well and good, but try and find something else that makes you happy.
  19. "Eh, my big brother used to watch his show. He's had some interesting things on super heroes, but I'm not a fan. To each their own, and all that." Robin didn't feel like lying about the fact to make Mrs. Doors happy. Jack Jackson would twist any fact to boost his own reputation and number of viewers. He had tried selling out heroes in the past, setting them up as being responsible for all kinds of trouble, when they had only tried to help. Even getting close to him as Justice could be a bad idea, but... this all sounded like trouble. And a lot of it, too. Robin eyed Mrs. Doors at her last statement. She really didn't like immigrants, huh? Maybe she should go too, just to try and keep the peace and make sure everyone got some measure of justice. No way she would tell Mrs. Doors, however. "When's it going to start? I mean, I want to make sure I'm nowhere near there if either side end up causing trouble." Would Jack Jackson cause trouble on his own? Robin really wouldn't put it past him to try and stir up trouble.
  20. Cassidy wasn't so sure that he liked the way the Lemurians pointed with their spears. They were afraid, he was pretty sure of that. Couldn't blame them, really. This wasn't a great place for a trip, and they clearly knew more about Setho than he did. Could they trust the snakemen to keep their spears pointed the right direction, even after they dealt with Setho? Cassidy was starting to worry that might be a problem. He pushed the thought away. For now, they were on the same side. One problem at a time, else he would go crazy with worry. He continued further into the temple, his sand form moving slowly forward above the ground, drifting, almost as if on the wind. The place had traps, so he kept watch for those now. Sentries? Maybe, they hadn't seen any yet, but if Setho controlled all the poisonous bugs and critters in the jungle, there was no telling what could suddenly happen.
  21. GM Ronin Curtis' reputation did the trick, at least for now. The people in the line calmed down, even if they were still complaining to each other, they were no longer at riot volumes. The pharmacist agreed with him. She wanted nothing more than to get everything sorted out, the quicker the better. Get people their medicine, get them safe, maybe even get time for a nice cup of tea. "Won't be easy, mister." The pharmacist voiced their opinion. "Nothing we write sticks, after all. Not everyone here remember too well, but we'll try getting in some family members to help." So peace and quiet for now, at least. They could only hope it would stay like that. A young teen spoke up when Curtis asked about spooky stuff. "Yo, that sounds like the kinda $#!& Doctor Thorne's usually dealin' with, man." He seemed awfully proud of himself for making the suggestion. "She runs that Black Rose detective place." Doctor Thorne, Mister Strix, Lady Horus As it so happened, the map continued to change. The streets began to twist, to turn, until they stopped resembling Bedlam at all. It started looking. It was all twisted into a shape that vaguely resembled an ink blot, but still made out of the individual streets, with the names still visible around it. Random letters from the street names began to move down, sliding under the ink blot, spelling out the words: "YOU WILL TRY. YOU WILL FAIL." The heroes would have to make a choice of where they would go. Snacktastic, the city government, the lottery office, or somewhere else entirely.
  22. And here Mrs. Doors went again. Robin had just stopped by to check up on some things she printing on the campus' 3D printer. She wasn't even supposed to be here today. And yet... here she was, listening to another of Mrs. Doors' lectures. To be fair, she could have some good points at times. Like, even a broken clock is right twice a day, right? This one? Not one Robin was particularly interested in getting involved with. While trying to do her best to excuse herself, she could almost imagine where Mrs. Doors was going with this, even before her indignant statement. Of course she wouldn't stand for it. She rarely stood anywhere, always sitting, whenever Robin was around at least. She only got up to get coffee or tea, or to get close enough to deliver her latest lecture. Robin suppressed the comment, instead just resigning herself to giving non-committed answers. She really didn't want to discuss politics in general, and especially not with Mrs. Doors. That was just looking for trouble. The last bit caught her interest, however. "Really? He's gonna show up for something like that?" Lucas Jr. had been way too obsessed with Jack Jackson at one point. Watching everything he did, even if he didn't necessarily agree with the man. "Where's it happening?" A place like that was bound to be a powderkeg, right?
  23. Forever Boy The voice of Never Never Land, the Innocence, the Dreams of Every Man Pan is the Forever Boy, legendary trickster of Neverworld. A high flying hero with an unquenchable thirst for adventure, he has been left stranded on Earth Prime. Joining Claremont Academy, the cheerful youth makes the best of his time in his new home, while searching for a way to return to the battle he left behind. Every day is a new adventure. History Pan has always been special. He never knew his parents. Were they good and kind, lost to catastrophe? Were they evil tyrants that he escaped? He does not remember. They are but a thing, a faint glimpse of what could have been. A noble, a farmer, a merchant, a beggar. Whatever else might have been, Pan became something entirely different. Whatever else, he believed himself abandoned, and he came to resent the adults of the world. An inhabitant of Neverworld, a place with a curious literary connection to Earth Prime, Pan grew up on Wish Isle. From as far back as he could remember, the curious and mischievous child was raised by the Pixies. Small, ephemeral beings, as much a product of science as magic, they would flitter about, trying to import life's lessons on the boy. Only, they were Pixies. Their life lessons contained mainly trickery and adventure. Finally, one day, when Pan had reached what the Pixies deemed to be sufficient maturity, they gave him the greatest gift they could: Pixie Dust. A strange material, native to the Wish Isle, Pixie Dust was what made the Pixies what they were. The gift of flight, eternal life, and much more: The ability to tame the elements themselves, control the beasts that filled their forests, or stranger still. Pan was an experiment. They had never given a human such a gift before. To Pan, the Pixie Dust was freedom. He could fly. He could form it into images, as real as anything. He could create almost anything he could imagine. He was sixteen, when he was first given the gift of the Pixie Dust. Since then he has been sixteen for a long, long time. Years passed. Time mattered little to Pan and the Pixies. Eventually, he grew bored of the Wish Isle. He wanted to see Neverworld. On his own, or with the Pixies, he would see it all. He visited the cities of man, New Avalon and Victori. He played tricks and pranks, he took what he wanted. He became a legend, the Forever Boy, an always mischievous trickster. He sought mystery, he sought adventure. He was seen across the world, and soon, he saw something else. Something he could not abide. He saw evil. He saw the Hooked Man and his Sky Pirates raid villages, leaving little life behind. He saw the Destroyer of the Oceans, smashing ships in wanton blood lust. He saw the Whale Hunter committing atrocities in the name of destroying the Destroyer itself. He saw terrible things. And while it changed the Forever Boy, it did not break him. Mischief turned to heroism. Trickery turned to acts of defiance. A young man, a boy forever, that stood on his own against the injustice he saw. He was still on a never ending adventure, but now it had a purpose. His legend grew and evolved. He became as much a source of hope as one of mischief. Then, he was trapped. Not by enemy, not by monster or beast, but by the loose assembly known as the Lost Heroes. Caught in a trap, he learned of their goal: The Crocodile. The greatest mystery of Neverworld, the only hope of one day defeating the Hooked Man. Pan was quickly convinced. He joined the Lost Heroes aboard their flying vessel, travelling to parts of Neverworld even he had never seen. He took the last name Barrie, in honor of their founder. Together with the Lost Heroes, the Forever Boy righted wrongs and adventured all over Neverworld. His legend spread and grew, as he was now conclusively sighted. He was no more just a fairy tale. Still a trickster, still a source an endless source of mischief, he learned from the Lost Heroes. He grew in power and skill. He fought Sky Pirates, he fought tribes. He danced with Mermaids in and above the seas. He met the ancient inhabitants of the turtle islands. His thirst for adventure never waning, never ceasing. He was the Forever Boy, and he would adventure forever. Then, finally, the Lost Heroes found what they had searched for: A clue, a singular lead that could take them to the Crocodile. Only, somehow, the Hooked Man knew. A traitor in the midst of the Lost Heroes led the Hooked Man to their ship. He struck, and a great battle ensued. The Lost Heroes fought valiantly, but even legends tire. Even myths can fall. At the end, only the Forever Boy remained standing. He was fierce, he was defiant. In a single stroke, he severed the Hooked Man's hand. And as it fell into the ocean far below, Pan remembered a tale once told to him by an elder of the turtle islands. The Crocodile was a force of nature, a being that sought to make things right. It fed on corruption. The Forever Boy called out to the Crocodile. It would have the taste of the greatest source of corruption in all of the great oceans of Neverworld: The Hooked Man himself. And the Crocodile heard him. A giant being emerged from the waters. A monster, clad in green scales. It dwarfed even the Hooked Man's armada. It was the last thing that Pan saw in Neverworld. When he next opened his eyes, he found himself in Freedom City on Earth Prime. How he had come here, he didn't know, but he was optimistic. This was but another adventure, and one day, he would return home. A whole new world to explore, a whole new legend to create. A world that he would soon discover had a curious connection to his own. A world that would soon learn of the Forever Boy. Costume and Appearance Pan has dark red hair and green. He is attractive, with an athletic build. He prefers somewhat form fitting green or red clothing, though he will wear other colors, preferring not to wear dark clothing. His costume as Forever Boy is a green form fitting suit, with the outer sides of his legs being red, stretching from his wait to his toes. He wears a gold and red belt buckle in the middle of his costume, despite not wearing any belt. On his upper body, the costume remains predominantly green, though his shoulders, stretching from his neck, to just below the shoulder, and back to his solar plexus, are red as well. The costume ends at his arms just after his elbow, leaving his lower arms and hands free. Pan wears a green domino mask as part of the costume. While he has not divulged on its importance, he wore the mask back on Neverworld as well, where he had little reason to hide his identity. Powers Pan's powers as the Forever Boy are either due to his alien genetics as a resident of Neverworld, or due to his use of Pixie Dust. He posses enhanced senses, possessing incredible hearing and a sixth sense, warning him of danger ahead of time. Mentally, he is able to process information at lightning speed, and able to understand any written or spoken language. Pan's Pixie Dust was a gift from the Pixies that lives on the Wish Isle on Neverworld. As a rare gift to an outsider, even one such as Pan, the Pixies were curious to see just what abilities the Pixie dust would grant him. Most obvious, Pan is able to fly. Offensively, Pan can mold the Pixie Dust into a number of shapes and forms that he calls his tricks, giving him a number of options in combat, most notably the form of a Pixie that seeks out his targets, a stunning blast of light and a deafening and blinding burst of fireworks. By condensing the Pixie Dust around a target, Pan can create binding bands to restrain their movement. His favorite trick for a finishing move seems to be what he calls The Forever Blade, a sword made out of Pixie Dust. He is able to mold the Pixie Dust into numerous other similar or very different applications, as well. More subtly, Pan can shape the Pixie Dust into completely lifelike illusions that affects all of a target's senses, perfect for covert work or simply for playing pranks on others. Pan is also fond of using this ability to aid in his storytelling. Not immediately obvious, the Pixie Dust seems to have made Pan unaging. While he does not know his true age, he simply describes it as "I have been 16 for a long, long time". Allies Angelic: Eira Katastroff Natt och Dag, human personality in robot body, troublemaker, hidden depths, and Pan's girlfriend as of Spring 2020. 24. Neverworld Neverworld is the home of action and adventure. A world quite unlike our own, it is home to swashbuckling sky pirates, amazing heroes and horrible villains. While the Earth appear to be stuck at a Victorian technology level, much is hidden beneath the surface. Flying ships prowl the skies, cybernetics replace lost body parts with metal and electricity. Technology indistinguishable from magic is almost commonplace. While the majority of Neverworld's surface is covered by a great singular Ocean, its many islands and few continents contain hidden treasures, promising power and fame to those that find them, guarded by the magic of their native populations. Beneath the Ocean, mermaids and -men hold court in their great underwater cities. On land, the cities and towns spread across the world, offering many sights and and wonders to their population and visitors. The forests hides pixies and other fae, watching and working their secret craft from the shadows. It is a world of clear villains and heroes. Shades of grey is rare, if not completely unknown. Conflicts are resolved through acts of swashbuckling and action, or through quick wit and sharp tongues. Neverworld is a world of legendary figures, seemingly plucked from the litterature of Prime Earth, though not quite as you would expect. The great white whale rampages across the Ocean, threatening all life within, chased by a single, obsessed man. A lone detective and his partner prowls the streets of Neverworld's great cities, looking for crimes to solve. Lost heroes sail across the sky, hunting for the legendary Crocodile, rumored to be the only weakness of the infamous Hooked Man. These legendary figures are simply known as Legends to the general population of the world: They are larger than life, capable of feats that would give any normal person pause. Neverworld is the home of the Forever Boy, who has reached Earth Prime by so far unknown means. Visitors beware! Time in Neverworld has been known to behave strangely, more like a sea than a river. All of this has happened before, and it will happen again. It is a world of stories. Told and retold, forever and ever. Location and Appearance Neverworld is covered primarily in ocean, with a great number of islands scattered across its surface. Only three larger landmasses exist: New Avalon, Victori and the Wish Isle. The largest, known as New Avalon, is roughly half the size of Australia, roughly 100,000 square miles, being roughly half a broad as it is long. An artificial, man made canal divides New Avalon into North and South Avalon, at roughly the halfway point at the longest length. New Avalon is home to a thriving mercantile civilization, with most cities situated near the the canal or other coastal areas. Much of the mainland is covered by forests, the home of pixies and other fey. The capital of New Avalon, Trader's Haven, is located on a small island in the middle of the canal that divides North and South Avalon. Victori, while slightly smaller than New Avalon at roughly 800,000 square miles, is by no means lesser than its rival. A more warlike and industrious nation, Victori is home to great factories, mass producing the wonders that are meticulously crafted by hand in New Avalon. Victori is shaped almost like a ring, with but a single, albeit massive, gap that permits entrance. The gap is heavily guarded by multiple fortresses. At the far end of the gap in the ring lies the capital city of Tham, the most densely populated city on Neverworld. A significant amount of pirates were once Victori citizens that have taken to the waves. The Wish Isle is much smaller. Roughly 50,000 square miles, it is the home of the strange and the wonderful. Fey, mermaids and creatures but strange and mundane make the world their home. There they work wonders and miracles, far from the prying eyes of man. Neverworld is littered with many smaller islands. Some are small kingdoms, some are entirely covered by cities, some are giant turtles that swim through the seas, carrying smaller tortoises as they go. The seas and skies of Neverworld is the home of trading vessels, freebooters, buccaneers and pirates. Beware any travel without company to keep you safe! Significance Neverworld is the home of Forever Boy. The primary inhabitants of the world appear to mirror the heroes and villains of litterature from Earth Prime, particularly works written during the 19th and early 20th century, though others may be present as well. Though the source and exact nature is unknown, it appears that this is caused by an information bleed, causing events on Neverworld to be projected to the dreams and imagination of receptive minds on Earth Prime. Neverworld is haunted by a versions of a number of literary characters, including, but not limited to, versions of Moby Dick & Captain Ahab, Moriarty and Captain Hook, all of which threaten the world's peace and are potential problems for heroes to solve. People NPCs The Hooked Man: Once a sailor in the Victori armada, something hooked the man that would become known as the Hooked Man. Something beyond even the understanding of the Fae of the Wish Isle, something strange and monstrous. Driven mad, he rebelled, stealing a mighty flying ship and the dreaded group known as the Sky Pirates. The Hooked Man is seemingly invincible in combat, and his connection to his otherworldly sponsor makes him one of the greatest threats to safety and freedom on Neverworld. Despite this, the Hooked Man fancies himself a gentleman, and he is obsessed with acting in good form, even if his base nature and more violent side often causes him to betray such values. He lost his right hand to the Forever Boy, having since acquired a protestic that can shift between multiple forms, seemingly based on his mood and thoughts, most commonly a hook. The Sky Pirates: An assembly of beings from all across Neverworld, the Sky Pirates sail across the skies, striking from behind clouds to pillage and plunder. Originally assembled by the Hooked Man on what later became their flagship, the Sky Pirates grew in size as ordinary pirates were absorbed. They are now almost a nation in themselves, striking without mercy from their great armada in the sky. Notable individual pirates includes Smee, an oddly friendly pirate. He is the boatswain of the Hooked Man's flagship, maintaining the vessel to perfection. There are rumors that some of the Sky Pirates were lost in the same incident as the Forever Boy, and might have found their way to Earth Prime and the surrounding universe. The Great White Whale, Destroyer of the Seas: A monster that prowls the seas of Neverworld. A giant whale, easily the size of island, the Great White is the last of its kind, a once numerous species hunted into extinction. Though it rarely comes near coasts, any vessel on the sea can come under attack. Being eaten by the Great White Whale is not as final a fate as one would believe at first, however. An entire city of survivors has sprung to life inside the beast. The Professor of Crime: A mysterious figure that seems to control most of the criminal underworld in the landlocked cities of Victori and New Avalon. None knows his true identity. The Great Detectives: A pair of Victori detectives that journey across the world, solving mysteries and rescuing. One is an eccentric, possessing remarkable intuition and guile, the other a doctor of medicine, though no less proficient than the first. They are Holmes and Watson, the great detectives. The Lost Heroes: A loose assembly of heroic figures, all mirroring figures from Earth Prime litterature. They are united in their opposition to the Hooked Man, searching for the fabled Crocodile that can defeat the Hooked Man. Ahab, Whale Hunter: More machine than man, Ahab the Whale Hunter travels the seas, constantly on the trail of Great White. Once a hero, he is now little better than the monster he hunts, willing to sacrifice anything and anyone to finally kill the whale. The Crocodile: A legend even among legends. Once thought nothing but a myth, the Crocodile was finally summoned into Neverworld when the Hooked Man's hand fell into the sea. A giant beast, said to tower over even mountains, no one quite knows the limits of its power. PCs The Forever Boy: An almost legendary figure on Neverworld, a trickster, prankster and hero, and forever a boy. One of the few friends to the Fey, he knows the secrets of their Pixie Dust. As one of the Lost Heroes, he sought the Crocodile to slay the Hooked Man. Currently stuck at Earth Prime after a clash with the Hooked Man, where he disarmed the Hooked Man of sword and hand, summoning the Crocodile in the process. History On Neverworld, time is more like a sea than a river. The past can change as readily as the future. Time can run faster in some places than others, especially compared to Earth Prime. This is a rough breakdown of some major events that have occured on Neverworld, in roughly chronological order. More than 200 years ago The third war between New Avalon and Victori ends in stable peace. A multitude of soldiers and sailors in the New Avalonian and Victori armadas turn to piracy. More than 100 years ago Tales of the Forever Boy spreads across New Avalon and Victori. No one is quite sure when he first appeared. The Hooked Man is hooked (on a bad feeling), quickly turning to piracy. The giant whales are hunted to near extinction, driving the Great White Whale mad with grief, starting its path of destruction 50 years or less ago 50 years after the Great White Whale begins its first rampage, Ahab begins his hunt for the whale. The Hooked Man begins raids against the people of the world The Lost Heroes gather to fight the Hooked Man. They are defeated. The Lost Heroes start their search for the Crocodile. The Lost Heroes find the Forever Boy, and he joins their crew The Lost Heroes fight the Hooked Man. The Forever Boy severs his hand, which falls into the sea, summoning the Crocodile. Through unknown means, the Forever Boy ends up on Earth Prime.
  25. Even as strange as the Lemurians seemed, Cassidy thought he could understand that feeling they were feeling right now. Deep, intense fear. They hid it well, but there were something about the way the moved that just seemed to radiate that fear. He didn't blame them. However they felt about Setho, they were afraid, and probably rightly so. Was this what his life was going to be like from now on, then? Going to strange places, solving problems that shouldn't be his own? Venomax spotted the trap. Cassidy cursed at himself for not doing so, but at he didn't trigger it in this form. "Good find." He kept his voice low as he complimented Venomax, then looked ahead. He would be fine going in here, the others, probably not. Was there more like these? He would have to be on guard.
