  1. Aw, this was not good. The best she had, a shot that had connected cleanly with the thing, and it hadn't even hurt it. And then it lifted the Laughing Buddha statue above its head. "Are you kidding me!?" She'd be flattened if that thing hit. And then the giant horse headed creature actually threw the thing, and it sailed through the air towards her. Robin readied herself, about to move out of the way, and then stopped. No way that thing had put enough force behind the giant Buddha, and sure enough, it landed it front of her. "HA!" She couldn't help herself. She shouldn't taunt, but that was too good to resist. Stepping forward, one foot on the Laughing Buddha, Robin called out to the creature. "Hey Fluttershy, you're supposed to stop when I shoot you!" Both hands on the Justice Buster, she took aim. "Haven't you heard? Its time for Justice!" Trigger pressed, shot taken, another burst of kinetic energy flies towards the creature., the recoil causing the gun to fly up, though still grasped firmly in her hands. Hoping that the fallen Laughing Buddha might at least slow down the crazy thing, Robin threw herself back and to the side.
  2. Taking another shot: 1d20+9 = 19. Still DC20 Toughness if it hits. And Robin moves to the side, trying to get out of the way of the charge.
  3. Finnigan was starting to disappear, straight back into the darkness that he came from. Could she just let him go? To Rio, or wherever else he decided? It might be easier to get the kids to stop all this nonsense if she did. What better way to break a philosophy than to have whoever created it abandon it the first chance he got? It would mean less trouble for Emerald City. No more Finnigan's Fingers. Just maybe Fingers, going out and stealing indiscriminately, until the Gas Man came. It didn't really matter, did it? That last line. Survival. Life. Sweet immortality. Yes, even power. Finnigan really wasn't as altruistic as he had claimed to be after all, was he now? It seemed pretty clear that he wanted something much more than what he had claimed. Whether he had turned around or not, Robin reached into her backpack and pulled out the night googles. With a quick motion, she secured them around her head and turned them on. All tests had worked, she should be able to do this. "Yeah, I don't think so, Finnigan!" Honestly, she might just have let him go, if it it hadn't been for his final parting shot and mentioning power. She was not about to let that happen, no matter what he thought. Justice Buster held ready, she rushed after him into the darkness.
  4. "Ah, what are you talking about!" Fun didn't seem to factor into Dr. Midas' plans, according to him at least. Spotting the streak of plasma, he made a sound that sounded very much like "NYEAH!", as he dove down, out of the way of the bright lights, quickly turning his back to it. "That is dangerous, young lady! Who goes around throwing fireworks at other people like that!" The irony of shooting lasers at others and complaining about being attacked in turn was, of course, entirely lost on him.
  5. Area reflex: 1d20+8 = 28, made it, so DC14 for next roll Dazzle reflex: 1d20+8 = 17 and just makes it. And Facs is up.
  6. "Of that, I am guilty." He did like to flatter, that much was true. He chuckled a bit at the thought, before shaking his head. He had not meant to make her out as a martyr, but he could still admire her for it. He hadn't even though about how a lot of his fellow students had some kind of dark past, something bad that had led them to their current place at life. It was a curious thought, really. Was it just a law of nature here, in this world? Did having powers lead to tragedy? Curious. It was something that he would have to give some more thought another time, perhaps. The strreet was wide, and filled with shops. Pan compared it to the market places in New Avalon for a moment, before dismissing the thought. The street was much too wide for that comparison, and the shops too neatly organized. And everything was so quiet, which he guessed was probably just because of the holiday. He chuckled again, quickly drinking some more as Nicole mentioned their meeting prior to Claremont. Not his proudest moment, really. "Only caught a glimpse of something big and massive coming for me, so I made sure to get away. To be honest, I didn't even notice those weapons, I just figured I might be able to maneuvre a bit better. It was probably the only reason you didn't catch me." From what he had seen of Belios, it had been fast. Much faster than him. But, well, as Nicole said, it drove like a rock. Stopping before the convenience store, he made a small solemn bow before they entered. "You are my friend, Nicole. I cannot not worry about my friends. It is simply how I am." He stood up straight again, flashing her a quick smile before walking in. The automatic doors of stores like these still amused him, but he tried not to let it show too much. "You have nothing to be sorry about. I really haven't been here for long. I'm confident that I will find my way back some day. Maybe even find some way to travel back and forth. That would be ideal, I think." No more solemn things. They had shared, and he felt better for it, both for having shared his own tale and for listening to Nicole's. It was nice to know a friend, and what had shaped them, after all. "Now then! I believe that we have been given a quest by our most gracious hosts!" He stood with legs a bit apart, pointing into the store. A single employee looked up from stocking the shelves, not really knowing what to think of Pan's outburst. "What is on the list? What shall I find?"
  7. "But you are giving up! You're not even thinking about using ideas that you don't like! What's the worst that could happen if you sought out one of those good guy magicians you mentioned? They'd say they couldn't do it, and that would be it!" She was getting worked up now. Robin was really trying to find a peaceful way out of this. She didn't want to fight against Finnigan if she could help it. What had happened to him was horrible, but he was desperate to survive, and even if he had morals, what he was doing was wrong. "What's next, then? What happens when the people you're dealing with decides that money isn't enough? You might not want to hurt kids, but what about other people? You gonna go out and get ritual sacrifices and whatever else they want?" She might be reaching here, as she had pointed out to herself quite a few times, Robin knew next to nothing about magic. She'd have to make up for that at some point. She shifted around, her hand on the phone in her pocket, finger hovering over the last character needed to activate the Justice suit. Stopping him would kill him, or worse? No, she wasn't about to let that happen. Finnigan needed help. He was good at talking his case, sure, but while she heard him, Robin was stopping to listen. For whatever else he might be, good or bad, Finnigan had charisma. He had conviction. He was a manipulator. He had turned an entire group of kids into thieves, all following his philosophy. Still, she would get him help, somehow. This wasn't the way. "My grandmother said this: Even if someone has good intentions, they can still be a bad guy. There is no telling how far they will go, there is no telling what they won't do." She paused for a moment. "I'm not here to do any of those things. You've broken the law, and people have ended up being hurt in the process. Its just a matter of time before it gets even worse. There's no justice in letting you run around and hurting whoever you want, stepping over whoever is in your way to get your cure. I don't claim to know what's justice, not yet at least, but I know one thing: What you're talking about is not justice!" Robin didn't want to fight, but it seemed like Finnigan wanted to do just that. She wasn't about to be caught off guard. "I don't want to fight you. Please, just come along peacefully." Click, last digit entered. "HENSHIN." The mechanical voice from the belt sounded almost somber in the circumstances, as the armor formed over Robin's body and clothes. Her backpack was still on, as was her hoodie, but the gold and red suit gleamed under it.
  8. As said on Discord, I'm up for the experimental one, if you think any of my characters will fit.
  9. Yep, Rev's up next.
  10. You got it. Feel free to be creative with the catch when its your turn.
  11. Alright, give me a Strength check vs DC30, then. Bonuses from any super strength apply. And since I forgot before: Armor Thug 1: Unconscious Armor Thug 2: 24 - Bruised Rev: 15. HP 3 - Bruised, Staggered. Facs: 11 HP 1 - Unharmed Dr. Midas: 8 - Unharmed
  12. Robin agreed that Gretchen would have her work cut out for her. The old shop had a lot of patrons, after all, her included. Not that she felt the need to point that out to the new store owner. No need for the tension, and Gretchen seemed like she was plenty busy already. "I'll do my part on the word-of-mouth!" she called out, making a quick wave after Gretchen as she moved out into the store, towards the commotion up front. Alright, she was the store owner, of course she was busy. Whatever commotion was happening up front, Gretchen could deal with it. Robin's interest had been piqued by the kid. The way the ice cream just disappeared, and the way she moved, she had to have super powers of some kind, right? And Robin really wanted to find out just what. So, she stayed behind, turning to the kid instead. Well, not really kid. She was older than that, wasn't she? "Sooo... You got super speed of some kind?" she asked, a hopeful tone in her question. The fangirl in her wanted to find out if the kid was some famous hero. Maybe related to Velocity. The scientist and hero wanted to find out how the girl's super speed worked, if that was what she had, so she could maybe find a way to work it into her suit.
  13. It was a curious thing, this Belios. It must be nice to have someone, or something, depending on what Belios was, that would come for her like that. He listened to the story. He had not realized that Nicole's life had been so bleak. He was wholly focused on that part of the story now. The armor, and its curious magic, was forgotten for the moment. When Nicole had looked at him, he had shown none of the disbelief she might have sought. Why should he? He admitted that he had not heard of anything quite like Belios before, but so what? Just another wonder of this world to him. He grinned at the thought of Belios letting her fly. Oh yes, he could understand the joy in that. If anyone could, it would probably be him, after all. "I think I understand that quite well. The universe told you that you couldn't stand, and then you defied it. But why just stand, when you can stand tall, right?" He conjured a quick image of Salvo standing in his hand, striking a heroic pose with her fists in her sides, fireworks exploding behind her. It was gone seconds after it appeared. "But I believe that it is not just Salvo who is strong and fearless, is it now? Powerful armor or not, not everyone could just go out and fight evil like you have done." Sure, Claremont was full of people that went out and did just that, but from what Pan had seen of this world, it was still such a small segment of the entire population, not unlike Neverworld. Back home, there had been numerous legends, yet few in the grand scheme of things. And returning to the subject at hand, few of the students seemed to have suffered an injury like Nicole's. "It is admirable that you do as you do, having suffered as you have." There was not a hint of humor in his voice. He was completely sincere, even if just for a moment. A bit more of that hidden age shining through. "But tell me! You can fly! That is amazing! What else can you do, when you are wearing Belios?" Pan paused for a moment. The other questions were more serious, but he felt that he should ask. His voice was somber again. "I hope I do not intrude, and please, tell me if I do, but I am both curious and worried: What of your siblings and the criminal empire?"
  14. "I don't know." Cassidy tried to emphasize a shrug, exaggerate it just a bit to get the meaning across. They understood a single word. That wasn't a lot of common ground for communicating with each other, but it would have to do. Stretching an arm out, he pointed out into the jungle, moving in a wide arc to try to point out that Setho could be somewhere in the jungle, but they didn't know where. "Out there, somewhere. Maybe." He made the exaggerated shrug again. Hopefully they would understand his meaning. Giving the snakemen a moment to think, he turned to Venomax. "Better than have them try to poke you with those spears, yeah?" Allies were better than enemies. Especially if they didn't want Setho around anymore than he did. His question was good, though. Mr. Sting and Abdul would probably be a nuisance at best, if they brought them along, but he didn't trust Sting alone with Abdul. And he didn't trust Abdul further as far as he could throw him, far as that may be. "If we get them outta here, then there's no telling what they'll be up to, or if we can find our way back. If we keep 'em here, they'll just be trouble." He hadn't exactly been in a situation like this before. "I got no idea what we'll do with 'em."
  15. "Aren't you a bit too keen on giving up before you even try it out?" Oh yeah, he was starting to get pissed off. "Like, they might not use black magic, but they might have something that can help with it? Take the bad magic out of you, leave the good stuff in?" She was reaching a bit, perhaps, but honestly, Robin didn't know anything real about magic. Nothing that could help here, or try to get Finnigan to reconsider, at the least. She was fine with letting him go, provided he didn't hurt anyone. But these kids would get hurt. The way he talked about the kids gave her a bit of hope, at least. He was not all villain, if nothing else. It made things both easier and harder. She might actually be able to reach him, but if she didn't, if she couldn't... well, Finnigan might not be out for world conquest or anything like that, but he still had good intentions, he had something that he needed that money for, even if that didn't make stealing right. Every bank robber probably had a good reason. Still didn't make it the right thing to do. "But that's just what you're doing!" Robin countered to Finnigan's statement that he wouldn't sacrifice a young life. "When someone comes down hard on you, do you then think that they'll leave the kids alone? They'll go through them to get at you."
  16. If course, Facsimile choose the only option, moving straight towards the platform. Now, all he had to decide was how exactly he would try to deal with it? And to avoid Dr. Midas. "Leave my platform alone! It is sensitive scientific equipment! Someone like you would not understand!" Even with the heavy electronic modulation, the voice sounded shrill and ranting. The good doctor was used to getting his way, and he was not happy with heroes, even ones as young as Facsimile and Rev, getting in his way. Raising one armored gauntlet, he flew towards the now metallic hero. A laser blast, golden in color of course, flew from the gauntlet, sailing right past Facsimile's head. The second armored thug seemed like he was starting to have some second thoughts, at least. Looking up at his boss, then at Rev, he moved towards his brother, bending down to check on him.
  17. Completely forgot: Hero Points to both of you for the falling platform. Ex: How are you attempting to stop the platform? Catch it? Land on it and try to control it? Anyway, Dr. Midas takes a shot at Facs, -6 because he tries to avoid hitting the platform, meaning he just misses: 1d20+12-6 = 19 Armor thug 2 advances on Rev, but keeps a bit of distance. No attacks just yet.
  18. The zombie-like appearance still chilled Robin. He was like something out of a zombie apocalypse movie, just much more eloquent, and less about eating brains. Robin was aware that Finnigan had a point. If he had to do something to actually survive his curse and reverse it, then yeah, he needed money. Warlocks and sorcerers needed money too, she supposed, but again. You do something, you always have a choice. You hurt others to get what you want, or you find another, better path. It might not be possible, it might not be comfortable, but Robin believed that, at least. "But you're still going about it the wrong way. Stealing like this, using the kids like this? There's bound to be someone coming down hard on you. You might be immortal, but the kids are just kids. Unless you want to create some kind of zombie epidemic and spread your curse to the kids, then what? You're gonna use them as shields, if it comes to that? Is that really what you want to do? Or just run, leave them to take the fall?" He was still circling. He seemed more aggresive. Robin was still following, trying to see him in the dark. One digit, all that she needed. A single secret character. Then she would be armored up and ready. "You could have gone about it in many other ways. You talk about underworld magicians. I know that there's heroic magic people out there. You could have tried reaching out to any of them, I'm sure they would have been happy to try and find a way to help you!" Robin realized something else. He had been desperate to survive. The way she had understood earlier, the curse was a side effect, something he could not possibly have known, but the way he spoke of a magical underworld, he had chosen to use what would be considered dark magic. Robin was aware that she knew absolutely nothing about how all of this worked in the real world, but honestly, if something was called dark magic, then it had to be bad. And he had to have made a decision to look for aid in the dark, instead of the light. Despite what he preached, Finnigan really was a bad guy. There was no doubt about it anymore.
  19. Only krill and shrimp. And yet, it was all alone now. A single, rainbow colored fish, all alone in all of these tanks filled with water. Pan looked at it for another moment. He could try prodding it with an image of another fish, see how it reacted, but that didn't seem like the best idea. This was a mystery, after all, and aside from its name, diet and it being smaller than the dartfish's missing friends, he knew little about it. "So, why leave this one behind? To my admittedly untrained eye, it appears quite exotic. And exotic means rare and valuable on this world, does it not? So, what makes this fish so different from the rest in here?" Pan was maybe enjoying this a bit too much, his eyes still fixed on the rainbow colored fish, as if he was afraid it would disappear if he stopped watching it.
  20. "So, are we using light and darkness as a metaphor, or as actual light and darkness now?" Finnigan had started circling her now, staying in the shadows. It was getting harder to see him. She considered just reaching into the backpack and pulling out the goggles, but no reason to let him know about those just yet. "Because either way, you might not be holding an actual gun in your hand, but you sure got a metaphorical gun to them. See, I've been thinking these last few days. You're in a bad situation, I got that. You said it yourself: You taught them their skills, and you taught them your philosophy. You taught them that they're just society's junk, when they could be so much more." What she intended to do with him? She still wasn't sure. Finnigan had shown that he couldn't really be trusted already. If they'd just been stealing food or something to survive, it would be much easier to decide. Fine, let them go then. Robin Hood and all that, but stealing valuables to get luxury for themselves? She couldn't allow that, could she? This was all way harder to figure out than on television. Robin shook her head. "That all depends on you. From what I've heard and learned around here, you've pretty much indoctrinated these kids to follow your philosophy. I'm not gonna claim I'm some kind of perfect saint, but what you've been doing there is wrong. You try and make it sound like you and the kids are playing at being Robin Hood, but you're really just out for yourselves. I don't want to fight you." He was still circling, and she was trying to follow him. To prove her point, she reached into her shirt and pulled out the Justice Buster. It had felt heavy under her hoodie. It still felt heavy now. "But I will stop you if I have to!" She entered most of the code necessary for starting up the Justice Driver on her phone. Another digit, and the suit would appear. She was ready.
  21. Justice Robin Lynne Langley is Justice. A relatively new hero, she has decided to do her part to make up for the lack of super heroes in Emerald City. Heavily inspired by television shows starring heroes, particularly Japanese Tokusatsu shows, Robin has set out to learn how to be a hero, using her self-made powered suit. Bright, friendly and dedicated, Robin does her best to become the best hero she can be, learning just what justice means to her along the way. History Robin Lynne Langley grew up admiring the exploits of heroes from a young age, both those imaginary and real. She followed the exploits of all her favorite heroes on television, be it cartoons, live action from super human battles or live action shows starring imaginary heroes. She was particularly inspired by the Tokusatsu heroes of Japanese television. Admiration turned to dreams. Robin lived in Emerald City, the one city that did not seem to have any heroes. Robin wanted to be the person to change that. Robin became a highly competive gymnast, participating in several competitions, before leaving that behind, though still training privately. She honed her aim with her father or alone at firing ranges. Highly intelligent, Robin would seek out knowledge that would let her create the tools she felt needed to become a hero. That is not to say that Robin lived solely for her dream of becoming a hero. She had friends. She had her family. She lived a full life, but still, her dream was to become a hero. Then the impossible happened: The Emerald Spider appeared. Emerald City finally had their own hero. Robin was inspired once more. If Emerald City could have one hero, then surely, the city could have two. Her work continued. She quickly progressed, earning a master's degree at Emerald City University, and started work on her PhD. She got the use of extensive facilities at Emerald City University, and finally, Robin was able to create the device that she dubbed the Justice Driver. It was just the Alpha version, but it had to be good enough, and come Halloween 2018, it had to be, as Justice had to be the one person that stood between a monster and athe people of Emerald City. With much of Robin's understanding of heroics coming from television and fiction, she is bound to face conflicts that are not as black and white. Her morality will be tested, and she will have to choose the path to take, and just what justice means to her. Costume and Appearance Robin is a slender, dark haired brunette with green eyes. She wears glasses and tends to dress in casual clothing, such as jeans and t-shirts, usually with logos or pictures of cartoons or super heroes, both real and fictional. As Justice, Robin has two different looks, depending on whether she has activated the Justice Driver. The only set part of her costume before activating the Justice Driver is a red domino mask, with which she wears suiting clothes, usually tending towards dark pants and a long-sleeved red shirt, while tying her hair into a pony tail. She wears the red Justice Driver belt with this. When Robin activates the Justice Driver, she is covered in the gold and red Justice suit, which covers her entire body, being almost skin-tight. The middle of Robin's front is golden, with the sides being red. The gold ends in golden boots near her feet. She still wears the red Justice Driver belt, breaking up the gold in the front. The gold covers her shoulders, while her arms are red, except for gold bracers around her writers and golden fingers. She uses a red star as a logo in the middle of her chest. The mask is completely red, except for golden one-way glass for the eyes, which seems to be a part of a gold faceplate that covers her mouth and nose. As the Justice Driver and the suit is still being developed, the actual appearance changes frequently. Powers Robin posses no super human powers of her own, but she is a genius of several disciplines, which has allowed her to create several gadgets that she use to fight crime, chief among them the Justice Buster, a powerful one handed ranged weapon, and the Justice Driver, which covers her body in an armor that grants Robin an ever expanding and evolving suite of super human abilities, focused primarily around enhancing Robin's physical abilities. She has also been known to create gadgets necessary for a given task, if given the necessary time and resources. Allies Family Anna Grace Langley: Robin's mother. A respected doctor at the Emerald City University Medical Center. Lucas James Langley: Robin's father. A teacher of philosophy at Emerald City University. Lucas Jr. Alexander Langley: Robin's two years older brother. Lucas Jr. studies law in Freedom City, his once close relationship with his sister having detoriated due to the distance. Mark Travis Langley: Robin's 20 years younger brother. A surprise to the family, Mark is much beloved and more than a bit spoiled by his older sister. Dorothy 'Dottie' Minerva Langley: Robin's paternal grandmother. Robin's confidante, the only person she has told about her dual identity. Unknown to Robin, the octogenerian was active as the super hero Miss Step in the 70'es, and she has tried to subtly use her experience to guide Robin. The Justice Driver Robin's greatest invention, according to herself, is the Justice Driver. Appearing simply as a fancy red belt, the driver hides a battlesuit that can be activated through a special program on Robin's phone. When Robin activates the program function to activate the Justice Driver, the battlesuit expands from the belt and covers her entire body in less than a second. The current abilities of the battlesuit is only what Robin considers the Alpha 1 version, the first stable build. She has plans for many future expansions to the Justice Driver system, as soon as she figures out how to add the functionality while retaining portability. Timeline 2018 Fall October 31st: Gone != Forgotten: Justice debuts on Halloween! November 1st to 4th: Busy Little Fingers: Following a rash of thievery on Halloween, Justice encounters Finnigan's Fingers and the Gas Man, as she struggles with figuring out what path to take, and what justice will ultimately mean to her. November 12th: A Place for Everything: Robin attends the opening of Silberman's Northwest in Emerald City. November 28th: aMaZo: Justice teams up with Mag-Might. Concept & Design Notes A fangirl becomes a Kamen Rider of her own making, filtered through Western super hero tropes.
  22. Pan followed Corinne's movements, oblivious to the world around them. For once, his concentration was completely focused on just one thing, one action, one person. Even with everything else that was going on around them, he remained focused on just Corinne. He had not noticed Micah's discomfort, and despite what his roommate might think, he had simply taken Corinne up on the offer to try something new, and he was having fun now. He was all smiles as he Corinne spun him, the hand over his head. This was more like the formal dances back on Neverworld, highly choreographed and planned. He had seen many being spun like that, even if he had never participated. "You're good at this!" He shifted hands, moving back and swinging her slightly out, before bringing Corinne in close for a moment, before letting her lead again. "Ever danced on air?" he asked. He honestly did not know Corinne's powers, and it might be possible that she had. So many here could fly, it was not nearly as unique as back home.
  23. He kept to the fact that he didn't control the kids, that he had taught them not to trust authority. And just why was that? Was it just because of his sickness, or was there something more behind it? Something else that was behind his reason for being like this? For doing these things? Finnigan was not just out for survival, he had made sure to tell her that. He wanted more, which, really, was part of the definition of a bad guy. You take something from someone else to better yourself, without their consent. What did it matter how much he took for himself? He had still taught these kids how to become thieves. It wasn't just the practical lessons, either. He had taught them a philosophy. Robin was starting to realize just how dangerous Finnigan might be, and not just because of his curse. No matter what he said, no matter what the reasons he had told her, he had preyed on these kids, and he had taught them to be like him. "I heard some of your kids talking on the way in here. Why do you keep them in the shadows?" It wouldn't matter to comment on the amount of wealth he had shown her. Just because she couldn't see it, didn't mean it was not there.
  24. The vortex of air engulfted the flying platform, sending it flying upwards, but Dr. Midas had seen his shot and jumped from it. Golden wings had now extended from his armor, a few exhaust panels on the back now releasing a stready stream of energy, holding him airborne. The platform he had flown in on where not quite so lucky, however. It was sent tumbling through the air, falling towards the fleeing people in the streets. It was moving fast, everything that had kept it aloft the moment before now throwing it towards the ground at high speed one moment, upwards or to the side the next, in a chaotic pattern as it had lost any semblance of control the moment that Dr. Midas left it. What would the heroes choose to do? Stop the falling platform, or Dr. Midas and his armored thugs?
  25. Dr. Midas reflex save: 1d20+8 = 17 So, opposed trip save 1d20+3 = 23 Dr. Midas remains standing! But his platform goes down, falling right towards the people on the street! Let me know how you deal with it!
