  1. Forever Boy Pan followed along, looking at anything and everything that Danica pointed out. His attention kept slipping to her wheels, however, even as he started floating along the ground rather than walking. He made note of walking taking a long time, which he could see. Flying was always faster, after all. He paused for a moment before responding to Danica's question about where everyone was from, but so far, most that he had told about Neverworld had accepted it, so why not share? "Ah, I'm from far from here. Another world, I think. Back home we called it Neverworld. It is kind of different from here. No wheels to stand on like yours, for one."

    Assemble!

Forever Boy Pan had found a spot up near the front. He didn't know what would happen at an assembly like this, so he didn't want to miss anything. His backpack had all of the books stuffed into them, even those that weren't needed for today according to his schedule, but he wasn't quite sure how it would go, and better to have everything ready. He was wearing a dark green shirt and a pair of jeans, with a blue and yellow Claremont Academy jersey worn over it Before coming to the Academy, Pan had thought that he would stand out in the crowds. He had been wrong, as he looked around and saw people that were quite obviously not the baseline around here. No butterfly people, but so many other powers and appearances. He loved every second.
  3. Forever Boy Right then. Like regular heroes. Pan wasn't quite sure what made the difference between a regular hero and an irregular hero, but he would do his best anyway. The golden mists had spread far enough inside the store that it would be almost impossible for the two thieves to see anything, so Pan nodded at Lucy, then slowly floated in through the mist, doing his best to be as silent as he could. The mists were already there, so he could just as well try to confuse them a bit too, maybe make this a bit easier, just in case they did something that he didn't expect.
  4. Forever Boy Oh, Pan thought he would fit in just great here. He returned a grin in response to Kameron's joke. And then the giant neon-bulbed arrows appeared from out of nowhere, pointing the newcomer that Pan had waved to join the rest of the group. "Ha! That's awesome!" He was already starting to like his fellow students here. And they had such wonderful tricks. He couldn't wait to see what everyone else could do. Without thinking about it, he found himself hovering a few inches above the ground, golden sparkles falling from his feet to the ground below him. And a butterfly person! He would love to see that! The hum of the segway reached his ears, and he found his eyes drawn to it again. If Danica was offering, he would surely take her up on the tour. Sure, he had the map and directions, but it was always so much better to experience things in person. "I'll go!" He floated over to Danica before realizing what he was doing and landing next to her. He could always find his room later, after all.
  5. Forever Boy The capabilities of the devices called cell phones still astonished Pan. Remotely talking to someone far away was not a common occurence on Neverworld, requiring giant viewscreens, but here it was commonplace to have a device that could fit in your hand or pocket that allowed just that, and so much more, from what he had seen. It was brilliant. Danica mentioned her previous roommate entering her chrysalis stage. Was that something everyone here did? If so, Pan would be more different from the people of Freedom City than he thought. Without thinking on whether it could come out as rude or not, he quickly asked the question that came to mind. "Do people here enter a chrysalis stage?" He paused for a second, before continuing. This world had many people with special powers, after all. It might just be something special to Danica's old roommate. "Or was it just your roommate?" While waiting for a reply, Pan spotted another student moving towards towards the group. With a smile, he waved at Micah as a greeting.
  6. Forever Boy The two bad guys prepared themselves, getting their weapons ready. Pan might not have seen the exact things before, but it was clear what they were. He was about to move in and try to catch them when Lucy explained who they were. The Toon Gang? And they operate on toon logic, from a film? Pan turned to Lucy with a puzzled expression on his face. He had finally seen a movie, so he got that reference at least, but nothing with any toons. At least he didn't think so. The film he had seen had been about heroes in space, fighting against the evil empire that ruled all of space. He had especially liked the man named Han Solo. He should probably go in, but if they operated on another set of rules than the rest of them, he should know first. "I'm not really from around here. Just what is toons and toon logic?" If they didn't react to any of his tricks he would have to figure out some other way to get to them.
  7. "Ah, thank you Kameron. I must admit that I didn't prepare that much." He rarely did for something like this. Still, he was geniunely thankful for Kameron's help. Pan tried to listen to Danica talking about the turtles in Kameron's home country, but he found his eyes drawn to her segway again. A pair of wheels to help people get around. He kind of wanted one, even if he would normally fly around. He suppressed a chuckle at the warning hum from the machine, watching how Danica caught herself instead of falling over. Incredible, the machine even managed to warn Danica before she fell. He focused back on the conversation when both Kameron and Veronica mentioned that they had seen the type of the tortoise. He made a note of telling Danica about the turtle islands back on Neverworld, and the tortoises that lived on them, but maybe for another time. Another new student approached, introducing herself. Taking his eyes away from the segway, Pan gave her a smile and a wave as Veronica introduced himself and the others. "Yes! That is exactly what I said!" he exclaimed when Elizabeth commented on Veronica's name.
  8. 1. Where is your hero from? Neverworld, a world of adventure and swashbuckling. 2. How would your hero physically describe him/herself? Is this different from how others would? Pretty and slim. 3. Does your hero have distinguishing speech characteristics or recurring mannerisms? I tend to hover or fly most of the time, at least when I'm not actively trying not to. 4. What is your hero's motivation? To find adventure and friends. To find a way back to Neverworld. 5. What are your hero's greatest strengths and weaknesses? I am fearless and resourceful. I tend to get overemotional, which can lead to some rash actions. 6. What does your hero love? What does your hero hate? I love adventure in all forms. I don't tend to hold a lot of hate, except for the Hooked Man. When I return to Neverworld, I will defeat him. 7. How would you describe your character's mental and emotional state? Mentally stable, but my emotions tend to run a bit wild. 8. What does your hero fear the most? Never returning to Neverworld. 9. What is your character's greatest ambition? To return to Neverworld, where I will defeat the Hooked Man. 10. How does your hero feel about the state of the world and his/her place in it? I don't really know much about the Earth yet, so I'm trying to find my place here, at least until I can return to Neverworld. 11. Does your hero have any prejudices? How does he/she get along with others? I try to let a person's actions speak for them. I try to get along with everyone. 12. Where do your heroes loyalties lie? In what order? The Pixies of Neverworld, the Lost Heroes of Neverworld, friends and other students at Claremont Academy, Claremont Academy itself. 13. Does your hero have a lover or partner? How do they feel about the hero now? No. I have had courtships in Neverworld, but none amounted to anything. 14. Does your hero have a family? What is the relationship there like? The closest thing I have had to a family was the Pixies and the Lost Heroes of Neverworld. The pixies raised me and taught me all my tricks. The Lost Heroes made me into a hero. I would do anything for either group. 15. How would the people closest to your hero describe him or her? Impulsive, emotional. 16. Is your hero a role model? I try to be, but I'm not sure if I am. 17. How spiritual is your hero? Does your hero follow a relgious tradition? Not much. I don't really think about it, to be honest. 18. Is your hero part of a team, or would he/she like to be? Why? Back on Neverworld I was part of the Lost Heroes. Here on the Earth, I'm in Claremont Academy's Blue Squad. 19. How does your hero feel about the place of metahumans and aliens on Earth? I am technically an alien on Earth, and I just love all the strange powers that people have here. 20. If you could give one piece of advice to your hero, what would it be? Some times, it's fine to relax.

  10. Forever Boy "Not yet, I'm afraid. I only just got here. Not really used to walking around much." Pan responded to Janus, while fumbling with his papers. "I'm in 203, wherever that is." He turned to Veronica. "Thank you, Miss Danger. It seems like your connections helped, so thank you very much for that." Other students started arriving at the parking lot, and Pan immediately focused on a particular student. Or rather, her segway. He had never sen something that before, and it was fascinating. A pair of wheels that would carry her around, taking away any need for walking? He idly wondered how fast it could go before deciding against asking. For now at least. There were better ways to make first impressions. Pan greeted Kameron with a bow, trying to mimic the one that Janus had made. It might be a cultural thing, and he did not want to offend anyone here. He waited to see if Danica and Janus would shake hands before also offering a hand to Danica, if she had accepted Janus'. "Pan Barrie. And yes, I am rather new at this whole school thing."
  11. Forever Boy So, this was it. Claremont Academy. Actually getting a place to stay and to learn about this world would turn out to be nice. Pan would have to remember to thank Miss Danger if he ran into her again at some point. He was excited to learn what this school was actually about, and everything in him screamed that he should just come flying through, show everyone who he was, but he had been told not to use his powers when arriving at the academy. Pan had resisted the urge to fly, and just generally not float around, so he thought he deserved some credit there at least. He had even managed to find some clothes with the stipend he had been offered. Nothing fancy, but enough that he could blend in. A pair of dark blue jeans, a bright red t-shirt with a large white exclamation mark on the front. A pair of red sneakers that almost, but not quite, matched the color of his t-shirt. His dark red hair was, quite frankly, a mess, sticking out in in all directions, but he didn't care much. He was carrying a small brown bag with a few other belongings he had picked up, including a cell phone that he had been told to buy, whatever that was. So instead of flying, Pan was, for once, walking. It seemed to take such a long time to get from the main building to the dormitories, but he was getting there. He almost started floating when he saw a familiar face exiting the dorm building. "Miss Danger!" he exclaimed, his happiness shown in his voice as he started waving. Hurrying over to Veronica and Janus, he quickly extended a hand to Janus while he introduced himself. "I'm Pan Barrie! Nice to meet you!" He was excited to meet other people his age here, and he let it show.
  12. @Avenger Assembled After seeing a discussion in the chat on using continuous on powers in an array, I'm not quite sure if what I'm going for with the Environmental Control power in the Mesa Guardian Array would work. Basically, switch in the power in the array and activate the sandstorm centered around Dust Devil in one round, then it sticks around the next rounds because it is continuous, even if I switch to another power in the array. I'm not sure if this would work or not. If not, I'll figure something else out.
  13. Forever Boy The pair inside the Freedom Oil Station looked weird. Like they were drawn, not fully human. They were short, but Pan had seen his share of short people in Neverworld. There was something else that made them stand out compared to everyone else Pan had seen here. Their clothes looked very different, even from all the different manners of outfits he had seen in this world, and they didn't seem to have any color at all. A woman's voice brought him out of his thoughts. Pan hadn't even heard Lucy approaching before she was talking besides him. Not something he experienced often. Still, she made her intentions known, and she seemed nice. He accepted her hand, shaking it firmly, but gently. Pan had never understood why anyone would want to show their strength by trying to crush another's hand. "Hello Lucy Harker, I'm Forever Boy. I was just about to get started, if you want to join me?" Pan floated over to the door and slowly pushed it open. With a smile, he waved his hand and a thick golden fog began to fill the store. Both he and Lucy would be able to see through it.
  14. It had been a good day. Relaxing a bit before classes at Claremont would start, a few days of freedom in Freedom City, exploring his new home, but honestly, Pan had started to become bored. He had been exploring, he had seen sights, he had been a sight flying around, but he adventure. And well, following the red and blue sirens usually worked out fine for that. The ever present grin on his lips, Pan stayed close enough to follow, at least until he could figure out the trouble himself, at a place that was apparently the "Freedom Oil Station". He could wait, of course. Figure out what was going on. But that would mean waiting, and he really didn't feel like doing that right now. Having perhaps a minute or two before the police would arrive, he flew over to a window to try and see what was happening inside.
  15. A part of Pan regretted taunting the fish. Just a tiny bit. Not because of the fish getting worked out, but just because he was so boring. He's not sure what he had expected, but usually people just cursed at him or shot at him or something. This was much worse than being shot at. The darkness all around them just disappeared, with Facsimile just pulling all of it into himself. Pan paused for a moment in mid-air and just stared at him. "Cool." He should have stopped hiding much sooner. This was great. Still, Pan caught movement out the corner of his eye. The other bad guy, the bird one, he starts moving and talking, almost a song of hisses and roars. The glowing armbands and swirling energy going around the arch didn't seem like a good thing either. "Hey Birdie! We're not done playing!" Golden energy glowed in his hands, shimmering like the trail he behind him. Wasting no time, Pan threw it towards the Electrum Eagle, where it would expand into glowing rings to hold him in place if it made contact.
  16. Switching the Tricks array to Snare, and throwing some golden bands at Electrum Eagle to try and stop him as standard action. 1d20+14 = 29 , DC 19 Reflex save to avoid being snared if it hits.
  17. Completely changed the build, basing it off one provided by Exaccus, but with a few changes, including a Toughness +5 shift. Now, he's a bit more of a tank, able to just shrug off most hits, or alternatively turn into sand or get away, with an array of offensive options. Just need to spend the last 4 PP, probably on some minor immunities and a magical awareness super-sense.
  18. And completely redone, based heavily on Exaccus' build, but shifted towards heavy toughness and changing an attack for a elemental control. 4 points to go. --- Dust Devil II Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: -5 Defense / +5 Toughness In Brief: The successor of the Dust Devil legacy, expanding his protectorate beyond just Magic Mesa. Theme: Shakedown - The Score Alternate Identity: Cassidy Collins (Secret) Birthplace: Southside, Freedom City Residence: Southside, Freedom City Base of Operations: Freedom City & Magic Mesa Occupation: Grocery store stocker Affiliations: Magic Mesa Family: John Collins (father, grocery store manager), Pearl Collins (née Hart, mother, dance studio teacher), William 'Billy' Collins (16 years younger brother, student), Benjamin "Uncle Ben" Collins (paternal uncle, unemployed) Description: Age: 26 (DoB: June 5th, 1992) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5'10'' Weight: 175 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Black Cassidy stands at 5'10'' with an athletic build. He has short black hair and a full beard. He is average looking, never tending to stand out in crowds. He usually dresses casually in jeans and t-shirts, wearing a denim jacket if necessary. He tends to wear dark red or grey colors. As the Dust Devil II, Cassidy wears grey pants and black shoes. He wears a dark grey shirts with white patterns across the torso and lower arms, as seen in the picture below, wearing black gloves on his hands. He wears a grey bandana as a mask that hides his upper face. History: Cassidy Collins grew up as an average boy from Freedom City's Southside district. A slacker at heart, he never amounted to much, rarely having any motion or drive beyond just getting through the day so he could read comics, play games or hang out with his friends. He didn't excel at school, he only did a little sports if it was a game with friends or something that he had to do, and his parents John and Pearl grew to accept that he would most likely never amount to much. He was trusting of everyone, to the point of being naïve, which would often get him into trouble. Cassidy's parents blamed the influence of his beloved uncle Benjamin Collins, a conman that moved in and out of the prison system. At least some of it changed when Cassidy's brother William was born a few months after Cassidy turned 16. Immediately taking a shine to his baby brother, Cassidy would spend hours playing with and doting on his brother. Graduating from high school, Cassidy even went through a series of jobs to help support his somewhat struggling family, though he would never be able to hold a job for long. He just didn't show the interest in the work or he would be caught slacking off. Still, Cassidy's uncle Ben would show up to help him from time to time, whether it was finding him a new job or offer moral support. Eventually, Cassidy moved into his own place, a tiny one room apartment in Southside, though he would still make frequent visits to his family. Cassidy's life would change drastically when he lost his latest job. Declining his father's offer to come work in the grocery store that he managed, Cassidy instead accepted to come work with uncle Ben. Unfortunately, uncle Ben was an even worse influence than Pearl and John had feared. A short while later, they went on a road trip to meet with one of uncle Ben's clients in the American South West. Cassidy believed that he was simple coming along to keep his uncle company and occasionally carry heavy cases of equipment. Cassidy thought it was strange that they had to drive all the way out in the desert to do the trade, but uncle Ben would have to know best. After all, he was his uncle, and Cassidy had never had a reason not to trust him. Out in the desert, Cassidy accidentally opened one of the cases and discovered its contents: Alien weaponry, stolen wreckage from the 2018 Terminus invasion. Cassidy panicked, alerting uncle Ben's buyers to his presence. With a single "Sorry" and explanation that it was simply business, uncle Ben shot Cassidy three times in the chest. As Cassidy fell over, his uncle Ben returned to his buyers. Hours later, Cassidy opened his eyes. It was a miracle that he still lived. Only, he didn't. He could no longer feel his heart beating. Uncle Ben and his buyers had disappeared, and vultures were circling overhead. He knew that he was now in the Magic Mesa, and he knew that it had brought him back to become its new guardian, as the newest Dust Devil. Cassidy had little choice in the matter, and at first, he simply wanted to give up. He had been betrayed and killed. Even with the new powers he instinctively knew he possessed, he was the wrong man for the job. Then he realized that uncle Ben might come from the rest of his family. Reacting by instinct, Cassidy travelled through the sand for the first time, returning to Southside. Shocked at his newfound abilities, he accepted his charge. While he returned to his parents, he kept the details of the falling out with uncle Ben to himself, instead simply saying that he was dangerous and they should stay away from them, while he also accepted a job as stocker in his father's grocery store. Now, Cassidy finds himself driven to fight evil where he finds it. He feels a passion and drive unlike any before, as he steps into the role of the Dust Devil, not just to protect the Magic Mesa and his family, but to make sure what happened to him happens to no one else. Personality & Motivation: Before his transformation into the Dust Devil, Cassidy was a slacker. He made his way through school without much effort or accomplishment, which informed his attitude to most of everything in his life. Cassidy were trusting of others, often being called naïve. Never really getting excited about anything or trying to get involved, Cassidy just followed along with what others told him. The only exception were his family. Caring deeply for his much younger brother, Cassidy would do anything for him and his parents. He secretly felt ashamed of his lack of drive and initiative, but never shared it with anyone. After becoming the Dust Devil, Cassidy has become a much more driven individual. While he has lost much of his unconditional trust in others, Cassidy has leaned into the role of a hero, now being more than willing to put himself in harm's way to save others, and actively seeking out injustice to fight and wrongs to right. He rarely speaks much, letting his actions speak for him instead. He is troubled about his ressurection and what it means for him, and just what he has become. Cassidy is not fully sure what the Magic Mesa wants with him, and wonders what will happen if there is ever a conflict between himself and the Magic Mesa. Powers & Tactics: Cassidy's power was granted by the Magic Mesa, making them magical in nature. He prefers to get up close and personal, where his strength can be used to effectively disable his opponents. He trusts in his great durability to protect him against most attacks, leading to him often trying to protect others. Not above dirty tricks, he will turn to sand to seemingly disappear and strike at his opponent without them knowing what hit them. Power Descriptions: All of Cassidy's powers come from the energies of the Magic Mesa. Appointed as the Mesa' newest Dust Devil, Cassidy can transform into a being of living sand. Like the previous Dust Devil, Cassidy cannot be killed and he requires no rest or sustenance, and while he has yet to see the signs, he has stopped aging. He is incredibly resilient to damage, being able to shrug off most attacks. He posses incredible strength, only just learning the limits to his power. He can sense magic around him, just getting a feeling that there is something weird going on, though he has yet to explore this ability. While Cassidy's body normally appears fully human, he is able to to reshape it in various ways. He can become a cloud of sand, allowing himself to move freely through small cracks and become immune to most types of physical damage, or he can merge with sand around him, using it as a medium for travelling great distances. This is even possible if the sand at his location and destination is not directly connected. By manipulating the sand in his body, Cassidy is able to fly at roughly 25 mph. While he has yet to experiment much with the ability to reshape his body, Cassidy was quick to learn to create revolvers out of the sand, allowing him to shoot bullets made of sand. He has theorized that the ease of shape comes from the previous Dust Devil. With some experimentation, Cassidy has learned to create swords out of sand, extending his reach in melee. Finally, he is able to control the sand in his body and around him to create a sandstorm effect, greatly hindering those around him. He has learned to control the sandstorm to a degree where it will only affect those he will it to. All of Cassidy's powers has the Magic and Sand descriptors, with some having additional descriptors as noted. Complications: Dead Like Me: Cassidy died. Then he came back. The experience was traumatic, and he has yet to deal with all his feelings on the matter. The experience has changed him greatly, even as he tries to put on a brave face for his family. Guardian of Magic Mesa: Cassidy's powers come with a price. While not as strictly bound as the first Dust Devil, he must protect the Magic Mesa if needed, forcefully being drawn to its protection. This can both mean direct threats at the Magic Mesa, as well as more indirect threats, such as those whose actions could simply threaten the gateways between worlds. This can lead to Cassidy becoming involved in situations and battles he would rather have avoided, or being forced to abruptly leave his current location. Dust Devil Legacy: The Dust Devil is an almost mythic figure. The protector of Magic Mesa, he is a ruthless guardian. Those that know of the first Dust Devil can be predisposed towards Cassidy, for good or bad. Whatever Happened to the Dust Devil: The old Dust Devil is gone, and Cassidy has taken his place as guardian of Magic Mesa. He doesn't know whether the first Dust Devil moved on, died or was otherwise rendered unable to fulfill his duties. Betrayed: Cassidy was betrayed and killed by his own uncle. He understandably has some trouble fully trusting others. Man of Sand: While he is able to become human, Cassidy is essentially a being of living sand. He is starting to grasp the implications of just what his powers mean, and he fears that he is no longer considered human. He might react badly if confronted with this fact. Dutiful Brother & Son: Cassidy cares deeply for his parents and younger brother. They're both a strength and a weakness. Desperado: Cassidy tries to keep his identity as the Dust Devil a secret. Not even his parents and brother know his secret, which is starting to create some friction. 20. Oh, they did not like that! Grasping purple claws struck from the shadows around him, trying to take hold of him. To ground him. Twisting himself forward in a spin, Pan barely avoided the grasping claws. Despite the danger a grin still played over his lips as the claws grasped at the glimmering glow left in his wake. It seemed like others had started to get in on the action too. A rather ugly bald man seemed to be confronting the Electrum Eagle, and the people around them had started running. That was good, at least. And the man that announced himself as Facsimile? Now he just looked cool! He attacked something, probably the Platinum Porpoise. And then the monster appears, twisting and turning and screaming and shrieking and flailing. For just a brief second, Pan froze while looking at it, then his grin returned. He could work with that thing. He swooped further above it while calling out to the Platinum Porpoise. "Hey, Fishie, where did you go? Did you take a seat yourself or something? Come out and play before someones tries to hook you!"

  25. Pan opened his eyes, and everything came rushing back in an instant. He had been with the Lost Heroes. They had fought against the Hooked Man, and they had lost so badly. He was the only one that was left standing, and somehow, he had managed to cut off the Hooked Man's hand. The next thing he knew, a monstrous creature rose from the depths and everything had turned black. Just like today, he had opened his eyes to find himself in this strange place called Freedom City. Everything here was different. No soaring airships filling the sky, rainbows were far from him. No pirates and no fairies. It had been a week, and Pan still didn't feel entirely safe here. Better to stay hidden, in case the Hooked Man returned. At least until this morning. The people around here looked pretty much like back home, aside from the odd flying person he had spotted in the distance, but these two were just weird. Black, silver and purple uniforms. One had wings, the other had webbed fingers, and they had appeared out of thin air. They didn't exactly seem like nice fellows, but they were interesting at least. He should probably have stayed hidden, but Pan couldn't help himself. He smelled an adventure, and with a grin playing over his lips, he followed them, doing his best to stay hidden. The moment the odd couple blew open the wall, Pan was sure. They really weren't nice fellows. They seemed strong, and he really should stay hidden, just in case they worked for the Hooked Man, but he just couldn't help himself. The last week had been boring, and he needed this. Wasting little time, he materialized his red and green uniform and took off from the ground. It felt good to fly again, even if only for a short move, moving to get above and behind them. He heard the pair introduce themselves. So that's how you do it in Freedom City. Brilliant! With a loud shout to get their attention, Pan called out. What better name to use for himself than what they had called him back on Neverworld? "And I am Forever Boy! Here to save the day from fowls and fools!" He clenched his right hand and used it to beat on his chest once, the grin on his lips only growing. He had missed this. Directing his mind wave towards the Electrum Eagle and Platinum Porpoise while speaking, Pan did his best to try and confuse them a bit, maybe to give some of the other people in here a chance to get away.
