  1. Nevermore II "Hey, that's just the one I'd recommend anyway!" Charlie let out a small laugh, as they raced down the street, away from the noise behind them. "But I know this great little place, it's not too far from Claremont. I swear that super villains showing up in the middle of lunch isn't normal here. I mean, there's lots of bad guys showing up all the time, it's kinda part of why we're doing the entire Claremont thing, but, y'know, not that often." Honestly? He kind of wanted to bring El to the Summers mansion. Show off a bit with all the stuff they had there, but no. Alek would skin him alive if he tried anything like that.
  2. GHOST Casper had heard of Archer. She was a good cop. Some bad stuff in her past, but she probably hadn't been guilty, so... yeah, alright. He knew what it was like to be accused of things you hadn't done. "Alright. Let's see that closet, then." He nodded at the other two. The... frog... and the young woman. He'd seen weirder. But it was still weird. "I'm Ghost, by the way. I'm not really much of a magic guy, so I guess I'll let you take point." Ghost gestured with his hands. "Lead the way, Detective Archer."
  3. Alright, Ghost is gonna be on the watch with anything he might spot with his x-ray vision, just in case.
  4. Yes. He's well and truly grappled, bound and helpless too. Just floating the possibility for anyone on the ground near Luke, you can try to do a coup-de-grace against Trawler if you want. Rules are on page 162 in the core book, under Helpless Defenders.
  5. That's a HIT! That'd be a DC16 Fort Save for the Drain effect, however! Only damage effects are 15+Rank, everything else is 10+Rank! Let's start with a Fort Save vs. Drain TOU: 13 TOU vs. DC26: 26 @Nerdzul I'll need you to make a grapple check for that! Here's Trawler's grapple to resist: 23 Give me that and an IC, and I'll follow up with Beekeeper and Red Death. 22 - Shadowborne - 2HP - Unharmed 22 - Howl - 3HP - Unharmed 19 - Nightscale - 2HP - Bruise (x1) 16 - Beekeeper - Bruise (x2) 14 - Red Death - Unharmed 13 - Madame Raven - 3HP - Unharmed 12 - Trawler - Unharmed, TOU-3 (1 restored at Init 19 each rnd.) 10 - Nevermore II - 3HP - Unharmed 07 - Fearmaster - Unharmed
  6. Notice: 34 Depending on the result of that, I'd like to have Rebellion single out one of those people its possible to isolate him or her and use his Paralyze effect on them, then morph into them! And steal any key cards or the like that they might haven.
  7. Nope, you still got him. I assumed Luke is keeping Matt in place so Watchdog could do her thing.
  8. GM Thomas looked back at Jennifer and sighed, almost slumping over. "Alright, alright... sorry. I'm just..." He moved to the chair and sat down heavily, burying his head in his hand. "Sir?" The officer approached. "Who would want to steal this from you?" Thomas shook his head. "Ugh, I don't know... anyone that want ground breaking technology for helping people with missing limbs?" His voice was dripping with sarcasm. "We've had half a dozen offers. Could be anyone hiring someone to steal it."
  9. REBELLION What's Up Danger - Blackway & Black Caviar As far as Rebellion is concerned, he stands alone against the secret conspiracy that controls all of Emerald City. He faces the danger head on, with little care for the danger that he encounters along the way. He seeks the situations that bring him closer to the truth, no matter how dangerous they might be. Bonus fact: Listening to this song for the first time, before I even knew where it was from, gave me some of the initial inspiration for the character. Untraveled Road - Thousand Foot Krutch 'cause just one voice is enough, to make sleeping giants stand up describes Rebellion's entire mission statement. He goes where no one else wants to go, he finds the clues, he searches for the clues that others might not even see, all in the name of waking up the sleeping giant that is the people of Emerald City, all to reveal the truth to everyone. The Chamber might be able to silence one voice, but never them all. Magnum Bullets - Nightrunner (feat. Dan Avidan) A story of revenge and death. Ultimately, Rebellion's quest is a selfish one. He was not a good person, and unless his aunt had been killed before him, he most likely would have been content to follow in his parents' footsteps. As I've pointed out in past vignettes, it is very possible that Rebellion's quest will ultimately lead to his end. Tightrope (Infect Bonus Track Version) - Papa Roach *Explicit lyrics* Rebellion was not a good person before he met the Terror. He was trained to be part of the next generation of villains, learning to fend for himself and not care about others. Even now, as Rebellion pursues an ultimately heroic goal, he is still struggling with being a hero. How does he make the right choice, between his mission and keeping others safe? Everything Glows - D.A.D. Elliot keeps much to himself, but the world has been opened to him, so very different from what he once saw. He kept his eyes closed, he didn't care about anything else, now everything is changed, life has grabbed his shoulder and everything glows. Mad World - Gary Jules Slow, contemplative, depressing. Elliot stands alone in the crowd, seeing the things that others doesn't. His life is not a happy one, and it probably won't ever be. Sing - My Chemical Romance Rebellion is defiant to the end. He stands tall, he will not falter, he will roar in the face of the conspiracy as he goes down swinging. He will raise his voice, he will be heard and he will fight for the people of Emerald City, whether they want him to or not. Maybe Tomorrow Is A Better Day - Poets of the Fall One day, maybe, things will be better. If not for Rebellion, then for everyone else. Somehow, he will make sure of that. You Want It Darker - Leonard Cohen Rebellion's theme for dealing with the Chamber and their businesses. They kill the flame, they stiffle life, they control it all and make everything darker than it should be. It is a heavy theme, not something easily dealt with. If theirs is the glory, then Rebellion is fine with being the shame. I Have the Power - All Good Things Rebellion's battle theme. Elliot has a dark power that, along with his upbringing and life, should have made him a villain. It is not the kind of power that a hero wields, just like how the song is rather ambigious about the morality of its protagonist.
  10. "Woof." Pan grinnned back at Eira with his reply, while he looked at little pup in his hands, slowly holding it up and holding it in close, letting it lick his face. "You are an adorable little one, are you not? Yes, you are!" He made kissy noises for a moment, before gently putting the pup down, letting it run around a bit. He let his arm fall around Eira, his eyes trailing from her and back to the pup. "Did I ever tell you about the time I met the Foreverpup and Foreverkitten?"
  11. Nevermore II "Ghosts would probably be easier to deal with." Charlie grimaced, looking through the holograms that Alek brought up before them. He hadn't been able to look into the Ushers nearly as much as he would have liked. He hadn't exactly been relaxing or anything, he had his own things to deal with at Claremont, but the whole Usher situation just rubbed him the wrong way. "Got it. I saw what they did to Bowman last year." He wasn't about to take chances here. "I'd say stick to the shadows, but that one guy did something weird with them. Don't wanna risk him hiding in them." Charlie moved the holograms around, bringing up a map of the area. "Everything's still in bad shape from the Terminus Invasion, right? We should stay high, out of sight. Stick to rooftops if possible, try and get a good overview. I don't think we should get too far from each other."
  12. GM "Nnn... no. No." Matt was stammering. Pulling against the restraints. The restraints were holding. The table seemed to be starting to give in. "No." His voice was different. Mechnical, automatic. He spoke, but he did not want to speak. Someone else was making him do this. He raised his free hand towards Watchdog. His skin tore and peeled as it broke apart, a barrel breaking free from his skin and pointing at him. "Release me. Now."
  13. Let's see if Ghost knows anything about Detective Archer with some Well-Informed and a Gather Information roll: 22
  14. "I just... kinda do it." Yeah. Casper had a feeling that wasn't gonna cut it. He really didn't like to talk too much about his powers, what they were and how he got them, but he was the one that came to Frost. He had to give something, right? "I too close to an extradimensional looking glass device at Astro Labs that sorta malfunctioned. So, my entire body's pretty much riddled with this weird extradimensional radiation and I can do this. I sort of... dimensionally disperse my body. If that makes any sense?"
  15. REBELLION Three others? The nightmare before him and more? It could be an useful distraction. Rebellion looked at the nightmare. His white eyes glowed. "Deal." He pointed to the men that stood guard at the door. "Distract them." He didn't care much for how it did, but he could at least try to direct the nightmare's attention.
  16. GM Blackstaff could easily track the creature to the rooftops where it had stopped in its track. There was something else there, something he couldn't quite sense, something blurred. But the Carnifex was still, not talking. That much he could sense, at least. The guards on the ground seemed uneasy. Almost like they expected trouble.
  17. GM Thomas rushed forward, grabbing hold of Jennifer's shoulders with both hands. "Who did it? What did they look like?" He obviously haven't been listening to a word she had said before then. "Why didn't you stop them or call for help!?" The security guards eventually managed to pry him off. "Sir, you need to calm down. She didn't have anything to do with this." "She could have stopped it!"
  18. GM The warehouse seemed abandoned, much like it was supposed to be. Empty, covered in thick layers of dust. Some broken windows. A few scattered containers left behind, all empty. If there was anyone there, it didn't seem like they noticed the group as they entered. It seemed like it was a bust. Then Archer noticed some tracks in the dust. Facsimile could track a miniscule amounts of the strange blue drug that he had sensed. It led to a large hatch in the floor. Shooting Star would be strong enough to hold it up. It was big enough that a car could drive through, if needed.
  19. Archer: Stealth: 25 Notice: 20 Results in IC.
  20. Oh no, its 2021 and no new thread! Anyway, gonna be gone for about a week starting March 27th. Might have a computer, won't have any stable internet.
  21. The House of Usher From the shadow of the Kingston Doomforge, the House of Usher is reborn! Once again, a new generation of Ushers stand to profit, providing the Freedom City underworld with anything and everything they want or need. No deed is too depraved, no request too dark. What they want, they take. What they can't, they destroy. All is for the House of Usher. Description & History The Ushers have lived in Freedom City for centuries, trading in everything dark and depraved that decent men and women would turn away from. Swindling Native Americans out of their lands, trading slaves after slavery was abolished, assassination, breaking strikes, running bootleg liquour, supplying super villains with drugs, minions and whatever else they needed, even trading with Nazi Germany at the height of World War II, no sin was too great for the Ushers. In the name of profit, they would do anything. The Ushers were so reviled by Freedom City at large that they had to turn to inbreeding to preserve their lineage. Their madness and deformity only grew. During the 1960'es, family patriarch Alister Usher cultivated a criminal empire born of sin and wickedness, eventually attracting the attention of the original Raven. After nearly a decade of conflict, the Raven managed to defeat Alister Usher. On November 12th 1969, the House of Usher in Lantern Hill was burned to the ground, leaving only charred bodies behind. For decades, the Usher line was believed to be extinct. In 2018, Alister Usher's grandchildren returned to Freedom City. Unnoticed in the chaos of the 2018 Terminus Invasion, the Usher's staked their claim on Kingston. Here, in the Shadow of the Doomforge, they built an exact replica of the House of Usher that once stood on Lantern Hill. Slowly and carefully, the House of Usher expanded their reach and grew their power, careful not to attract unwanted attention until they were ready. Their clandestine actions bore fruit, and through blackmail, coercion and manipulation, their power grew. The House of Usher grew strong in the shadow of the Terminus. They changed, their constant exposure granting them uncanny abilities, twisted powers that only increased their madness. The House of Usher exists for two reasons: Profit and revenge. They do not care that the original Raven has long since he retired. The Raven Family will suffer, as their grandfather did, and they do not care if all of Freedom burns alongside them. Members The House of Usher The scions of the House of Usher are all warped in some way. Most commonly, their skin will be pale and seem like it is almost rotting, though other deformities and mutations can appear. Anthony Usher: The head of the family. A pale young man, always dressed in immaculate Victorian era suits. Anthony led the return to Freedom, all in the name of profit and revenge. Anthony was born with insensate flesh, but otherwise dramatically enhanced senses. His time in the shadow of the Doomforge has granted him the ability to instill fear in others and control shadows, even shaping them and turning them solid. Bernard Usher: The thief. Bernard is a lanky man with long black hair, his left eye noticably larget than his right. His Victorian suits will invariably be in tatters. Motivated solely by greed. He has always been able to have whatever he wanted. Why should he stop now? The Doomforge has unhinged Bernard from reality. Unless focused, his body seems to stutter between movements, as he bypasses great distances in little time, almost as if he moves at super speed. David Usher: The smuggler. A trader of human beings, David services the most depraved of the Usher's clients. A short young man, standing at barely 5 feet tall, with short blonde hair. He lives for the thrill of the hunt, to find whatever others can't, to procure whatever is desired, no matter how or why. The powers he has been granted by the Doomforge, if any, are a mystery. Francis Usher: The enforcer. A hulking brute of a man, Francis was one of the main advocates for taking revenge on the Raven Family. He is the youngest of the Ushers and looks up to Anthony, who he will often accompany. Bald, tall, unnaturally muscled and appearing much older than he is, Francis is a sadist that takes joy in pure violence and inflicting pain on others. He is much smarter than his appearance and demeanor would suggest. The Doomforge have only served to further warp Francis' body into grotesque proportions. Strong, durable and fast. Vivian Usher: The mastermind. An anomaly among the Ushers, Vivian was born beautiful and perfect with long white hair, and thus, she was shunned by her family. Only her brother-cousin Anthony would look upon her, and they grew to be co-dependent. Vivian is a mastermind and Anthony's co-conspirator, the one that makes all his dreams and plans come true. She continues to push the House of Usher to take revenge on the Raven Family, making sure that the family never forgets. She has only grown more beautiful and deadly in the shadow of the Doomforge. A perfect woman, she charms any and all into her graces, then kills them with a poison touch. Known Associates The Devil's Advocates: A group of bikers that made a deal with the Devil to gain powers based on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They, and the bikers that serve under them, serve as enforcers and security for the House of Usher. Angel: The leader of the group. A hedonistic Satanist that believes that might makes right. Death. Born Loser, the: An conman and aspiring musician with a fondness for permanently disfiguring his victims. Famine. Buddy: A crude, disease-ridden lech. Plague. Cueball: A supremely violent and tough man. War.

  23. Give me some Stealth and Notice rolls, then I'll follow up with a GM post. @Kaede Kimura @Exaccus
  24. Archer II Archer paused for a moment, staring at Shooting Star. "Screw you." He silently shook his head at the question. She wasn't that much younger than him, and still, he wanted to complain about freaking kids. Not a good sign. Archer leapt off the rooftop, swinging down to the building, landing next to the others. He looked at Shooting Star and Facs. The way she was acting, she was clearly picking up on something. "Don't read too much into everything." He reached into his quiver and pulled out a few arrows, nocking them on the bow. "This ain't high school. Not everyone ribbing on you are into you." Moving along the wall, Archer crept towards a door and lightly pushed it open. "We go silent, then bring the noise once we find something."
  25. GM The four ring leaders of the gang were loaded into a van, shackled with powers dampeners, while O'Brian tried to direct the other officers in how to remove all the bikers that Ghost had gotten stuck in the ground, grumbling all the while, sending annoyed glances at Ghost. The van drove off, into the city. Cueball was the first to come to, struggling against his restraint to little effect. Angel was next, followed by the Born Loser. Buddy was the last to open his eyes. Even stuck in traffic, it shouldn't have taken them this long before they reached somewhere equipped to handle them, somewhere they could be held, at least until transfer to proper detention. The guard inside the van appeared uneasy. He knocked on the wall, talking in a hushed voice about what was happening. He didn't get any response, which only made him more nervous. Finally, the van came to a stop. The guard was, if anything, even more nervous now, moving his weapon between the four Devil's Advocates. The door to the van opened behind to darkness. The Kingston Doomforge loomed in the distance. A shadow struck, impaling the guard against the wall, before a pale man with white hair, dressed in a victorian suit, stepped into the van, with a smile on his face. Angel returned the smile.
