  2. Paper “Groovy.” Leon grinned. He made no effort to hide his gaze as she watched Neko hurry off towards the kitchen after Berni’s dupe. He stroked the cat left sitting in his lap as he watched Vik switch out movies. “Ah, meant to take Neko to see the new one, but just couldn’t seem to find a good time.” Leon frowned. “Date nights can be hard to schedule sometimes.” He admitted.
  3. Since Paper is next, I was hoping to use an HP to add Feats: Affects Insubstantial 2 to his Snare.
  4. Does that bring us out of combat? And do you want to GM post Anarchillies’ response before we post?
  5. Seraphim Seraphim breathed a sigh of relief as Cole started to come to. “Well, I’d have to say they do look like the old photos they use in the documentaries.” She agreed before a sudden shockwave hit her, and slammed her into the same car King Cole had hit. Her head spun and she felt unsteady for a moment, but something told her she couldn’t afford to sit there. “Ooooouch.” She groaned and it took an effort of will, but Seraphim shook her head to clear the haze. She felt the warmth of her light and felt like she could think again. Her body still ached, but it wasn’t that bad. Seraphim began to glow and shimmering wings of light appeared at her back. In an instant she was airborne. Another orb of light formed in her hand and she slung it between the villains with, perhaps, more than a little anger than she intended. It was only afterwards she realized her classmates might be caught in the effect and she swore as the flash went off. “Son of a-“

  8. The ghostly elf returned Dreamer’s bow with an inclination of her own head. Dreamer saw Morrowind’s eyes widen in recognition for only a moment before returning to stoic curiosity. “A dreamer, I see. And possibly a namesake. Many years it’s been, perhaps too many.” She said softly and turned back to Blackstaff. “You hold secrets from me.” She accused, with amusement. “Time for that later.” Blackstaff responded and the ghost gave him a disapproving look. He set his coffee down and stood up. “Morrowind, this is Adrianna. Adrianna, this is Morrowind.” “Ah, yes. Formal introductions.” Despite the look she gave Blackstaff, the ghostly figure sounded amused and gave Dreamer a proper bow of her own. Her ghostly gown disturbed by an ethereal breeze none of the living could sense. “How can I be of service?” “Oh you’re gonna love this..” Blackstaff said with a sigh and began to describe everything he could remember about the attacker, prompting Dreamer to add any details she remembered as well. Lark listened as they described their evening adventure so far. At the end Morrowind gave an exaggerated sigh. “Not a simple task, but not beyond my abilities. And I suppose you wish to know what I find as soon as possible.” “That is how this usually works.” He tried not to smirk. “I will see what I can find in my books.” Morrowind gave a dramatic swirl of her gown, dismissing the gathered living, and faded from sight.
  9. Lark Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: None In Brief: Part-time college student/part-time secretary/part-time werewolf Catchphrase: *** Theme: Bad Moon on the Rise Alternate Identity: Lark Williams (Secret) Birthplace: Emerald City Residence: ECU Dorms, Emerald City Base of Operations: Blackstaff Investigations Occupation: College Student, Business Major Affiliations: Blackstaff Family: Mother and Father Description: Age: 25 (DoB: September 17th, 1998) Apparent Age: mid 20s Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’ 10” / 7’ 3” Weight: 138lb / 242lb Eyes: Hazel Hair: Dirty-Blonde / Light Brown Description: Lark looks average enough in her size and build, but take a closer look as you can notice the defined muscles under the softness of college life. She shares a lot of her looks with her mother including her dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. As a werewolf, Lark is capable of assuming a giant sized wolf or the stereotypical hybrid form. Her fur is a light brown but her inhuman eyes keep their hazel coloring . Razor sharp claws and fangs complete the look. History: While in her freshman year as Business major at Emerald City University, Lark was attacked by a werewolf one night. She was the only survivor of the group she had been with. Weeks in the hospital and questions from police and media left her feeling scared and tired, but it wasn’t until the next full moon approached and the nightmares began that she truly felt the terror. She had transformed into a savage beast like the one that had attacked her for two nights straight before stumbling across Blackstaff’s office. He had already been investigating the attacks that were occurring every full moon, when Lark explained she had survived the previous attack he quickly agreed to help her. Using her connection to her attacker the two tracked down the werewolf responsible for the ‘Full Moon Murders’ as the media had dubbed them. With the werewolf responsible for turning her dead, Lark’s nightmares stopped. But in truth she was still deeply afraid of her condition. Blackstaff attempted to remove the curse, but was unable to. Instead he promised to help her control the transformations and the easy now inside her clawing to escape. So, she began working at his office as his secretary/office assistant. Though she has recently pressed Blackstaff to be more involved with cases. Personality & Motivation: Lark is cheerful and upbeat. She had planned on a simple life running a business of her own. And while her condition complicates things, she still wants to make something of herself. Courageous and strong willed, she has practiced with her werewolf nature to better control it. She isn’t afraid to put herself in danger to help someone else, though she still sometimes overestimates her abilities. Power Descriptions: Lark is a werewolf, complete with all its weaknesses. Silver and wolf’s bane being two biggest. Her curse is magical in nature. Complications: Silver Bullet: The touch of silver can burn causing her to be weary of it. Herbalism: Wolf’s bane can cause a range of reactions depending on how it is handled or processed. Mark of the beast: Other creatures can sometimes sense when a predator is near. This can cause complications ranging from unintentional intimidation to unwanted irrational fear of her depending on the creature and situation. Call of the Wild: Strong magical or mental forces could cause her to change uncontrolled, perhaps even enraging her and driving her to attack indiscriminately. 10. Blackstaff Power Level: 10 (192/205PP) Unspent Power Points: 13pp Trade-Offs: None In Brief: Private/Paranatural Investigator Catchphrase: *** Theme: People are Strange - cover by Echo and the Bunnymen (originally by The Doors) Alternate Identity: Christopher Daye (Public); Christopher Blake Verus Daye (Secret) Birthplace: Just outside Richmond, Virginia Residence: Emerald City, Renovated townhouse/office Base of Operations: Blackstaff Investigation Occupation: P.I. Affiliations: none Family: Father (missing), Mother, 2 Sisters Description: Age: 36 (DoB: May 30, 1984) Apparent Age: 26 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’ 11” Weight: 178 Eyes: Hazel Hair: Brown Description: A night owl, more by necessity then nature, Christopher isn’t nearly as pale as one would expect. Preferring darker than neutral colors he’s usually dressed in slacks and button up shirt; and usually looking like he may have just rolled out of bed in them, he often completes his attire with a trench coat. His hair is cut short causing it to stand up a little spiky. Christopher can be found sporting a trimmed mustache and goatee that never quite connects. But long hours on the job can leave him with stubble and needing a shave and trim. History: Born 2 weeks early, to James and Agatha Daye in their home during a total solar eclipse his parents believe he was born under a sign. His mother was a sorceress and knew right away Christopher possessed magic potential. His father, a scholar of arcane lore but no wizard himself, at first wanted her to wait to teach him but eventually conceded to his wife’s wishes. Christopher showed great promise and his mother was proud. Then, one winter’s morning when he was 13, he had to be pulled from his burning bedroom by his father. Once his mother had magically suppressed what her realized to be hell flames, she discovered half charged runes that she hadn’t taught her son chalked onto his bedroom floor. When confronted young Christopher told his parents a shadowy figure was teaching them to him in his dreams. Fearing the implications his parents quickly set about to flee their current home and hide. During the rush to escape James Daye disappeared. Now panicked even more, Agatha Daye gathered Christopher and his two younger sisters (Bethany and Cassandra) and took them to Freedom in an attempt to hide them. As he continued to grow, his mother became more serious about her teachings and drilled him in the importance of the Light over the Shadow and not to listen to the shadowy figure that came to him in his dreams. Through practice and discipline the figure showed itself less and less. After high school he moved to Emerald City with a friend decided to go for his private investigator license. After a few years apprenticing with an established investigator he left on good terms to open his own office. Now, many years later, Christopher Blake Verus Daye operates under the business name of Blackstaff Investigations. He doesn’t advertise, but somehow people who need him find his card or number, or sometimes even find their way into his office. Often with problems that normal avenues can’t handle. Personality & Motivation: Though he may seem rough and snarky when you first meet him, Christopher is very kind and loyal. But if you make him mad he isn’t one to be underestimated. And one of the easiest ways to get on his bad side, is to blatantly break the rules of magic he tries to live by. He relies on his quick wit and magic to get himself out of the trouble his sharp tongue and protective nature can get him in to. There’s been a time or two he’s fallen for a sob story and cursed himself for it. Behind the face of Blackstaff Investigations, Christopher strives to bring light to the darkness that he sees is covering the city. Even if it’s only one case at a time. Power Descriptions: Christopher’s mother taught him a form of ever evolving hermetic magic that she learned and added to from her own parents. He learned how to channel elemental forces, and how to use magic to affect the world around him, locate lost thing, and even call on other worldly beings. He was taught to use words to shape the desired effects, and to protect his mind from the raw forces he channeled. Creating a personalized language so as to keep the dangerous forces from burning through him and causing harm. He learned how to use hand motions to further focus his power. His mother taught him how to create rituals to perform a wider repertoire of spells and how to create personal foci to aid him in streamlining his magic use. Knowing he still has more to learn, Christopher relies on several foci he made himself to create some specific effects. Hopefully, with time and practice he’ll learn to create the same effects without the needed aids. Complications: Cat’s Eye View: During a missing child case Backstaff lost his left eye to a Cait Sidhe (cat-sith), faerie cat. He successfully returned the child and as ‘reward’ a swamp hag replaced his lost eye with that of the Cait Sidhe that took his original one. While the full repercussions of this have yet to be seen, it has granted him access to the ‘Olde Roads’ to travel on. It also means he does now carry the scent of the fae or can be identified as ‘fae-touched’. Hot and Cold Water: Blackstaff has a curse he has been unable to remove from himself, and a recent magical accident seems to have reactivated it. As of now, a powerful magical surge has a chance to change Blackstaff’s physical form, turning him into a younger female form. This form can easily be mistaken for a younger sister to his original physical form. Changing back on his own requires a long ritual. The Rules of Magic: Drilled into his head from the very start by his mother, Christopher follows 7 rules of magic. Unfortunately, he has found himself unable to avoid breaking them himself. These times often leave his confidence shaken and on severe occasions have led to him unable to call on his magic for a time. (Yes, it is possible to trick him into thinking he has broken one of the rules) 1 – Thou Shalt Not Kill (This forbids the killing of non-primal planar, sentient beings with magic) 2 – Thou Shalt Not Transform Others (This forbids the shapeshifting of unwilling non-primal planar, sentient beings with magic) 3 – Thou Shalt Not Invade the Mind of Another (This forbids the metal invasion of unwilling non-primal planar, sentient beings with magic) 4 – Thou Shalt Not Enthrall Another (This forbids the binding or domination of non-primal planar, sentient beings with magic) 5 – Thou Shalt Not Reach Beyond the Borders of Life (This forbids the summoning, binding, and exploitation of the unwilling dead) 6 – Thou Shalt Not Swim Against the Currents of Time (This forbids the use of time travel to alter the timeline) 7 – Thou Shalt Not Open the Outer Gates (This forbids the summoning or contacting of creatures or entities from beyond the Cosmic Coil) Shadowed Soul: A yet unidentified shadowy person or entity has taken an interest in Christopher since he was a child and on occasion has attempted to ‘nudge’ him into actions. Because of its early interest in him, this entity already has some influence it is able to call upon. Sometimes, when it could be detrimental or prove to be a long-term problem for Christopher, the entity can mentally influence his senses. Its plans are unknown to Christopher, but he doesn’t believe it’s trying to kill him. But he does believe it is trying to turn him towards a path of darkness. (This usually manifests as mental illusions that only Christopher is subject to.) Sweating Magic: Magic is raw, untamed power that more and more intricate technology just can’t stand up to. Sometimes, under stressful conditions Christopher radiates enough magic to disrupt or out right shut down nearby technology. 11. Seraphim Kadene had an easy 8 inches height on her which gave her a longer stride, and the pace Sarah had to nearly jog at to keep up with the motivated girl made it feel like twice what it should. She nearly thought she may have to stop and catch her breath before they reached the castle. She was thankful when the pirate lass finally seemed to stop for a moment. Sarah glanced around the square as she took several deep breaths. Perhaps she needed more time exercising, the coach would agree she feared. “I think doing that without their consent would be rather rude, and possibly illegal.” She offered. She wasn’t sure what to make of the energetic Mattie or the stoic Lynn, like with Iris, staying on a different floor and being on a different squad Sarah hadn’t interacted with either of them much more then in passing. Sarah thought she remembered they were actually roommates and she wondered just how the two got along with such contrasting personalities. She’d seen the boy around campus too, but again another squad and, well, different dormitory altogether. Sarah spotted Renee and at least recognized her from the student assessment. She gave her a small wave. “Hey, enjoying the faire?” She asked.
  12. Seraphim Sarah returned Carmen’s nod and smiled at Iris. When Iris abruptly started to walk away, she looked between Carmen and Kadene unsurely. The pirate lass seemed unwilling to play second fiddle and boldly caught up, and passed the other girl before energetically turning to beacon them on. “Well,” Sarah half chuckled. “I guess we know who the extrovert is.” She glanced sideways at Carmen. The upperclassmen was still quite intimidating, and Sarah quickly followed after the others.

  15. GM The museum director had thanked Eira again for all her hard work, ecstatic over how much the children were going to enjoy the new exhibit. He had been more than happy to accept any input she had had on improving the museum before having to leave her to attend to other pressing matters. Out front of the Children’s Museum people continued to pass the gathering heroes. The flow of foot traffic was a comfortable buzz in the air that gave small groups the sense of being their own island of calm in a sea of noise. As introductions were made, and Vik was getting used to the idea that there were more people in the city that were both alive and not alive in ways different from herself, something else dingged on her Life Sense. A single figure, but with two separate life signs, one within the other. And then it was gone. Lost to the crowded walkways.
  16. GM Pascal nodded. “I mean, we wouldn’t say no to an escort.” He admitted. “Just didn’t seem right to ask after everything you guys have already done.” He gave the trio a thankful smile, though it was starting to look a little strained. The man was definitely trying to ‘tough it out’ through the pain of his broken arm. “We really do appreciate everything you all do for the... city...” Ramesy’s voice trailed off at the end as her gaze wandered past the heroes to the half-melted pile of goo remained. Something furry was digging in the goo. Tabby gray and shaped like a cat, it was more the size of a medium dog. It’s back to them as it dug in the disgusting smelling pile. After a moment it sat back up and wiped at its face with a paw and sighed. “A total loss. So many samples lost. The master will be displeased.” It said without looking back at the group. Nightscale felt something vaguely familiar about the creature, and when it finally turned its head to look back at them, it clicked. The dog-sized cat-thing didn’t have a cat's face, nor a dog’s for that matter. No, instead the fall of a child was inset in the furry head. Its eyes were cat-like and when it grinned at them, a mouth of needle-like teeth greeted them. The last time Nightscale had seen this thing, it was carrying the severed head of the one they had called Creepshow as it ran from the underground lab they had fought him, and the woman lying unconscious on the ground beside him, in. “But perhaps some of you would be willing to donate to the master’s experiments?” It asked in a voice that was far too normal to be coming from such a creature. Its request sounded almost reasonable with its unwavering delivery and unflinching gaze.

  20. Predator Predator was quiet again for a moment. She wondered briefly if there was anything salvageable of the alien machine. If the loss of power meant a complete loss of data, or simply a loss of active function, with the hard written data still safely locked away in program files. One could never be sure with extra-terrestrial machines, they could be tricky like that. She supposed that at the moment, the most important thing was that the local populace was safe. If she requested to, maybe AEGIS would allow her to help study the remains. “Affirmative. Uploading geolocation for site security. Agent Echohead and I should return to town for on-site confirmation and begin assisting with security and clean-up efforts.” She glanced over at Echo and nodded. Predator turned and started towards the exit as she spoke. “While your affirmations are appreciated, I did not do this alone. Your contributions also ensured our success. Though ‘win’ might not be the most appropriate word, we were able to prevent further loss of life.” She paused and tilted her head. “No, I take that back. An old friend of mine told me many times that I ‘shouldn’t sell my victories short’.” She reached up and removed her helmet. Shaking out her shoulder length dirty blonde hair and wiggling her Fox ears to stretch. She looked back at Echo again and she gave him a smile, though it was a little sad. “Lives were lost. But yes, yes we won this time.”
  21. Predator Predator made a noncommittal noise at the suggested pun, they weren’t her strong suit when it came to humor but she had heard better from old friends. “While I prefer to remain independent, if WEST has need, I will do what I can to help.” She offered. She did turn her attention from the monitors and regarded North, then the clone vats. “If the volatile chemicals could be removed, I can’t see any reason not to grant them asylum.” Predator admitted. “They have made no conscious decision in regards to the purpose they were conceived for. They shouldn’t be penalized for their creator’s poor choices.” She crossed her arms. “If they truly are blank slates, they may eventually be able to be taught to enter society as productive members of the populous.” She paused a moment “But, that is merely my own opinion.” Predator turned back to the screens. “I assume as potential bio-weapons, some agencies or another will want to take them into custody, for research and study. My only hope is that it is an agency with better intentions than to further our departed scientist's designs.” The armored helmet glanced back at Dr North. And while simply a smooth reflective surface, the doctor could probably feel Jean’s gaze scrutinizing him.
  22. Seraphim Seraphim watched as the others began to react. The blue skinned Grue literally grew and clobbered one of the gunmen easily. It was an impressive sight to see. Spore’s cloud seemed to incapacitate most of the rest and King Cole looked like she was going to finish the job when she was stopped cold. Two more men exited the bank and the hair on Seraphim’s neck stood on end. These two weren’t ordinary men. Even as mere projections of the past, she could almost feel the malice from them and it sent a tiny shiver down her back. She choked on a scream when the larger man suddenly slammed Cole into the gunman with ground shattering force and tossed her across the way. Seraphim watched in horror as the other girl’s body slammed into a car and didn’t move. Without thinking she closed the distance to Cole’s side. Her hands were already glowing and King Cole’s body was awash in a warm white light, Seraphim’s only thought was the girl’s well-being. She completely missed Jack’s awe inspiring transformation.
  23. Actually if Healing is a full round, she'd need to surge to move to Cole, then use her full round to Heal. Gonna need to shorten that to a Standard action when I can.
  24. Then, she'll hold on to her HP and just stay by King Cole's side for now.
  25. Can I HP and heal again?
