  1. If possible, Chimera will try to quickly tend to Beanpole. Medicine check: 29
  2. Chimera Crap! When had gunfire broken out? She had been so distracted by the dragon she hadn’t noticed the sounds of shooting and screaming. Why was she so bad at this. Chimera hesitated midair for a moment. “What? He never mentioned…“ She shook her head. She’d have to confront Blowfish about that later. “Why would you think I’m a shapeshifter-“ Suddenly a thick purple cloud of gas erupted to obscure the deck. She cursed under her breath as she tried to judge what to do. She was only half listening as Luke rose up higher and unleaded a thunderous roar. A shiver ran up her spine but she shrugged it off. Below though, as the mist slowly began to clear around the edges she could see people beginning to run and panic. Nearly everyone was trying to abandon ship, except for a few she dismissed at the moment. Chimera still wasn’t sure what to make of the flying mythical reptile. Added to the gun fire and tank of explosives the lost of concerns was growing far quicker then she cared for. It was then that she saw something that immediately took too priority on said list. A tall, lanky figure laying half curled on the deck. A small pool of red spreading out from him. “Shit” Chimera dove. She twisted in midair on some instinct, the wings and tail shrinking and vanishing back into the symbiote, leaving her to drop like a rock onto the deck with an echoing clang. She ran towards the groaning figure. It wasn’t until she reached him that she realized who it was. “Oh Gods! Beanpole!”

  4. The mental image of SD hopping around yelling “Look at me!” screams auto-success. @Nerdzul so which scent are you going to follow?
  5. Leon eyed Erik across the roof of the car for a moment, before cracking a grin and chuckling. “Ya it is, but if someone your age starts using it unironicly we’ll have to call an emergency teen council to change it.” He teased to see how Erik would react. It was his way of gauging the older man. Leon happily returned Neko’s infectious smile. “Anything for my hime-chan.” Leon opened the back door as Neko settled back into her seat. He slid in beside her, slipping an arm around her shoulders. “I’m sure I will, you have excellent taste.” He agreed, still smiling. Leon had to resist the urge to pull her into his lap and kiss her properly. Instead he leaned in and gave her a small lingering kiss on the cheek. Neko wasn’t the only one who’d change since arriving at Claremont. He had grown at least an inch or two over the last three years. He’d also put on a little more muscle using the school’s gym. It was nothing compared to his roommate, but Leon would swear the dragon-boy had an unfair advantage. All in all, Leon was happy to cuddle up to his girlfriend and looked forward to having lunch with. He chuckled and joked. “So, if lunch goes well, should I expect invites to family dinner?”
  6. Predator The EMP device was small, but it had done its job. As Predator examined it briefly she wondered if it had truly been meant to disrupt the presentation, or if whoever built it knew that the presenter themself was going to be a machine. The strength of the pulse had been strong enough to trigger some kind of catastrophic failure in the Cardenas stand-in, but a focused field that it didn’t disrupt anything beyond the stage. The tech was newer than the robotic remains, but that didn’t give much more to work with at the moment. Predator stepped aside to allow Eira room to work. She watched with interest as the girl rolled up her sleeves and initiated her inspection of the remains. The reactions of the remains didn’t bother her, she was focused on what Eira was doing. “Designers often tend to unconsciously follow what they consider anatomical norms.” She commented off-handedly as she watched. It was rude, but she really wanted to examine Eira herself. Predator compartmentalized those thoughts though as they were counter productive to the investigation at hand. When the construct’s eyes snapped open to stare at her, Predator crouched down. When she spoke she maintained eye contact, searching for any reactions or recognition. “Can we question him?” She asked Eira.
  7. Leon took calming breaths, watching traffic pass. Maybe he should get a car. But that would mean getting a license. And insurance. And car payments. And that would require an actual steady job, not the odd job he did here and there… Geez, was he seriously thinking about getting a job? What had happened to him. To the carefree kid doing whatever he wanted, sticking it to the man? An unknown car slowed and stopped in front of the building and Leon tensed instinctively. But when he spotted the familiar smiling face of Neko through the rear window everything else was shoved aside and he knew he was grinning like a fool. Walking over to the car he smiled warmly at his girlfriend and leaned down. “Hey pretty lady, going my way?” He teased. “Treat me right and I’ll show you a good time. Might even let you hold my hand…” He grinned, but he suddenly thought he was forgetting something. It was about then he felt the attention of someone else and this attention shifted to the front of the car. “And absolutely nothing else.” He quickly added, his grin vanishing as he cleared his throat. “Afternoon, Mr Espadas.” He said trying to pretend he was just flirting shamelessly with the man’s foster daughter right in front of him. Oh geez, Leon mentally facepalmed. This was probably not the best first impression he could have made.
  8. Chimera Her electricity crackled over the black scales under her seemingly harmlessly and Chimera cursed under her breath. One of these days that would work. She didn’t have time to worry about it right now as she tried to hold on. The dragon pulled a loop-de-loop and she was glad she hadn’t eaten at Blowfish’s invite. She scrambled to find a hand hold, grabbing the base of one of its wings just long enough to kinda swing aside. The massive wing buffeted her as she did and Chimera tumbled in the air for a moment. The silver-grey wings snapped open as she tried to right herself. Her long slender tail with small diamond shaped fin at the tip uncurled helping her stabilize midair. Her head rang a little as she fought to bring herself up level with the dragon, but she caught a few words it said. Gangsters. Bombs. ‘Oh my god. It’s a trap!’ She thought. “Max is playing to blow up the ship with Blowfish’s men on board?” “I don’t have time for this.” Chimera declared. “I need to warn them.” She turned and dove for the boat below. Her slender tail wavering behind her… Wait… when did she grow a tail?
  9. @Nerdzul the Skill Mastery 20 should be enough to get you heading in the right direction .
  10. Leon paced the sidewalk outside the apartment building where he shared a little two-bedroom with his best friend, Luke Landers. The neighborhood wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. It was one of those refinished buildings from the 60’s that straddled the border between Southside and the Boardwalk. The exterior had been cleaned up, the old architecture on full display and looking well cared for. Just ignore the bars on the lower windows. Of course, the only reason they were able to get it was because Luke’s parents had co-signed for the boys. “Hello Mr Espadas.” “Good afternoon Mr Espadas.” “Hey Mr E!” Leon groaned into his hands. What was wrong with him? Why was he nervous? He’d been running around like a damned fool, playing hero for, what? 3 years now. And before that he was a thief with a significant record. Of course that was sealed now that he was a legal adult. He’s faced villains, monsters, dimensional travel… Hell the only thing he hadn’t done was actually go out into space. Of course, that was only because Coach Razorback had him cleaning the trophy hall after a particularly messy prank in his Junior year when that field trip came around. Leon shook his head. Now wasn’t the time for that. He had to focus on this. He really wanted to make a good impression. Neko had made the arrangements at one of those quaint little cafes in the West End. He hadn’t actually been in those neighborhoods much, maybe a few times in passing before he ended up in Claremont, but really since that he could recall. He hated to admit it to himself, but he was afraid of making a bad impression with her folks and they would convince her he wasn’t good enough for her. And the thought turned his stomach. He glanced at his reflection and second guessed his attire. Leon had seriously considered using paper for his shirt like he usually did, but Luke had talked him out of it. He straightened up and brushed off his slim fit buttoned shirt. It was half black and half black & red. It was a new shirt that he had legally purchased, along with the new jeans and sneakers. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself before they arrived.
  11. @Nerdzul the desire for flesh and the desire for blood are two separate ‘scents’
  12. Predator Predator gave Eira a nod. “Hello Miss Katastroff. I am aware of your reputation as well.” The smooth face of the visor lifts, opening on servos on the sides of the helmet to show her vulpine face behind a clear transparent screen. “Perhaps later we can speak more casually. But first official business.” She nods again as she turns and indicates the covered remains. Predator covers the events of the evening from just before ‘Mr. Cardenas’ arrives, up to the incident. Walking over she crouches beside the coving and lifts it. “I didn’t have long to examine it, but I’m confident it is of Terran origin, just not the exact creator. I am more than happy to have the second opinion of a specialist.” She looks to Eira. “A suspect in questioning at the moment confessed to a device in the podium possibly responsible for this.” Predator looks at the podium and stands. “I was just about to confirm this.”
  13. Not sure the Captain can pull off something to help. Figured this would give him a chance while Blackstaff preps for a quick casting.
  14. Blackstaff Winds carried the mage up and out over the dark flue sea in the wake of the leviathan. His will pushed him forward to catch up with agent Blaze. All the wiggle his mind raced in search of something to do to stop the watery behemoth. Blackstaff started to answer when another man joined them in the air at the same time as him. He gritted his teeth hoping the newcomer was friendly. “Belongs to the locals.” He answers while pointing down at the water. He points at her, then himself. “Blaze. Blackstaff. Doesn’t look like they want it up here any more then we do. Doubt we can’t stop it in time, but maybe we can persuade it to change course.” He says quickly. “We need a big underwater sound blast.” The winds pick up and drive Blackstaff towards the Shadowcaster as his mind races, trying to piece together a proper spell.

  16. Chimera The dragon rumble some kind of denial and puffed out flames as a threat. Normally Chimera might have taken some heed of it but even as it threatened her the creature’s attention swung back to the boat, like it was dismissing her. Chimera was so tired of people (and mythical creatures?) treating her like a joke. She wasn’t much of a hero. She accepted that, but the fact that the only one that seemed to give her any respect was a local mob boss was more than just a little annoying. “Don’t ignore me.” She growled angrily. Her wings folded in and she dropped towards the dragon. She landed on its scaly back and fell to all-fours. With a grunt of effort electricity erupted from her hands and crackled across black scales. OOC: with Luke 2 PL over her I can’t imagine this being too bad for him.
  17. GM All Pascal and Ramsey both nodded as Diamondlight and Nightscale affirmed their desire to help. Who were they to turn down more superhero help. “If you both vouch for the kid,who am I to argue.” Pascal put up his hands in mock surrender. “We’re at the end of our rope here.” He admitted. “I suggested to the Chief, we should call that Wizard for hire.” Ramsey said managing a rueful chuckle. “My cousin working in Emerald City said one there helped find a couple missing kids.” Pascal just shook his head. “And he damn near laughed you out of his office.” Ramsey crossed her arms and glanced at the man. “And if he suddenly showed up here and offered to help, would you tell him ‘no thanks’?” Pascal sighed. “Course no-“ He stopped as Diamondlight held out the cigar. He stared at it for a moment his finger twitching before throwing the unlit cigarette aside and taking the lit cigar. “Don’t gimme that look.” He grumbled as he took a slow draw from it, paused and exhaled with only a slight cough. Ramsey was leveling a glare at Pascal then Diamondlight, giving the hero a snort of disappointment. Ramsey grimaced at the mention it possibly hiding in time or space. “You’re kidding right.” She gave her partner a concerned look, but he could only shrug. When Sea Devil suggests Luke could ‘get big’ both detectives give him a quick second look, then look back at the armored deep one. Ramsey watched Pascal as he took another pull from the cigar thoughtfully. Finally the detective turned and walked over to Officer Carter, the uniform that Pascal had told to let the men pass. A quick word and the officer hands the detective his radio. “This is Detective Pascal, all officers withdraw from the search area. Hold the line and keep civilians out. Supers will be active in the area. Stay out of their way, but be ready to act if needed.” Handing the radio back to Officer Carter he turns back to the heroes. “Let’s find this son-of-a-b*tch. Find ‘em and stop ‘em.” Pascal pulls his sidearm and checks it. “Ramsey, fall back with the othe-“ “Like hell.” She interrupted, drawing her own weapon and checking it. The two glare at each other for a moment before Pascal just turns to the heroes, obviously relenting to to partner. “So, what now?” He asks.
  18. Leon rasied his hands defensively. “Okay, okay. I may have not helped. But in my defense…” He paused. “I got nothing.” Leon shrugged. “Gentleman, and I use the term loosely, do we really want to make dear sweet Lacey‘s job harder?” Leon suddenly got a brilliant idea (at least in his opinion) and grinned. “Tell you what.” Luke could recognize Leon’s mischievous tone. “How about we wrestle for it? Or, rather, arm wrestle?” He paused for effect. “Any one of you beats my friend here and you get a free shot at me. I’ve been told I have a very punchable face by many men… and a few women.” He smirked. “I’ve also been told I have a very kissable face by many women… and few men.” He shrugged. “I suppose if you win I can let you choose.” He flashed a familiar Cheshire grin.
  19. Chimera “Guarding?” Chimera sound a little taken aback at first. “Wait a second, did Max summon you?” She shook her head. “I’m not here to blow anything up.” The silver-gray winged heroine said firmly, misunderstanding Nightscale. “But if you’re another one of his creations I won’t hesitate to put you down.” The electricity crackles, arching between her hands as Chimera rose up, twisted in the air and dove for the night black dragon.
  20. Predator The woman didn’t seem to be anything other than a normal human. Not for the first time Predator was upset that the sensors she used in her home dimension to pick out non-normal citizens just weren’t working here. She dismissed the thought and simply made a reminder to spend more time on adjusting them later. She agreed with Echohead’s speculations on captives often attempting to lull their captors into underestimating them to gain an advantage later. Though his follow through left something to be desired. Predator supposed it was a result of the skills he was deploying being ‘borrowed’. But ultimately she could not deny whatever he was doing seemed to be working. The red headed woman began to talk. Predator turned to the closest Talon agent. “Stay here and provide any assistance he needs.” She said and looked over her shoulder at Echohead. “I verify her claim and contact you.” Predator walked quickly back towards the event hall.
  21. @Nerdzul When it comes to valuables, Diamondlight pings Luke’s senses of course. Sea Devil’s armor could be considered valuable as well. Here and there amongst the officers he can sense a few valuables, but nothing out of the ordinary. Further out, the same could be said for the handful of civilians within range. As for greatest desires, it’s less productive. Luke can smell strong desire around him (everyone has one, even if they don’t realize it ). He does catch a hint of something on the fringes of the crowds. Two somethings actually, they’re different somethings is for blood the other for flesh. @Supercape Diamondlight can’t think of much beyond the basics of some killers trying to hide bodies in the lake. @Avenger Assembled Pretty sure if Sea Devil ate the killer most of the force wouldn’t see anything.
  22. I figure Chimera hasn’t actually seen who was on the boat yet.
  23. Chimera If she had to be completely honest with herself, Chimera had no idea what she was going to do against the giant flying lizard. Dragon? And did… did it just talk? Because, of course it did. Well, she had its attention now. Time to do something. She wasn’t the most graceful flyer, but she wasn’t just a brick with wings thankfully. Chimera swung wide to try to keep herself clear of the larger creature. It roared and Chimera was wondering if she was biting off more the man she could handle. Looking like it might actually be able to breath fire or something she hoped her being a smaller target would work to her advantage. “Okay… you-“ Smooth. “I don’t know what you’re looking for, but I’m not going to let you terrorize these docks.” Electricity crackled around her fists. “Back off.”
  24. GM Sea Devil The critters in the water were agitated. Something from above came below to wait. It didn’t take the hunter from the deep to find toe results. Near the lake edge, Detective Pascal waited. He fidgeted with the unlit cigarette and the small clicker in his other hand. He nearly dropped it when Sea Devil finally broke the surface again. He looked in the direction she called out to, see the ones she waved at. Diamondlight & Nightscale Officer Haynes had reluctantly allowed Luke to follow August past the police tape when they seem to mutually know each other. The two chatted as they wanted without being stopped, proving the old theory that if you act like you belong people tend to except it. It wasn’t until August called out to Sea Devil that someone took notice of them and approached. “Excuse me.” The uniformed officer addressed them. “This is a active investigation, I’m going to have to ask you to-“ The officer was interrupted. “Let them through.” He looked back towards the detective Sea Devil had been speaking to. “Sir?” “It’s okay Carter, I’ll take responsibility for them.” He assured the officer and the uniformed Officer Carter nodded, stepping aside to let them pass. The detective waves them over and offers his hand to August. “Mr Zoss, Detective Pascal.” He introduces himself with a small nod, then looks Luke over briefly. He clicks the small device in his hand and looks back at August. “I would ask what you’re doing here, but I think I can make a guess. I assume this is a professional call?” From the way he asked it’s easy to assume he was aware of August’s alternate identity. He nodded towards Luke. “And the kid’s with you I take it.” He seemed to accept it and turned his attention Back to Sea Devil as she pulled the remains of her discovery on to shore. All Pascal cursed and threw the unlit cigarette on the ground before turning on one of the uniformed officer now gawking at the body. “Carter, call the morgue. Get someone out here pronto.” He commanded then whirled on another officer. “Get something to cover this, now!” The two officers hastes off and Detective Pascal turned back to the body. He crouched beside it, pulling a pen from his pocket he poked the remains of the clothing still clinging to the corpse. “Ramse-“ He started to call, but another plainclothes detective had already appeared. She looking a little younger than him and was holding out a pair of latex gloves to him. “Oh, thanks.” He took them and tilted the body, obviously looking for a wallet or some such. “Making friends without me.” She teased him. “Sure, we’ll go with that.” He grunted in frustration. The woman nodded to Sea Devil and August. “Detective Ramsey. I’m his partner.” She eyed Luke a lot like how Pascal had. “The kid?” She asked over her shoulder. “He’s with Mr Zoss.” Pascal grunted again as he continued to search the body. “Zoss? The Mr Zoss?” Ramsey asked and looked back at August. “No offense but, wait… Diamondlight? Are you telling me that millionaire, playboy, philanthropist August Zoss is a cape now? Obviously she was with officer Haynes I’m not knowing his alternate identity. “He’s been a cape.” Pascal countered casually and stood up. “No ID I can find. We’ll have to wait for the corner to get us some details.” Ramsey shook his head and looked at Sea Devil. “You said something’s hunted round here. Is it still around?” He asked cautiously as he pull out another cigarette. “I picked the wrong week to quit smoking.” He muttered as he left the cigarette unlit and fidgeted with his clicker.
  25. With a crit I’ll say SD also finds traces of something using the lake. She wouldn’t say it’s ‘living’ in the lake, but something it lurking in it for lengths of time. Like a hunting blind. She can estimate it to be slightly larger then an average human.
