GM Flashing lights were visible and approaching quickly. Multiple sirens announced them like heralds. Within moments police and emergency responders would be crawling all over the place. On the far side of the parking lot a large group of people were gathered. A large number obviously from the office party, the rest, passersby’s attracted to the noise. None had payed attention to the ordinary looking birds that had fled the ruckus above or the cat girl that preceded them. Another cry of primal rage echoed from above, followed by the faint sound of crashing, drawing gasps from the crowd. Two of the crows circled, coming in to land on the asphalt of the parking lot. The teens standing in the place a moment later. The young man shivered involuntarily. “Okay, do not want to do that again.” Nearby, a rather portly crow landed on a landscaping barrier. The older man from the offices stumbled and fell onto all four, wide eyed and panting. “What was… that? I… will have you all held responsible… for this.” He demanded as he sat back and looked up at the gathered teens. Circle rolled her eyes and looked back at Satchel. “We need go, like now. Before the pros show up.” The young man nodded. As if on cue, a digitized female voice cut through the night. “Actually, when properly designed and constructed they can be wear comfortably for quite some time.” From the other side of the parking lot the onlookers pointed and murmured louder. Some were holding up camera phones to record the armored figure that landed beside the group. A metallic tail swayed as long ear-like features seemed to adjust themselves. The smooth faceplate had a single lens offset to one side. It’s smooth, polished surface turned, seeming to look at each teenager. It lingered on the Circle and Satchel perhaps a bit too long. “None of you are injured are you?” The figure asked as another crash drifted down from above and the she tilted her head up to look. “You there! I’ve seen you on the news!” The older man yelled, pushing past Luke. “I demand you take these delinquents into custody!” He yelled, his finger sweeping around to point at the two new teens. The armored helmet tilted back down to regard the man. There was a pause before the figure spoke. “Sir, your pulse is elevated, your breathing is labored and you’re sweating excessively. I have alerted the first responders that will be arriving shortly.” The figure turned away from the man dismissively to address the group. “I can’t imagine a group of teenagers would have been involved in this incident I would suggest you move along, if there are no injuries. Other heroes in the area are already rounding up suspicious individuals.” The older man looked ready burst. “Do you have any idea who I am? Who I know?” The polished helmet snapped around to him, the ear-like features on the sides swiveling back in an almost predatory fashion silencing the man without a word.

Leon sat with Luke And Carmen as they ate a quick lunch. The Korean barbecue he was eating was good. Never underestimate a decent food truck. He was replaying the brief greetings they had exchanged with Eira. He had only known them for a short time before they graduated and Tinkerbot wasn’t the easiest to read back then. Pan had been a strong influence on the younger Leon. He’d listened and helped push him towards giving the school a real chance. He respected him for that, and Eira had seemed cool enough. But, something was… off. He blow out a breath and took another bite. He focused on what she had said. This was going to be another romp to another world. Hopefully this went better than the bees. He glanced at Luke, the big kid was working on his second helping. Leon would be jealous if he didn’t know how quickly his friend would burn through it and be hungry again. He looked over at Carmen. “Have you been to another world before?” He asked, wiring and nodding at her reply. “Well, hopefully this goes smoothly.” Leon finished his lunch and stood. He gave his roommate and Carmen matching grins. “Tin-man. Lion. Come on, let’s go meet the Wizard.” Back in the lab Leon caught sight of the circular setup against the wall and eyed it curiously before echoing Luke. “Good to go.” He affirmed looking back at Eira. She directed them to their traveling clothes and Leon looked them over. “Cozy.” He chuckled as he slipped them on. He turned back to Eira and waited.

GM Circle and Satchel looked at Paper as Owain began chanting. Their brother could only give them a small shrug. As if to tell them ‘it’s his thing’. They gave him matching skeptical looks. Paper glanced at Neko as she called back to them. He watched as the cat girl ran towards the shattered window. His head snapped to Owain then back at Neko with a little concern. When she leaped from the opening Paper ran over, with Satchel close behind. They watched as the the furry figure moved easily down the ledges. “Well that’s not something you see everyday.” Satchel commented. “No it’s not.” Paper replied watching a moment longer. He looked up at his brother who gave him a raised eyebrow. “What?” “Nothing.” Satchel smirked and turned back to the others and Circle shook her head. “Boys.” She started to say something else when the magic Owain was gathering, snapped into place and settled over everyone. The change was swift but painless. The world around them grew as they felt the lightness of their new forms. Bird-Circle and Bird-Satchel fluttered in surprise, while Bird-Paper seemed to take it better. By the window the two brothers watched Bird-Owain fly out the window. Bird-Circle hopped closer to the brothers when the room shook with the force of something massive slamming into the makeshift wall. Cracks spiderwebbed across the wood and coral as ceiling dust drifted down. Bird-Older Man squawked in fear and flutter his wings before taking flight and flying out of the building. The trio of Bird-Teens quickly followed after their school friend.

Leon had seen the flyer in the school’s library and taken it to show Luke. After a little back and forth they had decided it would fun to check in on an old friend and get paid for it. What could go wrong? Carmen had come with them, Leon guessed she had seen the flyer before he had taken it down to show Luke. It was cool, even if she didn’t seem to get along well with his girlfriend, she was still cool to hang with. Leon now sat with the others, across from Eira in the rather plain office. “Sup. How’s your boy-toy?” He returned her greeting with a raised eyebrow and a grin. “As long as I’m back in time for my dinner date tomorrow.” “Good question.” He gave Carmen a nod. When Eira mention an alternate plane Leon had to resist a ‘Not the bees!’ joke after his last trip to an alternate world. “Please tell me the cafeteria here is better than the school’s.” Truth was the cafeteria food wasn’t that bad on campus, but it just hadn’t been the same since that time Queenie came around.

Leon blinked a little sleepily as Rosiland talked. He yawned again and stretched. He gave a small smirk and nudged Luke. “This was your idea, you go first.” He teased his friend. “Then, I can show you how it’s done.” He grinned. “After all, as a professional liar, I’m a natural actor… or politician.” He chuckled, but he hadn’t expected an impromptu audition. He was actually sorting around in his mind for something he could use. Leon glanced sideways at Jonah. Of course he had something prep ‘just in case’. He still hadn’t figured out what hair the kid had up his butt for him. He dismissed it and turned his attention back to Rosiland.

GM The two teens looked only a little uncomfortable as more of the teenage heroes regrouped around them. They looked to Paper, who could only give a small shrug. The red-haired girl gave a shake of her head and regarded Shooting Star. “I don’t think that’s gonna be fast enough.” She said grimly as the wall beside them shook from a heavy impact. The boy eyed the coral and wood wall even as it seemed to continue to reinforce itself. “I don’t think I have anything useful in reserves. I like the idea of getting out of here. Leave this to the pros like he suggests.” The boy said thumbing at Artificer. “Well at least someone else thinks we should fight back.” The red- head countered waving a hand at Shooting Star. Paper rolled his eyes and stepped up between the two. “Her first suggestion was to run, Circle.” He said to his sister, using her alias, before turning to his brother, using his. “And the pros might not get here in time, Satchel.” Circle opened her mouth but she quickly closed it as all three looked towards the window. Sirens were closing in on the building. Police and first responders would be there soon. The three exchanged a wordless look even as Owain joined them, now in his human form. The older man was not far behind. He stopped short and pointed an accusatory finger at the two that had been hiding in his office. “What were you doing in there?” He demanded before taking a better look at the gathered youths. “Why, you’re just… just bunch of children.” The red-haired Circle bristled. “Listen here you old f-“ Both Paper and Satchel cut her off. “Time and place.” “Time and place.” They said in unison. The look she flashed them gave the impression this was a something between the three. The exchange was so brief, Owain was just turning his attention away from Neko and Luke’s confrontation. As he began to chant Paper piped up. “Wait! What about Nightscale and Neko?”

Leon knew how to take a hint. He happily scritched Neko behind her ears. That purr of her voice could be a dangerous weapon when she wanted it to be, but it could also be the most soothing sound in the world. He nuzzled back and smiled. “If you’re ready.” When the two rejoined the others he settled in next to Neko. “Hope we didn’t miss anything fun.” He flashed a grin.

Leon’s eyes searched his girlfriend’s face as she reassured him. Her eyes were clear and her cheeks were dry as she did so. Neko excused herself and stood. He watched as she disappeared among the rail cars, his eye glanced down at his shoulder then back up at the night outside. The glass bottle rattled against the concrete again as Leon stood. He patted Luke’s shoulder as he passed him, the excited boy choosing his victim. They’d have to do this again he thought absently, just needed a few more bodies next time. City-silence weighed outside and Leon’s eyes adjusted as best they could to the pale night. He couldn’t see or hear Neko, she was too good for that. But he had other ways. With her head start Neko was already lost in thought as Leon found the car she was sitting on. He wasn’t as quiet or graceful as his girlfriend, but he easily climbed up on to it. He paused to watch her in the moonlight, then smiled. He quietly moved to join her and without a word he sat beside her. He let the silence linger as he looked up at the moon with her, hoping his being there was the show of support he intended. After a moment he moved to put an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close if she lets him and leaning his head against hers.

Leon nodded along with the beat as Carmen sang. She looked uncomfortable despite not sounding all that bad and for a moment he thought of cutting it off after the first verse. But he thought he knew her well enough to know she might get mad at him for ‘taking it easy on her’, so he let it play out the two and a half minutes. He clapped and gave a whistle when Carmen finished. Grinning, he saluted her with his half empty bottle and agreed with Neko. “Okay, not bad, you won that round.” He took a swig from the bottle before his girlfriend stood up a bit awkwardly. He crooked a smile up at her. As Neko sang he swayed with the ghostly choir. She was so good with her illusion. He couldn’t follow what she was actually saying but it was haunting in its own way. He smiled in that silly way a young man does when watching a pretty young girl. When the instruments faded and she sagged against him he smiled down at her. Her sudden crying though blindsided him. His arms slipped around her even as he frowned. “Shh, shh, shh… my hime.” He tried to comfort Neko. Lowering his head, he gently pressed his lips to the top of her head as he stroked her hair.

Leon continued to grin as Carmen resigned herself to a spot of spontaneous karaoke. “That’s the spirit.” In a flash, he had a top 10 streaming radio locked and loaded on his phone. “Showtime.” He hit the play button and the app’s algorithm plucked a song from its data base. Music sprang from the wireless speaker he had set up when they first arrived. Whistling accompanied the opening beats as Onerepublic’s I Ain’t Worried started playing.

Leon gave Neko’s hand a squeeze as Bernadette reached out and spun the bottle. The sound of the glass against the dirty floor echoing lightly. As the bottle slowed, the narrow neck drifted around to settle in Leon’s direction. The young man gave a grin and glanced around at the others. Neko and Carmen were the only ones that hadn’t been given the choice yet, but he didn’t feel it was right to call on his girlfriend just yet. He wanted to give her a minute. “Alrighty. Hey Carmen, truth or dare?” Truth Dare

Leon was curious of Bernadette’s answer and chuckled when she mentioned Charlie. He took another sip as she went on to mention Owain and glanced at Neko. When his girlfriend mentioned her suspicions of Owain he paused and thought back. He couldn’t remember the other boy ever talking about ,well , anyone romantically. He gave little shrug and set his bottle down. “It’s cool, you can count on us to be be there.” His sister was a lesbian, but he didn’t feel the need to bring it up. “Whatever he figures out, he’ll have support. And if any gives him trouble, we’ll…” He gives Neko a mischievous grin as he waited for Bernadette to spin the bottle.

ORIGAMI BY THEV Paper Power Level: 12, but built as 10 (187/195PP) Unspent Power Points: 8PP Trade-Offs: None In Brief: Reformed juvenile criminal with the power to control and shape paper, still has a slight authority problem Catchphrase: None Theme: ‘The Anthem’ by Good Charlotte Alternate Identity: Leon Moore (Secret) Birthplace: Seattle, WA Residence: Claremont Academy Base of Operations: Claremont Academy Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Academy Family: Foster brother and sister Description: Age: 18 (DoB: March 19, 2004) Apparent Age: 18 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5' 11" Weight: 180 lbs. Eyes: Gray Hair: Black Description: Black hair, cut short and brushed back except for a few bangs that won't cooperate. Leon keeps himself in shape, and trains to keep his agility. He likes to dress casually in his free time, anime/cartoon themed t-shirts and jeans usually. His ‘costume’ used to typically consist of a black short sleeved shirt with red trim, blue jeans and sneakers. He has though agreed to a change of colors to reflect the school’s colors. This is easy for him since his ‘costume’ is usually made of paper made to look and act like regular clothing. This is accompanied by a slim, black backpack with a few various books in it at any time, along with some personal items. Several small black pockets on straps around arms (1 on each), thighs (2 on each) and 2 each hip of his belt. Each pocket is large enough to hold a deck of index card sized paper. Hanging on the back of the belt is a case that holds 2 large rolls of paper about the width of receipt tape and hundreds of yards long. History: Born in Seattle to a teen mother, she moved to Freedom City when he was still young with her then boyfriend. When Leon began to show signs of not being ‘normal’ the man abandoned them. His mother felt she could not take care of a ‘special’ child and surrendered him to the foster system without telling them of his ‘nature’. Shortly thereafter she returned to her family in Seattle. Leon has not had any contact with her since. In the system since age 8, Leon was moved from home to home several times, unable to settle, acting up, and trying to run away. At first, he blamed his powers for his mother abandoning him. When he was 11 he landed in the same foster house as two other children hiding their powers. With their help he accepted his powers and embraced them. The three agreed that they could only rely on each other and swore to always be there for each other. Believing the system was a failure and that no one else could or would see them as more than either a burden or a paycheck, the three ran away together and turned to small crimes to do what they thought they needed to survive. At the age of 16, Leon wanted to prove to his brother and sister that he could work solo; he broke into the Freedom City Museum to attempt to steal something. Before he could secure his prize an explosion rocked the building. In the resulting confusion a FCPD detective that was in the building entered the showroom Leon was in. A second, smaller explosion struck and part of the building collapsed inward. Without thinking, he moved to protect the detective with a shield of paper over them both, but he wasn’t fast enough and Leon was knocked out. After the events at the museum Leon was hospitalized. He woke days later to find he had lost his left arm mid-bicep, but thanks to his quick reaction the detective had escaped with only minor injuries. During the hearing that followed, the court gave special considerations for his selfless actions and young age, while he would not turn evidence against his siblings, a deal was reached. A representative from Claremont Academy had petitioned on his behalf and Leon agreed to attend the private school under probation. If, and when, Leon successfully graduates from Claremont he would be given a clean slate with the courts and his juvenile records will be sealed. At first he was rebellious and troublesome, but teachers quickly saw the seeds for a good kid buried under the anger of a rough life. In the time he has attended Claremont, Leon has grown in both power and sense of responsibility, although he would never admit to the latter himself. He hasn’t disclosed it to anyone yet, but relations with his brother and sister have become strained and he can’t understand why. Personality & Motivation: Leon has always been a bit of a show off. He was also the most ‘energetic’ of his trio of foster siblings. Not bad kids by nature, they simply felt let down and abandoned by an overtaxed system. Although feeling they had to do what they had to, to survive, none of them ever wanted to hurt anyone. Leon would never give up his siblings, and would never turn his back on them. He isn’t one to trust anyone quickly, but has become less cynical after spending time at Claremont. If asked why he saved the officer he just shrugs and dismisses it as an act of stupidity on his part, not exactly sure what brought on the sudden act of heroics. Power Descriptions: Leon can control and manipulate paper, altering its shape and strength at his will. He can make paper stronger than metal and sharper than any normal blade. He can make it solid enough to resist liquids and gas. He can even have it resist heat and fire to a point. It can easily protect from an explosion with little harm to the paper, but repeated or continued exposure could eat away at the paper eventually. Shaping it, he can create nearly anything from simple weapons and gear to clothing and simple golems. Many pieces of smaller papers can be melded into a single, seamless construction and when done with them the constructs fall apart into their original pieces, or what’s left of them. Aside from his power over paper, or perhaps more because of it, Leon has taught himself how to use simple weapons. These would cover most blades, clubs/maces, spears/staves, bows and arrows, and throwing objects. All things he can easily create with paper. Skill wise, Leon is quick and agile from practicing often. He is not overly strong, equal to anyone his size that works out every so often. He has also developed a firm sense of balance. Complications: And I don’t give a damn about my bad reputation: Reputation: Leon and his foster siblings have records with the juvenile courts, and he doesn’t care if others know. Being predisposed to thinking that, in the end, everyone is looking out for themselves. It’s just a flesh wound: Disability: Leon lost his left arm not long ago during a robbery attempt. During the robbery Leon and a police detective were caught in a building collapse, he protected the officer, but his arm was crushed mid bicep. Leon uses his powers to create and maintain a paper arm that looks real enough. Leon was nearly in tears by the time Luke retrieved his phone. It took him a moment before he could actually take another sip from his own bottle. “Aw man, I should’ve had you send me those. Perfect blackmail material.” He grinned as he suppressed another chuckle. He watched the bottle as Bernadette as she spun the bottle. I stopped in Carmen and he watched her take another hit from her cigarette as she seemed to think. Leon thought for a moment. “Truth.” “Not that I can remember.” He shook his head. “It’s… it’s like it doesn’t want to hurt me if it can help it. I mean, I’ve never pushed to to see just how far it’ll go to keep from hurting me.” He ran a hand through his hair in thought. “But, I have been smacked on the head with a book more than once.” He smirked. “Maybe if it knows there isn’t any real intent to hurt me…” Leon gives a little shrug.

Leon yawned as he followed his roommate into the school’s auditorium. The optional (well, optional in his opinion) curfew hadn’t kept him from a late night excursion the night prior and it hadn’t been difficult for Luke to convince him to check out the possible easy credits He tucked his phone into his jeans and pulled back the hood of the hoodie he was wearing. As they neared Rosalind he recognized her. After all, he had made a mental note of all the cute red-heads back before the new year had started. Before he had an actual girlfriend. He made a complete turn as he walked, the BABYMETAL logo visible on the back of the hoodie as he did. Glancing around the auditorium he raised an eyebrow before looking at the reluctant head of the endeavor. “Are we early?" He teased, giving the red-head a grin. “Cause if my boy here woke me up before needed I’m gonna be very cross with him.” He chuckled and gave Luke’s shoulder a friendly shove.

“‘Bout time you snapped outta it.” Leon said giving his head one last shake. “You tell him.” He looked down at Chewy. Suddenly the piles coins that was the ground under them began to shift again. “Shi-!“ Leon dodged aside, narrowly avoiding a toppling pile of treasure. “Don’t have to tell me twice.” The young thief was already moving. He scooped up their little companion and followed his roommate. The two ran as well as the shifting ground allowed until Luke suddenly stopped. Leon skidded a few feet on the unstable coins but recovered to look back. “What are you doing? We kinda short on options unless you can sud-“ Luke cried out in joy and the boy melted into the expanding mass of black scales that erupted into a full blow dragon. “-denly turn into a dragon again.” He looked down at Chewy and the creature chirp-snapped. “You said it, not me.” Leon smirked and ran for Luke, shifting Chewy to his right side. Grabbing hold, he swung himself up onto his friend’s back. “Kick it!”

Leon was amused at the railyard’s fence, watching as Neko gracefully vaulted it. Admittedly, he didn’t have his girlfriend’s physical strengths, but he wasn’t going to be out done. He watched with a grin as the others followed her over. Bringing up the rear he leapt up, grabbing the top of the barbwire with his left hand he briefly balanced on it in a one-handed handstand before continuing to the other side with a flip. The rent-a-cops were doing the bare minimum to earn their paychecks, not that Leon blamed them. The railyard was only limping along commercially and everyone knew the after-hours visitors were ignored unless they started causing problems or property damage. The warehouse was perfect for what they were looking for, tucked away amongst several identical ones. The group easily gained entry and slipped inside. Once inside, Leon grabbed a bottle and twisted the cap off. “Cheers.” He smiled and tapped his bottle to the others with a small clink before taking a swig. He set the bottle down and started to dig into the interior of his jacket. “Party games, that sounds like fun.” He grinned mischievously as he produced a small wireless speaker and set it aside for the moment to look at the others.

Chimera’s blow landed and she felt the rush of the charge as it gave the swordswoman a moment pause. Feeling confident she quickly tried to follow it up with a second zap. Unfortunately Fury seemed to shrug off both the effect of her first strike and the second one before it even finished connecting. ”Crap.” There was a moment of dread at the thought of being the focus of the woman’s ire when Chimera got the sudden feeling of something behind her. She instinctively ducked aside as a swarm of tendrils lashed out and grabbed Fury. Chimera blinked in surprise even as the young girl she had seen earlier stepped forward to demand the fighter’s surrender. ”O..kay…” Chimera muttered to herself as she straightened up and glanced around. The giant wolf seemed to have the Gentleman pinned and no one else seemed willing to approach them yet, but she knew better than to let her guard down. Still it was a little embarrassing that yet another teenager seemed more effective than she was. If this kept up, she might develop a complex, she thought with dark humor.

Leon grinned down at Neko, admiring her bright lit eyes. “I love the way you think.” He glanced up and snickered at Bernadette’s comment before outright laughing at Luke’s. “Well then, let’s enjoy it while we can.” At the question of alcohol and her dupes Leon smirked at Bernadette.. “Now that sounds like something I’d like to see.” He laughed and glanced at Carmen. She was a girl of few words, but she was trustworthy. She just needed to loosen up a bit. “To the rail yard then.”
