Leon gave a little chuckle at Maybelle’s assessment of one of her staff’s skills. He glanced up as she slid into the booth across from him. Noticing her small winces, he gave her a concerned look. It didn’t seem too serious, and he is look said that he noticed but wasn’t saying anything. He shifted his posture and sat up a little straighter. Leaning forward and resting his arms on the table, he tapped the tips of his fingers together in an anxious gesture. At her questions, Leon managed a smile at the mention of the photo, though he did look away. “They’re doing good, I think.” He shook his head and looked back at her, still trying to hold the smile. “Need to bring them around one of these days. Ya know, if they’re still talking to me later.” He looked down at the pie and actually smiled more. ”I’ve been meaning to bring Neko here. Let y’all see how great she is yourself.” Leon was obviously changing the topic, just doing a poor job of it. He leaned his head back against the booth and blew out a breath, falling silent for a moment until he seemed to force himself back on track. “That is if I don’t ruin that too.” He closed his eyes. ”Maybe I’m just reading in to things and causing my own drama.”

"You were brilliant." Leon grinned as slipped around Neko and drew her into a hug from behind, giving her a kiss on the cheek as he held her. He looked from Luke to Bernadette and smirked. "Charlie would be so disappointed in us." He chuckled, referring to their 'Young Guardians' teammate. "Always nice to have an extra set of eyes or two." Leon nodded to Bernadette. "Could'a used someone like you a couple times." "Plenty of empty buildings around." He offered at Luke's prompt. "Or the old railyard."

Leon managed a chuckle. "I'm sure the pie's good. Probably not as good as when you make it yourself though." He teased, but Maybelle could see though the attempted charm as Leon set his utensil down. "I meant to stop by before now. Just been a busy week." Leon hesitated a moment before sighing and slumping back in the booth. "I saw my brother and sister last night." He said without looking up from the pie slice. Over his visits Leon had told her about how he met Elizabeth and Richard in foster care, how they all had powers and how they had decided to run away from the foster system together to be their own family. He had told her that they had to resort to stealing for crooks and big businesses to survive and that had gotten good at it. He never made it sound like they were sorry for doing it, but since arriving at Claremont he hadn't been able to join his siblings. He was always upset about that. But something else was weighing on the young man's shoulders this time.
-
Leon frowned as Luke seemed completely unresponsive. He glanced down at Chewy. "I hear ya." He glanced over his shoulder at the golden disc and swallowed, quickly looking back at Luke. The ground shifted under the teens, toppling another pile of coins and Leon grabbed his friend's by the shoulders again for support. "We can't stay here... Damn it, man. Snap out of it." He snarled and slapped the boy... "Ow..." Leon shook his hand. "You and your strong jaw." He grumbled under his breath.

Leon rolled his eyes at Jonah's retort. It took an effort to keep his moth shut and not push the kid's buttons, for now. Instead he glanced back at Naomi. He wanted to stay angry, but just couldn't. The girl never meant to anger anyone. Leon had just been angry already, snapped without thinking and now he had upset her. He took a deep breath and exhaled it, smiling down at her as he did. He gently accepted the battered five, inclining his head in a conspiratorial way anyone who knew him was familiar with. "Thanks." He grinned mischievously. Another thing he was well known for. "You realize I'm just gonna hang on to this until I can spend it on you or Wilona." He chuckled as he sat up straight again and tucked the money away, but Naomi could see him glance towards the class door and see him frown briefly before turning to look at Owain. Leon gave Owain an 'I'm hurt' look, complete with his hand on his chest. "I am hurt, wounded even, that you would think me deceptive good sir." Even he couldn't keep a straight face though and he started to snicker before Mr Hawke stepped past and Leon composed himself with some effort. It was Holly's turn and Leon leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table as he listened. When Neko started to murmur though, Leon's attention shifted to her. He frowned, wishing he knew what she was saying. He started to say something but Luke beat him to it. Leon gave his roommate a smirk and a grin. Between Luke and Natalia, it started to look like a consensus to go with the invaders until Owain answered. He had to give the young knight credit for sticking to their guns... or rather swords. When the boy fell into debate with Gwen Leon chuckled. "I'd have to say no to that deal too. First off, I'm not going to bow down to anyone. And secondly, I'm not about to make my Ōjo <princess> angry." He had taught himself a few words, but still need to learn it for real. Leon chuckled and grinned. "Course, if she did get angry, she could probably drive them back on her own."

An hour before closing, the door to The Southern Queen chimed. The young man that entered was becoming a familiar face. He first started coming around shortly after the owner catered an event at the local private school, Claremont Academy. Asking for the older woman by name there had been obvious teasing from the staff at first, but with subsequent visits they had gotten used to him. It wasn’t the first time Leon had arrived late at night, obviously flaunting the school’s curfew. But, it was the first time he came around looking quite so depressed. One of the staff pointed him towards an empty booth and brought him something to drink while he waited for Queenie to be free. A moment later, a piece of pie joined the glass and Leon glanced up at the woman, giving her a thankful smile. “Thanks, Amy.” “Everything okay?” Amelia asked. “Ya, just school drama.” He half lied. But the best lies were grounded in truth. “Don’t let me keep you from cleaning.” The server nodded understandingly and moved on to finish her own work, leaving Leon to nudge what he knew without a doubt was very delicious pie around with his spoon as he waited patiently.

GM On the other side of the wall the teenage heroes could hear one of the villains clawing furiously away at it. Muffled cries of rage punctuating the sounds. It was anyone’s guess how long the makeshift barrier would last against the onslaught. Several of the heroic teens had withdrawn from the office into the main office hall. The wolf-shaped Owain carrying the scared man out with him while Neko readied to doubled down on her mental assault. Bear-Knuckle was patting through snarling teeth whe the world suddenly erupted back into existence. He blinked against the sudden brightness of the interior lighting and looked around for someone to tear into. His razor sharp talons flexing in anticipation. As his vision adjusted his attention fell on the confusing image of Neko. He focused on her with feral intensity but his body language gave way his hesitation. Conflicting emotions warred and he snarled. “What the hell do you think you’re doing? I could tear the little head of yours right off your shoulders.” But again he made no actual move to attack. Bear-Knuckles jumped back several paces from the terrifying visage, his eyes darted back and forth, searching for nonexistent things that crawled at the corners of his vision. The mountain of a villain shakily drew himself up before the the huanting sight of the demon cat-girl, even as the primordial fear from Luke continued to settle over him like a tightening net. Fear wormed its way in the man’s rage seemed to drain from him and he licked drying lips. “You-you think you have me down.” His forced bravo unable to hide the tremble in his words. “The bell hasn’t rung yet. I ain’t down for the count.” Anger laced the fear in his tone even as he took another step away from Neko’s image. His hand dug into a pouch on his belt. The trio of arguing teens all stop to look at Nightscale. The red-haired girl looked at Paper, who can only shrug. “Come on.” The other boy says. “If anyone was going to recognize us, it would be his roommate.” The red hair girl only sighs as Paper smirks. Almost at the same moment, the assault on the wall stops and yelling erupts, followed by a terrifying cry of pain. All three teens step back from the wall, staring at it.

Leon actually hesitated for a moment at Wilona’s unusually quiet tone. At the use of his actual name his frown was nearly imperceptible, then gone just as quickly. When Naomi addressed him though, he was obviously a little taken aback at the girl’s jab. “I’ve never asked you, or anyone else, for money.” Leon did his best not to let the twinge of anger he felt at her ‘offer’ show. The paper checks rustled briefly in her hands in echo of his feelings. He knew the two were very protective of each other and she was just lashing out in her own way, but he thought Naomi would have known he hadn’t meant to drive Wilona out of the room. But it still stung coming from her. Luke’s comment managed to quell the embers of his anger. His roommate knew him well enough to know Leon could be prickly but was never purposefully malicious. He gave the dragon boy an appreciative nod. At least Ryder hadn’t said anything to him. Jonah though was new and didn’t know what they had been through together already. A year of classes, training, trips and even time travel. The young man managed to set Leon on the defensive again. “Says the new kid.” He started to say something else when Neko spoke up, her answer close to his own. He gave her another smile, a good portion of his ire fading as he watched her settle back and tune out even as Owain spoke up. “That’s just it.” He said picking up a card and flipping it over and over, revealing nothing printed on either side. “There is no ‘correct’ answer. The point-“ He shot Jonah a look, pausing long enough for Carmen to let the teacher excuse her. “The point is that it’s impossible to have all the answers, cause you can’t always have all the facts.” Leon glanced at Holly. “All we can do is what we think is best when we’re in the moment.” He looked up at Mr Hawke with an obvious look that told the older man that was what Leon thought of all of these questions. “These have all been based on real events." He said leaning back again. "This wasn’t any different. We used some of it to buy dinner, then gave the rest to our neighbor.” He said flatly without any further explanation.
-
Leon glanced back at Jonah. "That's just it. You don't know. No way of knowing where, how or why." He gave the mountain of a boy a shrug. "I guess you would be." Leon gave her a side-eye. "I don't know, why haven't you?" "She makes a good point." He smiled at Neko (yes, he was bias) than looked back at Holly. "Not everyone has money to burn. Where do you draw the line?" Leon glanced back at Mr Hawke for a moment before continuing. "When does it go from help others, to hurting yourself?" "What if like, Neko said, you were poor? What if you needed that money just to get by?"

GM Teens & Paper - Central Office Hall All three teens looked back at Bear-Knuckle’s cry of rage. “This is no time for stupid heroics.” The red-head said hotly, leveling a stern glare at Paper with a familiarity that was unmistakable. “These guys are serious bad news.” Paper flinched visibly, but to his credit he stood his ground. “I said I can’t leave them.” He managed a less stern glare. That is, until a hole burst through the makeshift wall causing all three teens to step back. “Crap!” The other boy cried out, bringing the pistol-like weapon level with Snap-Maw’s face. The weapon’s obvious plastic box design identifying it as a taser dart gun, only to have fresh growth force the villain back and cover the hole. All three teens glance in Artifcer’s direction as the Atlantean calls out to his classmates. “I’ll be okay.” Paper called back as he and the red-head glared at each other again. He leaned in closer, lowering his voice. Not noticing the others as they pull back from engaging the bear of a man. “You didn’t answer my question.” The brown-haired boy stepped up between the two, looking from Paper to the girl. “Work.” He answered shortly. “But that’s gonna have to wait. We need to get outta here, before the cops show up.” She shifted her glare to him. “We can’t just leave him here to these psychos.” The red-head shot back, waving an arm in the direction of the wall and the villains beyond.

Leon Leon shot Jonah a look when he spritzed in Neko’s direction, but Ryder interposed himself before he could think of something that wouldn’t get him sent to the headmistress again. By the time he was paying attention again Luke was commenting on Neko’s streaming and Leon had to nod in agreement. It was Wilona’s rant that gave him some pause. She wasn’t exactly tight lipped about their past, but she wasn’t exactly forthcoming either. He had to shake his head though. “You weren’t the only one to have to survive on the streets. You can say you want to go back to your lives, but that’s not the same as going back to the streets. Nobody wants to go back to the streets.” He glanced at Naomi for a moment with an unreadable look when the ‘b’ word was used. He’d learned she was loaded back when they had their pool day, but that was even more than could have suspected. “You’ll be leaving school, but you’ll be just fine. Hell, you wouldn’t even have to work.” Leon stopped himself, resisting the urge to make a biting comment at Wilona only because he didn’t want to do it at Naomi’s further expense. He felt a little bad for what he had already said, but didn't say anything else. Leon knew once this year was over he’d be heading back to the streets himself. Not to the dumpster alleys, but to the dog-eat-dog world of penthouse thefts and fast-talking fences trying to tell you the gold necklace will be too hard to pawn off but they guess they can give you 10% of its worth… Now that he was thinking about, it something pulled at his thoughts. It had never bothered him before, the thought of going back to his brother and sister seemed the most logical thing. But now something about it bothered him. Something he couldn’t put a finger on. Leon absentmindedly put his hand on Neko’s. Luckily Owain gave him something to be distracted by. He couldn’t help but snort at the young knight’s naivety, echoing Natalia’s comment. “Maybe, as soon as they stop charging people an arm and a leg to stay alive, and stop, basically, making it a crime to be poor. Sometimes you just gotta take what you can to survive.” He paused for a moment, memories running around his thoughts. He looked up at Mr. Hawke. “I have a scenario for the class, if it’s okay with you.” He waited as the teacher gave him a considering look before nodding, Leon nodded back. “Let’s say, you just finished taking down a known criminal. You’re in a random back alley, no witnesses. Just you and the prep. You just noticed that during the fight they dropped a big wad of cash. You have no way of knowing where, or how they got it. But you do know that your neighbor, a single parent just trying to make ends meet, won’t be able to make rent again this month and put food on the table. Just by looking though, you can tell that cash would help them. And if you leave it for the cops, it’s just going to ‘disappear’ in the system. What do you do?”

Leon The chaos of the courtyard was gone, but the hallways weren't exactly empty. Stragglers moved to and fro, current students were busying themselves for the time being while new students were heading off to orientation. A chance encounter in the halls on the way here had led to a run in with two of their friends and two new students. Introductions had been made again and extra people had actually helped relieve some of the initial tension. They had eventually managed to slip away with some help from his roommate. Still, standing here now, it felt like a tiny bubble separated himself and Neko from the background noise. Leon didn’t want to let go of her hand yet as they stood in front of her dorm room. He had already handed over her and Owain’s earnings from the stand. “So, I- ah.” He wasn’t sure why he felt nervous. They’d talked plenty before now, this should be easy enough. Leon took a breath and started again. “I was wondering, ya know, if you would want to, ah…” He rubbed the back of his head in a nervous gesture. “What to maybe catch a movie or something? Maybe grab some lunch while we’re at it? I know the lady that runs this little really good dinner. Maybe, just the two of us.” Leon cleared his throat. “Ya know, if you wanted to. I mean, I’d understand if you didn’t.”

Chimera Chimera was still distracted by Gentleman hanging ominously in the air. She notices only too late when Fury swings her sword again, sending a wave of scorching flames over her and her unlikely comrade-in-arms. The flames continue to burn and singe the hems and edges of her dress. ‘Jamie is gonna kill me when I get back.’ She thought with dark humor as she shielded her eyes, the heat washing over her. Patches of flesh exposed between techno-organic tendrils were angry red and starting to blister. Chimera clenched her teeth and shot the woman a glare. She took a deep breath, feeling her body wanting to take a moment to rest but pushing through it. Chimera felt her anger like a surge, focusing it she tensed and launched forward at the sword wielding woman. Her movements wouldn't be hard for a seasoned fighter to read as Chimera's electrically charged fist sailed towards Fiery Fury with a grunt of effort.

Leon Leon couldn't pull his stare away from the golden mirror of an eye. He felt something pulling at him, drawing him in. Somethin- "Ouch." His eyes snapped down at Chewie even as he pulled his hands up to rub it. "What was that fo-" He glared at the creature and opened his mouth to give it a stern reprimand but stopped as the haze seemed to clear from his mind. He started to turn to look at the eye again but stopped himself. Instead he looked towards Luke noticing the daze he seemed to have fallen in to. "Luke?" Leon reached and grabbed Luke's shoulder. "Luke?" He repeated with a hiss, his eyes almost flicking back to the eye. The deep vibration's of its breathing could be felt through the piles they were standing on. When he got no response again Leon attempted to physically turn his friend to face him. Trying not to raise his voice snapped his fingers in front of Luke's face. "Dude! Snap out of it."

Leon Leon still held his tongue at Holly's instant dismissal of a friend. He did frown as his roommate spoke up from the other group. Maybe he had been a little hasty in his answer. Maybe life on the streets had desensitized him more than he cared to think about. Mulling it over as the others spoke up, he kept his thoughts to himself as he waited to hear what the answer was this time. “Of course it was mind control.” Leon groaned, echoing Holly and WIlona’s irritation. “Cause people aren’t more then able to be stupid on their own.” He sighed. His eyes glanced down at the paper Naomi was doodling on and chuckled. He listened to the others as the debate veered towards strength vs responsibility. He took Naomi’s silence for what it was. She was thinking it through to herself, nervous to speak her mind, but it had slipped into her own little world. And he could see Carmen sitting near Luke was on brand with her cat-like disdain for the class. At Jonah’s comment about assuming ‘Wilona likes fire’ Leon nearly snorted, but quickly covered it up with a cough. “There’s an understatement.” He chuckled before continuing. “The firecracker’s not completely wrong though. I think her heart’s in the right place, she just phrased it wrong.” He said straightening up and waves at Ryder and Wilona. “Like they was saying… Stronger, faster, creating something with a thought… None of that equals ‘better’. But she’s dead on that it doesn’t give someone the right to tell others what they can or can’t do.” He cocks a smirk in the red-head’s direction. “Although, I’m sure some of the staff would love it if she would listen to them when they tell her not to do something.” He chuckled. “Helping people is fine and all, but seriously, not to sound like a sellout, getting paid would be nice. I mean, what’s so bad about making some cash off what we can do, as long as no one gets hurt?”
-
Leon “Oh ya, cause those neeeever turn violent.” Leon said dryly and leaned back in his chair. “Personally, I’d say give ya’ boy fair warning. If they’re cool about it, I’ll be cool about it. Can’t force people to think like you and still call them a friend.” He paused a moment in thought before continuing. “Now, if I see them walking blindly towards a rooftop, I’d have to step in. But, if they continue to insist and run headlong towards that ledge…” He raised his hands in a ‘that’s that’ gesture. “They’re an adult. They can deal with the fallout.” Leon leaned forward again and rested his elbows on the table, more serious than his usual attitude shows. “After that, I’ll be waiting at the bottom to give ’em a hand back to their feet and set them straight. Cause that’s what friends do.”
-
Leon “See, the firecracker knows what’s up.” Leon glanced at Naomi and gave her an apologetic shrug. “It’s a harsh world, most villains don’t respect anything but strength. To be honest that was the nicest answer I could think of.” He gave Ryder a smirk. “I don’t know, threatening loved ones sounds like it's pretty personal already. But Jonah’s not wrong. Too many things left vague in that one.” He smirked. “But there are plenty of things you can do to someone without killin’ ‘em. But giving them a little rope to hang themself with and catching them off guard later isn’t a bad tactic either.” He added with a nod towards Natalia. When Neko squeezed his hand he gave her a smile. “And intimidation can work wonders when done by someone with a knack for it. Leon made a face when Holly read the ‘answer’. “Okay that was a B.S.” He waved his hand and the card pulled from the telepath’s hand to flew to Leon’s. He read it again and shook his head. “All that and the went out like a lil punk ass b-” Leon cut off as Mr Hawke gave him a warning look. “-like a wimp.” He finished. He nodded in agreement with Jonah. “Next thing you know, they’ll be telling us ‘the best move is not to play the game’.” He said sarcastically. “Seriously, if they’re super villains they can’t be trusted to hold up their end to begin with. Even if you did let ‘em go, they could still double cross you.” Leon looked back at his roommate. “Thank you. If you let one person get the better of you, everyone else will think they can too. Then you have zero street cred.”
-
Leon was more than happy to have gotten grouped with Neko, returning her smile. We’re they being sickenly sweet in public? He didn’t think so, he also didn’t care. As Holly read the question like she was auditioning for a daytime soap, he rolled his eyes and leaned back. He snickered after she finished. “I gotta agree, if someone thought they could go after my sibs they’d be hard pressed to catch them. I know everyone I care bout can take care of themselves.” He glanced briefly at Neko. “But, I’d still make sure they don’t think about actually doing it. Hard to give orders with a broken jaw and hands.”
