Chimera Jennifer would have been happy to leave after finding Jacob. But things were quickly spiraling out of hand. Also, she couldn’t leave these two alone now, never mind the fact they had helped her with a reason, it just wasn’t in her to leave them now that they too were in danger. Possibly because they helped her. Jennifer gave a short nod. “I just saw him. And he’s going to have a lot of explaining to do later.” She replied as the announcer started the run down for the next match. At the unexpected roar she jumped a little and looked towards the pit, but her attention was quickly pulled back as the jackal-masked, Mr. Tak, emerged from the restroom on what appeared to be a direct line for them. Instinctively, Jennifer placed herself between her two… companions? Cohorts? Accomplices? She placed herself between the two teens and the approaching threat. The symbiote writhed under her skin in seeming anticipation. Or was it just responding to her fear and adrenaline? Whatever it was, Jennifer couldn’t think of a good reason hold it back anymore. Silvery grey tendrils twine down her arms and legs as more tendrils wrapped around her chest and abdomen. She left the bear mask as it was, it did enough to hide her identity. Chimera had no idea what the two teens were capable of, but she didn’t want to chance anything. “Stay behind me.” She said, trying to sound confident as she assumed what Neko could easily tell is a basic defensive martial arts stance. She had good mussel tone thanks to her track history, but was clearly only yellow or orange judging from her stance.

Leon “Man has to have a few secrets. Gotta stay mysterious for the ladies.” Leon joked in return as he found solid footing. He rolled his shoulders and stretched his arms. “You said it.” He agreed as the two started down the river. Leon wasn’t sure how long they had been wading through the shallow waters before he realized light was filtering into their path. He reflected Luke’s smile as the two were finally able to see each other. “Not the first thing I’d like to see, but I’ll take it.” He teased his roommate. As the duo continued, the metal crashing grew closer. The tension was thick in the air as one of the creatures cried out somewhere ahead of them. They crept forward, expecting the worst as the stopped and peered around the rocks. A small, eyeless creature was being waylaid be a swarm of the beetle-like bugs that had been harassing them most of their way. It was obviously just a baby monster and Leon could see the look on Luke’s face. He looked back out at the scene and sighed. “Alright, let’s go save the ugly little thing.” Leon stepped out from the rocks and the paper ball he had used earlier unraveled in his hand. It twisted into a tiny spike and with a snap of his wrist it laughed out at one or the beetles. The squishy crunch on its shell being pierce wasn’t pleasant to hear but it didn’t stop him from recalling the paper spike and taking aim at another one.

Leon Leon rolled his eyes jokingly at Luke’s ribbing. Their ‘team’ hadn’t done much together yet, but every seemed excited for it. He supposed he enjoyed the idea of it too. As Luke talked about his own plans Leon couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. He hadn’t looked past himself when considering the future, and here his roommate was planning big. His shoulders hunched a little it he managed to shake it off as Luke turned the question back on Owain. He felt a twinge of something he couldn’t place when Owain mentioned his parents still being back where he’d come from. He had a bad habit of forgetting that others had parents. He couldn’t completely understand the desire to be with them, but he couldn’t bring himself to fault someone for it. When Neko spoke up Leon actually chuckled. “I’d subscribe to that.” He chuckled. “Get you playing a couple of scary games too. You’d make a mint.” He smirked and eyed Owain. “I don’t know, I can see our boy in a ‘Quest for the Holy Grail’ tee shirt.” He laughed. “Or maybe a Blink 182 shirt with a couple spiked bracelets.” Leon’s laugh eases into a chuckle again. “Seriously though,” He glanced at Luke. “Whatcha think, PacSun? Maybe American Eagle? I swear if you say Old Navy I will lose all respect for you.”

Leon Leon shot the cops a sett look as the rolled up on them with full lights and siren. As they started trying to harass them he could appreciate Wilona’s no nonsense reaction, but hoped they’re chaperon would talk to them before a fight started. They didn’t need to start a tussle with a couple of pigs in the past. When Naomi seemed to steady herself and offered him a hand to help her up he gave her what he hoped was a reassuring smile. “As you wish.” He teased as he helped her to her feet with Wilona. He held her hand loosely once she was standing so he could support her if needed, but she could freely take her hand back when she wanted. He stood beside the girls as they faced the police again. They were a crew (he’d heard the term in a movie years ago and liked the sound of it ), and he’d stand with them and the others.

Leon Leon gave Maybelle a mock ‘I’m wounded’ look when she told him Clara was too old for him. He followed it with a chuckle. “Story of my life.” He joked as he scraped his plate to get the last bits. He paused and gave her an incredulous look. He looked thoughtful for a moment before the wicked temptress invaded the poor boy’s attention. Leon quickly averted his eyes and met her gaze. He shot her a lopsided grin. “Well, you certainly know the way to a man’s heart.” “Ah…” Leon fumbled for words. “Ya, sure. I need to spend more time in the gym later anyways.” He joked even as he watched the older woman float off towards the kitchen. It was so unfair that an ass like that was out of reach. Then again, he did set himself up for failure. He was always chasing girls he somehow knew he didn’t have an actual chance with. He frowned as he thought. He was just a sucker for a pretty girl, and possibly a even bigger sucker for good food. He drew a piece of paper from his hoodie and set it on the table and with a pen he scribbled a few incoherent lines. Tucking the pen away, he waved a hand over the paper and the ink moved. It spread and rearranged itself until it was an exact copy of the mentorship paper work, filled in for himself. It even bore an ‘Approved’ stamp and signature he’d seen on other applications. When Maybelle returned he held the sheet up with a mischievous grin “Oh hey, look what I found. Still up to having a someone taste test for you, I mean learn from you.”

Chimera Jennifer’s attention was drawn to the ringleader announcing the winner of the match. She was about to dismiss it when she caught sight of the battered Jacob, whom had been a giant wild man only minutes ago. “Oh, you have got to be kidding me.” She groaned under her breath. She wasn’t sure how Jamie would take this revelation. Her attention though was quickly drawn away from the pit as a jackal masked man ran towards them only to stop and address the guards harshly. From what he said it was obvious he was on to them and Jennifer was sure they were going to get caught. She could feel the itch of the symbiote wanting to come one again but she pushed back on it. They may still be able to slip past them.

Leon A small group of teenage heroes were heading to a pre-holiday party in a Riverside warehouse Leon had found a flyer for. Leon was trying not it chuckle as he neared the end of needlessly long joke about a young boy asking about a purple turtle. “… so the kid asked the judge, “Judge sir, what’s a purple turtle?” And the judge slams his gavel and tells the kid “That’s it, 50 years in prison”…” It’s about here, the small group of teens are passing a tall office building with a nice courtyard. “…so the kid spends the next 50 years behind bars. When he’s finally released, he runs out into the street, happy as can be when suddenly…” The teens never get to hear the end of the joke as the sound the sound of breaking glass 25 floors up reaches their ears, followed by the messy sound of a body and broken glass hitting the ground in the courtyard of the building they’re passing. “What the f*ck was that?” Leon’s head snaps around at the sound, his eyes darting around is search of the source.

GM Friday, December 17th 7PM Riverside The Benedict Sans Office Tower 25th Floor The Benedict Sans Officer Tower was a newer addition to the Riverside skyline. It towered over its neighbors as an collection of office floors. Importers liked its proximity to the river and as did start up tech firms like to distinguish themselves from their Hanover counterparts. Representatives from numerous technological and import companies, both local and from outside the city, gathered for a pre-holiday party at the offices of Dumass and Prude Imports. The offices occupy most of the 25th floor. Networking and deal-making was done under the veil of festive cheer. Everyone knew the party was a thinly disguised ploy at gaining favor with key companies. Everything was going fine. Champagne flowed, hors d’oeuvres were nibbled, and schmoozing abound through out the large room where the party was being held. Offices lined two walls of the party room, while floor to ceiling widows encompassed the exterior wall, overlooking the courtyard and offering a magnificent view of the river in the distance. Suddenly, gunfire pierces the evening cheer as armed goons dressed in black stand aside from the open doors of the party room. Five men, one a large man with a thick red mustache and bear paws for hands, another scrawny man with large fly-like wings, bug eyes and arms. A bald, heavyset man in wrestling pants and a long grey/black hair man with glowing eyes flanked them. Finally, another man, obviously younger then the others stood to one side, with a drawn out nose and mouth that gave him a shark like resemblance to match the sharp white teeth his grin shows off. The red-haired man steps forward and spoke up. “Listen here ya prissy, walking checkbooks. This here’s a robbery, you’re gonna cough up whatcha got while we rummage through your offices for pretties, or I’ll know why.” “Now see here!” An older man in a expensive suit steps forward from the terrified guests. Mr. Russell Dumass. The co-owner of Dumass and Pride Imports and the man hosting the party. “You would do well to leave before you face trouble.” Mr. Dumass glanced over at large, suited man with an earpiece and nodded. As if on cue the man and several others around the room draw pistols on the intruders. The party crashers laugh as the armed guards aim there weapons at them in return. The black clad goons aimed small assault rifles and the tension in the room thickened until the red-haired man raised a bear paw of a hand and the goons relaxed some. What happened next was swift and vicious. Four of the men moved with purpose while the one with glowing eyes simply watched. The guards quickly fell under the assault of the villains. Some knock unconscious while others were less fortunate. With the shark faced man being the least restrained. The man he took a bite out of bled profusely and this seemed to only drive him into a frenzy. The other villains only watched as the shark man bite the man over and over until in a rage he picked the bloodied guard up like a rag doll and tossed him through one of the floor to ceiling widows to have him land in a blood mess in the building’s courtyard 25 floors below. The speed and ferocity of the attack cowed any further resistance in the crowd as they began to comply with the men and their goons. Satchel carrying goons began to move through the crowd as the villains regrouped. They spoke in hushed tones before splitting up. The bald villain in wrestling pants and boots took several goons and left the party room as the bear-handed man turned his attention to Mr. Dumass. “You.” He commanded. “Your office, now.” The frighten businessman followed the command and lead the villain into his office. The villain closing the door behind him for privacy. The remaining three villains watched the goons moving through the party guests like vultures waiting on their next meal.

Jennifer shook her head at Owain’s reference, but still followed the two out of the restroom. She eyed the last goon cautiously as they quietly passed him. “Hmm? Oh…” Jennifer was a little surprised by the question, though she supposed she shouldn’t be. It was a valid query. She thought for a moment but didn’t see the harm of giving them the basics. ”I’m looking for someone as well. My friend’s current boyfriend has been coming here secretly. We wanted to find out why.” Jennifer finally noticed the techno-organic tendrils along her arm and gave them a stern look. Silently they retreated from her arms and legs, melding back into her skin and disappearing without a trace. Satisfied, she turned her attention back to the two. She wouldn’t be surprised if her little display didn’t even faze them, given their own displays. She gave them a smile. ”Thanks for the help back there, I owe you one. I don’t know if I can help you, if I can I will.”

GM Outrider stood vigil over Creepshow as the others dealt with the remaining subjects. Her hammer ready to strike again, should the villain prove to be a further threat. With the powdered stone Shooting Star manages to help start smother the flames. Unfortunately the man seems half crazies from the pain and he cries out and struggles against the hero’s efforts. She’ll need help to fully deal with the flames. The faceless woman stumbles across the platform, nearly falling over the edge head first. Luckily, Outrider catches the movement out of the corner of her eye and manages to grab her by the back of the ragged shirt she is wearing. The faceless one flails her arms backwards but only manages to glance off the hero’s armor as she is held at arms length. The unfortunate monster of a man laid unmoving where Star had set him down. The only sign he was still alive was the subtle movements as he continued to breath. Fir his part Creepshow mimicked his creation, laying still as the heroes contended with his other subjects. Experiments he would have to restart after he found new subjects he thought silently to himself. The wild woman leapt up onto a empty gurney and hissed at Chimera, but made no move to attack. And somewhere amongst the various machines and stacks of supplies a small figure moved, silent as a cat.

Chimera Chimera stubbles back from the wild looking woman. She leapt a defensive manner as she clenched a hand over the vicious bite. She felt drained and tired, fighting to stand up straight sunder her own weight. Luckily she found her footing and taking the moment she felt a little less bruised and battered. The blood flow slowed as her body quickly reacted to the injury. “I think I’ll manage.” She replied with bit of a pant and a grateful nod towards Nightscale. She was hurt and she wasn’t sure how long it would take to heal, but she could let her guard down now. The wild one was still dangerous. Luckily Star rejoined them, carrying a limp Bru… Matthew? Thankfully she moved to help the burning man.

Leon watched Neko as they walked down the sidewalk. He glanced around and chatted with Luke, but his attention eventually fell back on the cute girl. When she had rejoined them after changing he’d joked that her jacket should have a spiral design. Watching her looking around at the city with such open wonder was entertaining. As quiet as he was, Leon as a surprised at Owain’s sudden question. Leon opened his mouth to reply but paused for a moment and closed it, obviously thinking before starting again. ”You know, I thought I knew. At fist, I kinda just figured I’d go back to my brother and sister. Be a family again. But now…” He shook his head. ”I’m not sure. A lot of things have changed.” He looked at Luke, curious of his friend’s answer.

“Wrong direction I’d say.” Leon corrected. He pointed at Danica. ”Give the lady prize. Early Eighties I’d say, judging by the cars.” He glanced back, watching her head back to check her theory. “Cause they haven’t been built yet probably.” Leon looked back at Wilona as she came back down. He glanced around and nodded. ”Nice work picking out where we are so quickly.” He had to give her credit for it. He looked back again and saw Wilona had turned her own attention to Naomi, who seemed to be having a panic attack of some kind. Leon slowly stepped over and crouched beside Wilona. He kept his voice low and steady. ”Hey, it’s okay. No one here is gonna let anything bad happen, least of all your girl here.” He tried to reassure her. ”She’s strong. You’re strong. I’ve seen the two of you together in training. You’re not weak little kids, you’re street tough. And street kids have each other’s backs.” He glanced at Wilona. He didn’t know their whole story, and he didn’t ask. It wasn’t his business, but every street kid had one. Sure he didn’t care who know his, but others played it close to the chest. He could only hope he was helping. ”Plus, you’re rolling with crew now. We’re gonna watch out for each other, no matter how much be snipe at each other.”

Jennifer watched in astonishment as she watched herself flee. She had jumped a little as the men had burst into the restroom. The symbiote spreading down her arms and legs reflexively. She started to say something as the guards rushed out, obviously unable to see the trio standing mere feet away. She stopped herself though as the last goon seemed to be in communication with someone. She didn’t know who it was, but she was sure she didn’t want to find out. Mentally she cursed, how had they picked her out so quickly? Was it the mask? She hadn’t had a chance to buy one, she thought she’d done a good job getting the symbiote to create one. She hoped it wasn’t the dress. She hated to admit it was the nicest one she owned. Jennifer glanced down at the two younger people standing beside her. Just who were these two? How did she keep running into super-powered teens? She had seen plenty of mentions of young heroes in police reports she had studied. But where did they keep coming from? Was there a school for them in town or something? For now she held her tongue and tried to focus on the remaining man.

Leon watched with some awe as Maybelle’s silvery threads laced around the paper tree like elegant ivy before blooming. The young man turned a joking smirk on the older woman, then grinned. “Show off.” He teased. It took one to know one. “See, if someone like you was a mentor, maybe I wouldn’t have dodged it.” He leaned back and picked up his fork again. “Not that I’m gonna complain, if I hadn’t skipped out on it I wouldn’t have gotten to have such a good lunch.” He gave Maybelle a silly grin. “And gotten to share it with the pretty cook, who’s way outta my league.” His silly grin tinted with a hint of mischief. “By the way, how old’s your friend?” He waved the fork in the direction of the kitchen where the girl Clara had gone. “Just asking, you know, for a friend.”

The duo carefully worked their way down the giant stone ‘steps’ with Leon shivering nearly every time the wind cut over them. As they descended he noticed the sound of running water somewhere in darkness. He couldn’t place it with the echo of the carven they were traversing. The hrising humidity was helping, neither were the oversized bugs they kept having to knock off or squish with their bare feet. “I am so gonna a shower when we get outta here.” Leon muttered as Luke lowered himself down another ledge. Leon carefully approached the edge and pointlessly looked over. It was all just more darkness. He rolled his eyes and mentally chided himself for doing it. “Hang on for a second.” He smirked at the double meaning and dug the receipt out again. It was all he had so he’d have to make the best of it. The little scrap of paper rolled itself into a small, marble sized bead in his hand. If he kept track as it fell he should be able to call it back before it fell too far. With his attention on the marble he tilted his hand and let it roll off into the darkness. Luck was on their side as Leo ‘felt’ his paper marble hit something solid about fifteen feet down or so. He had it roll around enough to give Leon the idea they had room to stand comfortably. “It’s about another ten feet below you. Should be enough room for us both.” He told his roomie then thought for a moment. “Think you can make some hand holds or something? Not sure I wanna drop down blindly.”
