  1. Jennifer was actual impressed with the restroom. She glanced around, noting the small, unusable window with a frown. This plan was falling apart faster then she hoped. The young girl’s sudden outburst caused her to look back at her just in time to witness the dog’s transformation. She inhaled sharply in surprise, but recovered quickly. “Well, that was unexpected.” She managed and glanced at Neko. “I don’t suppose they’re talking about you?” She asked half-heartedly then sighed at Neko’s response. She listened as Owain described the arena’s ‘sink’ effect. “Wait, wait, wait. You mean actual real magic?” Jennifer’s studies included well documented heroes and villains, so the idea of magic wasn’t out of her realm of belief. But the idea of her actually getting involved with magic was a little… weird to her. “Well this just keeps getting more complicated.” She rubbed her temples and started to pace. “Okay, okay. So finding Jacob is going to have to wait. Sorry, Jamie.” She muttered to herself. “I need to think of a way out of here.”

  3. Chimera Power Level: 8 (120/120PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: None In Brief: College student with techno-organic symbiote Catchphrase: *** Theme: *** Alternate Identity: Jennifer Gale (Secret) Birthplace: Organics: Augusta, Georgia / Cybernetics: unknown alien origin Residence: FCU Dorms, North End, Freedom City Base of Operations: FCU Occupation: College Student, Forensic Sciences Affiliations: none Family: Mother and Father Description: Age: 23 (DoB: April 1, 1998) Apparent Age: 20s Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’ 6” Weight: 115lb Eyes: Black Hair: Black Description: Lean and athletic, Jennifer enjoys running and does so almost daily. A little on the short side, she has a runner’s build of lean muscle. She wears her hair kept short and hardly bothers with make-up, beyond lip gloss and occasionally nail polish if pushed to go out with friends. Being a college student, her wardrobe usually consists of thrift store shirts and jeans, but she has a favored coat she received from her mother as a birthday gift. She wears glasses of thin metal frames, but the lens are only for show. History: Jennifer comes from a completely mundane family. As far as she knows, no one in her family has done anything noteworthy. Until starting college she still lived with her parents; her mother Susan Gale, is an accountant for a small firm, and her father, is a construction foreman for a small, local company. Jennifer was a prominent member of her high school track and field team, earning a handful of trophies and awards. The year prior to the last Terminus Invasion, Jennifer had just graduated from high school and was enjoying the brief freedom before starting college. She had driven up to High Point State Park for a weekend alone. In the early morning she was enjoying a jog along one of its many trails, oblivious to the two falling stars streaking above that changed courses sharply. By the time she heard the sounds of the incoming alien fighters over her earbuds it was too late. The force of first impact knocked her from her feet and a fraction of a second later the second impact flung her into a tree. The pain was almost unbearable as she tried to drag herself up using the tree as support. Something on one of the ships exploded and showered her with shrapnel, leaving dozens of cuts and a ringing in her ears. Jennifer collapsed to her knees and her vision swam. As her hearing began to clear, she heard shouting and sounds of struggle. Feeling around she was thankful she found her glasses, though one of the lenses was missing. What she saw was two creatures of inhuman nature locked in physical combat. One of the creatures spotted her and shoved the other aside to rush towards her. It yelled something Jennifer couldn’t understand and the second took the opportunity to fire some kind of weapon at the first. The shot tore through the rushing alien, splattering Jennifer in a silvery-gray ooze. Wounded, alien fell before reaching her and the shooter closed on it, pointing the weapon at the fallen combatant. The alien on the ground rolled on to its back, seemed to snarl something at the shooter. The shooter replied shortly before noticing the wounded alien was touched something on its arm. The second alien turned away quickly, as if to run, when the explosion erupted. The wave of force and heat drove Jennifer off her feet and tumbling again. When she finally regained consciousness on the forest floor, she was in dazed and in pain. Pulling herself to her feet she leaned against a tree and looked out over the crater left behind by the explosion. Small bit of metal caught the light here and there, but all Jennifer wanted was to get away from the site. Somehow, she managed to stagger her way back to her car. She couldn’t imagine how she actually made her way back to the hotel she was staying at, but when she finally woke up enough to take in her surroundings, she was in the small hotel bed. Her clothes were torn and bloodied as she stripped them off and entered the shower. Washing off the dried blood and dirt she was shocked not to find and marks on her skin. With only the remnants of her clothes Jennifer began to think she had simply tripped and hit her head while running. That the entire ordeal had simply been a delusion brought on by head trauma and counted herself lucky she seemed to be okay now. It wasn’t until she had returned home, and her mother had asked where her glasses were that Jennifer realized she hadn’t needed them since the hotel room. She made an excuse and went to her room to wonder what had happen. In the following year Jennifer started college classes and nothing else out of the ordinary happened…, until the Termius arrived. The heroes of the city defeated invaders, and all seemed well…, until… Something during the Terminus Invasion triggered the dormant techno-organic organism sleeping inside, and it awakened. In the time since then Jennifer has discovered the symbiote and learned the she could control it. Sure, it scared the ever-loving hell out of her, but after an acceptable amount of freaking out she finally came to terms with it and accepted that this was the new status quo. What Jennifer didn’t realize, was that when she was first infected with the active organism, she was seriously injured and the symbiote healed her. The symbiote was small then though, and it took all of its energy to heal her causing it to go dormant until reawakened. And to this day, Jennifer doesn’t know who the aliens where or what they were doing. Was the one that rushed her trying to harm her? Or was it trying to protect her from the other alien? She’ll never know. Personality & Motivation: Jennifer is a smart, energetic college student and she loves being active. She has s friendly and outgoing personality and can usually make friends easy enough. She attends Freedom City University to study Forensic Pathology, with the desire to join the city’s police department. Jennifer wants to help people and has decided that maybe she can use her newfound abilities to do that, like that heroes that protected her and the other citizens not just during the invasion, but every day. Power Descriptions: The techno-organic symbiote has a silvery-gray metallic appearance and seems to grow out of Jennifer’s flesh, returning when not needed. When active, it can react with incredible speed, growing protective tendrils around her and increasing her physical abilities to inhuman levels. (Not unlike unlike the Witchblade or the Darkness) Complications: Remove foil before microwaving: (Power Loss) Strong electromagnetic fields can interfere with the symbiote, and in turn cause Jennifer to be unable to use it until she can escape the effect. Keep a leash on it: The symbiote is a semi-sentient organism, it has been known to act on its own survival instincts. The GM can award a Hero Point if these involuntary actions causes a severe breach of etiquette or otherwise makes others uncomfortable, which could result in a penalty to (or automatically failing) certain interaction skill checks. Have you seen my phone?: The symbiote’s instincts for survival can extend to feeling the need to fortify itself. This can result in it ‘eating’ electronics and metals it comes in contact with for extended times to add to its material resources. Acting on its instincts it makes no differentiation as to the source of these materials: friend, foe, or other. The GM can award a Hero Point if this results in a severe complication for Jennifer or a companion due to missing items of importance or mechanical failure. 4. Have enough points to bump Chimera from PL7 to PL8. So here she is.
  5. Jennifer caught sight of the two rather large men that seemed to be coming towards them. ‘That can’t be good’ She thought to herself as she took Neko’s free hand and walked with her in direction of the restrooms. Jennifer glanced down at the girl. She followed the Neko’s nervous looks and noticed the men still following. “Shoot.” She muttered. ”What do they want?” Jennifer tried to not look nervous as she smiled at Neko. ”Don’t worry. I won’t let them hurt you.” She tried to sound confident as the two walked. Was it her they were after or the young girl with her? Jennifer couldn’t be sure.
  6. Leon took another swig as Ghost moved up beside him. He glanced sidelong up at him, like he was trying to read what he could see of the old hero’s face. After a moment he looked away. ”First one that tried to kill me.” He said with attempted remiss. ”Just no luck with red heads.” He added, obviously trying to use humor as a cover for what he was really feeling. ”Was just a bad night is all.” Leon waved dismissively at the air and looked back towards Luke. “We should roll before the cops or whoever gets here.”
  7. Jennifer chuckled at his comeback, watching him rise up of the rooftop, not unlike his namesake. ”I’ll keep that in mind.” She called after him as he flew off to unknown parts of the city. Left standing there alone on the rooftop she shivered as a brief breeze came along. ”Oh ya, guess I should get back to campus.” She said out loud to herself and sighed ”That paper’s not gonna write itself.” Once on the ground, Jennifer walked a few blocks before licking out and flagging down a taxi. It had been a long night already, but her classes would keep her up even later. Joy.
  8. “Ghost. Little on the nose.” She laughed and nodded. She thought she remembered reading about him in a few old case files she looked through. She gave him a warm smile. ”Thanks, but I think I learned a lot in one night. I really don’t think I could have done this without your help.” She reiterated. “I can’t imagine you’d ever need my help. But I attended Freedom University. You can problem find me around there. I’m better at computers the fighting it seems.” She chuckled nervously and looked back up at him. “But if I need help, I’ll know who to call.” She grinned at the pun, not sure he’d get, but also a little worried he just groan at it.
  9. Leon was quiet during Luke’s initial conversation with Ghost. He understood the trouble they’d be in if the authorities dragged him in, but he couldn’t get up the gumption to care right now. He hadn’t even noticed the threat when it was right in his face, in his hands even. And even after he figured it out, he was useless. Even Luke had been useful, while he flailed and nearly feel on his ass. He was learning a lot at Claremont, but maybe he was loosing something in the process. His instinct, the edge that kept him and his siblings alive and together all those years. Maybe Claremont wasn’t the right place for him, like he’d thought when he first arrived. Pan had done his best to reassure him, but now he was gone. Luke shoulder pat seemed to snap it out of his self doubt for the moment. He turned his head a bit towards Ghost without actually looking at him. “Ya, thanks for saving are butts.” He added, though he doubted the old man would want their help after this display. Leon started to walk towards the exit. As he did, he reach out a hand and a labeled bottle of soda glided into it. Twisting the cap off he took a long pull from the bottle then wiped his mouth with the back of his hands. After what he’d been through it was the least the club owed him.
  10. Leon had forced himself to chuckle at his roommate’s comments. ”Ya, ya. Keep bragging.” When Luke mentioned the paper trick he smiled to himself. ”To be honest, I wasn’t sure it was actually gonna work.” Leon felt around the ledge with his foot. It seemed to continue off to one side, but it was almost as narrow at the passage they just exited and who knew for how long it continued. ”Alright.” He said with some resignation, but at least he was sounding calmer and more collected already. Switching places with Luke had been a challenge unto itself, but they managed it. As his roomie swung himself over the edge Leon was nervous and got on his hands and knees to help him if needed. As it turned out, it wasn’t necessary. After only a foot or two Luke’s feet found solid ground again. Exploring it a little gave Luke the impression of another ledge small, but roomier then the last one. “We good?” Leon called down after hearing Luke moving around. With confirmation from his friend Leon eased himself over the edge and joined him on the new ledge. ”Another one.” He groaned as he knelt but the edge. ”Guess it’s my turn.” He sighed and began to carefully work his way over the ledge. Only to find footing before he was fully over. The ledge only up to his waist. ”Got lucky on this one.” Feeling around with his foot he found another edge. The ex-thief thought for a moment. ”Try to find some small rocks.” Leon crouched, searching for loose stones, using his paper to make some of need be. With Luke’s help he had two decent handfuls. Ina. Seeping motion he tossed the lot out over the ledge and listened. The boys could hear the stones as the bounced. It sounded like there were a lot of ledges. Like massive, mis-leveled steps leading down into the darkness. But towards what?
  11. Leon gave Neko’s conspiratorial look a mischievous grin in response. He tilted his head and eyeballed Owain and nodded. He leaned aside and looked at Luke. ”Oh ya, we gotta hook this boy up with some new threads.” He said thumbing at the time-displaced knight and joked. ”His fashion sense is a few centuries outta date” He looked up at Owain and teased. “Ready for a real challenge? Dealing with sales reps.”
  12. Yup, Ms Scorpion was the target.
  13. Leon chuckled as Luke nudged him. Luke forgot his strength sometimes, thankfully this wasn’t one of those times and Leon didn’t go tumbling… like last time. He gave Owain an inscrutable look at the ‘worst of us’ comment. Silently echoing his roommate’s response. “Public education is mocked, but for some it’s all they have access to. But I t’s something to get you by.” Leon shrugged. ”But ya, if you want the better education it’s gonna cost you. That’s not to say people can’t get lucky. Grants and scholarships can really help peeps that need them.” He leaned back on his hands watching Neko’s tail flip back and forth. “But that’s way too much talk about school. There are plenty of things more fun to talk about.” Leon grinned mischievously and nodded at Luke’s offer. “Like showing you around town. We can always find fun.” They could show them the club… no, wait, it shut down after the the incident with Holly and her brother. ”There are monuments and museums. There’s a botanical garden and a zoo.” He thought for a moment. ”Say, you two been to the mall yet?”
  14. Since Outrider’s player has stepped back for personal reasons we can assume she’ll stand watch over the unmoving Creepshow, in case he tries something. @Kaede Kimura @Nerdzul @Lone_Star also I edited the GM post for all the subjects and Brute to reflect Creepshow’s unseen actions. Subject A (the wild bloody woman) still seems hostile but also seems to be trying to disengage. If no one wants to attack her I think we can move this out of combat.
  15. Jennifer smiled at Casper’s thumbs up. She even found herself relaxing and chuckling at his few bits of advice. When he mentioned costs though, she sobered up and regarded him seriously. She’d seen the super hero tabloids in stores. She was sure it was all sensationalized, but heroes were people too. They had there own regular problems on top of ‘super’ problems. She didn’t frown, but her expression was one of resigned acknowledgment as she nodded. Meeting his eyes again, she could see the pain. This was a man speaking from experience, experience she had yet to endure. It gave her a shiver but she tried to play it off. Jennifer stood, dusting herself off and gave him a friendly smile as she tried to change the subject. ”You know, we’ve never properly introduced ourselves.” She stepped forward and extended her hand. ”Chimera.” She chuckled a little in embarrassment ”My friend came up with it as a joke, but I kinda liked it.”
  16. Jennifer picked her way through the crowd, looking for Jamie’s boyfriend. She hadn’t spotted him yet, but there were a lot of people in masks. Judging from their richer attire though, she was sure he wasn’t amongst them. As she glanced around at them she got the impression they were eyeing her in return. She was worried she might be called out if she looked too long, so she needed to quicken her pace. Sooner she found him and figured out what he was doing, the sooner she could get out. Jennifer turned to continue her search and nearly ran into the younger girl in the white kimono. “Oh? I’m sorry.” She apologized as she looked down at Neko. “I… ah.” Jennifer looked around a little surprised. Looking back to Neko she wasn’t sure what to do for a moment. She didn’t want to make a scene so she smiled politely at the girl. “Honestly, I’m not sure myself. But I’ll help you look for one.” Jennifer wasn’t thinking about the fact she was probably being more polite then some here would probably be. But she offered the girl a friendly smile. She wanted to ask what someone of her apparent age was doing in a place like this, but decided not to ask. Jennifer was unaware of any danger she was possibly in, but it was about then she noticed the large, wolf-like dog. ‘Oh, yeah. Forgot about that thing.’ She thought as she tried not to sound nervous. “That’s quite the puppy you have there. Are they friendly?”
  17. GM Subject A The wild woman seemed to shake off the shock of from Chimera's attack. As if in response she howled and leapt on to the hero. Her mouth spread wide, revealing far too many sharp teeth. Teeth that she sank into Chimera shoulder, finding a vulnerable spot in her protection. The feral-like attacker sucking deeply the wound, draining her victim's vitality. Blood covered her mouth and chin as it ran down her neck, fresh stains mixing with old as she suddenly shook her head. Looking in the direction of where Creepshow fell she let out a feral hiss as she backs away. Subject B The burning man moaned in agony as the flesh along his arms blacken and cracked further. The man stumbled under the pain, but was still under his master's orders. He gathered flames into his hands again and lobbed it at Outrider. The flames splattering against the hero's armor harmlessly. A moment later the burning man seems to stagger. He looks down at himself and let’s out a wail of pain as he falls to his knees, patting at himself uselessly. Subject C As if drawn by her fellow subject's attack the faceless woman stumbles forward towards Outrider. She manages the stairs only barely and as she lunges at the armored hero she misses entirely. She continues to stumble around blindly as the man cries out in pain. Brute Brute struggles against the gravitational force of Shooting Star's power. Unfortunately for the raging mass of muscle his tiny opponent's power is overwhelming. After a moment more of struggling the large man stops. He stares up at the hole blankly before suddenly sagging like a puppet with its strings cut. Creepshow Creepshow laughed at Outrider's outrage before fixing the armored girl with a unflinching glare. "You have no idea what I have done." Outrider's hammer slammed into him with a thunderous rage. The force drove the villain to the edge of the platform, his arms reaching out uselessly. Even as he was reeling from one blow Nightscale leapt forward, the boy's ethereal claws leaving gashes through his shirt as he toppled over the edge. Creepshow hit the floor below with an audible thud. Groaning as he rolled himself over with some effort. He said nothing, only laid there glaring up at the young heroes through the cracked mask.
  18. Leon watched Maybelle with a quirked smile as she seemed to think about his question. It was easy to read her, she'd be an easy mark... you know, if he still did things like that. As he watched something in her expression changed, touched with a hint melancholy if he had to put a name to it. The corners of his smile fell a little as he thought he may have touched on a sensitive subject without meaning to. She didn't say anything bout it as when she answered him so he didn't either. beaming a smile again he answered honestly. "Afraid I'm not familiar with, jessamine was it? But I know dogwoods, seen them around the park a lot when I use to go there. I think I remember what they look like." He rubbed his hands together, glanced around conspiratorially and grinned. holding his hands out to either side of the paper dragon it slowly began to curl out on itself, melding fuildly and flowing as it twisted and branched out. Roots spread from the base as the branches split into smaller ones with tiny buds visible on them. Finally the twisting growth stopped and the small paper tree stood unmoving. Leon glanced up at Maybelle and gave her a mischievous grin, raising his hand to snap his finger. With the snap the tiny buds began to bloom like a wave across it's branches.
  19. Following behind Wilona and Naomi, Leon had started their little expedition into the cave with some excitement and hope. But as the group slowly made its way, his hope for excitement began to dwindle. No scorpions. No snakes. No skeletons of previous explorers. Not even a cave painting to break up the boring. Then something did happen. There came a light at the end of the tunnel. “Glad I’m not big into symbolism.” He smirked to himself. As they approached it Leon realized it was probably an exit. “Great. More sand.” He thought to himself before speaking up. “At least it sounds like the dust storm stopped.” As he left the cave he paused beside Wilona and looked around. “Again.”
  20. Paper had been so focused on the masked man further down the way he hadn’t even noticed second villain until she attacked. The blades whip striking his shoulder drew a painful hiss from him, but it seemed to feel worse then it was. He turned to face his attacker, his staff now pointed at her. “Why it always red-heads?” He sighed and slowly spun the staff to encourage people to move out of the way. “Listen here, Red. You don’t wanna piece of this. Why don’t you run on back to Spirit of Halloween and get refund on that costume, cause damn that’s tacky.” He tried to look relaxed as he tensed, ready to spring in an instant.
  21. I rolled bad last time I tried this, but we’ll try again. Taunt: 20 Feint(as move): 12 That -5 killed it. What the heck HP to reroll: 21 Better.

24. Notice for Chimera: 13 Because, of course Second Notice check: 13... Seriously
  25. When a cat-girl suddenly pounced on bird-Owain, the two tumbling several feet before she tossed the shapeshifted bird back into the air. Leon blinked in surprised before laughing out loud at poor Owian's apparent loss at their game. Leon stifled his laughter into a chuckle as he returned Neko's greeting. "Hey Neko. Nice job, I didn't even notice you hiding there." He gave her a friendly smile as he complimented her stealthiness. "She could give us a run for our money." Leon gave Luke a friendly arm punch and chuckled. His roommate could tell Leon was already in 'talking to cute girl' mode. "Ya, but everyone knows cats are better hunters." Leon shameless sided with Neko.
