Blackstaff The runes carved into the the long solid staff of black wood are barely visible under the hotel's lighting as it leans against bar's counter. Beside it, Christopher sat on a stool with a tall glass of a local IP. The wizard had come to town on family matters and had been ready to return to Emerald City, but on the night before he had been planning to return something scratched at the edge of his magical sense. Was it something familiar? He couldn't be sure, but with each passing day he could feel it's presence more and more. He had sent his secretary/office assistant that had come with him home while he stayed to look into whatever it was that was setting him on edge. Asking around it was easy enough to learn about the meeting at the hotel tonight so Christopher had taken it upon himself to invite himself. He hadn't been sure what kind of reception to expect coming from out of town, but the other wielders of magic gathered for the evening were friendly enough.

Both women were fast, Chimera knew this. While she wasn't sure which of them would pull ahead on the flat ground of a track, she only needed to worry about the ten or so feet between them now. Freetsyle's disc had missed her in the thief's struggle to get free and Chimera was watching her cautiously. She could almost feel the agitation from the symbiote. It wasn't something she had even felt before and it was going to take some time to investigate, but that was tomorrow Jennifer's worry not now Chimera's. This standoff couldn't last forever and Chimera just needed to find an opening. And Ghost provided it. The other hero effortlessly drifted between the girls, breaking their eye contact and drawing the other's attention for just a moment. A moment Chimera wasn't going to waste. In a bust of superhuman speed launched herself forward... "God, I hope I'm not wrong about this." She thought even though she was already in motion. She passed through Ghost like he was his namesake, her fist already swinging, driving her fist firmly into Freestlye's stomach. A chill clung to her skin but she wasn't sure if it was the sweat and adrenaline, or from passing through Ghost. Or maybe the office's AC was just set low. Either way goosebumps sent a chill over her exposed flesh.

Ya, I'll switch it to a regular attack. Still can't believe I overlooked that line. ? So Freestyle just needs to make the toughness vs 22 save.

Okay, let’s try this. Slam attack with aid from Ghost: 23 (the roll says 25, by I accidentally added the +2 from charging but that doesn’t apply) Toughness save vs 24 for Freestyle Toughness save vs 19 for Chimera: 18 That’s a bruise for Chimera if it landed and -2 to her defense next round.

Paper “You should know by now Charlie, this boy could snack on the car ride here and still want to hit up the food court.” Pulling up the rear, Leon chuckled as he shook off the last of the rainwater before it could soak in to his coat. “I’d say his eyes were bigger then his stomach, but we all know how big his stomach is.” He teased Luke, giving his back a friendly punch. “I swear you just burn it all with your fire. It’s the only way you could not put on any fat. Do you have any idea how much time I gotta put in to look this good?” Still smirking, he looked back at Charlie. “If we’re voting, I vote for the book store. Back me up here Mui-.” Leon asked the red head as he dodged a couple. an older man in a trench coat, the man looked like had had just rolled out of bed and needed to shave, he was walking with a long stick of black wood. But walking with him was a college age brunette girl, talking as he nodded along, wearing skinny jeans and a Paramore t-shirt. Her hair pulled into a ponytail through the back of a baseball cap sporting the ECU logo. His request trailing off as he watched the other girl for a moment. Realizing he was staring he coughed into his fist and turned his attention back to the group like nothing had happened.

Leon turned away from the board only to find the common room two boys short. James and Owain had slipped away to their room leaving him with only Luke and Simon. ”Guess he doesn’t want competition.” He smirked and wandered back to the couch. ”So you were a street kid.” He looked over at Simon. “Luke and I spent a lot of time on the streets too. You have any questions on how things work nowadays, just ask one of us.”

Leon nodded thoughtfully as Charlie talked. He wouldn’t be surprised if Luke and Muirne agreed quickly, but he didn’t want to look too eager. He looked over at his roommate and cocked an eyebrow. “I ask again, what did that museum ever do to you?” He teased. When Muirne’s shadows started spreading he elbowed Luke to calm her down. Luckily she seemed to regain control of herself. Leon glanced around, but no one was reacting so he relaxed a little and picked up his cup. When Charlie started talking about names he leaned back in his chair and sipped his drink. “Alright, I’m in.” He said casually. “But only if we call the team Paper and his Amazing Friends.” Leon grinned, obviously trying not to laugh.

Chimera tried to hold on to Freestyle, but the woman managed to slip out from her grasp. She glared at the speedy thief, anger welling up again. Then a moment of clarity hit her and the anger started to fade. That wasn't her. She wasn't sure where all the anger had come from but she had seemed to have snapped out of it. Her shoulders relaxed and her posture straightened as she regarded Freestyle. Maybe a different approach might work better. "It's two to one." Chimera said calmly. "You're not getting paid for this now." She motioned at the captive man. "I'll ask once, will you come quietly?" The silvery-grey tendrils along her body began to pulse and move. From her back several more tendrils began to grow and stretch out like spider legs.

"Well there's always the long way back." Leon chuckled and almost immediately regretted. The grin draining from his face. "I'm sorry man." He sat up on the couch and gave James a sympathetic look. "That was pretty cold, even for me." Leon stood up and walked over to the boy from the future. He offered a hand. "There are a lot of heroes out there. Plenty of super smart ones too. Maybe someday you'll find one that can get you home." Putting an arm around James' shoulders. "Until then, mi time period es tu time period." Leon grinned at his own joke then pointed at Luke. "And that sounds like a man with a plan." Leon chuckled. "Owain's right though. You guys should get settled in before we get you in trouble, I mean show you around." He grinned at his roommate mischievously. He glanced over at Owain. "By the way, didn't you say something about a girl arriving with you? She cute?" He asked moving away from James to give the boy some breathing room. He approached the public board to check the posted room assignments, frowning that they only showed the room listings for the first floor. "Don't think I've met your roomie Simon." He commented off-handedly. "Hey Luke, you met this Sharaf kid?"

Paper cursed under his breath as the crimson mist that had been Holly continued to swirl like an angry vortex. Once again red menace slipped easily between the paper he called on in a second attempt to cocoon her. "Man, I'd kill for a giant 'Acme' fan right now." He growled internally. "Wait a minute..." A new idea began to form and he quickly started to formulate a plan he hoped might work.

Leon ate a few more fries as Charlie counted off his reasons. As much as he was reluctant to agree, he had to admit the boy wasn't wrong. Muirne and Luke were friends, and if he'd been there the other times they'd scrapped with Cas's crew he'd have had their backs without a second thought. He took a long sip from his cup as he mulled it over, trying to seem indifferent as he did so. He glances over at Luke and Muirne, frowning a little. They weren't family like Robert and Elizabeth, but he couldn't just let them face off with a jerk like that again without him. Besides, it did sound like it would be fun. Picking up a couple more french fries he paused in thought, then pointed them at Charlie. "Who else do you have lined up for this? I mean, I know I'm good, but you don't seem like the type to put all your money on one bet."

Leon chuckled at Luke's comments and grinned. "Always." He gave James a friendly nod and two finger salute as the other boy joined the gathering. "Hey, James." Catching the paper swan and stuffing it into his pocket as Owain made introductions with James. Leon slipped over to the couch and dropped on to it, giving a Luke a smirk at Owain's disbelief. "Don't go shattering his beliefs in here. There isn't enough room." He chuckled. "You have no idea." Leon smirked, but tried to reassure Simon. "You'll get use to it." Leon looked at James then back at Simon, and thumbed at James and chuckled. "Like that, you'll get use to things like that."

Stealth check: 12 ouch Search check: 16 ... Wow, those are pretty weak. I knew I should have just used his Skill Mastery to take 10 on the stealth. ? But nooo... I figured 'I couldn't possible blow both rolls'. Oh well, let see where these chips land.

Leon nodded as the two boys spoke, only raising an eyebrow when Owain clapped him on the arm. "Well, while there does seem to be more then enough magic wandering around here..." "Some more of a pain in the butt than others..." He inserted under his breath. "Mine is less Harry Potter, and more mind over matter." Leon chuckled as he pulled a piece of paper from inside his hoodie. Holding it by a corner he waved it to show its flimsiness, but then with a quick snap of his wrist he turned it up. The sheet of paper standing up firm and unbending if either of them poked it. After a moment he grins and uses both hand to crumble it into a ball, hiding it in both hands. When he opens them a pristine origami swan sits in his palm. Then, blowing on it gently the paper swan's wings begin to flap and it starts to flutter around in the air.

Leon glared daggers at no one in particular was he carried the last box of his belongings from the room he had shared with Luke for the last year, only to drag it all down the hall to another room on the same floor. "Stupid adults think they're soooo funny." He grumbled mentally. "Bet they're havin' a good old laugh." He sighed as he paused in front of the door to his and Luke's new room. He tilted his head as he noticed the unfamiliar voices from the common room. Opening the door her waved the cardboard box in to land on his bed without looking and closed the door again. He could look for hiding places in the new room later he thought as he stepped into the large common room. His hoodie sported a small cartoon horse with a hourglass design on it, and his jeans were faded. He leaned against the wall as Simon showed off his transformation. He managed not to chuckle at Gawain's manner of speech, like something out of one of his fantasy novels. "Well now, didn't see you two on the tour." He piped up. "Late arrivals?"
