  1. "Trying?" Luke playfully echoed his friend. He shook his head at the mention of his girlfriend, by then, the two knew each other enough not to take Luke's boastful nature in the wrong way. He Raised an eyebrow when his roomate grew paper wings and took up the air as well, "When did you---?" Whatever. He unfolded his own projecting his shadow on the small group as he got ready to take off with a smirk on his draconic lips. He smiled when Angela revealed a pair of dragon wings as well. "Great... You know? You are like the second dragon person I have met in my life at all..." Yeah, who knew right? It would be fun to have someone roughly of the same species around right? "I mean, third if you include my evil doppleganger." The boy grinned, although, considering Lawfyr to be evil was a bit of a stretch, all things considered, in truth, while the two had fought during their first and only encounter when they actually had time to trade a few words he did not seem that bad. "We should have a coffee one of these days." Now that might actually be something that Muirne might not totally be in for, but then again, he was sure that he could explain, given the situation. "And you say I'm the one showing off..." He chuckled when James took of his shirt before his high-tech armor. ... Luke lead the way, giving an aerial tour of the campus, one that, at least in his mind, was way more dynamic than just a walk. "And there is the battle simulator... Once we are done with the tour, we are definitely paying a visit and-" He was interrupted by a pretty familiar voice. "Oh and that one is Coach Armstrong." He pointed at the irate man below. "As you can see I'm his favorite student." He chuckled, yeah, definitely not a lie. "Don't be fooled by his apparent crankiness, when you get to know him..." He took a short pause for dramatic effect. "He his much worse..." "What's up Coach?" He shouted back at the man, taking a large swoop around the campus and lowering his altitude a bit. "And come on Coach. People see my flying all the time. They won't mind..." Plus as far as he knew the school was somehow protected against prying eyes, after all, students did use their power frequently around campus and it was not like anyone seemed to care as much. "I am just showing the rookies our awesome school."
  2. "Yeah... I... If there was a way... I'm sure that the school would have found it." Luke clenched his fists. "F- There must be. I mean... He is just... They can't..." Come on Luke! Matt needs you. "There must be a way free him from them. That's what matters." He nodded, following Chaz into the airport his gaze still hazy, like if he was lost in some sort of trance. Or in a freakin' nightmare. "There." He pointed toward the source of the familiar sensation. Now, of course, had him being thinking straight, he would have waited for Charlie's drone to scout the scene, but truth is, he wasn't. So instead, he darted ahead. "I need to get to him."
  3. Nightscale "Well fire breath, looks like we got someone," "Indeed and it's freakin' ghost on the loose. How is it for your first stake out?" Luke gave Carmen a playful 'I told you so' grin. Now, he wasn't exactly sure that the guy was involved though, from what little he had learned about the current operation, it was pretty secretive and the newcomer well, not so much... "Now, how do we get in hotshot?" As the two Claremonters studied the building they easily noticed that while barred from access by common thieves and potential squatters it was by far not a fortress, one of the lower floor windows was locked, but the walls surrounding it was in such a state of disrepair that it would take little more than the application of their enhanced strength to tear it away. . There were more opportunities on the second floor as well, an open window on a balcony by the side of the building and a crack in the walls that could easily be enlarged enough for them to fit in, with little effort. Finally, while all the other entrances were locked, forcefulness or craftiness on their part could open even the main entrance or any of the side doors if they wanted to. "Easily..." Luke pointed toward the building. "Lady's choice?" He grinned.
  4. GM Inside the Casino Mirror Knight --- As Mirror Knight began navigating the abandoned casino he quickly realized that he was being watched, there were no human eyes hiding in the darkness though, but a couple of cameras freshly placed around the room and far from inactive unlike the army of slot machines that crowded the place. As he progressed toward the theater he kept finding traces in the dusty carpets on the floor, something pretty heavy had been dragged along the way. The same unnatural pull that had drawn him toward the building was growing stronger as he entered the corridor leading to his destination, as his gaze shifted to the walls of the corridor it glanced over someething that looked like a sign, spray painted on the colorful wallpaper. An arrow and a series of bright letters "WELCOME". Finally a door blocked his path. In the background he could feel a faint music playing, one he had already somewhere, perhaps that fateful night...
  5. They all notice that while the place was supposedly abandoned, there are signs that it has power and Mirror Knight also notices cameras inside. Nightscale is gonna Skill Mastery the notice test and roll 20. I'll recap the way ins that both him and La Puma Negra find in the IC post. @MoonSimply Luke will follow Carmen's lead on this one.
  6. Leon and Luke are pretty much tumbling down a slide of coins. Acrobatics or Reflex DC 20 to check how they do so, a fail means a bruise, otherwise they both get to the bottom ok. For Luke it's 27 woah
  7. "Yeah... some fire would be awesome." Luke smiled in the darkness. "I mean... makes us warmer, plus an old timey torch is way more Indiana Jones than a flashlight, Mr Drake." He teased as the boys continued navigating the strange room, their steps among the carpet of coins echoing in the darkness. "Can you imagine how much it can be worth? I mean, it's freakin' tons of gold..." Luke cleared up the wet hair from his brows, not that having his eyes obscured changed anything, but well. "Although, I'm... like... not eager to meet the owner of all of this stuff." Yep, definitely, besides, if someone, or something, was still around to 'own' the treasure, it would have probably set some kind of defense to prevent two random teenagers to steal it, right? The thought sent a shiver down his spine. The cave heartbeat of metallic crashes was getting way closer now, they must have been almost there and with it, perhaps some answers. “I swear, if someone pops out and says ‘Gotcha’ I’m gonna let you punch them right in the face.” "With pleasure..." The boy replied with a tired chuckle. He was about to add something, when his next step proved to be a fateful one, with the 'ground' losing its consistence underneath, together with the mass of coins that surrounded them, forming what felt like a mix of a slide and an avalanche of coins underneath them and dragging both of the boys down into the darkness....
  8. Ok updated and it's Rocket @RocketLordturn and Queenie's can go too if you want @EternalPhoenix (Environmental Effect: Distracting DC 15) Mirror Knight (bruised) - 26 Hp 3 Rocket (no damage) 21 - Hp 4 Queenie (no damage) 15 - Hp 2 Bee Drone 3 (no damage) 16 Bee Drone 2 (no damage) 15 Enthralled Policemen (Paralyzed) 15 Crystal-Gazer (no damage) 11 - Hp 2 Bee's (no damage) 11 - HP 3 Drone Swarm (no damage) 10 Bee Drone 4 (no damage) 9 Other Enthralled Civilians (Paralyzed) 3
  9. The swarm continued to react to the invasion of Freedom's heroes in its territory. The army of bee-sized drones distracted itself from its work and turned to Queenie and Lulu, focusing the technology they were using to disassemble the vehicles against them, much likely planning to turn the two heroes into building materials for more mechanic insects. Meanwhile, the remaining drone finally entered the fray and aims a blast of energy toward Mirror Knight while the trapped journalists enthralled by the buzzing kept struggling against their prison, but with little success.
  10. @Tiffany Korta Bee is temporary dazed by the droning and delays. (Let me know when you can post though) The bee Swarm is going to disperse over the rough area where Crystal Gazer and Queenie are and attack them with their matter disassembler rays. It's a general area attack, DC 20 Reflexes to half (or avoid if they have evasion) and DC 20 (15) Fortitude to resist Drain Toughness. @Heritage and @EternalPhoenix Drone 4 is gonna attack Mirror Knight it's 23 to hit (and 12 against the 50% miss chance), it's a DC 25 Toughness save. @Exaccus Then you can go followed by Rocket @RocketLord The enthralled civilians are paralyzed and can't do much. (Environmental Effect: Distracting DC 15) Mirror Knight (no damage) - 26 Hp 4 Rocket (no damage) 21 - Hp 4 Queenie (no damage) 15 - Hp 2 Bee Drone 3 (no damage) 16 Bee Drone 2 (no damage) 15 Enthralled Policemen (Paralyzed) 15 Crystal-Gazer (no damage) 11 - Hp 2 Bee's (no damage) 11 - HP 3 Drone Swarm (no damage) 10 Bee Drone 4 (no damage) 9 Other Enthralled Civilians (Paralyzed) 3
  11. hehe good both are saved and it's Neko and Owain's turn @Avenger Assembled
  12. Our heroes can roll Notice to get some more info on the scene if you like
  13. GM As Mirror Knight stepped inside, the eerie atmosphere of an abandoned place welcomed him at first. The entrance opened into a vast room covered in dust, once hosting a myriad of glowing and ringing machines, now quiet and deprived of power, plenty of the original gambling devices still remained, covered in blankets, dividing the room in a sort of spectral maze of decaying machinery. On his left was a bar as well as the booths were the croupiers exchanged real cash for colorful plastic chips. A large, ornate stairway lead upward toward a second floor while an half broken sign indicated that a theater to the right as well as a dance floor not long after. The place however, was not just a an abandoned temple of greed and excess, there were traces in the dust someone had been there not too long before, a day or two at most perhaps. Someone have been both to the theater and the bar. --- As for La Puma Negra and Nightscale, they inspected the building from outside, the door was locked and so where the windows on the first floor, all the locks seemed new, nothing that an application of super strength could not deal with though, albeit, not exactly silently. On the second floor, the situation was the same, but perhaps, with an attentive eye they could more easily catch an opening there...
  14. Nightscale "That depends, criminals aren't always punctual you know." Luke chuckled, turning for a moment to face Carmen. "Don't worry this is not gonna be borin'" Well... Maybe? It was not Nightscale first stakeout and to be honest, if nothing happened, those kind of things weren't exactly exciting. "Not too boring at least." He grinned. "The ass kicking should be startin' soon." He added playfully and prophetically perhaps as the teens' attention was soon drawn to a guy who had just materialized in the middle of the parking lot. "See..." He smirked, pointing at the fellow who had just appeared. He gave a bit of a disappointed look though, when the guy just passed through the door not unlike a ghost. "Well... I guess we are gonna have to find another way in..."
  15. ”If you want, we can go back and teach those guys a lesson.” Luke chuckled in return. "You have no idea how many times I have thought about that." He grinned. "It'd be kinda unfair though, I mean..." He flexed his muscles. Yeah, besides he had used enough of his powers for petty revenge before Claremont anyway, he had to resist, no matter how tempting... Not long after the two boys decided to get back to their subterranean navigation, it wasn't exactly easy to swim while carrying his soccer ball (especially keeping it away from the fangs of Chewy that was definitely interested in their new acquisition), but all in all, with the exception perhaps of the cold temperature of the water, it wasn't too bad. Eventually, the two boys got to what looked like a small lake, in a larger cave. The light that had illuminated their way during the swim however, was now gone. Luke pulled himself up from the the ledge and then offered his hand to help Leon up to join him. "I wish we can make a fire or somehin..." Yeah, anything to dry himself up really. Luke shivered. Fortunately the only clacking sounds in the darkness were made by Chewy followed cheerfully, their detour must have shaken away the monsters, for now at least. After a few steps into the darkness, Leon could feel Luke flinching, his foot had sank a little in the ground, producing a metallic sound, it didn't take much for them to realize that ahead of them the terrain was no longer just a layer of rocks and dirt, instead it was covered by a layer a few inches deep of small metallic disks. Coins... Not unlike the one they have found at the bottom of the river. "What the...?" The boy knelt, testing the ground with his hand, grabbing a handful of the coins. "I guess we are rich now, man..." He chuckled.
  16. GM Smoke and Mirrors Abandoned Casino Midnight La Puma Negra and Nightscale Once as glamorous and luxurious as the other casinos in the renowned Freedom City Boardwalk, the Smoke and Mirrors have been abandoned for ages. In fact, Nightscale couldn't remember a time when the large lot hadn't been left to disrepair. It's halls only occasionally disturbed by Southside teens testing their bravado, Luke himself having spent 'almost' an entire night there in his younger years, struggling to put up a mask of courage while twitching at every moving shadows and unexpected creek in the dark. Where once music boomed, spectacles reigned, fortunes were won and lost now only silence and rats reigned and it had been so for year. Not that night though. Something... well something had changed. Nightscale had been warned by his friends that unmarked vans now frequently stopped at the casino in the wee hours in the morning for mysterious deliveries and that new locks had been installed at the windows and doors, the place now the province of some unknown buyer. Now perhaps there was nothing sinester going on, maybe someone was just planning a grand reopening in secret, but even at his young age Luke had been a superhero for long enough to grow at least a bit suspicious and besides, it was not like that taking a look wouldn't hurt. Perhaps in a rare bout of foresight, or maybe just due to the memories of that frightful nocturne exploration a few years before, the Southside Dragon had decided that not to go alone, instead asking Carmen to join him in this mission, and so there they were, on a rooftop nearby studying the darkened building from above, planning their next moves. Mirror Knight The two teenagers from Claremont however were not alone, as another hero stalked the streets. Mr Jonathan Rorrim had been drawn to the Smoke and Mirrors, not by rumors and mysterious dealing though, it was something more primal, a dimensional disturbance of sort that he had registered at the site, one that at the same time was unknown and yet dreadfully familiar. He could not tell how, but he was certain of a presence hiding within the bowel of the building, one bearing a nefarious intent.
  17. While the robotic drones tried unsuccessfully to retaliate against the intervening heroes with beams of energy from their stingers the entangled policemen struggled against their bindings, but they could not escaped Mirror Knight prison of reflections. One burst came dangerously close to Rocket, but the hero was just too fast, easily evading the attack. --- Meanwhile, as Lulu senses flowed into the facility she found herself struggling against the powerful buzzing inside, her mind, attuned to psychic patterns, quickly realized that the frequency was somehow designed to affect the minds of those who listened to it. The place was barely recognizable as a laboratory anymore as the wax-like substance had covered much of the architecture, while a strange golden gel formed complex honeycomb circuit patterns that had seemingly merged with the electrical grid of the building as the scientific equipment within for some unknown purpose. More robotic drones patrolled the facility, their striped carapaces sporting lines of different colors, much likely signifiers of the type of model, or role among the swarm. Normal-sized metallic bees infested the place as well. The personnel of the laboratory, roughly fifty people as far as she could see, seemed unharmed, mostly inhabiting the innermost rooms of the complex, all enthralled, not unlike the policemen outside, their stares empty, as if in wait for a command from their robotic masters. Given more time, she could probably dig even deeper within the facility, however, not without the risk of being affected by the mental effect of the buzzing.
  18. Grinning Nightscale surveyed the chaos inside. Well done team. Now unfortunately no one was in range of his claws anymore and he could not change back and jump in as Neko would suddenly found herself without a ride. Breathing fire was out of the question as well, with the hostages around. Still, he did have a new trick up his sleeve. It was the Phantom herself that had taught him how to draw deeper into his natural reserve of supernatural power. Bright light flared powerfully into his massive golden eyes as his will surged in to try and overpower the mind of one the attending supervillains.
  19. Terrified for his life and blinded by nightmarish Illusions Mr. Tak couldn't do much, but whimper, it was hard to miss the other Masked sneering at him from their positions. The ring of fire that he had conjured appeared to flicker out of existence and as she safely walked in, Neko noticed that it had failed to burn anything on the ground, unlike the meteoric descent of Fiery Fury moments before. However, it didn't take much for the ring to reform itself once she had crossed it. Her senses picking up a magic similar to Tak in nature asserting itself, much likely from another one of the Masked. "Look, people! We have another contender! How unexpected!" The ringmaster booming voice echoed again in the makeshift arena as Neko herself joined the fray. "Perhaps it's time for master's surprise to get into the fray..." She smiled as the three headed tiger creature that have been waiting at her feet growled menacingly. "No need hon. We got them." Fiery Fury boasted from within the ring as she finally succeeded in liberating her massive sword from the now half molten ground and took a powerful swing toward the feline superhero. Still soaring in the sky, the Gentleman decided to shift the target of his offensive, conjuring another storm of knives and aiming the deadly swarm of telekinetic projections at Chimera. "It'm sorry miss, but it's impolite to distract one-selves from a fight." He quipped. --- "I'm sure that the master would be intrigued to meet you as well, Doctor." Ms. Nagi smiled at the young Russian shapeshifter. "And I am glad that you have chosen to assist. When this is all settled I'll provide you with an invitation to a more... shall we say... exclusive event, the Master will be there as well as plenty among the city 'notables'." She smirked. She waved at him as Horrorshow left the backstage, while her own goons moved in to assist the ones that he had easily taken down not long before. Once outside, it was hard to miss the circle of flames and the spotlights that illuminated the area where fight was taking place. Meanwhile Chain Lightning seemed to show little interest in the confrontation, busy as she was with a drink and a small crowd of admirers. Uncle Sasha on the other side was watching the 'match' from a safe distance among the crowd.
  20. Ok so Mr. Tak is terrified and won't do anything, a couple of new goons however are joining the scene to drag him away. The ring of fire around the arena flickers out of existence for a short while allowing Neko to join the fray, but then another of the Masked picks up the slack and renew them not long after. Ms. Nagi and the other people in the backstage are no longer involved in the fight at the moment so I have removed them from the initiative. Horrorshow can see that Chain Lightning at the moment is enjoying a drink and chatting with some wealthy looking patrons not too far from the backstage. He can also see Owain and Chimera fighting with The Gentleman and Fiery fury under the spotlight and notice that Neko is nearby as well. His uncle is still observing the fight. Fiery Fury sees Neko join the Arena and sneers at her. She also manages to free her massive sword from the ground and swings at her with a 22 to hit. She is pretty strong. Save DC is 25. @Avenger Assembled You can roll the save and go. The Gentleman decides to throw a shower of force knives at Chimera instead. And is pretty luck with a 27 to hit. Thanks to autofire, the toughness save DC is 24 ouch @Spacefurry 26 - Mr Tak (no damage) - Scared and blinded 19 - The Gentleman (bruised) 18 - Fiery Fury (no damage) 14 - Neko (no damage) - 3 HP 13 - Owain (bruised) 11 - Horrorshow's (Bruised) - 1 HP 4 - Chimera (no damage) - 3 HP 3 - Gorilla Goon A 3 - Gorilla Goon B
  21. @Tiffany Korta it's Bee's turn Hehe I have confused her for one of the enemies in the initiative order or I'd have asked you to go with Heri... (Environmental Effect: Distracting DC 15) Mirror Knight (no damage) - 26 Hp 4 Rocket (no damage) 21 - Hp 4 Queenie (no damage) 15 - Hp 2 Bee Drone 3 (no damage) 16 Bee Drone 2 (no damage) 15 Enthralled Policemen (Paralyzed) 15 Crystal-Gazer (no damage) 11 - Hp 2 Bee's (no damage) 11 - HP 3 Drone Swarm (no damage) 10 Bee Drone 4 (no damage) 9 Other Enthralled Civilians (Paralyzed) 3
  22. "Yeah... He had been there for a while." Hopefully he hadn't hurt anyone. Luke frowned again. His eyes focused on the horizon toward his missing friend. "I dunno... He... he is not in control of himself." That was messed up. "Whoever did this...." Is not more guilty than I am... "They can like, force him to do what they want through the implants." "I hoped that school could do something about it. But not even there..." Even with all the superscience and powers available they couldn't...
  23. “This? This shouldn’t be here. This shouldn’t be anywhere…” Luke gave his friend a puzzled look, tilting his head slightly. How? It was there right? Then again, this place very clearly wasn't normal. What the- Is going on? “But it shouldn’t be here. When I was 8, my mother was reading it to me before bed, trying to pretend her son wasn’t a freak…” As he listened to his friend's narration, the boy found short on words. Himself, well, his family never had much, damn himself he had been kidnapped from gods know where and yet, the Landers were very close. Sure they had their moments when things didn't work out (like when Luke decided to use his superpowers to play gangster), but in truth, he could not imagine mom and dad not being in his corner.... He could barely imagine how painful it could have been for Leon. "Hey I'm sorry man..." Gently he squeezed his friend's shoulders as if to quietly say that he was there for him. "You are not a freak by the way..." He added shortly thereafter. "A bit quirky maybe." Luke teased his Leon, with a genuine smile. "Or a lot..." He chuckled. It was then that he realized that his friend's arm had changed back, but he said nothing, after all, it was Leon's choice if he wanted to delve on the matter. “How is this possible?” "I dunno..." His gaze shifted toward the batter soccer ball that was still in his arms. "It's like... stuff we have lost or somethin'..." "This must... It has to be right?" So many hours spent pretending to be a pro-player on the concrete lot of the trailer park with his dad. "I got this when I was a little kid I... Damn I cried so much when that ass took it." He clearly remembered it now. The smirk of older kid who just stole what was at the time, his favorite toy, himself, looking with teary eyes from the ground, with just bruises as rewards from trying to take it back. A lesson, in how the world works. "I..." Well, the conclusions that he had taken about it at the time didn't make him proud today. "This thing though. I have no freakin' idea." He said, taking the strange smooth polished and seemingly obsidian shard in his hand, still, it gave him the same sense of familiarity as the soccer ball. Weird. He shrugged. "You think we should keep some of this stuff?"
  24. Well Nightscale is gonna switch his Dragon! Array around and try one of the new tricks: Mind Control 9 (Extras: Conscious, Duration [Sustained]; Flaws: Sense Dependant [Sight]) {27PP/36} On the bug guy (if he can see him) and send him to keep the glowy eyed villain busy. However the guy also gets a DC 19 reflex save to negate tg(by closing his eyes or something as Nightscale needs eye contact to start controlling people). If he doesn't save the power check is 23 opposed by the target will save.
