  1. Ghule Prime Mover: 1 post = 1 point Deck the Halls!: 1 GM
  2. Prime Mover (Exiting the limo with all the other Claremonters) The excitement in the air was intoxicating as Owen exited the limo, taking a moment to privately adjust his power vest. He really hoped his volatile powers wouldn't "flare up" tonight, but he just had to remind himself to stay calm. "I didn't know that either, Lynn. That's pretty wild stuff." He decided to drop the subject pretty quickly, as Lynn was probably asked about it all the time. Owen's eyes lit up as he saw the Freedom League's headquarters for the first time in person. He couldn't help but stare, watching other superheroes from across Freedom City arrive in all their finery. "My folks won't believe this..." he mused to himself as he took out his phone and snapped a few quick pictures. He grinned at Mattie's infectious enthusiasm. She was his kind of person, he could tell already. As if on cue, Owen's stomach rumbled. "I definitely agree. I wanna eat so much I'm the one hibernating," he said, gently nudging Jack with his elbow. He hadn't met a lot of the Claremont students that were in the limo, but he hoped tonight would be a better chance to get to know all of them. They were all heroes, and at the very least they had that in common. Velocity approached the group, and hugged her adopted daughter. Aww. As she correctly guessed everyone in the group's name, Owen's inner fanboy threatened to show himself. She knows my name! Velocity of the Freedom League knows my name! Owen tried not to freak out. He approached Velocity with as much courage as he could muster, and extended his hand to her. It was hard to make direct eye contact with a member of the Freedom League, but he tried his best. "Thank you for having us," Owen said stiffly, but politely, his nerves betraying him. "It really is an honor to be here."
  3. Prime Mover (In the limo with Slipstream, Arctus, Cerebral, Spore, Seraphim, and other Claremont students) Owen was ecstatic! The young man did his best to look relaxed and comfortable, but he couldn't wait to be at the Freedom League Christmas Party. Even thinking about it was making his heart race. He recognized a few of the teens in the limo from his dorm or from training in the Danger Room. He also couldn't help but feel underdressed, especially compared Lynn. He blushed as he briefly glanced over at her. She was dressed to the nines, while Owen was dressed in a pair of plain khaki slacks, nice brown loafers, and a red-and-green plaid fleece-lined shirt to keep nice and warm. He brought a heavy jacket too, which was quickly abandoned on his bed when he realized the winters in Freedom City weren't nearly as cold as Wisconsin. Owen grinned. He shared Mattie's enthusiasm for sure. "Me neither! I was just gonna fly here but dis right here is way more stylish. Really somethin', huh?" Truth be told, Owen felt much more at ease with his new heroic friends, but he was nervous to meet the major players in the Freedom City superhero scene. It helped that his fellow Claremonters were there with him, and he intended to stay close to them for as long as possible. "Oh yah, I did hear there was some good food at these sorta shindigs. You two have been here before?"
  4. GM Owen greeted his new friend, and the four of them went inside Pizano's. The pictures he found on Google described the place perfectly. The homey atmosphere, checkered tablecloths, the celebrity photos, and the overall welcoming atmosphere, as well as the tantalizing smell of fresh pizza that assailed their senses as they entered. The few customers that were eating gave the four of them an odd look, especially the pirate and gobbelyn. But Owen strode confidently to the counter, and pointed to the menu above the counter. An older gentleman in the back, presumably the owner, was tossing dough into the air, spinning and catching it with the ease of an expert. The menu was relatively simple. There was a small list of specialty pizzas: meat lover's pizza, "the works", margherita, triple cheese, and chicken alfredo, nothing unconventional. Another section of the menu showed the prices for a build-your-own pizza with a list of toppings. But the thing that caught their eye was a full-color photo of a "Freedom City Special": a massive square pizza with four sections, each with their own toppings. As the young men were looking over the menu, the older man in the back came up to the front. He did not bat an eye at them, but simply asked: "Help you boys with something?"
  5. Ghule Vik couldn't believe it, and she just stood there for a moment as Leon turned around. She had gotten to know him a little bit, but this was completely out of character for him. Superheroes didn't intimidate young women. Unless he's being mind-controlled or has an evil twin, he's got some explaining to do! "Leon, what the hell, man?" She was even more confused when the woman he was pinning to the wall changed her tone and called over another guy. Vik pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to figure out exactly what her and her friends walked into. "Okay, okay. Let's back up for one moment. Leon, you know that what we just saw looks bad. You can start explaining yourself, now." To emphasize her point, she smacked her fist into the palm of her hand.
  6. Prime Mover At this point, Owen was not remotely surprised to see the twins wearing their typical pirate garb, armed with swords. He was glad to see them, yes, but he worried about how well they were fitting in at school. After all, Riel was his roommate, and as much as he tried, the young pirates just weren't really understanding Earth culture. He tried to reign that in, telling himself that they weren't from around here, but hopefully this hangout would help them. Owen took a second, furtive glance at Kadene, noticing how well she pulled off the pirate look. She was pretty, but was his roommate's sister. His armed roommate's sister. "Hey Riel, Kadene. Thanks fer coming. Yeah, I got everyone covered today. Heard this place was real good, so hope you two enjoy it. Apparently Freedom City has some pretty amazing pizza, don'tcha know. Hope the drive weren't too bad, or, well...not sure if yah took the ship." Owen sighed, but he wasn't surprised at this entrance either. "Hey, Gookgak. You work up an appetite riding here?" There would be no teaching Gookgak how to behave in polite society, that was for sure. But he liked the little gobbelyn, and was glad to invite him along, even if it probably meant they would all be banned on a lifetime basis from Pizano's. "Y'know, I tink I'd rather not go in the sewer. That's not really a thing humans do, mostly 'cuz it's unsanitary and unsafe down there. Have you had pizza before, Gookgak?" he asked, quite eager to change the subject. "We're just waitin' on Luke now, but he should be here shortly."

  8. GM Saturday Afternoon in November 2024 Outside Pizano's Pizzaria, Grenville Owen was the first to the pizza shop, and he sat nervously on the curb. Despite his roommate, his sister, and Gookgak not having a phone, he was able to arrange a time to get pizza with them. Joining them was Luke, also known as Nightscale, a Claremont graduate he met recently. Owen was dressed in a solid color maroon T-shirt and jeans, and his new Converse sneakers tapped a relentless rhythm against the pavement as he bounced his knee. He was a bit nervous, not just about being out in the city for the first time, but hanging with his new friends. His first few months at Claremont had been a whirlwind of classes, training, and meeting new people. This was really the first chance he had to get out into the city and not worry about what was coming up with his classes, and he couldn't help but keep his head on a swivel as he took in the new sights and sounds. Speaking of new sights, Owen had to constantly remind himself that Riel and his twin weren't from this dimension, and nor was Gookgak. Maybe Luke would be able to balance the group out... The restaurant they were meeting at was a small, family-owned pizza shop called Pizano's. Owen had never been there, of course, but their online ratings were stellar. The shop had seating for around 50, with a red-and-white checkered tile floor and photographs on the wall of celebrities that had eaten there. The prices were reasonable too, something that Owen was definitely aware of. I'll really need to get a job soon...
  9. Ghule "Sounds like a good idea, Charlie. That one is definitely a lot of fun, and really quotable," she said, withholding any quotations until they came up in the movie. Muirne hadn't seen many movies before, and she definitely didn't want to spoil that one. Vik shook her head and smiled at the boys teasing each other. If that was their way of keeping each other in check, she supposed there was no harm in it, but Leon was sometimes pretty harsh on Charlie. But if that's what makes the team work, then who was she to judge? "Holidays are weird, Leon. Even before I became...this, it was always a weird time for my family. Not to speak of the ones I had in juvie..." She grimaced a little with the memory, but was glad that those difficult days were behind her. "But it'll be good to spend Christmas with you all. Or, well. You know, if you have a Christmas party or anything like that. I think that's what people do when they work together, right?" "And, uhh, to answer your question, Leon? No, you all aren't making me uncomfortable. I'm glad you all are happen with each other, seriously. It's good to be able to have someone to share your life with, you know?" Vik looked a little embarrassed as she continued to speak: "To be honest, I feel like I've just gotten used to my condition, so dating isn't really something that's been on my mind lately anyway. Unless one of you knows a really sexy ghoul that's single and ready to mingle," she said with a halfhearted chuckle.
  10. Prime Mover Owen grinned as his roomie gave the small gobbelyn a piece of his mind. Well, to be fair, the little guy was snooping...Riel can be very headstrong, but it's good to know he's got our back. "Yeah, ya are pretty sneaky. In the brief time I've known you, you've already surprised me a few times. What do you think, roomie? Can he hang with us?" he said, lightly teasing Gookgak. "Never hurts to have someone...with interesting skills on our team." He just moved in that day, but Owen was already looking forward to hanging out with his new friends. This was sure to be an unusual first year! "But if yer offering, I'd love some popcorn. Thanks Gookgak!"
  11. Prime Mover Owen couldn't believe his eyes - the little goblin had managed to magically sneak into their room. But why?! "Okay, Gookgak. That's enough. I was just explainin' to Riel here why you gotta follow the rules, and sneaking into someone's room without their permission is definitely one of those things you shouldn't do. People don't put booby traps...okay, well, some people have security systems, but you still shouldn't sneak into people's rooms like that! Besides, Riel an' me were havin' a private conversation, so...that's kinda hurtful, to be honest." "And it's called popcorn."
  12. Ghule Although Vik was vaguely interested in what was going on with the daytime drama, the young woman being pinned against the shop window stood out to her like a sore thumb. "Oh hell no," she muttered to herself as she stomped towards them. That was not going to happen on her watch! She walked up to the young man and grabbed his shoulder, and spun him around to face her. "Hey #$$hole, you got a problem? The young lady clearly doesn't want to talk to you, so why don't you take a hike?" Regardless of the consequences of making herself more visible to the public (especially the large crowd gathered for the show), she couldn't let that stand one moment longer. She crossed her arms and gave the young man a mean look, one that she had practiced through her years of juvie. He wasn't the only one that could scare someone with their presence!

  15. Prime Mover Owen sighed inwardly as Captain Hook stalled the conflict...for now. He watched as the pirates returned to the ship, secretly impressed with the authority Hook had over his men. If only it were that easy with Riel and his sister... He whispered to Riel, "I hope you know what you're doing. 'Cuz if you lose, we're gonna have to fight every last one-a these pirates, an' I'm not liking our odds." He didn't trust the other pirates, of course, and frankly Riel played things a little too close to the chest for Owen's liking. This wasn't the kind of thing that you could settle with a game, but if anyone could do it, it was his lucky roommate. He had to remind himself that this wasn't his world (quite literally) and they played by different rules. He kept his attention on the rest of the pirates, waiting for one of them to make a move. Owen knew that if Captain Hook didn't like the outcome, there was nothing stopping him from just attacking them right then and there. So if there was to be a fight, Owen wanted to be ready at a moment's notice.
