  1. Okay, Flux, Queenie, Traveller and Galvanic are getting a Hero Point for that bit of GM fiat
  2. GM Aboard the Lor Research Station The robed figured remained still, showing no reaction to the statements or actions of the heroes in front of it. "I know well who you are Sitara Shashikala." It replied as Traveller introduced herself. "This station is inconsequential, I am here to obtain power I need to help me capture the key to defeating Collapse. I cannot allow you to interfere with this, and you Praetorians have already once prevented me from capturing the key." As the figure finished speaking, it raised one arm, its hands lost within the long sleeves of its robe as it appeared to gesture. Before any of the gathered heroes could react, the area around them began to blur, as the space station and the figure began to fade from view. Suddenly, the four found themselves standing underneath a dark night sky, standing on rocky ground. The sudden change of location was punctuated by the booming sound of several nearby explosions, flashes of light and smoke in the near distance marking the locations of those explosions. Several beams of energy flashed in the darkness above them, crisscrossing overhead before continuing on in two different directions. The four heroes had somehow been transported into the middle of a battle. As Traveller looked at the chaos around her she began to recognize the battle. It was one in a war she had fought in over a thousand years before she had first joined the Praetorians during the height of the Delezatri Empire…
  3. Veronica As the group briefly split up to put their things away and get ready to assist with the dig for the remainder of the afternoon, Veronica and Prudence followed Elizabeth into the pod designated for them. Prudence placed her bags over near a single bed set up against one wall, while Veronica walked over to an open area on the other side of the pod. Unlike Elizabeth or Prudence, Veronica was carrying no luggage, not even her typical well-worn backpack she carried around campus. Being one of the other magic using students at Claremont, Elizabeth knew Veronica had been spending some time studying the extra-dimensional space that their classmate Danica used to store things. After a bit of experimentation, Veronica had managed to create a similar storage space of her own. Drawing her hand in a circle, Veronica caused a small hole to form in the air in front of her and she reached in to pull out her hammock. Letting the hole close once more, Veronica quickly hung up the hammock, given she did not need to change as her typical day-to-day wear was exactly what she normally wore when she was off at places such as this. Once she had finished with the hammock, Veronica gain accessed the extra-dimensional storage space, pulling out her worn backpack which she slung onto her back before they made their way back outside to the waiting Dr. Nassry and Kam as he came out of his pod. As Elizabeth admitted to not having any tools for assisting in the dig, Dr. Nassry gave a small smile. "Not to worry. We should have some extra tools that you will be able to use." The small group then made its way over to the dig site and back out into the warm afternoon sun. While not as hot as it could get during the summer months, the weather was still quite a bit warmer than Freedom City had been. As they approached the dig, Dr. Naasry pointed out the sections of the temple complex that had been unearthed so far and explained the work that they were doing to try to further uncover more of the complex as well as search for any artifacts that might be buried within the sands as well. They stopped by a large table on which were arrayed a number a pottery shards and a few small carved stone items which the doctor talked briefly about as examples of the types of artifacts the group might be likely to find during the dig and how to excavate and handle them. The three Claremont students were also introduced to two individuals who had been photographing the artifacts before getting ready to box them up, two graduate students, one from the University of Cairo, the other from the University of Berlin. Then Dr. Nassry took them down into the current excavation site, introducing them to some more of the volunteers working on the dig before directing them toward a section that they could work on. The area had already been marked off into several grids with bits of string and stakes, Veronica explaining the system used to track where any artifacts, wall sections or any other important discovery within the dig site. Then the trio each selected one of the marked grids and began to work at excavating the area, Veronica providing any pointers if asked. "Not exactly the most thrilling of pursuits," Veronica said with a small grin, "but still important work. Besides, you never know when you might find some rare item lost in the sands. In any event, things should be more exciting tonight when we make our way back into burial chambers within the pyramid."
  4. Veroncia Veronica gave a small smile at Liz's excitement about sharing one of the Eco-Pods. "Sure, top bunk is all yours. I will be good with my hammock." The teenage Danger replied. Liz had been to Veronica and Janus' room at Claremont and knew Veronica did not sleep in her bed at the school. Instead, she had raised her bed up as high as it would go, but instead of using the area underneath as a study desk, she had hung her hammock there and used the bed as something of a storage area. Dr. Nassry gave a small nod at Kam and Liz's questions. "Yes, there is security. It is lighter during the day but is increased at night." He replied to Kam's questions. "And we do have some cameras covering the more important sections of the dig site and camp." He then added. "Well, shall we drop off our stuff and head out to start helping with the excavation some to keep up appearances?" Veronica asked, clearly ready to get started.
  5. Synapse Dee gave Lulu a small smile as the teen talked about her time visiting London with the Harrows. "Well, there are certainly worse movies set and filmed in London to idolize and want to visit featured locations." She replied. "And while going someplace new with people that know it and can act as guides can be enjoyable, there is also a lot to be said about exploring someplace new on your own." As Lulu made her response to the mental conversation, the Englishwoman slightly arched an eyebrow before she made a mental reply. <A bit of friendly advice, when meeting a telepath you do not know who claims to know your guardians, or anyone else you know well, it is still a good idea not to be too free with information. You never know when they might be an intelligence operative or someone else trying to obtain information. I did not know that Megan was a powers, though I had some suspicions.> Dee then gave Lulu a questioning look. <And is algebra a problem?>
  6. GM By the time Starshot had made his way back up to the Xeno's bridge Soreen had begun the sensor sweeps of the area. She looked over toward him as he made his way into the room. "Well, I have locked onto the pirate’s compound up in the mountains. It is pretty good sized, like a small fortress. There are a number of populated settlements in the mountains around it, which must be those Edestekai we were told they have tricked into working in their mines." "So, anything in particular you are wanting to look for?"
  7. Veronica Dr. Nassry gave a warm smile at Kam's formal greeting, giving a slight bow to the regal teen. As they started off towards their quarters, the archeologist responded to Liz’s question. "Things are going rather well. The excavation of the temple complex here has revealed a number of rooms with writings which will likely keep teams busy for years translating and interpreting. But of course nothing nearly as exciting as the discoveries we made when Veronica and her family was last here." For the most part, the actual "camp" of the location was rather quite right now, the most of the activity being over at the nearby excavation site. There was a large tent with its sides rolled up looking out toward the excavation site, several long tables with multiple chairs set up underneath in what appeared to be a dining area. There were a number of other smaller tents that appeared to be used for storage nearby. Just past then tents were a collection of rectangular structures, about half a dozen, arranged around an open area in the center where there was a large covering set up to provide shade around a number of camp chairs. As they drew closer, Liz and Kam saw that the rectangular structures where about the size of cargo shipping containers, but had been refurbished into living quarters. Each had a sliding door on the side, those that were open reveling a nicely furnished room inside. There was a section of solar panels on the roof of each of the containers. As the group came to the covered area in the center, Dr. Nassry pointed toward a structure to the left with its door open. "That pod over there has been set up for you ladies." He stated, glancing at Veronica, Liz and Prudence. "And for the young gentleman, we have a bed just across the way." He then added, pointing over towards structure directly across from the first on the other side of the covered area between. Prudence glanced at the various structures set up around the covered area in the center. "There are not enough eco-pods for all the workers you have at the dig." She observed. Dr. Nassry gave a small nod. "The majority of the workers are lodging in town and are bused out each day. With the three of you, there will only be about a dozen of us here overnight." "That should work perfectly then." Veronica replied with a nod of her own.
  8. Veronica Danger Veronica was glad Corinne did not hesitate to change into Zenith and make her way back up topside to help, putting up a dome to try to stop the Sky Pirates. But then the cannons from the sky ships smashed through the dome. Glancing back at Vegas, Veronica gave a few last orders. "Make sure everything is in containment. Get the auto defenses active and be ready if we can take out whatever they are using to jam communication." The teenage Danger then ran over to a Danger Cycle she had seen parked nearby on the way in. Climbing onto the motorcycle, she swiped her ID card and the engines roared to life. Of course, a motorcycle was not going to help get her or anyone else up to the sky ships. So, with a flick of a switch, the wheels of the Danger Cycle rotated as anti-gravity generators went active and the vehicle began to hover. Zooming forward low to the ground, Veronica pulled up near Àjàṣorò and Micah. "I can give you a lift Àjàṣorò." She stated with a grin, gesturing over her shoulder with one thumb to the space on the seat behind her.
  9. Actually Cape, the DC for the attack was only 27, so Hornet is fine. Tsunami makes her Fort save with a 24.
  10. Tsunami Tsunami was crouched down in the shadows just outside the room in the hallway that had led them all here. Unfortunately like Dust Devil she could not understand what these men were saying, so instead she just focused on observing them, paying particular interest to the two men that were studying the Atlantean writing on the far wall. Once one of those men spoke to the others and indicated one of the other exits, the Asian young woman decided it might be time to take a more direct approach in finding out what was going on. She presently had the means of stopping the Nazis from making their way further into the ruins, so this might be the time to learn what it was they were searching for. Raising up one hand, Tsunami pulled most of the water from the pool in the room into the air, quickly guiding it over toward the archway the Nazis appeared to be preparing to enter. Once the water reached the archway, is spread out to form a barrier covering the exit, once again taking a solid appearance as the water had that had protected the store clerk during the robber back in San Diego. Standing up, Tsunami took a few steps forward into the light, her watery forcefield once again in place, shimmering across her body. "I hope that you can understand English." She said aloud. "I would like to know what it is you are doing in these ruins."
  11. GM The two heroes moved forward, Dust Devil being able to move further into the room than Tsunami given his present form. Inside the pair found the group of Nazis spread out through a large room with a ceiling that rose up to over twenty feet above them and just visible in the light of their torches. At the end of the room opposite the hallway they all had traveled down was a large pool of water along a wall covered in more of the unusual Atlantean writing. To either side of the pool were two open archways, seemingly leading further into the ruins. A pair of the Nazis had waded into the water and where holding a torch near the writing covered wall, apparently trying to read what was there. The others were keeping an uneasy watch on the two other doorways. Now that he was able to better get a look at these men, Dust Devil noted that their complexions appeared slightly darker than one might expect for a German. Additionally, their uniforms were slightly faded, with apparent patchwork to them in places, giving the impression that they were rather old. After a few minutes, the two men reading the writings on the wall near the pool of water appeared to find what they were looking for. One of them turned back towards the others, stating something in German and then pointing toward the archway toward the right. The others turned in that direction and started to move toward the archway.
  12. Synapse Dee just gave a small grin as Lulu admitted to having drank before in the past. "Well, nothing wrong with living a little." She replied before taking a sip of her drink. <To family that we can easily ignore.> She responded to the mental toast. "So, how are you enjoying your stay in London so far?" The Englishwoman asked the teen. "Been around to many of the sights yet?" As the same time she continued their mental conversation. <So, a Southern telepathy from a young age who's abilities were exploited by family and now lives with a prominent family in Freedom City, which just so happens to have the largest concentration of superpowered individuals on the planet. Does not seem like much of a coincidence.>
  13. Tsunami Hornet's revelation that he had been behind the Tong attack on Tsunami and her fellow Claremont student in Freedom City shortly after she had first started at Claremont did not cause any reaction from the young Asian woman. Even if what he was saying were true, the young woman was well past the point of feeling she was living her life on the run. As the armored criminal began to run, a water spout arched up into the warehouse through the smashed skylight from the nearby bay. Tsunami gracefully leapt onto the spout as it twisted back upward, quickly carrying her out into the cool night air. As she flew after the retreating Hornet, she once again sent a blast of twisting water streaking through the air after him. Once again the armored foe dodged the attack with skilled easy. However, even as he dodge the new attack, the twisting coils of water from her earlier attack came arching up into the night sky to streak over towards the villain. Focused on dodging the first attack, he was not prepared for the sudden appearance of another jet of water, which slammed into him from one side…
  14. Tsunami will pull a water spout from the nearby water and fly up outside after Green Hornet (her platform flight). The first water blast will arch back around to try to hit him again (a free action), this time hitting with a 29 for a DC 27 toughness save. At the same time she fires a new water blast at him as her normal attack action, but this one misses with a 13
  15. Veronica Veronica's plan to make a break for the miniature sun at the center of the magical suit of armor had been at least partially successful, as Ouroboros and Masque kept at least two of their opponents occupied. But that still left to others that continued to attempt to stop her and prevent her from delivering the helmet. Only by strength of will was the teenage Danger able to pull herself free from the limbs and continue onward. But then the limbs and mist began to close in around her once more, seeming about to entrap her and bring this all to an end. But then a shimmering portal opened in the air in front of her, the magic easily recognizable as that of her older classmate. A small smile coming to her face as Ouroboros provided her with a short cut away from the limbs and mist, Veronica continued sprinting forward, leaping through the portal as she drew close. Emerging from the other end near the miniature sun, Veronica pulled the helmet free and extended outward as she came down toward the ground, releasing it once she was close enough to be sure that draw of the sun would pull the helmet toward it and complete their objective. The teenager then tucked into a roll and came back up on her feet nearby as she watched the helmet being drawn into the miniature sun.
  16. Veronica Veronica had given Corinne the option, but she was glad that the older teen had chosen to help, transforming in to Zenith and moving out to create a defensive dome over the facility. Astrid and Micah were moving out towards the surface as well, so the teenage Danger moved over to the security station as the female security guard began explaining their situation. The fact they were cut off from communications was not good, but they were far from helpless. "Keep trying the comms, perhaps we can figure out what is jamming them and disable it." She stated before focusing on the screens to see the unusual sight of the two flying sailing ships. "Pan, you might want to take a look at this." Veronica stated as the other teenager was talking with Nicole about the Horologium.
  17. Veronica Veronica just game Kam a small grin as he looked at bit confused about Elizabeth's question about whether he was to be part of an arranged marriage. She made no comment however, as it was at least a partially honest question given that a majority of the world knew very little about the inner workings of Dakana, and the fact that arrange marriages even among more modest social classes were still common enough in parts of the world. At Liz's question about the pyramids they were passing, Veronica took a quick glance over at the one currently nearby before focusing back on the road and answering. "I have been in all of them at one point or another. Although most of the time it was just for sightseeing, but in a few occasions I accompanied my mother on research projects inside some." As Veronica responded, she turned the Land Rover off the two lane paved road they were heading along and onto a dirt road that headed south past the Red Pyramid. The driving conditions were rather bumpier now, and it was not long before they got even rougher, as Veronica turned onto another, smaller dirt road to the west once more. The road twisted and turned some, as they moved down some hillsides and into a lower valley area. Down on the valley floor the occupants of the vehicle could see what looked like a small camp set up near what appeared to be a dig site that was uncovering some stone structure. Not far from the camp and active dig site was a half-buried pyramid, only the upper third fully visible above the sands along one of the valley walls. "There it is." Veronica stated as she began to slow down and approach the campsite near the dig. "The Pyramid of Sanakht." Looking over toward the dig she added, "they are working on further excavation of a temple complex that we found near the pyramid from around the same time period." As they approached the camp site, Kam and Liz saw a middle-aged Egpytian man dressed in dusty work clothes waiting for them. Veronica parked the Land Rover next to some other dusty off-road vehicles parked near the camp site as the waiting man moved close to greet them. "Veronica, so wonderful to see you again." He stated in accented English as he moved up the teenage Danger as she climbed out of the vehicle, giving her a kiss on one cheek. Veronica returned the gesture with a smile. "It is good to see you as well Dr. Nassry, thank you for all your help to get this trip arranged." "But of course, always glad to have your assistance when you have the time." Dr. Nassry stated with a warm smile. "Allow me to introduce my friends," Veronica stated, turning slightly to indicated Liz and Kam, "Elizabeth Grey and Kam Kingdom. They are both very excited to have the opportunity to help with the excavations and other projects." Dr. Nassry turned to each of the teenager, offering his hand and a warm smile. "So pleased to meet you both." "And I believe you have communicated with Prudence on the phone and by e-mail as she was coordinating this trip for us." Veronica added, gesturing to Prudence as the young woman made her way around the parked Land Rover. "Ah yes, a pleasure to finally meet you in person." Dr. Nassry stated as he shook Prudence’s hand as well. "A great honor Dr. Nassry." Prudence stated in response with a cordial smile. "Now, let's get you all to your quarters for your stay here and get out of this afternoon sun for a bit while we talk." Dr. Nassry stated, gesturing over toward the camp.
  18. Synapse Dee gave a warm smile as Lulu talked about Southerners and their self-depreciating humor. "Do not be so hard on yourself." She stated as Lulu referred to herself as "white trash." "Because if you can tell jokes about yourself in good humor, then you are well ahead of many of the 'upper class' here or in the States that are often lacking in a sense of humor about themselves, let alone willing to make jokes about themselves." As the mental conversation continued, Dee felt a cold rage come over her as Lulu talked about gaining her powers at a young age and her father finding ways to abuse those powers. It felt somewhat all too familiar to the Englishwoman and she could tell the teenager was still feeling considerable guilt about what her family had done with her abilities. <What your family chose to do with your abilities is on them, not you.> She replied mentally. <I can understand what you have been through. In my case, my family did not hurt others, just my sister and I, and all for Queen and Country.> When the teenager verbally forced a laugh and mentioned needing a drink Dee smirked slightly. "Sorry, the drinking age here is eighteen. However…someone under eighteen can drink in a social setting like this with their parent or guardian’s permission." The Englishwoman reached out and grabbed a glass of champagne off a tray of a passing waiter. "But, I think we can bend that rule slightly. If Megan or Robert find out and are upset, just blame me, and I can always remind them of their own politely overlooked scandal." She said as she held out the drink for Lulu.
  19. Robert's mother gave a gave a warm smile as Lulu talked about working with tutors to get herself caught up in school, glancing over to her daughter-in-law briefly before focusing back on Lulu. When Lulu finished with her comment about her difficulty with math, the Dowager Harrow gave her a slightly stern look but then spoke in a soft tone. "Do not be so hard on yourself dear, it sounds as if you have had some disadvantages from a young age that were not your fault. I am certain with a bit of hard work you will be able to get to a point where you will be able to do sufficiently well in math." It was then Lawrence's turn to talk some about his schooling, at least filling his grandmother in from the last time he had spoken with her on the phone or by skype. But Dowager Harrow made sure to alternate between speaking with Lawrence and Lulu, asking the teenage girl questions about her home and growing up. Eventually lunch was over, and as a servant came in to start clearing the table, Robert glanced at his mother and Megan a moment before looking to Lawrence and Lulu. "Lawrence, why don’t you show Lulu around the estate to help her get familiar with it." Lawrence tensed ever so slightly, but then gave a nod. "Of course." He replied, standing up and looking over at the older girl.

  21. Veronica Veronica continued to focus on the road as they began to travel south on the highway along the west bank of the Nile. Soon the Great Pyramids of Giza began to recede into the distance behind them as they continued south. The crowded city gave way to smaller collections of buildings and many cultivated fields all along about a mile wide strip of land along the Nile before the desert began further to the west. They had not gone very far south when another group of pyramids rose up above the desert sands. Though smaller than the Giza Pyramids, these seemed much older, their outer shapes crumbling some. Veronica glanced over to the west as she spoked once more. "That is the Abusir Necropolis, with the pyramids of Shaure, Niuserre and Khentkaus II." She stated before focusing on the road ahead once more. It was only a few more miles before a large step pyramid came into view to the west, surrounded by a number of other smaller structures. "There is the Pyramid of Djoser." Veronica stated, pointing quickly toward the step pyramid. "That is the start of the Saqqara Necropolis, but Sanakht's Pyramid is toward the southern end, just southwest of the Red Pyramid." Veronica turned off the highway that had been following the Nile, passing through the cultivated fields that lay along its bank before reaching the edge of the town of Saqqara and turning south once more. Along the way she pointed out a number of other pyramids dotting the desert sands around the town, the pyramids of Pepi I, Pepi II, and Senusret III. It was as they passed the latter that Veronica turned onto a road headed west, about half a mile south of the Pyramid of Sunusret III. A little over a mile ahead of them on just to the south was the Red Pyramid.
  22. GM The four heroes began moving forward into the abandoned station to see about restoring full power to the facility in order to help in trying to access the station’s sensor logs. However, they had only moved toward the central core of the station, from which the various wings of the facility branched off, when the found a robbed figure floating in the middle of the room facing them. The figure was tall, but completely concealed within its tattered hooded black robe. No face was visible within the hood of the robe, only a shadowy darkness. "It would appear you Praetorians again interfere in matters that do not concern you." It stated in a cold, hollow voice. As it spoke, Flux and Quennie heard English, while for Galvanic its words were Tempestan, and the Traveller heard Sanskrit. "Depart this sector and do not return. This will be your only warning."
  23. Synapse Dee gave a small smile at Lulu’s comment about feeling like she is related to half of Alabama. "That statement is just asking for a sarcastic quip about the stereotypes of the American South, but you seem like a lovely young lady, so I will resist the temptation." The English woman then gave a small nod as Lulu explained more about her connection with the Harrows. "Ah, well, that does sound rather like Robert and Megan. Though not sure they have been put upon to 'put up with you.' Unless you are doing a very good job of hiding a rebellious wild streak, I imagine they have not had too difficult a time." At Lulu's mental statement Dee's smile faded somewhat. <Consider yourself lucky.> The English woman replied at first, her mental tone somewhat hardened. She then considered the American teenager a moment before responding to the question. <I obtained my powers when I was about eleven.>
  24. Okay, ZB, Veronica will take advantage of everyone being busy with the others to make a break toward where we have to deliver the helmet, double moving if necessary. She still has the air-walking spell available and has Speed 1, so she can cover some distance if necessary.
