  1. Veronica Veronica smile slightly at Liz's joke about the threats they needed to keep an eye out for. Turning back slightly towards the window, she looked out, spotting the Nile down below them. "Yes, we should be on the ground is about ten minutes." She stated in agreement with Kam’s observation. The statement proved accurate, as the group began to feel the pressure change more rapidly as the plane began its final descent. Soon, they were down on the tarmac of Cairo International Airport, taxing off away from the main terminals towards a section of the airport for smaller, private planes. Gathering their things, the three teens and Prudence soon disembarked, steeping out to the mildly hot afternoon air of Cairo and were met by customs and immigration officials. As Prudence had promised, the formalities were rather short, with the clout of the Dakana Royal Family and Danger International having cleared things ahead of time, the officials only wanting to confirm the identities of the disembarking passengers. Prudence once again delivered as a dark green Land Rover sat parked not far off the tarmac, a Danger International employee waiting for the group with the keys, which Veronica took with a word of thanks. Making her way over to the driver's seat (located on the right hand side of the vehicle) she glance back at her two friends as a wide grin spread across her face. "Well, let's get going." She stated putting her pack down in between the two front seat and climbing into the vehicle.
  2. GM "I'm on it." Soreen responded to Starshot’s orders, moving toward the entrance to the Xeno and making her way inside once Starshot and Laark had managed to manually open the hatch. As Starshot and Laark set off the get some fresh supplies, Soreen made her way down to the ship's engine room to get the power core back online. Starshot and Laark used flashlights to make their way through the somewhat cold and dark corridors of the Xeno. Although the darkness slowed them slightly, they still knew exactly where to go for the supplies they needed, gathering up several of them before the main interior lights flickered back on as the vessel's core became active once more. The improved lighting helped speed up the gathering of supplies, and soon Laark and Starshot were gathered in the cargo area where the ATV was stored. The wheeled vehicle was still there, but as Soreen had noted, it was far too large to fit into the cargo space of the flyer they had appropriated from the pirates.
  3. Veronica "Wow, what a mess." Veronica commented as the trio looked over the chaos that was continuing to spread though Bellios. As she felt the helmet tugging slightly, she looked back at her two companions. "Let's get this finished then." Renewing the spell she had cast previously to allow her and Liz to walk on air, Veronica stepped forward, rising up in the air as she passed through window and toward the chamber where the Self was housed. But even as she went, she was cautious, looking about the chamber with her mystical sight, trying to detect any threats that might be hiding nearby.
  4. Veronica A neutral expression had come over Veronica's face as Tyler inadvertently reveled his small horns and Nicole gave him some rather blunt advice. That tended to be something Nicole was rather good at, but she was trying to help Tyler somewhat. But the bit of tension that had developed was then broken as Zenith made a rather flashy entrance (as if she could ever make any other kind). When Zenith had turned back into Corinne, Veronica gave a small smile as Tyler asked his question, seeming a bit confused. "Tyler, this is another senior, Corrine Conrad. You also briefly met her alter-ego, Zenith." The teenage Danger said in way of greeting.
  5. The Dowager Harrow gave a small smile at Lulu's response and compliments. "Well, technically it is Robert's home, I am just afforded the curtesy of being allowed to continue residing here. But thank you." The older woman took her gaze off Lulu exclusively, glancing around at her son, Megan and Lawrence as well. "Now, I am sure it has been a long drive and you all must be famished. Please join me from lunch." She stated, gesturing at the table as servants were starting to bring out plates of food. Looking back to Lulu, she gestured to the seat to her right. "Please have a seat here dear." Lawrence took the seat to his grandmother’s left, across from Lulu, as Robert and Megan took the seats beside them. As the lunch began, Dowager Harrow looked at Lawrence and the Lulu. "Now, I would like to hear how each of your fall terms have gone. Ladies first Lawrence." She added quickly as he seemed about to start speaking.
  6. Veronica "The Egyptians had ceremonial masks as well Liz." Veronica stated as the other teenage girl talked about the various roles of masks within other cultures. "It was just the burial mask that had a very distinct purpose." As Kam suggested that the mask might be tied to a way to resurrect Sanakht, the teenage Danger gave a small shrug. "I thought of that as well, but I did not detect anything in the mummy to suggest the magic in the mask had interacted with it over the thousands of years it was in contact with the mummy." "So….there must be something else that the mask is intended to interact with. Right now, the most logical first place to look is within the pyramid. If we do not find anything there….then it is back to the drawing board."
  7. Veronica Danger Veronica Danger was perhaps somewhat less excited than most of her classmates during this trip. For starters, she had been to Freedom Hall several times in the Fall when she had gone to get flight time in one of the League's Pegasus spaceplanes. Further, while she had never been to this particular facility personally, as a member of the Danger family had having access to Danger International files, she certainly was aware of its existence before this trip. Still, it was a chance to get out of the classroom for a bit and on to something somewhat more active. The teenage Danger was dressed in her more usual attire, olive cargo shorts, a black T-shirt over which she wore a loose tan long sleeved shirt that was unbuttoned in the front. And, of course, there were the ever present pair of well-worn in hiking boots on her feet. While the appearance in the middle of a sandstorm was not the most pleasant way to arrive, Veronica had experienced her share of sandstorms in her travels. Giving a nod to the host that was there to greet them and in agreement with Astrid’s comments, the teenage Danger started towards the rooftop access door.
  8. Synapse As Erick feigned clumsiness and created a bit of a scene, Dee maintained her outwardly bored appearance as she kept her mental senses tuned for any further sign of the other psychic. She began sensing flashes of the other's power, moving through the first floor. <Looks like they are aware of us.> She sent to Erick. <They are moving around, limiting the use of their abilities. Might be trying to find us.> When Erick used his distraction as an excuse to leave the room and being searching, Dee remained where she was, waiting for any further signals from the other psychic. As she did, she spotted a teenage redhead enter the room, wearing green evening gown. Just as she noted the teenager, Dee felt the brief psychic flash from the girl’s mind. Lulu had entered one of the other rooms on the first floor as she continued trying to locate the individuals having the psychic conversation. As she made one of her scans, she registered psychic activity from an attractive woman in her late-twenties in a black sleeveless evening gown with black hair that contained a few dyed orange streaks. The older woman’s blue eyes were fixed on Lulu as the teenager heard a mental voice with a sophisticated English accent in her mind. <Good evening love. Fancy meeting another psychic at such a dull affair.>
  9. GM As when Flux had last visited the station, the main airlock was still functioning perfectly. Soon the four heroes were inside the station, the outer airlock doors closed behind them. When Flux had left the station several months ago, he had powered it back down to the minimal level he had found it set on when he had managed to escape the singularity. There was currently no gravity or life support inside. However, there was just enough heat to keep the surfaces from icing over and everything appeared to be just as it had been when Flux had last been here. Over on the Devotion, the other Praetorians were keeping as close an eye on the group at the station as they could. Moon-Moth was focused on the readout from the Devotion's sensors, which could still read the four members of the away party, though there had been a slight fluctuation with the readings when they had first entered the station’s airlock.
  10. Nothing really for Tsunami to do other than get ready to act. She gets a 31 for initiative.
  11. GM Dust Devil and Tsunami moved quietly down the stone hallway, following after the torch light of the Nazis ahead of them. The Nazis continued to move cautiously, stopping as they came to an intersection of hallways for a few moments. Dust Devil could hear a conversation among some of the group, but once again it was in German, leaving the subject of the conversation unknown. After a few minutes, the Nazis chose the hallway to the left and started off once more. They continued on for several more minutes before the light ahead of the two heroes stopped once more. From where they were it appeared to Dust Devil and Tsunami that the Nazis had entered a room, though how large it might be they could not tell from where they were. There was an echo of more conversation in German, as the lights ahead were now stationary. Tsunami looked over to the side, trying to spot Dust Devil in the shadowy darkness around them. Not entirely certain where he was, she pointed toward the end of the hallway and made a hand signal that seemed to suggest trying to move up quietly The Asian heroine then started creeping forward, moving into the shadows to conceal her presence in addition to avoiding any sound.
  12. Happy Birthday Giz!!
  13. The Yellow Spectrum Knight rolls a natural 1 so it out cold! The Orange SK makes its will save vs the feint.
  14. Veronica Veronica had a slightly hurt look on her face as she looked over at Elizabeth. "I happen to think that my personal journals are both well written and interesting." She stated in a teasing tone. The teenage Danger's expression became more serious once again as she looked over to Kam as he asked his question about the mask. “"Well, the burial masks, or death masks, had a number of roles in the Egyptian afterlife. For one, it was believed they would strengthen the soul and protect it from evil spirits. It was also tied to the importance of mummifying the body. The ancient Egyptians believed that without the body, the soul would become restless forever. The mask was intended to allow the soul to recognize its body." "I spent time looking over the other objects in the exhibit, including Sanakht's mummy, I did not sense any magic within them. If the mask was to have some significance with the mummy, I could not sense it."
  15. History of the Stellar Khanate Origins and Early Decades Over the centuries, the Lor Republic ignored the many “barbaric” worlds that existed beyond its borders, focusing the majority of its attention on expanding its borders and conflicts with the Grue Unity. This indifference allowed one of the “barbaric” war-leaders, Khana Khan of the planet Zultas, to form a small alliance of worlds which was passed on to her son and successor, Kinan Khan, also known to the galaxy as Star-Khan. Kinan Khan took the small alliance formed by his mother, and expanded its borders, while forging its patchwork military forces into a formidable military power, creating the Stellar Khanate. Underestimating Kinan Khan, the Lor were caught by surprise when the forces of the Stellar Khanate attacked the Republic. The forces of the Khanate might well have conquered the Republic in this war, were it not for the intervention of Daedalus and the Star Knights (including the Lor Star Knight, A’lan Koor). After suffering a crushing defeat, it took the Khanate many years to recover, while the Lor began keeping a closer watch over the Khanate, weary of any further aggression. Star-Khan bought himself more time to rebuild by engaging in diplomacy with the Republic and other neighboring spacefaring worlds. During that time, Star-Khan continued to rebuild his forces, hatch new plans and plot his revenge. The Incursion/Communion War However, before Star-Khan could unleash his rebuilt forces on his enemies, a new, long forgotten threat arrived at the boarders of the Khanate. Communion forces quickly smashed through the outer defenses of the Khanate and spread quickly into the very heart of the Khanate, Zultas. Capturing Zultas itself, the Communion also captured Kinan Khan. Instead of integrating Kinan Khan, as had been done with so many other captured Khanate soldiers and citizens, the Communion chose to only partially integrate Star-Khan, instead making him a cybernetic mouth piece for the Communion as it began its assaults on the Lor Republic, the Grue Unity and other spacefaring worlds in the sector. Of the major powers in the sector, the Stellar Khanate suffered perhaps the greatest harm at the hands of the Commuion, with numerous worlds beginning the process to be integrated into the Communion by being cyberformed into massive servers, or destroyed by the Communion’s worm-hole weapon. Countless soldiers and civilians alike were integrated into the Communion as drones and turned against their fellow Khanate beings as well as those of the Lor, Grue and countless others. Surviving Khanate forces joined with the Lor, Grue and other Coalition worlds to fight against the Communion. Eventually the combined forces of the Coalition managed to defeat the Communion, bringing an end to its invasion. Star-Khan was captured by Galvanic, Rock and Paradigm. With the defeat of the Communion, Star-Khan’s cybernetic enhancements shut down, and the Lor did what they could to stabilize him, but too much of his original vital organs were gone, leaving him in a coma. Khanate loyalists rescued him from a Lor prison transport, taking him back to the portions of the Stellar Khanate that remained loyal. Post-Incursion In the aftermath of the Communion War, the Stellar Khanate fragmented. Portions remained loyal to Star Khan, even if he was not in any shape to lead it. But a number of former lieutenants declared themselves the new Khan, seizing portions of the Khanate as they began fighting among themselves for overall control. One section of the Khanate was sized by the Boron pirate leader, Dovox, who styled himself as Sovereign and sought to continue to expand his new domain. Still other worlds took the opportunity to free themselves from Khanate control, declaring independence or forming into loose confederations with other newly freed worlds. This condition continued on for several years, with none of the various warlords managing to gain an upper hand on the others, the loyalist systems of the Khanate taking a defensive stance and managing to withstand any attempts to absorb them. Meanwhile, the breakaway worlds turned to the Coalition, Star Knights and Praetorians for support and assistance in keeping their new found independence. Unknown to all, the loyalist Stellar Khanate was rebuilding its forces, even as previously unknown individual. Dr. Rhavaun, a Naram scientist, inventor and tactician, appeared to help bring Star-Khan out of his coma and sought to try to fully restore his health. Dr. Rhavaun also introduced new weapon designs to the Khanate forces and oversaw the mining of Computonium and the collection of now dysfunctional Communion drones to be used in bolstering the limited forces of the loyalist systems. Revanche As the preparations to restore the Stellar Khanate to its former glory neared completion, Star-Khan’s condition began to worsen once more. Dr. Rhavaun had managed to temporarily restore Star-Khan by reintroducing Communion technology into the tyrant, allowing him to taken on an active role once more while they searched for a long term solution. However, Star-Khan’s new cybernetics required Communion nanite plasma for him to be at full efficiency, and the Khanate’s supply was beginning to run low. Star-Khan and Dr. Rhavaun devised a plan to capture a new supply of the nanite plasma, while simultaneously having the expanding Justicar ranks lead the Khanate forces in beginning to reconquer the lost Stellar Khanate territories. The plan began with a Khanate cruiser travelling to Co-Vic Station to demand an audience with the Coalition Counsel. Meanwhile, a group of bounty hunters and mercenaries allied with various Khanate crime syndicates were already abroad Co-Vic Station. After the Khanate ambassador and his delegation were aboard the station and meeting with the Coalition Council, Kazzan Suul and his mercenaries began a firefight with the Voidrnners in the Spinal Core, the engagement designed to distract station peacekeepers away from other areas of the station, while many of the Praetorians were busy escorting the Khanate delegation at the Council chambers. A strike team of Stellar Khanate special forces led by Dr. Rhavaun and Yass’ir, a Hassaan assassin used these diversions to steal stores of Communion nanite plasma and to attack the Tower of the Scared Assembly on Co-Vic Station to steal information about the possible locations of various ancient artifacts which might provide a means of restoring Star-Khan to full health. Meanwhile, Khanate forces began the reconquest of lost systems, unleashing massive Computonium war machines designed by Dr. Rhavaun upon a number of breakaway worlds and others controlled by various warlords who had tried to seize power for themselves. The suddenness of the attacks, combined with the power of the new war machines led to several of the attacked worlds quickly capitulating. While the Khanate forces attacking Co-Vic Station managed to escape with the nanite plasma and information from the Scared Assembly, quick response by the Lor and other Coalition forces, along with the Praetorians and Star Knights managed to halt the Khanate offensives against the worlds that had declared their independence. However, the Stellar Khanate’s attacks on the regions controlled by the various rogue warlords continued, and over the course of the next year they began to fall, one after another. The Present While Star-Khan was not been able to restore the Stellar Khanate to its former size, he has managed to recapture a sizable amount of the territory he controlled before the arrival of the Communion. Currently, only the Boron Sovereign and the various independent worlds (backed up by the Coalition, Praetorians and Star Knights) have not been brought back into the Stellar Khanate. After several months of consolidating his hold on the reconquered systems and reinforcing his forces, Star-Khan is in a position to turn his attention to one or both of the remaining collections of former Khanate worlds that he has not regained. However, there is still the matter of finding a more long term solution to his condition, as the nanite plasma stores taken from Co-Vic Station will not last forever…. Culture and Society The majority of power within the Stellar Khanate is held by Zultasian nobles and others loyal to Star-Khan. While this ruling class was decimated by the Incursion, Star-Khan has wasted little time since his revival in raising up those who showed the most loyalty while he was incapacitated to fill back in the ranks. Numerous other species make up the majority of the beings within the Khanate, having been brought in by Star-Khan’s many conquests. Some have fully integrated into Khanate, while others still recall their independence and are held in check by the might of Star-Khan’s forces. A majority of these worlds were the ones that declared independence following the Incursion, and while many are still independent, some were reconqured during the Khanate’s initial blitz. While the Khanate possesses technology close to that of the Lor Republic, it has primarily come into their possession by conquest and/or theft. It also tends to be a bit older and often in rather poorer condition. The best and newest technology is typically in the hands of Star-Khan, the Stellar Khanate military, and the ruling class. On many Khanate worlds, there is a strange mixture of advanced technologies alongside primitive and barbaric conditions. On many Khanate worlds, gladiatorial games and other blood sports are quite popular. Throughout the history of the Stellar Khanate it has served as a haven for pirates, smugglers and other criminals, so long as they did not try to cross Star-Khan or his lieutenants. Several powerful criminal syndicates developed within the Khanate, and most survived the Incursion, taking advantage of the chaotic aftermath of the war to increase their operations into the Lor Republic and to other Coalition systems.
  16. Veronica "Well, 'officially' we are assisting with a DI sponsored dig of some tombs located not far from Sanakht's pyramid. But, we have access to the pyramid as well, so, we will be trying to learn if there is anything there that might give a hint as to what the Thule sorcerer was referring to." Veronica responded in reply to Kam’s first question, a slightly excited grin on her face. But at his second question the teenage Danger’s face become more serious. "No, I am afraid we uncovered little more. Having been able to study the mask more closely a few times, it clearly radiates faint magic and is a key of some kind. But there is nothing about it that can aided us in discerning what it is a key to. And as for any records that might shed any light on what it might be fore, Sanakht has always been something of an enigma, to the point that many Egyptologists did not believe there ever had been a Sanakht, which is part of what made our discovery such a notable one, so there is little to go on."
  17. Veronica Veronica had a serious expression as the subject of Abby came up. "I was pulled into part of the system by the suit’s AI guardian." She explained to Ouroboros. "It was upset that it had been unable to stop the incursion into the suit’s systems. It offered us assistance, stating that if we call upon it, it can provide us a short cut through all this to where the Self is located." She stated. "But while I was with the guardian, I did not see any sign of Abby, nor did it mention her." The teenager added.
  18. Veronica "We should probably be wrapping up the tour close to lunch time, so we should be available to meet up with whomever you get together." Veronica replied to Alex's offer about going out for burgers later as she glanced over towards Tyler. "Should be a good way to meet some other students in a relaxed environment." Veronica then gave a small smile at Nicole's comment about her and Tyler's puzzled reaction. "Nicole is referring to my surname, one my family has earned many times over given we have a long history of exploration, adventure and otherwise seeking out dangerous situations."
  19. Include Veronica on this.
  20. @Fox @angrydurf The OOC for this thread for when we need it.
  21. Veronica Danger The three teenagers were not the only passengers in the DI jet. Prudence was present as well, having had a considerable roll in planning some of the logistics of the trip. The usually formally dressed young woman was dressed a bit more casually at present, wearing a white long sleeve blouse and a pair of khaki slacks. As always, she was glancing at the tablet she never seemed to be without. "The vehicle is already at the airport awaiting our arrival." She stated, glancing up from the tablet and over toward Veronica. "Customs should not take long and we can be on our way to the dig site." Seated in a seat across the isle from Prudence, Veronica Danger had been looking at a book on hieroglyphics before looking up toward her personal assistant. "Thank you Prudence." Closing the book and setting it down, Veronica turned her chair to look back toward Liz and Kam. "Well, almost there. Getting excited yet?" The teenage danger was smiling, a certain energetic excitement clearly evident in her expression. Veronica was well used to such adventures, but with the possible threat of the Thule Society still out there, she was very glad to have her friends with her for this one.
  22. GM Egyptian Airspace, 30 minutes from Cairo Friday, April 18, 2019 (1:20 PM local time) A Danger International private jet soared above the light cloud cover over northern Egypt as it entered its final approach toward Cairo. The sleek aircraft began a gradual descent as it continued on its flight path, transporting a rather unusual group of passengers to the ancient city. It had been several months since a group of Thule Society sorcerers accompanied by several enhanced SHADOW clones had attempted to steal an ancient Egyptian artifact during the opening of an exhibit at the Hunter Museum of Natural History. What the Thule Society had not accounted for was the presence of three Claremont students who had been able to halt the theft. But as the remaining Thule sorcerer had escaped, he had made a cryptic remark about artifact, suggesting that there it possessed some secret the teens were unaware of. Two of the teens, Veronica Danger and Elizabeth Grey, had been able to confirm that the artifact (the burial mask of the Pharaoh Sanakht) resonated with magic and that it was some sort of key. But despite their best efforts to research what that might mean, they still did not know exactly what it was a key to. So over the last few months Danger International, with some assistance from the Dakanan Royal family, had made arrangements with the Egyptian authorities to allow for an investigation of Sanakht's pyramid at the Saqqara necropolis. Permission had not been obtained until after the start of the new year, meaning Veronica, Elizabeth and Kam Kingdom had to wait until Claremont’s Spring Break to take the trip to Egypt. The interior of the jet was rather luxurious, with each of the teens having a large leather seat with plenty of room around them. The seats rotated so they could turn to face the middle and each other to more easily converse about the expedition they had set out on, or could turn out towards a small table next to each of seat (with connections for laptops and cellphones).
  23. Paradigm Paradigm had flown up into the air to avoid being trapped by the energy sphere created by the blue armored Spectrum Knight. The Naram did not even stop as she arched back down towards the armored figure, quickly closing the distance with him in a flash of white and black. *WHAM* The Praetorian had delivered a powerful punch at a downward angle, striking the Spectrum Knight across the jaw and sending his head snapping to one side. The force of the blow twisted him around and sent him hurtling down to the ground below where he slammed into a roadway below. Thankful any traffic had been diverted by the Lor pacekeepers, so it was deserted of any civilians. "Keep the pressure up." Paradigm called out to her teammates, not wanting to give the Spectrum Knights a chance to regroup or try to flee.
  24. Okay, Paradigm will go after the Blue SK, hitting with a 21. The SK gets a 12 on his toughness save, so it unconscious. @Ari Hyperslice is up! @Tiff You can post for Traveller reacting to UFO suddenly appearing in front of you.
