  1. Tsunami Giang listened as Murk described his past and long life, as well as his basic philosophy. "I could imagine it has been a long, lonely time. Clearly you have found your way in the world that has shaped over the millennia, but I imagine it has not be easy." She was quite a moment, thinking about what Murk had been talking about and then spoke once more. "So, if I understand things correctly, you have established this 'Codus Immortus' as a sort of support system for other immortals. But, I suppose the question is what of those immortals that are already so far gone that they do not see a need for any such support?"
  2. Veronica "Hello Kam." Veronica stated with a wide smile as the Dakanan prince arrived. "I suspect it will be a wonderful time." Before Prudence could respond to Kam, the sound of Leroy’s arrival drew her attention. The Dangers' personal assistant did not quite know what to make as Leroy arrived and presented her with a gift, causing her to be momentarily lost for words. "I…I am not the Dangers' executrix." She finally managed to reply. "Just their assistant, but thank you for the gift." She added, looking at the plates with a bit of uncertainty. Veronica grinned as Leroy spoke, only to quickly be corrected by Dio. "Oh, I don't know, you never know when there will be trouble around here. But there will be a considerable amount of fun at the very least." Focusing on Dio, she then added. "Well, though this is pretty private area, it might be better to blend in for this Dio." It was then that the van arrived brining several of the students and Janus had made their way down from the manor. "Hello Nicole." Veronica said in greeting, turning toward the older girl as she came over in her wheelchair. "I am very pleased to meet you as well." As Janus came by and gave her a one armed hug, Veronica returned the gesture, giving her cousin a sympathetic smile. “It's fine Janus. People have only just arrived and Prudence and I have been finishing with the set up.” "Hello Lulu, Adam, Corrine." She then added as more students followed Nicole down to where the beach and the dock met. "So, as Janus was saying, there will be plenty for those that just want to stay on the shore to enjoy. We got some beach games and other things to do. For those interested, I found a couple of surf boards hidden away in the boat house, along with a pair of wind surfers. We also have a few jet skies, and a small power boat that we can take people out on if they wish. When Selena arrives, I plan to head out on one of the surfboards and try my hand at surfing myself."
  3. Group 2 Veronica Micah's response had caught Veronica quite off guard, so Kam was able to speak up first, interjecting after Micah had calmed down and apologized. The teenage Danger was grateful for Kam's comments, as it gave her a moment to more carefully process Micah’s points, which even if made rather forcefully, still had merit. When Kam finished Veronica gave the secret Dakanan royalty a small smile of things before she spoke up again. "Well, regardless of just how self-made great-grandfather was, the fact still exists that his exploits provided the family with considerable wealth, and those of us in the generations since have been beneficiaries of that." She replied, focusing back on Micah. "Apology accepted Micah, and you are right, I do come from a very different circumstances than many other powered individuals. I apologize if it seemed that I was suggesting that it would be an easy choice for anyone to do as my family has done in terms of being public about our identities."
  4. Group 2 Veronica Veronica listed to her fellow students speak about the second question as she thought about the question. "Well, one option would be to arrange to have the particular criminal incarcerated in a way he cannot interact with any other prisoners, then he cannot share what he had learned. Of course, that is only a temporary solution, at some point there will be an opportunity for him to share the information." "As for altering memories, while a rather drastic decision, it is at least preferable to the other more permanent solution." When Abby seemed to freeze for a moment, Veronica saw something flare into being over the other teen's head that made her frown slightly, her eyes narrowing as if she was questioning whether she had actually seen what she thought she had. "Running from situation might work, but again, only for a time. Eventually it will catch up with you." The teen gave a shrug as Lulu spoke up about going public ahead of any revel. "Well, I certainly would recommend such a course of action, but then my family has operated publicly for over a century. So, I am probably somewhat biased. I can still understand that such a choice would not be for everyone. Still, given the potential options available, I would vote for going public."
  5. Danger Manor North Bay, Freedom City Saturday, September 29, 2018. 1:00 PM The discussion had begun just before the start of the school year about making a trip to the beach to get in some last bit of surfing before the weather turned and it got too cold for such activity. From there it had sort of grown to more of a general social gathering for some of the Claremont students. The Danger cousins had taken the initiative to host the gathering at Danger Manor, given the potential privacy concerns, and thus had set Prudence to work coordinating things. This had included arranging for use of the private stretch of beach at the manor, arranging for the food for the beach cookout for dinner and securing transport for those students that needed a means to get to North Bay from the school. Of course, all of this had been work on top of her normal responsibilities as the personal assistant to Janus and Veronica. The young woman glanced down at her tablet one last time, confirming that everything was going as it should as she stood near the boathouse at the end of the long dock that ran out into the water. For once she was not dressed in her impeccable business attire, instead opting for a pair of dark blue jeans and white short-sleeved blouse, over which she wore a light windbreaker. The day had turned out to be a pleasantly warm one, even if the temperature was not likely to reach the low-eighties and a light breeze blew in from the ocean. "Everything appears to be in order." She stated out loud as she lowered her tablet. "The first van containing your guests should be arriving shortly." "Great! Thanks so much for all your work in organizing all of this Prudence!' Veronica Danger replied as she walked over near Prudence, carrying the sail for a windsurfer over to where the board section was lying near the dock. The teenage danger was dressed in a full body wetsuit, but her feet were currently bare. Setting the sail down near the board, she looked around the area she had been working to help prepare the last couple of hours before looking out along the long dock. "Too bad the Danger Yacht is out at sea for the moment, but probably for the best. People might want to go aboard if it was here." She said with a small smile. Turning away from the dock, Veronica looked back inland, where a gentle hill rose up from the beach, upon which sat Danger Manor itself. "Yes, that is likely a good thing." Prudence replied in agreement. "Besides, I believe you have a sufficient amount of watercraft for those that might be interested in going out. Although, I rather expect most will prefer to just stay on the beach." "Probably." Veronica stated. "But still should be a fun time for all."
  6. Veronica Veronica could understand Janus' concern. It certainly looked as if Lulu was not breathing and she knew that it did not take too long of oxygen deprivation before serious damage could result. But…Lulu had told them not to be alarmed and that the result of what she was showing could look scary. But still… Then, Lulu started breathing once more and sat back up, seemingly no worse for wear. "You were right, that did appear pretty frightening. I was starting to contemplate going back to our room to get my first aid kit and the adrenaline injector inside it." Veronica then gave a small smile. "But that was quite impressive, I can see how it could be useful in certain situations. It might take me awhile to master, but I certainly would be up for trying to work on the technique."
  7. Okay Crimson, Jessica is up.
  8. GM Ye Quan managed to shake off Jessica's magical attack, though he did seem a bit worse for wear. As Crimson Tiger moved in to engage him, he took a powerful kick from her as well, just getting a shield of black energy between himself and the brunt of the kick just in time. He still was pushed back slightly, but regained his footing quickly. The gang leader focused his attention on Jessica, scowling at her. "You over estimate your worth witch!" He shouted in reply as he brought up one hand and fired a blast of dark energy at the redhead. The last struck Jessica squarely, a numbing cold washing over her as she felt the impact. But while it hurt some, it was not nearly enough to stop her. The gang members that had run up the stairs now leapt into action, two rushing over towards Crimson Tiger. The first tried a flying kick as he rushed the Asian young woman, but the experienced fighter easily sidestepped the telegraphed attack. The second gang member moved over more cautiously, and managed to deliver a swift kick that actually managed to catch Crimson Tiger off guard and catching her on the left side. The other two gang members rushed over to help the one still fighting Tsunami, the trio making a series of attacks. However, the other Asian young woman was able to dodge or turn them all away, seeming to almost to flow like the water swirling around her body in a thin protective layer.
  9. Just a bruise.
  10. Okay, Ye Quan is going to turn his attention toward Jessica this time, firing a blast of dark energy at her and hitting with a 26, so a DC 25 toughness save for Jessica. A couple of gang members are going to move over to engage Crimson Tiger, getting a 14 and 24 so a miss and a hit. A DC 17 toughness save for Crimson. A couple of gang members move over to help the one already facing Tsunami, and they get a 25, 19 and 14, the first would normally hit, but for Tsunami’s defensive attack.
  11. Tsunami With no further threat of firearms from below being brought to bear against them, Tsunami was able to momentarily shift her entire focus on the two gang members currently fighting her. The Asian young woman continued to stay in a defensive stance, dodging and blocking in coming attacks from the two gang members. As one of the gang members came at her, Tsunami moved to one side, putting him between her and his companion to momentarily remove the second gang member from being a danger. The closest gang member tried to swing is left arm out to hit her, but Tsunami easily blocked the attack, stepping in as she did so to deliver a powerful elbow strike to the side of his head. This was immediately followed up by a foot sweep that sent the gang member sprawling to the floor unconscious. Even as the gang member went crashing down, Tsunami had already stepped back away from him, resuming a defensive stance to face the other gang member.
  12. Okay, Tsunami will continue using full Defensive Attack (-5 Atk/+5 Def) and use Power Attack (-4 Atk/+4 Dam). She will then attack one of the two gang members attacking her, taking 10 to hit him and putting him down.
  13. Group 2 (Full) Veronica Veronica listened as several of the others in the group reacted to the various points brought by herself and the rest of the group. It was clear that the questions had everyone thinking a great deal on the subject, and while there was some agreement, if not by all, there was still room for some counter points. Looking first at Abby, the teenage Danger gave a small smile. "'Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' There is certainly something to this saying Abby, and while I agree complacency can be a problem, I also question whether registration of those with powers is the only way to keep watch over them." Veronica had been about to respond to Lulu's comments about how some powers were more dangerous than others when Selena responded to that. When Selena mentioned an alternative registration requirement for those that wanted to be super powered crime fighters, she nodded in agreement. "See, a law crafted more like that would be something that seems more reasonable." When Abby made her quite comment about her "mother" not tolerating any dissenters, Veronica looked at the other girl with a slightly raised eyebrow, but did not verbally respond to the comment. Like a number of current Claremont students, Abby was one from which Veronica was able to sense very strong magic, but the teenage Danger did her best not to try to study that too closely, not wanting to feel like she was prying into their personal matters. Then a look came to Veronica's face as if she just realized something and she looked over at Kam, her voice lowering slightly. "Kam, I just had a thought. What if there is a Machiavellian purpose to this exercise? Maybe it is not just designed to facilitate thoughtful debate on the subject, but is also means for the Headmistress to identify students more likely to challenge her recent statements about intending to more strictly enforce both the existing and newly added restrictions on leaving campus?"
  14. Veronica "Well, we were not suggesting anything deceptive, just that Prudence could help in getting the paperwork necessary submitted, but no worries." Veronica said with a small smile, letting the driver's license issue pass as she instead focused on what Lulu had to say about going into a meditative trance. The teenage Danger nodded in understanding as Lulu mentioned that the technique would require practice to perfect. She gave a little chuckle as Lulu mentioned the experience of another time she had been using the technique and the effect it had had on Lulu’s brother and his girlfriend. Veronica then watched as the other teen began to demonstrate the technique. It took a few moments, but then Lulu was lying as still as if in death, her chest not rising or falling as it should. Veronica had to resist the urge to check her pulse or start trying to administer CPR, recalling what Lulu had said about her being in control and the effect looking frightening. The young Danger had heard about similar results from such techniques before, even if she had not observed any first had. "Wow!" She stated after a few moments, continuing to watch Lulu closely. "That is very impressive control. I have never seen any trances performed quite to that level of control before. It must have taken considerable disciple to be able to learn this."
  15. Group 2 Veronica Danger Veronica had been listening as the others in her group expressed opinions on the question presented to them. "I agree Micah, there is a bit of context missing regarding what exactly the law entails. But, I think the fact that the question states the law requires registration with the federal government and that there is concern about them having information on those with powers suggests it is more than just providing information about a heroic identity and what abilities one has. If AEGIS and other governmental agencies are in any way competent, they should be able to gather that information just by monitoring reports of a powered individuals’ activities.' She stated. "I have to agree with Kam." She then added. "Civil disobedience is valid choice in challenging unjust laws, even when those laws might have been validly enacted. I think this has the hallmarks of such a law. While there may be an argument that such a law is necessary for public safety, but will it really accomplish that? Those that are likely to use their powers in crimes are not going to be ones to register. So there is one more crime to charge them with. But for those that would not use their abilities for crime, they are the ones that are being unfairly targeted. What about those that have some minor powers and never intend to use them at all? I would say for me, I would have to go the route of civil disobedience."
  16. Veronica If Veronica seemed bothered by the bit of dust and grimed that had gotten on her during the brief encounter with the two aliens, she showed little sign of it. She gave a small sigh of relief as things seemed to come to an end as both foes were either unconscious or subdued. However, that relief quickly faded as the shadows around the two aliens seemed to reach out to the DR and seemingly activate it, causing Facsimile appeared to lose control of whatever connection he had with the DR. As if that was not bad enough, the new chaos that began to unfold quickly resulted in Prudence getting propelled toward a rent in space that had been created by the out of control DR. Luckily Veronica still had the spell she had prepared for the fight active, as she grabbed ahold of the nearest solid surface with one hand and case the other out as it glowed with green mystical energy. Another wall of the same mystical energy again sprung into existence, this time forming between Prudence and the rift she had been flung toward…
  17. GM As Moon-Moth sat down on the floor to try to collect himself, Seresk held back and bent down towards the Lanturian. "Are you alright my friend?" The towering reptilian asked in a low voice. Meanwhile, the focus of the planetary council was on Cavalier and Traveller. The elder Zultasian spoke up at Cavalier's questions. "Yes, we heard the demands of the Justicar's demands, and have seen data on the colossus the Khanate has apparently been able to deposit on our threshold. We have been trying to contact our representative on Co Vic Station to request aid from the Council, but it appears long range communications are being disrupted." Another of the council members spoke up at this point. "We have little desire to return to Khanate, but in the current situation do we have much choice? If we are isolated, we have no way of knowing how long it might be before aid arrives, and that machine out in the bay was able to shrug off the combined fire power of our defense fleet. Who knows how much destruction it could cause if it moves into the city."
  18. GM A hot wind blew over the sand as Starshot dismounted and moved over to where the pirate had come to rest. The sun was blazing overhead, bearing down on the space hunter and his opponent who lay a short distance away. As Starshot drew closer, he could not see any significant movement from the pirate who was lying on the hot sand. The pirate’s was still rising and falling, if a bit unevenly. In the hard landing, he had lost the blaster pistol he had lost and Starshot did not see any sign of any other weapons on his person.
  19. Hey Grumble, a few small things. For the Mind Control and Mental Transform, I believe it should be Sense-Dependent [Visual], as you have described these and hypnotic eyes, meaning the target needs to see you to be effected (ie someone blind would not be effected). Also for Mental Transform, please note that the Alt Save [Will] is +0 (as it changes from Fort to Will). Other than those things, it looks good!
  20. GM Both beings were pushing their gav-bikes to their maximum, the vehicles propulsion systems threatening to overheat. Now that Starshot had managed to close with the pirate, he was not about to let him get away, and the pirate seemed unable to pull away just by speed. So the pirate tried to bank suddenly, to shake Starshot off, but the space hunter had already pulled out his whip and flicked it after the pirate. The whip wrapped around the priate’s waist as he started to turn away and pulled him off the bike as Starshot began to decelerate quickly. The now rider-less bike careened away, its nose dipping as it slammed into the sand, tearing the steering vanes of and causing it to flip over several times, smashing into the ground as it tumbled close to a hundred meters off to one side before coming to a halt in battered, smoking heap, bits of the bike strewn across the hundred meter distance. Over where Starshot was, the pirate had landed hard on the sand behind him, getting dragged along behind before Starshot had managed to pull to a complete stop, covering at least fifty meters before he managed to do so. The pirate lay almost motionless on the ground, a faint moan sounding from him as he clearly seemed unable to continue to fight against the space hunter.
  21. Okay, the pirate only gets an 18 on his pilot check, so he is not pulling away. Trying to resist the trip, he rolls a natural one, so is yanked off his bike, bringing the chase to an end.
  22. Veronica Veronica gave a nod in agreement with Kam's statement that Micah had not had a chance to learn in bad habits in regard to swimming. "Kameron is right, better to go into learning something like swimming without having picked up habits from trying to swim on your own." When Selena mentioned the pool not being heated, Veronica seemed in thought a moment before she responded, "I am pretty sure the school materials mentioned the pool being heated and in use from early Spring though late Fall. But even so, there is bound to be somewhere with a pool nearby that we could get some access to for lessons if needed." She then focused back on Micah. "But of course, it is up to you if you wanted to try to learn to swim or not. I am happy to help if you wanted, just let me know."
  23. So, was wanting to see which PCs from the current Claremont class might be interest in being part of an outdoor club for things like hiking, rock climbing and the like. Of course, my Claremonter, Veronica Danger would be interested in this.
