  1. EP, if I could get a notice check for Queenie as well.
  2. GM "I thought it was pretty much a given that the majority of things on this planet were trying to kill us." Soreen responded. Starshot’s examination of the creatures did not reveal very much, they seemed rather similar to jellyfish, soft tissue interiors and some glands that perhaps produced the acid. One difference than jellyfish was there appeared to be some air sacs that were occasionally puffing full of some gas, or letting it out, allowing the large creatures to rise or descend in the air. There were openings around the sides of the dome shaped top to allow it use the gas to direct its movements in the air. "Kurabanda scare them away from village by using smoke and fire." Ermorda replied. "But demons from far sky still long journey, not likely able to steer these that far."
  3. Well, those certainly are some ideas for threads that could be used Ari (though I plan to work on something for the Praetorians involving the Grue at some point), but Star Knights likely do much more than just that. They are involved in helping patrol star lanes for pirates, help deal with natural disasters (even ones on a planetary/system scale). So, there can be a variety of threads in addition to the storyline I wanted to work on. As for breaking up the armor to a Star Squire, only issue I see is that likely removes the flight/interstellar travel capabilities and life support, which makes them harder to use in concert with full Star Knights. Likely just better to scale down the armor slightly for a lower PL (there likely can be some modifying of things anyway, like if someone has a Star Knight with a higher Con, the ranks of Protection would need to drop some0. Anyway, unless there is some more interest soon, it might just be you and I to start.
  4. So go ahead and give me another initiative roll, don't forget the +8 Lawrence is providing.
  5. GM Seresk nods as he grabs a breath mask, the only thing he needed to fully be able to function in the vacuum of space and then did his best to take over the controls of the shuttle given his large size. He also responded to the hails from the planetary defense forces, identifying them and their purpose. Sitara then went to work, pulling open panels to circumvent the ship's fail safes in order to make the dangerous maneuver. It took a bit of time, the comet/ship continuing to pull further away as she worked, and drawing ever closer to Kembel. Finally she finished her preparations, took her seat once more and took over the controls as she activated the ship's hyperdrive. The controls jumped in her hands, wanting to resist the various stresses pulling against it as there was the familiar shift to the white of hyperspace, but it was only a flash, as the shuttle lurched back into real space, several panels within the cockpit exploding from the stress and backlash caused by the maneuver. Sitara was just able to maneuver the shuttle between the retroboosters along the surface of the "comet," as the shuttle's engines flared out. The craft slammed down hard with a jolt, and skidded dozens of meters along the surface, narrowly avoiding any of the boosters intended to slow the "comet" once it reached the atmosphere. Even as the shuttle came to a halt, Seresk and Sitara bombarded by the surging electrical currents that surrounded the surface of the "comet," more of the shuttle's systems exploding from the surges as well. Seresk grunted slightly as electrical currents arched over his scaly hide, but clenched his large fists and resisted the current.
  6. Yes, the rule of cool will play into this a lot. It will take a HP to do this (basically Inventing) but that will get cancelled out by throwing yourself into danger. GM post in coming. Will need a DC 22 Reflex save and then a Toughness save (DC 21 if you make the Reflex save, DC 27 if you miss it) Seresk misses his reflex save, but makes the toughness save.
  7. GM The hovering figure in white and black had been focused on the robed figure when it had spoken, but when SFX and Rev began to talk, the humanoid turned her head to look down at them. "You are Terran, correct?" She said in English with an accent unlike anything any of them had heard before. But before any answer could be given to that question, the robed figure answered the one posed by Rev. "He is the key to vast power, or the defense against it. Either way, his destiny shall be mine to shape. It would save yourselves great suffering to hand him over." The figure stated in its cold, hollow voice. Once again SFX heard it speaking Mandarin, Rev and Lawrence in English, what the others nearby heard one could only guess. The large reptilian figure standing nearby looked down at Lawrence and the two teenage girls for a moment, then looked back up at the robbed figure as it moved forward, placing itself between the trio of humans and the robbed figure. "There will be no handing over of anyone. I will give you one warning to stand down." Replied the hovering female humanoid, continuing to speak in English, a steely firmness now in her voice as she also focused on the robbed figure.
  8. Okay, the below is the beginning of a guidebook page for some of the alien races discussed in the 3e Cosmic Handbook, along with some templates for some of them. Humans/Humanoids As a result of the actions of the Preservers, humans and offshoots of the human genotype are among the most common “alien races” in the galaxy. As the Lor began to spread among the stars, they noted the genetic similarities between themselves and the various humanoid races they encountered. This led to the Lor adopting the term vellorvan (“Children of Lor-Van”). The Lor believed that these genetic similarities were a result of the intervention of their “Star Gods.” There are those among the Lor that believe their civilization had previously ascended to the stars, leaving behind “lost colonies” of this “First Age.” Others believe that the Star Gods took some of their chosen away from Lor-Van, leaving behind the bulk of the race to follow the path to the start laid out for them by the Prophets. The Lor reject Daedalus’ theory that they originated from Earth. In addition to the Lor and the Zultasians, human genotype species are found inhabiting Aljor, Wynn, Xol, Karath, Giaus and dozens of other worlds. Due to the widely varying environments of some of these worlds, these humanoids can possess a wide range of phenotypes when comparted with humans from Earth, resulting in skin tones ranging from almost completely black to dusky grey and various shades of brown (tan, golden, pinkish tones) and even to pure white. The toughness and durability of their skin can vary just as much, and the hair and eye colors come in far greater variety than found on Earth. Some of the humanoid races possess extreme genetic adaptations related to the environments in which they live, either as a result of Preserver experimentation (which sometimes included splicing human genotype with native species), evolutionary adaption or other specific genetic engineering. Some examples of such adaptations are the Dotrae (which possess antennae and smooth, hairless skin) and the Ealas (humanoids possessing feathered wings and the ability to fly). 9. GM The chase through the sky had been spotted by many of the crowd that was making its way through this space city. So there had been many looking into the air before Rev and the other two had begun to fall, so by the time Rev just managed to stop their and land, the crowd had cleared a space around them. Looking up into the air, Zhu and Rev saw the five simulacrums begin to levitate downward toward the ground, but before they could reach all the way down there was a loud *WOOSH* in the air as a new figure flew into view, slightly off to one side and midway in the air between the three on the ground and the simulacrums. The newcomer was a female humanoid, with dark orange skin and a lithe build. She had long hair that was black/dark purple in color and her eyes were a dark yellow. She was dressed in a full length white bodysuit, with black diamonds patterns with golden yellow trim that covered the shoulders and upper chest. She had black boots with similar golden yellow trim and a long black cape that flowed down behind her. The figure spoke in a loud voice that carried over the open space, looking between the two groups, but whatever it was she was saying it sound like the language Zhu and Rev had heard from the other beings that had encountered so far. Suddenly there was a loud *WUMP* as something landed a short distance away from Zhu, Rev and Lawrence. That something turned out to be a towering reptilian humanoid that stood at least eight feet tall. The reptilian had massive, stocky build and was covered in green and brown scales and a ten foot long tail that ended in a spiked ball. Two other figures were approaching in the air as well, one a hairless male humanoid with dark green skin dressed in a black and dark blue bodysuit. The other was a female humanoid with dark blue skin and white hair. She was wearing a gold-yellow coat with long tails, with a skintight costume of pale icy blue underneath and orange leather knee-high boots. But Zhu, Rev and Lawrence were just taking in these newcomers when the simulacrums stopped descending and hovered where they were for a moment. Then, they vanished. "You children have proven to be quite an annoyance." Stated a cold, hollow voice. Zhu heard it speaking in Mandrin, while Rev and Lawrence heard the words in English. A quick glance around reveled a figure that had appeared on the rooftop of a nearby one story building. The figure was tall, but completely concealed beneath a tattered hooded black robe. No face was visible within the hood of the robe, only a shadowy darkness. "I had not anticipated your interference, but Lawrence Harrow will not escape me."
  10. GM Ermorda looked up to where Starshot was pointing and his eyes opened wide with fear. He immediately shouted out something in his native tongue as he began gathering up his weapons. "Move, safety!" He yelled simply in Gal Standard. The other Kurabanda moved quickly to scope up anything they had out and run away from the tree the group had been sitting under. Soreen was slightly caught off guard, but grabbed her pack and was soon moving after the Kurabanda. Laark had to half drag Phalen, but was able to get clear as well. Stopping a short distance away, Starshot was able to safely look back at the Bachanda tree to see what was happening. Now that he had a better vantage point, the space hunter could see several creatures that looked like flying jellyfish had settled over the tree. Each was about four meters in width and had long tentacles that dropped down into the foliage of the tree. The creatures hovered in place for a time, Starshot able to watch as the tentacles seemed to release acid which broke down the organic matter in the foliage, so the creatures were able to consume it. After a few minutes, the creatures floated away, leaving a large section of the Bachanda tree stripped bare of foliage and scarred by the acid.
  11. GM "Yes, very dangerous." Commander E’tten agreed. "An easy pathway into the heart of Lor Space, connected to numerous other regions. And just one of a few in Lor Space. Naturally we have taken that very seriously as you can see, while still accommodating the increased efficiency created for intergalactic trade." He then looked back up toward the wormhole. "I am not sure anyone has been able to confirm whether all the possible destinations of the network are known or not. There have been studies of the network, and likely will be more, so I imagine there is much about it that is unknown. Among the most important things that I have had to know about it is that in addition to allowing far quicker travel between various points, its occasional instability has resulted in ships being lost completely, or ending up at the wrong destinations. More than a few transport pilots tell stories of encountering strange creatures within the wormholes."
  12. That will be good enough. I believe your entire action will be grabbing both of them and then righting yourselves before you hit the ground (this is basically the equivalent of being knocked down and having to stand back up).
  13. GM Ermorda tried his best to answer Starshot's questions, but there were often some difficulties given his incomplete knowledge of Gal Standard. But Starshot was able to get a picture that the Kurabanda were a group that valued physical prowess in high regard, respecting those that were good hunters and fighters and individuals that uphold the honor of family. Family appeared to be the basis of their society and everything else built on that. They were primarily hunters and gatherers, but had learned at least some basic agriculture in that they nurtured and cared for the fruits and vegetables they harvested, insuring a renewing supply. Their bows were well made, built with a draw that reflected the particular strength of the wilder. The arrows were as well made as one could expect given their resources, straight shafts, well maintained fletchings and metal arrowheads. When discussing the pirates, Ermorda answered the questions regarding how long they had been there in terms of moon phases. As Starshot was not familiar with the phases of the planets moons, he could only guess that the pirates had been on the planet for anywhere from seven months to a little over a year. Ermorda explained there had been others from the far sky that arrived before the pirates, but they were willing to trade with the Kurabanda and did not attack or capture them. He believes the pirates either drove away or killed these others. He could not answer for certain how many pirates there were, but the outpost they were heading toward usually had about a dozen, although the pirates they had faced the day before were likely among that number. As Starshot was talking with Ermorda, he noticed up in the tree above them, what appeared to be multiple long tentacles lowering down through the leaves on the branches…
  14. Round Three 16 Lawrence (unharmed, fatigued) 16 Rev (unharmed, 4 HP, paralyzed) 16 SFX (unharmed, 2 HP) 13 Not!Megan #2 (unharmed, dazzled (3d round)) 13 Not!Robert #2 (unharmed) 12 Not!Megan #3 (unharmed) 12 Not!Robert #3 (unharmed) 5 Not!Megan #1 (unharmed) 5 Not!Robert #1 (unharmed) So as the round begins, make another Will save for Rev to try to recover from the paralyze.
  15. GM It was a good thing Zhu reached out to grab ahold of Lawrence, as his hold on Rev's arm was not the best, and at the speeds Rev was going, he might have not been able to hold on if not for Zhu. But as fast as Rev was, that speed did little when there was only limited space for them to go. They did not even cover two thousand feet in the direction Rev had chosen, when they came to a wall that arched up toward the ceiling above. And as high as that ceiling was, it was still limited. As Rev came to a halt to try to decide what direction to head next five of the simulacrums appeared in the air near them. "We told you that you could not run." They said in unison as they began firing the blue paralysis beams at Rev. The majority of the attacks misses, or at least seemed to miss, but as Rev was moving aside to avoid one beam, she was struck by another. Once again she felt the chill of the paralysis effect cause her body to go ridged, and then she, Lawrence and Zhu began to fall….
  16. While your chatting with Kurabanda, give me a Notice check please.
  17. GM Queenie and Traveller left the bar with Officer Dressa, who led them back toward the central law enforcement headquarters. Once there, the Sigian led the two Praetorians to one of the upper levels of the building, where they entered a large room that went down at least two stories by way of several terraced sublevels, each of which contained a row of stations where numerous officers were busy monitoring holo displays and handling communications across the orbital city. On the far end of the room was a massive display screen that had dozens of smaller images within it, each showing different locations within the orbital city, the scenes occasionally changing from one location to another. Officer Dressa led the Praetorians a couple of sublevels down to a partially empty row of stations, and then to the nearest empty one. Activating the interface located there, the officer looked up at Traveller. "What information do you need me to access for you Praetorian?" She asked. Down in the lower levels Barrier and Hyperslice had left the bar and started toward the hanger where their ship was docked, but they had not stopped at the hanger, but instead had descended into the lower levels of the orbital city, looking for the areas where Traveller had been told the Indigo Moon typically frequented. The first dozen lower levels were still rather clean and spacious, just not quite as open as the upper levels. Many of them contained living quarters from the city’s residents. But the deepest levels were much darker, more cramped and dirtier. The passages were just tall enough for Barrier to walk through standing up, but from time to time she did need to duck her head to pass underneath an exposed pipe. There were a number of shifty looking individuals within some of the shadowy passages of the area, but none seemed interested in bothering the towering Lyankan or the large Haasaan.
  18. GM "Indeed there were." Commander E'tten replied in agreement when Quill mentioned the number of lives lost. As Quill sat down on the deck of the hanger, the commander signaled to the security personnel that were behind him, indicating they could go back to their normal duties. He then turned his attention back to Quill. "No, the war is over, the Communion were defeated, but it was not an easy victory and took the combined forces of most of the quadrant. There are several other wormholes like the one out there, where worlds once existed. All of these wormholes connect together, which is the reason for the security here, although they can sometimes be unstable. There is even one in your home system, Sol." "Your system was much luckier than most, heroes from your world stopped the Communion’s weapon at the edge of the solar system and the wormhole was created when it destroyed itself." He quickly added.
  19. Okay, NM#2 makes a Fort check to recover from the dazzle but fails The other not!people will appear in the air out in front of you all. NR#2 will fire at Rev, but he misses. The other two Not!Megans will aid the Not!Roberts, both succeed. So the other Nor!Roberts will power attack (-2/+2) and attack Rev: 27 and 15, so one DC 22 Will save for Rev. Also, +1 HP to SFX for being removed from where she could access material for her main array.
  20. GM Laark and Soreen checked all of their gear as well, adding in some salted meats and other food provided by the Kurabanda. The group's water supply had been topped off once more as well. Ermorda and the warriors accompanying him were each carrying a bow, a quiver of arrows, an metal axe and a satchel in which they carried their food and water. As the group prepared to depart, Chief Auramanda came to see them off and soon they were back down on the forest floor, walking underneath the towering Bachanda trees. Ermorda led them toward the east as they soon passed out of the area immediately around the Kurabanda village. The continue on for several hours, until the sun has reached its zenith in the sky when Ermorda calls a halt to rest and have some food and water.
  21. Okay Blaze, SFX is up.
  22. OOC for rolls!
  23. Round Two 16 Lawrence (unharmed, fatigued) 16 Rev (unharmed, 4 HP, paralyzed (2d round)) 16 SFX (unharmed, 1 HP, dazzled recovered this round)) 13 Not!Megan #2 (unharmed, dazzled (2d round)) 13 Not!Robert #2 (unharmed) 12 Not!Megan #3 (unharmed) 12 Not!Robert #3 (unharmed) 7 Station Peacekeepers (2 minions; both dazzled (2d round), one paralyzed (2d round)) 5 Not!Megan #1 (unharmed) 5 Not!Robert #1 (unharmed) Okay, back to Rev, she becomes unparalyzed per your roll, so she is up.
  24. GM Lawrence was just able to close and cover his eyes when Rev set off her flare, avoiding the blinding effect. Most of the simulacrums were able to avoid the effect as well, although one of the ones made to look like Lawrence's mother was effected by the flare. Many of the nearby crowd were not as fortunate, and a bit of panic began to set in for both the blinded bystanders as well as those that were further away. The two uniformed individuals were also affected, turning away slightly as they lost their vision. Then the simulacrums began attacking with their strange energy attacks. Both SFX and Rev were hit, the latter being hit by two beams. As had happened at the house, SFX felt a numbness wash over her, but as before she was able to shake it off. Rev felt the same feeling, but was not able to completely resist it, as she found herself unable to move, frozen in place. Lawrence slipped out of her frozen grasp unintentionally, but landed on his feet. The two uniformed beings chose not to reach for their weapons, being unable to see. The reptilian one used its right hand to feel its way down its left arm to where a metal bracer covered the forearm, he began typing something on interfaces along that device. The other appeared to be speaking into some sort of communication device, but again neither SFX nor Rev could understand what he was saying. This caused one of the Megan simulacrums to turn around and shot him with the blue energy beam, which caused the uniformed man to freeze in place similar to Rev. Many of those nearby the confusion that could still see began to run away from the unfolding chaos, while a few remained behind to try to help lead away those that were momentarily blinded.
  25. Go ahead and make another Will save for the next round (at +1 on the roll) to see if you shake off the effect.
