  1. Do you want to reroll the first one, or be paralyzed?
  2. Good roll. Moon-Moth does find a access panel and takes a look at the circuitry inside (no simple wires) and he is pretty sure he cannot do anything about the forcefield without also disabling the engines that are in place to slow this thing down. In any event, that disable device roll is not good enough to disable the system.
  3. While we wait for the IC post, NM#2 will fire at where she recalled Rev to be but misses. NR#2 will fire at Rev as well, he hits, so DC 20 Will save for Rev. NM#3 will fire at SFX (who thankfully has her full defense thanks to activating her spatial awareness), Power Attacking (-2 atk/+2 dam) and misses. NR#3 will also fire at SFX and power attack as well, he hits, DC 22 Will save for SFX. The two station police are not going to start shooting blindly, but they are doing other things that do not require rolls. NM#1 will turn around and shoot at the peacekeeper that calls for backup, power attacking and taking 10 to hit. He has to make a DC 22 Will save and badly fails and is paralyzed. NR#1 will fire at Rev, also hitting so another DC 20 Will save for Rev.
  4. The Confuse, has no effect on the not!people.
  5. Ouch. So, you are blinded now, but can make a Fort save each round to overcome the dazzle (+1 each successive roll). And, SFX is up!
  6. Man, so many rolls to make. Lawrence saves vs the AoE, making it with a 23, he has Evasion, so that is all he needs to roll. Not!Megan #1: misses roll vs AoE, but still makes roll vs Dazzle. Not!Megan #2: makes save vs AoE, so only needs to beat a 14 for the Dazzle, but still misses that save. Not!Megan #3: misses first save; but makes second save. Not!Megan #4: makes AoE save; makes reduced dazzle save. Not!Robert #1: misses first, but still makes dazzle save. Not!Robert #2: makes first save, and makes makes dazzle save. Not!Robert #3: makes first save; and makes second. Not!Robert #4: makes first save; and just makes second. Station Peacekeepers: 19 and 9, so one makes the first save, one does not. But both miss the save vs the dazzle effect. Not going to roll for all the bystanders, some might have avoided, but most did not. Need two reflex saves for SFX Blaze, first is DC 18. If she makes that, the second is DC 14, if not the second is DC 18 as well.
  7. GM The sudden appearance of the six simulacrums appeared to startle the crowd of beings around the lost trio from Earth. But before any of the others gathered nearby could react, Lawrence once again managed to be the first to act. His hands moved in a blur as he grasped one of Zhu and Lexa's hands. Just as they had felt at Lawrence's home, the world around Zhu and Lexa appeared to slow down ever so slightly. Lawrence then released their hands, as quickly as he had grasped them to allow them to have them both available as needed.
  8. Round One 16 Lawrence (unharmed, fatigued) 13 Not!Megan #2 (unharmed) 13 Not!Robert #2 (unharmed) 12 Not!Megan #3 (unharmed) 12 Not!Robert #3 (unharmed) 9 SFX (unharmed, 3 HP) 8 Rev (unharmed, 4 HP) 7 Station Peacekeepers (2 minions) 5 Not!Megan #1 (unharmed) 5 Not!Robert #1 (unharmed) Okay, so once again Lawrence will provide Improved Initiative 2; Speed 4 and Quickness 4 to SFX and Rev That will bump both up to 16 initiative (would actually be 17 for SFX, but because she is getting jumped ahead starting on 16, we will go with that number). So, either SFX or Rev can go (technically should be Rev, as she has the higher initiative bonus (and Dex).
  9. So, initiative time again!
  10. GM "I am pretty sure I stopped them from moving us forward in time." Lawrence replied as the two girls discussed their predicament. "I guess I was not able to stop any movement through space, or at least not soon enough." Just as the three started moving away, some of the nearby crowd still staring, others having turned back to their own business, two figures moved out from the crowd ahead of them, moving in their direction. One appeared human, the other looked like some human sized reptile. Both were wearing similar uniforms and were armed, although their weapons were currently holstered. They did not appear to be aggressive, or at least the human looking one did not seem to be. The human looking one called out toward them, but whatever he was saying, neither Zhu nor Lexa could understand any of it. Before the two figures could reach the three, or Zhu and Lexa could decide how they wanted to react to the sudden attention, Lawrence stiffened slightly beside them. "They found us." He said in a low voice, just as the simulacrums of Megan and Robert appeared halfway between the three youth and the two uniformed figures moving toward them. "You cannot run." Stated the two simulacrums together as they faced Zhu, Lexa and Lawrence. "You cannot hide." Came two more voices to either side of them, as another Megan and Robert simulacrum appeared, one on each side. "The master will find you." Came a third pair of voices, as a third set of simulacrums appeared behind the trio.
  11. GM The Kurabanda led Starshot and his crew over toward another large platform and into a long structure that was built over much of this particular platform. Inside were several long tables with crude wooden benches set up. The inside of the building smelled of roasted meats and other foods, which were spread out over the tables. Starshot and his crew were led to a place over near where the chief and his son sat and soon the feats was underway. There was ample food and drink and plenty of stories of great hunts and battles that were told by Kurabanda warriors and translated for their guests by Ermorda. During the feast Starshot learned that the massive trees that filed this forest, and that the Kurabanda called home, were called Bachanda trees. After several hours, Starshot and his crew made their way back to the hut that had been provided them. Soon they were off to sleep to prepare for heading out to find the pirates in the morning. The next morning, they were awoken by sunlight streaming into the hut and Ermorda and five other warriors arriving to inform them that they were their guides.
  12. GM Commander E'tten seemed rather surprised that Quill had not heard about the Communion or the Incursion, but when the scientist turned superhero again mentioned Chief Scientist Solak and confirming his identity the Lor officer's face saddened slightly. "I am afraid that Chief Scientist Solak was among those lost with Lor-Van when the Communion attacked." He pointed toward the forcefield that was holding back the void, toward the wormhole that was visible beyond, the steady flow of space ships continuing to come and go. "That is where Lor-Van once was, the Communion destroyed it with a weapon that created that wormhole in its place, after nearly five hundred Star Knights gave their lives to allow us to evacuate millions more off the planet before that happened. But even with their valiant sacrifice, we were unable to completely evacuate the planet."
  13. GM The two simulacrums paid no attention to SFX's illusionary Lawrence. Whether it was because they were not fooled by her clumsy attempt to con them or something else she could not tell. Rev meanwhile managed to pull Lawrence free from the two simulacrums with a forceful pull, but as she did, the physics of wherever they were (or perhaps it was the distortion Lawrence was causing) caused them to fly backward where they collided with SFX. As they all began to fall backward, Lawrence reached out with one hand and grabbed one of SFX's wrists. Suddenly the two teenage girls felt a strange jolt, and then they all landed in a pile on a hard surface, the tunnel of light gone. It took a moment but they began to regain their senses and took in their surroundings. They were in a wide open area with lots of low buildings, which at first suggested that they were in a city. But then they saw what appeared to be walls off in the far distance, going up into the air. Looking up, they saw a high domed ceiling above them, from which large sections had been replaced with some sort of translucent material. Out beyond the dome they could see the star filled blackness of space beyond a bright glowing cloud nebula and a small, brightly shining blue star. Even as the shocking view beyond was starting to wear off, they realized there was a crowd of people nearby that had stopped, startled by their sudden appearance. Only, these were not like any people Rev or SFX had ever seen. There were what looked like some humans, with bright green or purple hair, wearing unusual jumpsuits. But they were nothing compared to others in the crowd. Amongst the crowd were what looked like humanoid insects, other humanoids covered in fur and what looked like some sort of man-sized amorphous blob.
  14. GM Chavez gave Jessica a quizzical look as they started walking away from the bus stop. "I'm not sure who you’re talking about Red." He said. "I have not brought any other girls here." He then shrugged and her question about competition. "I wouldn't worry about it chica, there are sure to be other girls there. I hear the Dark Fist are celebrating some sort of big score or something. But you? I don't think you have anything to worry about." They walked a few blocks from the bus stop and came up to an old warehouse. From the sidewalk it looked dark and abandoned. But standing near entry way into the outside lot behind a chain link fence were a pair of Chinese young men. Chavez led Jessica over towards the two men, who turned to regard them, tensing slightly. "You Chavez?" One stated as the pair drew near, his hand resting on the grip of a pistol tucked into the waistband of his jeans. "That's me." Chavez replied, holding up his hands to show they were empty. "This is Red." He then added, indicating Jessica.
  15. Giang gave the departing Claremont students a small smile and a nod as they left before focusing her attention back on Zhu. "Friends are one of the many things that makes a place a home." She replied. "I even found myself occasionally longing for the simplicity of the village in Vietnam that I had known as home for so long. But, of course, given the circumstances that led to my coming to Claremont, those feelings were more muted and eventually passed." "I imagine you will always look back at your memories of Shanghai with nostalgia, but with time you will come to view Freedom City with equal feelings."
  16. GM Jessica's bus reached the stop she was supposed to get off on, the last one before the bus' route turned back to the east to eventually wind its way back toward Midtown. She was the only one to get off at the stop, and the mood on the bus improved some once the unusual young woman was off. The bus stop was right under a streetlight, and island of light among dark shadowy sidewalks and alleyways, several other nearby streetlights burned out or broken intermingled with ones that actually worked. As the bus pulled away, Jessica spotted a figure standing in the shadows of a nearby alleyway. Once the bus was down the street he walked forward. "You must be Red." The man said with a heavy Spanish accent. "Damn, chica, you sure your wanting to get tangled up with the Dark Fist? There are so much better things you could be doing with your time." Chavez was a twenty-something Latino of about average height. He was dressed warmly for the cold night air and was giving Jessica a look she was more than familiar with.
  17. Tsunami "Thank you." Giang replied as Zhu complemented her on her motorcycle. "It was not something I ever though I would have, but Crimson Tiger and John introduced me to them and helped me learn to ride one. So when I needed a means of transportation after moving to San Diego, I bought one. I could always help you learn to ride one if you like, though I imagine you friend Rev could help there as well." As the younger girl thanked her from brining her out on this case, Giang just nodded and smiled. "There can come a point where training can only provide so much more improvement, and practical experience is necessary to truly know if you have improved. Remember what we have worked on and if you find yourself having difficulty, just stick close to either Crimson Tiger or myself." With that, Giang led Zhu up the fire escape to the top of the building. Just as Giang had expected, Crimson Tiger was up there waiting in a shadow corner of the rooftop, watching the building beyond. Giang fully expected the Mali already knew they were there, but she still spoke just so her friend could be certain who was approaching. "It is good to see you again Crimson." She moved across the rooftop to give her friend a hug, then turned back and indicated Zhu. "This is the Claremont student I mentioned, SFX."
  18. The ooc for this thread.
  19. Tsunami Giang Trang guided the motorcycle she was riding down the streets of the West End, weaving around a slower moving car as she went. The young Asian woman was wearing a full body suit of morphic molecules colored in several shades of blue in a pattern that seemed almost to flow and shimmer like water, the costume she wore as Tsunami. A dark blue domino mask completed the costume, but that was currently concealed underneath the motorcycle helmet she was wearing. Seated behind her on the motorcycle was Zhu Xieng, the Claremont student Giang had been helping as a mentor. As Zhu had been making good progress in the things Giang had been working with her on, the Asian young woman had figured it was time to take the teenager out for some observed practical experience. So, they were on their way to meet Crimson Tiger to help the other heroine on a case she had been investigating. Drawing close to the location where she had arranged to meet Mali, Giang slowed down the motorcycle and pulled into an alleyway. She found Mali’s bike already parked there and pulled up close to it as well. Killing the motor and dropping down the kickstand, Giang took off her helmet and looked back at Zhu. "Crimson Tiger should be waiting for us up on the rooftop." She said, nodding toward the nearby fire escape on a four story building.
  20. West End, Freedom City, New Jersey Saturday February 10, 2018 9:34 PM Mali Benjawan was standing on the rooftop of a four story building in West End dressed in the costume she wore as Crimson Tiger. Over the past couple of days Mali had been investigating the disappearance of several young people in some of the lower income parts of Freedom City. Her investigation so far (read: some roughed up criminal informants) had led her to believe that these disappearances where the work of the Dark Fist, a street gang connected with the On At-Zhang, a Triad that operated in parts of the West End. While Mali would normally not be overly afraid of pursuing things further on her own, as luck would have it her friend and former classmate at Claremont, Giang Trang, had reached out about wanting to help Mali with anything she might be working on. Giang had explained she was helping a current Claremont student with some things and wanted to get her a bit of crime fighting experience as part of the process. So the two had arranged to meet here. Mali had arrived a bit early, to watch over the location that her sources had indicated was a hideout for the Dark Fist. It was an old warehouse on the West End’s boarder with Grenville For the most part the warehouse was dark and appeared abandoned, but from her vantage point, Mali could see that the section toward the back had lights on, and there were lots of motorcycles parked out near the back entrance and occasionally people coming and going out there. A few blocks away Jessica Witchblood was on a Freedom City Transit bus, on her way toward the southeastern edge of the West End. The young woman had been looking into the disappearance of Hannah Ryan, a girl that was a peripheral member of the group of friends who worked in the clubs that Jessica was part of. Despite warnings from Jessica and some of her other friends, Hannah had gotten at least partially involved in some of the more dangerous criminal elements of Freedom City. And now no one had seen Hannah in a couple of days. Not convinced the police would put this as a high enough priority, Jessica had started looking into it herself. So far the best lead she had was that it might somehow be connected to a street gang known as the Dark Fist. So, now she was on a bus headed toward a place the gang was known to hang out at. The next stop would get her a few blocks from the address.
  21. Yeah, looking at the house rule again, I think your right. So we will go with that. Go ahead with your IC post! As for the aid issue, I was torn over whether it should still apply or not when Mess made such a drastic change in situation as to move as far away as he had. It all became moot when Jack missed to very badly that having the aid bonus or not did not matter.
  22. GM Commander E'tten regarded Quill with a steady gaze, his expression giving away little of what he might be thinking. "I am afraid our records from just before three cycles ago are not as complete as would be desirable. During the Communion Incursion, a number of inadequately backed up records were lost, in particular with Lor-Van." "But," he then continued, "while normally it might seem incredulous that you were able to escape from the Quantum Dark Zone, given much of what has happened over the last three cycles, I would be foolish not to accept it as a possibility." "So, I may not have a ready means of proving you are Doctor Quill, I am willing to accept that as true. So, is there something that the Republic can assist you with? Why did you come to the Lor-Van gateway?"
  23. So, time for a quick action. Not sure this quite warrants combat time at the moment though.
  24. GM The two simulacrums looked up at the two teenagers as the spoke. "The master is getting tired of your interference." Stated the one that looked like Megan. "You will be destroyed if you persist at trying to stop us." Added the Robert look-a-like. Lawrence looked over at the two teenage girls. "Zhu! Lexa! Hurry, I cannot keep them from moving us through space-time much longer." He said, a pained look on his face as he seemed to be exerting himself as much as possible. The time distortion around the three flickered slightly, but for the moment remained.
