  1. OOC for this thread. Zhu and Lexa have likely met at least one fellow student at Claremont that went to the Nicholson School.
  2. GM Lawrence looked between the two teenage girls a moment, then shrugged his shoulders slightly again. "I guess it is just a number of things really." He stated. "I generally like a lot of the same things they do, but…I guess I just see them a bit differently?" "I mean, I like most of the kids at my school and have friends, it..it is just kind of complicated. My parents hoped that having me at the Nicolson School would help with things as opposed to going to a local school here in North Bay and I guess it does?"
  3. GM As Mess reached out and took control over Malcom's blood, the Battle Brother staggered slightly as a look of exhaustion came over him. But he maintained his footing and at least partially shook off the effect, staying on his feet and in the fight, but he at least seemed to be a little bit slowed by the manipulation. Jack had been about to launch a left hook at Mess when he leaped away. The blond Battle Brother followed Mess' path with his eyes, a scowl coming to his face. Taking a couple of running steps, he easily leaped after the pugilist, his right fist cocked back as he went. But as he reached Mess and began to swing, the crafty fighter again dodged aside and the Battle Brother went flying past, his fist hitting only air, muttering curses as he went.
  4. Malcom gets a 17 on his Fort save, so is fatigued! Jack leaps up after Mess, but only gets a 13 on his attack roll, so misses regardless of whether the aid action still applied. So, Round Six 32 Foreshadow (bruised 3 HP, fatigued) 29 Synapse (unharmed 3 HP) 26 Hound (unharmed) 21 Malcom (bruised, fatigued) 17 Bloody Mess (unharmed, 3 HP) [6 th round of Boost] 14 Jack (bruised 2) Foreshadow is up!
  5. GM After a fire had been started, the Kurabanda ate some roasted meat and nuts that they carried in leather satchels they carried. They were quiet, even Ermorada, who appeared to be the only one that spoke or understood Gal Standard. After the Kurabanda had eaten, they climbed up the tree the group had stopped next to and set up their camp on the wide, lower branches, one of them taking the initial watch. Starshot, Laark and Soreen once again took turns on watch as well, the forest filled with many more night sounds than the shard grass had been. But nothing seemed to come near the fire, which they were able to keep going through the night, so the morning came uneventfully. After a quick breakfast, the troop was on the move again, the Kurabanda leading Starshot and his crew several more kilometers into the forest. At about mid-day, Starshot noticed a number of other armed Kurabanda up in the lower branches of nearby tress, who began following along as the group came to the Kurabanda’s village. Ermorada led Starshot and his crew to a massive tree that reached well over a hundred meters into the air. The nearby trees were all at least a hundred meters as well. High up in the air, in the lower section of the upper branches, Starshot could see a large village of multiple platforms and dwellings built in the tallest tree and spreading out to some of the nearby ones who’s branches were close enough for rope bridges to connect them. Spiraling stairs had been attached to the trunks of the largest tree and the nearby ones, twisting up towards the suspended village. Dozens of Kurabanda were busy at various tasks around the ground or up on other parts of the tree, all stopping what they were doing to stare at Starshot and his crew as they were lead up into the central tallest tree.
  6. Hey Blarghy, I have always worked under the assumption that the size modifier for vehicles (just like characters) is for both attack and defense. I have not found anything in the rules to suggest otherwise, so it is there to offset some of the attack penalty. Now that I look at it, I will probably roll the Enhanced Attack into the array as accuracy. Also, looking forward to your Praetorian! And as I mentioned in a PM to the currently active Praetorians players, I am mainly just hoping that everyone contributes about 4-5 PP worth of EP to the joint ships/HQ, but if you are comfortable donating 7 from an award that is up to you.
  7. I guess the only thing is you talk about her Spaceship but there is none purchased?
  8. APPROVED
  9. GM Laark still had the satchel of grenades over one shoulder as he finished stuffing his allotment of the food and water taken from the pirates into his pack. He then took one of the blaster rifles and a number of the spare energy clips. Once loaded to move, he dragged Phalen back to his feet, the former pirate doing all he could to avoid looking at the Kurabanda. In addition to her portion of the food and water, Soreen took a second blaster pistol, extra energy clips and a couple of portable work lights and other small survival gear that she stuffed into her pack as well. Pulling her pack back on, she moved over near Strrshot as the group began to set off after the Kurabanda, who led them deeper into the forest. The Kurbanda certainly knew their way around the forest, moving quickly along an apparently well known route, occasionally disappearing up into the large trees for a few moments before making their way back down to Starshot and his crew. They travelled several kilometers through the forest following after the Kurabanda. Finally, as the sun began to set, the Kurabanda came to a halt near the base of one of the towering trees. "Village still far distance." Ermorada said as the other Kurabanda began gathering fallen branches and other bits of small wood. "Rest and continue with new sun."
  10. GM Ambassador Raal had turned to face the reptilian Hak'tuk when he had been granted the floor, listening to the aged ambassador's words. "A maniac?" He finally replied. "Forgive me ambassador, but there would be no Khanate if not for the great Kinan Khan! He forged a collection of minor systems into a fearsome empire. He very nearly conquered the Republic." He paused and gave a small bow of his head to Lady Th'mme. "But that of course was some time ago, and has caused a great deal of bad will. Since that time and until the Incursion the Khanate and the Republic have co-existed peacefully. The great Star Khan merely wishes to return to that status quo." Out on the Main Plaza As Queenie and Spectra were continuing to take in the sights of CoVic Station’s central plaza, Spectra's communicator activated. "Spectra," came Elite's voice over the comm. "we have received a transmission from High Prophet Arolla-Nor of the Sacred Assembly of the Prophets, who’s ship has just arrived in system. She claims that Khanate forces are or will be attacking the Sacred Assembly's tower on CoVic Station, located at the far end of the Main Plaza. We have not heard any reports of any such attack, but with the situation in the Spinal Core and the meeting taking place in the Council Chambers, I would like you and Queenie to go ensure everything is as it should be."
  11. GM Officer Dressa righted herself after being shoved aside, straightening out her uniform. "Is this really you method of investigation Praetorian?" She exclaimed, real anger in her voice now. "Threatening our citizens who are peacefully going about their business? Disparaging myself and other law enforcement officers? If so, you are no better than those you are supposedly here to stop. Perhaps I should just report this to Counelor Farrin’s office with the recommendation that we withdraw our request for assistance." The squat Signaian then moved and placed herself between Hyperslice and any of the other bar patrons.
  12. GM "Well, that is the unusual thing Praetorian," the security chief began in response to Moon-Moth's question, "parts of the equipment was melted, but something that was hotter than the lava it is designed to deal with. But other parts were smashed or torn apart." He then shook his head to Spectra's question. "I am afraid not, this is generally viewed as rather routine work so surveillance is not considered much of a priority. Besides, there is not likely to be any beings from our competitors down in the areas that need to be pumped. We certainly can show you what we have recovered from the two incidents." He then turned to Cavalier and gave a small shrug. "I am sure you can appreciate Star Knight, there can often be wild rumors among workers in a location like this. The conditions are harsh and hours can sometimes be long. Even with what recreational facilities we can provide, that can wear on a being, cause them to see things that are not there. We often get claims of miners seeing something moving in some shadowy section of a mine, but nothing about moaning sounds or the like."
  13. GM Traveller brought the shuttle back around to try to stay parallel with the "comet," but without Moon-Moth's assistance, she shuttle began steadily falling behind. "The forcefield is likely why the local defense forces have been ineffective in stopping this object." Seresk commented from where he was toward the back of the cockpit. "Speaking off, we are receiving hails from some of the planetary defense forces to identify ourselves. Shall I?" On the surface of the unknown craft The electrical discharges continued to fill the air around them, but Moon-Moth's spell kept it well at bay from himself and Cavalier. This bought them a bit of a breather to more carefully examine the situation.
  14. GM "I am ten." Lawrence replied to Zhu’s question about his age, he then shrugged slightly. "I suppose. It is sometimes difficult to fully relate to all my peers." He added in response to her comment about his being very mature. He then smiled as Lexa and Zhu joked about facing "Doctor Dislocation." When Lexa offered to char his pizza, he held up his hands and shook his head. "Oh, that's okay, I rather like my pizza not blackened. But that it is pretty cool that you have built in plasma projectors." Then Zhu asked about who his favorite superheroes were and Lawrence smiled. "Oh, pretty much everyone on the Freedom League."
  15. GM Malcom briefly regarded Harry (in dog form) as he yelped and then turned tail in ran. The Battle Brother then focused back on the fight taking place. He glanced at the darting form of Foreshadow briefly and took a quick glance over to where Synapse was still standing away from the melee, but then focused his gaze back on Bloody Mess, who was going toe-to-toe with Jack. Stepping back closer to Mess, Malcom swung a large fist at the shorter man's head. Mess easily ducked underneath, but the attack was not actually meant to hit Mess, but to make him duck in order to set up a follow up by Jack. "You cannot dodge forever."
  16. Okay, Malcom will attempt to aid Jack’s next attack, getting a 22, to give Jack a +2 on his next attack roll. Mess is up Cape!
  17. Bibi, you Ranged Attack is actually +12, due to the two ranks of Attack Focus: Ranged you purchased (you should arrange feats alphabetically, so we don't miss things when they are out of order). You list your characters Toughness as +10, but he only has 4 ranks of a Forcefield, so would only have +4 Toughness. For your Stun device, why are you spending so much on a device that only uses three of the device points (when you are purchasing 10)? (and really Stun 2 flawed like it is only costs 2 DP, not 3). Why are you not making the stun gun better (ie using all the points in the device)? You are still not meeting any PL 10 caps (attack/damage or defense/toughness).
  18. Giang smiled as well at Zhu's question about how quickly they might be able to work on her confidence issues. "I cannot make any promises, but we will see if we can make some headway before Prom." When Zhu asked about how she found friends a Claremont, Giang gave a small shrug. "A number of different ways really, more often than not just by happen stance. The first true friends I made here was very shortly after I started, I had the good fortune to be sent with three other students, including the boy I mentioned being attracted to before, on a trip over a long weekend to a…very distant land. It was meant to be an opportunity to learn about the various peoples that lived there, we ended up fighting to protect that world from an attempt to conquer it by an ancient evil known as the Serpent People. Diversity tends to be an ideal means of developing familiarity." "Others I met through shared interests, such as mediation or training. But one of the closest friends I made was my roommate during my time here. She was about as different from me as might be possible, loud and aggressive. But we managed to learn to see past our differences and our friendship is one I will always cherish."
  19. GM Lawrence listened as Zhu explained how she had created the stocking cap. "I don't know, sounds like a power to me. I mean, not everyone has a swarm of nanobots that they can talk to and get to do or create things for them." He said with a shrug. "It must be really interesting to be able to talk to machines." He then watched as Lexa's arms reattached themselves, studying the process. "That was cool." He stated with a smile. "That seems a useful feature. But they do not come off easily do they? Or is it something you are able to control?"
  20. GM Lawrence was genuinely shocked, for a brief moment, when Lexa's arms fell to the ground, but then he picked one up and looked at it carefully, particularly where it attached to her shoulder. "This is impressive cybernetics." He said as he looked at the arm. "I assume it provides greater than normal strength?" He then looked over at Zhu as she explained what she could do and created the Santa cap on Lexa's head. "So you can talk with machines?" He asked. "It must be more to it than that if you can form material such as that stocking cap in moments. How are you able to create this?"
  21. "I can understand how that feels." Giang replied with a small nod as they walked along the sidewalks near the school. "When I was growing up in Vietnam, I was not allowed to interact with other children in the village at all, and as I was trained and educated solely by my guardians, I had no opportunity to interact with them in school. I did not have any friends, close or otherwise, until I came here." As Zhu talked about trying to meet the right people and turning someone’s eye, Giang smiled. "Again, I am afraid I am not the best for offering advice for turning someone's eye. It has not been anything I have prioritized, even when I was hoping to find ways to spend time with John. But other than just giving such things time, perhaps one thing that can help some is to develop more confidence in yourself. That can often go just as far as physical appearance in making yourself more appealing to others."
  22. GM There were a few smoke grenades among the mix, but the majority were explosive grenades. Lark caught the sack and slung it over his shoulder. They had collected over a dozen energy weapons, blaster pistols and a couple of rifles, as well as extra energy clips, particularly if they only took a couple of the weapons but all the clips. Phalen had finally unfurled from his fetal position, but was still muttering to himself. A glance a one of the nearby fallen pirates reveled to Starshot the same tattoo that Phalen had on his arm. The Kurabanda were talking among themselves in their language. Finally Ermorada moved forward. "Starshot and others must come to Kurabada village."
  23. Synapse will continue trying to mind blast Jack, he again gets a 26, so is just fine. Hound is up again Cape!
  24. Synapse Must be something about the dark cape and mask that attracts those types. Synapse replied over the mental link. She took a moment to glance over at Bloody Mess, who was now back in his normal body. You know love, it would be nice if you stopped trying to resist this. We are wanting to better coordinate how we are going to beat these two blokes. The British woman then focused back on Jack as red psychic energy once again flashed in the darkness and struck the blond Battle Brother's mind. Jack grunted slightly once more but was again able to shake off the mental attack.
  25. GM Lawrence gave Lexa a slightly critical look. "Why wouldn't I believe in magic? At any given time there are about a dozen significant practitioners of magic in Freedom City. Santa Claus, on the other hand, I stopped believing in about two years ago." The trio then set about getting something to eat. Megan had set out plates with the pizza boxes, and Lawrence showed them the various drinks (non-alcoholic) available in the refrigerator. As they began eating, Lawrence looked between the two teenage girls for a moment and then asked. "So you both go to Claremont right? What are your powers?"
