With the goal of developing support for the each area of the in-universe setting and dividing responsibilities more evenly among the Ref and Guide teams we're introducing 'departments'. The basic idea is to have smaller sub-teams more focused on each area to make it easier to organize content and keep track of who needs to do what. The departments are: Bedlam City - trollthumper, Avenger Assembled, alderwitch Claremont Academy - Tiffany Korta, angydurf, olopi Emerald City - HG Morrison, Ari Space - Gizmo, Thevshi, Electra Character Approvals and Edits - Fox, Ecalsneerg, KnightDisciple You'll notice right away that Freedom City at large doesn't have its own department. That's because the core of the setting already gets plenty of support and will remain a more communal responsibility. What will these departments look like in practice? The Refs in each department will be aiming to be GMing at least one active thread in their area at any given time and will generally be developing that area and setting up larger plots. If a player wants to know if a story idea is a good fit for Bedlam they'll know they can talk to troll or AA specifically, if a space-specific rules question comes up then Thev or Gizmo will be the go-tos. Meanwhile Fox and Ecal will be focusing on character approvals and edits, looking to streamline that process. Guides who are comfortable GMing will be tapped more frequently to help run threads in their area too but the main responsibility for them will be creating and maintaining guidebook pages relevant to their area such as NPCs and major events. They'll be the first place to go for players with questions about that part of the setting. Obviously Guides aren't able to do approval and edits but those in that department will focus on building resources for new players. Importantly this won't mean that any of Refs or Guides can't help with stuff outside of their department! Everybody will still be able to run threads in any part of the setting, all Refs will still be doing approvals and character edits as needed. The idea here is make things easier when someone is asking 'who do I talk to about this?' or 'what should I be helping with?'

GM Meanwhile, inside the hanger where the Khanate shuttle had docked… After the Khanate ambassador and his escorts have left the hanger, the remaining station Peacekeepers and Khanate soldiers had stood together in their own groups, keeping a wary eye on each other but otherwise just waiting until the meeting with the Coalition Counsel was over. After some time had passed, one of the Khanate soldiers moved away from his companions and walked toward the Peacekeepers. The movement drew the attention of the Peacekeepers, who all turned to face the Khanate soldier, but otherwise made no hostile moves. The Khanate soldier stopped only a short distance from the lead Peacekeeper, giving a small smile. "Say friends, I was wondering…" But the soldier did not finish his statement, as two figures seemed to materialize out of thin air behind the group of Peacekeepers. One was a Hassan, a snake like species with long snake tails instead of legs, but with humanoid torsos. The Hassan wielded a pair of curved blades, which it quickly lashed out with, dropping two of the Peacekeepers before they could register its presence. The other figure was a tall, lean Shoon, a four-armed humanoid female in a black reinforced bodysuit. She held a long staff in two of her hands, which became a blur as it struck two more of the Peacekeepers, dropping them to the ground as well. The remaining Peacekeepers began to react, reaching for their weapons as they turned to face the new threats. The one nearest the Khanate solider that approached felt a shock before dropping to the ground as well, the Khanate soldier standing there with an outstretched electrified glove. The others fared no better, as they were quickly hit by multiple energy blasts, as the other Khanate soldiers had dropped to one knee and quickly taken aim with their weapons. As quickly as it had begun, the fighting was over, and Khanate soldiers began dragging the downed Peacekeepers off to one side. Several more Khanate soldiers, all dressed in black and heavily armed emerged from the ambassador’s shuttle. In the midst of them was a tall, lean figured dressed in a white jumpsuit with a long coat over it. He had dark orange skin and short black hair mixed with dark red. His dark yellow eyes fixed on the Shoon and Hassan as he and the Khanate commandos with him moved forward. "We must move quickly. Our diversion will only last for so long."

GM On the surface of Kembel Seresk looked back at Sanitra as she spoke. "Do you have a plan for gaining access to this region?" He asked, suspecting that the long lived Terran did indeed have something in mind. Outer space not far from Kembel A trio of older Khanate spacefighters flew through the void in the direction of the orbit of Kembel's primary moon. The spacecraft were part of the forces that had aligned with the local government when it had declared independence from the Khanate. Given the struggle for control that had erupted in the aftermath of the Incursion, the planet had needed all the defense forces it could collect and had even begun reproducing its on spacecraft to add to those. Now its defense force was at least large enough that it gave its more aggressive neighbors at least some pause, together with the alliances it had managed to forge with other independent worlds and the Lor. The pilots of this flight were a mix of species, with one Zultasian, one Kembel native and the third a member of another world which had once been conquered by the Khanate decades ago. For all three these regular patrols seemed to have become almost routine, with only occasional smugglers trying to make their way to the planet of late. Today appeared as if it was going to be another no-contact patrols. But just as the trio of fighters were preparing to turn back around and begin the return trip, a small alarm began sounding in their cockpits as their long range sensors detected something out in the distance. "All ships come about and head towards sector Z15." The flight leader stated over the comms, as he began to bring his fighter around and move in the direction of the contact. The other two fighters quickly followed, resuming formation alongside the flight leader quickly. "What is it?" Asked one of the other pilots. "My sensors are picking up something large, or a cluster of smaller contacts." The flight leader was unsure himself as he looked at the screen displaying the long range sensor readings. "Move closer to attempt visual confirmation." He stated, as he began to accelerate. A few moments later, something began to appear on the far edge of visual range. The pilots all strained to make out what was there, but it only took seconds for the distance to shorten sufficiently to that the object was in view. The flight leader felt a bit of a chill as he banked his fighter off to one side, followed by the other members of his patrol. "Home Station, this is Flight Epsilon. We have encountered a rogue comet, and it is headed straight for Kembel!"

So he only gets a 20 on his toughness save, so I will give him a reroll (it was vs the DC 32). He gets a 31, so takes a bruise. HP to Barrier. Barrier is actually one size category bigger (he only has 2 ranks of growth), but he gets a 35 on his grapple check, so even with the bonus he would win. Okay, Ruby is up, pending the result of that toughness save!

Paradigm As Paradigm felt the ship begin to power down, she relaxed, releasing her grip on it. She was just drifting a short distance from the hull when Red Spear arrived, providing her applause. But her praise was quickly overshadowed by the Tinker speaking through one of his robotic servants. "I am not entirely sure Munn was of a proper state of mind in all of this." Paradigm replied to the robot and likely the Tinker, wherever he was. "Most likely he lost control to his obsession with Lexa, and could not handle her rejecting his attempts to monopolize her time." "Whatever the case, we will ensure Lexa is not seriously hurt and receives any treatment she might need." She added, before she drifted over to a section of the spacecraft and tore loose an outer hatch to provide access to the craft, or allow Barrier to exit now that she had things under control inside.

As I noted in chat, he is “president” of a world within the Lor Republic, so he is really little more than a governor. Hardly a position that provides diplomatic immunity, particularly when he was trying to kidnap another Lor citizen. Considering he has been caught in the act of kidnaping the chances of him getting away are rather remote. Personally I am not sure why there should be any significant consequences for doing our job and stopping a kidnapping.

GM Athru moved over toward Starshot as he and his companions hesitated, once again reaching out with a tentacle to establish a mental link between the two. No, cavern is safe path to sea of sands where Place of True Warriors lies. Easier than traveling on surface of burned lands Once everyone had dismounted from the lopers, several of the Ul-Mor gathered them together and began guiding them along through the cavern. Several of the Ul-Mor had lit torches, while Soreen and Laark took out powerful electrical lights that illuminated a fair area around the group. The Ul-Mor looked a bit marveled by the lights.

Paradigm "I will keep the vessel in place Barrier." Paradigm responded to her teammate before Barrier entered the ship. The Naram paragon felt the small robot as it attached to her forehead and transmitted an electrical shock. While the average sentient was likely to have been rendered unconscious by the electrical shock, Paradigm easily shook the effect off. As she continued to brace against the Deep Wave, Paradigm reached up to her forehead with one hand, grabbing ahold of the small robot and pulling it loose with easy. She barely gave it a second glance before she easily crushed it into dust.

Well, technically the tie goes to the character with the higher Initiative Bonus/Dex Bonus, but it is not really an issue here as our actions will not be interfering with each other. All Paradigm is going to do Cape is try to keep the ship in place and take the stun robot off her head and crush it, let me know if there needs to be any rolls this round.

GM A group of four station Peacekeepers were nearing the scene of the disturbance, all four armored figures approaching with their weapons drawn. But as they reached about a block away, a larger figure, almost as tall as Barrier, emerged from the shadows of a alleyway, stepping between the Peacekeepers and the others. The figure held in his two meaty hands a large energy weapon, which he leveled at the Peacekeeper, before it started emitting a rapid stream of energy bursts which quickly filed the air. The Peacekeepers barely had time to react before they were knocked off their feet by the barrage of energy blasts, which blew apart several of the makeshift merchant stands and blasted large chunks out of the walls of several of the more solid buildings in the path of destruction. When the barrage ended, the barrel of the large weapon was smoking, as all four Peacekeepers lay unconscious among the debris that littered more than a block of the nearby area. On the opposite side of the Spinal Core, the sniper once again lined up her aim, shifting back to her original target, even as Ruby tried to sight in Kazzan Suul. With a small smile, she pulled her trigger, another concentrated blast of energy streaking across the space between the two sides of the Core. Just as the blast approached the energy fields Barrier had put in place, it shifted its phase modulation, allowing it to pass unimpeded past the forcefields and striking Ruby dead on. Meanwhile Kazzan Suul scowled as he leveled his twin blaster pistols at Roulette. "You greatly overestimate your worth Turk." He snarled. "You and your friends presented an excuse to cause an incident, nothing more." With that he began rapidly pulling the triggers of his energy pistols in quick succession, sending a small barrage toward the forcefield that surrounded Roulette. The first blast managed to break apart the forcefield, but Roulette was easily able to dodge aside from the subsequent blasts as he was now free from the smaller forcefield. Over inside her energy cage, the insectoid bounty hunger slammed her wide double bladed sword into the field with tremendous force. The forcefield held, but cracks formed along its surface.

As the group of Peacekeepers draw near, a large alien moves into position to block their path to the center of the fight. He opens fire with a large energy weapon, using Power Attack (-4 atk/+4 dam) and Taking 10 against the minion peacekeepers, achieving a 18, which provides a +1 dam from autofire, for a total damage DC of 30. The peacekeepers cannot beat that, so they all go down in a hail of blaster fire. With Bliss still dazed, that brings us to…. Round Five 29 Sniper (unharmed) 27 Kazzan Suul (unharmed) tricked to attack Roulette 21 Melee Bounty Hunter (unharmed) 19 Barrier (unharmed, 1 HP) 18 Ruby Vox (bruised 2, 1 HP) – Aim Action on Suul 17 Jaas Bounty Hunter (unharmed, distracted (dazed)) 16 Bounty Hunter 2 (staggered, bruised) 15 Roulette (bruised, 3 HP) 15 Large Bounty Hunter (unharmed) 13 Bliss (bruised 3, 0 HP) The sniper will take another shot at Ruby, the Indirect on her attack ignoring Barrier’s force construct. She gets a 30, which with Improved Crit 2 is a critical hit. DC 30 toughness save for Ruby. Kazzan meanwhile gives in to his anger and fires at Roulette, using Power Attack (-2 atk/+2 dam), and his autofire, he only gets a 14, which still manages to hit the forcefield around Roulette for a DC 25 toughness save, but it bombs its toughness save with a 13, so it goes down. The melee bounty hunter will power attack the field next to her (-5 atk/+5 dam), hitting and triggering a DC 30 toughness save, this forcefield does better, with a 26 on its save, so it is just damaged. Barrier is up!

Paradigm gets a 34 so she is fine.

Okay, you manage to distract the Jaas bounty hunter. And just barely manage to trick Suul.

Paradgim Paradigm flew into the hanger and quickly took in the situation. Barrier was trying to stop a rather unusual starship from taking off, one that appeared to be almost liquid in form, which she reasoned was President Munn's vessel. One of the service robots appeared was on the ground, while a tiny robot was flying near Barrier. Confident that Barrie could take care of herself for the moment, Paradigm focused on the spacecraft. Streaking across the hanger with a small sonic boom in her wake, the Naram slammed into the side of the Deep Wave, trying to push it back to the ground. "I am afraid President that we cannot allow you to leave just yet. Please power down your vessel and allow us to board." She called out as the spacecraft tried to flow around her. But Paradigm managed to grab ahold of something solid within the ship and used it as leverage to hold the ship in place, then she overcame its momentum and power, forcing it back to the hanger floor.

She makes her DEX check with a 16.
-
Paradigm spots the small insect with a 33 on her Notice check. She will then fly over and try to push the Deep Wave back down to the ground, having a combined +34 for Str, Supers Str and Flight, she gets a 44, I might reroll if it looks like she will lose the contest.

Rav, we are not in a small motor boat, but a good sized ferry, as I liked in my first post: http://www.bookmestatic.net.nz/images/activities/1563_image1_web-magnetic-island-ferry.jpg -
Stellar Classification: Nebula, with a Neutron Star and companion Magentar Number of Planets: 0 For millennia, space faring races avoided the Kesteven system, a nebula, neutron star and its magentar companion the remnants of a long-dead supernova. But on the burned out remains of the last planet in the system, Kesteven 1, lay the ruins of the ancient civilization of the Progenitors. During the Incursion, a group of Praetorians travelled to the system, determined to be the next target of the Communion’s wormhole weapon and discovered the last of the Progenitors, Lelak. Both Lelak and the Praetorians fled the world when the Communion arrived, destroying the planet and creating another wormhole that was part of the network they were creating throughout the sector. Following the destruction of the Kesteven 1, the massive Communion mothership controlling the Communion forces in the sector relocated to the system to be near the wormhole that was now in place. When the Coalition forces launched a daring plan to disrupt the Communion forces and strike at the mothership, a small group of heroes traveled to the system and managed to destroy the central processing core of the mothership, rendering it inert and disabling all Communion forces in the sector, bringing the Incursion to an end. Notable Places: Coalition Victory Station (CoVic Station) Status Following Incursion: Since the defeat of the Communion, the system has become an important location within the neutral zone between the major space powers. The derelict Communion mothership has been repurposed as Coalition Victory Station, now home to millions of sentients from hundreds of species. The presence of the central wormhole of the wormhole network being established by the Communion means the system is a central hub of trade and travel within the sector. Coalition Victory Station (CoVic Station) Location: Kesteven 79 Following the defeat of the Communion and the end of the Incursion, the massive Communion mothership lay derelict near the wormhole now present in the system. The Coalition of worlds that had fought together against the Communion declared the station a neutral ground, renaming it Coalition Victory Station as a symbol of the cooperation that had stopped the Communion. With so many sentients displaced by the Incursion, many of their worlds destroyed or cyberformed by the Communion, millions made their way to CoVic Station, as it came to be known. Engineers from the Lor Republic and hundreds of other worlds worked to convert sections of the station into habitable zones, along with industrial factories, shipyards and other facilities. Embassies began to sprung up, as the station became the ideal location for the former members of the Coalition to attempt to continue to build on the cooperative spirit that had allowed them to achieve victory. While the Lor Star Navy had a presence at the station, a corps of independent peacekeepers from all the Coalition worlds was established to maintain order on the station. In addition, the Praetorians, who had returned to the galaxy in the early days of the Incursion to help fight the Communion once again, chose to establish their headquarters on the station. Currently several large areas of the station have been converted into city sized habitable zones, with several large archologies dedicated to food production established as well. But the bulk of the former Communion mothership is still uninhabited and deserted. Key Locations: The Main Plaza Located on the upper level of the largest habitable zone, the Main Plaza houses the embassies and other governmental buildings that had been established on the station. Several large open plazas and artificial parks line the center of the Main Plaza, with the various governmental buildings surrounding them. The Council Chambers Located at one end of the Main Plaza, the council chambers of the station was built to house the various members of the Coalition Council to conduct their business and debate important issues. While neither as large nor opulent as the senate chambers of late Lor-Van, the arched ceiling of the chambers is high enough to make the average sentient dizzy. Great round disks of burnished metal were laid into the curving walls, each broad enough for half a dozen humanoids to stand on with room left to move about. The platforms were layered in several rows moving up the walls, spaced so as to afford each of them a view of the empty space in the middle of the chamber. The Praetorian Headquarters The Praetorians selected a section of the station that begins along the edge of the Main Plaza and extends out to the exterior of the station. In addition to living quarters, training areas, laboratories and other amenities, the headquarters includes a separate hanger for the Praetorians’ spacecraft. The Spinal Core Beginning along one edge of the Main Plaza, the Spinal Core is a hundred-meter-wide shaft that descends well over a mile into the lower levels of the largest habitable zone. The engineers had not tried to alter the shaft during conversion of the station, instead setting up artificial gravity generators along the entire interior surface of the Spinal Core. As a result, two or three story buildings had been built down the entire interor of the Core. The Spinal Core had quickly developed as the central market place for the station, nearly every building filled with business, shops and cantinas. While there had been an initial attempt to set out orderly and symmetrical lanes between the buildings, expansion and additions, as well as numerous stalls place wherever possible had created twisting and curing avenues. Brickstown: One of the lower sectors of the main inhabited zone, Brickstown is a manufacturing hub that is home to a large number of the station’s independent Grue. For when it is needed, Paradigm also gets a 20 for her initiative (with a +6 initiative bonus).

Paradigm Amara only gave a brief few moments to watch the beginning of the opera, although she was not wanting to delay getting back to investigating Lexa's whereabouts. When Sphere provided the update on President Munn's starship preparing to leave, the Naram gave a small nod. "Thank you Sphere, I will make my way there now to see what Barrier has learned." With that, she took to the air, moving away from the stage some before heading upward once more and accelerating toward the hanger. While there was not definitive evidence yet that Munn was responsible for Lexa's disappearance, there certainly appeared to be an amount of circumstantial evidence that suggested he might be.

That would be a NOPE with the CHA roll, a 7. So close with the WIS roll, but only a 18. Wonldn't have bothered trying to write a speech if I had know it was going to be subject to just making a roll.

GM Trapped within one of the glowing fields put in place by Barrier, Ruby took the time to focus her aim on Kazzan Suul, waiting for a chance for the field to go down to take the shot if the hostilities continued. It was quickly apparent they were not going to cease so easily, as a insectoid alien covered in dark blue chitin stepped out from behind one of the nearby buildings. It was holding a energy weapon in one of its thin arms, but it did not use that weapon, instead sending a blast of psychic energy at Bliss, which further staggered the Xuli'pan.

Okay, so TA put up his roll in the wrong place last night and did not update here, but missed it, so that is another bruise for Bliss. Roulette is up HGM!
