  1. Okay, for those of us down on the surface (Corona, Traveller), can I get Notice and Sense Motive checks please. Paradigm: Notice: 29 Sense motive: 23
  2. GM In orbit: Magnetar took up a defensive position near the others, keeping a close eye on the area round them for any other possible ships, as well as on the Sar-lan's nearest defensive weapons as well. With Moon-moth masking the group's presence from anyone aboard the vessel, Mater Vyrdna was able to move right up next to the hull and meld with part of the Sar-lan to access its systems. Inside, the former Akarnian found a number of complex firewalls in place, but she was able to maneuver around those and gain access to the systems she needed to alter. After completing the necessary reprogramming, Mater Vyrdna engaged the airlock they were currently hovering near, after disengaging the internal controls that would alert the bridge that the airlock was being engaged. The outer door slid open, providing the Praetorians with access to the prison transport.... On the surface of Dreeda III: Paradigm led out a small group of Praetorians from the Devotion toward the waiting representatives of the colonial government, with an invisible Huhunu following a short distance behind and moving off to the side to keep an eye on things. Off to one side of the landing pad was a group of six maintenance workers, waiting for the clearance to begin providing any necessary consumables or other routine services for the vessel.
  3. Okay, to get the OOC stuff out of the way, Paradigm will shift her Power Reserve to add a point to her Flight (making it Flight 8), which slightly drops her Strength by 2. She will fly out after Bie Yie and punch him again! She gets a 25 for a DC 30 toughness save.
  4. Hey Shoji, thanks for the interest! As Rav and Shaen have stated, the idea certainly sounds like it fits with the Freedom City/Space setting, as for the background, either of the two you are thinking of could work. There would certainly be a place for such a character in the Praetorians. As for the mechanics of building it, I think Shaen has some great suggestions on how to do so.
  5. Dee had taken the envelope and then given Salazar and Ellis a small nod in goodbye as Agnus began to teleport them back to London. Moments later the four members of Vanguard were back in the central corridor of the Haven. While the sudden transport might once have disoriented the young Englishwoman for a moment, she was quite used to the feeling now. "Well…for starters I will be plugging this into an isolated system to run some scans." She stated in answer to Agnus’ question to the team, holding up the envelope Agent Salazar had given them. "Just to be sure there is not anything we do not want getting access to VERA. Assuming it all checks out clean, then VERA and I will start digging through what they gave us."
  6. Cavalier was not quite able to make it all the way to the Broan ship before the occupants of the vessel detected his approach and a pair of waring shots were fired in front of him that brought him to a halt. His armor's comm systems then picked up a transmission from the vessel. "Star Knight, this system has been claimed by Sovereign Dovox the First. You will vacate the system or you will be viewed as hostile!" Stated a deep voice that spoke in heavily accented Galstandard. The vessel trained several of its heavy weapons on the Star Knight, while a few others continued to pound the planet's orbital defenses.
  7. Down in the holding area, the group's bounty settled himself back down on the cot in the cell, going quite after Seika's rebuke and the comments from Ruby that could be heard over the ship intercom. Seika could feel the ship level out to a smoother flight and eventually set down. With the fires out and the ship out of danger for the moment, the others set about assessing how bad the damage was. Bliss confirmed that the containment field for the engine core was still intact, and there was no damage to the main thrusters. But as she and Ruby looked over the secondary systems, they determined that several of the key cooling exhausts had been damaged, which would make it all but impossible for them to get off the planet without the engines overheating. A number of other secondary systems were damaged, but not nearly as critical as those cooling exhausts. While they had a few spare parts aboard that would allow them to fix some of the damage, there were a number of things they did not have to try and fix the cooling system….
  8. Looking back, in an earlier post Ex already had Moon-moth casting his illusion to mask the group, so I figured I would keep us going forward. So Vahn, time for Mater Vyrdna to do her thing. Your Datalink lets you automatically interface with the ship's computers, so give me a computer roll for trying to take control of them and make them do what you want. Those down on the surface, feel free to make a post following Paradigm out onto the landing pad outside.
  9. GM In orbit near the Sar-lan Moon-Moth's spell seemed to mask the approach of the four Praetorians, for none of the Sar-lan's defensive weapons tracked their movements as they drew close to the prison transport. The large vessel dwarfed the four figures as they entered its shadow, and moved silently through the void of space. There was no readily apparent sign of activity aboard the vessel, although it was most likely in a computer controlled standard orbit, and if there was any beings aboard, if they were unaware of the group’s presence, there was unlikely any standard activity that would outwardly show signs of activity. Cavalier and Mater Vyrdna approached one of the forward airlocks on the transport, with Moon-moth and Magnetar close behind. Now it was up to Mater Vyrdna to try to gain undetected access to the vessel and keep internal sensors from picking them up….
  10. Paradigm listened careful to Corona's response, considering the Lor's observations carefully. "We do not yet know if the Sar-lan is empty, but I do agree it is more likely than not that it is at this point. The team still in orbit should be reporting shortly one way or another." The Naram rose from the command chair on the bridge as she continue, "in the meantime, we should not keep our welcoming committee waiting overlong. If there is any mental domination present, hopefully Moon-moth's spell will shield Traveller, and the rest of us will have to do our best to resist. Everyone, be ready to deal with possible hostage situations." The Praetorian then started off the bridge, signaling for the others to follow as she made her way down to the main exit ramp to see what sort of greeting awaited them….
  11. TIFF! Could use a post with Angus teleporting us all back to the Haven!
  12. Well, here is the guidebook page, which has some information, and links to the character sheets (many of the old Praetorians have some additional info on the Delaztri Empire). It also has links for all the threads they have currently appeared in.
  13. Well, your choice of course Heri. Though there has not been too much for the Praetorians since Incursion (pretty much all of it is still ongoing). One advantage to being one of the ancient members is you can just join in without any specific introduction (and if you get the character done quickly enough, it could be possible to fit you into one of the ongoing threads, like Deadly Dozen)
  14. Interesting Heri. Would you be looking to make the character one of the ancient Praetorians (one of the ones held in suspended animation by the Curator until the Incursion)?
  15. Paradigm found herself disappointed when her attempts to reason with those inside the hanger were met with hostility and distrust. They still did not know enough about what was going on to be indiscriminate in their actions, but it was at least clear there were Spectrum Knights who needed to be dealt with. And then the ball of fire erupted in the sky as Cavalier's transmission terminated, followed closely by Knight Glort being kicked by one of the Spectrum Knights and was sent hurtling into the energy sword wielded by the individual who appeared to be their leader. The Naram felt her fists tighten at the death of the Star Knight, deciding it was time for more direct action. Swooping down toward Bie Yie, Paradigm called out. "Enough! Your spree of murder and terrorism ends today!" With that, the Praetorian delivered a powerful blow to the Spectrum Knight, the impact of which was noticeable to those nearby. But despite landing a punch that could have smashed through the bulkhead of a star cruiser, the Spectrum Knight stood. The anger she was already feeling only intensified, as Paradigm launched an uppercut at Bie Yie, once again connecting solidly. While the force of the blow snapped his head backward a moment and caused him to take a few steps backward, once again the Spectrum Knight leader remained on his feet and in the fight...
  16. Okay, as indicated in chat, Paradigm will surge (using that HP you just gave her) to hit him again. This time she gets a 29 on the attack roll! Another DC 31 toughness save.
  17. Paradigm will attack Bie Yie, getting a 28. I believe that hits, so a DC 31 toughness save for him.
  18. Well, I was not actually counting Thurde as human (Traveller, Cavalier and Solar Sentinel, when Thunder gets around to revamping him). But in any event, one of my main goals as a GM and with the Praetorians was to offer as many opportunities as possible for players. So, with that in mind, I will work in Thurde and Queenie. In fact, I have some ideas in mind that could prove a good way to introduce both to space and the Praetorians.
  19. "That could very well be the case." Paradigm replied with a trace of humor, though she recognized the truth behind Sitara's words. They had been on enough missions together where things had quickly gone well beyond what they expected that it would be foolish to assume everything would go as one hoped. "Huhunu, if you could please engage your cloaking once we have landed and follow a short distance behind us when we disembark." The former marine gave a small nod as he moved toward the back of the bridge to wait for their landing. Paradigm meanwhile focused on the main viewscreen and the figures waiting for their landing. "What are your impressions Officer K’Zan?" She asked of the Lor representative present.
  20. Okay, still some minor things Lady Grim. Combat: You sort of have the points spent on attack and defense mixed up (should be listed 20 +10 = 30, but the total is correct). Initiative is actually +16 with your current dex, feats and powers. Skills: Need to list the 9 spent PP (it is missing at the top of the section). For Language, should mention that English is native (I assume it is her native) Also need to fix the spacing there. Feats: Spacing issues here as well. Also, not sure if you have been told about Attractive, your character can be as attractive as you like without the feat, the feat basically means the character knows how to use their looks to influence others. Powers: For Comprehend, drop the "Extras" in the bracket, as you have to define what you comprehend, so it is not an extra. So, for your super-senses, Detect/Awareness for Spirits (an uncommon descriptor) is only 1 PP, so you cannot have the Noticeable drawback on the power, as that would make it cost 0 PP. For the Device, it is only a 45 PP container, not 50. Also, I would point out that right now anyone could pick it up and use it (ie it is not restrictive). For the powers in the device, you need to make a bit more clear when there is an array with alt powers (ie the drain/strike), otherwise it looks like you are buying more powers than you have points. The Drain (I am assuming is a 2 point version?) needs to be a defined set of traits (ie any stat, one at a time). Affects Insubstantial is a feat (for 1 rank your drain is half effective against insubstantial targets, ie Drain 5, for 2 ranks, it is fully effective), so you need to calculate that cost in. Adding the Strike as an alternate power costs another 1 pp, making the Darin cost at least 22 PP, not 20. For the Strike, list it as AP: Strike 10 {10/20 PP} to denote that it is an alt power of the drain. You probably have way more points put into Dimensional Pocket than you will ever need. For Time Control, like the drain above, Affects Insubstantial is an feat and needs to be calculated in the price. Tiring is a Flaw, which means it would lower the cost of the power by 1 PP per rank. However, I would greatly advise against having this flaw, as it means each round you have the power in effect, you will take a level of fatigue (meaning you would be unconscious within 3 rounds, baring spending a HP to remove a fatigue level). I guess one issue I have is that most of the character's power is contained within her device. She also has no real way to move around (speed 2 in time control not withstanding). You might want to take a look at Fox's take on a pscyhopomp; Grim, although I realize that is built on more PP than you have to work with.
  21. Well, unfortunately one problem right now is the team is getting a little too heavy in the number of humans vs aliens (which the concept originally was designed toward). I would really like to expand the number of aliens on the team before adding any more humans.
  22. GM Up in orbit... Magnetar flew along with the other four that were dispatched to investigate the Sar-lan. The alien shook his head slightly at Cavalier's question. "I am afraid there is not much I could potentilly do Knight Steward, save perhaps overload the ship's sensors, which would likely be rather counterproductive." Aboard the Devotion... There was a brief pause before a response came to Corona's hail. "Copy Devotion, you are cleared for landing pad four. Please follow the indicated beacon." There was another momentary pause before the individual on the other end added, "there will be just a moment for the news feed. Been something of a slow day, even for out here." It was a few moments before the requested feeds were transmitted, Corona finding they mainly appeared to consist of weather reports and segments discussing plans for constructing several new buildings for an expected influx of new colonists displaced by the Communion incursion. Sitara, having replaced Huhunu at the helm, followed the indicated beacon, guiding the Devotion down toward one of the main continents on the northern hemisphere of Dreeda III. As the vessel drew closer, those aboard could make out a large expanse of cultivated farmland around a small collection of large buildings in the center. The main Lor colony on the planet consisted of approximately forty thousand inhabitants. Under normal circumstances, the colony would have been scheduled to expand gradually over a few decades, but given the massive displacement caused by the Communion, the expansion of the colony was likely to be greatly accelerated over the next year. The center of the colony consisted of about forty buildings, about half of them under three stories tall and the tallest no more than fifteen. The basic space port which served the colony was located to the north of the cluster of buildings, totaling five primary landing pads, with a couple of smaller ones for smaller shuttle craft. The Praetorians still aboard the Devotion could see a small group of individuals waiting near the landing pad they had been assigned, likely a combination of maintenance crew and representatives from the colonial government.
  23. Round One 20 Rahman (unharmed, 1 HP) 6 Gargoyles 4 Phantasmo (unharmed, 1 HP)
  24. Giang sat back down as well, opting for tea instead of a soft drink. She was not one to pry into secrets others had, nor to pass judgment on her friends' pasts and obligations. After all, it would be rather hypocritical given her own family dynamics. The Asian young woman gave her friend a small understanding nod at Blod's appology. "I understand. There is always the unexpected that seems to come up. In any event, you are here now, even if for a short time." "I hope that you at least had some voice in the decision, even if a minor one."
  25. Orbit above Galor III "Of course Mater Vyrdna." Seresk replied as he continued to monitor the readouts from the Kavaca's sensors. For the moment, there was only the larger vessel to deal with, but it appeared to be making some headway against the planet's orbital defenses around it. Surface of Galor III, Yollon City Khulan directed her mech-suit to climb aboard a nearby heavy-lift hoverveheicle to be transported to her assigned position. Other hovervehicles that were filled with mercenary infantry were already departing, moving to cover their assigned areas. Once the mech-suit was securely aboard the hovervehicle started off, accelerating as it exited the warehouse and pulled out into the streets of the outer city. The midday sun was high overhead, the heat reflecting up off the nearby sand and rocks. The inhabitants of the city were all moving quickly to shelter, leaving the streets and byways rather deserted. It was not long before the hovervehicle arrived at the eastern pass into the ravines that made up the heart of the city.
