  1. While the Voidrunner's autoguns had failed to hit one of the pursuing fighters, it delivered solid hits on the other, sending that fighter spinning out of control as it quickly dropped in altitude and crashed on the canyon floor. But the success was short lived, as the second fighter continued after the Voidrunner, opening fire with its blasters at the freighter. Several blasts stuck the Voidrunner's hull, rocking the ship slightly as the enemy fighter stayed closely behind the freighter. Ruby managed to keep the ship in the air, but it was beginning to get questionable how much more abuse they could take. Elsewhere, Roulette managed to reach the aft compartment which had been indicated on the fire alert display. It was a small maintenance room that provided access to a few of the ship's portside systems. One of the access panels had been blasted open, smoke visible from within.
  2. The other enemy fighter opens fire, hitting with a 20. That is a DC 25 toughness save (and remember the Voidrunner is at -2 for the save from earlier damage).

  4. Orbit above Galor III As Mater Vyrdna prepared to bring the Kavaca in close enough to allow Cavalier and Moon-moth to close and engage the pirate ship, Seresk continued to study the sensor readings. The larger reptilian Praetorian looked back over towards the Star Knight. "Additional scans have detected several smaller pirate vessels that have entered the planet's atmosphere and are headed towards one of the major population centers on the surface." Surface of Galor III, Yollon City Khulan had finished her start up procedure while those around her quickly began gathering their gear, reassembling weapons and preparing to deploy. Several transport hovervehicles were now loaded up with a half dozen mercenaries each, while dozens of others were ready to move out on foot to closer locations. The mercenary officers moved quickly through the groups, giving last minute deployment orders before groups of the mercenaries started off to their assigned locations. "Kulahn." Called out one of the officers as he moved over near the mecha-suit, looking up towards where Kulahn was roughly balled up inside. "You are going to supplement the locals' air defenses, position yourself near the eastern pass into Yollon City and shoot down any hostiles that come into range and be ready for possible redeployment orders." Like most of the cities on Galor III, Yollon City was built among a connected series of ravines and canyons, at most no more than two kilometers wide. The native species had thrived in these enclosed spaces, which provided not only a degree of shelter from the planet's harsh sun, but also tended to include cave systems which connected with underground aquifers which had been the primary source of water for the native species earlier in their evolution. Much of Yollon City's water still came from the underground aquifer beneath it, but improved technology had allowed the natives to improve replenishment of the aquifer's water levels. Most of the city was still built along the edges of the ravines, crowded with low modern plexisteel buildings that were often covered on the outside by plants, which helped keep the buildings cooler.
  5. Giang Trang guided her motorcycle down the San Diego freeway as she made her way to the restaurant where she was supposed to meet her friend Creys Pefr. Giang had been a bit surprised at the out of the blue call from Creys, but was a bit accustomed to that from her friend. Much like John, Creys was often off somewhere on some mission she could not talk about much, so one never knew when she might be around. Luckily, Giang had finished her classes for the day and had the rest of the day free. Taking the off ramp, the Asian young woman zoomed down the side streets toward the restaurant. It was not long before she pulled up along the street a short way from the door. Taking her helmet with her, Giang made her way to the restaurant inside. Stopping as she stepped inside, she took a moment to scan the room, eventually spotting Creys. "I see the person waiting for me." She said to the hostess and then made her way over. "Creys, it is so wonderful to see you." She said with a smile as she came up to her friend.
  6. Okay, the first shot misses, the second hits. The enemy fighter only gets a 12, so it is going down.
  7. "I see them Traveller." Paradigm called out in response as her teammate noted the civilians that appeared to be down among the Spectrum Knights on the ground. There also appeared to be some sort of struggle going on among some of the Spectrum Knights, but for the moment the Praetorian was focused on the group of Spectrum Knights they had chased here. But then the yellow tower explode, sending debris flying that killed the criminal the Spectrum Knights had broken out of the Lor Hall of Justice. Paradigm frowned at the turn of events. "See if you can determine what is causing those lightning blasts Cavalier." She stated as she flew forward in a flash to one of the Spectrum Knights. The Naram's fist shot out in a blinding flash, slamming into the Spectrum Knight's chest with tremendous force. The blow knocked out the armored alien, and sent him flying backward to land on the roof of a nearby building. "Those blasts from the sky are not our doing. Surrender now and we will do what we can to stop them, before any more harm is caused." The Praetorian stated to the other nearby Spectrum Knights.
  8. Paradigm will fly over to one of the flying Spectrum Knights and Take 10 to punch them (that is a 20 to hit with taking 10 and a DC 31 toughness save)
  9. OOC for this thread.
  10. On the surface of Galor III Yollon City Northern Hemisphere Kulahn Chaka was busy running routine diagnostics on her mech-suit, thankful to be out of the intense afternoon heat of Galor III. Even though she was in the supposedly "cooler" northern hemisphere of the planet, the heat during the day was much greater than she was typically accustomed to. Kulahn and her mech were in a back corner of what had once been a warehouse facility along the outskirts of Yollon City. There were dozens of other mercenaries, from dozens of species, gathered in groups throughout the warehouse. Some were resting, others playing various games of chance, while others were busy cleaning weapons or hovervehicles. Like Kulahn, they had all been hired by the natives due to the potential threat of a new warlord that had taken over a number of systems in a nearby parsec in the wake of the Incursion. Also like Kulahn, nearly all the other mercenaries had seen action during the Incursion. However, their reasons for turning to the mercenary life following the end of the war varied. So far the job had turned out to be little more than a somewhat relaxed version of garrison duty. But that was about to change. Just as she finished checking the suit's weapon systems, Kulahn noted something of a disruption going on toward the center of the building. Then, one of the mercenary officers appeared up on a platform so that he could be seen, or at least heard by everyone. "Planetary defenses have detected a hostile cruiser in orbit. It has engaged several of the orbital defense satellites. They have also picked up several smaller ships which have entered the atmosphere and appear to be headed this way. Everyone gear up and get ready to deploy to defensive positions!"
  11. Galor System Outer length of the Perseus Arm November 2, 2015 (Terran Calender) The Praetorian spacecraft Kavaca dropped out of lightspeed near the third planet in the Galor system. A large planet slightly bigger than Terra, Galor III sat along a much closer orbit around its bright yellow sun. As a result, the planet was brown and tan in color, covered in desert and rocky mountains. But despite that hostile environment, the sentient reptilian species that was native to Galor III had evolved to develop at least minimal space travel, eventually making contact with scouts from the Lor Republic and established trade relations. The system had managed to avoid the onslaught of the Communion during the Incursion, but only just barely, as Communion forces had been moving toward the system when they had finally been stopped. But while that conflict had been avoided, Galor now found itself faced with a new threat, one that had cast a shadow over several neighboring systems as well. During the Incursion long standing differences had been set aside as the various powers of the galaxy worked together against the common thread of the Communion. During that struggle, numerous pirate groups had voluntarily joined with the Coalition, providing additional space power to the fleets. Among the pirate leaders to join the battle against the Communion was a renegade Broan prince called Dovox, who stylized himself as "Sovereign." Bringing together a number of pirate groups under his command during the Incursion, Sovereign had taken advantage of the chaos that existed when the Communion was defeated, using his forces to take control of a parsec along the outer edge of the Stellar Khanate and establishing himself as the rule of his own empire. After spending some time consolidating his position, Sovereign had begun to show signs of his intention to seek to expand his new domain, sending out forces to nearby systems to scout out potential targets for conquest. The Praetorians aboard the Kavaca had been sent to the sector to investigate and see what could be done to dissuade the would-be-conqueror. On the Kavaca's bridge, Seresk, a larger reptilian Praetorian, was at the sensors station and looked up from the displays before him. "Sri Steward, sensors are detecting a freighter sized vessel in orbit around Galor III. Its configuration is similar to vessels know to be employed by the pirate groups controlled by Dovox. It appears to be exchanging fire with several orbital defense satellites."
  12. Okay, in the interest of keeping us moving forward, Paradigm has assigned the team to investigate the Sar-Lan: Cavalier, Moon-Moth, Mater Vyrdna and Magnetar (an NPC we will say has magnetic control powers). So, if I can get a couple posts, I will move that group forward toward the prison ship and the rest of us down to the planet (arriving at the locations and roughly the same time).
  13. Under Ruby's guidance, the Voidrunner rocketed down the canyon, weaving two and fro as it tried to make itself a more difficult target. The decision to try to avoid incoming fire proved prophetic, as the other warning systems went off, alerting the bounty hunter that two of the enemy fighters had followed them down into canyon. The two small spacefighters proved difficult to shake, as they easily followed Ruby's erratic flight path, avoiding the rock outcroppings and canyon walls as the kept after the Voidrunner. Bright beams of energy streaked after the freighter, one series of blasts hitting a canyon wall and sending chunks of rock and other debris flying. However, the other fighter proved more accurate, hitting the Voidrunner with its fire, but this time the vessel's hull proved able to withstand the attack. The hit did have another result, as Ruby veered a bit too hard to the right to try to avoid more fire, and ended up clipping a rock outcropping. The impact caused the ship only minor damage, but did cause it to buck considerably before Ruby righted it once again. Roulette had been on his way back toward the fire when the ship rocked with the impact on the rocks, sending him sprawling onto the deck. While he was not hurt by the spill, it did slow him down...
  14. Okay, a couple of piloting rolls for two of the fighters that follow you down into the canyon: 21 and 27. They are able to keep up with the ship and open fire 8 and 22, so a miss and a hit. To keep us moving, I will make the toughness save: 28, the ship is fine! Round Three 17 Ruby Voxx 8 Enemy fighters.
  15. OOC for this thread. Each of you has found your way to this warehouse on your own, in whatever way you want to describe.
  16. Greenbank Freedom City, New Jersey Tuesday November 3, 2015, 10:23 PM local time Halloween had come and gone, but Freedom City was still clinging to warm weather, with the temperature having reached the mid-60's during the sunny day. And though the sun had set hours ago, the temperature had so far only dropped about ten degrees. Although night had fallen, there was still plenty of activity in Greenbank, as many of the warehouses continued to operate around the clock, and several of the establishments that had built up in the area to cater to workers getting off shift were open as well. But for every few warehouses or other business that were in operation, there was one that was out of business and sitting empty. Or at least mostly empty. Along the northern edge of Greenbank near the West End sat what appeared to be an empty warehouse. Taking up about a quarter of a block (with an enclosed shipping yard covering another quarter), the building was three stories tall and had once handled a variety of international exports. But now many of the windows were boarded up; the signs were dull and faded; and scattered about the shipping yard were weeds that were growing up through the concrete. But such empty buildings did not always stay that way, and currently there was word that a group of weapons smugglers were using the building's basement to store illegal arms shipments. It was these rumors that had brought three individual costumed crime fighters out into this part of Freedom City tonight....
  17. The autogun fire tore into one of the pursuing fighters, three hits connecting solidly with the fast vessel. While the damage was minimal, it was sufficient to cause the vehicles controls to seize for a moment as several systems overloaded and backups had to kick in. With the fighter flying so low and fast in the atmosphere, that brief moment it took the backups to compensate was more than enough to send the fighter banking wildly, where it clipped the tree tops of the forest below, which sent the vehicle spinning and then crashing down into the trees. But Ruby's triumph was short lived, as the remaining fighters opened fire once again. While she was able to dodge one series of shots, the other two managed to score solid hits, which rocked the Voidrunner and set off warning lights. Ruby felt the ship's controls suddenly get stiffer as it started to roll to one side. But the experience pilot quickly flipped some switches in front of her, firing maneuvering thrusters to compensate and pull them out of the roll. The Voiderunner skimmed over the tops of the trees below, before dropping down into a narrow canyon that was nearby. Warning lights were still flashing as Roulette saw fire indicators appear on a damage control screen he had been watching. The flight controls were still very stiff, and appeared to be worsening...
  18. You want us to roll for initiative Rav?
  19. Paradigm pulled back slightly as the sudden bolt of lightning streaked down from the sky and blasted apart a blue crystal tower in the city below them. She did not know what had caused the lightning bolt, but for the moment focused on the enemy in front of them. There appeared to be some gathering in one of the buildings below, and it was uncertain how many of these Spectrum Knights might be present there. "Do not give them time to get organized against us." She called out to the others as she focused on the group of Spectrum Knights that they had chased through the portal. The Naram flew forward slightly, her long black cape billowing behind her as she moved. Then she swung her hands together in front of her, a loud WHAM echoing over the city as a powerful shockwave reverberated away from her, catching all the feeling Spectrum Knights in its wake. Several were able to twist partially away, their glowing armor taking the bit of the shockwave that connected. Two others were squarely hit, but managed to withstand the force of the shockwave. One of the Spectrum Knights was not so fortunate, as the shockwave sent him spinning through the air slightly to fall crashing into one of the other towers that were still standing.
  20. Okay AA, Paradigm will use her Shockwave feat on the group of Spectrum Knights we chased here. That is a +13 Damage cone area effect (so DC 23 Reflex save to reduce the effect and a DC 28/21 toughness save depending on how they do on the Reflex save).
  21. One note Dark, to shoot more than one enemy with an autofire attack, you need to use a full round action (which means you could also not pilot/move the ship), so you just autofired on one. Okay, one of the enemy fighters goes down, but the others open fire: 14, 8 and 23, so that is two hits and a miss. Two DC 25 toughness saves are needed for the Voidrunner. Then, Round TWO 17 Ruby Voxx 8 Enemy fighters.
  22. Paradigm does as well as she can with a 26 for initiative.
  23. Paradigm watched as the fleeing raiding party that had attacked the Hall of Justice disappeared through a gateway. She and several of the Praetorians had been on the new Lor homeworld when the attack had begun, and they had responded along with Cavalier and two of the more recent Star Knight recruits. The Naram had heard of similar raids carried out by a group that referred to themselves as the "Spectrum Knights." Thus far they had been able to strike and be gone before any of the Praetorians could arrive at the scene of one of the raids, given the seemingly random targets and locations they struck throughout the sector. But now, now they had an opportunity to pursue a group of them. While there was certainly risk in following right after the raiding party, it presented an opportunity that was worth the risk. "Agreed Knight Steward." Paradigm stated confidently. "We cannot let them slip away again." She continued, glancing at her fellow Praetorians before she started forward through the air, accelerating as she went. On the far distant planet on the other side of the gateway, a loud sonic boom echoed through the air as Paradigm emerged from the gateway at supersonic speed, quickly decelerating once she was through as she quickly took in the scene below her.
  24. Well, they are chasing you, so it is more just continue moving away from them and shooting behind you. That easily hits, and gets +3 to the damage. The fighter gets a 23 for its toughness save, which damages it, and is enough to cause the controls to seize, which at this altitude, sends it crashing into the forest below rather quickly. Go ahead and post!
  25. If the ships pursuing them heard and understood Ruby's broadcast warning, they paid it little heed, as another volley of blaster fire lanced through the air at the Voidrunner. Ruby managed to bank to one side and avoid most of the incoming fire, narrowly clipping over the tree tops as she did so, but a few shots glanced across the ship's hull, causing it to buck and rock some. Roulette just managed to grab a hold of fixed handhold and avoid being sent flying by Ruby'' maneuver. A nearby access panel was flung open as sparks and smoke could be seen from within, as something was not reacting well to the minor hits the ship had taken so far.
