  1. Torpedo Lass' attempt to try to trick the protestor into reveling some information failed to make much of an impression on the woman. The protestor was now ignoring the superheroine, focusing instead on calling out support for the protest to those down below in kayaks that had not yet moved out of the way of the massive ice breaker. Moving down further on the rope, Torpedo Lass saw that the cable between the protestors was hooked to the bottom of the harness, where she could not easily reach it hanging from the rope suspended from the bridge, and appeared to be covered with masking tape, making it all the more difficult to get to the knot or carbineer securing it. Although the patriotic heroine's attention was a bit focused on the protestor and how the lines to the other protestors were secured, she was also very good at keeping an eye on her surroundings. So she noticed that the attention of some of the police on the boats and the protestors on the kayaks had turned out toward the bay to the east. Glancing back that way, Torpedo Lass saw a large bolder flying through the air over the river, at an elevation below the bridge. Standing on the bolder was a woman wearing a red, sleeveless costume with a golden stripe down the center of the front and across the collarbones and waits, with similar gold strips on the legs. The woman and the bolder were just about to pass under the bridge below Torpedo Lass and the protestor...
  2. Down at the bottom of the rope was a woman in her mid to late thirties. She was setting in some sort of harness to which the rope was attached. As Torpedo Lass drew near and shouted down, the woman looked up, but did not appear overly surprised to see the patriotic heroine hanging up above her. "We have no intention of fighting you or anyone." The woman called back up. "We are here to stop that ship from leaving port and continuing to pollute and destroy a pristine natural habitat. If you and the police want to forcefully remove us, you are more than welcome, and end up looking like fascists on national TV in the process." With that, the woman focused back on the scene below them in the river. Torpedo Lass was now close enough to see that the cables and banners stretching between this woman's harness and the protestors on either side were affixed to either side of the harness and were separate from each other.
  3. So, couple small errors. For your main Magic Array, there are only 5 alt powers, not 7. (and you have correctly calculated the costs for 5). For the Magic Array in the staff, There is only one alt power, not two. Also, I believe it should be Magic 10.5 (for 21 active points), for a total cost of 22 pp.
  4. I have two possible mentors: Tsunami: A rather recent graduate from Claremont, she is a water controller and a skilled martial artist. She was groomed her entire life to control her powers, and could be a good mentor for someone that has trouble controlling their powers, particular those that involve area effects. She also can be a good mentor for those that might have questionable pasts, as her entire family are criminals/supercriminals (involved in Dr. Sin's criminal network on her father's side and Typhoon is her maternal grandfather). Velocity: A member of the Freedom League (one of the first PC's here to join the Freedom League while still a teenager), Velocity turned down an invitation to attend Claremont while she was a teenager hero, but certainly knows about the school from her teammates that are alumni. She has helped mentor younger heroes before, the most recent being a Claremont student following the Day of Wrath. She also now has a child that attends the Nicholson School, so has a bit more interest in Claremont than she has in the past.
  5. Giang had been prepared to dodge the not unexpected attack from Captain Kraken, when Thaelia leapt between the two, easily taking the blast that was meant for the Asian teen. But what was more alarming to her, was the hole that was blasted in the ceiling by the alien pirate's crew. But then Eliza took action to block that opening, at least buying them some time before the pirates could continue any attack against them. With the threat of the pirates at least reduced for the moment, Giang turned her attention back to the Dakuwanga. As her already serious expression hardened slightly, the Asian teen brought her hands up once again, to send yet another powerful blast of twisting coils of water at the creature. Once again the blast struck the Dakuwanga solidly in the torso. This time, however, the blast struck with such force that the creature was knocked off its feet and sent backward into the prison walls. While the wall withstood the impact, several cracks did form along its surface, as the Dakuwanga collapsed in a dazed heap on the floor.
  6. The police officers on the boat that Torpedo Lass had boarded increased the volume of the PA system, so the superheroine's voice would cut through the various noise of the scene around them. As Torpedo Lass began to talk, several of the protestors fell quiet to listen to what she had to say, but a few continued to shout out chants, but they were barely audible over the her speech. Once Torpedo Lass had finished, some of the protestors gathered in kayaks appeared to be swayed by her appeals, as they started to paddle toward the outer edges of the river. But some of the kayakers remained defiantly in place, as did all those who had suspended themselves from the bridge. Apparently they were not satisfied with simply having their message heard, but fully intended to prevent the Horizon from departing. Torpedo Lass easily managed to leap up onto the nearest edge of the Paramas Bridge, finding a major traffic jam awaiting her due to slow down caused by lanes being blocked by police vehicles and police who were trying to get the suspended protestors back up onto the bridge. The dozen or so hanging protestors were suspended by cables that had been attached to the railings and supports of the bridge. But the police had no easy way to get them all up, particularly as they were roped together once they had lowered themselves down.
  7. Tsunami could not help but smile slightly as they came across the unconscious sharkmen. "Well, I would appear Myrmidon has been busy." She stated as she looked over the sharkmen. The Asian young woman looked back up toward the other doors visible from where they currently were standing. "But it appears that he will be preoccupied with other things for the moment, so it is left to us to find and rescue the hostages." "We should start by clearing the nearby rooms before moving through the rest of this deck, starting with the closed stateroom door."
  8. Synapse had mentally agreed with Angus that they should double check everything they learned with VERA, just in case there was someone else at UNISION that was not completely on the up-and-up. The young Englishwoman had vivid memories of the betrayals the pair had been through after becoming part of the new Vanguard. But then, with her memory, Synapse had rather vivid memories of just about everything. She did pay close attention to the briefing from Ellis and Salazar, committing all the information to memory so she could later relay it back to VERA. And of course she kept a mental link open between the four Vanguard members, so they could privately discuss things if they chose. They have experience working together. She mentally replied to Foreshadow's question and observations. That could make things tough if we cannot keep them off balance. But with the right planning, I believe we can take them.
  9. Hmm, choice of targets here…. Tsunami will continue to target the Dakuwanga for the moment, getting a 30. Which, with a natural 19, is good enough for a critical thanks to improved crit. So, DC 31 toughness save!
  10. Unless you think Paradigm's PL might be an issue, I would be up for her being involved.
  11. Okay, two threads started. Anyone else in need of a thread?
  12. GM Agent Salazar gave a small smile at Angus' question about whether they were sure the information they had was legitimate. "Yes, there is the possibility that this is a trap," the Spanish agent replied in response to Foreshadow's comment, "but it seems unlikely." "While the group has done a good job of remaining under the radar, our information is from the sources within the group that is hiring them, sources that have proven dependable in the past." At this point Colonel Ellis spoke up once more. "I am sure you are interested in learning about the group you will be trying to capture." With that she pressed some keys on a consul next to her and screens lowered down along one of the walls of the conference room. One of the screens, an image appeared of Man in his mid-thirties, with short brown hair and also about six feet tall with a muscular build. He was dressed in a dark grey bodysuit had dark brown accents, with black boots, gloves and belt, with some sort of energy weapon holstered on the belt. But the most striking thing about the man was that the left side of his face was metallic, with a deep red metallic eye. "This is Ambrose Carellash, also known as Spartan. Formally an officer in the Greek Army, Spartan was injured during a UN peacekeeping operation in Africa, losing his left arm and leg in an explosion and suffering extensive damage. He has been cybernetically enhanced, providing him enhanced strength, durability and reflexes. He is a skilled tactician and combatant, and is the leader of the group." Agent Salazar stated. On the next screen appeared an image of an attractive woman in her early twenties, with a lithe build and long platinum blonde hair. Her skin tight dark grey bodysuit with silver highlights with black gloves and black boots that came up to her mid thighs. "Monique Fournier, codename Flechette. French native who grew up as an acrobat with a traveling circus, before coming to UNISON's attention. She has the ability to generate solid energy darts with which she is extremely accurate." The next image to appear was a man in his mid-twenties, over six feet tall and muscular. Dressed in dark grey bodysuit with green accents and black boots that went up to just below the knees. "Alasdair McKee, codename Clansman. He is originally from Scotland, possession superhuman strength and durability." The last screen showed a man in his late-twenties, with a lean, wiry build. He had a thin mustache and wide nose. His dark grey bodysuit had purple accents. "Johann Bloch, codename Powerplay. Austrian native, he has telekinetic powers and also can shut down superpowers with a touch. When the group betrayed us in Varna, he was able to shut off Velocity’s powers for a couple of hours."
  13. Okay Osprey, give me a Diplomacy roll. I will give you a +4 circumstance bonus for the speech.
  14. "That does sound like a reasonable course of action." Seresk responded with a small nod. "Of course we must first determine where this 'Bricktown' is located." The large reptilian alien then added, glancing about for a moment before moving forward towards the nearest crowd of Grue. As Corona and her new teammate neared the crowded intersection, she was better able to make out the various Grue making their way along the street. A good number retained the red skinned, androgynous humanoid form with pointed ears and a smooth expanse where most humanoid species would have some configuration of mouth and nose. But Corona could see that there were some Grue, while keeping the red skin and pointed ears, had adopted a male or female form. "Excuse me fellow sentients," Seresk stated in GalStandard once he was near to some of the passing Grue, "my companion and I are looking for Bricktown, would any of you happen to know where it is located?" Several of the passing Grue only briefly turned their heads to consider Seresk's towering figure, giving Corona a quick glance as well before continuing on their way. Others stopped to regard the large Praetorian and Lor officer, seemingly hesitant about whether they should respond or not. Finally one Grue stepped forward and looked up at Seresk. "It is four levels down, just follow this main passage and it will lead downward." The Grue pointed off in one direction, down a main street that went through the center of the nearby buildings, curving slightly to the left as it went and sloping downward.
  15. "We could sure use any help you might be able to provide." One of the police officers responded as Torpedo Lass swam over and climbed aboard the police boat. "Unless we can get them cleared out, the ship is going to have to stay where it is. Which of course is what the protestors want." Another officer extended his hand toward the superheroine, offering her a handset attached to a cord extending out of the console of the boat. "Here, this is for the PA system. Should be good enough to be heard by everyone out there. Hopefully they will be more willing to listen to you."

Ref point to Paradigm as well)
  17. GM It turned out neither Cavalier or Corona had much information on this sector of the Republic, unable to provide any more than was contained in the information the Lor had provided to the team. Paradigm decided they would continue on their route toward Dreeda III to check on the Lor coolly world, then determine how best to proceed depending on what they found. With the decision made, the Praetorians fell into a somewhat familiar routine during the remainder of the trip. There were systems to check and monitor aboard the Devotion, but for the most part there was a fair bit of downtime during which to discuss tactics and otherwise prepare for when they found the escaped criminals. Of course, Corona and Cavalier were not accustomed to the routine aboard the Praetorian ship, but both had spent their share of time aboard large spacecraft, so they had little trouble adapting to the situation. The time passed quickly, and soon several of those aboard who did not have some task requiring their attention were gathered on the Devotion's bridge as the ship neared the Dreed system. Paradigm was seated in the command chair as Huhunu was at the helm. "Dropping back to real space." The marine replied as he disengaged the ship's FTL drive. "Begin running sensor sweeps." Paradigm stated as she watched the stars on the view screen return to normal. "I want to know if there is anything out there."
  18. GM "Well, the red tape is not really a problem." Colonel Ellis replied to Ulysses with a small smile. "But the later certainly is on the mark. Most of our superpower operatives would likely be too easily spotted." She paused a moment, then added, "in any event, we are not entirely certain that they still do not have a contact here that is feeding them information." Agent Salazar spoke up next. "As for what these rogue agents have done, three years ago I was overseeing them during an operation in Varna, Bulgaria with the assistance of Velocity from the Freedom League. Our mission was to intercept a Georgian based Organizatsiya that had obtained weapons grade plutonium and were selling it to a Middle Eastern government. We managed to deal with the Organizatsiya members present and fend off the superpowered mercenaries that were to pick up the plutonium for the buyer, but then the rouge agents betrayed Velocity and I, subduing us and leaving us at the docks." "Luckily we were able to escape the Organizatsiya reinforcements and went underground for a few days, tracking the rouge agents to Marmaris, Turkey, where they were attempting to auction off the plutonium. With the assistance of some Mossad agents and an Israeli superhero, Velocity and I were able to recover the plutonium, but the rogue agents escaped." "Since then, they have been hiring themselves out as superpowered mercenaries and engaging in other criminal activities throughout Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. But they have generally been able to keep from staying in one place too long and we have never been able to get any clear information about their possible movements to be able to be waiting for them. Until now."
  19. The sudden appearance of Torpedo Lass' brightly colored form streaking through the air and splashing down into the water caused a brief distraction among the police, protestors and various onlookers, as no one was quite sure who, or what, it was that had landed in the water. When the World War II heroine appeared back up at the surface, those nearest her seemed relieved by her reappearance. The protestors wasted little time returning to their chanting slogans against damage to the environment and corporate greed. The police out on the water turned back to trying to steer the protestors in kayaks off to the sides of the river to open up a channel for the Horizon to pass through. So far, they were not having the most luck, with only a few of the protestors allowing themselves to be guided off out of the way. Of course, the larger problem was going to be getting down the people who had suspended themselves off the bridge…
  20. Okay Rav, thread for Corona is here.
  21. Kestevan 79 Coalition Victory Station October 1, 2015 (Terran Calendar) Less than a year ago, most major space faring races gave little thought to Kestevan 79, a system generally avoided due to its nebula, neutron star and magentar companion causing problems with navigation systems. But that had all changed with the conclusion of the Communion Incursion and the defeat of the Communion mothership in the system by Coalition forces. Now, Kestevan 79 was an important location within the neutral zone between the major space powers, with the derelict Communion mothership being renamed Coalition Victory Station and millions of sentients from hundreds of species from across the galaxy living aboard the repurposed vessel. As a true neutral ground, the station provided an opportunity for the various space powers that had formed the Coalition against the Communion to try to form a lasting peace between them as they sought to rebuild in the aftermath of the Incursion. Large sections of the station had been rebuilt by the various Coalition members to provide housing, business, spaceports and other facilities for those relocated there. But even with these city sized settlements in place, vast sections of the former Communion vessel stood empty and unexplored, often without life support systems in place. It was in one of the larger inhabited sectors of the station that the Praetorians had chosen to establish their new headquarters as they began to carry out their new role as galactic protectors. The outsider status of the ancient protectors of a long gone empire provided the Praetorians something of a unique position between the governments that had formed the Coalition, even as the group formed close bonds with the Lor Republic and Star Knights. Over the past few months, Aya K'zan had become familiar with parts of the station, having joined the Praetorians as the official Lor representative and liaison for the organization. Of course, given the current state of the galaxy, she and the other Praetorians were often away on some mission or another. Her current assignment had her down in a lower level of the section that held the Praetorian's headquarters, to a sector inhabited primarily by independent Grue. During the chaos of the Incursion, large numbers of Grue drones had been separate from the Unity hivemind of the Metamind, gaining independent sentience and leaving the Unity join Coalition forces fighting the Communion. Given the callous disregard the Metamind had shown for drones and even Unity worlds during the Incursion, the vast majority of the independent Grue had chosen not to be reincorporated into the hivemind. But the shift from being independent of the Unity was not easy for many, and given the distrust many races felt for Grue, the majority of independent Grue had become roaming vagabonds, unable to find any place to make a new home and life. One contingent of the independent Grue, referring to themselves as the Grue Individuality, had established a delegation on CoVic Station, and a number of other independent Grue eventually followed. While the communities of independent Grue were normally left to themselves, a recent string of murders in this sector had prompted the Grue Individuality to request the assistance of the Praetorians in investigating the matter. Stretched out before Aya was a larger cavernous space that descended downward hundreds of feet deeper into the station. A maze of structures and passages snaked along the sides of the space down as far as the Lor officer could see through the misty haze filled the humid air. Hundreds of red skinned humanoid figures could be seen moving about, mixed with the forms of other species, though whether the later were truly members of those species or independent Grue that had taken that form was impossible to tell for certain. "How do you suggest we proceed Officer K'zan?" Asked the hulking figure that stood beside the Lor in accented GalStandard. Seresk, an enormous reptilian humanoid over eight feet tall, was one of the original Praetorians that had been sent to assist Aya in the investigation.
  22. OOC for this thread.
  23. Okay Osprey, a thread for Torpedo Lass is here. Rav, I am going to try to get a thread up for Corona later today.
  24. The South River, near the Pramas Bridge Thursday September 17, 2015 12:14 PM local time It was a warm September day for Freedom City, the weather already in the mid 80's and rather muggy. Some might have believed that the larger than normal mid-day crowds along the city's waterfront were because of the weather, but that was likely only one reason. The other was the scene playing out on the South River just west of the Pramas Bridge. Out in the river was a massive, 380 foot long multipurpose icebreaker and platform supply vessel, the Horizon, which had been undergoing repairs at one of Freedom City's dry ocks further up the river. Now it was underway to return to the Arctic and resume operations in support of a major oil company's exploratory ocean drilling in the region. But currently it was holding its position in the middle of the river between the Mona-Glen and Pramas bridges, unable to continue forward. This was due to close to a hundred brightly colored kayaks and canoes that were in the water underneath the Pramas Bridge, effectively blocking the vessel's path towards the bay. The small boats were filled with protestors from various environmental groups protesting the drilling in the Arctic, many of them holding signs denouncing the damage to the region. In addition, about a dozen other protestors had suspended themselves from the Pramas Bridge, with ropes and banners between them, making it all but impossible for the Horizon to proceed forward without hitting or entangling some of them with its tall central tower. Several police boats were out on the water, trying to get protestors to move, while a number of other police officers were up on the bridge, attempting to get the protestors suspended from there back up and out of the way. The traffic jam this created on State Route 4, which crossed the Pramas, only made the scene all the more chaotic.
