pc Apex (PL 7) - Shojikitsune (Bronze)
Thevshi replied to shojikitsune's topic in Archived Characters
So, first question Shoji, if Apex's powers are based on drones and not innate to her, why are they not devices (even if hard to lose devices)? -
GM More of the winged antibodies came flying up at the heroes still in the air, screeching their high pitched electrical sound as they did. Pairs came at each of the heroes, their long sharp claws flashing in the dim light. Both of the antibodies that attacked Hronos managed to connect with the Mechanodynamis, slashing at his metal form. Both Argonaut and Cavalier managed to avoid one of the attacks aimed at them, but neither had their luck continue against the second, both receiving solid hits to their armor. Then, over the communicators of each of the gathered heroes came Daedalus' voice. "This is Daedalus to all Earth heroes, if you have found a section that is a large open space with several massive columns, you need to undermine the supports of as many of those columns as you can. Collapsing them inward will start the chain reaction we are wanting to achive."

Okay, two antibodies each for Hronos, Argonaut and Cav: 20, 24, 23, 11, 16 and 22. So, two hits on Hronos and one for both Argonaut and Cav. DC 23 toughness saves.

Hmm, appears I forgot to post a GM post for the antibodies attacking. Oh well, no worries. Frost is up AA if you are ready to do a post with him dealing with the energy spikes! (and by extension taking out the antibodies on the hull of the Lighthouse that are trying to rewire things through the surge).

Okay, I will say you catch 20 in the area: only 5 of them make their saves.

Sure, you can stunt that, but with no HPs left, you will have to take the fatigue.

GM Up in the sky: The reptilian woman referred to as Gremlin gave a small grin at Young Britannia's comments, even as she flew over toward the needle ship that had just fired on her. Gremlin seemed to put a bit more effort into trying to rip the fighter apart, effort which appeared to make a difference, as her sharp claws tore through the needle fighter's hull and sent it spiraling a short distance away before it exploded. "Well, I believe we are starting to tip the scales, but no promises on making that date." Gremlin replied. Down on the ground: Down on the ground, Black Diamond began swinging her fists at the three antibodies attacking her, smashing one which was sent flying backward into a wall more than a hundred feet away. She wasted little time quickly demolishing the other two and was soon clear of any enemies, at least for the moment. The three she had just dealt with were quickly replaced as four others surged forward, their hands and claws crackling with green energy. The antibodies slashed and clawed at the villainess, but only one managed to land a hit, sending the green energy arching through her body. But Black Diamond managed to take the hit with no ill effects. Two other antibodies rushed toward the young man in the brown leather jacket, both slashing at him. But only one managed to hit the young man, and even then, he seemed to twist away just at the last moment, avoiding any serious injury. The two antibodies attacking Professor Chiron continued to attack the Greek hero, one missing with its attack, but the other managing to hit Chiron once more. The hit appeared to hurt the cybernetic hero, causing him to stagger backward dazed once more. Ulysses finds himself facing another two antibodies, their hands crackling with the green energy that had caused him so much trouble before. One of the pair managed to land a hit and Ulysses felt the energy arch through his shoulder that was hit. Back on the opposite side of the building, Darkbolt sent another ball of electricity flying towards three of the downed needle ships, which erupted into another large are electrical blast. Ten of the antibodies emerging from the fighters stiffened as the electricity burned through them and then collapsed to the ground in smoking heaps. But two of the antibodies managed to resist the attack, rushing forward to attack the Russian giant, their hands crackling with green energy. The first antibody managed to hit the giant, the green energy arching along his leg, but the large Russian gritted his teeth and managed to resist the attack. The second antibody failed to connect with the large target. The antibody that had resisted Coiled Lightning's attack charged the whip wielding hero, but Coiled managed to dodge the attack. The other antibody near Coiled moved past him, rushing over to Darkbolt. The antibody managed to hit the villain, but the electrical forcefield which surrounded him appeared to once again ward off the attack easily.

Gremlin will attack a needle fighter (Power attack: -3/+3 and Taking 10), and the needle fighter fails its toughness save. Black Diamond attacks the three antibodies on her Taking 10 and using Takedown Attack, if she can: all three miss their saves. Darkbolt attacks another group of Antibodies with an area electrical blast (Power attack -2/+2, taking 10), catching 12 in the blast: 2 make their saves with natural 20's, but are still bruised. With only four antibodies on the side Coiled is on, one attacks him (missing[/url), one attacks Darkbolt (hiting) and two attack Stonewall (a hit and a miss). Darkbolt gets a 23 so just makes his toughness save. Stonewall gets a 30 on his Fort save and is fine. The two antibodies on Professor Chiron attack him again: 25 and 18 one hit and a miss. Chiron gets a 15, so another bruise and dazed once more. Two antibodies go after Target: 20 and 27 so a miss and a hit. Target makes his toughness save with a 26 Four antibodies attack Black Diamond: 14, 24, 16, 12 so only one hit. Black Diamond had a DC 23 fort save to make, which she just makes. Two antibodies go after Ulysses: 28 and 14, one hit and a miss. DC 23 Fort save for Ulysses. If you make the fort save (or do not miss by more than 5, Ulysses is up Ex!

Okay, sorry for the delay. It is possible the antibodies could a Natural 20 on their toughness saves and survive, but I will not bother. So, Tiamat is able to take down all the antibodies that attacked her, and Fleur and Gaian. So, go ahead and post!

Hey Ironette, Thunderbolt looks interesting, here are a few comments for you. First, there are some general formatting issues, such as needing to add some spaces in places, that need to be tidied up. Over all you mechanics look good, although I would say she is a bit on the low side in terms of exotic saves. Also, by my count, she is at 106 pp, so one point will need to be shaved somewhere. Regarding your fluff, there are a couple of concerns I have. First, the general public is not aware that Claremont is a school for superpowered individuals (or even those with other extreme talents that could lead them to superheroics). So it would likely work better if there was some chain of events that led to Headmaster Summers offering her a place at the school. Second, why is the Marine Corps funding her pet project? The Marines have, by far, the smallest budget of the military (as they fall under the Department of the Navy), so I would imagine that money going to the project of a teenage daughter of a high ranking general might raise some eyebrows with the Ways and Means Committee. At the very least, the military would likely expect that the developments in her research go to more wide production for military use.

Okay, so some antibodies charge forward to attack. 2 manage to reach Fleur, getting a 17 and 21, so one hit. That is a DC 20 Fort save for Fleur. 2 go after Gaian, both missing with 11 and 1515, 27 and 13 so one hit, DC 25 toughness save for her. 3 go after Tiamat, If Tiamat makes her save (or does well enough), then she is up!

GM Up in the sky, the blonde haired woman in the white dress managed to right herself, just as she was hit by another blast of green energy from one of the needle fighters. While Avatar gasped in pain, this time she managed to avoid being dazed, or worse, and turned toward the spacecraft that had attacked her. Flying over with a few powerful beats of her white feathered wings, the young woman flew underneath the needle fighter, delivering a hit with her energy sword. However, the Communion craft managed to roll to one side at the last minute, so the blow was only minor. Over near Radion, Iceflame also cried out in pain as she was hit by the attack from a Communion fighter. But the glowing redhead turned with scowl and promptly blasted the needle fighter that had attacked her out of the sky.

Yes, unfortunately you cannot see what is happening on that side. So, toughness saves: first two antibodies fail, but the third makes it, so the fourth does not even get attacked.

Okay, going to handle Avatar and Iceflame together here. Both Take 10 on their attacks to hit a needle fighter, which get 27 and 24 on their saves, so one makes it, the other does not. Coiled Lightning is up!

Okay, down to minor nits: So, her age. At one point you say she was born in 1997, in her history you say 1992. Either is fine, just should be consistent. Skills: We really do not use the Profession skill here, probably better served using those skill points for some other skill. You array: with 36 active power points, it should be a rank 18 array, not a rank 17.5. -
I will say you have managed to cut them down to about half now. At the moment, there are no apparent reinforcements arriving, but, there are various entrances they could use to send in reinforcements. As for blocking Velocity, Gaian would know that she can vibrate her molecules fast enough to run through objects.

pc Tesseract (PL10) - Cabochard (Newbie)

Grats on submitting your first character. Here are some comments: Fluff: Background and everything looks fine. A few things I would point out or suggest. First, there is no registry of superpowered characters in this setting, nor would there be any mandatory classes for new heroes/superpowered individuals. However, her incident with her new powers is very likely to have attracted the attention of Duncan Summers, who would have extended her a invitation to Claremont (with a scholarship if needed). So, that might be something to change a bit if you want. Crunch: Unfortunately, there is a fair bit here that needs to be changed (and a few suggestions for you to consider). First, you have a couple of PL cap problems. You attack/damage is only that of a PL 8 (+8 attack and only a +8 damage attack). You should probably consider making some changes that puts you at the PL 10 cap in terms of attack/damage. Your PL cap problem is you are waaaay over the cap in terms of defense/toughness. You have +8 defense, which means you could have a +12 toughness (and would need to list the -2/+2 tradeoff at the top of the sheet). Your +16 toughness (which is not even the right calculation of your toughness) far exceeds that. You need to make some changes to bring your total toughness down to +12. On this subject, you cannot spend points to directly increase toughness (as you have done in your saves), so that is the first point you can drop right there. Regarding your equipment, we have effectively eliminated the 1EP Commlink. Per our house rules, you would need to build the Communication power for the commlink, which has some limitations on it (such as requiring a move action to use in combat). I would drop the armored jumpsuit, as it is part of what is throwing off your toughness save. If you want to keep it, then you are going to have to make cuts elsewhere. Also, we generally discourage heroes that carry firearms. Personally, I would make some adjustments to add an attack power that was only for one target, it will be far more effective than a light pistol. If you really want the pistol, then you should indicate it has stun ammo (non-lethal) in it (which we do not make you pay extra for). Powers: So, a number of issues here. Your Force Field/Concealment: You are probably going to need to reduce the Force Field some, depending on what you chose to change regarding your toughness. Given that, I would probably just drop the drawback on it. For the Concealment, why is she also concealed from mental senses? (Just a question). Also, reading Blending, if I were GMing a thread, I would say any teleporting would mess up the Concealment, because you are switching faster than the Concealment can adjust. Super Senses: Couple of things here. First, I am not sure it is priced right. Between the extendeds (more on that later) and Distance and Danger senses, that is 8 pp, leaving 5 pp unspent. What senses are you making radius? Hearing, touch and smell are by default radius, so no need to improve them. Improving normal vision would only be 1 pp (as you only have normal vision), so what are the other 4 pp for? Also, you need to tie your Danger Sense to one of your existing senses. Regarding the Extended 3 on vision and hearing....I am generally not a big fan of such long range increments. Why is she always able to see and hear out to almost 2 miles before taking any penalty? (have you considered the amount of information that is constantly pouring into her from that?) Given that you have ESP for all senses, that makes such a long extended on these senses almost superfluous. The Spatial Control Array: Few things here, you have named the array as spatial control, I would just buy the base power as Teleport and not call it Spatial Control. You should also list the range of your Teleports. I would note, that at the moment, you just have straight teleport, without extras of feats such as Accurate (to teleport to places you cannot see) or Change Velocity, Change Direction or other useful feats. You might want to consider some of those. Your area blast is fine, though as I suggested above, I would consider getting one that is just an individual target attack that puts you closer to PL and is a focused attack. (Also, one note I would bring up here, you do not have to use every single point in every alternate slot) Duplication 10: I am afraid we do not allow Heroic with more than one duplicate. In general, we tend to try to steer people away from this power altogether. What is it you are looking to do with this power? There may be other ways to achieve the intended goal. -
Okay, Kharag is up Rob!

"Then I am pleased to meet you Sakurako." Giang replied as the teenage girl introduced herself, giving a second small bow. The Asian young woman then turned her attention back to Sunshine as the AI excused herself to finish her performance. "We fully understand and will likely wish to remain her while you finish." She replied. Once the AI had moved back to the stage, Giang turned back to the other two heroes. "So, I expect like me you are concerned that where there has been one attack against Sunshine, there is the potential for more? Perhaps we can use our time at this event to learn if there is more to this than a random attack."

Okay, don't want to hold us up too much longer. We will say Hronos headed over to the Pegasus. Ecal, Geckoman is up!

GM Inside the UNISON building: Yama seemed to watch Foreshadow go to work against another group of Communion with keen interest. Whatever the dark clad figure thought of the vigilante's ability, he made no comment, instead moving quickly past and toward another group of antibodies that had rounded the corner further down the hallway. Yama's twin kukris flashed in the dim light as he quickly cut down the first of the antibodies. In short moments, he moved from one to the next, and soon all four were down. Up in the sky: Radion remained focused on the groups of approaching Communion fighters, his glowing red eyes once again sending a powerful beam of dark red energy in a wide arch above him. This blast managed to catch twelve of the diving needle fighters, tearing apart eleven of them, while one managed to resist the attack. Two needle fighters wasted little time trying to take out the threat that was cutting into their numbers. Both fired their bright green energy at the caped figure, only one of the two managing to score a hit. But as before, the green energy dissipated harmlessly on Radion's forcefield. Meanwhile, other needle fighters continued after the other superpowered air combatants. Both Iceflame and Avatar were hit by blasts from the needle fighters, both appearing to be hurt by the attacks, but still in the fight. Blasts of green energy aimed at Gremlin and Young Britannia both missed their marks. Slightly below the main aerial battle, Stella looked up at the chaos above her. Although she was badly hurt, the Itallian heroine was not quite ready to stop fighting, and she aimed a blast of bright light at the needle fighter attacking Avatar. The beam of light lanced up through the night sky, blasting the Communion ship out of the sky. Down on the group outside the UNISON building: The young man who had been knocked down by an antibody quickly performed a kip up, getting himself back on his feet as he regarded the antibody attacking him with a scowl. "Yeah, I'll live, which is more than I can say for this guy!" He stated in reply to Black Diamond, as he fired a blast of energy at the antibody, blasting it off its feet where it landed on the ground, a smoking hole through its torso. Back on the opposite side of the building, Stonewall took a couple of long strides over to where an antibody was attacking Darkbolt. The huge figure easily smashed the attacker into the ground with a larger fist, momentarily clearing the side of any Communion. That lasted only a few moments, before a trio of the needle fighters that had slipped past the aerial battle slammed into the ground a short distance away, their sides opening to release the antibodies waiting inside....
