  1. Aboard the Aphelion Mechanized and Memorial move along the main hallway with their temporary pirate allies, arriving at the Aphelion's engineering section to find four more of the Communion antibodies battling another boarding party of pirates and a number of the Aphelion's crew. The pirates and the crew appear to have been on the worse end of the exchange, with six pirates and four crew down, while the antibodies appeared unharmed. The insectoid pirate that had been leading the boarding party the two heroes had initially been fighting rushed forward, swinging his sword around to try to strike at one of the antibodies that had just felled one of the pirates. The Communion foot soldier was prepared for the attack however, easily dodging aside as it turned to face the pirate. Meanwhile, four of the other pirates not weighed down with their fallen comrades, or the ones already present in the engineering section all opened fire on one of the other Communion antibodies. Of the four, three managed to land hits on the antibody, but its metallic hide proved up to the task, as it shook off all three blasts with seemingly little effect. In space near the Aphelion The two remaining needle fighters arched around the pirate flagship, arching back towards the two active pirate interceptors as they crackled with green energy along the slender pikes on their forward hulls. Two blasts of green energy streaked through the void, with one of the interceptors banking at just the right moment to avoid the attack. The other however was too slow to completely avoid the blast, banking slightly but catching the blast across its left wing. However the pilot had maneuvered just enough that the blast was a glancing one, not delivering its full power in the impact, and the interceptor’s armor was able to withstand the hit. The pirate of the interceptor that had been hit then executed a sharp reverse, bringing his ship back around towards his attacker even as the needle ship tried to speed past to safety. Beams of energy shot forth from the interceptor, striking the Communion fighter squarely and vaporizing it into a brief cloud of silver debris. The other interceptor meanwhile fired at its attacker, failing to land a hit. Aboard the operative Communion ship The lightning storm that Galvanic summoned up arched forward toward the power source she had detected, striking the two Communion directly in front of her as it went vaporizing both instantly. As it arched down the hallway, it blasted through walls and doorways, destroying several more of the antibodies as it went. Toward the end of its path, it pierced through heavy walls, finding the main reactor. The powerful blast stripped away much of the heavy shielding on the reactor, and managed to cause some damage to it, but it was still operational, providing power to the ship. Aboard the damaged Communion ship Corona easily grasped one of the antibodies, which was unable to resist her great strength, and soon was flying towards its comrade as a makeshift missile. The two antibodies collided with tremendous force, one breaking apart and collapsing to the ground. The other however appeared little damaged by the attack, its cold eyes remaining focused on the Lor officer.
  2. Okay, been a little remiss here, back to things! The two Communion needle fighters attack the pirate interceptors, getting a 18 and 12, so a hit and a miss. The hit was on the undamaged one, which gets a 27, so it remains undamaged! Round Fifteen 24 Pirate Interceptor pilots (5) (3 disabled, 1 injured (3)) 24 Galvanic (bruised 5, 2 HP) 17 Elite Pirates (1 on flagship: bruised; Insectoid on Apheilon: bruised 2, dazed) 16 Average Pirates (1 on Aphelion staggered) 15 Mechanized (unharmed, dazed (rnd 13) 2 HP) 15 Waymaker (unharmed) 12 Corona (bruised, fatigued, 1 HP) 12 Sovereign (bruised) 10 Antibodies (4 aboard the Aphelion) 8 Needle Fighters (2 near pirates and merchant) 7 Memorial (bruised, 1 HP) 3 Tough Pirates The interceptors return fire, getting a 20 and 15, so a hit and a miss. The needle ship gets a 12, so is destroyed! The Elite pirate moves up to attack one of the Communion attacking the engineering section, missing with a 9. The average pirates open fire on one of the Communion, getting 25, 8, 19 and 25, so three hits and a miss. Three toughness save for the antibody: 28, 24, 20, so it survives all three hits. Not sure how you calculated the length of that blast Ecal, a line attack is 10' per rank long (base 120’ for the pushed attack), with three progression that is x10, so 1,200' long. But still more than enough to reach the electrical source you sensed! (it also is increased to 50' wide!) I will say Galv's attack catches six antibodies in the blast (with two outside it), only one of the six survives the blast. (there are probably quite a few further along the path, I’ll just say they are all vaporized as well to save having to make more rolls). The power source takes the 12 toughness drain, and then makes its saving throw: getting a 20, so it is damaged, picking up an injured status. Also Ecal, spending 1 HP only lowers your fatigue level by one, so Galv will be fatigued still at the end of the round. Corona hits one antibody with another, they both have toughness saves to make: 14 and 25, so one fails the other makes it.
  3. Dee followed after Erik as they made their way inside the living room of the house, looking around idly as she replied to his question. "There is still inherited titles for a portion of the aristocracy, which my family is part of. But that is fine, as I certainly do not want the title or position." She stated with a small smirk. "But that is not to say that Edward has not been required to prepare for his eventual inheritance of our father's seat on the House of Lords. Lord Farrington would never stand for his son to be ill prepared for such responsibility. And Edward is generally a dedicated sort, as evidenced by his earning a spot on the UK's Winter Olympic team."
  4. The cascade of energy tore at Paradgim, but the enhancement process she had been subjected to over two thousand years ago had made her far more resilient that she appeared. The young Naram resisted the attack, holding one arm up in front of her face for a moment before the attack passed, and she was still hovering in place in front of the large Communion ship, singed slightly, but otherwise unhurt. Focusing back on the location she had attacked earlier, Paradigm flew forward towards the breech she had made, making her way into the interior of the converted ship into what had once been the bridge. Inside she found the inner workings of the weapons the Communion had mounted there, but none of the antibodies that is used as its foot soldiers. Provided an opportunity, the Praetorian flew over to one of the weapons, grabbing ahold of the portion of it that extended into the former bridge, as she then ripped it completely free of the superstructure and pulling it free of its power couplings, rendering it completely useless.
  5. Paradigm gets a 19 for a Notice check.
  6. Moving over to the roof of the museum proved easy, and in no time, Coiled Lightning was making his way down the emergency stairwell and down to the upper floor of the museum, from which he could get down to the main level and look for the way down to the basement. As he made his way down the main stairwell, Coiled Lightning just heard a faint whistling and moved into the shadows of an exhibit, as Bittman came into view, moving down the dark hall with a flashlight in his hand. The older man moved passed where the hero was hiding, continuing on down the hallway back toward the employee section of the main floor.
  7. Synapse gave a small smile and a nod as Professor Chiron spoke up about what he had read on the Communion ground forces. The young Englishwoman then picked up as he finished. "The reports are that the Communion appears to take and convert whatever spacecraft it can capture, completely re-outfitting them for combat. So there are spacecraft of all shapes and sizes. One particular type of smaller spacecraft they use in great number are small, agile needle like craft, which they have shown no hesitancy to crash into larger ships or buildings on worlds they attack, either in attempts to destroy them, or to deploy the four or so ground forces that ride inside them."
  8. GM "Air support by those of you that can fly is certainly what we are hoping you can provide. We will be getting flight elements from NATO squadrons based across Europe as well." Colonel Ellis replied to Young Britannia's question. "For those of you that cannot, any anti-aircraft you might be able to provide would be welcome, but we have to expect that at some point they will get some ground forces into play. So we will be relying on you to supplement our own security forces." She then added. "I will obviously be part of the land based defense." Professor Chiron replied in accented English, the cybernetic centaur stomping one front metal hoof as he spoke. He then glanced over at Ulysses and Synapse at the steam powered hero's comments about not holding back against any Communion forces. "I have also reviewed the information provided by the Freedom League, and your assessment is most likely correct. It is uncertain whether there is any way to reverse what the Communion has done to those it has captured and altered. Thus far the Communion has employed hordes of altered beings, from all over the galaxy, coated with an unusual metal and dangerous melee attacks. Thus far their ground forces appear to not employ ranged attacks, but they are still are likely to represent a daunting opponent for conventional ground forces." As Foreshadow watched the two relatively unknown European heroes, he noted that Stella d'Argento appeared a bit nervous, but was doing her best to project a calm exterior.
  9. Okay, so thinking Paradigm is up (or at least want to get things started for her). She will fly into the hole she created. What she does inside depends on what she finds. If there are any antibodies, she will deal with them first, lining up to catch as many as she can with a shockwave (and do as much internal damage as she can with that). If the area just inside is otherwise empty of antibodies, she will set about ripping out the large guns they have put into place here.
  10. Not sure where you got that the Lighthouse was supposed to go dark? The comms will work for getting the message out.
  11. GM Suddenly Daedlaus' voice came over the frequency streaming in from Pluto. "Daedalus to Lighthouse. Dark Sun has arrived, and with his help, we have the Communion's anti-world weapon held up for the moment." "But a number of the Communion's line ships managed to slip by us. They are on their way and will likely be arriving within a minute or two. It is going to be up to you and the other heroes to deal with them. Daedlaus out." As Daedlaus' voice cut out, alarms stared to go off as the Lighthouse's long rain sensors picked up the approaching Communion ships…
  12. Tiff, Miss Grue is still up.
  13. Dee Farrington did her best to at least follow the briefing from Colonel Ellis, but the young Englishwoman was rather distracted. For a little over an hour now, something had been stirring in her mind, almost like a radio station that had a faint trace of static in the background. She had no idea what it was, but it seemed somehow tied to her mental powers, for none of her fellow Vanguard members were picking up anything. As she pushed down the background "noise" once more, Dee turned to regard the questions and comments from her fellow heroes once the Colonel had finished her briefing. "Oh, it is worse than that." She replied to Ulysses' comments about what the approaching alien forces goals might be. "I was able to speed read through much of the reports the Freedom League sent over the Ministry, this Communion apparently fields a weapon that can destroy a planet in a single shot. But most of the time, they instead invade a planet, and covert all indigenous life on the planet to some sort of cybernetic drones that are part of a single consciousness."
  14. Happy Birthday Tiff!!!
  15. There was one problem with Ana’s plan of trying to put her finger up to the forehead of the massive reptilian pirate, namely that even on her tiptoes, the best she could do was reach up to its massive barrel chest. So the threat lost a bit of its impact, even as the alien shook off the daze from her last attack. The pirate let out a deep growl, as it swung a massive backhand at the small engineer. But Ana was still quick on her feet, dodging the attack with ease. The pirate then turned and lumbered off after its retreating captain and crewmate, disappearing around the corner. Balus needed no encouragement to make a haste retreat, and soon the three were rushing through the streets, making their way back to the Xeno, Ana guiding their way back.
  16. Well, we are not quite out of combat yet. Ana went over and tried to threaten the tough pirate, who just recovered from being dazed. He will take a parting swing at her, missing with a 15, then take off after his captain and crewmate.
  17. Velocity was currently standing in one of the viewing lounges of the Lighthouse, looking out at the blue and green planet turning slowly down below. Her league communicator was in hand, patched in to the feed that they were receiving from the other League members out by Pluto. The speedster had been up and down quite a bit in the last few hours, zipping around to contact people and get them going where they needed to be, going to speak with some government officials, and all manner of other tasks that needed to be done. Now, she was waiting along with the others. She would far rather have been down on the surface, with one of the various groups they had placed around the world. But then, the League had enough teleport stations set up that if there was anywhere that really needed her help, the yellow clad speedster could be teleported down and be there within seconds. So Velocity was left waiting, something that was normally not an easy task for her. Not only was the situation about as possibly dire as it could be, with the Communion now in the solar system, but today was also Christmas. And Velocity could not but help think about her son and fiance, who she should be spending the holiday with. But Lawrence and Robert were not down on Earth, they were not even in this time, or any other timeline for that matter. When the other League members had first reported that the Communion seemed to be heading toward Earth, Robert had taken Lawrence to the Null Time, a place removed and isolated from the timelines, existing outside of time. Lawrence had been born in the Null Time and had spent his first six years of life there, so it was not an unfamiliar place. Right now, it seemed the best choice for them. As much as she wished she could be with them Velocity knew she had to remain here, for as long as she could, trying to stop the Communion along with her friends and teammates and all the other heroes of the world they had been able to gather. And so, she was waiting, along with all the others.
  18. GM UNISON Headquarters Geneva, Switzerland December 25, 2014 10:50 PM local time Just a few hours ago, UNISON headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland had been practically deserted, only a minimal security detail and a few technicians had been on duty, the rest home with their families for Christmas. That was until Colonel Ellis had been contacted by the Freedom League about an approaching threat from space. In the intervening time, scores of UNISON personnel had been called in, the headquarters now abuzz with activity as UNISON personnel were reaching out to contacts in governments and militaries around the world, as well as preparing itself for the possible arrival of a hostile alien force. Over a decade ago, UNISON had shocked many world leaders, when it had fielded a small fleet of space capable heavy fighters, the Uni-Storm, during the Grue invasion of 2003. Since that time, Colonel Ellis had managed to hold off efforts to decommission the Uni-Storm, which mean that UNISON had under its control a majority of Earth's space capable combat aircraft. The pilots for the fighters were still being brought it, and gearing up and receiving briefings for possible sorties. The mechanics that had been brought in were working as fast as they could to get all the fighters ready should they be needed, with more arriving all the time. Things were much further along than if there had been no warning, but they still needed a bit more time before they could get all the Uni-Storm into the air. During the past few hours, a number of even more unusual individuals had arrived at UNISON’s headquarters, as a group of superheroes from across Europe and the United States had arrived to offer what assistance they could. With Colonel Ellis' former connections with the Ministry of Powers in the UK, it was only natural that the current members of the Vanguard were present. Also present were two national heroes from countries in southern Europe, Professor Chiron from Greece, and Stella d'Argento (the Silver Star) from Italy. A pair of heroes had also transported to Geneva from the United States, sent by the Freedom League to assist as well. Currently the gathered heroes were with Colonel Ellis in a large command center in the center of the headquarters, where UNISON technicians were tracking activity all over the world as various militaries began the process of preparing themselves for the possibility of an attack, and keeping an eye on the telemetry coming in from numerous satellites and radio tracking stations on Earth that were scanning the heavens for signs of approaching ships. "So as of right now, we need about another half an hour to have all the planes ready to go into combat if needed." Ellis stated to the gathered heroes. "We can probably have half of them up in about twelve minutes, perhaps a bit sooner. As for the military units around the rest of the world…well, they are trying to mobilize as quick as they can, but this is probably about one of the worst times for such an attack in terms of the number of personnel away from base with friends and family."
  19. GM High Earth Orbit The Lighthouse December 25 th, 2014 9:40 PM Greenwich Mean Time (4:40 PM Freedom City) The last nearly two months had been busy ones aboard the orbital headquarters of the Freedom League. With so many of the senior league members off in space trying to help against the Communion, the work load for the remaining League members had increased, the team feeling rather stretched at times. The information sent back by the League members in space had done little to easy the stress of those remaining behind. As shocking as it had been to learn of the destruction of Lor-Van, what the Communion had done with the planets and peoples they did not just outright obliterate was perhaps even more horrific. But there had been little time to fully dwell on things, as there had been crises around the world and coordination with heroes across the world to try to be ready should the Communion turn towards the Earth. And then a few hours ago, the League members in space had sent a message back to the Lighthouse, stating that they had located the Communion's world killer spacecraft, and it was heading towards Earth. The remaining League members on Earth had moved into action, contacting the various heroes they had spent the last two months connecting with and getting people moving to various parts of the world to prepare should the Communion make it past the League members in space. Freedom Hall had served as a launch point for many, teleporting them up to the Lighthouse, and then back down to Earth to the various League teleport locations that had been set up over the years. For a time, everyone had been so busy organizing things, there was little time for anything else. But once they had coordinated setting things in motion, there was little to do but wait for news from the League members in space, of for the Communion to just arrive if there was no one left to hear from.
  20. Aboard the crippled Communion ship Corona's attack smashed apart the Communion infected Lor that stood before her, what was left collapsing to the ground in a heap. The other Communion pushed their way through the gaps in the Nomad's hull, but stopped a bit short of the Lor officer, their dark eyes regarding her as a loud, high pitched keening reverberated through the Nomad and then forming into words… On the operative Communion ship Galvanic's attack smashed through the door blocking her path, shattering the center and reveling the hallway continuing on beyond. Another pair of the Communion drones stood in her path, moving forward. But suddenly they stopped, regarding the Tempestian a moment, even as more emerged from other doorways further down the hallway. A loud, high pitched keening filled the hallway, then, it formed into speech, seeming to come from each of the drones before Galvanic, and none of them, all at once…. "YOU ARE NOT OF US." "THERE IS A SECRET SONG TO THE UNIVERSE, IN THE SOLUTION OF DARK MATTER. IN THE STATIC OF RADIATION FROM A COLLAPSED STAR. IT SINGS THE SECRETS OF EXISTANCE, AND YOU ARE DEAF TO IT. WE HEAR IT. WE HEAR ALL. WE ARE THE COMMUNION." "JOIN US, AND BECOME REFASHIONED TO A GREATER PURPOSE."
  21. Paradigm does not do well for her first roll, only getting a 16. Will use a HP for a reroll, getting a 29.
  22. Okay SG, then Mechanized can still act this round. There are no more Communion in the immediate area.
