  1. Dee gave a small frown at Annie's questions, for they involved concerns that the young Englishwoman had had about her own world plenty of times. Of course, after getting a small look at what Annie's was like, Dee was not about to take her own for granted, even if there was still tremendous room for improvement. "There are any number of other worlds. I don't think anyone knows how many truly exist, and the number may well be infinite." She began as a reply. "My world is far from perfect, I will be among the first to admit that. I wish I could say we were free from all those concerns and troubles, but we still have a lot of work to do as well. There is still far too much oppression and poverty in far too much of the world, but there are plenty trying to do what they can to address that in peaceful and constructive ways."
  2. Well they certainly do stink. Perhaps there is a correlation. Synapse replied through the mental link she still had up with Foreshadow. When one of the guards opened fire with his sub-machinegun, the Englishwoman was glad that she had told Professor Zaki to move around the corner and out of sight. She was also thankful for the man's rather poor aim. While she had confidence her telekinetic forcefield would take the brunt of a bullet, she still preferred not to test that. Deciding the man with the firearm was the most immediate threat, Synapse sent a blast of red psychic energy at the man's mind. The blast struck the man's mind, but he was somehow able to resist with seemingly no ill effect.
  3. Okay, Mechanized is up on the Aphelion. Corona is up on the Flagship.
  4. Okay, mind blast the guard still holding his sub-machinegun. DC 23 Will save.
  5. The Pirate Flagship One of the pirates knocked over by Corona's cosmic burst agilely kipped itself back onto its feet, a weapon in its hand. But it choose not to press an attack against the Lor and Tempestian. Similarly, the pirate standing at the door of the cargo hold held his fire, apparently in awe of how easily the Tempestian dispatched the pair of Broan. But then, from around the corner at one end of the hallway, a new figure came into view. The figure stood over seven feet tall, with long, gangly arms. It had grey skin and a long face, with the eyes and nose set up much higher than they were on a Terran or Lor. The figure wore long green robes, which went all the way to the floor, completely covering its feet. A yellow sash ran down the left side of the robe's front, where it met a yellow arrow shape followed by a small circle that were attached to the robe. In one hand the alien held a staff that was just taller than it, with a crooked head in which was set a green gem stone. A faint green bubble surrounded the figure and its green eyes looked at the two interlopers further up the hallway. "Greetings, I am Waymaker, herald of the great Prince Dovox." The figure stated. As it spoke, Galvanic heard its words in Tempestian, while for Corona, they were in Lor. "Dovox will allow you one chance to surrender and join him, before he is forced to crush you beneath his might. I would advise you accept this generous offer." The Aphelion The two pirates with the melee weapons tried to repeat their prior success against Memorial, the first moving in with a feint, but this time, she did not move as expected, instead reaching out with one hand to push the melee weapon away. So when the second pirate moved to attack where Memorial was supposed to be, he ended up swinging through empty air.
  6. The last Broan gets a 18, so he is knocked out as well! (Go ahead and punch him through another wall!)
  7. Foreshadow had watched the group of men on the rooftop of the old warehouse long enough to determine there was no pattern to their movements around the edges of the rooftop. So, the costumed crime fighter just waited until the security guards on the rooftop had moved away from where he intended to arrive, before he swung across the dark space between the buildings. As his luck would have it, the rooftop guards kept their attentions focused on areas away from the part of the night sky Foreshadow was swinging through, although it was questionable whether they would have been able to spot him in any event. After a few tense moments as he soared through the night air, Foreshadow landed quietly on the ledge of the old warehouse. The two security personnel were about halfway toward the other side of the rooftop, their backs still to the costumed crime fighter. So far, there was no sign of any floodlights set up to trip at his arrival.
  8. OOC for thread.
  9. "Just try your best to keep us updated with anything you find out." Detective Erickson stated as he saw Coiled Lightning back out to the entrance to the precinct. From there, the costumed hero quickly made his way back to where he had changed and was then once again making his way down the streets as Charlie Stevens. It was a short subway ride from near the precinct down to the Theater District. The neighborhood of the Theater District was numerous small apartment buildings clustered around numerous local theaters and clubs, which offered a wide range of performance options, from Broadway-style plays, to stand up comedy, to any number of live bands. Despite the recent murder, there was still a good sized crowd on the streets this evening, although people seemed perhaps a bit more wary and tended to be in groups. Bittman's museum was off in the southwest corner of the neighborhood, south of Broadway and just a few blocks from the border with the Fens. The buildings around it were a bit more rundown and dingy than in most of the Theater District, and the streets much less crowded. The museum was something of an oddity for the Theater District, which primarily focused on live performances, as opposed to static displays of art. It probably would have been more at home in Riverside these days than this part of Freedom City, and perhaps had been started when the area was a bit more mixed in terms of its venues. The museum was a three story building, a bit dingy, with a bright Marque with large light bulbs around the outer edges, an occasional bulb burned out or broken. Bars covered the lower windows of the building, which were painted over. The entrance to the museum was a small space set back from the main sidewalk, creating something of a vestibule before the two double glass doors into the building. A ticket booth sat in the middle of the space, with a somewhat bored looking young man sitting behind the thick glass. Retractable metal gates were visible on either side of the space, to be pulled close to seal it off from the sidewalk after closing. According to the sign on the ticket booth, Charlie had just under half an hour before the museum would be closing for the night.
  10. "Well, let's see about cleaning things up here before we make any decisions on pursuing Champion right now or not." Dee replied as Young Britannia mentioned just teleporting to the islands and whether or not they should call in Osprey and Catalyst. The young Englishwoman was not at all sure about Angus' plan to try to "fix" Lucy, given just how far the former Vanguard member seemed to be. But there were not too many other options, given how infectious Lucy's madness could be. Taking a deep breath, Dee focused herself a moment before giving Young Britannia a small nod. "Okay, I guess I am as ready as I can be. If you start to show signs of slipping in too deep, I'll shut you down."
  11. Southside, Freedom City, New Jersey Friday April 4, 2014 11:31 PM The weeks since Foreshadow had encountered some of the shadowy mystery man's men and Sureshot in Southside had been busy for the costumed crime fighter. The continued disruption of the status quo in areas of the neighborhood had kept him busy, trying to help curb the violence that was erupting between displaced gangs and other criminal elements. Some of his time had also been spent in trying to track down leads on Doctor Zero, the former Soviet superspy that had evaded capture during the incident at the Winter Olympics. There had been a few more brushes with the mystery man's men, who were well trained and equipped in comparison to those being displaced. But none had brought Foreshadow any closer to their boss than the prior ones, the crime fighter's normally reliable post-cognitive abilities continuing to fall short. And so he had needed to continue to focus on the more traditional methods of investigation to try to make some headway. Foreshadow had managed to track down the source of the military grade weapons the mystery man's men were using, Grigory Salnikov, an arms dealer with strong ties to military units in several of the breakaway Russian states. But knowing that Salnikov was providing the arms and ammunition was one thing, actually finding Salnikov himself proved to be yet another difficult task. But persistence and determination eventually paid off for the costumed vigilante, and he had learned that Salnikov was attending a show at an underground nightclub in the area of Southside that bordered the Boardwalk. And so Foreshadow sat on a rooftop a couple of blocks from the site of the underground show. The building was an old, multi-story warehouse. Most of the windows had been boarded up or painted over, making it hard to see what might be going on inside. The event could be using any one of the many floors, or maybe even a good number of them. A small crowd was gathered around what had once been the back loading dock for the warehouse, with several large bouncers there to control when people were able to get in. Foreshadow could see a number of other security personnel on the rooftop and at one of the corners of the building he could see from where he was.
  12. Amara had found the Old Town section of the capital rather fascinating, with its old buildings and streets. Of course, she had stood out among the crowds a bit more than many of her fellow new Praetorians, save for the former Murian officer, Elite. The young Naram took in the bar that Sitara had brought them too for a moment, as the bar's owner called out a welcome and directed the Praetorians to a seat in a corner of the main room. It was a bit run down, but certainly seemed a popular place, even if there were apparently fights that needed to be dealt with at times. At Moon-Moth's questions, Amara looked over at the Lanternian. "I am afraid I only know a little about Lantern my friend, but I look forward to learning much more from you during our time serving the Empire together." She stated. "I will help you find a drink that is of a milder potency to try first."
  13. Okay, Tsunami will continue to try to move twice the normal speed (DC 10), and misses the roll with a 8.
  14. Velocity frowned slightly at the Duke's smug comments. Part of the speedster just wanted to knock him unconscious just so she did not have to listen to him anymore. But for the moment the Duke at least appeared to be surrendering, so there was no real justification for that. "Your crimes are hardly unwitnessed." She stated. "For one thing, we witnessed them, as did you various servants that you ordered to carry us down here when you thought you had drugged us. So there is kidnapping right there. You are not as untouchable as you might wish to believe." "As for taking back any of the speed that you took from me, that will be something that the experts will have to look into. Perhaps we will be able to do so, but in an event, I do not really feel any less than I was."
  15. Velocity held up her hand to stop the old woman that was volunteering to leave as her gaze remained on the man that had spoken up. The speedster did not have time for any macho posturing or egos, or even just pure selfishness. "See, it is not just a bus, it is a bus filled with injured children. And I see plenty of room in here for them. The storm is almost fully past, so it is time to start doing what can be done to help those that were caught in it." "Since you wanted to speak up, you have just volunteered to come with me to help move the children here." She added. "Or…you can just end up taking a nap and we will get them moved here anyway."
  16. Velocity was somewhat uncharacteristically quiet while the discussions continued after it had been announced a majority of the senior League members were heading off into space to try to help with this Communion threat. But the speedster was listening to the discussion, while also allowing her mind to race at impossible speeds about all the possibilities. So many of them were not particularly good. "I agree with Gabriel." She said finally, returning to her more typical speech inflection as Velocity. "We should not be outright lying to the public, but we probably do not want to be telling them all the details of what is going on out there. The last thing we need is mass panic and possible rioting and other unrest. I think we will be having more than enough to worry about."
  17. Okay, we are almost there Shoe! Just a few things. Combat: With +8 BAB, your attack with Pick a Card and Scarves should be +10. You also need to list that you have a trade off of -2 damage and +2 attack for those two powers up at the top of the sheet. Knockback is half your toughness, rounded down, so it would be -3, unless you bump up toughness. Saves: So, Toughness is just below PL 8 caps. There are two things you could do to meet the cap. You could drop on rank of BDB (freeing up 2 pp) and either 1) pick up 2 ranks of Dodge focus (giving you +9 defense with a tradeoff) or 2) pick up 1 rank of Dodge focus and another rank of Protection. Skills: 14 pp would be 56 ranks of skills, not 53. Also, I only count 51 skill ranks spent. So, you either have 5 more skill ranks left to spend, or you could spend 1 skill point (thus only having 13 pp spent on skills) and use the other 1 pp for something else. Powers: For the Array: Flock of Doves: this could be Stun 7, but your choice. Levitation: you have the points to drop the flaw on Move Object, but again, your choice. Puff of Smoke: So, is this Teleport 5 or Teleport 6? If it is Teleport 5, you just need to change the 6 you have in there. If it is Teleport 6, then the range would be 600 feet, and it would cost 14 pp, which you can afford. So, your call. Impervious Toughness: this would be 2 ranks of Impervious Toughness only (for 1 pp), not 3 rank as you note up by your Toughness save. So you need to correct that up under saves, and note down in powers it is only 2 ranks. In the totals at the bottom, you still list 64 pp spent on powers, when it has dropped to 61, so need to correct that.
  18. Synapse gets a 17.
  19. Round Six 24 Pirate Interceptor pilots (3) (unharmed) 24 Galvanic (unharmed, 2 HP) 17 Elite Pirates (1 on flagship: bruised) 16 Average Pirates 15 Mechanized (unharmed, 2 HP) 15 Waymaker (unharmed) 12 Corona (unharmed, fatigued, 1 HP) 12 Sovereign (unharmed) 7 Memorial (bruised, 1 HP) 3 Tough Pirates (1 on flagship: bruised) Okay, Galvanic is up on the flagship! On the Aphelion, the Elite pirates will repeat their tactic from last round. First one attempts to aid: but just fails!. So, the second one gets no help as he tries to power attack (-3 atk/+3 dam), missing with a 12 The average pirates will hold their actions for the moment. So, SG, you can post an action here for Mechanized as well while we wait for Ecal.
  20. The Aphelion Mechanized's blast certainly drew attention from some of the pirates, but perhaps not the intention she had intended. The two large, hulking pirates looked passed the dazed Memorial toward the armored Terran and then rushed forward toward her with roars of anger. Both came straight at Mechanized, swinging large fists at her as the drew near. But the combat program of Emily's armor was already kicking into action as they reached her, and she side stepped the first attack and brought up one arm to block the second. The Pirate Flagship The last Broan pulled himself back up to his feet, as he eyed the smashed out wall and his comrade lying unconscious in the ruble for a brief moment. He then turned his gaze back at Galvanic as he gripped the large mace he was holding a bit tighter.
  21. While I wait for you IC post SG, the two tough pirates are going to charge past Memorial to attack Mechanized. They get a 12 and 14, so both miss and are a -2 def until their next action.
  22. Yes, that is still fine.
  23. Dee watched Lucy with a faint look of sadness. The young Englishwoman had heard similar ramblings plenty of times, from her own sister. It was rather odd that Lucy's would be somewhat similar to Susan's, given Susan's problems were tied to the process Headcase had put the twins through to develop their psychic powers. Not wanting to dwell on thoughts of Susan at the moment, Dee focused on the other issues at hand, as y Dderwen mentioned where he believe Champion had gone. "Well, sounds like we will need to break out some warm coats if we plan to follow this trial."
  24. "Well, this is Freedom City. There are some amazingly spry ninety year olds running around." Lance replied with a small smile. "But most likely he was not climbing up a fire escape to break into a upper floor window. Problem is we don't know if he is still in Freedom City, or even alive. It's possible he could have died decades ago, and his obituary has just never been placed in any online database." "Yeah, there is a lot that does not quite line up, at least not yet." Detective Erickson replied. "As for how you should proceed, well, I need to walk a very delicate line here. As a costumed hero, there are things you can do within the law that I cannot. But there also cannot be any suggestion that I am directing your efforts, or you fall under the same restrictions that I have. I just wanted to share with you what we have learned, but what you do with that is your choice."
