GM With the large earth creature shaking off the attacks from Miss Grue and Tsunami with seeming little ill effect, it lowered its large, rocky head to focus on Ulysses, who was standing on the ground near it, having just delivered a powerful and painful blow to its lower leg. The creature then lifted one massive foot up off the ground, and brought it slamming back down towards the steam powered hero. As fast as he was, Ulysses was unable to move out of the path of the stomp in time, the earthen and rocky foot slamming down on top of him with tremendous force and bulk behind it. Ulysses was smashed down onto the pavement of the PanStar facility, breaking through and then down into the hard earth beneath. The creature moved its foot back, reveling the smashed pavement and earth beneath, with Ulysses trapped in the small crater. On the two floating slabs of earth and rock Tundra had brought up to catch the twins, both of the young metahumans climbed back up to their feet, the one with the green in her costume much more unsteadily than her sister in red. Crimson looked over toward the earth creature, her eyes narrowing slightly as she brought up one hand and sent one of her red beams of energy flying at it. The blast struck the creature head on, causing it to stagger half a step backward as it let out another roar of pain. Tundra meanwhile brought the rocky platforms for Crimson and Clover back down to the ground, as she allowed her control over the rock and earth fade, so that she could soon try to take more direct action against the earth creature.

Ouch, that is not a good reroll. So Staggered and dazed for Ulysses. Crimson and Clover both are recovered from being dazed, and get back up to their feet. Crimson sends a blast of energy at the big earth creature, hitting with a 21. The Earth creature only gets a 25 on its toughness save, so picks up another bruise. Unless you want to spend you last HP removing the daze, it will be Miss Grue’s turn.

Velocity took in the scene inside the shelter quickly. It was already rather crowded, but hopefully they would be able to find space for the children from the bus. Of course, communicating with the people here already seemed like it was going to be something of a problem, but at least one of them seemed to speak some English. The speedster just hoped it was enough. "Hello, I'm Velocity, from the Freedom League, and I am here to help. There is a whole bus full of children that crashed not far away, and I need a place I can bring them to get them out of the storm."

As everyone aboard the Nomad prepared themselves to engage the pirates, Corona altered course towards the harried merchant vessel. It did not take the Lor vessel long to arrive to the scene of the pirate attack. The Aphelion was a long, narrow vessel, reaching a total length of just over 300 meters. Its design was such that it had several large cargo pods attached underneath and on the sides of the main hull. At the rear of the vessel were several large engine pods, easily twice as wide and tall as the rest of the ship. Over all, the design made vessel rather slow and decidedly unmaneuverable. Not at all what one would want to be in when being pursued by pirates. The pirate forces consisted of a small collection of vessels, of various shapes and sizes. Furthest back, and following after the Aphelion, was the largest pirate vessel, a small military class frigate. For the moment it seemed intent to stay in the background, and was not firing its weapons, clearly not wishing to just destroy its prize. Two smaller spacecraft, about the size of the Nomad were closer to the merchant vessel, one having taken position above it, the other, below and slightly off to one side. A trio of single person interceptors were streaking around the Aphelion, which showed signs of damage, slowing it even further as it tried to run. There were also a pair of what looked like shuttle craft in the process of docking with the merchant vessel, very likely carrying boarding crews.

Sure SG, although with only 6 pp in that power, it would only be Flight 3.

Amara gave Kharag a small nod of agreement at his assessment of the Communion as she waited for the Devotion to arrive at the disabled vessel. Just as the Either Ore appeared on the sensors, the Praetorians picked up other, familiar craft, also approaching. "It appears we do not have to wait long for the Communion to appear Kharag." The Naram stated as she stood up from the command chair on the bridge. "Hail the Lor vessel and tell them to have someone waiting at the airlock." She stated to one of the other Praetorians before looking back at Kharag. "I will fly you over there to go aboard to be ready if any Communion reach the vessel." She then turned and looked out at space beyond. "Meanwhile, I will try to stop those Communion ships."

Synapse gets a 16 on her Fort Save. And actually Synapse went before him, but not likely relevant now as she is stunned.

Well, communication is going to be a bit of an issue when you get out into space anyway, as most of the PCs do not have a means of receiving Emily's radio communications from the mech. Anyway, Rav is right, trying to deal with the penalties for the spacesuit (which are inherent to the spacesuit) would take about 50 hours of work, or 25 if you took penalties on the design/construction checks. Building the mag clamps would take far less time, but still a few hours. As Rav stated, you can jury rig, but that will require a hero point (per jury rigging).

"I am afraid we currently do not know what local predator it might have been, or what size it is." Gallan replied in response to Seika's comments and question. He then turned back to Oskar. "I can assure you, we could have been able to tell if it was some natural event, even if we cannot tell what sort of creature it is." The four then arrived at another door which Gallan opened by swiping one hand over the dark panel to the right side of the door. The door slide quietly open, revealing a fair sized room beyond. Like the botanical laboratory, the room was smooth and filled with a variety of work stations and equipment. Unlike the laboratory, the room also had a group of medical beds slightly indented into the far wall. The room certainly had a clean, sterile feel to it. A couple of other doors led off of the room, one to the right side of the room, the other on the left. A tall Lor appeared at the door to the right. He was wearing a coverall jumpsuit similar to Gallan and Tal'a's, but white, where theirs was a medium grey. "Doctor Rann, these are the experts that have been hired to assist us, Starshot, and his associate, Seika." Gallan stated by way of introduction. "They are here to see the remains of collection team 3."

Alright, to prepare us for examining the bodies, could I get either a Kn: Life Sciences or Medicine roll from each of you (with a +2 circumstantial bonus)
-
Okay, not to rush your interact forward too much, but if you each could give me either a Craft: mechanical or electrical, or Kn: Technology roll(s) for when you look at what they were trying to steal. (Gankun, you can add the +4 for Eidetic Memory for the Kn: Tech roll)

Machinefist only gets a 20 on his toughness save, I will give him a reroll (+1 HP to Lucy) and he gets a 16, increased to 26 on the second try, giving him another bruise. He will turn one of his hands into an long, double bladed weapon again and attack Lucy, hitting her with a 24, DC 26 toughness save for Lucy.

Dee had spotted the children playing by the riverside as she had rammed the gates open with the van. The sight did seem a bit out of place, but with her experience in other parts of Africa, it was not particularly surprising. "People often find shelter wherever they can, particularly where there is significant social and political upheaval." She said evenly in response to Erick's comment. "And that often means families. Children can be incredibly resilient and adaptive in the face of hardship." The young Englishwoman pulled the van to a halt as she looked about the compound a bit more carefully. She rather doubted there were children just living out here completely on their own, which likely meant there were some adults somewhere here. But then again, it had been a rather unusual day thus far.

"We did not wish to disturb either of you." Dee responded as she moved out into the open as well. “The Ministry has been concerned about what happened to the two of you and the rest of Vanguard, but what really brought us here was the reports of Lucy causing a group of travelers to go wild and attack one another.†"We need some answers, about what happened down in the village, and why you both are out here hiding." The young Englishwoman added. "I don't think either of us want to force either of you to return, but we would like to know what happened with Vanguard."

The earth creature is going to try to stomp on Ulysses, getting a 17 which is just enough to hit because Ulysses had used all-out attack, so DC 33 toughness save for Ulysses.
-
The massive earthen creature roared with pain at Ulysses' powerful blow, pulling its leg back from the steam powered hero. When Miss Grue slammed a massive fist into the center of its bulk, it took the blow with seemingly much less effect that that from the smaller hero. Giang seemed a bit disappointed that the cascade of water she had dumped on the earth creature had barely seemed to effect it. So the Asian teen decided for a more direct approach. Taking one step forward, she brought both hands up to her side and then thrust them forward as she focused her power. Jets of water shot forth from her hands, twisting and coiling around each other as the sped at the massive earth creature. The powerful jets of water slammed into the creature, splashing across its rocky, earthen hide. But while bits of rock and dirt were jarred loose, the creature seemed otherwise unaffected by the attack.

Round Nine 18 Tsunami (unharmed, fatigued, 3 HP) 14 Earth Monster (bruised 3) 9 Clover (staggered, dazed) 9 Crimson (bruised 2, dazed) 9 Tundra (bruised) 8 Ulysses (unharmed, 2 HP) 7 Miss Grue (bruised 2, 5 HP) Tusnami will blast at the Earth Creature, hitting with a 27 (DC 26 toughness save). The Earth Creature just makes its save with a 26.
-
The Earth monster gets a 19, but I will give it a reroll (HP to Miss Grue), this time it gets a 17, increased by 10 to 27, so it makes the save.

Okay YoF, sorry about the delay on this, busy weekened, busy start of the week and us trying to get the Event underway. Anyway: Fluff: now that I look at it again, your history is a bit sparse, could stand to be expanded some. How did she end up on Earth? How did she come to decide to use her powers to fight crime, etc? Combat: You still have not corrected that you have spent 6 pp on +3 BAB and 12 pp on the +6 BDB. Skills: I now count 51 ranks of skills, not the 48 ranks you list. You will either need to drop 3 ranks somewhere or move another pp from somewhere else (and have 1 rank left to spend). Also, in your fluff, you mention she works as an Electrician, but she has not skills to do so (ie: Craft: Electrical at the very least, maybe some ranks of Kn: Technology as well). Feats: Prehensile Feet: Yeah, this is not going to work. If you want to be able to avoid the penalty of walking on snow/ice, you need to buy ranks of Super Movement (Sure Footed), maybe with the flaw (only snow/ice). Wolf's Ears: Same thing, buy this as Super Senses (Extended Hearing). Powers: Flash Freeze: Yeah, nonbiological objects would work. Ice Creatures: well, you can "make" the summons as detailed as you without precise. So please just drop the feat. Ice Shapes: Progression: Size 6 is still extremely big (1,000 foot cubes, or up to a 10,000 feet), I think you would get a lot more out of dropping that down to 2 ranks and buying two more ranks of Create Object (for a total of 12).

Fair enough HG. Hey SG, one though for what Mechanized can do re: space - per our house rules, the Nomad has spacesuits available for Emily to wear. She could put one on before getting in her armor. The only down side, it would impose a -2 penalty to attack, defense and reflex.

As Memorial, Mechanized and Galvanic all prepared themselves for possible contact, Corona began scanning nearby space as she calculated a new course to sweep through the sector. While the Nomad had powerful sensors, there was a lot of area to cover. For a little over an hour, the Lor vessel made its sweep through part of the sector, passing a system with inhabited worlds, which answered Corona's hail and confirmed that there had been a recent pirate sighting a few systems away. Corona had altered course after that contact, moving deeper into the sector as she continued her scans. Then as the Nomad neared the next system, Corona picked up a transmission. "Any friendly vessels, this the merchant ship Aphelion, we are currently under attack by pirates, requesting immediate assistance. Repeat: we are under attack by pirates and require immediate assistance. Please respond."

Dee had frowned slightly as Annie's response, although it was not exactly unexpected. The saboteur was clearly intelligent, given the devices Dee had seen her make, and collected enough to play it cool in this confrontation. "I doubt you would believe me if I told you where I am from." The young Englishwoman had replied. "But as for who I am, I am the one who has been disabling some of the bombs you have left behind, such as the mine near at the cave entrance." But Dee's retort was suddenly overshadowed, as Ulysses erupted into action, ripping up a huge section of rock and flinging it into the air to send a deadly shower of debris raining down on the Thugee men. Dee was half stunned by the sudden violence, as she looked over at Ulysses. "What the bloody…" Then all was lost in an explosion that quickly filled the room with thick, heavy smoke. Dee still had her forcefield up, as she backed towards where she remembered the nearest wall, trying to focus on listening for the sounds of anyone moving. Of course, with all the smoke, she was unable to target anyone with her mental powers.

GM Daedalus began to provide some answers to several of the questions, starting with Gaian Knight's comments on how many were killed on Lor-Van. "The number killed on Lor-Van is currently unknown. It is known the Lor orbital cities near the planet were all successful moved away before it was destroyed, and extensive efforts were made to evacuate as many as possible. But as you say, even the Lor were unlike able to get everyone off in time." The immortal inventor then turned to Comrade Frost's comments and question. "It appears unlikely that this Communion is the result of some Khanate experiment. A'lan informed us that he and the other inner circle members had been in a meeting with Mentor discussing the attacks in the Unity before the attack on Lor-Van began. Mentor had informed the inner circle that the attacks on the Unity had fit information he had in his files, something that he had previously attributed to legends. But before Mentor could revel any more, he was infected by some sort of virus which shut him down. A'lan stated that Mentor is still offline, although he appears to be running self-diagnostics to remove the virus." "As for further attacks, at the moment, the Communion force at Lor-Van have not moved towards any other systems, nor have other Communion forces made any further advances in the Unity or other parts of the Lor Republic. That is not expected to be the case for long however." "The Star Knights are currently regrouping and preparing to move against the Communion." Captain Thunder then added as he spoke up once again. "The Lor also appear to be in the process of regrouping, although there is still a lot of confusion there, as could be expected after the sudden loss of their capital and the necessary evacuation. There is no information about what is going on within the Unity, but I rather doubt the Grue are just going to sit back and do nothing." "Maria has been recalled to CITADEL. A'lan also requested what additional assistance we could provide." He then added, pausing a moment. "There is so little information on the Communion right now, what its goals are, but from what we do have, it clearly seems intent on taking as much of space as it can, and seems to have somehow added Star Khan's forces to its ranks. There is no reason not to believe that if left unchecked, it would eventually make its way here. Therefore, Daedalus, Pseudo, Johnny Rocket, Bowman, Siren and myself will be accompanying Maria to CITADEL, to try to provide what assistance we can and hopefully help stop this Communion out there." "The rest of you will remain here to continue our primary mission of protecting the Earth, but also preparing for the possibility that the Communion could make its way here, either by slow advance, or similar to how it moved on Lor-Van. Each of you have connections in the wider superhero community, we will likely need to bring together as many of those as we can to be ready should that happen. The situation is as grim and serious as anything we have faced, but we at least have warning. How much warning that turns out to be only time will tell."
