  1. Dee listened to Ulysses questions and requests before she responded. <Well, it is not entirely clear how old this Key is, Singh almost made it sound like the legend had been around for some time. So we will have to see whether she is beyond reaching or not. But I won't let you get out of hand.> She mentally responded. She then gave a small nod and a smile as he stepped aside to let her lead the way in. <Well thank you, although I would not say you suffer from blind ignorance.> The young Englishwoman then surrounded herself with her red glowing forcefield of telekinetic energy as she moved forward, her blue eyes scanning the area for any signs of traps or the like.
  2. Amara listened to Kharag's outline of what he felt was a plan once he had recovered from his initial shock of learning how long they had been asleep. Before she could respond, Dragonid did, asking about the weapon the Communion was using to create wormholes. The Naram then listened to the various recordings from the Curator that were played back, not particularly liking some of what she heard from the Curator, but that was not something they could truly focus on at the moment. Moon-Moth then spoke up, noting some of what he had managed to observe regarding Communion's movements based on what information they had thus far, and then surprised Amara by nominating her to serve as Imperatrix for the surviving Praetorians, a nomination which was essentially seconded by Sitara. "I am honored at your nomination brother Moon-Moth." She replied. "Should it be the will of our brethren, I will accept that responsibility." She then turned to Kharag and his demand to be taken to the nearest battlefield. "I understand your concerns about the fate of your people Kharag, we will help you find them when we have dealt with this crisis. But rushing off to the nearest battle will not accomplish that. We may be able to overcome a portion of the Communion's forces, or we may all be killed and accomplish naught. It is clear that given our current numbers, this is unlikely a crisis we can overcome alone." "We do not have time to try to go an forge new armies or reunite any portion of the Empire, if such a thing is even possible. Instead, we must look for allies in those already under attack from the Communion." Amara focused back on map of the current status of things, or at least as far as the Curator knew. "We need to make contact with the Lor and Grue, as well as these Star Knights. They sought to protect the Lor homeworld at the cost of hundreds of their own, and seem to operate in numbers greater than we ever did. But I also am reluctant to overlook Moon-Moth's analysis of the next possible target for the Communion's wormhole weapon. This weapon is something new, and traveling to that location ahead of the Communion might well provide some clues to what it is up to."
  3. Giang gave a small understanding nod at Cerys' comment about being on the lookout for possible trouble. It was indeed something that came with their decisions to be superheroes, and certainly applied with her need to keep an eye out for possible agents of her father or Dr. Sin. If nothing else, that habit certainly translated well into her work as a lifeguard. The two young women made their way through the airport to a coffee shop, continuing to talk more about their summers. With Mali's flight still delayed, they then made their way outside to catch a shuttle out to the rental car company, so they could at least get that issue dealt with while they waited. After a short wait in line, Giang went up to one of the available agents and gave them her information. The young woman glanced at her computer and then replied, "yes, Miss Trang, we are so sorry for the earlier problems. Everything has been handled now and we have upgraded you to a premium package a no extra charge." She handed Giang the renal agreement and invoice as she continued, "your car is in row 6, parking space 11, just through those doors." Giang was a bit surprised by the sudden change of circumstances, but took the documents and made her way out the indicated doors along with Cerys. The two young women made their way through the rows of cars and turned down the indicated row, the indicated parking space just around the corner. As the space came into view, Giang barely noted the stylish convertible waiting for them, instead focusing on the young man leaning up against the car. "John?"
  4. "We have their bodies, if you wish to examine them." Gallan replied, his face seeming a bit queasy as he did so. "You can also speak with our medic who examined them after they were found." "There are a number of dangerous predators on Syl'n V." Tal'a then added. "As well as a number of herbivores that can become extremely aggressive if they feel threatened. But our teams are trained to recognize and watch for these species, and how to deal with possible confrontations as well. In any event, given the data on those known species, it is rather unlikely any of them would be capable of killing all four members of a collection team, two of whom are there specifically for security." The Lor scientist then continued. "But in truth, we estimate that no more than fifty percent of the species on Syl'n V have been identified, likely even less. This could be something we have never seen before."
  5. Okay Gankun, a few things for Ranger. First, you list him as PL 7 in the title, when he is PL 10 (you can edit that by selecting Full Editor). In skills, we do not really use the Profession skill here. You already have the skills a police officer would likely need (kn: streetwise, investigate, gather information, intimidate, diplomacy). I would take the 6 ranks from profession and possibly boost those other skills. Or, you might also want to pick up some ranks of kn: civics (knowing the laws you enforce) and maybe a langue (like Spanish). All the other skills look good. For Feats, instead of Connected, maybe Benefit: Police Officer? For the Huntermech, first, you should note that it is hard to lose. Also, you list it as a rank 17 device, when you have only paid for a rank 16 device (64 pp). You also only list it as having 80 active points, which is also a rank 16 device. Also, when I total up all the stuff within the suit, I get 81 pp of powers, so you have to drop a point somewhere. But, I have a question that might make this easy. For the Translator Chip, is the limitation meaning that you can only speak and understand (and read) Galstandard and no other languages? If that is the case, it would be far, far cheaper to just move that into the Galactic Database and buy the language Galstandard for one skill point. A couple of things with the Laser Bow. First on the Sniper Shot and Taser shot, the Improved Range feat only increases the range increment of the attack, it does NOT improve the maximum range of the attack. So for both attacks, the max range is 700 feet. The Sniper Shot thus has a range increment that equals the max range, while the Taser Shot has two range increments before hitting its max range. If you wanted to increase the maximum range, you would need to take ranks of Progression: Range. For the Multishot, the max autofire bonus it can achieve is +3. Autofire gives a bonus equal to half the attacks base damage or +5, whichever is LESS.
  6. "Yeah, you'd like that wouldn't you?" Jane stated with a small smirk at Charlie's comment about having her book club meetings more often. She then turned back to her work as Charlie made his way back out to the garage. When he logged into the account he used for Coiled Lightning, Charlie found an email already waiting for him from Detective Erickson. It did not have any details, the detective clearly worried about discussing any sensitive information by email, but the message did state that he wanted to talk with Charlie about "recent developments." The detective asked when Charlie might be able to make his way over to the precinct.
  7. Slice was clearly on the ropes after the powerful shock from Coiled Lightining's whip, which had sent him flying backward a good ten feet to slam into a wall. While the costumed criminal had somehow managed to hold onto his energy pistol, he could barely lift it at the moment, let alone line it up to even try to shoot back at the hero. Down on the driveway of the loading dock, the big thug noted with some satisfaction that the other, watery hero seemed to be taken care of for the moment, even having some trouble holding himself together. So the hulking figure turned his head to note the difficult Slice seemed to be having with Coiled Lightning. Crouching down slightly, the large figure leapt into the air, easily covering the fifteen feet between himself and the electrical whip wielding hero. As he came down to land on the loading dock, the big thug swung one of his meaty fists at Coiled Lightning, who was able to pull back away and avoid the clumsy attack. The other thug who had taken over behind the wheel of the van put the vehicle in drive, clearly eager to be leaving the scene. "Come on, hurry up!" He yelled back through the van, as if that would allow his fellow criminals to somewhat break away from their fight and just board the van. The other thug ran out of the back of the van and over to Slice, bending down to help lift the costumed criminal back up to his feet.
  8. The big thug will turn and leap back up onto the loading platform to attack Coiled Lighting. Even with Coiled's def lower than normal, he misses with a 4. Round Seven 16 Thugs 12 Coiled Lightning (unharmed, 1 HP) 7 Liquify (bruised, 1 HP) 6 Slice (bruised, staggered) 2 Big Thug (bruised 2) The thugs are not making any attacks, so Coiled's turn!
  9. Tal'a hesitated a moment at Oskar's question, glancing over at Gallan. The older Lor gave a small nod and she focused back on Oskar. "Please follow me to the botanical laboratory, I can better explain what we do there." She stated as she started leading the way through the outpost. "A biosphere is the total sum of all the ecosystems of a world." The female Lor said in reply to Seika's question as they went. The interior of the outpost was all smooth surfaces and well maintained. Kazzach had clearly spared no expense in providing its employees on the planet with the latest technology. Tal'a led them done the smooth, well lit corridors, eventually coming to a turbolift which took them up several floors. From there it was only a short walk to a portal which led into a large room with several computers and work tables. Tal'a moved over and picked a data tablet from a counter and moved toward one of the work tables. Activating the tablet, she quickly moved through several files and pulled up one in particular. "Sly'n V has a number of unique flora and fauna, but the species of greatest interest to us, and the reason for our presence here, is this plant." She tapped the screen of the tablet and a hologram appeared over the table. It showed a plant that had a main body which looked like an immense, fat bulb, surrounded by several broad red leaves. Several long, thick roots were also displayed, apparently deigned to reach deep into the ground several feet. "Over the course of each decacycle, the main body of this plant fills with a clear, blue tinted liquid which possesses remarkable medicinal properties. It is used in the production of several of our most potent hyposprays as well as a number of other medicines manufactured by Kazzach Biogenetics. All attempts to synthetically reproduce this liquid have failed. Similarly, all attempts to transplant or grown this plant on other worlds or in artificial habitats have failed as well. Even our attempts here to cultivate the plant in greater numbers have failed. So we are left with sending harvesting teams out regularly to extract the liquid from known specimens at locations across this continent and two neighboring ones." "It was one of those harvesting teams which was attacked and killed while out on its collection route." Gallan stated as he interjected.
  10. Synapse had waited for Ulysses to return before she started off toward the cave she had pulled out of the priest's mind. Luckily, she did not have to wait long at all. The Englishwoman was ready to see this dealt with, and hopefully then be able to find a way to get her, Ulysses and Bob back to their own dimension. Having spent time in Africa after finishing her degree, she was not unaccustomed to the poor conditions that were present in the slums near the cave. And while Synapse felt a fair bit of sympathy for those inhabiting these slums, she was currently not in a mood to be as gentle with them she might otherwise. She still tried to rebuff most with only a stiff dismissal or the like, but for those that were particularly aggressive with their begging or attempts to sell items, she turned them away with a bit of mind control. Soon, they were down at the base of the large hill which held the cave. <Well, there it is.> She mentally relayed to Ulysses. <Given the talents of this mysterious woman, it is safe to assume there will be traps, so we should approach carefully.>
  11. "Well, there goes any semblance of stealth then." Dee commented with a small smile. "Although, I think stealth has pretty much been impossible since Cairo." The young Englishwoman then started the van forward once more, guiding it down towards the main gate of the facility. As she did so, Dee raised her forcefield once again, wanting to be prepared for the possibility that some hostile force was lying in wait for them. Given the obstacles which had been thrown in their path thus far, she would be very surprised if the base was just empty, waiting for them to learn its secrets.
  12. Despite the setback of the sniper escaping or being rescued, Foreshadow took a bit of time to search the area for some possible evidence. He was rewarded to find a couple of shell casings from the shots the sniper had fired before the crime fighter had subdued him. After placing those in a couple of small plastic bags with a small rod to avoid toughing them, the costumed vigilante looked back out at the scene below. The police seemed to have captured most of the gang members that had been involved in the shoot out triggered by the disruption of the attempted drive-by. Also in custody were the two men from the van which had attacked the rear vehicle in the Shore Gangstas small convoy. It was possible there was other evidence in the van or around the scene of the fight Foreshadow had had with those men when they rammed the Shore Gangstas' car.
  13. Well, Dee does not have any real preparations to make, so she is ready to head straight there once Ulysses returns. As for a guide, she can just get the directions out of the minds of the unconscious Thugee as she waits for him to return.
  14. That hits, and the big guy just misses his save with a 19, so he picks up another bruise. Okay, make your IC post. Gankun, let me know if you want to use your HP to deal with the daze or just let your turn be skipped over.
  15. That is a big hit! Slice gets a 13 on his toughness save, so he is staggered and dazed! He also is knocked back into a wall on the loading dock. (So you can add that to your IC post) I will also say you can take a 5 foot step and get an attack against the big thug if you want with Takedown Attack.
  16. Okay Ex, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Moon-Moth has certainly been able to discern some things from the holographic map. First, the Communion's tactics are generally similar to what they were like during the Praetorians prior encounter with them, if larger in scale and more spread out. They appear to be a bit spread out, but you are also not certain the Curator's information on them is complete. The creation of the wormholes is indeed a new move by the Communion, which in the past were focused on trying to covert worlds into server worlds. You also believe you can see some sort of pattern forming, and believe you know which system might be next target to be turned into a wormhole. It is a system you are not familiar with.
  17. Round Six 16 Thugs 12 Coiled Lightning (unharmed, 1 HP) 7 Liquify (bruised, dazed, 1 HP) 6 Slice (bruised) 2 Big Thug (bruised) The thugs have acted, so Coiled Lightning is up!
  18. Slice staggered back a couple steps as the electrical whip shocked him, but remained on his feet. The hit also seemed to quiet him down, as he focused back on Coiled Lightining and simply aimed his energy weapon at the hero once more and fired. But his hand was still shaking from the electrical shock, and the blast went wide once more. The other new hero however was having a bit more difficult time. As the new thug behind the wheel of the van managed to shrug off Liquify's attack, the large thug took another swing at the watery hero, this time connecting. As Liquify had anticipated, the hit hurt. He found himself lifted up off the ground and sent flying backward about ten feet, stars forming before his eyes as he landed. The thug now behind the wheel of the van started it up, as the other thug loaded the stolen goods into the back.
  19. Well, 8, but same as 6. So he will be bruised and dazed, and knocked back 10 feet.
  20. Both Lor nodded greetings to Seika as she was introduced by Oskar. "Yes, we have been having a problem." Gallan replied to Oskar's summary of the reason for his and Seika's presence as he began to lead them back toward the entrance to the main building of the outpost. "Currently all collection teams are here at the outpost, so everyone is safe." "But we are approaching another collection cycle." Tal'a then interjected as she followed along. "So we will be needing to send out the teams once again." "Yes, that is correct." Gallan agreed. "We operate on something of a strict schedule with the collection cycles. We have them scheduled so at to maximize the amounts we can harvest, if we have too much deviation, then our production can be severely impacted."
  21. The Delazatri once again gave Kharag a slight bow, as Chrystaa continued providing translation of each side's words. <A wise and prudent plan. Your dignitaries and ambassadors can certainly help provide us with information on you people which will assist in making their removal more efficient. It should be little over a day after I am able to send off the message for a ship capable of carrying these chosen ones off world.> There was a brief pause, and then the Delazatri began to speak once more. <With the plans for beginning the recolonization of your people and their incorporation into the Empire set to begin, that leaves one other issue to discuss. That is your status and position going forward.> <For nearly as long as there has been an Empire, it has been protected by an elite force of individuals possessing great power. Dar Val-Ren,> the Delazatri dignitary indicating the powerful Naram who had only a short while ago bested Kharag, <is one of the Imperators of this group, the Praetorians. You are truly a great warrior and it would only be fitting that you join the Praetorians.>
  22. Dee could sense the priest trying to get into Ulysses' head, luckily the powerful gentleman proved more than able to resist the attempts to take over his mind. She was briefly taken aback by his rage against the priest and the cultists, but then they were extremists and more than happy to murder all three of them in their goddess’ name. So the Englishwoman focused back on Singh, how continued to believe that this was the end for him. "No, I told you, you are not dead yet." Dee stated to Singh as she moved over next to him. "You will have a story to tell your grandchildren, as you ride on your great Indian continental line." She took a moment to study the injury, and then picked up some nearby cloth which she tore into strips and began wrapping it around the area where the knife was, helping to stop the bleeding and stabilizing the knife somewhat as well. "That is about all I can do for him." She stated, looking up at Ulysses. "You need to get him to the hospital where we took Bob, them meet me back outside so we can continue on to the place I saw in the priest's mind."
  23. Dee will use that new hero point to get Jack of All Trades and then treat Singh with Medicine (+8 from Wis), so she will take 10 to treat him, getting an 18.
  24. Dee pulled the van to a stop a short distance away from the seemingly abandoned military base. "Wonderful, another bloody 'abandoned' relic from the Cold War." She commented, referencing the building where she and Erick had found Doctor Zero and the Sleeper in Russia during the incident at the Winter Games. "So, shall we just pull on up and try to get the gate open to drive right on in? Or go off and park this behind some sand dune outside the fence?" The Englishwoman asked her two fellow passengers. For herself, she had misgivings about both options, although at least the van would be a bit closer if they took it inside with them.
  25. Miss Grue is up!
