Red Venus and Splice (PL 10) - a duo of Tier 2 villains
Thevshi replied to souffle_girl's topic in Archives
Well, there is one slight issue here SG, when we announced the new PL 10 character slot, we also indicated that players can only have on character in the bank pending approval, that includes NPCs they submit. So, I'll move this over to the Character building for now. -
Giang still had the water she had removed from the Atlantean leader in the air in front of her, as she was somewhat caught off guard by the quick reaction of the two other Atlanteans to stab him as he gasped warnings about the "Drowned Man." Myrmidon quickly reacted, knocking the two remaining Atlantean soldiers unconscious with relative ease. She listened closely as Myrmidon treated the Atlantean leader, who reveled more information about the vessel they were on, and what this Drowned Man was planning. She then turned to regard Thaelia and the Marines. "This water was somehow controlling him." She stated, indicating the water hovering in the air and the Atlantean leader. "Both of them have the same water inside of them," the Asian teen gestured to the two unconscious Atlanteans, "and it also appears to be what killed them." She concluded, pointing to the dead Marines.

By the time Charlie was able to get back out as Coiled Lightning, he was no longer feeling any of the fatigue that had set in during his fight with Slice and his henchmen. At this time of night, the normal bustle of Midtown had died down considerably, but it was still far from deserted. The sidewalks outside the Midtown precinct were empty however when Coiled Lightning swung his way down to street level. Making his way inside, the hero found a large entryway with several benches along the walls on either side, currently empty. Several closed doors were along the side walls, and a single door was on the far wall, off to the right of a window behind which a uniformed police officer sat. He was already regarding the door as Coiled Lightning made his way inside. "Your that costumed crimefighter that showed up at the Mayfair Building earlier this evening aren't you?"

Velocity looked at the information on the screen in the Wreck Room's control booth, slightly surprised by the results. "Laughing gas? Well, guess the Duke is not too much for mass homicide." She commented. She keyed her League communicator once again. "Deadalus, Velocity again, turns out the device I had only contained Nitrous Oxide. But I could still use any analysis you might be able to make." With that, she was off in a blur of yellow, returning to the bookstore in less than a second. Coming to a sudden halt by the now slumbering Duke, the speedster looked down on him with a small frown. "Yeah, that figures." She then took out her cellphone to give Grim a call and learn what was going on back in Holland.

Deep Freeze The Solar Dawn did not have any true hole-in-the-wall bars, but the one located on the mid-hanger level, and well away from the casinos, was the closest that there was. Gathered in its somewhat crowded seating area were crew members of the various ships which had brought the casino patrons to the station, who still had duties to attend to on those ships while aboard, leaving them little time to go too far when they had free time. The bartender was from an insectoid species Ana had never encountered before, with four arms long arms that moved about in almost dizzying fashion around it. It turned its head to regard the armored human, with large multifaceted eyes as one of its arms reached up and took a bottle of a high shelf behind the bar and brought it around to set on the counter in front of Ana. *Bzzt*"20 standard credits."*Bzzt* It stated as the hand that had brought the bottle out opened to accept the payment. Starshot "Excellent." Nerrit replied, rocking back and forth happily a brief moment. "Lift off can be as soon as I get you introduced and everything is finalized. The passengers will be, I believe, one General Tolaan and his attendant. The general hails from a region to the far side of the Unity."

Back in the Inner Circle meeting room, the interior had returned to its normal polished white appearance, the elder Star Knights present busy trying to figure out how exactly someone, or something, had managed to force Mentor offline. Holographic screens appeared in front of several of the Inner Circle members, as they reviewed various data, looking for anything unusual or out of the ordinary. "There have been no alarms tripped or other sign of intruders in the chambers holding Mentor's processors." Stated one of the Inner Circle. "I am still seeing activity within Mentor's systems." Added another. "But it is far lower than normal, almost as if Mentor is rebooting and trying to run diagnostics." "But how could anyone have been able to upload any sort of virus or other offensive program into Mentor? That would require compromising a Star Knight and their armor and using the link with Mentor." A'Lan Koor was in thought a moment, when he spoke up. "Mentor stated he had dispatched Star Knights to the area near where the attacks where taking place in the Unity. Perhaps whomever is behind those attacks also wanted to cripple Mentor and hope to disorganize and disrupt any response from the Order?" A brief silence fell over the room as the other members of the Inner Circle considered the statement. Then, one of the spoke up. "We need to confirm the location of all those Knights, see if any do not report in." "In the meantime, shall we take action?" Asked another member. "Mentor clearly seemed to view whatever is behind the attacks on the Unity as a potential threat. Shall we mobilize some Star Knights and dispatch them to the area?" "We may have another problem to deal with." Interjected a member focusing in on something on the holographic screen in front of him. With a touch of a "button" the room went black once more a map of a series of systems became the focus in the center of the room. "Energy signatures similar to those detected in the Unity systems that have been attacked are approaching Lor-Van." Again a brief silence feel over the Inner Circle, as they looked at the image of the capital of the Lor Republic before them, red lines indicating the energy readings heading straight toward the system. "How did they penetrate so deeply into the Republic?" "However they did so, they are there, and approaching the Republic's capital." Koor stated. "The time to act has come." "Agreed." Stated the senior most member of the Inner Circle. "Sound the general alarm, mobilize all available Knights on Citadel. They will seek to intercept the force approaching Lor-Van. Begin a recall of deployed Knights so we can prepare to move against this enemy in the Unity. Until Mentor is back online, it is up to us to guide the Order!"

"Business is business." Nerrit replied, holding his web hands in an open gesture. "But you may wish to be careful about getting too comfortable with the thought that Zaul being gone. The cagy reptilian has dropped out of sight before, only to return." The amphibian then waved one web hand dismissively. "But enough of whether Zaul might truly be gone or just hiding under some rock once more. I contacted you because I happen to have a potential job for you and the Xeno. Someone that is looking for passage to a few…out of the way places, without too many questions asked, and some assistance in finding some lost objects."

A'Lan Koor had joined the other eleven members of the Inner Circle in the large room in which the held their meetings. The room was oval in shape, covered in smooth, polished white marble. It contained a circular table, open in the center, similarly white and polished in color, as were the high backed chairs in which the white robed members of the inner circle sat. As the meeting began, the white walls, table and chairs, all shifted to black, across which, images of a sectors of the galaxy were displayed, turning the entire room into one large holographic map of areas in which Star Knights were operating. The images could zoom in, or out, as necessary, to show more detail of particular areas, or provide a wider view of the entire regions of space. Mentor was also present at the meeting, or at least part of the powerful AI's consciousness was, projected above the open center of the table, and seemingly looking at each of the members of the Inner Circle at once. Currently the holographic images projected about the room were displaying the sector of space that covered the Grue Unity, the Lor Republic and the Stellar Khanate. "A number of reports have come in recently regarding attacks of a number of systems along one of the outer boarders of the Unity." One of the other Inner Circle members was reporting, as more than a dozen systems along the spinward boarder of the Unity illuminated. "Currently we have not been able to identify those responsible for the attacks." "The Stellar Khanate has been unusually quiet of late." Spoke up another member of the Inner Circle. "Perhaps they are responsible for this aggression against the Unity?" "The Khanate would not be consistent with the reports we have thus far." Replied the first. "This appears to be some new threat." "Why are we so quick to assume that whomever is attacking the Unity is a threat? The Unity has clearly been the aggressor on numerous occasions, perhaps this is just retaliation for prior acts by the Unity?" Asked a third member of the Inner Circle. "Despite the Unity's prior aggression and even if there is justification for these attacks, the fact of the matter is that any group that can so quickly take systems from the Unity is not to be dismissed without learning more." Koor interjected. Several of the Inner Circle were quiet a moment, before nodding in agreement. Then Mentor spoke up, drawing all eyes to the hologram in the middle of the room. "Your counsel is wise A'lan Koor. As it turns out, I have reviewed the scant details in the reports received thus far as well as directing a few nearby Star Knights to the area to try to learn more. Based on the information I have received, I believe I have ascertained the nature of the threat responsible for these attacks, one of which I had previous knowledge." There was a small murmur of conversation among the Inner Council until Koor spoke up once more. "What can you tell us of this threat Mentor? What should our reaction bet?" "Until these recent events, I had regarded the information I had previously gathered as little more than legend." Mentor began. "But given the new information I have obtained, I can confidently state that the incursion into Grue space is the work of -.." Mentor's holographic image suddenly seemed to freeze as his words trailed off. Then suddenly it began to cut in and out, distorting as it did so. "Grrrzzt zzzttttrr lzzziiiik." Mentor's voice crackled, sounding as distorted as the holographic image. Then suddenly, the image was gone, and there was only silence as the twelve members of the Inner Circle looked on in shock.

Dee's patience had been wearing thin ever since they had first arrived here, and now she was done with Captain Singh's narrow view of the world. "You might find it unbelievable, but it is true." She stated with a steely voice as she batted away the offered tonic. "I am perfectly fine, if a bit overheated, but none of that is effecting anything I am saying." Reaching down to the belt of her costume, Dee pulled out her smartphone, holding it up for Singh to see. "Ever seen a device like this? It is called a smartphone. Where I am from, there are relay towers scattered all over the globe that allow anyone with one of these to call pretty much anywhere on the planet. But that is not all they can do, this also happens to include a camera." She stated, indicating the small camera lens on the back of the phone as she pulled up the camera app and held the smartphone up to take Singh's picture. She then turned it around and pulled up the picture she had just taken. "Ever seen, or even heard of anything that can do that?"

Jane returned Charlie's hug when he reached the car, giving a nod in agreement when he suggested picking up some fast food and heading home. By the time they got back home, Charlie was feeling a bit better, the hits he had taken during his fight with the costumed villain and the large thug had faded, but he still felt tired from pushing himself during the fight. The local stations all had coverage of the event in their new broadcasts, though none had had anyone there to capture anything on film, relying on interviews with witnesses and a few cellphone captures of the fight to provide visuals for the story. All the stations reported that the criminals appeared to have been after the contents of the time capsule, which had been taken to the Midtown precinct to be examined to see if there was anything linked to the eighty-one year old Garrote murders. Taking to the internet, Charlie was able to get a few reports about the villain with the energy pistol, who apparently went by the name Slice. There was not a lot on him, but from what Charlie could find, it appeared he operated as muscle for hire. There was nothing Charlie could find about the big thug that had accompanied the costumed villain. He was also able to confirm that Scott Lewis wrote for the Daily Hearld.

GM With Miss Grue focused on trying to help Ulysses escape from his rocky prison, and the one free PanStar guard now shooting at Tsunami, the green and red glowing twins turned their attention back to causing more destruction around the facility. Clover sent another glowing yellow energy sphere at a parked truck, smashing the vehicle underneath. Crimson sent a blast of red energy at another truck, blasting apart the hood and causing a fire inside the engine compartment. Down on the ground, Tundra turned her attention to Tsunami, sending a blast of rock and dirt flying at the Asian teen. But Tsunami was able to agile dodge the attack, flipping off to one side and landing in a low, defensive stance.
-
Clover will smash at nearby truck with one of her energy constructs, while Crimson blasts another. Tundra sends a blast of rocks and dirt at Tsunami, but misses with a 16. So, Ulysses is up (and still trapped in the snare)!
-
Tsunami recovered from being hit by the PanStar energy weapon, focusing her attention on the security guard outside her water dome. "I am here to help you realize." She called out flatly. "I have been putting out the fires started by the three villains and put that water dome around your companions to try to protect you from them." But the Asian teen did not really count on being able to reason with the security guard, instead preparing herself to dodge any attack that might come from him, or from any of the three supervillainess that were still very much active.
-
Round Six 18 Tsunami (unharmed, fatigued, 2 HP) 9 Clover (unharmed) 9 Crimson (bruised) 9 Tundra (bruised) 8 Ulysses (unharmed, bound and helpless 0HP) 7 Miss Grue (bruised, 2 HP) Last: Security guards (5: 4 trapped in water dome (-2 toughness to dome), 1 free) Tsunami is up, but as she is maintaining the water dome, there is not much else she can do, so she will use the Total Defense action to boost her defense to 14.
-
GM The four PanStar security personnel "trapped" inside the solid water dome all turned their weapons at the dome and opened fire. Most of the blasts were easily absorbed by the dome, but one managed to put some more cracks in its surface. Despite the damage it had taken, the dome was still solidly in place over the four men. The one remaining free security guard took a brief moment to regard the situation. The two glowing women had proved resistant to his weapon, and the massive red teenager was currently trying to free to man trapped in the rock. So the guard turned his weapon at the other teenager who had "attacked" him and his four companions with the water dome. The guard fired a blast from his energy weapon, which hit Tsunami squarely. But the thin sheen of swirling water that surrounded the Asian teen absorbed the blast, Tsunami only taking a slight step backward from the force of the impact.
-
Okay, we are going once more! The four security guards "trapped" in Tsunami's dome will try to blast their way out of the dome, four DC 20 toughness saves for the dome: 21, 12, 28, 24, so makes the first, misses the second (another -1 for its toughness) and still makes the second two, even with the additional -1. The free guard will fire on Tsunami, hitting with a 25 (as a minion, he cannot score a crit on her). Tsunami makes her toughness save.

Dee grumbled once more as the cowardly captain continued them away from the fight. For the moment she remained focused on the professor, who had broke the surface once more after she had managed to free him from the creature grappling him. The red glow around the Englishwoman disappeared, except for her extended right hand. Out in the waters of the Nile, Professor Zaki was surrounded by a similar red glow, as he was lifted up out of the water by Dee's telekinesis and then brought back over to the boat before she gently sat him back down inside, or at least as gently as she could. <"I believe the Frogmen are dealt with."> She exclaimed to the captain. <"Now get us back closer so we can pick up Erick!"> She had already turned back to scan the water for Erick.

Be sure to let me know if you think anything is off character for Jane.
-
Charlie heard a relieved sigh over the phone before Jane replied. "I made it back to the car and have been waiting for you getting worried sick!" She began. "I am just glad your alright and did not get caught up in that mess." As Charlie went on about seeing "one of those heroes" arrive, there was silence on the other end, and Charlie could imagine the frown that was likely on Jane's face. "Figures, one of those costumed glory hounds shows up to interfere with the police handling things. How much property damage resulted from that interference?" She then stated, the irritation that was typical when she discussed the topic of costumed heroes present in her voice. She then paused and let out another sigh, calming herself. "I don't really want to get into this right now. Are you still far from the car?"
-
So, now that we are out of combat, would Dee need to make any roll to pick up the professor with her TK? (With her power reserve to the TK, she has enough strength to lift a 200 lb person out of the water and move them some 115 feet)
-
Hey, no worries, happens. Glad to hear things going better.

Down on Citadel's largest continent, there stood a massive fortress which consisted of a ring of a dozen towering spires, each the width of several city blocks of a major Terran city and climbing up to well over a mile in height. From this inner ring, another dozen smaller buildings, each no more than ten stories in height, extended outward for several miles, connecting to each of the major atmosphere sectors of the most unusual planet. This was the central headquarters for the Order of the Star Knights, the interstellar guardians of freedom and justice. Within those walls were the vast processors which contained Mentor, the enigmatic cybernetic computer network that contained the knowledge and experiences of thousands of individuals. There were also training facilities, living quarters and various administrative and support offices for the Order. Inside one of the courtyards within the ring of spires, several dozen new recruits for the Order were paired off to spar with quarterstaves. Gathered from far corners of the galaxy, the recruits consisted of a wide array of species, representing the diversity which Mentor valued and sought to teach the members of the Order to respect. A'Lan Koor stood on a balcony overlooking the courtyard, observing the new recruits training. It had been many cycles ago that the Lor had been one of those new recruits, training to become a member of the Order. After completing the training and becoming a member of the Star Knights, Koor had been stationed on Earth for over a decade, where he had been a member of the Freedom League. He had then returned to space, where he had encountered his old teammate Daedalus, who had spent some time out among the stars, the two working together to help halt Star-Khan's attempts to invade the Lor Republic. Since that time Koor had continued in his service to the Order, eventually raising to join the ranks of the Inner Circle, the group of senior Star Knights that assist Mentor in administering the Order Koor still wore his light blue armor, but now with the addition of white robes worn over the armor, marking him as a member of the Inner Circle. While he understood the importance of his duties with the Inner Circle, there was still a part of him that longed to be out there among the stars still, protecting the innocent and combating threats to order and stability. A small chime from his armor's communication system pulled Koor's attention away from the training below him. It was almost time for a meeting of the Inner Circle. Taking one last look at the new recruits, A'Lan Koor turned away and started off towards the meeting.

GM After confirming Giang's identity, Septimius focused back on Lord Zandar. "Jungle Lord, seeing as we have encountered one another, perhaps you and your charges would be willing to assist us in tracking these unknown outworlders in order to determine if they pose some form of threat?" Lord Zandar had a cool expression as he considered the tribune's words. "Allow me a moment to converse with my young friends." He stated, gesturing for the Claremont students and his daughter to join him off to one side away from the Romans. Septimius gave an acknowledging nod and moved back over to check his mount for a moment while the group gathered together. "The pathway through which I brought you here is but one connection the Lost World has with yours, though most of the others are more unstable and not always open. It is possible whomever these unknown outworlders are, they could have wondered into such a portal by accident. But on the other hand, they apparently moved along the edges of Roman lands, and instead of heading towards the signs of civilization, instead have moved out into the wilderness." The Jungle Lord began in a low voice. "We are also near a valley in which lie many old ruins, and the tracks appear to be heading in that direction." "It may well be appropriate to accompany these legionnaires, but I would not do so without your agreement."
