The heart of the Delaztri Empire Over two thousand years ago Amara Val-Ren knelt on the smooth polished white floor of a large great hall of the headquarters of the Praetorians as she repeated the oath of allegiance to the Delzatri Empire. Her voice joined those of over a dozen other beings kneeling nearby, as they all swore their loyalty and life to protecting the Empire and its citizens. Amara was dressed in a full length white bodysuit, with black diamond shapes, surrounded by golden yellow trim, on the shoulders, upper chest and back. Her long black cape rested over her and was spread out slightly on the floor around her. For the young Naram, this was a moment she had long dreamed of, ever since her older brother had joined the ranks of the Empire's greatest protectors. Following in his path had been a difficult one, yet despite the hardships and sacrifice required, Amara had not wavered in her devotion or focus. "And I shall not falter in my duty, even unto death." Amara recited as she completed the oath along with the others around her. As she finished, Amara raised her head, looking up at the room around her once more. Gathered along the wings of the hall were more than sixty members of the Praetorians, gathered to watch the newest members recite their oaths. Gathered at the front of the hall were the six senior most Praetorians, with Amara's own brother, Daar Val-Ren in the center, similarly watching on. Darr Val-Ren was well over six feet tall, with a powerfully built physique. He had dark orange skin which was characteristic of Naram, with short dark blue/black hair. He was dressed in a uniform similar to Amara's, only his was primarily black, with red diamond patters and a long red cape. "Your oath is complete, welcome brothers and sisters, to the Praetorians!" Daar Val-Ren announced in a strong voice that carried easily through the large hall, followed quickly by a booming cheer from the gathered members. Amara stood back upright, an feeling of elation sweeping over her as she looked to her brother with a small smile, before turning to begin congratulating her fellow new Praetorians...

Rose, sorry about the delay! Just a couple of things: Skills: You left out the 5 ranks for Intimidate. For the Communicator on the Wings of Muras, not sure you need to pay a PP for that to be part of the Device. Also, per our current house rules for Communication, there really is no more 1 EP communicator, characters are generally allowed to have a cellphone (or equivalent device) for free, but that device cannot be used during combat. If they want a communicator that can be used in combat, they need to buy the Communication power (either at equipment or a power/device, with equipment communicators requiring a move action to use, along with other limitations). For the Sword, on the Drain Strength, Slow Fade 4 seems rather high to me.

Well, that is problematic in another way. While Summers has certainly allowed students on campus that bring a certain amount of potential danger to other students with them, they were/are still teenagers/minors and usually not to blame for the situations they are in that create the potential danger. It would be a bit uncharacteristic for Summers to allow an adult to come hide among his students, bringing potential danger to them due to circumstances that she is at least in part responsible for.

Well, there are a couple of possible issues with the background. First, Claremont's existence as a school for metahuman teenagers (not specifically mutant) is not common knowledge. Second, parts of the backstory are a bit of a stretch, given the headmaster of the school is the setting's Batman (ie the original Raven).

"Yes, I am not sure you quite realize who you're dealing with here." Velocity commented quickly. "Now let's be done with this threatening civilians shall we?" Then in a blur of movement she had run over and snatched up the briefcase beside the Duke. Before the Duke even registered it was gone, the yellow clad speedster was out of the bookshop and off toward City Center, speeding into Freedom Hall and quickly descending down into the lower levels where the Wreck Room was located. After quickly ensuring it was not currently in use, Velocity tossed the briefcase inside, sealing the room. She then stopped up in the control room, turning on the room sensors. "Daedalus, this is Velocity, I have placed a potentially dangerous object in the Wreck Room and have sealed the room. If you could come down and deal with it, I need to get back out there and run down the one behind this." She said into her League communicator.

Giang listened closely to Creys' descriptions of her trip to Patagonia. The Asian teen had a warm smile on her face, happy to hear how much her friend had enjoyed her time there. When Creys' become apologetic about talking for so long about her trip, Giang gave a small shrug. "There is no need to apologize, I am sure Mali will have similar stories to tell about her trip to Thailand, and I have some about my…after graduation trip with Thaelia and then my move here." She then turned to regard the hallway through which arriving passengers came. "And speaking of Mali, she should like have been here by now." Moving over toward one of the monitors in the terminal, Giang checked the status of Mali's flight, noting with a bit of disappointment that it was currently delayed. "Well, perhaps this will work out for the best." She stated to Creys. "While we wait for Mali, we can try to go sort out whatever issue the rental car agency is having with getting me the vehicle I reserved."

The police seemed a bit reluctant to just let Coiled Lightning leave without giving his statement first, but apparently were accustomed to having to deal with metahumans that did not always follow standard procedures. So after confirming the officers were out of the Midtown precinct, Coiled Lighting was off onto the rooftops, moving a few blocks away before he would head back down to the street level in is normal clothes to find June. Now that adrenaline was starting to fade, Charlie could feel really feel the hits he had taken during the fight, along with a since of weariness similar to when he had gone on forced marches while in the military. Just as he was back down on the sidewalk, starting to think up what his story would be, his phone buzzed almost angrily, the call ID confirming what he already guessed. It was Jane calling…

Now that they were closer to the building, the pair could see that the building looked rather sealed up. Several of the front windows were half broken out, but there were metal grating fixed over them. The main door was shut as well, with a metal link door added over it as well. But through the grating and broken windows, they could make out a faint bit of light from somewhere deeper in the building. Of course, it was possible that some side or back entrance was more accessible, and there was a chance it could have a skylight or two that were not so firmly locked down.

Giang was quiet as John examined the bodies they found just inside the airlock, considering his observations carefully. The revelation that they were United States Marines as well was a strong indication of why they had been called in by the military, as apparently they had already attempted to investigate this vehicle, and lost the team that was sent to do so. But they the three Atlanteans rounded the corner calling out for them to identify themselves. Right away the Asian teen could tell there was something wrong with the three, they were being influenced by some outside source. Then she noted the unusual amounts of water within their bodies, even for an Atlantean actually in the ocean, let alone one operating in a oxygen environment like these were. The water was seeping from their mouths, even seemingly from their pours. She could tell the water was seawater, but likely from very deep, given the amount of silt and sediments she could detect in the water. Not having an easy means of conveying this information to the others, Giang decided to act as if everything was natural for the moment. "Do you not recognize Princess Thaelia of the royal family?" She stated to the leader, indicating Thaelia.

Well Ari, regarding the Praetorians (Traveler, Paradigm, Elite and others coming), describing them as "last survivors" is probably not very accurate. For one thing, there are several of them, so, they are not alone or "last." Also, while the space empire they once served and protected is gone, most of them came from planets/races that likely still exist (even if they have changed over time). Traveler for instance is from Earth.

Velocity was grateful for Edge stepping in when Lord Harridan began heading toward the house, with his army apparently ready to follow him and they received Hologram's telepathic message about what Gargantua had reveled about the only Harridan he had known on Gorilla Island had been a criminal and a traitor. She was now not so sure letting Harridan see the freed ape was a good idea, but did not see a way to prevent it now that he clearly wanted to see Gargantua. As Edge began making the case for only Harridan going in to see Gargantua, the yellow clad speedster nodded her head in agreement. "It probably is the best thing. Besides, there would not be enough room in there for all of your soldiers."

The officers provided their names, which Lewis took down to use in an story on the incident, along with Coiled Lightning's name. Everything at the scene seemed to be under control now, the downed police officers apparently not suffering any serious injuries as paramedics helped them up and to ambulances. The two masked men that had been subdued were checked over as well, and then placed in the back of one of the squad cars that had arrived after the incident. The two officers that had been in the fight, now in possession of the dufflebag with the capsule's contents were preparing to leave for the station when they looked over toward Coiled Lightning. "Did you want to come down to the station to help see this stuff there? You can give your statement there as well."

When Amir located Deborah Magson, he found her talking with Nadiya Schmidt, an attractive woman in her early forties, with short black hair (with a touch of grey) wearing a red dress. Next to Nadiya was a stunning young blonde woman in her early twenties, wearing a bikini that shifted colors from blue to black as Amir approached. "Well hello again Mr. al-Misri." Deborah said in greeting. "I trust everything is well? You seem bothered by something." "Good evening Mr. al-Misri." Nadiya said with a small smile, a faint Russian accent noticeable.

Lewis seemed hesitant to give up the cloak for a moment, then he reluctantly released it as Coiled Lightning placed it back in the bag and handed it back to the police officer. The officer gave the hero a nod and a small smile. "That's alright, I can understand after that fight. You took some pretty hard hits there but kept on going. What do you call yourself?" At this point, a trio of squad cars had pulled up along Allen, their sirens wailing briefly before being shut off, although the flashing lights were still going. An ambulance came pulling up just behind the squad cars, the paramedics exiting quickly as the newly arrived police officers split up, some moving over to help secure the scene at the site of the fight, while others moved out to help keep away a crowd that was starting to grow now that the fight was over.

Velocity felt a bit of a chill down her spin as well as the Duke threatened the employees and customers in Grim's store. There was also a fair bit of anger as well. Giving Grim a small nod, the speedster replied. "Okay, sure, run around a bit." She then handed the phone over to Grim as she mouthed to her and Robert shut down this machine. Then the yellow clad speedster was gone in a blur of motion, taking one half lap around the room to at least register a power spike, assuming the Duke could somehow sense it, and then she was gone from the room. This time, Velocity was not taking things "slow" but poured on all her speed, simply vibrating her body through walls and doors of the castle and some other obstacles as she streaked across the Dutch landscape before reaching the sea and then continuing on across the surface of the water. Barely a second had passed before she was out into the Atlantic, not slowing as water kicked up behind her from her rapid passage. The Duke really did not seem to appreciate just how fast she really was, assuming that the distance between them would prevent her from reacting to stop him. Barely three seconds had passed before she had reached Freedom City and made her way over the West End and the bookstore, quickly scanning the area around the store before vibrating herself through a wall and into the store, where she physically slowed down once more, but was quickly scanning the area for a sign of the Duke...
-
Okay, as indicated in chat yesterday, it will only be a move action for Velocity to run at top speed back to Freedom City, once at the bookstore, she will take several free action Take 20 Notice checks to scan the bookstore for the Duke.

GM Kzara had moved out from cover as well once it became apparent that the legionnaires were not just going to attack. She stood slightly off to one side, eyeing some of nearest legionnaires as she half listened to what her father and the tribune were talking about. When Gene came over and whispered to her, the girl turned her head back to regard the teen for a moment before she shook her head and gave him a small smile. "No, as loud as you were, you could not have bothered them in Nova Roma. It is many leagues away, well over a day's travel." She replied. She then turned her head back to study some of the Roman soldiers once more. "Whoever it was that bothered them, they have come a long way."

GM When Fleur teleported back to the church, immediately starting off with trying to be as cheerful as possible, her words suddenly came to a halt as she found Staff Sergeant Reynolds, Specialist Jones and the priest all lying on the floor in the room where she had found the priest trying to treat Reynolds' wounds. Quickly looking over the three men, Fleur did not find any lacerations, burns or any other sign of physical injury to them. Their breathing was steady and even, but it was not at all clear how they had been rendered unconscious. There were a number of muddy foot prints in the room, but it was difficult to tell if they were from the same person or a number of people. When Fleur called in to Freedom Hall, Bowman responded back. "Thanks Fleur, I found the Sergeant. Seems the only way he could think to try to conceal the device he was trying to get away from those bad guys that were after it was to put it on. Now…well, he has already accidently blasted apart a bench in the garden with an electrical blast, but for the moment seems to be keeping that under control."

Looking over the cloak, Charlie did not see any identifying tags, although there appeared to be some sort of stain on part of the cloak. Scott Lewis was not hard to find, the reporter had not moved from where he had been hiding until the van had disappeared from view and it was clear that the fight was over. The police officer had started checking on their unconscious companions, and the sounds of sirens could be heard in the distance. Lewis' face lit up as he saw the cloak, rushing over toward Coiled Lightning. "So the eyewitness was right, the Garrote did stop by here that night!" He exclaimed as he reached up to take the cloak in his hands looking at it intensely. "Hey, don't touch that!" Shouted one of the police officers, who stood up and moved over toward the pair. "Look, we really appreciate your help against those guys, but handling that could contaminate the evidence more than it might already have been" He added, indicating the cloak.

GM Over to the west of where the metal barricade had once stood, Aquarius steadied himself after being knocked for a loop by Gaian Knight's attack. The brass masked villain regarded the hero and the massive dragon nearby for a moment. "It appears this battle no longer has a purpose. Perhaps our path shall cross once more." He waved his hands and Tiamat caught a strong whiff of magic as fog began swirling around them all, spreading out to cover the entire town. <"It has been regrettable battling you magnificent one."> Tiamat heard Aquarius say from inside the thick fog. <"I would hope that next time we meet it could be under different circumstances."> The voice was then lost in the fog as it continued to swirl around, and soon everyone found themselves barely able to see a foot beyond their immediate area.
