Velocity was a bit surprised as only a half dozen gorillas appeared, as opposed to the army Deadalus had predicted. But she stayed alert, focusing her attention on the silverback that came loping over to approach her. She took a half step forward as he addressed her and replied. "Greetings Lord Harridan, I am Velocity, a member of the Freedom League. Your captured citizen, Gargantua is well and safe inside, having been freed from his imprisonment by criminal humans. We had only just established a means of communicating with him before you arrival." As Edge spoke up beside her, the speedster was wondering the same thing. Either the matter transport they were using was extremely inefficient, or there were more out there, using some sort of invisibility. This would hardly be the first time Velocity had encountered invisible opponents, so she let herself begin operating at full speed, taking fractions of a second to carefully review the constant stream of images her goggles were providing from around her. In particular, the speedster was looking for any sign of dust or dirt being kicked up, grass being trampled, or any other indication there were numerous invisible gorillas out there.

Just so no one goes crazy trying to look it up, Fairview is a fictional town (well, if there is a Fairview in Pennsylvania, I was not aware of it). Gabe is able to find that it is a small rural farming town with a population of a bit over 800. It is at the intersection of two rural highways, with a few smaller roads leading out. From what he can pull up, there are maybe 140-150 buildings in the town, over 80% of which are houses.

GM With Gabriel's acknowledgement, the major wasted no time in detailing the situation. "Just under ten minutes ago, a convoy of four Humvees carrying sixteen armed soldiers was transporting two items from a testing lab in Pittsburgh back to a storage facility on Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County Virginia. They have made the run a number of times in the past, usually only takes about three and a half hours, but this time they ran into a problem." "The convoy was traveling along Interstate 70, just past the intersection with Highway 220, when it came under attack from about half a dozen super-beings. We received a distress call, but since then there has been no contact. Based on GPS tracking, we know three of the Humvees are still at the ambush site, but we cannot determine any other information at this time. The fourth Humvee has left the Interstate, and moved into the nearby town of Fairview, which is about seventeen miles north of the Interstate. For the moment it is stationary." "Not long after that Humvee entered Fairview, a massive storm cloud formed over the town out of nowhere, blocking any satellite imagery. The two has a small sheriff’s department, a sheriff and four deputies. Three minutes ago, there was a report from the sheriff that the town was being hit by lightning bolts from the storm cloud, then all cellular and telephone communications went dead." "We have a helicopter response team inbound, but they are still ten or more minutes away, and are unlikely to be able to approach Fairview with that storm cloud overhead. An AEGIS team is on the way from Pittsburgh, but they are still a good thirty to forty minutes away from the ambush site."

Okay, IC thread is up I am going to say that Velocity is listed as available to be called for any alerts, though she is off in England. Of course, that hardly means it will take her long to get back to FC and where she needs to go. I will leave it to Electra and Fox to determine where Fleur and Gaian/Tiamat are, although, might be helpful if both were off in Sanctuary, so it would not take long for Fleur to dimension portal them all back to Earth Prime. Totally up to you two.

GM Freedom Hall, City Center Freedom City, New Jersey Wednesday August 6, 2014; 5: 35 PM The late afternoon was a rather typical weekday in Freedom City, although the rush hour traffic was a touch lighter than normal, as vacations had helped cut back on the numbers of office workers starting their way home after a long day. The heat of the day was passed, but the air was still heavy with the humidity so common at this time of the summer. In the heart of the City Center, just a few blocks west of Centennial Circle, traffic made its way slowly past the slightly pyramid shaped form of Freedom Hall. Set off from the sidewalk and behind a seven foot walls, the headquarters of the Freedom League was a familiar sight to those that lived and worked in this part of the city, to the point that most hardly noted it as they made their way past. Today found the interior of Freedom Hall more deserted than typical. Of course, "Cynthia," the League's robotic receptionist, was present in the lobby, as was always the case. The only other two occupants were in very different parts of the building. Comrade Frost was up on the rooftop landing pad of the building, lying back in a deck chair with a sun tanning reflector, enjoying the last bit of sunshine before the sun passed too far to the west. Gabriel was in the Hall's monitor room, keeping an eye on the mostly quiet communications while he worked on the lesson plan for the class he would be teaching in the fall. However, his concentration was interrupted as a voice came over the AEGIS/US Government frequency. "This is Major Ellis, United States Army, with a priority alert. We are in need of the League's assistance, please respond."

Okay, we have our thread here. So, as is suggested, all the award recipients (Graft (in civilian ID); Riftfand Titan (in hero ID) have been offered limo transportation to the event. I assume Asad will arrive in his own ride. Also, for those that wish, some Kn: Business or Current Events or Gather Information rolls are likely appropriate, to determine what each of you might know/have uncovered regarding the event, the sponsors, etc. TA, I will be shooting you a PM, as Asad is in a unique position to know a fair bit about the other sponsors, and could know even more with a good roll!

North Bay, Freedom City Saturday August 4, 2014; 3:51 PM "This is Nancy Norrington for Channel 3, WNTW, reporting from the North Bay Yacht Club where in a short while, the Fourth Annual Inspiration Celebration will be kicking off. Started four years ago by Topple Enterprises CEO Andrew Topple, the Inspiration Celebration recognizes several individuals who have made inspiring contributions in a wide variety of fields, from literature to the sciences to even just everyday heroics." "This year's event is being held on Topple's one hundred and forty foot luxury yacht, the Reble, which you can see behind me. It is being co-sponsored by multi-billionaire businessman and philanthropist Amir al-Misri and Knute Smith, the CEO of Forge Motors. Some of the recipients of awards this year include author Robert Cross, for his book 'Beyond Human;' Doctor Tyrone Mendoza, for his work in the Mendoza Free Clinic in the Fens; musician Warren Wilder, also known as the superhero Riff, for his recent album; and Sophia Nelson, the homeless teenager who saved a family of six from a house fire back in late June, despite suffering injuries in the process. Another recipient will be a hero who recently made his appearance in Freedom City, Titan." "And here we go, the first limousine is pulling up now, so we shall soon see who is arriving first...."

Dee started off after Erick as he lead the way towards the old, slightly crumbling building. As they went, she looked about for any signs of security systems. They had gotten about halfway towards the outer walls when the young woman spotted a sign of some motion sensors. Hold on. She mentally spoke to Erick, gently grabbing his arm as well. There are motion sensors ahead. Studying the area a bit more, Dee figure a way they could approach one of the sensors so they could be masked by some old shipping crates stacked nearby. This allowed the Englishwoman to get close enough that she was able to use the tools she had taken from K to disable the sensor, without it being apparent that the loop had been disrupted. Soon, the pair were past the sensors, and over to the walls of the building.

"Well, I am not counting on any security systems being non-functional." Dee replied as she took a small selection of screwdrivers, an adjustable wrench and a pair of wire cutters. "And even if there are defunct systems, I completely expect them to be camouflage for actual working systems." With that, she moved back over to Erick. "Of course, it is entirely possible that the Sleeper has other means of keeping an eye on things, and may well know we are here already." She added in a low voice so that K could not hear. Then, a bit louder, she added, "well, ready to go see about breaking into this low rent Fort Knox?"

Unfortunately I did not have a "lock" on Blonsky before he was pulled into the sports car. Dee "replied" back to Erick's question. Without being able to see the person who's mind I am trying to get into, I cannot connect. "Well, looks like we get to do this the old fashion way." She commented aloud as she climbed out of the UAZ 469B, leaving the keys in for K should they need to make a quick withdrawal. Glancing at Erick once he was out of the jeep as well, she added, "so, how do you want to do this? Probably a pretty good chance there are security systems. But, if we can find them, I should be able to deal with them." At that thought, she looked back in the still open door to K as she asked. "There any tools in the back? We might need some."

Okay, moving us forward. Will give everyone a chance for one more post for the first night before I move us on to the morning!
-
GM Lord Zandar, Lady Korzeel and the other gathered members of the tribe (although several needed the assistance of a translator) were all gracious hosts, making sure to engage in conversation with all of the Claremont students during the meal, answering questions about the various dishes and otherwise talking about day-to-day life in the Lost World (which tended to sound anything but routine). They also asked questions to learn a bit about each of the teens as well. The Jungle Lord gave a friendly laugh at Cho's question about gift shops, confirming that there were no gift shops (least in the manner the powerful teenager was thinking), but that there would likely be opportunities for them to find some small souvenirs to take back with them and that he and Lady Korzeel would be sure to present each with a few items made by his people at the end of the trip. The feast lasted a couple of hours, everyone having more than enough opportunity to eat their fill while responding to questions or asking ones of their own. The torches around the tables were starting to burn dim when Lord Zandar stood up and a silence fell over those gathered. "While I am certain we could continue our conversations well into the night, it is time for us to allow our guests to get some much needed rest. We will be starting early in the morning, as we have some distance to cover tomorrow, so I would advise each of you to rest up." With that the feast ended, the assembled wishing their guests a good night before heading to their own sleeping areas as well. The Claremont teens said good night to their hosts and made their way back to the platform where the small huts set up for them were located and prepared to go to sleep.

"Well, luckily for you my idea of a good time tends to be rather different than most." Dee responded back to Erick with a small grin. But she wasted little time getting up and moving towards the somewhat beat up UAZ 469B that K had driven them all to the warehouse are in. As they approached, the Englishwoman moved towards the driver's side, holding out one hand to K. "How about I drive?" She said. "Just in case we are spotted and this becomes even more exciting." Dee really hoped they would not have any problems in following the Doctor and Blonsky to the Sleeper. It would be nice to try to wrap this all up at once, although she did not hold any illusions that it would be easy.

Okay, finally a post for me (and will be working on a GM post today as well). Sorry it has been so long without anything from me, been a bit of a crazy summer. I do very much want to continue the thread, as I believe I have some interesting things in store for our characters. Will try to move the feast forward quickly, but was wanting to know how you all want to proceed in the short term. 1) I can just get us to the next morning and setting out to explore more of the Lost World, or 2) Before that, we could have a small scene around a campfire near where we are sleeping to give the characters a chance to interact and get to know each other more? So, thoughts?

Like Sam, Giang had been raised with very formal manners, so even though she already knew Lady Korzeel, she still bowed in greeting to the Jungle Lord's wife as the Claremont teens arrived at the feast. As everyone began taking their seats, the Asian teen ended up seated between Juno and Kzara. Having grown up in Southeast Asia, Giang was accustomed to more unusual foods (from the viewpoint of the average American teenager), and after spending a few weeks living on the streets in Hong Kong and Singapore, whatever remaining aversions she had to trying new things were gone, so she also tried a wide sampling of the food laid out on the table. She was able to handle the more spicy foods with relative ease, and spoke with their hosts through the meal, telling them a bit about the year since her last visit, as well as what was going on with the other three Claremont students who had been on that last trip.

I am still interested Heritage, just did not want to jump in too soon and interrupt the current interactions.

Giang felt a slight tinge of embarrassment at the announcement of the group's intention of taking a tour of Neptune City, but did her best to not let it show, understanding the formalities that were involved. As the group swam out of the reception, she gave her roommate for the last year and a half a warm smile at the mention of how well she was doing with her Atlantean. "I had a very good teacher." The Asian teen replied. "Although I likely had something of an advantage, being raised bi-lingual from a very young age."

Giang lowered her hands once the patchwork repair was in place, her power focused on maintaining the seal. She looked over as Temperance managed to release Thaelia and Wave-Eye, with Thaelia quickly rescuing the lounge singer. "We should hurry." The Asian teen commented to her companions. "I cannot guarantee how long my repair will hold, and if Blood holds true to his thread, it may not matter if he starts creating additional damage." Turning to Sammy, she added, "tell the Captain to get the passengers near the life boats, to be ready should Blood cause more damage to the ship."

Dee watched the arrival of the Doctor through a pair of binoculars beside the other two, letting out a low whistle. "He certainly is impressive." She responded. "And Blonsky did say that he had somehow received a perfected version of the serum they have been giving the athletes." She was considering Erick's question on whether to follow or move on the pair now when the Doctor grabbed Blonsky and admonished him, mentioning taking him to the Sleeper. "Well, I suppose that depends if we want to be sure to follow this as deeply as possible, or potentially settle for just the Doctor." She replied.

Giang looked out at the geyser that was spraying into the air from the damaged hydrant and reached out with one open hand. The water in the air froze as she took control of it. She then slowly closed her hand as she turned the water back inward against the water pressure and back into the water pipes. Once the water was contained once more, she turned a section over the pipe up to the hydrant into "solid" water, effectively capping the hydrant. The Asian teen then turned to look back to her companions as Thoughtspeed moved to check on the condition of the pilot of the mecha. "A well conceived plan TNTeen." She commented. "For now, in addition to checking on the pilot, we should secure the area until the authorities arrive, particularly the vault that was the intended target."
