  1. Synapse will go full speed (she is a bit of an adrenaline junkie), she gets a 28 on her drive roll! In addition to taking a full action to put up her forcefield, she will send a mental blast (putting her reserve toward that power) at one of the goons (perception range, so DC 23 Will save vs the blast).
  2. Tril, thanks for the changes. Quite a few things look fixed, but still a couple of small things. First, you might want to note that your grapple can go up to +15 when you use the array slot with elongation and the grapple limited superstrength. Second, some good news, you dropped your Man Made Whole container to 25 points, but still list it as costing 30. So, you actually have 5 unspent points, which is good, as… I am a bit concerned about one of new disadvantages you added, the Weakness to lack of sunlight. I think this will prove to be something of a major headache for you and any GM, particularly when an adventure might last into night. You could easily find yourself at -10 or more on rolls depending on the time, so I am not sure this is something you are going to want to have in place. As you have some unspent points anyway, maybe just drop this altogether? I do like how you handle the one arm/one eye disability here better than it was before. Also, I am not sure about your comment about initiative not being an issue after the first round, as initiative remains for each consecutive round of combat, but no big deal there. So, just need to make a few small changes.

Okay, as mentioned in chat, Velocity is stunting off her superspeed area: Deflect 17 (Extra: Area (85’ radius); Feat: Precise) for 35 pp of the available 38. Her roll for the Deflect is: 35!

    Extracurriculars

Giang Trang was making her way through the relatively quiet Claremont Campus. The Asian teen was looking about the area with a slightly melancholy look on her face as she went. She was going to be graduating in a couple of weeks and this place had been something of a sanctuary for her, helping to protect her from the agents sent by her father or other of Dr. Sin's lieutenants to look for her. But more than just that, Claremont had provided her the opportunity to be around others her own age, and she had made several close friendships in the year and a half she had been here. Though she planned to keep in touch with many of those friends, she was still going to miss the more regular interaction that the school had provided. It was then that she someone calling out to her from across the lawn, spotting William Kline next to another teenager who was only wearing what looked like a white skirt with red patterns and sandals. Giang noted that William was in his costume. Approaching the pair, Giang studied the other teen calmly for a moment before looking to William. "Good morning William. Who is this?"

Velocity took in the scene in the blink of an eye, already noting what all was going on around her by the time the gathered crowd had spotted here. Flashing a wide smile, she gave a small wave. "Good day everyone, just stay back, this should only take a moment." She said, before she was moving again in a blur of yellow. A fraction of a second later, she had run up the tree and out onto the branch, reaching down to slow and carefully (something she was still able to do faster than most people could even see) get the cat free from its grip on the tree. The speedster had had her fair share of helping cats in trees, and in particular one specific cat in Kingston back during her High School years, so she was familiar with how to go about this (and very mindful that the cat’s first instinct once it realized it was no longer gripping the tree would be to try and grip whatever else it could, such as her arm!)
  7. Dee was not particularly surprised by the paramedic's reaction when she had lead Erick over to one of the emergency snowmobiles and asked to borrow it. But, her bother's life, along with the lives of other competitors in the race, was on the line, and she was starting to get a bit annoyed with this Russian conspiracy. So, the Englishwoman reached out with her mind, seizing control of the man's mind. <"Come now, I know you can spare one of these."> She said in flawless Russian, and the man nodded in agreement, mentioning that there was one he could spare as he gave Dee the keys. Straddling the vehicle, Dee nodded behind her as she looked over at Erick. "Get on, and be sure to yell when you spot the area we need to get to." She said. As soon as Erick was behind her, she revved the vehicle's engine, and shot off down the course.
  8. Okay Tril, as promised, here are some comments. First, on the fluff: For one thing, I would change the group that approached him to being some front company for the Labyrinth, as opposed to the Labyrinth directly (their whole point is operating in secret behind all sorts of shadowy front companies and proxies). You can certainly mention it was a Labyrinth front company. Also, I would drop the bit about the Labyrinth front company trying to dispose of him because it wanted to avoid lawsuits and likely just trying to dispose of him because the process failed. Now, regarding Cletus joining Claremont Academy, Claremont is a high school, so he is too old to be a student there now. In addition, the administrators at Claremont do not run around wiping people’s memories and implanting new ones. So, to the crunch: One thing I note is there are some instances of the power point totals not adding up right. Stats are somewhat on the lowish side, but, there is a reason for that, and the character does have the ability increase several (particularly the ones with the negative bonus), so that is all good. Power points add up correctly as well. Combat: So, there are some problems here. First, Initiative would be -1/+4, depending on what your Dex currently is. Second, there is a problem with Defense, at the top you only spend 8 pp for defense (which would be +4) and I see no Dodge Focus feat, so I do not see how you have a +6 defense. Also, with only a +4 defense, your flat-footed defense would be +2. This being the case, you defense and toughness are a fair bit below the PL 7 caps, something we strongly discourage. Knockback should be -2/-3 (as it is half your toughness, rounded down). Saving throws look fine and the point totals are good. Skills: point total seems good, one thing tough, we really do not use the profession skill, so would likely be best to drop that and use the points for something else (like possibly raising your defense or some other issues) Feats all seem good as well, though I wonder if a few more of these should perhaps be part of the container? (that is feats he is not always able to do?) Your choice really. One feat I have a question on is Quick Change, how do you see his powers helping him change into and out of costume quickly? (It might be helpful to note that we have a house rule that allow players to change into costume a full round action, as opposed to taking 10 rounds) Powers: For the Man Made Whole container, you should note that it is Active, as opposed to Passive (at least I assume it is Active, which means it (and all the powers in the container) can be turned on and off, where Passive means they are always on (unless negated), and from how you describe things, it sounds like an Active container, which takes a Fee Action to turn on). The Cost for Nature Wrath is wrong. You have a 12 point array, with 5 Alternate Powers, that costs 17 pp, so you have underspent by 6. There are a few issues with some of the alternate powers as well. First, the Bulldozer slot, how exactly do you see this working and why is it a cone area? In addition, you have bought damage with the mighty feat, which is already a touch attack, so the Flaw: Range [Touch] does not apply as it is already present. There is an additional problem in that using the Mighty feat, you need to apply the Area extra to the strength bonus as well as the base damage (otherwise you are getting a lot of damage at half the cost). Thus, having the power be Damage 3 with Might (+4 from enhanced Str) and Cone Area costs 11 pp (that is before any of the other feats you have listed, let alone the Selective Extra). (You also do not need the Accurate feat, as it is built as a melee power, not a ranged power and you are already at the PL cap for Melee attack bonus and damage). The Trip Whip: For one, the effect is a bit low, so you might want to consider that. As above, you have the Cone Area wrong, with 5 Progression, it would actually be a 1,500 foot cone, which seems a bit extreme. But, more to the point, this is priced wrong. Trip 3 is a range attack, costing 6 pp for the ranks. You reduce this to 3 with the Flaw: Tough Range, but then you add the Area and Selective extras, bringing the costs back up to 9 pp, then you want to add 6 extras, making the total costs 16 pp. Sproing: This slot is fine price wise and such, only, given what you talked about wanting to do with it in chat (ie grappling someone and possibly moving them around), it might not be as effective as you want, as your grapple modifier is not boosted, and you are limited to your carrying capacity as to how much you can move (Str 18 is good, but not anywhere near superstrong) One last thing, you need to remove the vulnerability to fire from the sheet for now, as you do not have it yet.
  9. Okay, Synapse will use mind control. She gets a 21 on her drive roll (she will suggest Erick hop on).
  10. Don't worry, despite what the tabloids might seem to imply, I tend to be rather discrete. Dee mentally replied to Erick, slightly surprised to learn that the Olympic level gymnast was also the current Foreshadow, although she realized that should probably not be too great a surprise. But before she could fill him in on what she had managed to learn, Erick seemed to tense slightly, his eyes taking something of a faraway look, then he sent the Russian police officer away and "told" her that her brother was still not out of harm's way. The Englishwoman felt a chill run down her spin. This was just what she had been afraid of when the race started up once more. When I went digging in Nevsky's head, I learned that Blonsky is acting at the direction of someone he called the Dcotor, and there is someone else, the Sleeper, that is also working to pull of this Russian sweep of metals, and they are not afraid to eliminate people like my brother that are speaking out. Dee frowned slightly at the thought about how to try to get ahead of the skiers as she began to glance around. I do not have any particular means to get us out ahead on the course, but perhaps we can scrounge something up? She was hoping there might be something they could use, like a snowmobile...
  11. Giang watched as the other three leapt into action, Temperance cutting down the numbers of skeleton pirates, which Wave-Eye and Thaelia both moved in to try to draw some of Captain Blood's focus. But then the ghostly pirate made his speech and the barnacle column in the room erupted, reveling three former passengers that had been somehow altered by whatever power Blood was bragging about. She knew she could not allow Blood to do that to any of the other passengers or crew. Taking a deep breath, the Asian teen focused herself as she took a step forward. "We shall see about that villain." She stated aloud as she brought her hands up to her side before bringing them together palm-to-palm in front of her. As she did, a ripple effect emanated from her, like a still body of water disturbed by something breaking its surface. The ripple effect passed over everyone, and everything in the room, continuing through the walls to the rest of the ship and the sea several hundred feet beyond. The other gathered heroes could briefly feel the effect wash over them, though Giang had excluded them from its effects. However, all the passengers and crew in the room, along with Captain Blood himself, his skeletons and one of the barnacle covered passengers were all effected, seeming to freeze in place as the effect passed over them. Everything else in the room stopped as well, suspended where it was, splinters and pieces of the table Thaelia had smashed ceased to fall, hanging in the air where they were. Curtains and table cloths, disrupted by gusts of air caused by the sudden appearance of the heroes or the water from Temperance's attack, froze where they were as well, hanging in the air instead of settling back into place. Only two of the barnacle covered passengers managed to resist Giang's control over time, remaining active, and still very much a threat.
  12. Okay, Tsunami is going to stunt an alternate version of her Time Stop power, using 4 free pp (it should cost 28 pp, not 27) to add Progression 4, making the radius of the area effect 500'. She will only leave the other heroes out of the effect, which means all the bad guys and the passengers/crew need to make a DC 14 Reflex save or be frozen in time (which means for one they can no longer be effected by what is going on for those of us acting normally, which will help protect any passengers/crew not already hurt/contaminated).
  13. So, the barnacles are the passengers effected by the weird barnacle column?
  14. GM "That is how Tess Atom once explained them to me." Zandar replied to Gene's question about the crystals. He then turned to regard Juno when she asked about possibly getting some as a souvenir. "When my people collect or work with the crystals, there are often small shards that result. Not quite as useful as the larger rocks, some of those shards can still give off a fair amount of illumination, and are certainly something that would make a good souvenir." After answering the teens' questions, the jungle lord stepped forward slightly and looked up into the dark shadows above. "I HAVE RETURNED WITH OUR GUESTS! LET US WELCOME THEM!" He shouted out, and almost immediately, dim lights appeared in the darkness below, growing every brighter as they descended down toward the group. Soon enough the gathered Claremont students could see it was more of the glowing crystals, affixed to what could only be described as a primitive elevator, a small wooden platform with railings and a canopy, lowered down by several handmade ropes. There was enough room for the entire group, and soon they were rising up into the dark shadows of the upper jungle canopy. Then, almost suddenly, they passed through the darkness, and into the bright blue sky once more and the sound of dozens of voices cheering erupted around them. It took a few brief moments for their eyes to adjust back to the bright light, and then the teenagers saw they were at a large wooden platform set atop thick branches of the massive tree, up above the thick upper canopy of the jungle. Dozens of people, dressed in animal skins similar to Zandar and Kzara were gathered on the platform, warm smiles on their faces as they greeted the teens. They welcomed the group with warm hugs, most speaking in a language that the teens could not understand, though a few spoke English as well. Even with the throng of people around them, the Claremont students were able to see that there were a number of other similar platforms around them, some on the same tree, others on nearby trees, all attached by various walkways and bridges. Small dwellings were part of the platforms, built out of wood, straw, and in some cases massive sun bleached bones that could only be from dinosaurs. After a few minutes, Zandar moved back to the group, his people moving out of his way as he gestured towards one of the walkways leading to platforms on another tree. "Come my friends, let me show you to your quarters for the evening, then you have a few hours in which to rest and explore before the welcoming feast tonight!"
  15. No, they are not. But thanks for reminding me of Sam's ability to detect magic!
  16. APPROVED!
  17. Yeah, I totally get the comic book "science" of how your character works, and that is all fine. As mentioned, my main issue was you basically had devices that could not be taken away and where always there. But you have addressed that, so no worries. So, a couple of other things relevant to your changes. So for your device (or devices really), I agree that much of it should be subtle, but I am not sure the pocket watch or the thrown playing cards really are. Also, you may want to look at our new house rule regarding Multiple Weapons for devices (which can easily be described as multiple devices). This house rule would make each power slot a separate device (which I believe they basically are) so that one could be damaged/taken away, and you still would be able to use all the others. Might be something to consider. For the Mind Control, now that it is a device, the Innate feat does not really apply anymore. Also, your explanation regarding the stage hypnosis trick makes sense to me, if you wanted to stick with Sustained, I would likely be willing to approve it and will see what some other refs think on it. Also, I am not sure how well Subtle plays into what is going on here, as you are holding up a pocket watch and trying to hypnotize the target, seems like something the target and anyone else around would see. For the Move Object, I am not sure having Damaging is something you want to do. As an extra, it always applies when you use the power, so you would not be able to move things without them having to make a toughness save to avoid being damaged. For the Mind Reading, I get what your wanting to do. One way would be a feature for the card trick, but I think you could arguably have a greater ability to read people than just being able to perform the card trick. So what you have seems fine with me. I believe your right regarding the Concealment/disappearing act power, though it probably should read Only affects others/objects. One additional thing, there are some formatting issues with the sheet (your most recent edit seems to have shrunk the font). Could you please correct the font size (and also the font itself, it is a bit odd). Also, would be helpful if you could try removing the indentions that you have currently. (I can then go help add [array] and [device] tabs for you to bring it to our current formatting standards). Thanks
  18. PRESTO! Very neat character concept Tsura, looks like she could be a lot of fun to play! As I said in chat, there are a few concerns I have with how you have mechanically sought to make a very interesting concept/theme. First, a few minor crunch issues: Her initiative should be +4, not +3. I would caution about relying so much of Defensive Roll for your Toughness save (as a good feint/acrobatic bluff is going to rob you of all that as well as much of your Defense), but there is nothing to say you cannot do what you have. Her Stealth should be +12 with Dex, not +13. So, one of the big questions/concerns I have relates to the Art of Illusion array. Again to reiterate, I think the character concept is a very interesting one. I just am a bit concerned that you have stated she has not true superpowers, but mimics them through stagecraft/props, but mechanically, you have built a character that "does" have superpowers (I know this might sound a bit odd). Having things such as the ensnaring chains, wires and pulleys, etc, is neat, the only issue I see, is how does she always have them on hand, anywhere she goes, all the time? How is it the equipment that she uses to produce the pyrotechnic display (the Dazzle) can never be taken away, at least till she can go get more supplies? Same with her razor cards? How does she always have the mirrors on hand to produce her illusions? Some of this can be potentially explained, perhaps she can work her illusions with any reflective surfaces on hand (modern cities often have a lot of that readily available, but there would likely be at least some instances where she have what she needs to pull it off). Some of this issue could be handled with appropriate power loss drawbacks or complications. Or it might be appropriate to have some of these powers as a device(s). Some individual issues for various power slots: Illusion slot: One small question, if this is based just on "smoke and mirrors," how is it also auditory? Mind Control Slot: Having PCs with Sustained mind control is something we shy away from. Is there a reasons for the sustained? How did you see it working? Damage Slot: Is there a reason it is not just Blast? (I know, effect is the same, but still). But, more importantly, Homing 3 - I have a bit of an issue with thrown playing cards that get 5 extra chances to hit when they miss when there is no actual superpower involved (I would actually have a bit of an issue with that much homing on a superpowered PC as well really). Being very skilled at throwing things is one thing, but this seems excessive. I would suggest no more than 1 rank of Homing, or, dropping Homing altogether and buying a couple of ranks of Ricochet and maybe Precise (to reduce penalties for throwing into melee, or when a bad guy has a hold of a hostage). Move Object slot: As noted initially, how does she always have the wire/pulley system to move 12 tons (or pull 60 tons)? I also question why this power is perception ranged. In a world with superspeedsters, and skilled martial artists (and other hard to hit/track targets), how is it she never misses when trying to snag one of them with these wires? Snare slot: Other than the issue of why these can never be taken away discussed initially, why do the chains obscure vision? If feels like something tacked on to just use up all the points in the array, which you do not have to do in every slot. The Prestidigitation array: there are a few small things here. Insubstantial slot: This is fine, though I would point out one limitation on it, per our house rules, if you were to try to use it to escape from a grapple, you must make a DC 20 Concentration check to be able to do so. Mind Reading slot: While I understand the idea behind this, there is a difference between being able to note when someone is nervous or being dishonest, etc, vs knowing exactly what their surface thoughts are. Ex: as it is now, being able to know that a guy your talking to in a dark alley next to a car is nervous because he is thinking about the dead body in the trunk of the car vs. being able to note the guy is nervous about something and glancing at the trunk of the car. But, perhaps this is a situation where the GM should try to make the use of this in-game be more like the later? Dimensional Pocket: I think this is another place where you have taken a non-powered character and given them a power. I get the concept of what you are trying to do here, I just think mechanically it is becoming something different. This allows your Str 10 character to be able to "hide away" 2,500 lbs worth of stuff, to be "reveled" somewhere else. Perhaps mechanically this might work better as a concealment useable on others/objects, then using you Move Object in the other array to move the object/person away? That way your character would still be able to make a car/elephant disappear. That is about it.

Megan listened closely as Bonham began explaining a bit about this "Church of the Neverending," not particularly liking what she was hearing. She was particularly bothered by the report that they might be getting a hold of a dirty bomb. But before Bonham could finish with his briefing, he was interrupted by his phone. Like most heroes that had operated in Freedom City for any significant amount of time, Megan had had a few run ins with Captain "Bulldog" Maddicks, which could often been tense given his gruff nature and desire to be in charge of situations involving superpowered villains. But the speedster could not help but smile slightly when Bonham hung up and explained what the call had been about. "Here I thought cats in trees was more a fire department issue." She stated with a grin. "I also thought I had pretty much moved past cats in trees once I graduated high school. BUT, I suppose I can take care of this for you. Shouldn't take more than a moment."
  20. GM Zandar and Kazra had watched as the superteens each made their way across the chasm by various methods, a smile coming to the Jungle Lord's face as he watched, particularly when Sam teleported back to the opposite platform to swing across a second time. When Cho came leaping over to land hard and tumble a bit out of control, Zandar had smoothly stepped and out of her path. As Cho indicated she was alright and Giang swung over to join the group, Zandar gave a loud laugh. "Well done, well done indeed. Now, let us be on our way once more, we are almost to our destination for tonight." With that, he started off once more along the suspended walkway path. Kazra and Giang stayed behind a short while so that the jungle girl could swing back across taking a few of the vines the group had used with her to return them to the opposite platform. But it was not long before the pair caught back up with the rest of the group. A little over a half an hour later, the group came to a section of the jungle where the trees grew even closer together and the leave canopy above was even thicker, plunging the area around them into even darker shadows. Attached to the rope bridges and platforms here were short pole atop which were affixed phosphorescent rocks, which provided a dull green glow that illuminated the path. They had only been in the darker section of the jungle a short while when they reached another platform that lacked an attached rope bridge. This time however, there were no vines along the railings from which to swing with.
  21. Giang watched as her fellow students made their way across by various methods, which included Sam swing across, then teleport back so she could do so again. Once the others were all across, the Asian teen stepped up to the edge of the platform. While she could easily raise up water and create a bridge she could walk across, Giang was not one to shy away from physical challenges. So, with a vine in hand, she swung across the chasm, although she did so without the audio embellishment Sam and Gene had added. Reaching the other side, she landed nimbly on the opposite platform, the vine still in one hand. Glancing over to Cho, she then gave a small nod as the other teen stated she was alright after her somewhat dramatic landing.

    Go-Time(IC)

Today had begun the same as most days did for Megan Howell over the last six months: waking up early to get Lawrence off to the Nicholson School, and then either spending time at the dance studio, having some free time with Robert, zipping around the city and the Eastern seaboard as Velocity to battle supercriminals, or some combination of all three. Today she had only spent time at the dance studio before coming to this lunchtime coffee meeting with Bonham. The carefree behavior of AEGIS Chief Administrator in Freedom City did not phase Megan, as she had known him for several years now. Years ago, when she had still been in high school and just starting out as Velocity, it would have been fair to say Megan had a bit of a crush on Bonham. But that was long behind her now, especially when one counted the six "years" she and Robert had spent outside the normal flow of time raising Lawrence before they brought him back into the normal timestream. "Oh, I get plenty of opportunity to see the people I am helping." The speedster replied with a grin to Bonham's comment about getting some perspective. "After all, I can run down to Miami and back before your coffee gets a degree colder." She then got a bit more serious as Bonham got to the point of this coffee meeting. "I'd say that cults are not exactly my area of expertise, but that I would be willing to help however you think I could."
  23. "Yes, that is my brother." Dee replied, almost absentmindedly as she watched Edward move back to the starting line for a brief moment before she began scanning the area around them, looking for Blonsky or anyone else that might seem suspicious. She then glanced back at the Russian police officer as he began to try to guide her to where she could meet Foreshadow. "Yes, that is certainly something worth avoiding." She commented when he mimed being shot in the head. While her feeling of paranoia was heightened at the moment, she recalled this man being attacked by two Russian athletes at the hotel, so, for the moment, was willing to take his word at face value. So she began to follow after him.
  24. Velocity (6) (6) Tsunami (8) (3) (2) (3) Synapse (14) (2) (12) GM (3) (3) (okay, so Ref point to Velocity for reward credit, then rollover to Tsunami. 1 GM post to Synapse, then others to Tsunami, along with Velocity's rollover posts)
  25. Dee glanced around at the scene for a few moments, noting the destruction that had been caused by the out of control members of the community. This was certainly something they should try to avoid happening again. She then sent a mental message to Angus. Okay, time for me to go and draw some attention so you can see what you might be able to discretely learn. With that, the costumed heroine moved over towards the two police officers and the crowd of travellers they were interviewing. "Morning, I am Synapse, from the Ministry of Powers. What have you been able to learn thus far?"
