Dee withdrew from the official's mind, not finding anything to suggest the man had immediate knowledge of the assassination attempt on her brother. Just as she did, the Russian that she had seen at the hotel the day before came up to her and her brother and started blathering about being sent by a mutual friend to warm Edward that there would be an assassination attempt. While it was something of a relief to the young Englishwoman to realize that Foreshadow was out there somewhere looking into this, it also heightened her sense of paranoia that perhaps she had not been able to prevent the attempt on her brother's life after all. Glancing over at Edward, she spoke in a low voice. "If you are going to run the course Edward, please be careful. Don't forget last night, someone certainly has it out for you."

Dee regarded the guy in the tight shirt a brief moment, resisting the temptation to dive into his mind and see how hard he was willing to push his intentions. For the moment he was not being too aggressive, so she figured it would not hurt to dance with him. If nothing else, his presence could help discourage other guys from trying to come over. "How about we start with just keeping each other company and see how it goes from there." She replied. "And yes, I am from England and do currently live in London, just on a brief holiday here in the States."

That does hit Strand, but she gets a 25 on her toughness save. Also, as she was out in open air, and it took all Mess’ leaping to reach her, he is now falling towards the streets below.

"We have arrange for you to stay in a suite in the same building where Chase has his quarters." Crater replied to Georgia's question. "Each of you have your own room, which all share a central common room." As the group walked along the walkways, they began to pass more Farside City residents, who were all tall and thin like Crater and Councilwoman Rulana. The group of teens certainly attracted some looks, but most seemed polite enough not to stare, and all seemed familiar with Chase. They passed a number of small gardens, even an area which looked like a small park, along with a number of small shops along the walkway and the upper floors of several of the tall buildings. Chase shook his head in response to William's question, "no, there will certainly be some chances for you all to have some time to explore and look around on your own. Just want to be sure we get you all oriented some before we let you loose."

Dee focused on the Russian official with a sly grin at his apologies. "Oh, I did not really mind at all." But even as she allowed her amusement in how well her little ploy had succeeded, she felt gnawing suspicion about how eager he seemed to get the race started once more. So she reached out with her telepathy toward the man's mind to see what she might be able to learn about who had ordered him to get the race back on track, wondering if Blonsky and whomever was pulling his strings hand managed to already put into play some sort of backup plan to Nevsky.

Dee glared at Cruxberry for a few moments as she replied, "would it really be you that would be displeased, or my father?" But she did not give him a chance to respond before continuing, "but regardless of the answer, you are lucky I would hate to give Bunting any sort of major scoop about anything." She then looked over at Angus as she nodded. "That sounds best. I doubt the travelers would be any more willing to speak with Dee Farrington than they would with Synapse. So going in as Synapse and attracting any unwanted media attention could allow you a chance to learn something."

When Gene looked back at Giang, he found that the Asian teen still had the same calm, serene look she usually did, not appearing at all surprised or worried about the obstacle now facing them. "While trust and confidence building exercises certainly have their place, I believe this is just a case of the most direct route to our destination." She replied. "While I am certain our host would react to save you if you feel, not to mention one of use," she gestured to some of the other students, "I would suggest falling is something you likely would want to avoid today." Giang then turned to regard Cho as the other girl asked her questions. "Surviving the landing unharmed is one thing, you then would need to resist being pulled away by the current, something I could help prevent, and then climb back up out of the chasm. Though I could probably help speed that up as well. But any of that would cause at least some delay. I would say at least try to swing across in order to prevent any delay, and just worry about dealing with falling if that happens." She looked at the others. "You all should swing across first, I will follow last."

Okay, sorry about taking so long to get this going. Cape, I assume no hit roll is needed to hit the doors (or she can just take 10 and hit them). She will power attack, to make the DC 31 for the doors to resist the water blast.

The decision made to intervene in whatever was going on in the entertainment room, Tsunami prepared to create an entry for the group. While she might have wanted to consider a few more preparations, at least half of the gathered heroes seemed keen on moving into action. As shimmering sheen of water began to swirl around her, offering her protection from attacks as she focused on the doors to the room they group was near. Taking a slight step forward, the Asian teen brought both hands up as she thrust them forward, releasing a powerful jet of twisting coils of water towards the doors to try and blast them open.

Zandar glanced back at Cho as he continued to move along the walkways and rope bridges, giving the teen a small smile before he began to answer her question, his tone becoming rather serious. "The Serpent People are an ancient race of humanoid reptiles. On Earth, they once ruled an massive empire long before the first human civilizations arouse, and empire that ended in the same cataclysmic war which sunk Atlantis. Here they consist of a number of small tribes in the a few remote swamps and jungles, for the most part they are savage and barbaric. They possess a poisonous bite which reduces the willpower of victim. Occasionally more intelligent and cunning ones appear, who are able to shapeshift into other forms and even possess other arcane abilities." "It was several of those latter that had infiltrated the Roman and Incan cities, seeking to weaken and subvert them from with, but were rooted out by Giang and the others during their visit last year. Whether the tribes which reside here are native to this world, or refugees from the destruction of Lemuria is unknown." The Jungle Lord then looked over to Juno at her question. "Well, the various tribes suffered a significant defeat last year, primarily due to the actions of Giang and the others who were on the trip then, and are once again splintered. So while they might not represent a major threat at the moment, they still represent a possible danger, particularly in the areas near their lairs. But I have no plans to take us near any of those. Plenty of other wonders to see elsewhere." He then focuses back on Cho as he answers the teen's last question. "With Serpent People, Tyrannosaur, an array of other massive prehistoric apex predators, sabertooth cats and numerous other land, water or air based predators of all sizes, not to mention other hazards, the Lost World is indeed a dangerous place to live." Zandar states, before a small grin comes to his face. "But that is what makes it exciting." At that the Jungle Lord came to a halt, as the group came to a small platform overlooking a deep chasm that appeared a good hundred or so feet across. The jungle continued on the other side of the chasm, and the teens could see another platform on a tree on the opposite side. But there was no rope bridge between the two. At the bottom of the chasm, a narrow river rushed through the rocky walls, jagged rocks breaking the surface here and there. Zandar grabbed a vine that was secured to a railing near the edge of the platform and looked back at the teenagers. "Come now my friends, we are almost to the village we will be staying at tonight." He said before he stepped off the platform, launching out into the open space beyond. His weight pulled the vine taunt as he arched downward, swinging through the air before arching back upward toward the other side and coming back up smoothly on the platform on the other side. Kazra moved and selected another vine and soon and jumped off after her father, swinging toward the other platform as well.

So, we need to start to work on putting together the Haven as a headquarters for the new Vanguard, and possibly building VERA as well. What are some of the things we would want for the headquarters and for VERA? And, how many points do people plan to contribute? I have 9 unspent points for equipment/minion-sidekicks that I can contribute to the efforts.
-
Okay, so I can get this wrapped up, how did you all want to handle Diaz when you call the police to come and clear up all those unconscious mobsters and fighters?
-
Dee listened closely to the briefing from Cruxberry about the potential sighting of Lucy, though the young Englishwoman was looking a bit tired. Ever since they had gained access to the Haven, Dee had spent a good deal of her time down there, working on overriding systems and helping to keep VERA isolated as they worked on gaining control over her once more and rescinding Champion's final instructions to the AI. There were of course numerous Ministry specialists involved, but just as Jasmine had taken control over the Haven's medical bay, Dee had pretty much taken the same position regarding pretty much everything else in the Haven. All of that was not helped by the fact that Dee also tried to find time to stop by the Ministry to look over Headcase's notes regarding the psi initiative and the process he had put her and Susan through, looking for any sign of something that might provide an answer for her sister. Despite her misgivings on the issue, Dee, or Synapse as she was staring to call herself, had taken up the offer by Young Britannia to meet with a designer for a costume. Her costume was not nearly as flashy as Young Britannia's, instead consisting of a full body suit of medium grey and purple, with a mask that covered the upper part of her face (which she currently was not wearing). She still found the costume very uncomfortable, something she was not sure would ever change. She snatched the file on Lucy from Cruxberry's hand rather abruptly at the comment about "stopping anybody else going crazy," not really caring whether he had intentionally meant anything by that or not. She then glanced over at Angus, giving her an understanding look considering the circumstances surrounding the former Vanguard member that Angus knew so well. "Both could be equally obvious, depending on who else may be poking around the area looking to learn what might have happened." She replied, meaning of course tabloid reporters and the like. "As for getting answers, I think it might depend on how many tabloids those we talk to read."

"Well, that certainly was an interesting turn of events." Dee stated to her brother as he returned to the staging area after the Olympic officials had stopped the race, a small smile on her face. She still had Nevsky in her control, just to be sure he did not come back and try to carry out his orders by hand, waiting until security personnel restrained him. Not only had she learned a bit more about what was going on with the Russian athletes, but she had disrupted another assassination attempt on her brother by those behind the tampering. She had also done so in a manner that with a bit of luck would prove embarrassing to those behind the conspiracy, and possibly even make them worry whether similar such incident would occur with other enhanced athletes. Now she just needed to be sure Edward got someplace safe until his event was rescheduled and then find Foreshadow and let him know what she had learned.

Okay, going for Mind Control now. Synapse gets a 29 for her Power Check. She will have the Russian try to break or damage his rifle first, then he will break his skies, and then (assuming she is able to maintain control) she will have him start taking off his clothes and streak.

Finding about all she figured she would be able to, Dee withdrew from Nevsky's mind. Looking over at her brother, she was now even more concerned. "Be careful out there Edward." She said. "I rather doubt last night will be an isolated incident. Someone does not like the noise you made." Turning back away from her brother as he finished his preparation, the young woman decided that since whomever this sleeper and doctor were, they had gone too far in seeking to kill anyone who might in any way interfere with their plans. So, she was willing to intercede as well now, and do so in a way that might add a bit of embarrassment to the Russian team. Focusing on Nevsky once more, Dee reached out once more with her psychic powers. Only, this time she was not looking to read his thoughts, but trying to take control of his mind all together...

GM Kazra looked up at Gene as they moved at a good pace along the walkways and bridges. "Yes, there are a number of tribes living throughout the jungle that follow my father. Then there are the Romans in Nova Roma and the Incans in their mountain cities." The girl replied. "Didn't Giang tell you about any of this? We visited both Nova Roma and Viracochasuyu during her last visit." Zandar glanced back at Juno as she asked the question about warpaint, a small smile on his face. "Warpaint? The hunters occasionally use paint during their hunts, and some tribes still use it for certain ceremonies, but in terms of for warfare, such decoration is primarily used by the Serpent People."

Sorry, I thought I replied to this awhile ago. No, no rolls needed to keep leaping along to keep pace with Strand. (assuming you do not try to land on some narrow ledge or something along the way, but for the moment that should not be necessary)
