  1. Dee was hardly one to miss the sarcasm in Bob's response to her comment about a hospital, she was often quick to respond in kind. But in this case, that he was able to make witty comments and manage something of a smile was a positive sign. The Englishwoman then turned her attention to the approaching crowd of workers. The sudden change in location had already been an indication that somehow they had been transported somewhere else, but the appearance of the crowd and the foreman that stepped forward made her believe there was far more to it than just a change of location. Standing back up slowly as Singh drew a revolver on them, Dee held her hands out in front of her. "Easy Captain. We did not cause this explosion. In fact, we are not completely sure how we got here, as until a moment ago, we were in Dover. I go by Synapse, or at least I do when I am dressed like this." She stated, her crisp British accent hard to miss.
  2. Dee's attention had been quickly focused on the man in the apron, apparently the owner of Bob's Bangers, quickly noting the shard of metal that was protruding from his stomach with a growing blossom of blood. The other gentleman was beside the injured man quickly, helping to steady him as the young woman moved forward to examine the injury. Darn it, where is Jasmine when I need her. The Englishwoman thought about her teammate, who had at least some level of first aid training. While Dee did not, she did possess a near perfect memory, and had been looking over medical files with Jasmine that had been recovered in the computer systems of the secret base of the original Vanguard members. Trying to draw on that, and any other medical article or textbook she might have once glanced at, the young woman knelt down and pulled Bob's hands aside as she examined the wound. "Let me get a look at this." She said, as she looked at the injury, estimating the how much of the shard might be inside him. What she saw did not look good for him long term, unless they could get him to a hospital where he could get surgery. "We need something to try to control the bleeding." She said aloud as she focused on the injured man. "Sir, you need to try to keep from pushing against the shard. Right now it is stable, and should not cause any further harm, but you will need to get to a hospital to have this treated properly."
  3. So Synapse will spend a hero point and stunt Jack-of-all-Trades so she can make the Medicine roll. She gets a 21, easily diagnosing what is wrong with Bob.
  4. A slight look of surprise came to Dee's face as she found Foreshadow repeatedly going over images of another of those massive muscle bound Russians breaking in the door to Edward's room. The image seemed a bit strange, almost like a slightly grainy movie playing in the man's head. Her surprise was only increased as by his own somewhat surprised thought of "her again," but she was quick to pick up the single for her to remain quiet as the costumed hero turned to secure the door once more and drew out two fighting sticks. Dee quickly reached up to cup a hand over Edward's mouth, to keep him quiet as well. While doing so, she sent a message back to Foreshadow. Me again? When exactly have we crossed paths before? Her mental voice carrying the same crisp British accent as she normally spoke in.
  5. Once Ex posts IC, Miss Grue is up!
  6. So, against the DC 27 toughness save from Ulysses trying to break out, the snare gets a 18, so close to being able to break free in the first go. The snare is at -1 for its next toughness save though.
  7. Jessica and the younger Martin next to Carmen had slightly worried looks as the reporter quickly downed a glass of wine, though they had responded to her brief toast. But as she spoke up, her voice carrying over the other conversations in the room, they had looks of genuine surprise on their faces. Across the table from her, Vince was smiling in agreement with her sentiment. The other conversations quickly died off as everyone turned to regard Carmen, and then Nick when he spoke up next. "Very much to the point Ms. Canto." Came Sergio's raspy voice from the head of the table. "But certainly words to take stock in." The elder D'Ascenzo then turned to regard Nick as he continued, "and also very well put Mr. Cimitiere, and very much true. Those gathered here have all pushed their lives forward, hungry for success, even if they do not believe in the curse." "Myself, I have seen far too many of my family fall, to the curse or otherwise in my long life. My successes are behind me, the only thing I wish for now is to see those seated here have the chance to live as equally long lives. If anyone must die before you are able to break this curse forever, I am more than prepared for it to be me."
  8. Dee had just finished talking about Susan, but before her brother could respond, there was a loud crash at the door as a costumed figure kicked in the door and rushed into the room. "What the bloody...." Dee stated as she quickly took note of the figure. It only took a brief moment to recognize the costume as one of Freedom City's costumed crimefighters, or at least someone dressed as Foreshadow. But Dee was not really one to take things at face value, a practice reinforced by her experiences since she had reluctantly become part of the new Vanguard. So as the figure seemed to come up short, the young Englishwoman reached out with her mental powers to try to read his surface thoughts and find out what exactly was going on here...
  9. Well, going to make a Knowledge test for Synapse (whether it is Streetwise or Current Events I am not sure matters, as it will be the same). With the +4 from Eidetic Memory, she gets a 24, so I think she probably recognizes Foreshadow, or someone that looks like him. So, instead of mind blasting him, she will try to reach into his mind with Telepathy to read his surface thoughts, getting a 27 on her Power Check.
  10. With a small nod from the teen that she was willing to be the backup, Raven moved forward to the door as Blue Jay back a little way down the hallway. The older heroine glanced at Blue Jay a moment, gave a nod, then focused back on the door as she delivered a powerful kick that knocked the door open. Immediately another autogun began opening fire from inside the room, sending a stream of the stun shells through the now open doorway. But Raven had already dived forward and under the burst, rolling off to one side inside the room. The autogun then fell silent, apparently leaving an opening that Blue Jay could exploit to try and disable the weapon...
  11. Hey, fair enough, just wanted to give you (as the player) the choice instead of having the NPC force a decision on you. So, Raven will move by Jay and signal for her to fall back down the hallway, then kick in the doorway. Another autogun firing stun shells opens up with a line area (covering the door), but Raven easily dives aside (and into the room) with a 27 Reflex save. I will say Jay can move back into the doorway and shoot at the gun still if you want her to.
  12. North Bay, Freedom City, New Jersey Tuesday, February 11, 2014; 6:18 AM The sound of an alarm clock ringing for the third time in the last eighteen minutes pulled Megan Howell out of the half sleep she had fallen back into. The young woman's hand shot out towards the nightstand at speeds beyond what the human eye could easily follow, slamming the snooze button once more to silence the annoying alarm once again. But this time, Megan did not close her eyes again. Instead, she glanced at the room around her as her eyes adjusted to the faint darkness. The cold that had crept into the bedding on other side of the large bed reminded her that Robert was still back in England dealing with a few family matters and attending a conference back at Cambridge. Letting out a slight sigh, the blonde haired young woman sat up, reaching over to turn off the alarm. Once that was done, Megan was then up from the bed and had moved through the master bedroom and into the spacious master bath in a blink of the eye. A few moments later, she was climbing into a hot shower to help shake off more of her drowsiness, which should do until she was able to get some coffee. As the hot water ran over her, Megan closed her eyes for a few moments, thinking back to the various changes over the last few months. It had been toward the end of October when she and Robert had returned from what had been for them, six years in the Null Zone. Of course, because the Null Zone existed outside of normal time, to the rest of the world, they had not been gone long at all. Having returned with a six year old son, the pair had needed to make several changes to the lifestyles they had been leading. One of the first things Megan had done was to revel to her parents (and the later her older siblings) that she was Velocity, a secret she had kept from her family since she had been a Sophomore in high school. Naturally her parents had been quite shocked to learn their youngest daughter was also a superhero, not to mention that they suddenly had a six year old grandson. Megan and Robert had then begun looking for a place in Freedom City to purchase together. It had taken nearly all of November, but Megan had finally located a wonderful mansion in the northern, slightly more rural part of North Bay. The house came with extensive grounds, something Lawrence had become accustomed to growing up in the Null Zone. So Robert had more or less permanently relocated to Freedom City, although he was making bi-weekly trips back to England, though usually for only a couple days at a time and they had all spent the latter half of December and New Year's back at Robert's family estate in England. And of course, for Megan, there had been getting back into being more active with the Freedom League. Shutting off the water, Megan then exited the shower to dry her hair, get dressed and otherwise ready for her day. For the most part, her morning routine took mere moments, one of the benefits of having superspeed. But once she was dressed, Megan made her way down the dim hallway of the large mansion at a normal speed as she made her way to her son’s bedroom. The door to Lawrence's room was halfway open, as it often was, allowing some light from the main hallway to shine into his room so it was not too dark. Megan stopped at the door briefly and looked down at the sleeping form of the six year old. But then she turned on the lights as she called out. "Lawrence, time to get up and start getting ready for school." The figure on the bed began stirring as Megan added, "get dressed and the come downstairs for breakfast."
  13. Giang had been quiet when Lord Zandar had mentioned one of the incidents from her previous trip to the Lost World, her modesty not wanting to draw undue attention to the events. In truth, she agreed with Sam in wanting to avoid any such troubles this time around, preferring to have a chance to interact more with some of the Jungle Lord's people and see how they went about their daily lives. But, of course, she was more than ready to defend herself and others should the need arise. When Lord Zandar extended the haft of his spear and asked for their word to abide by his instructions, the Asian teen was not surprised, having been required to make the same pledge last year. Without hesitation, she reached forward to grip the spear. "I swear by my ancestors that I shall not dishonor your hospitality."
  14. GM Kazra considered Gene as he answered her question. "A moo-vee? Those are pictures that move right?" The girl asked, not sure what to make of the exchange between Gene and Cho. Her father meanwhile was regarding Juno and Sam with a small smile. "Hopefully there will be no such dire threat during your visit." He replied in agreement with Sam's comment, but then he looked to Juno with a small grin, "but I am sure there will still be plenty of excitement." The Jungle Lord then nodded once more at Sam's well-mannered request for him to continue to their destination. "Of course Samantha, but first…" Zandar's face then became more serious as he removed his spear from his back and offered its haft to the gathered group of teens. "Before we continue, I must have your solemn promise: you will not take anything you find outside of my kingdom for yourselves. Within my jungle, I can allow or decline to give you permission, but outside of it, the theft of the least and most insignificant thing might bring peril and downfall for you. For your safety, I must ask this of each of you."
  15. "Two very good questions William." Chase Atom replied with a small nod and a slight hint of a smile. "You will not be needing any space suits for the trip there, although there will be an opportunity to wear some if you wish to take a moonwalk outside Farside City." "As for how long it is going to take us to get there, it will only be a few moments, courtesy of Cosmo here." Chase then added, indicating the blue spider monkey on his shoulder, which hopped right off to land on a sofa arm, letting out a small screech as it did so. "So, unless there are any other questions, if you could all gather your things and move in closer to Cosmo, we will be on our way."
  16. Okay, while we wait for what Blode is going to do, will go ahead and play out what is going on with Jay and Raven. Rav, Jay gets to decide who will spring the trap on one of the side doors. Let me know either way and we can roll what needs to be rolled before your post IC.
  17. Raven released her grip on Blue Jay as the teenager recovered from the electrical shock, focusing her attention on the hallway as Blue Jay moved forward towards one of the doors part way up the hallway. "You are right to want to avoid the steel door, though that is the most direct route to Warden. But the side ones are going to be trapped as well." The older heroine stated. "Opening both doors will just expose both of us to a trap at the same time and not leave anyone to help the other. Better to focus on one direction, deal with whatever Warden has waiting, and then create our own path to him." "So your choice. You can open the door with me backing you up. Or I can spring the trap with you on standby." She then added.
  18. So, Ulysses is up, but bound and helpless. You can have him try to break free, which is you applying your Strength against the snare, for which I would roll a toughness save.
  19. GM Up in the sky, the flying twins saw the dome of water that formed up around the security guards that had been attacking them. "Yeah, like that will stop us." Commented Clover as she raised her free hand once more and sent another large rectangular energy construct flying down at the dome. The yellow energy construct struck the dome, breaking apart against it as the dome of solid water appeared to show cracks along its surface, but otherwise held fast. Crimson meanwhile sent a blast of red energy at the security guard who had managed to dive clear of the water dome. But the man's luck continued to hold as he dodged aside of the blast, a small crater being blasted in the ground where he had just been. Down on the ground, Tundra stepped back from Ulysses, a small smile on her face. "You should learn that appearances can often be misleading. I may not look it, but I likely have seen as many decades as you appear to have, or close to anyway." She retorted. "But regardless, callous you may call me, but these men knew what they were doing, and your interference is what has placed them in the most direct danger!" She raised up one hand again, reaching towards Ulysses as the hand closed into a fist. Once again the rock and earth rose up around him, but this time it came closing in rapidly towards him, too fast for him to try to dive aside as the steam powered hero found himself encased in a thick layer of rock and soil and unable to move.
  20. Okay, so Ulysses will be bound and helpless by the Snare, meaning he will have to try to break out on his turn.
  21. Dee was relieved that the restaurant patrons quickly moved to comply with her request to leave. The young woman stood to one side of the door as people began to exit. She was just turn to address the two older gentlemen that were bringing up the end of the exit line when suddenly there was a flash of heat and energy accompanied by the loud boom of an explosion. It was partially real, but also partially ghostlike. It was real enough that Dee felt an impact on her forcefield, which she luckily had up. The glowing red energy protected her from harm, but she was still knocked off her feet by the blast. Everything became confused for a moment, then she sat up to find herself on the blasted remains of a railroad track out in a the open air surrounded by fields and distant mountains. Climbing back to her feet and feeling the hot air that was not at all southern England in the winter, she looked over to where the two older gentlemen had been standing, finding one still on his feet and apparently unfazed. Ignoring the people rushing towards them for the moment, Dee asked, "Are you two alright?"
  22. Tony, if you could please give me a Notice check for the Crier. (You can choose to Take 10 if you want)
  23. Wow, Synapse just barely makes it. (But that is still making it). As this appears to be a +0 attack, I think Ulysses' Impervious will stop it.
  24. APPROVED
  25. Clover will try to drop another energy cube down on the security guards under Tsunami's dome, DC 25 toughness save for the dome, the dome only gets a 18, so is damaged (-1 future toughness saves). Crimson blasts at the guard that was clear, but misses with a 10. Tundra will once again try to snare Ulysses with some rocks, hitting with a 24, so DC 22 Reflex save to try to avoid the snare.
