Giang could not help but allow a small smile to come to her face as Gene and Juno discussed the heat. "The climate here does remind me of the village in the northern part of Vietnam where I lived most of my life." She stated, before turning to focus on Gene. "And a van is not going to do us any good where we are going, and spending that time in the air conditioning would only hamper your acclimating." The Asian teen then turned her head to look to Juno and Cho, as the two girls spoke about their guide and what they might encounter. "He is the type that keeps you from getting eaten by sabertooth tigers, or worse. And we are not going down there." She gestured for a moment toward the jungle down below. "We are going up there." Giang instead pointed off toward the mountainous terrain a short distance away that rose up into the mist. "Where there is a gateway, from this world to another. You could walk right past it, and likely never know. So having a guide to be sure we find it is necessary, not to mention to lead us where we need to go once we are through."

After shifting his powers so that he blended with the terrain and snow around him, the Crier moved forward towards the fences around the damaged building. While using this ability, the blogger turned superhero had to move at no more than a quick jog, but it was well worth it to be nearly undetectable. Closing with the orange fencing, towering a good ten feet up, the Crier saw the main gate to the facility was still open. A pair of men were stationed just inside the gate, which was drawn closed. Now that he was a bit closer, the Crier could see they looked like more than just standard rent-a-cops. Both appeared to be at least six feet tall and had large builds, even when taking the heavy winter coats both were wearing into account. One was standing inside a small shack with large windows that likely had the controls to open the gate. The other was walking out in front of the gate, his booted feet crunching in the packed snow.

Just wanted to be clear in case it wasn't in my IC post, we are not in the Lost World yet, the jungle they are looking down on is a normal one in South America.

DROWNED BY SUPERCAPE Okay, Tsunami has 18 unspent power points to work with here. 1) 2 pp spent to increase CON by 2 (bringing her Toughness save to the PL 11 cap) 2) 3 pp added to Swimming, boosting it to Rank 8 and adding an alternate power (platform flight for flying on a water spout) 3) 6 pp added to her array (which is renamed to more accurately reflect its nature). She adds two ranks to the array (expanding the array by 4 pp) and adds two new alt powers (an area attack and Time Stop). Also boosted several of the existing alts. 4) 4 pp to Skills for: +2 ranks to Survival (total 4) +2 ranks to Stealth (total 4) +4 ranks to Climb (total 6) +4 ranks to Kn: Tactics (total 10) +2 ranks to Languages (adding Japanese and Atlantean) +2 ranks to Concentration (total 8) 5) 3 pp to Saves (+1 to Dex save, +2 to Will save) I am going to drop Improved Initiative, and replace it with Benefit (use Kn: Tactics for Initiative Checks)

A Plateau in South America Friday, February 7, 2014 Giang Trang stood near the edge of a rocky plateau, looking out over a vast stretch of jungle down below. A few exotic birds could be seen flying up over the jungle canopy, and similar bird calls could be heard from the jungle trees up on the plateau as well. It was just over a year ago that the Asian teen had first stood here, waiting for Zandar, the jungle lord of the Lost World. The attractive Asian teen was dressed almost exactly as she had been during that last trip, in a dark blue cami top, over which she had a dark khaki long-sleeved shirt, which was currently unbuttoned and had the sleeves rolled up to just below her elbows in the humid jungle heat. She had on a pair of olive cargo shorts, and a pair of hiking boots, which had been brand new a year ago, but were now well worn, having gone through the Lost World once, as well as a trip to Africa. A backpack sat on the ground near one of her feet, filled with some changes of clothing and some other survival gear. Giang turned back to look at the others gathered on the plateau with her, her expression calm and serene. During the last trip, she had been the newcomer, having not even been at Claremont Academy a week. Now, the eighteen year old was the senior student for the trip, at least in terms of age and grade level. Samantha Vance was the next oldest of the group, and had actually been at Claremont longer than Giang. She was also the member of the group Giang knew best, but even then it was mainly through their mutual friendships with Mali, Cerys and Tona. The other three gathered students were some of the newest to Claremont, Cho Paige Lee, Juno Dempsey and Eugene King. While Giang had seen Juno and Gene around campus, Cho was the only one she really had had much in the way of interaction with before now. Of course, trips such as this made a good opportunity to learn more about her fellow students. "It should not be long before our guide arrives." She stated to break the silence.

Okay, Malcom (the African American Battle Brother) will once again interpose to take the hit. He gets a 31 on his toughness save again, so is unhurt.

Well Quinn, I would take off the area, as that is not very focused (which shaped charges are). That will take out a huge 30 wide section two stories high. That is bound to cause a cave in. Also, did you want to take the fatigue on Crow this time instead of the device?
-
Giang glanced at some of the crowd gathered, but figured it was much too late to do about that right now, so instead she turned back to focus on the unconscious Legion as she helped gather up a couple of the scattered bags full of the stolen gems. "Unfortunately, I believe Legion's staff is what the police would call 'evidence,' so it would be best leave it for them to collect along with her." The Asian teen stated in response to her roommates comments. She had gotten rather used to Thaelia's unusual view of how victory in battle should be celebrated, having seen firsthand an Atlantean celebration following such a victory. The Atlantean teen just occasionally required reminders that such things could be different on the surface world.

Dee was wearing a warm winter coat as she sat watching the opening ceremony for these winter games. This pageantry was not exactly her favorite part of the games, being mainly a way for the host to show off. But, it was also part of the athletes' Olympic experience, so she was willing to attend to help support that. Besides, it was not like there was much else to do while the opening ceremony was underway. So, she could stand to sit through the showmanship and long lines of marching athletes and look forward to finding some party taking place afterward. As for her shadows, the young Englishwoman paid them little attention for the moment. Having them watching was annoying, but not a terrible inconvenience.

So, the plan is generally to have Jasmine (and maybe Osprey as well) try the aid other action with their Computer skills to boost Dee's computer skill to try to take over the Haven's systems.

No, even with the +4 for eidetic memory, she falls short with a 18 for Kn: Pop Culture. (Though, I think it kind of makes sense, she would not be particularly interested in military personnel, even former ones)

It is not quite so simple! Dee replied back at both Osprey and Jasmine’s questions about dealing with the Haven's security systems. The young Englishwoman was rather relieved the two had been able to so easily deal with the response systems VERA had activated. What had been done to those special forces operatives revolted Dee. As if she needed other reasons to hate Hardcase, she could not help but agree with Jasmine's reactions. Unless someone else had reprogramed the Haven’s AI since Vanguard had disappeared, Dee could not think of anyone else in the Vanguard that might have even through of such a defense system, let alone been able to create it. "Okay, get on that terminal over there." She said aloud to Jasmine. "I will begin trying to get into the central core system. You can probably help keep the system busy, which should make what I am trying to do a bit easier."

Yeah, that will keep him hidden. There is a security guard with a flashlight that has come up to the office area and is looking around.

Freedom City Waterfront, New Jersey February 5, 2014; 10:24 PM A layer of snow still coated Freedom City, left over from the recent storms to hit the East Coast. The snow just added to the nighttime glow of downtown Freedom City's lights, helping reflect the lights from its many high-rise buildings. Down on one of the many waterfront piers, one on of the piers was currently fenced off with construction fences. Parts of the pier and the once sleek, three story building built on top of the pier were rather badly damaged, sections of the pier torn away and several huge holes torn in one side of the building. From where he stood a block away on the roof of another building, Jeremiah Deadfall could still see the PanStar logo on one corner of the damaged building. The building housed part of PanStar's oceanography research division and was damaged a couple of months ago when a supervillain controlling a giant squid attacked during some demonstration for some US military brass and some congressmen, senators and other important individuals. A pair of superheroes had appeared on the scene to stop the supevillain and drive off the giant squid, but the building and pier had sustained heavy damage. For Jeremiah, the damaged research facility offered a promising opportunity to investigate further into PanStar and its activities. High-tech company offices being attacked by supervillains occurred with some regularity in Freedom City. But what Jeremiah was more interested in was a disturbing pattern of other PanStar subsidiaries around the world being caught involved in some illegal activity. Thus far, such instances had been blamed on the local executives overseeing a particular project or office. But there was something of a pattern. Just the sort of thing for the Crier to investigate…

Midtown, Freedom City, New Jersey The Goodman Building Friday, February 7, 2014 Despite the recent heavy snow, it was business as usual this Friday morning in Freedom City. The roads had been cleared, and though there were still piles of snow scattered about, it was otherwise just a rather typical, cold, winter day in the busy city. Mali Benjawan was driving a small white van through Midtown's busy streets. Normally, she would still be in classes at Claremont Academy over in Bayview Heights. But today she and a number of other students were departing for a rather unusual field trip that would last over the weekend. Inside the van were four of Mali's fellow students. Sitting in the front passenger seat was the one Mali knew best, Elias Silvestri, and the second oldest present. Seated in back seats were Georgia Montgomery, William Cline, and then the student Mali knew the least, one of the school's newest, Ralf Steiner. But Mali had little time to think about her fellow students riding in the van, as she maneuvered through the tight traffic along 40th Avenue. Then up ahead she saw their destination, the massive steel frame of the Goodman Building, its mirror-finished windows gleaming in the mid-morning sun. The top five floors of the Goodman Building was home to the famous Atom Family, one of whom would be acting as the chaperone and guide for the group of Claremont students on their outing.

The blond Battle Brother managed to refocus, his eyes fixing on Lucy who had stepped up and tried to attack him, with only the intervention from his partner sparing him what likely would have been a very painful experience. "You three are pretty good, but your still not match for the Battle Brothers!" He called out as he stepped around his partner and sent a powerful fist flying at the undead attorney. The attack caught Lucy off guard, catching her right in the stomach with a loud *WHAM* and sending her staggering backward. If she still needed to breath, she likely would have had the breath knocked out of her from the powerful blow. The second Battle Brother instinctively sent a follow up punch flying at Lucy, but her backwards stumble had been just enough to cause the attack to miss. But then he stepped forward, closing the distance once more. "As you are quickly learning!" He added, bringing a powerful fist slamming down on Lucy's upper back. Somehow Lucy was able to move with the impact, falling to the ground. That maneuver just saved her from the follow up by the blond Battle Brother, as he sent a jab at her that just passed over her as she fell.
