Understood SC, hopefully it will not take too long to get things sorted. Mess makes is toughness save just fine. (even with me forgetting he had a bruise already) Crimson Tiger is up!

Up on the pier, Tempest saw some sort of flashes of light or energy streak up at the massive squid from down on the ground, though in the darkness and angle of the buildings, it was hard to see where they originated. The streaks of energy hit the squid, but appeared to have no more effect than had the ice spear the hero had created. Then one of the creature's fifty foot long tentacles whipped out of the building, sending a figure flying into the air, not too far from where Tempest was currently hovering. The hero caught a glimpse of a man in a suit, as he started to arch back down towards the ground, a fall he was unlikely to survive. Down below the pier, Wave-Eye swam amid the pylons and falling debris, trying to find the figure he had just been battling, but all the movement and the objects made it hard to pinpoint the man. Then suddenly another beam of energy lit up the waters, streaking out from behind a wooden beam just to the left of the Triton. The beam was well aimed, striking Wave-Eye squarely in the side.

Combining actions for the bad guys again, so we will be starting, Round Five 22 Unknown figure 17 Tempest (unharmed, 2 HP) 16 Wave-Eye (3 bruised, 0 HP) 8 Squid thing. The squid tosses a person up into the air past Tempest. The guy with the trident tries to look for Wave-Eye, spotting him with a 24. He fires a blast at the Triton, hitting again with a 28, DC 25 toughness save. And then back to Tempest.

GM The other students had stopped as well as Alexander spoke to them, not quite as inquisitive as Daphne or as polite as Giang, but not openly rude or dismissive either. "Well, while the trains likely did contribute some, the bigger problem around here was many of the factories and other industry, which caused heavily pollution and ecological damage with how they operated." Stated Brad. "But then, for all the damage caused by the railroads or factories and the like, they were a part of the process that led us to where we are today." Molly gave a small nod as Daphne mentioned needing to get back to their project. "Yeah, sorry sir, but we are a bit short for time right now. Otherwise it would be interesting to hear some of your stories."

Crow is up!

Raven spotted Blodeuwedd quickly when the teenager hopped down and allowed the Freedom Leaguer to see her. She seemed a little surprised when Blod took her hand, until she was connected to the magical communication link that Crow had established. So I take it Duncan sent you. It was a statement, not a question. Let's get through the portal first. She then added before she moved towards the shimmering heat of the portal that Blod had indicated. Soon the two women were through the portal and back on the rooftop across the street from the building. I arrived a short while ago and began taking a look through the building to learn what I could. It was clear rather quickly that this was a trap set up for Tsunami, El Heraldo, Net Fly and Warp. That was when Warden, the one behind the trap, reactivated everything to catch me, as he was anticipating me coming to investigate. From what he has revealed thus far in his taunting, it sounds as if he was hired by someone else to capture Tsunami, El Heraldo and Net Fly. As you heard, we are on a clock to try and get everything we can about that contract.

For the third time, Lucy delivered another powerful blow on the blond haired Battle Brother. But this time, the large man seemed to brace himself for the attack and Lucy was not sure that it did much of anything. Just inside waiting room by the door which all the heroes were currently more or less gathered, the fighter who had opened the door took a surprised look at Freddy's sudden appearance, trailed by several other fighters who were trying to take him down. The man launched a quick left hook at the short pugilist, which connected with the side of Freddy's head. Back where Freddy had just been, two of the fighters started running forward, only to be waved aside by one of the gun wielding thugs. "This way." The man with the gun yelled, leading the two fighters over to another door out of the room and into the hallway beyond.

Fighter 8 throws a punch at Mess, hitting with a 23, so a DC 16 toughness save for Mess. Thug 6 and Fighters 2 and 10 all move across the room towards another door to the hallway. Harry is up (I will try to see if Cape want's me to just move past him, he is a coward after all).

"Very nice to meet you Vector." Velocity stated as the Australian heroine introduced herself. "Well, let me give you some quick directions for where things are then. As you can see, the lobby is serving as a main reception area. Just through those doors to the right," the speedster pointed over past all the tables set up near the Christmas tree, "is food and refreshments. I believe Fleur de Joie is in there at the moment." "And down the hall off to the left," she point over towards the hallway sitting to the left side of the reception desk that was further back in the room, "is the trophy room and museum and a large conference room that has been set up as dance floor." Velocity then gave a small nod as Vector mentioned difference in the holiday season between Australia and Freedom City. "Yeah, I certainly noticed that during my trip around the world on New Year's. The stops in the southern hemisphere were certainly much more comfortable than those in the northern." "And it was not quite as difficult as you might think really.†She replied to the other young woman's thanks for organizing the party. “Some of the heroes we do have connections with were able to pass the word to some of those we don't, as for the rest, well, wasn’t too hard for one of us to try to catch up with them at some point over the last few weeks. But you’re very welcome, we are glad to be able to do this." Just then, the yellow clad speedster noticed a new arrival. "Excuse me one second, I see another guest has arrive." The speedster turned to the new woman in the flapper dress with a wide smile. "Hello, happy holidays and welcome to Freedom Hall! I'm Velocity, and this is Vector."

Megan listened as her teammate began to revel the problems with her marriage, a great sense of sympathy for the other woman's problems. Megan had a history of failed relationships, usually a direct result of her being Velocity, though that had ended this year when Robert had learned her secret. But compared with Stesha's problems, Megan's old romantic trials seemed so trivial. When Stesha brushed away a tear, there was another brief blur of movement and Megan was leaning forward offering a tissue box to the green haired plant controller, having not missed a syllable of what she had been saying. "I'm so sorry to bring this up Stesha, I knew Derrick was off world a lot, but I did not realize it was this bad." She paused a brief moment before continuing. "While I would hardly say it was quite the same, things were sort of like that when I was growing up. My father is a senior partner at Hartford, Grayson & Cole, and while I was young, it was not uncommon for us to only see him a little bit on the weekends and very rarely during the week. I can recall a lot of dance recitals or gymnastics meets for which he was a no show." "What you're dealing with is well beyond the mostly absent parent or spouse, so I can completely understand not really knowing how to feel about it all."

Okay, this time Jack takes the hit just fine, getting a 27.

Giang had been just about to make her way out into the clear section of the courtyard when first Subito had tried to take her place and received a shock as punishment and then Serge had stepped forward to defend him. The Asian teen had tensed slightly, but was caught off guard like the others when Lady Shen proved she was far quicker than she appeared, as she delivered a perfectly aimed nerve strike to Serge. While the teen remained on his feet, it was clear that the strike had affected him. Luckily, Subito jumped in to intervene. While she was prepared to try to aid Serge and Subito if it came to it, she knew that such an endeavor would inevitably fail at the moment. Until they could determine some means of getting rid of those collars, the chances of them escaping were minimal. For now, they needed to bide their time and learn what they could about Lady Shen and this facility. "Very well." She said with as calm and relaxed voice as she could, stepping forward into cleared space and facing the waiting man. After exchanging a brief bow with her opponent, the Asian teen shifted into a cat stance, her left hand extended out in front of her as her right was held up against her chest. Her opponent entered a martial arts stance as well with a fierce cry before he moved towards the Asian teen, launching a front kick at her as he closed. Giang easily sidestepped the attack, and with a sweep of her left foot, sent the man tumbling onto the ground. He landed hard, but was quickly back up on his feet again, turning to face Giang once again. Two more times the man attacked the teen, each time she dodged or deflected the attack and used first a throw, then another trip, to send the man sprawling onto the ground. Each time he was quickly back up on his feet, but after the third time, he appeared to be moving a bit more gingerly, having been slammed three times onto the hard courtyard. Lady Shen watched the exchanges rather impassively, although it quickly became apparent that she felt that the Asian teen was holding back, as she made a small gesture with one hand and two more of the trainees kneeling around open space leapt to their feet and moved forward so that they and the first man formed a small circle around the teenage girl, who shifted her stance into a more defensive posture as she considered the new threats.

Velocity turned to the first guest, giving the young heroine a wide smile and a nod as she mentioned New Year's in Sydney last year. "That's me. Sydney was one of my early stops to see New Year's arrive. Have to say it was quite a fun stop, certainly made me want to come back and visit again sometime. Just never quite found a good time to do so over this last year." "But before we start talking too much about travel and such, let me say Happy Holidays and welcome to Freedom Hall!" The young speedster added, gesturing around slightly. "Is this your first time here?"
-
GM Lady Shen regarded Subito and Serge for a brief moment, her stance making it clear she was ready to continue if any of the teens pressed the issue. But then, she stood back up straight, her arms crossing in front of her once more. "I must say I admire your bravery young ones, even if it is mixed with foolhardiness and insolence." She looked back over at Giang, though did not fully turn away from the two teenage boys. "Now, if we are finished with defiant interruptions, I believe I was waiting to learn a bit more about you Xian Lou." The elderly woman gestured once more back to the space around which the students that had previously been training were still kneeling and waiting. One of the men, who appeared in his early twenties, had risen from his spot and moved into the space, waiting for Giang to make her way out there as well.

Okay, as I have been talking about in chat for over a month now, the Freedom League hosted holiday party has The primary hosts for the party will be the five PC League members. So the party is open to any of the PC heroes on the boards. Many of course have some connection with the League already, and easily would have received invitations through those connections. For those heroes that have yet to make any connection with the League, it can be assumed that at some point in the weeks leading up to the part, a member of the League (perhaps a yellow clad speedster ) caught up with them during some bit of crime fighting to provide them with an invitation. The thread is rather likely to get pretty big, so paying some attention to what others are posting to understand the scenes is appreciated. This also represents a rather good time to make use of the quote features of the boards, so it is easier for others to track what conversation(s) your characters are replying to and the like. The normal rules about limiting a player to one character in a thread will not apply for this thread. We hope everyone takes this opportunity to have their character interact with some others they might not normally encounter, and above all, have some fun! Any questions or issues, please feel free to post them here.

Freedom Hall Tuesday, December 17, 2013 5:56 PM The early evening found a light snow falling on Freedom City, adding to the thin layer that had already accumulated. Heavy clouds that had filled the skies all day, now glowed a soft orange from the city's lights. Beyond the normal bright lights of the city's evening skyline, holiday lights and other decorations now seemed to be everywhere. The combination of the festive decorations and the light snow seemed to generate a vibrant energy within the city. As the heart of Freedom City, City Center was awash with dazzling lights and holiday decorations. A massive Christmas tree stood in the green space at the heart of Centennial Circle, out in front of City Hall. Sitting just to the west of Centennial Circle, Freedom Hall, the original headquarters of the Freedom League, was no exception to the festive atmosphere. Sections of the stone wall surrounding the Hall had various decorations, and the trees inside the grounds were adorned with lights. Freedom Hall itself had lights strung along the edges of stepped ledges created by the roofs of each floor. Velocity, one of the members of the Freedom League, was standing in the large lobby and reception area, taking one last look at the decorations that had been put up for the holiday party the League was hosting this evening for the city's various heroes. A ten foot tall Christmas tree had been set up along the right hand side of the lobby, covered in shining silver ornaments and multicolored lights. A number of tables were set up over on that side of the lobby, some lower tables with chairs, others were tall tables around which people could stand. Located just off that side of the lobby was a conference room where the food and refreshments had been set up. On the other side of the lobby had been reconfigured some by Dr. Metropolis to include a working fireplace in which there was currently a roaring fire. A number of leather sofas and chairs were arranged around the fireplace, offering a comfortable setting area for guests to relax. "Okay, everything looks great. The guests should start arriving soon." The speedster started out loud to some of her teammates as they were putting on the final touches. She was wearing her normal yellow costume, with the addition of a red Santa hat. As someone who could multitask with easy, the Velocity took a brief moment to check her phone, which was set up to control the sound system that had been connected to the first floor's PA system. Flipping through some of the songs she had put on the playlist, the young woman came to a stop at one song on the list. Listed on the screen was a song by Death Cab for Cutie, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Hmm, good song, but not one I think that hits a bit too close for Stesha. She thought, as she removed the song from the playlist. With that done, she selected another song on the list to begin with. Over the speakers throughout the first floor of the building, the mellow sound of saxophones and other jazz instruments could be heard as

Okay Ari, that is not quite good enough to find the trident guy.
-
The squid easily shakes off the attack with a 33 on its toughness save. Wave-Eye is up Ari, need a notice check for him to try to spot the trident guy.

Flying through the mist he had created, Tempest was able to quickly clear the loading dock and shoot up into the air to taken in the scene. Even without his unusual sense that detected the massive disturbance on the surface of the river, it was not hard to spot the source of the disturbance, the massive squid like creature that had smashed a large hole in the wall of the PanStar research building. Tempest’s icy spear easily hit the massive creature, but shattered at impact, seemingly with little effect, and the squid continued reaching into the hole that it had created.

Giang glanced over to where Thaelia was lifting up an entire rack of dresses. For a brief moment, she considered asking her roommate to put the rack down, but after a casual glance, noted that there was no other shoppers in this particular part of the store at the moment. As the Atlantean teen came over towards the other two girls with the dress she had picked out, Giang took a moment to consider it. "I would think perhaps some sort of necklace might be best." She then turned back to consider Mali's comments about what she was thinking in regards to her dress. "But would not red be the more festive color?" She asked Mali.

Giang stayed just to one side of Thaelia and the group of Atlanteans assisting her in moving the statue back to its rightful place. Though she was still feeling somewhat tired after the battle with Natas and his men, she did feel a great deal of satisfaction at being able to not only stop another of his plots, but also capture the mercenary leader this time. "It has certainly been an interesting vacation." She replied to her roommate. "And while this may not have been how I would have preferred to spend the day, I am very glad that I was here to assist." A small smile then came to the Asian teen's face as Thaelia mentioned a celebration. "I am certain it will be something to experience."

Megan had at first been smiling as Stesha talked about Ammy. The blonde speedster had always found the little girl so charming, but her understanding of the pride the green haired woman had for her daughter had certainly changed given her recent experiences. But when her teammate turned to talking about her husband, Megan's smile faded some, as it became clear that subject was something of a painful subject for the green haired plant controller. She felt rather bad about bringing the painful subject up. "Yeah, I would imagine so." The speedster replied back quietly. "But still, hopefully that won't be necessary and he will be able to come home for a bit." Megan paused a moment, looking over at Stesha, who had been so willing to listen and offer advice the times she had come to talk to her about things. "It must be very hard for you with him gone so much."

GM Lady Shen did not even budge as Serge interceded, making a defiant speech and daring her to do her worst. She fixed a steely gaze on the teenager as she calmly replied, "I am starting to tire of your insolence. Perhaps I shall simply have to pursue other means to learn what I wish to know from Xian Lou, ones in which either of you play no further part." "Do you really believe those collars are my only means of keeping you under control?" She then added before she moved with blinding speed. Stepping forward slightly, her left hand shot forward two fingers extended outward to strike Serge at a point just above his collarbone. At her strike, Serge took a slight step backward, as his entire body seemed to go numb. His arms and legs felt as if they were many times heavier than normal. Lady Shen had stepped back to assume a crane stance.
