  1. So, Lady Shen will beat either of those even with a 1. So, you are all caught off guard she suddenly takes a step forward and her hand shoots out to strike Serge (with the tips of her fingers), hitting with a 22. So DC 22 Will save for Net Fly.
  2. Ari, for your roll, pick the better of the two to roll (only roll one). Sorry, I should have been clearer.
  3. Okay, if I could get some sense motive or bluff rolls for everyone...
  4. Stesha's brief pause before she mentioned her husband did not go unnoticed by Megan, but for the moment she did not bring it up. As the green haired plant controller started to go for her purse to get out her phone, there was a blur of movement around Megan. If it had not been for that blur, it likely would not have been noticeable that the speedster had even moved, other than the fact her long blonde hair swished up slightly to one side as its momentum continued while she came back to a halt. And the fact that Megan now had her own phone in her hand. "Thanks, I really appreciate that." The speedster replied with a smile as she opened up her contact list to add the information for the Nicholson school's principal. Once that was done, Megan set the phone aside on an end table and looked back up at Stesha. "I will give her a call early this afternoon. Thanks for everything, it has been really helpful to get some different perspective on all this." "But how are things going with you? How are Ammy and Derrick?"
  5. GM As soon as Subito volunteered to go first and begun to move forward, Lady Shen casually raised her right hand to about head level. Suddenly Subito felt a surge of pain shoot through his body, originating from his neck. Although he remained on his feet and was able to shake off the effect, it did bring him to a halt. "A small taste impertinent one." The elderly woman stated as she lowered her hand once more. "This was not an open invitation. My interest is in her," she nodded her head ever so slightly towards Giang, "your primary purpose is to serve as motivation to cooperate. Seeing you and your other friend experiencing agony is far more effective than simply telling her that it is being done if you are still back in your cells."
  6. Ari, please give me a DC 22 Fort save for Heraldo.
  7. As the white hot flames erupted towards her, Giang dove to one side, rolling along the ground an coming back up to her feet in a low stance. She had managed to completely avoid the attack, glancing about to see that three of the Serpent People were pursing Blod. Bringing her hands up in front of her, the Asian teen once again sent a blast of water streaking out at one of the serpents, hoping to get some of the pressure off the other teen. However her aim was slightly off and the twisting coils of water jetted past the intended target to impact into the wall beyond.
  8. Tsunami will use Defensive Attack once again, -2 atk/+2 def and attack one of the Serpents with a blast. She only gets a 17 on her attack roll.
  9. "Yeah, I know I have certainly stressed over the years about having to lie so much to my parents and siblings." Megan replied as her teammate mentioned how she had found it more stressful to lie to her family than to actually tell them the truth. "Though I am not sure I will be able to bring Robert along, at least if I tell them when I was planning to. He is back in England at the moment and has things he needs to take care of over the next few days. But I think I have been ready for telling my family for sometime now." The blonde speedster then smiled as Stesha mentioned the possibility of commuting from somewhere else to avoid some of the problems that could come from Lawrence's sudden appearance. "Commuting is certainly an option, could be from most anywhere in the world really. I had been looking at some potential places to buy in Riverside back before the trip to Fiji. That is not really a good option anymore. Lawrence has been used to having lots of space in the Null Zone, so I probably will want to look for something somewhat more rural. Of course, there won't be dinosaurs roaming around, but he will just have to get used to that." "And that sort of brings up another point. I only know a bit about the Nicholson School, but I cannot really think of any good options at the moment for Lawrence."
  10. "Yes, it is a small private school." Giang replied to Cathy's question. But before she could continue, or any of the other students could ask any further questions a man with greying hair and the slight signs of wrinkles on his face stepped forward and gave a friendly greeting before asking about why they were there. Giang paused a moment to study the man, conflicted by two rather different feelings. First, she had been raised to follow rather traditional Chinese values, such as respecting ones elders. But she was also consistently reminding herself that there were a number of criminal organizations (which included some that were run by her father) based in Asia that were looking for chances to capture or kill her. But as she looked at the man in front of the group, she believed it somewhat unlikely that he could be someone that was looking for her. However, during the time it had taken the Asian teen to reach that conclusion, one of the other students, the one who had introduced herself as Daphne, responded to the man’s greeting with some of the exuberance that she had exhibited during the drive up from Freedom City. Giang gave the man a small respectful bow as she added. "I hope we are not disturbing you sir." She added to Daphne's comments.
  11. Okay Thomas, Tempest is up.
  12. Up at the surface of the river, the massive squid like creature continued to tear at the opening in the wall with some of its tentacles, while others reached in through the opening it had created, almost as if it was trying to find something. Bits of debris crashed down onto the pier and into the water below as the building shook slightly from the efforts. As the cloud of sediment dropped down lower, Wave-Eye was able to see the figure he was fighting a bit more clearly. It appeared to be in some sort of blue tinted body armor, the feet of which was designed as fins. The object it was holding in its hands was not a spear, but a trident like weapon, the two outer prongs the longer, while the center prong was shorter. It was from that shorter prong that another burst of energy shot forth, once again striking the Triton squarely. This time, after making the attack, the figure swam over to the area underneath the pier where the squidlike creature was, darting among the pylons supporting the structure.
  13. Okay, going to get to the squid’s action in a moment, but wanted to combined a post with the unknown figure while I was at it, so… Round four 22 Unknown figure 17 Tempest (unharmed, 2 HP) 16 Wave-Eye (2 bruised, 1 HP) 8 Squid thing. The figure tries to blast Wave-Eye once more, hitting with a 28, so another DC 25 toughness save for Wave-Eye.
  14. "Thank you Sam. It is rare that I have the opportunity to wear something like this." Giang replied to the other girl with a small smile and slight nod. "Both of you are looking very nice as well." She then stated, being sure to include Tona once more. It was then that Mali opened the door to greet them all with a wide smile. "Good evening Mali." Giang replied with a warm smile of her own, making her way in with Sam and Tona and then following her back to the room where Cerys was already waiting. "Good evening Cerys." Unlike some of the others, Giang was not wearing a coat, despite her dress being sleeveless.
  15. With her painting in hand (thankfully the magical paint dried very quickly), Lucy set out from Rene's home. Retracing her route back towards the subway station, the undead lawyer was soon back among the many shops and restaurants that filled many parts of Riverside. A few blocks from the entrance to the subway, she came to a halt as she saw a sign for an internet cafe. Making her way inside, Lucy was rather quickly assisted by one of the employees. The young man, Alan, allowed Lucy to use the phone to contact Harry about how she could send him the picture. This led to Harry handing to phone over to Lance. Before too long, Alan was on the phone with Harry's contact, and the two were talking rather quickly in computer jargon neither Lucy nor Harry could quite follow. But was only a few minutes later that Alan had taken a picture of the painting with a camera hooked up to a computer and sent the image off to Lance. Once Lance had the image, he put it into a program he had that would search for visual matches of the building in a number of databases. "It could take a bit of time to get a match." He stated to Harry, who was now back on the phone with Lucy. "I can give you a call once I get something."
  16. Giang had not been overly surprised when the guards had not led them back to the audience chamber, instead taking them someplace else for the audience with Lady Shen. She was a bit surprised that they were taken outside, given the possibility that it would be easier to try to escape outside. But of course there were the collars to give them pause. The Asian teen took in their exotic surroundings, causing her to wonder just how far away from Freedom City they were. The mass of students training in the courtyard before them brought back memories of the men that had attacked her and John at the Chinese New Year celebration in the West End a few months earlier. Had those men all been trained here? She then turned to regard Lady Shen as she greeted them and Subito commented on her possibly wanting to turn them into servants of Dr. Sin. While the Lady Shen acted as if Subito had just provided her with information she had wished to confirm, Giang had discussed her father working for Dr. Sin to Subito and Serge last night when they had first been placed in their cells, and she had little doubt that their conversations in the cells were monitored. The Asian teen followed along after Lady Shen when the guards had nudged them forward, remaining silent as Serge had been the next to try to learn more about their captor's goals. Giang did her best to remain calm and focused, but remaining silent as they walked in along the front row of trainees. When Lady Shen called the gathered trainees to assemble, forming what could only be a sparing area, Giang had a feeling what Lady Shen wanted. "And if I refuse?" The Asian teen asked in a clam voice. "Then we see how much your friends have to suffer before you no longer refuse." Lady Shen relied coldly.
  17. GM Lady Shen glanced back over at Net Fly, giving him another of her sinister grins. "What an interesting suggestion. I shall indeed have to arranging some contests of that nature." She then turned back to continue walking, leading the small group out onto courtyard and past the front ranks of the trainees. Now that they were closer, the teen could see the sweat on the faces and necks of the men and women closest to them, but they remained focused on the form and execution of every stance, block, or strike. "I am sure my young charges would be quite eager to test themselves on truly worthy opponents, even if the three of you did fall so easily into the traps set by Warden." The elderly woman continued. "But at the moment, I have more pressing matters to attend." Lady Shen came to a halt at a point about midway along the front rank of the trainees, turning suddenly to face the three teens behind her. Her arms were crossed in front of her, each hand tripping the forearm of opposite arm. <"Stop!"> She called out in Mandarin, her voice carrying easily over the cries of the trainees spread across the courtyard. Each of the trainees halted immediately, stepping back and bringing their feet together as their hands came in together at chest level and then were lowered down in front of their hips. <"Assemble!"> Lady Shen shouted next, again in Mandarin, while keeping her steely gaze fixed on Giang. The trainees all began moving at once with practiced easy. Those closest to Lady Shen and the teens moved away from them, splitting off to the right or the left. The ones further out to the right or left sides moved towards the open space that was suddenly created. In a matter of moments, there was a large open space beside Lady Shen and the teens, the trainees forming a U shape around the sides with multiple rows at each side of the U, all perfectly aligned. Then as one each trainee knelt down onto the bricks of the courtyard, their feet tucked underneath so they were sitting on their heels with their feet perpendicular to the ground, their toes curled so the balls of their feet supported their weight. Their hands were turned inward, resting on their upper thighs and their posture was upright and perfect. "You are a mystery to me Xian Lou Khan." Lady Shen then continued, speaking in English once more. "And I do not like mysteries. So it is time to being unraveling this one." As she finished, she extended one arm out to her side, gesturing towards the open space inside the U formed by the trainees.
  18. Okay Tiff, Blod is up.
  19. No, he’s not going to go down that ease, so rerolling (HP to Wave-Eye) for a 19, adjusted to 29, so he barely makes it.
  20. Giang glanced over as Tona and Sam stepped fully into the porch light. "Good evening." She stated in greeting as Tona made the introductions, though the Asian teen did raise an eyebrow slightly at Tona's comments, not quite sure what to make of them. "I believe what Tona is meaning to say that my powers include the ability to control water." "It is an honor to meet you Sam." Giang stated as she placed her palms together in front of her and gave a slight bow. "I have heard others speak quite highly of you."
  21. Thanks Thomas, okay Ari, Wave-Eye is up, let me know which target he wants to take for his attack.
  22. As Mess leapt towards the exit to the room, one of the guys in the cheap suits quickly tried to take aim at him and fired off a shot. The gunshot echoed in the large room, but the goon's aim was badly off, the bullet passing well behind Mess and impacting into the ceiling. Mess landed near the door, just behind the fighter that had hit Crimson Tiger. No sooner had he landed than another three fighters moved forward to engage him. They launched a series of punches and kicks at the pugilist, who was able to avoid or block three of the attacks. But just as Mess sidestepped a jab, a roundhouse kick from the third caught him on the side of the head. The blow snapped his head to one side, as he staggered slightly, bright lights flashing before his eyes as he tried to get his bearings once more. Though the blond Battle Brother had taken two solid hits from Lucy, he still seemed very much in the fight. Once again he stepped forward and launched a punch at the Lucy, forcing her to side step once more. As before, the African American Battle Brother moved with almost precise timing, launching an attack at where Lucy had must moved to, but once again Lucy managed to duck under the follow up attack.
  23. Alright, that brings us to... 24. Okay, some free action talking, free action to activate her forcefiled, move action to step out of the van, more free action talking and then using Telepathy (mind reading portion) to try to read the mind of one of the men at the other van (your choice who that might be Cape). Her Telepathy is subtle, so no visible effects, DC 20 Notice check for anyone with mental awareness to detect it, and for the target of the mind reading to know she is picking around in his head. Her power check for the mind reading is a 30!
  25. "Bloody..." Dee began as the massive birdlike creature swooped into the air to attack Young Britannia. As Jasmine moved into action, Dee had been about to ask what she planned to do against that thing with a weapon loaded with paintballs. But then, the young Englishwoman was smart enough to realize that there were any number of chemical agents that could be delivered in a paintball and just watched as Jasmine leaned out a window to shoot up at the creature. When Young Britannia called out for them to "mop things up" and then disappeared into the night sky with the "Osprey" still holding on to her, Dee frowned slightly. "Mop things up? What exactly is there to mop up? We still have no real idea who this bloody lot are." As several figures emerged from the other van holding weapons, she knew that there might be something to deal with down her after all, but they still were not completely certain who that group was. Taking a deep breath, she glanced at Jasmine. "Cover me." The Englishwoman stated as she surrounded herself with a field of red telekinetic energy. Stepping out of the Ministry van, she looked over across the way at the group of armed men. "We are from the Ministry of Powers, here to deal with the Osprey. Please lower your weapons and identify yourselves." Of course, she did not fully trust them to be honest, so she reached out with her telepathy towards the mind of one of the men, looking to see what she might be able to learn about the reason for their presence.
