It only took Solar Sentinel a few moments to catch up with the police cars in pursuit of the van. Though the two squad cars did not have their lights on, from his vantage point in the sky, it was not too difficult to locate them. Luckily, because of the tracking device, they were able to follow well behind the van, so as not to tip off its occupants. "Copy Solar Sentinel, this is car 17, good to know you're up there." Replied one of the police officers over the radio. The pursuit lasted close to ten minutes, as the van had slowed down to a more normal speed. The police cars, with Solar Sentinel high above, continued to maintain their distance, and thus far the occupants of the van had not done anything to endanger any innocent bystanders. There were points where they had to slow down some, or alter their path, as the van was stopped by traffic lights, so the pace was rather slow, particularly for Solar Sentinel. As they reached the edge of a rather rundown section of Southside, a call came over the police band. "All units, be advised, the target vehicle as come to a halt outside an intersection."
-
The officer gave Solar Sentinel a small smile. "We certainly won't turn down an offer to help. It could certainly help to have you nearby should the situation change before they get to wherever they are headed and they start endangering civilians. Not to mention there could be more of them waiting wherever they are going as well." "Here, take this." The officer added, handing Sentinel a radio. "It is from one of the injured officers, will allow you to stay in touch with the squad cars in pursuit. Right now the van is headed south on Indiana into Southside."

Welcome to the site! One small point, it would probably be best to focus on working on the build a bit here before submitting it for approval, that way the character you submit can be a bit more fine-tuned. So, starting with the fluff…well, it could probably use a bit flushing out. I understand he is a new hero, but a bit more to help understand about who he is and where he came from could be helpful. While a long detailed history is not necessary, a bit more information can help provide sources for threads. Also, regarding the section on his Personality & Motivation, I am not sure if it was just an example of a thought process, but we have generally banned characters that kill/use lethal force (some “valid†targets exist, such as demons, but killing a supervillain such as the Joker, is frowned upon). Similarly, some of the tactics you list (along with how you have built some of the powers, discussed below) seems to be edging towards the “bathtub psychic†(if not there already) which is also something we do not allow. It is one thing to use tactics and concealment, but to stand well out of harm’s way while blasting opponents is something different. So, the crunch: Saves: Well, the Fort save is pretty darn low, which could be problematic. Skills: So, nothing that seems problematic, but out of curiosity, how does Knowledge: Arcane Lore fit into the character concept? Feats: Sneak Attack breaks the PL caps (as you are already maxed at atk/dam). Powers: The Array: One thing that I think is important to remember, is that you do not always have to use every point in the array in each alt power (this can be particularly true with Dynamic powers). Also, I think that for many of these, you are trying to tack on a few to many feats, which makes the dynamic slot a bit more cumbersome. For the Air and Water Control, both are Perception ranged, so you do not need the Accurate feats. For the Blast, I am a bit unsure about the Variable Descriptors, do you have two 1 point variable descriptors? Also, I am a bit concerned about the Improved Range 2 and Progression (Range) 2. If I am calculating that correctly, that is a base range increment of 2,500 feet, which is sort of getting to the “bathtub psychic†issue. For the Create Object and Obscure slots, I am not sure Indirect is a feat that can be applied (for I am not sure what it would do for those powers). The Flight alt power: Personally, I feel that 17 ranks of flight in an array is excessive, though I am not sure any of the other Refs would have an issue with it. This might be a case where you do not need to spend all the points in the array. Immunity Aging: Not something that is likely an issue, I just personally wonder how that fits into the character concept? Super Senses: There is a big problem here. First, it is not clear to me what the senses are. Does he have Detect Water, Detect Air and Detect Weather as tactile senses? If that is the case, you really need to check the house rules on Super Senses, as the base cost for each Detect would be 2 pp (as each is a Common descriptor). That is at least 6 pp base cost right there. I also believe you would need to add the Ranged extra to each of them, which would add another 3 pp (for a total of 9 pp). If these detects are a tactile sense (which is something else I am uncertain about the mechanic of, but something that could possibly be explained) then by default, the Accurate, Acute and Radius is already present. You still need Analytic (2 pp for the entire sense type), Penetrates Concealment (4 pp), Extended 3 (3 pp, and this is something I find a bit problematic as it gives you a 10,000 foot range increment, thought the other Refs might not have the same concerns), Rapid 3 (3 pp), and the Uncanny Dodge feat (1 pp). This would bring the total cost to 22 pp, not 15.

Velocity gave a small sigh at Smith's reaction to her comment. "No, you misunderstand me. I was not suggesting what happened to your wife and tribe was minor, or that any event in the past is minor. No, I was commenting on how it comes a question of where one draws the line when one starts pulling people from the past. If everyone from the past gets moved to a future where there is less suffering…well, how will that future ever come about?" "But again, I did not come here to make moral judgments or debate philosophical principals." The speedster then added. "But again, I thank you deeply for agreeing to help." As Hronos got her attention and spoke, Velocity gave a nod a she replied quietly. "Thanks, but be sure to keep an eye on things and don’t hesitate to speak up if something concerns you." Turning back to Smith, she gave a somewhat reluctant nod. "Yes, I thought the Stopwatch might be useful for us." She stated as she took a small box out of one of the pouches on her belt. Opening the box, she took out an intricate and old looking pocketwatch. "As I mentioned, this is somehow keyed to Robert, and as far as we now, only he can operate it. I figured if need be, we might be able to use it as something of a lodestone for finding him."
-
Velocity took the offered tea from Smith, but only had a few sips. She brightened up some as he stated that he would help her, but then that mood darkened slightly as he once again brought up his prior encounter with Hronos and his attempts to bring his wife and others forward in time. "That is not an easy question." The speedster began. "And one that Hronos could probably answer more directly. I understand your commitment to your wife and tribe, but history is filled with suffering, and events that are unjust. But I am sure even you can agree that major problems can arise if one was to start pulling large groups of people from the past to save them from those conditions." "But I am very grateful for your willingness to assist." She paused a moment then took out two heavy black cloths which she sat down on the coffee table in front of her. "As I said, I believe that Robert has been taken to a null time, sitting outside of all the various timestreams. I am hoping that we will be able to use these pieces to allow us to travel to that null time." She continued as she opened the cloth to revel the pieces of the prototype that had been recovered by Steed and by the Russians.
-
Velocity frowned slightly as Smith was so quickly dismissive of Hronos. When he turned his focus back to her, she gave a small smile as he allowed her into the house. "Thank you Mr. Smith, though I will say that while I am not here to debate philosophy with you, and I am far less than certain I could do so with much success, I would not be so dismissive of Hronos as soulless. When I first joined the Freedom League, it was alongside another new member named Envoy, an artificial creation from Utopia Isle, and someone I would point to as strongly supporting the argument that such an entity can have a soul. He was one of my closest friends on the League while he was there." She took a seat across from Smith, but upright and partially on the edge of the seat. "Well, I am certain your attorney would not want you talking too much about your case to us, and we are not here to try to learn anything that could be used against you in the case either." She replied briefly before continuing. "I am sure there is a great deal about the device that you know that I do not, which is why we are here." She began. "But what I do know is that what you had in your possession, for what was apparently several thousand years, was a piece of a prototype device that was created in the future. Hronos and I, along with a number of others, recovered the other two parts a few months ago. Several months before that, I, along with another hero, recovered the device that is the finished product of the prototype, a Stopwatch, also from the future and planted in the past and keyed to a certain individual. That individual…someone very close to me, was able to control time with the Stopwatch, but it also asserted a fair amount of control over him, making him act in ways he normally would not." "That individual has been taken from the present, and very likely out of this timestream, by an organization in the future that is after by the Stopwatch and the parts of the prototype, including the piece that you possessed. They want those devices to help them combat a threat in the future, not just to this timeline, but, at least according to them, to every timeline. I have every reason to believe they have taken him to a null time, a place they are able to operate from outside the normal flow of time. I need to try to go and rescue him, and your knowledge of the device may be the only thing that could help us get to this null time."

Getting to John Smith's house had been a bit slow, at least from Velocity's perspective. While she could have gotten there in mere moments from Freedom Hall, Hronos had taken a little bit longer, and it really did not make much sense for her to arrive before him given his prior interactions with Smith. So, she had been left with having to hope that they were not taking too much time. "Good evening Mr. Smith." The speedster stated after Hronos had made the brief introductions. "I am sorry for our intrusion, but we could really use your assistance the piece of the device you used to have possession of and its properties to manipulate time."

Thug 1 just misses the toughness save with a 20, but is still out regardless. Thug 2 also misses with a http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4282077/'>18, so he is out as well. Go ahead and post the beat downs IC.

Deciding that she no longer wanted to try to run from whomever was down below, now that they apparently knew she was here, Crimson Tiger turned and started back down the stairs. She only got a short distance when she came across two guys dressed in cheap suits with pistols in hand that were on their way up. The one in the front turned out to have pretty good reflexes, as his eyes went wide and he quickly leveled his pistol. "What the $&@#?" He exclaimed as he fired off a round. As quick as his reflexes were, his aim left a lot to be desired, and the bullet sailed well over Crimson Tiger's head, hitting the wall on the landing above her.

Wow, one of them did the best he could, getting a 21, the other only got a 7. But he comes nowhere near Crimson as he shoots, only getting a 10. Go ahead, I imagine this will be short and sweet now (they are close enough for takedown attack)

Maybe the next thread for the Bloodhound Detective Agency needs to involve a dog show?
-
Well, Harry can turn into a dog! (and certainly has the cowardly act down pat as well ). Anyway, those are all likely good ideas, just know what you want to pursue first (or if splitting up, who will go where).

Velocity listened as Hronos spoke, though she had already thought of much of what he stated, what she had not, she was able to consider at great length in a faction of a second. "I fully realize that we will likely be at something of a disadvantage, if not walking into an outright trap. But at the moment the other members of the Freedom League Auxiliary are not available, and while I could try to contact other League members, or even other heroes I know, I am not certain we have the luxury of a great deal of time to try to do so." "While normally I recognize that time travel should allow us to go to wherever Robert has been taken and arrive just after he does, if not at the same moment. But given the likelihood that he has been taken to a null time, I am not so certain we can count things working as they normally would. The more time we take getting there, the more time Robert could be there in danger." "As for pulling in other League members, there is also the fact that this really involves a personal issue for me. While I am certain any of the other League members would not hesitate to help me if I ask, I am not so comfortable with pulling too many of them out of this timestream without an absolute need to do so. I will contact Deadalus to let him know what is going on and what we are doing, so, if it becomes necessary, some of them can try to follow us. But for now, it is probably just best if it is you and I going." She paused a moment and gave a wry smile. "And don't worry, I should have something in store to help counter some of the advantages they might have," she tapped her goggles as she spoke. "So, the question is, how can we try and follow them." She then added. "I was thinking we might try speaking with the John Smith you told me about, as he seems to know a good bit about the fragments of the prototype Stopwatch."

So, ideas on what to do next in terms of investigtion?

Vince gave Carmen an overly dramatic look of insult as she mentioned having to settle for just finishing his interview, then gave a small shrug as she went on about the claims that a curse was coming for them all. "Well, even if I did believe in the curse, what could I do about it?" He replied. "You heard Uncle Sergio, this has supposedly stalked our family for close to five centuries, if no one has been able to do anything about it in all that time, why would now be any different?" "Just because Cimitiere seems to have some magical talent does not prove there is any curse." His uncle Paul stated as he came over near Vince and Carmen. "Really Paul, after what we just saw, what you have heard about our family, and even experienced forty years ago when your older brother died? You still do not believe in the curse?" Asked Frank, who had also been walking by, stopping by the group. Paul looked over to the younger man as he smirked slightly. "No, I don't Frank. It will take more than Sergio's rantings and a little seance to prove that there is some great curse that will start killing us all off come tomorrow. Now, as we have some time before dinner, I have some calls I need to make. The studio doesn't run itself." Paul gave a judgmental glance at Vince as he spoke before focusing back on Frank. "I would expect you might have a few you might need to make as well, you do run a multi-billion dollar hedge fund Frank." With that, Paul turned and made his way out of the room.
-
Jonathan moved up to push Sergio's wheelchair, and the pair led Nick out of the sitting room where the seance had been held and into the main hallway. As they went, the aged patriarch of the family replied to Nick's question about the various wards on the grounds. "A rather wide variety Mr. Cimitiere." Sergio stated in his rasping voice. "A number of Catholic priests have been asked to bless the grounds throughout my family's history here, from the day this building was completed to just over forty years ago. Beyond that, there have been a few rabbis, an Imam, a Voodoo priestess and, as I mentioned earlier, a great uncle of mine that was rumored to perform Satanic rituals in parts of the basement." The three had made their way into a side hallway where Nick found an elevator had been installed. It was a short ride up to the third floor of the main part of the house, and then a short walk to a large study. Inside, Nick found a large room with fifteen foot ceilings that featured detailed crown molding. Several of the walls were covered with tall oak bookcases filled with old, leather bound books. A large fireplace took up most of on wall, with smaller bookcases spaced a bit further away from it, and on the wall opposite the fireplace, there was a large table among the bookcases that was covered with old maps and stacks of paper. "Here you are Mr. Cimitiere, the history of the D'Ascenzo's, and everything else I could find over my long lifetime regarding our family or the general history of the Venezia region of Italy over the last five hundred years." Sergio stated as he gestured at the bookshelves around the room.

Crimson Tiger quickly reached the next landing, coming to a halt and listening down below her. She could hear the footsteps of whomever it was that had been coming up as they reached the landing to the garage level. There was a pause and she heard a whispered voice speaking, likely into a radio, "no sign of whoever you saw coming in, they must've gone up. We’ll check it out." She then heard footsteps coming up the stairs… Down below in the room where the fighters were all gathered, Harry was still seated where he had been directed by the guys running the place as he noticed Lucy making her way back over towards him after speaking with one of the guards in the room. The rumpled private investigator noted the suspicious look on the guard's face as he watched Lucy go for a moment and then started towards the door they had come in through from the hallway, glancing once over his shoulder towards Lucy again as he went…

So, the thugs totally do not hear Crimson sneaking up to the next level. So Freddy is being oblivious (as happens), will handle Harry in a sec…
-
Okay, going to get to what is going on with Crimson in a moment. Cape, what is Freddy doing after the other fighter stalks off? Continue warming up? Also, what is Harry doing while Freddy and Lucy are trying to learn more? Tiff, we talked in chat about what Lucy will likely do next (ie head back to where Harry is), let me know if you have a different idea. I could use Notice checks for Lucy, Freddy and Harry.
-
Fair enough Cape, I had meant to put a in there, but forgot to when I cut and pasted the post from Word

The other fighter had taken a half step back as Mess gave his nasty grin and comments, but then stopped and snarled back at Freddy. "I never said I thought what was going on with Diaz was right, but I also don't want to end up dead with him either." He commented before turning away and stalking off towards another part of the large room. The thug considered Lucy for a brief moment before he replied in a rather flat voice, "I would not worry your pretty little head about Diaz, could bring trouble you don't want. Best to get back to cheering up the fighter you came here with."

Well, he actually did not miss by that much, the other guy only got a 12. What sort of effect was Mess trying for anyway?

Cape, as discussed the other day in chat, here is the stunted alternate device Daedalus put together for Velocity: Device 1: Super-Sense 5 (Extended for normal vision, Radius for all vision, Counters Concealment) (5 PP) So, a hero point for power stunting this alt (though, arguably, she should get a hero point for Robert being kidnapped )

In the short time it took Hronos to travel from the Daily Word building to Freedom Hall, Velocity had not been idle. The speedster had stopped by the building’s laboratories, where she picked up modified version of the goggles she wore in costume. After the various incidents with the time agents and their robot operatives, Velocity had asked Daedalus to work on a version of the goggles that would allow her to see through the visual concealment the time agents and their other operatives used. When she received word that Hronos had arrived in the reception area of Freedom Hall, the speedster had already replaced the goggles she normally wore with the modified ones. A moment later she was skidding to a halt in the reception area, where Hronos had been greeted by Cynthia. "Hi, thanks for coming so quick on short notice." She said in greeting as she led Hronos down a hallway to a small conference room. "I would not have called so out of the blue like this, but I have a major problem. Robert was kidnapped by one of those time agents, and I assume taken to some other time, or more likely a null time that they operate out of."
