Giang had been focused on maintaining the flow of water that was carrying the small platform upriver, while also keeping an eye of the water below them for any signs of anything large that might be heading toward them. When Kazra voiced her questions, the Asian teen looked over to the young girl. "I am afraid I cannot say why you have never seen anyone who resembles me." She began. "But I can confirm that I am indeed from Earth, just a different region from John, Cerys or Subito. I am originally from a country on a continent called Asia, and it is the most populous continent on Earth, so there are actually a considerable number of people who look more like me."

Once again the mini-sub fails its toughness save, but only taking another injury status. (it would be dazed, but as it is a inanimate object, it cannot be dazed, but is knocked back/downward (or whatever other direction you were striking toward) about 25 feet or so). Go ahead and post IC.

Thursday, April 18, 2013 5:30 AM Claremont Academy, Bayview, Freedom City, NJ "And that was the last thing Warp remembers before passing out in her dorm room after teleporting back." Duncan Summers finished explaining, a hint of fatigue in his voice. The retired superhero turned educator was sitting in his recently rebuilt office at Claremont Academy, his prior office having been all but destroyed during the events of the Day of Wrath a few months earlier. "And how is Warp doing?" Came a dark voice speaking from within the shadows of a corner of Duncan’s office. The speaker was none other than his daughter, Callie Summers, the current Raven, and she was there in costume. Duncan had little doubt that his daughter had been up much of the night already, working on some case or another, but if she was feeling any fatigue from the early hour, she was doing a much better job of hiding it. "She is in the infirmary still, but doing well. Whatever was used to knock her out has left her considerably groggy, but there will be no lingering effects." Duncan replied. "And there is no sign of Tsunami, El Heraldo or Net Fly?" Raven then asked, though she knew well enough the answer. "No, none of them have returned to campus. Based on what I have learned, the fire department was called to a fire at the address Warp provided, but when they arrived there was no longer any active blaze, though evidence that there had been a fire. They currently have cordoned off the building, planning to further inspect it in a few hours when there is better light." "Good, then they likely have not contaminated the scene yet. I have a bit of time to get in there and look around before they do." Raven replied. "Don't worry, I will find them." The heroine then began moving towards one of the office's windows. "I have little doubt." Duncan replied, eyeing his daughter hesitantly. "But…are you certain you should investigate this alone? You know very well that he could be involved." Raven stopped a moment before the glanced back over at her father. "Yes, I am fully aware of that possibility. But this is my responsibility, I was the one that brought Giang here, knowing full well her family's background." And with that, the dark clad heroine was gone out the window, vanishing into the still dark morning sky. Still seated in his chair, Duncan stared out of the window to where his daughter had disappeared from view. While normally he had full confidence in her abilities and decisions, where Dr. Sin was possibly involved, he was a bit more concerned. Letting out a deep sigh, Duncan reached for the telephone at his desk and dialed a familiar number. "Alan, I am sorry about the early hour, but I need to speak with Ms. Pefr, Ms. Baudin and Mr. Crowe immediately."

A bright sudden light seemed to pierce the darkness in Giang Trang's mind, thought the sudden flood of light only served to make her head spin as she tried to see through the blinding glare. There were a few fuzzy shapes in her field of vision, and she was rather certain she could hear someone speaking, but had trouble making out any of the words. Through the disorientation and grogginess, the Asian teen suddenly became aware of how sore her body felt. As she tried to shift some, she became aware that her arms were bound behind her back and she seemed to have other restraints on as well that made it difficult to move too much. That realization helped push aside some of the haze in her mind, as the teen took deep breaths to keep herself calm as she tried to focus on what was around her. As she waited for her eyes to adjust to the light and her vision to focus, Giang tried to focus on sensing any water around her, both to try and find a focus and a potential resource for trying to escape. But try as she might, the teen was unable to sense any water at all. A slight sense of panic began to rear up, but Giang continued to take slow steady breaths as she closed her eyes for a few moments and focused on bringing her emotions back under control. After a few moments, she had managed to calm herself at least somewhat and slowly reopened her eyes. This time, the light was not quite nearly as blinding, though her head still hurt and the feeling of grogginess was still there. The fuzzy shapes were much clearer now, as the Asian teen realized she was in some sort of aircraft, and there were a number of armed men sitting across from her. The realization brought another surge of panic, along with a rush of her last memories before waking up here. Those memories brought a cold feeling to her stomach, as she glanced to either side, confirming that Subito and Serge were both seated next to her, also restrained as she was. Focusing back on the men across from her, she noted their garb, and their Asian heritage, and the feelings of dread that had been present seemed to double. Not only had her past appeared to have caught up with her again, but her friends had been entangled in it as well.

Thursday, April 18, 2013 8:50 PM local time (5:50 AM, April 18, 2013 in Freedom City) Somewhere over the South Pacific GM The still night sky over the South Pacific was briefly disrupted by the sleek form of an advanced hypersonic transport as it streaked through the thin air at high altitude. Designed with stealth in mind, the transport was nearly impossible to detect by conventional mean, which allowed it to follow a rather direct route to its destination. Inside the aircraft’s main cabin, three rather unusual teenagers (two male, one female) had been bound to a set of jump seats set up in the middle of the cargo area. Each of the three had their arms bound together behind their backs by primary restraints affixed around their wrists and forearms. Additional restraints, crossing over their chests and arms, held them to their jump seats and helped to keep them upright, as all three were currently unconscious. Additional restraints bound their ankles together. All three of the teens were wearing costumes, which varied from rather subdued to quite colorful (at least in one case). Standing watch over the unconscious superteens were a group of men dressed in black and grey, gi like uniforms made of reinforced Kevlar material. Each wore a black tactical belt around their waists with a sidearm and a number of small pouches attached. All of the men were armed with what appeared to be some form of energy weapon, either immediately in hand, or very close by. All of the men were clearly of some Asian descent, thought to a more knowledgeable observe, it was apparent they hailed from a number of different countries. Six of the men were seated around the three teens, three to either side, their weapons cradled in their hands, ready to use should any of the teens awaken and show any sign of escaping their restraints. Another half dozen were seated towards the front of the aircraft, somewhat more relaxed, but with their weapons within easy reach. One of the men seated closest to the three teens was starting to feel himself wanting to drift to sleep, a feeling he fought, as he tried to focus on the teens, looking for any sign of movement beyond steadying breathing or a slight shift caused by turbulence or the like. But event that was beginning to feel monotonous, when he suddenly realized the three were appearing to stir. The realization brought him fully awake, as he focused on the movements, confirming his eyes had not been playing tricks on him. <"They are starting to wake!"> He stated in slightly accented Mandarin. The other five guards closest to the teens all sat up a bit straighter, many tightening their grips on their weapons as well. Over towards the front of the aircraft, the other six men also became more alert, focusing on the teens once more, a few picking up their weapons. One of the six glanced at a watch on his wrist, then looked back up towards the teens. <"It does not matter, we should be landing very soon.">

Velocity listened as Foreshadow interjected some of this thoughts and ideas on what might be going on. Once he had finished, the yellow clad speedster was quiet for a few moments. "I certainly agree you likely have considerable more experience in dealing with organized crime, but from what I heard Luiza saying, what is going on here might be far closer to what the League tends to deal with." "While it could well be that these 'sisters' only have charisma and other normal influence, that certainly is not how Luiza made it sound. While it could certainly just be empty rhetoric, she certainly made it sound like far more than simple influence. She told me the force guiding them was ‘'oo strong' for me to be able to stop, calling it a power that was spreading like a plague. She said all the powerful and influential groups she railed against where being 'swept up' by the sisters. Unless all that is simple posturing, it certainly sounds like something more is going on here." The young woman paused again a brief moment, then frowned slightly. "Now I wish I had at least taken that mask she offered me before turning her invitation down. I would really like to see what it was about right now. That could somehow be a part of all of this, as Luiza and all the women that seemed to be helping stir up the crowd were wearing them."
-
It should take only one move action.

Velocity regarded the Ana for a few brief moments when the artist commented on how quickly she worked, and how the speedster’s perspective of time was likely rather unusual. "My perspective on time is likely quite different than most." She said in agreement before focusing on the more pressing issue at hand. "Well, that is really the question isn't it?" The heroine began. "What did she mean? For the most part she mentioned various government agencies or branches in her complaints of oppression, but then specifically mentioned the criminal organization La Rosa. From what I have read, there may well be a connection between La Rosa and some corrupt elements in the government, but I am sure La Rosa is not unique in that. There must be other criminal groups beyond La Rosa, why did she not name them as well?" "There seem to be a number of possibilities, either Luiza and some other like minded individuals are behind all this, targeting the government elements they see as corrupt and La Rosa as well for some unknown reason. Or, there could be some other individual/force behind all this, manipulating Luiza and those helping her, and that unknown entity could either be seeking to destabilize the government, or are specifically seeking to harm La Rosa." "Whatever the goal is, from what Luiza had to say, her and those helping her appear to have some means of influencing others, be that some form of mass mind control, or perhaps even some sort of mass drugging by some means. It seems rather clear that they believe they have some means of spreading their influence, and in particular by the efforts of other 'sisters." "So we need to see how we can learn how they plan to do that and disrupt those plans."
-
Probably should have done this a bit ago, but here is a Gather Info (via Well Informed) check for Velocity to see what she knows about La Rosa: 24.

Elegy, I am likely not one of the veterans you wanted advice from, but I would like to start by saying you get a lot of credit for jumping right in and trying to GM a few threads, not to mention writing long solo threads for your character. I only have a character in one of your threads, but I would certainly say I find that one interesting and am looking forward to it moving forward. Right now, I think there is a bit of a double whammy of summertime and people just being busy with work and/or RL. So, people are a bit slow in posting. You should not feel hesitant to check with a player if it has been awhile since their last post and they are what is holding things up. Also, it might be helpful to jump on chat for a bit when you can. It is a nice way to provide others a gentle reminder that they need to post. It is also a very good way to get to know the others players on the site and is a very good way for thread ideas to develop. That can go a long way to your other goals, getting more involved in the setting and the community. The threads you are currently GMing are also good at getting your character more tied to the setting, as they are providing introductions to other characters. But, that is only useful if you find ways to build something out of those connections (which again is where chat can be a very useful way to speed along that process). Also, it has been recognized by some of us that we need to try to do a bit more to help integrate new players to the setting, unfortunately there is still a lot more that could be done to do that. I have expressed a willingness to try to GM some threads for newer players to help get them involved, and I believe there are some others willing to help with that as well. All in all, I believe you have shown a lot of initiative, and it may take a little bit of time, but I am sure you can get Gloaming more involved in the setting and in other threads and GM some great threads along the way.

Velocity regarded Luiza a moment, somewhat disappointed that the woman was so quick to turn hostile, but supposed it was inevitable. What the singer had to say about the movement was somewhat unsettling, and certainly suggested that there was more to what was going on than met the eye. "Look, I have never killed anyone, and I hope that I never have to, so I certainly have no intention of starting with you. I would prefer to even arrest you, let alone have to fight you. But if you give me no choice, it may come to me having to arrest you. As for stopping whatever you have in motion, well, that remains to be seen." With that, the speedster was gone in a blur of yellow, making her way back to where she had left Foreshadow, Graft and Lady Brazil. "Well, no sign of any devices like the one used on the police chief, but I think I may have more of an idea of what is going on." She stated as she came to a halt near the group. The young woman then recounted her encounter with Luiza.

Player Name Thevshi Character Name: Synapse Power Level: 12 (241/250PP) Trade-Offs: -2 Def/+2 Toughness Unspent Power Points: 9 In Brief: Rebellious genius Englishwoman with mental powers. Alternate Identity: "Dee" Farrington; Lady Dawn Farrington Identity: Secret Birthplace: Bournemouth, England Occupation: Activist Affiliations: Ministry of Powers (not by choice), Vanguard Family: Lord Erasums Farrington (11th Earl Farrington (father)); Lady Margret Farrington (mother); Lady Susan Farrington (twin sister); Edward Farrington (Viscount Farrington (brother)); Erick Slone (Foreshadow II; Fiancé) Age: 29 (DOB: 5/18/1990) Gender: Female Height: 5' 7" Weight: 120 lbs Eyes: Blue Hair: Black, with green stripes (naturally blonde) Dee is slightly taller than average, with a slim build. Though an attractive young woman, that attractiveness is somewhat diminished by her generally irritable disposition. Her shoulder length hair is black, with a few colored streaks (the color of which varies from time to time between green, blue, magenta, purple and orange), though her natural hair color is blonde. Dee typically dresses in dark jeans, with T-shirts (typically with a band logo or some political statement on them) and a black leather jacket. Dee has a number of piercings in each ear, as well as tongue and bellybutton piercings. She also has gotten a few tattoos over the years. One is a grouping of Chinese characters on her left shoulder blade. The other is of a black circle made of twisted thorn branches on her lower back. Power Descriptions: Synapse's Telekinesis, Forcefield, Mental Blast and Paralyze attack all involve a manifestation of red psychic energy that are readily visible. Her Mind Control and Telepathy, are considerably more subtle in nature, making them somewhat more difficult to detect by either the target or others with mental awareness super-senses. History: Dawn was born into an aristocratic family in the United Kingdom. Much of her early life was spent in either London, where her father serves on the House of Lords, or at her family's estate in Dorset, most often in the care of nannies hired by her parents to help raise her and her siblings. The family's head butler, Arthur Winston-Smythe was also a prominent figure in caring for the Farrington children, traveling between London and Dorset with the family. Growing up, Dawn and her twin sister Susan were inseparable, as one would expect of twins. Their older brother, Edward, was somewhat distant, but it did not matter much as they had each other, particularly when their parents began to send them off to expensive boarding schools. In his position in the House of Lords, Dawn's father worked closely with the Ministry of Powers and was a strong supporter of Taskforce UK. In particular, Lord Farrington was a close associate of the team's mentalist, Headcase. When the Ministry revived its Powers Project, Headcase convinced Lord Farrington to include Dawn and her twin sister Susan in the Psi Initiative, confident he could induce psychic powers in the two girls. The two girls were subjected to the process, with Headcase himself directly involved. Over the course of several weeks over the summer when the girls were eleven, they underwent the process. When it was over, both girls had gained mental powers. However, something had gone awry in Susan's case, the process causing damage to her psyche, driving the girl insane. Headcase was forced to subdue her, and drugs were used to suppress her powers. Dawn's parents had no choice but to commit Susan to a private mental hospital, where she could be provided the best around the clock care, and carefully kept be out of the public eye. In Dawn's case, the process was far more successful, as her psyche had not been harmed, at least by the psi initiative process. The fate of her sister, and her parents reaction in quietly tucking Susan away, served to create a rebellious attitude in Dawn (who began refusing to acknowledge that name, insisting on being called "Dee" instead), as she blamed her parents, and in particular her father, for what had happened to Susan. Always an extremely bright girl, Dee began to do everything she could to act out against her parents. In addition to generally being as difficult as she could, Dee began dying her hair; eventually got additional body piercings and tattoos; and otherwise generally acting as unladylike as possible. During the times she was home (either in Dorset or London), she would regularly sneak out at night, either going to concerts or nightclubs. Unbeknownst to her, during those late night outings, she was often followed by Arthur, the family's butler, who had for a time served as an agent in MI6, as he did his best to keep her from coming to harm. Her behavior carried over to the boarding schools her parents sent her off to, including incidents such as mixing together a chemical formula to generate massive amounts of smoke in chemistry class (and thus causing an evacuation of the building) to repeated violations of school curfew and other rules. Among the prestigious boarding schools she got herself kicked out of were Brighton College, Queen Ethelburga's College (York), Wycombe Abbey, and Cheltenham Ladies' College. As much as Dee hated her parents, she despised Headcase even more. Unfortunately, over the years she was required to have regular meetings with the mentalist, as he helped her learn to use and control her ever strengthening powers. Despite her rebellious behavior and expulsion from several boarding schools, Dee eventually attended Oxford University. Dee's rebelliousness subsided somewhat, in large part due to the fact that the university was far less restrictive than her boarding schools, and the fact she wanted to be there. While she still enjoyed having a good time, she had little trouble maintain excellent marks. It was early during her time at Oxford that Headcase took Dee (despite her protests) to meet the other members of Vanguard. Unlike so many others, she was not overly impressed with Champion. Certainly he was powerful, but to her, he was just a figurehead for the status quo. Y Dderwen was rather inscrutable, and the young woman did not quite know what to make of him. Lucy on the other hand, she found to be rather cool, even if the older heroine was working with the government. After finishing her degree, Dee ignored her father's attempts to steer her towards going into research work with corporations at which he had connections or for the government. Instead, the young woman joined a human rights group and left England to spend a year teaching and working on aid projects in Africa. After returning from Africa, Dee was contacted by the Ministry of Powers to be part of a new Vanguard and help search for the whereabouts of the previous team. Dee’s life has gone through some radical changes since she joined Vanguard. At present she is the last remaining member of the new Vanguard team crated by the Ministry of Powers to replace the original, all of the other members having since been replaced by others for various reasons. But perhaps the most significant change was when Dee met Erick Slone (Foreshadow II) at the Winter Games in Sochi and the two immediately hit it off. The couple have been together ever since and are currently engaged and expecting their first child. Personality & Motivation: As a first impression, Dee generally comes off as rather irritable, though she can be generally pleasant as long as someone does not do anything to aggravate her. Unfortunately, it is not that difficult to aggravate her. For the most part, Dee is happiest when she is left alone to do what she wants. In addition to a rebellious streak, Dee is also something of a thrill seeker, one who loves racing motorcycles, or extreme snowboarding. Although there is a great deal of anger, and even hatred, directed at her parents (and to a lesser degree, her older brother), there is still a part of Dee that cares about them, though she is extremely reluctant to show it. Being a superheroine has never been anything Dee has strived for, particularly if it meant working with the Ministry of Powers. However, she reluctantly realizes that despite what she might feel about the government in general, and the Ministry of Powers in particular, choosing not to do anything could well lead to innocents being hurt. Powers & Tactics: Thus far, Dee has had little in the way of combat experience, and thus has not developed any particular tactics relating to her powers. She has learned to use her telekinesis to protect herself with a forcefield, and will almost always put up the forcefield if she gets into combat. She also has generally sought to avoid using her powers in general. However, she learned to control her powers as they grew in strength over the years, in order to avoid them accidentally going out of control. Complications: Twin Sister: Susan is still perhaps the single most important thing in Dee's life and the young woman is determined to take care of Susan the rest of her life. Dee hopes that someday she might be able to find a way to repair Susan's psyche and restore her sanity. The "bad girl": A number of tabloids have carried pictures of Dee over the years (and some of her wild antics), so she has developed at least a small amount of fame (or infamy, depending on who you ask) as a result. There has to be a story here: Besides the general tabloid attention Dee occasionally gets, one investigative reporter, Billy Bunting, has heard some rumors about the Ministry of Powers having some sort of psychic powers program, and that it might be somehow connected to the Farrington family. He is determined to find out if there is anything to these rumors. Another reason to hate that guy!: For some reason, whether by accident or specific design, Headcase's tinkering with Dee's mind to induce her powers has left her particularly vulnerable to his abilities. If targeted by Headcase's powers, Dee automatically fails her saving throw for a HP. Okay, so asking around, Harry is able to learn that some time ago Carl was a somewhat accomplished while serving in the Navy between the Korean and Vietnam wars. After he left the service, he began coaching, and had a fair bit of success locally with his fighters. Twenty years ago, he bought the gym from the previous owner, but kept the name as it was. Since the rise of mixed martial arts fighting, both he and the gym have lost some of their prestige, but he still is known to turn out rather skilled boxers. There are rumors he is somehow tied up with the mob, but nothing solid on that. So, will wait for some posts giving me an idea what the plan is for now.

Giang's quick reflexes once again saved her from the brunt of the torpedo's shockwave. Swimming around the explosion, the Asian teen once again brought her hands up to send a powerful blast of water towards the mini-submarine. The two twisting coils of water that shot forth quickly crossed the distance between the teenager and her target. This time, the driver's manoeuvring proved inadequate, as the powerful jet of water struck the submersible. The craft shook violently, the hull taking some damage from the impact as the craft was pushed back a dozen yards or so. But otherwise, the craft remained fully functional, the pilot quickly righting it once more.

Round Five 22 Tsunami (bruised, 2 HP) 20 Glamazon (unharmed, 1 HP) 2 Manta 2 (injured) Tsunami will repeat the Power Attack from last round (-2/+2). Again, she just misses, but I will spend a hero point to reroll. This time getting a 13, which is increased to 23 with the hero point, so she hits. The sub gets a 20 on its tough save (vs DC 27), so it is damaged (ie injured). Glamazon is up!
-
GM The pilot of the mini-submarine felt a bit more confident in his decision to engage the teenage girl when he managed to evade her attack. Straightening out once more, the man lined up the front of the mini-sub for another attack, launching another torpedo towards the teen. The small torpedo sliced through the water, straight for its target, exploding a short distance in front of her. Once again there was another explosion, the sound of which echoed through the water. For a brief moment, the mercenary thought he might have hit the teen, as the brief flame and shockwave caused by the explosion masked her from view. But then she emerged around one side of the shockwave, once again appearing uninjured.
-
The mini-sub fires another torpedo at Tsunami, once again she makes her Reflex save, and avoids all damage thanks to Evasion.

Yes, it was a type-o that won't happen on the real character sheet. Ari, we already talked about that in chat. Not every hero shows a history of being a great and wonderful person that is clearly destined to be a hero. I would imagine she has done a number of charity volunteering and protesting in the past, not sure I need to delve deep into that though.

Much of her early life was spent in either London, where her father serves on the House of Lords, or at her family's estate in Dorset, most often in the care of nannies hired by her parents to help raise her and her siblings. The family's head butler, Arthur Winston-Smythe was also a prominent figure in caring for the Farrington children, traveling between London and Dorest with the family. It was only a little over a month ago that Dee returned from her time in Africa. However, she learned to control her powers as they grew in strength over the years, in order to avoid them accidently going out of control. Giang came to a halt as she shockwave from the explosion dissipated around her. Turning back toward the mini-sub, the Asian teen briefly considered her options. She could likely easily outrun the submarine and continue on towards the temples in the centre of town, but then the mini-sub would be able to continue on towards Thaelia, or otherwise cause more damage. Deciding that she could likely afford a brief stop to try to deal with the mini-sub, Giang swam forward slightly before extending both hands out in front of her, sending a powerful blast of water towards the vessel. But the Asian teen quickly realized that perhaps she had focused a bit too much on the power of her attack, sacrificing accuracy, as the mini-sub just veered aside to avoid the attack.
