Round Four (sort of): 22 Tsunami (bruised, 2 HP) 20 Glamazon (unharmed, 1 HP) 11 Beta Merc 4 2 Manta 2 Tsunami will power attack the mini-sub she has run into (-2 atk/+2 dam), getting a 16 on her attack roll, which misses. Glamazon is up, and she likely heard the explosion of the torpedo, and can easily follow after the fleeing merc if she wishes.

Velocity listened to Luiza with a faint frown, noting the mood of the crowd around them at the woman’s words. "Look, I certainly will not deny that women face a number of difficulties, if not outright oppression, all around the world. But your arguments are merely a series of generalizations, and not completely accurate. The United States, while not perfect, has improved greatly from what it once was like. And last I checked, Brazil had a female president, something the United States has yet to do." "If you feel you are oppressed and want to protest, that is fine, I fully support that. But you appear to be calling for violence, against a number of people, based solely on your generalizations about oppression. And I cannot support that."

Like Mali, Giang was somewhat surprised by the attention that one of the two young men in the group decided to pay her, and she was not any more interested in it than her friend was. Unlike Mali, Giang was more willing to politely rebuff the advance and think nothing more of it, assuming the young man did not try to push the issue. "Thank you, but I doubt I would be interested." She stated simply as Vicky interjected, trying to steer the two away from the rest of the group for a bit. The Asian teen could not help but agree with the comment by the last member of the group, as she moved to pick up some of the other nearby litter. "Eliza is correct, it is best to focus on the task at hand."

Even as she continued to try to distract Madame Marvelous, Velocity was watching the events going on around her. While the villainess appeared to be distracted, or at least doing a very convincing job or pretending to be, her two henchwomen were aware something was up. At any moment Crimson Crush was going to reach the upper level where several Merges had just taken out Marvelous' henchmen, and Asad and another Merge were going to be there at any moment. So, it was time to act…. "But really," the yellow clad speedster began, suddenly focused and serious once more, "I am here to stop whatever you have planned and to brining you in!" Then, in a blur of yellow, she was moving, seemingly everywhere in the room at once. Several loud *CRACK*s echoed in the room seemingly at the exact same moment, as Velocity launched supersonic punches at Madame Marvelous, Mini Marvelous and Crimson Crush as she moved quickly through the room. However, the speedster’s timing was off, and she failed to land her attacks on any of the three. Reappearing near where she had started a split second later, the speedster was tensed and ready for any counter attack as she added, in a low, self depreciating tone, "or maybe not."

GM The remaining mercenary clearly appeared to be suffering from the emotion that Thaelia suggested he should be experiencing, the weapon in hands shaking slightly as he regarded the angry Atlanetan teen. Realizing that it was likely futile to continue fighting her, the man turned and began to swim away as quickly as he can. As he went, he activated his radio. "I am the only one left in Beta. Falling back to Beta’s original target location for extraction!" Assuming I can even make it there. He thought, as he glanced back over his shoulder and continued swimming as quickly as he could. Elsewhere, The pilot of Manta 2 guided his mini-sub low over the buildings of Crantorium as he made his way to try to assist and extract the remaining members of Beta squad. As he heard the transmission from the remaining member of the team, he cursed slightly under his breath, preparing to alter his course towards the original drop off location. However, at that point, he spotted a figure swimming out ahead, one that matched the description that had been provided on one of the teenagers that had been causing so much trouble. A slight grin coming to his face, he turned the bow of his mini-sub slightly, and fired a torpedo at the teen. The girl had spotted his approach, and saw the torpedo as it cut through the water towards her. Exploding a short distance away, the teenage girl somehow managed to swim aside to avoid any of the torpedo's shockwave. She then turned to regard the mini-sub, causing the pilot to reconsider his course of action.

Merc 4 is deciding to run, making two movement actions to try to get away from Glamazon (though she can easily catch up with a single move action). Tsunami meanwhile has run into the mini-sub that was on the way to pick up the ambush team, which shoots a torpedo at her. She gets a 18 on her Reflex save, just enough to avoid the effect of the explosion (thanks to Evasion).

Ari, TA, I would be up for trying to put this together. Was the thought that the hook for Asad would be DeCosta being involved in his revitalization plans in the Fens and something happens to disrupt some of those projects?

Even with a 21 he blows it and is out. Post away!

Velocity remained calm as the singer called out insults at her, even spiting towards her feet (as if she would have been able to just spit on the speedster if she had wanted to anyway!). While the heroine was a bit concerned about the agitated state her apparently inflammatory singing was bringing to the crowd, she had to admit that Luiza had a point about free speech, even if it was not something recognized in Brazil. "While I might find myself working together with the American government at times, I am far from being blinded to its problems." She replied when the singer had finished her rant. "But you are right, there is nothing wrong with expressing your opinions through speech, and I am certainly not here to stop you from voicing them. And I will admit I am not as informed about your cause as I perhaps should be, so perhaps you will enlighten me?"

Beneath the waves, Tsunami had finished creating her hard water barriers in an attempt to stop the chemical from leaking out into the ocean. She noted that while she had for the most part contained the spill, there was still some of the purple chemical that was seeping out into the wider ocean. The Asian teen frowned slightly, but for the moment could do nothing about that, as her powers were primarily focused on maintaining the barriers. When she spotted the large great white approaching her, Tsunami was somewhat concerned. The shark appeared to have possible been in the cloud of purple chemicals, meaning it could be infected by whatever those chemicals were. While it was certainly heading right towards her, the Asian teen did not want to automatically presume that it was hostile, and in any event, her ability to deal with it was greatly curtailed at the moment. So, she decided to put a bit of space between her and the shark for the moment, to see if it continued to follow her, and if it did, she could lead it away from Ironclad. Now that her barriers were in place, Tusnami did not need to stay in visual range to keep them up, so she could afford to lead the shark away some before doubling back to the site of the spill.
-
Okay, Tsunami does not want to automatically assume the shark is going to be aggressive, seeing as she does not know what the purple stuff does at the moment. So, she will move away about 200 feet, putting some distance between her and the shark, and using her standard action for Total Defense, bringing her defense up to +14 total.
-
Hmmmm, what to do? Velocity will use her Rapid Attack power (200’ radius, targeted, selective attack), targeting the three villainesses and using Defensive Attack (-2 atk/+2 def) and Power Attack (-2 atk/+2 dam). This puts her at +10 attack, +18 defense (for a total of 28) and +10 damage (if she hits). But, with a 13 on her attack roll, I doubt she hit anyone, unless anyone is flatfooted.

Round Three: 22 Tsunami (bruised, 2 HP) 20 Glamazon (unharmed, 1 HP) 11 Beta Merc 5 11 Beta Merc 4 Okay, on to round three, with Tsunami moving on, Glamazon is up. Also, I am replacing the hero point you just spent, as you are allowing the bad guys to delay you.

Giang watched with a slight bit of apprehension as Thaelia was hit by blasts from both the remaining mercenaries simultaneously. It was apparent that this time her friend had felt the attack to some degree. While Giang knew her roommate was quite tough, she slightly hesitated in following Thaelia's request that she move on after Natas and his main objective. But the Asian teen knew her friend was right. These mercenaries were only serving to delay them, and though they had almost managed to harm Thaelia, Giang had little doubt the Atlantean would quickly deal with another, leaving only one left. It was also very evident that Thaelia could more quickly catch up with Giang than the other way around. "Be careful." Giang stated simply before turning and starting off once again in the direction they had been heading before the ambush had been sprung.
-
GM As Thaelia swam over and took out the last of the mercenaries in this group that had been targeting Giang thus far, the two remaining mercenaries briefly considered their options. It was quite apparent that they were losing. But they also had little illusion about outdistancing either of the teenagers, given the speed they had seen the two move thus far. Their only option for potentially escaping was to hold out until the min-sub arrived. To that end, they once again attempted to time their attacks against Thaelia. This time, their tactic met with a bit more success. Both managed to hit the Atlantean teen. Where a single blast had been easily ignored, Thaelia more readily felt the double blast, though she still proved able to resist any serious ill effect, at least this time.

Cubist, Jubatus and Velocity met on the Day of Wrath when they battled the robot Beekeeper. But, I agree that using the term "friend" might be a bit much for such a brief meeting (even for two who could view that brief time as being much, much longer).

Mercs 4 and 5 are going to try a combined attack on Glamazon again. This time they both hit! So and DC 22 Toughness save.

Velocity regarded Ana a moment as the woman offered to allow any of them to make a speech to the crowd. The speedster recalled the impromptu speech she had had to give on New Year’s Eve during one of her stops with some US military personnel. While she had managed to do well with that speech, she was not so sure any speech by her now would be quite as good. "Well, I'll think about it while I search the plaza and the surrounding area, but I am not sure the crowd would understand me all that well, seeing as I don't speak Portuguese." Glancing back at Foreshadow and Graft, she then added, "Anyway, I am going to get to my search. If I don't find anything, I will probably get out among the crowd on the dance floor for a bit to keep an eye on things from there." With that, Velocity was off in a blur of yellow, speeding around the area that Ana had indicated as the location for the fireworks display setup. After a few seconds, the speedster had searched a large area of the plaza and some of the buildings around it. Thus far, she had not found any sort of device like those that had been used before. But, as she passed through a section of the plaza towards another nearby building, the yellow clad young woman spotted the singer, Luiza, who had been at the site of the tear gas attack against the police chief, and then sung those revolutionary songs afterward. Skidding to a halt in front of the singer, the speedster gave her small smile. "Hi there. Planning some more tear gas attacks?"
-
Merc 1 is down, go ahead and post IC.
-
Well, Velocity will first do a Search of the Plaza and area immediately around it (Taking 20 for a 23). With her quickness, that should not take a lot of time. Then she will indicate she will take a position in the crowd to keep an eye on things, where she will be dancing. She gets a 26 on her Perform: Dance check. She will try to regularly make Take 20 notice checks of what is going on around the area (here quickness making them take only a fraction of a second: ie free actions). Of course, if there is an opposed roll, she will need to roll.

Giang felt a sense of relief as her maneuvering allowed her to avoid being struck by the second volley of fire from the remaining four mercenaries. While her forcefield had been able to absorb most of the hits she had taken thus far, the soreness along her left side was a clear reminder of the time so far that it had not been so effective. Continuing to gracefully weave through the water, the Asian teen arched over the rough line the mercenaries had formed in setting up their ambush, coming back down more level with them as she turned and sent another blast of water towards the one who had come closest to hitting her. Once again, her aim was exact, and the blast of water slammed into the man's back, knocking him forward into the low wall he had been positioned behind and into unconsciousness.

Round Two: 22 Tsunami (bruised, 2 HP) 20 Glamazon (unharmed, 1 HP) 20 Beta Merc 1 11 Beta Merc 5 11 Beta Merc 4 6 Beta Merc 2 Tsunami continues the same defensive attack shift as last round, while taking 10 to hit Merc 2, and he is totally out. Glamazon is up.
-
GM As the initial barrage of fire proved ineffectual and two of the mercenaries easily fell to the two teenagers' counterattack, one of the remaining mercenaries keyed his radio. "Alpha, this is Beta. We are engaged with the two girls, two members down." After a brief moment, a cold, hard voice replied over the radio. "Maintain contact and keep them occupied, we are almost done. Manta 2, proceed to Beta's location and extract them." "Understood sir." The mercenary replied as the pilot of the mini-sub similarly acknowledged the order, though he somewhat doubted that they could last until the mini-sub reached them. All the same, he tried to track the movements of the Asian teen again, but his blast was well wide of the intended target. Meanwhile, two of the mercenaries who had fired at Glamazon during the ambush watched as she easily put down one of their comrades. Having seen how easily the Atlantean had shrugged off the previous attacks, one of the pair glanced over to the other. "Let's see if she can take a simultaneous hit!" He stated over the radio, before he focused back on Glamazon and waited for his companion to be ready to fire as well. Both men fired at the same time, hoping two blast timed together might overcome the Atlantean's durability. However, the mercenary who had suggested the tactic missed with his blast, and while the other managed to hit, it proved no more effective than any previous attack. The last remaining mercenary steadied his weapon as he took aim once more at Giang. But while his attack came quite close to hitting the Asian teen, her defensive maneuvering still allowed her to avoid the energy blast.

Merc 1 shots at Giang, missing horribly. Mercs 5 and 4 decide to try a combined attack on Glamazon. Merc 4 manages a hit, but Merc 5 misses, so Glamazon ignores the hit. Merc 2 then shots as Giang as well, getting a 23. Normally that would hit, but not with the defensive attack shift Giang made this round.

Giang had listened carefully to the Roman traitor as he reveled what he knew of the Serpent People's plans, including the information that a number of them had infiltrated the city as beggars. She was rather shocked to learn that Subito had apparently been captured, glancing over at Cerys briefly before focusing back on the Roman. When he had finished and Kazra offered the suggestion that they should try to rescue Subito, the Asian teen gave a small nod. "I agree. We must make an attempt to rescue Subito. In the process, we can possibly learn more about the Serpent People and their plans, and perhaps even uncover a means of further disrupting them." "But, I believe it may be best for one of us to remain here. Both to ensure this one," she indicated the Roman before them, "is not miss treated, and to try to root out more of these Serpent People spies that have infiltrated the city." Giang stopped there. While she felt comfortable enough making the suggestion, as the new student among the group, she felt it was not her place to suggest anyone for the task.
