Velocity shut the door behind the robot as soon as he entered, turning to fully regard the new arrival, though her goggles had let her keep a close watch on him even when she was not facing him. Thankfully he continued to show no signs of hostility, returning her greeting in a rather formal fashion. Keeper of the Essence of Time? The speedster thought, somewhat troubled by the title, given the situation with the Stopwatch. But she kept a friendly smile on her face as she racked her brain for anything she might have heard about Hronous, a task she was able to perform in a millisecond. Velocity recalled an article she had read in the Daily Word (after all, it was easy for her to read pretty much everything she could get ahold of), where Jessica Jaggers had interviewed Hronos, that helped reassured her that he was one of the good guys. Taking the offered hand, the speedster gave him a warm smile as she replied. "A pleasure to meet you as well Hronous. I read the interview you gave Jessica Jaggers." As Hronous produced another part of the crystal device and explained how he was searching for other parts to it, the speedster gave him a small smile. "Well, there is no need to search the plane." She replied. "We do have piece of that crystal aboard and were in the process of looking for the other two as well, which is why we intercepted you." "I have…encountered a device similar to this crystal before, and given the potential danger that one posed, I wanted to be sure that the pieces of this one were secured before they could fall into the wrong hands."

Velocity has Well Informed, so she gets a free Gather Info check to see what she might know about Hronos. Not a great roll, she got a 18

Velocity looked out the windows of the cockpit as the robot maneuvered in front of the Pegasus and seemed to indicate his desire to board the aircraft. "Well, at least he did not just start shooting first." She commented as she signaled back, pointing towards one side of the aircraft where there was a side door. "Bring us to a hover." She indicated to Steed. They were at a low enough altitude that opening the door would not depressurize the aircraft, so coming to a halt should make things even more stable as they let the robot aboard. Then in a blur of movement, she was gone from the view through the front window, reaching the side door and waiting for the aircraft to come to a halt before opening the door and stepping back slightly to allow the robot in, just in case it did prove to be hostile. "Hi there. I'm Velocity of the Freedom League." She shouted over the winds.
-
Well, if there was such a major, reoccurring opponent, would not that person be near the top of the list of suspects in the old team's disappearance?
-
Velocity moved out of the way as Steed came over to take over at the controls of the Pegasus. While the aircraft was slower than her by a considerable amount, it still capable of flying at 5,000 MPH, which was considerably faster than the object they were following. When the Pegasus pulled up alongside the humanoid figure that was clearly a robot, Velocity frowned slightly. "Well, at least it looks like a robot." She replied to Steed’s comment with a slight edge in her voice, memories of the events of the Day of Wrath coming back to her briefly. "Actually, one of my best friends in the League is an android that joined around the same time I did." She then added more casually. As Steed suggested it was up to her to do something, the speedster gave a slight smirk. "Well, its flying, not a lot I can do right now. So we need to try to either get it to land or come aboard so we can see what is up with it and these shards."

Velocity had kept a close eye on Robert when they took off towards Freedom City. The young woman did not like seeing him in such discomfort and pain, wondering if there was some way of further isolating the piece of the device that they had on board to possibly remove its effect on him. She was also becoming somewhat worried about what might happen when they had more of the pieces. Could the effect on Robert become even more severe? The speedster was pulled from that thought as Robert let out a moan and stated he could feel something, before he clutched at his chest, releasing the controls for the hypersonic jet. Velocity quickly grabbed the control in front of her to keep the Pegasus level while turning to look over at Robert, concern on her face. "It's near? Where?" She asked, preparing to try and turn the aircraft in that direction to find where it might be. "Once we find this one, I think we are going to need to figure something else out for finding the last part." She added, worried about the effect the shards were having on Robert.

Sergeant Fullerton's eyes widened slightly for a brief moment as Revenant easily hoisted a couple of the thugs into the air. "Thanks, there are a couple of paddy wagons just outside." He stated as he jerked a thumb back over his shoulder towards the entrance Revenant had used. "I'll get a call out to one of the detectives running this investigation and have them meet you there." Starting off in that direction, Revenant and Crimson Tiger first passed through the area where the area where the spectators had had to pay their admission fees for the event. Several other officers were still in the room, securing several of the men Revenant had seen when she had come through with Freddy and Harry. Outside, the two heroines found more than a dozen squad cars, several police vans and prison transports, all pulled up next to the old factory. More than a dozen officers were still outside, many armed with assault rifles trained on the building looking for any possible threats on the upper floors and roof. A few officers came over to take the unconscious thugs from Revenant and get them handcuffed and put into one of the transports. It was a moment later that a woman in her mid-thirties approached the pair. She was in plain clothes, but had on a vest with the words POLICE on the front and back, her badge prominently displayed as well. "Hi there, I am Detective Kimberly Stine. Thanks for your help. I understand you wanted to chat a bit about?" Down in the darkness of the building's basement, Bloody Mess' Homunculus slithered along the ceiling at incredible speed towards the sound of the voices that were echoing through the darkness. As he drew closer to the sounds, there was a faint bit of light that became evident through what appeared to be a hole in the wall. There was also the sound of dripping water from beyond the hole. Moving into the sewer tunnel, the Homunculus was able to spot the faint light from the flashlights reflecting off the walls further down one end of the tunnel, from where the voices were coming from. It took only a few moments for him to catch up with the lights, which turned out to be Harry and his companions. Hector and his men continued to lead Harry through the sewer tunnel, away from the old factory, with the Homunculus following close behind in their shadows.

"That's fine." Velocity replied with a small smirk at Steed's comment about her not needing a ride. "Not like we will be going anywhere but in the Pegasus anyway." When Steed took out the fragment, Robert was visibly affected, with Velocity taking his weight as he leaned on her for support. The speedster had a concerned look on her face at his reaction to the fragment. "I'm sorry." She whispered back, her voice laced with concern. "Hopefully we can get this finished up quickly and get it away from you." "In the meantime, I have an idea." She said in a louder voice as she made sure Robert was steady on his own. She was then gone in a blur of movement, reappearing almost instantly, but with a lead-lined metal box from the Pegasus. "Here, let1s stow that in here." She said to Steed, holding out the box. "Then we will take off and head towards Freedom City and see if Robert can get any better read on where the next piece is."

Seated in the nearby co-pilot seat of the Pegasus, Megan smiled slightly at Robert's comment and clear excitement at having the chance to fly the sophisticated aircraft. The young woman had ridden in them a number of times during missions with other League members, even though they were actually slower than her. With her starting to spend more time as Velocity lately, she was beginning to think it might be time for her to take the flight training program offered by the League, for situations such as this where she needed to accompany others who were not as fast as her on a mission. Taking the phone from Robert when Steed called and asked to speak to her, Velocity listened to the other woman's proposal, a frown coming to her lovely face at Steed's words. "Well, I am glad you think our laws are so tiresome that you can just ignore them." The speedster replied in a cold tone. "Such an attitude really does not make me want to try to help you." She paused briefly, very briefly to everyone else, even if it lasted some time for her, before continuing. "But, I can see what I can do. That is not a guarantee that I will be able to succeed, but if you provide us with assistance in stopping something that could be a substantial threat, that could go a long way in helping getting you leniency." "In any event, we are almost there. Head out to the airport, and bring the piece you have with you. We are going to see if Robert can use it to try to find the others."

GM As El Heraldo gained altitude once again, listening for any signs of trouble and scanning the dark streets below, his superhearing was the first to alert him that there might be someone nearby needing their assistance. He picked up several voices yelling in panic, though he could not quite make out what they were saying. Turning slightly in the air towards the sound, the brightly clad patriotic hero spotted a fait glow surrounding a building more than a dozen blocks to the east, along with a column of dark smoke rising into the air.

"I would believe our trip to the Lost World would have been ample instances of me fighting for 'real." Giang replied to Subito's comment. "After all, we were trying to prevent the annihilation of three civilizations at the hands of the Serpent People." As Serge raised the issue of where they should probably head next, the Asian teen was quite a moment as she considered the options voiced. "The Boardwalk sounds like a good option." She then stated, as she prepared for Kat to make another teleport jump, either in that direction or wherever the group decided to head next.

Tsunami gets a 20 for her toughness save (or a 18, if she is unable to get the benefit of her Defensive Roll feat). Either way, it is just a bruise.

Megan responded to Robert’s passionate kiss, as her sense of time slipped, making the kiss seem far longer than it actually lasted. When at last they pulled back apart, she gave him a wide smile at his comment. When Robert took his seat once more, teasing her as he finished his tea, the young woman crossed her arms and grinned. "Well, only if you want to." She replied, before becoming slightly more serious once more. "Well, I could try to carry you, but I don't think that would be particularly comfortable for that long a distance, even if it as only a few minutes. And I would hate to accidently drop you or something." She shuddered at the thought of that. "Perhaps the better option would be we drive to London, where the Freedom League has one of its field offices. From there we could teleport up to the Lighthouse, and take a Pegasus plane back down. That way we have something to get us wherever else we need to go somewhat quickly."

Tiff, Velocity is taking a few free actions for some Quickness assisted Take 20 Notice checks around her (also thanks to her goggles 360 degree vision).

Velocity smirked slightly at Madame Marvelous' general dismissal of her presence. One would think a supervillain would be a little more up on the superheroes in Freedom City, particularly ones that were part of the Freedom League. The speedster had a slight urge to just zip over there and crack the villainess across the jaw and bring this to a quick end. But this was Merge's "show," so to speak, so she instead waited to see how things went with whatever she had planned. Though she appeared to be focused on Madame Marvelous, her arms crossed in front of her, Velocity took a moment to take note of where Crimson Crush and Little Marvelous were, as well as scanning the room for anything out of the ordinary.

When Robert talked about Steed, Megan noticed his slight blush, but paid it little heed. After all, she had had a number of boyfriends, or even guys she had been interested in, before she had met Robert, and even a few during the time following their break up a year ago. "Yeah, I know." She replied to Robert's description about Steed. "I did some quick research on her after I got a telegram from her asking for a meeting in the Aguimes." The young woman paused a moment, then went on. "Well, it seems that Steed has the ability to look back in time to see past events at a location, or connected with an object. She recently stayed at the Aube Blanche, in the room you stayed in when you had the Stopwatch. So she was able to 'see' us there to learn about the watch." Megan was quite as Robert went on, talking about how he had not wanted to deal with Steed and his concerns about getting involved with anything to do with the Stopwatch once again. The young woman felt a pang of guilty at what she had come here to ask Robert to do. "Yeah, I met with her. She has part of what looks like something similar to the Stopwatch Robert. It has apparently been causing temporal disturbances ever since you came into contact with the Stopwatch, almost as if it 'woke up,' after being buried in the desert for several thousand years." She paused, taking her mask, wig and goggles off as she looked over at Robert, sympathy and caring apparent on her face. "I am sorry to bring all this up again Robert, I know that the whole incident was difficult for you. I….just did not realize how hard it was." She paused a moment, then went on. "Though, I would not quite say that it nearly destroyed us, seeing as we were not together at that point. If anything, it helped reconnect us." In a split second, she was over next to Robert, embracing him, her head resting on his chest for a moment. She then looked up into his eyes. "I love you too Robert, and I certainly do not want to see you hurt. But…I can't ignore the possible danger this new artifact represents, especially if it is connected with the Stopwatch." "There are other parts to the device Steed found, and I need to try to locate them before they fall into the wrong hands. Steed has what she think is a potential lead on another part, only it is in the States, where there is a warrant out for her arrest, so naturally, she has no interest in going there. I need to find a way to try to track the other parts."

Velocity breathed a small sigh of relief as the gigantic creature finally had enough and choose to fly away. No one was hurt and the creature seemed to not have sustained any serious injuries itself. As the flying island of rock started off once more, the speedster continued along below on the ground, easily keeping pace as she made several loops around the area to check for any other possible threats. Luckily, nothing else came after the group, and they reached the research facility that UNISON had set up on the island, or more accurately, the one that the organization was reusing. When the lead scientist began his examination of the samples his team had gathered, along with a sample of the Simurgh's blood, there was nothing to do but wait until he was ready to share what he had learned. For Velocity, that was not an easy thing. Thought the analysis only took a few minutes, to the speedster that few minutes seemed far, far longer. By the time the scientist had finished his analysis, Velocity had begun showing clear signs that she had been standing around too long with nothing to do, but she quickly focused on what the man had to say. "Well, that does not sound good." She replied once he finished explaining what he had discovered and his theory on what was going on.

Giang looked around the hidden area the high priest showed the teenagers. She had to agree that the location likely would serve very well for looking for the contact passing information to the Serpent Person spy. The Asian teen only hoped that they were not wasting time needlessly waiting to try to intercept the contact, when they could be instead trying to find the Serpent Staff. In any event, they likely needed to wait until Subito returned before embarking on that goal. Looking over at the others after the high priest left, Giang spoke up, "I believe I will wait here awhile just in case."

After leaving Steed ant the Hotel Castrello, Velocity started off towards England, quickly accelerating to top speed once she was out running across the surface of the Atlantic. The trip took little over a minute, but far more than enough time for the speedster to think about the situation. While looking forward to seeing Robert, she was somewhat hesitant about asking him to help her with looking for the parts to this other Stopwatch, given the hold the other had had on him. But he might be the only means she had of easily tracking down the pieces. Of course, once they had them all, there was still the problem of what to do with it, as they had not been able to determine a means of destroying the first Stopwatch thus far. We will deal with that problem when it comes. The yellow clad speedster thought as she reached the shores of England. A dozen seconds or so later, she had arrived at Robert’s estate, speeding around to enter the grounds from the side and approaching the large home from the back. The technology in her goggles spotted Robert out on the Veranda, and he appeared somewhat irritated. The, Velocity was skidding to a halt a short distance away from Robert, a wide smile on her face. "Hey there! Sorry to drop by unannounced."

I do not believe Quickness (mental or otherwise) can be used to speed up Mind Reading, which requires opposed rolls. I picked up some ranks of that to represent Dee's lightning quick mind. As for the Subtle Mind Reading, that is so people do not know you are reading their mind, so Attractive is not counterproductive with that at all. As for whether on might get the bonus from Attractive on a Bluff check to make someone think about something you want them too....well, I think it could apply, in the right circumstances, but that would be a GM call. Anyway, not why I put it on the character anyway.

As always, thanks for the great comments SC! I have made the corrections regarding the Mental Sense, the Comprehend (not sure how that got so off), and in the Psychic Array (dropping Mind Switch and Mental Duplication as they were problematic and/or against house rules most likely). I also added a note that the Sustained extra in Telepathy is for the Mind Reading portion, as the Communication portion is already sustained in duration. Based on our chat discussions, added a perception based Paralyze attack, ie: shutting down the synaptic pathways in the target. As to the forcefield/telekinesis, no, those are not subtle. And I do realize the TK is ranged based, which is fine, she likely won’t be using it offensively much early on. Okay, figured I would put up the crunch for Synape's build so it can get picked apart here before I take things over to the Character Bank for her to be approved. I am sure there are going to be some issues regarding her psychic array, so best to get them worked out now. Hello BType, welcome to the site (or welcome back as I saw you originally joined awhile ago). As Ari said, it is necessary to have the cost of various powers listed to make double checking easier. It is hard to tell, but it looks like you have more points spent under your Devices than you have points to spend (unless there are some that are alt powers of others). But beyond what Ari has said regarding the background you have, there is possibly a bigger issue in that it does not fit with the Freedom City timeline. Based on what you have, your character would have been orphaned in 1999 (when he was 12). But, at that time, the Moore had been out of office for some 7 years already. And, Callie Summers had already been active as the second Raven for at least 6 years, and likely longer than that. Assuming the refs would be okay with the background, your character would need to be older to keep it as it is. (And, if you do make him older, then the stuff about Claremont would need to come out, as Summers did not open Claremont until 2001.) If you wanted to keep him the same age, the changes I might suggest are that after his family was killed in 1999 (which would have had to be in Freedom City, as Duncan and Callie had moved there from New York by that point), Drake became Duncan’s ward and learned about Callie being the new Raven, and managed to convince Duncan and Callie to train him to fight crime. Maybe Drake joined Callie as a sidekick, but at the very least, Drake would have been on the road to become one of the first students at Claremont when Duncan opened it in 2001.

Tsunami had been ready for another electrical attack from Devil Ray, and was thus caught a bit off guard as the armored mercenary instead flew towards her to try and grab her. She almost was able to dodge out of his way, but he managed to catch one wrist and then the other, before taking off into the air, carrying her with him. The Asian teen gritted her teeth slightly as Devil Ray's powerful grip tightened on her wrists as he pulled her to face him and made his boosts. When he reveled what was on the ship, the teen face hardened. "Then you are completely amoral." She replied to the criminal. "Any deaths that result from that cargo being delivered will be on your hands." "But I do not believe that will happen. For while you are busy dealing with me, my companions will stop that ship." Glancing down briefly at the waters below them, Tusnami reached out with her power, pulling a large amount of water up from the ocean towards the pair. As the water reached them, the Asian teen wrapped it around them both, trying to create currents that could help pull her free from Devil Ray's grasp. But the armored criminal proved too strong, maintaining his vice-like grip.

Tsunami will pull some water up to the pair and try to use it to free herself from DR. She gets a 20 on the powers check.
