He misses his toughness save and is out. Go ahead and make an IC post.

Thursday, May 3, 2012 Varna, Bulgaria 5:04 PM (Eastern European Summer Time (EEST); (3:02 BST)) Velocity sped into the port city of Varna at about the time she had told Captain Thunder it would take her to arrive. She could have been there sooner, but had needed to take care of a couple of things before she had left Cambridge, not the least of which had been the voice mail she had left for Robert. In the message Megan had left for Robert, she had apologized that she would not be able to come over to see him tonight as planned due to a heavier homework load than expected. She also had stated she was starting to stress over a major paper that was due towards the end of the semester for one of her classes and wanted to put some time into working on it so that she would not have to over the weekend. She did indeed have a major paper that would make up the majority of her grade for one of her classes, but Megan had actually all but finished it weeks ago (one of the many benefits of superspeed). But pretending to be stressed about finishing it and her other homework at times, something one could easily expect from someone taking the class load she was, had proven to be a useful excuse for having time apart from Robert when she needed it. But despite her confidence that Robert would not question the excuse, Megan was truly starting to tire of the need to lie to him. Maybe I can try to get him to talk some about his thoughts for what the future might hold this weekend. The young woman thought to herself. That might at least help me decide if now might be a good time to be honest with him about my powers. But the speedster was pulled from those thoughts as the building where the UNISON team was operating from came into view. Focusing on the task at hand, Velocity sped towards the building, passing easily through the door to the building by vibrating her body’s molecules and was then up to the third floor of the building in a fraction of a second. Passing through a door on the third floor as easily as the entrance to the building, Velocity's speed allowed her to quickly take in the occupants of the room beyond. There were five individuals, four men and one woman, spread throughout the two adjoining rooms beyond. The woman was seated on a somewhat battered couch that was against the wall facing the door. She was an attractive young woman that looked about Velocity's age and perhaps slightly taller, with a lithe build and long, platinum blonde hair. She was dressed in a skin tight dark grey bodysuit, with silver highlights, black gloves, belt and boots that came up to her mid thighs. Leaning up against a wall near the sofa was a tall, muscular man who was over six feet tall. He appeared to be a couple years older than Velocity, with a handsome face and short wavy red hair and clean shaven face. He was dressed in a similar dark grey bodysuit, his having green accents, and his black boots only going to just below the knees. The other three men were gathered around a table in the adjoining room. One of the three was a man who looked to be in his late twenties, about average height with a lean and wiry build. He had a thin mustache and a wide nose, and was also dressed in a dark grey bodysuit, with purple accents. Next to him was a man who appeared to be in his mid-thirties, about average height with an athletic build, dark brown hair (with a slight trace of grey) and a darker complexion that most of the others present. He was the only one not wearing one of the dark grey bodysuits, but instead was dressed in civilian clothes, a pair of dark brown slacks, dark grey sweater and a black leather jacket. The last of the rooms' occupants also appeared to be in his early to mid-thirties with short brown hair and was also over six feet tall with a muscular build. He wore one of the dark grey bodysuits, with dark brown accents, and had a holster on his belt which carried what appeared to be some sort of energy weapon. But perhaps the most striking thing about the man was that the left side of his face was metallic, with a deep red eye. It was this last man who first noted Velocity's presence, a fraction of a second after she had entered the room. As his right hand started to move towards his holstered weapon, Velocity slowed herself down, so she was no longer a blur. "Hello there, I'm Velocity." She stated quickly giving a wave that was more of a blur of her yellow gloved hand. "I'm the representative from the Freedom League." She then quickly added as the man in the leather jacket had also started to reach into his jacket, the others in the room tensing slightly. The man with the half metallic face had gotten his weapon half out of its holster when the speedster had made her introduction. Halting the motion, he regarded her for a brief moment before setting the weapon back into its holster and removing his hand from its grip. "You are as fast as they said you would be. Welcome to Varna." He replied in heavily accented English. Though she was not positive, Velocity thought that he might be Greek. "I am Spartan." The man continued. "The other team members are Flechette." He gestured to the woman sitting on the sofa. The woman gave Velocity a wide smile. "Bonjour Velocity, a pleasure to meet you." "Clansman." Spartan continued, indicating the large redheaded man standing near Flechette. The large man gave a small nod in the speedster’s direction. "And Powerplay." Spartan finished, indicating the thin man at the table with him. "Guten tag fraulein." Said the man identified as Powerplay with a smile that did not quite reach his eyes. "Also participating in this mission is Agent Salazar," Spartan then added, indicating the man in civilian clothes at the table, "a former member of the Spanish Centro Nacional de Ingeligencia before he came to work for UNISON." "Buenaas noches senorita." Agent Salazar stated with a charming smile. Velocity gave everyone a warm smile in return as they were introduced. "Very nice to meet all of you." She stated before she focused back on Spartan. "So, I only got the basics about the mission from Captain Thunder. I hope you don’t mind filling me in on the details." "Of course." Spartan replied as he gestured over to the table, Flechette and Clansman making their way over as well. "We have gone over some of the information already, but were waiting for you to finalize everything."

Megan felt the bite of Robert's words, but at the same time was certain that what she was seeing was primarily the effects of the Stopwatch. While Robert might indeed still be in love with her, or at least heartbroken from their breakup, the young woman was certain he would normally be rational enough to realize the danger their being together would represent and understand the sacrifice they both might have to make. "I am sorry Robert, but as long as you are holding that watch, there can be no future for us." Megan replied as a quickly put her mask, wig and goggles back in place. "I had hoped I could reason with you, but that watch clearly has too strong a grip on you at the moment." As Robert grabbed his bag of medical equipment, Velocity moved back over next to him, her right hand shooting out once more with a loud *CRACK* as it broke the sound barrier. But just as in the lab, she came nowhere close to connecting with the attack. Damn it, where are those agents the older Robert talked about? I could sure use their help right now. The young speedster thought as she prepared for Robert's counterattack.

Velocity tries to hit Robert, still can't bring herself to though, only getting a 19.

He gets a 16 for his toughness save, another bruise and dazed once more.

Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK
Thevshi replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Wading Way
Megan smiled slightly at Amir's slight exasperation about whether anyone bothered to read the orientation handbook. "Yes, I did read the handbook. I just did not focus on the part about parking as I had already found my apartment nearby." The young blonde smirked slightly at Amir's comment about knowing the "type" of guys she dated. After ordering a tofu entrée, she replied, "see, that right there tells me you don't know as well as you think you do. 'Type?' You need to stop listening to my dad so much, as I am sure he pretty much lumps any guy I have ever dated into one category. I have dated a number of different types of guys." She then gave a little shrug of her own as Amir talked about the power of some of the high performance cars he had. "Well, I guess I won't know until I get out there and give it a try will I?" -
Velocity gets a 63 for initiative.

Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK
Thevshi replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Wading Way
Megan smiled as Amir suggested she contact HR about a parking subsidy or for a spot in one of Summit's garages. The young blonde gave a small dismissive waive of her hand. "Oh please, I was not complaining or anything, just stating a fact. I would hate to take a parking spot from someone at the office that really needs it. The place I am renting is within walking distance." Her smile broadened at his suggestion that she come to the race track sometime and drive one of the high performance cars he had there. "And who says I haven't driven a Lamborghini or the like before?" She asked with a small arch of her eyebrow. "Just because I did not choose a car like that for myself, doesn't mean I haven't dated guys who have." "But, I certainly would not be opposed to the idea of visiting the track someday." -
A slight feeling of apprehension came over the young woman as she began to pick up her pace slightly towards her apartment. Velocity had been on reserve status for two years now, and while she had been called to assist the League a few times, it was relatively rare. What could they be calling me for? She thought. A short while later, Megan was at her apartment, and as soon as she had the door closed behind her, quickly fished out her communicator. "This is Velocity, responding to a call." She stated, speeding her voice and tone up slightly as she did while in costume. "Please hold Velocity, connecting you to Captain Thunder." Came back the somewhat hollow voice of Cynthia, the League's robotic receptionist. There was a few moments pause and then Captain Thunder's voice came on. "Good morning Velocity, or I guess it is afternoon over there. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, though that should not really be much of a surprise." The older hero said, a smile evident in his voice. "How are your classes going?" "They are going just fine. I am actually done for the day." Megan replied, instantly wondering if she might come to regret saying that last part. "But I am sure you didn't call just to see how my classes were going." "No, I am afraid not." Captain Thunder admitted, his tone slightly apologetic. "We could use your help to act as the League's representative on a mission alongside some UNISON superagents over in Bulgaria." Yeah, that is what I thought. Megan thought to herself as she paused a moment before replying, "Umm..what is the mission and when would then need me?" "The team is already on site in Varna, a town on the coast of the Black Sea. UNISON has reliable intel indicating that in about six hours, members of an organized crime group based in Georgia will be delivering some weapons grade plutonium to a group of superpowered mercenaries walking for a presently unknown buyer in Varna." "You would be assisting the UNISON team in securing the plutonium and, if possible, capturing the super mercs as well. You will probably be back in England before midnight your time." Megan was quite for a brief moment as she considered what Captain Thunder had said. Given the time table he had indicated, not that she believed it would work out quite as smoothly as he believed, meant that she would have to come up with some excuse for not going over to Robert's tonight. But the young woman knew that this was not something she could just turn down. "Okay, I can handle that." She replied, her hesitation probably not even noticed by Captain Thunder given how brief it had actually been. "Good, I knew you could rely on you." The older hero replied. "I will send you the information on where to link up with the UNISON team in Varna." "Okay, if you're able to get word to them, let them know I should be there in about twenty minutes or so." Megan replied. "I'll talk with you when the mission is over Cap." Lowering her communicator, the blonde young woman gave a small sigh before making her way over to her bag and digging out her smart phone. Glancing at a clock on the wall, Megan noted that Robert was likely busy in one of his lab sessions right now, so he would be unlikely to answer his phone when she called. Good, the young woman thought, its easier to lie to a voice mail recording than the person themselves. Taking a deep breath, she pulled up Robert's number and called.

At Myrmidon's words and touch, Giang's eyes refocused as she glanced over towards him and gave a slight nod. Taking a quick glance around her at the various armed martial artists still on their feet, the Asian teen marked their locations as she took a slight step forward. Once again she swept both hand out towards her side, making a slight turn to cover the entire area needed. Ten quick bursts of water shot forth as her hands went, streaking off in various directions towards their intended targets. A pair of the water jets briefly curved around Myrmidon, turning back in as the shot towards targets that stood past him. Giang's attacks proved unerringly accurate once more, as they each struck their intended targets. The force of the blasts was enough to knock each of the martial artists off their feet, sending them sprawling unconscious around the rooftop. Now the only opponent left standing was the leader of the martial artists, who was still shaking off the effects of Bloody Mess' previous attack.

Tsunami will stunt the same AOE attack she used before, Blast 8 (Extra: Targeted Burst Area (50’ radius), Selective; Flaw: 0 Range; Feats: Accurate 2) {26/26PP} She will use her last hero point to remove her current fatigue (which will be right back after this power stunt). She will Power Attack -2 atk/+2 dam and Defensive Attack -3 atk/+3 def. She takes 10 to target all the remaining minions. All the remaining minions fail their toughness saves, so they are out. Mess is up (after he makes his saving throw).
-
Okay, once I get the toughness save for Myr and Mess (both DC 19 lethal), We are now on… Round Seven: Myrmidon: 37 (Unharmed, 3 HP) Tsunami: 28 (bruised, fatigued, dazed, 1 HP) FoS group 2 (swords): 25 (2 active) Bloody Mess: 24 (4 bruised, dazed, 4 HP) FoS group 6 (swords): 23 (2 active) FoS group 5 (staves): 22 (1 active) Fang Leader: 21 (2 bruised, dazed) FoS group 3 (staves): 10 (1 active) FoS group 4 (swords): 7 (4 active) And Myr is up!

GM The whirlwind of attacks that Bloody Mess sent towards the armored martial artists proved to be too much for the man’s defenses. While the golden armored man blocked several of the blows and elbows, he missed the massive uppercut that Mess finished with, which proved to be a critical mistake. *WHAM* The blow echoed across the dark rooftop, as the armored man went flying backward from the powerful hit. One of the other martial artists was unable to get out of the way, as the golden armored man slammed into the second man hard. The second man was sent sprawling onto the rooftop, completely unconscious. But while the golden armored man was clearly dazed, he was also not completely out of the fight as he managed to get his feet back under him after knocking over the other man, trying to regain his senses. But even as Bloody Mess looks at the results of his attack with satisfaction, two of the sword wielding martial artists rush forward to engage him. The first one misses completely with his twin butterfly swords, as the experienced fighter manages to sidestep the attack. But the second manages to score a hit with the sharp edge of the matched swords. Elsewhere on the roof, the two remaining martial artists wielding staves rush towards Giang, each from a different direction. The Asian teen tries to account for both attackers, easily dodging the first to arrive. But while doing so, she briefly loses sight of the second, who manages to land a solid blow onto her upper back. This time, the thin sheen of water swirling around the teenager does not stop the full brunt of the impact, and Giang staggers slightly forward, hurt and apparently dazed. The four remaining martial artists armed with swords split into two pairs, one moving towards Myrmidon, the other towards Bloody Mess.

FoS group 6 moves in to attack Bloody Mess, getting a 12 and 15 on their attack rolls. The second just hits, so a DC 19 toughness save for Mess (lethal damage) The two remaining guys with staves move to attack Tsunami, both scoring hits with a 23 and 26! (luckily they are minions and can’t get critical hits). Tsunami’s toughness saves are: 28 and 11, so from the second hit she takes a bruise and is dazed. She easily makes her concentration roll to keep her forcefield up with a 27

Again with the innuendo Cape! They haven’t been that type of busy!
-
Well, he does just about as good as he can, with a 28, which is still another bruise and dazed. Go ahead and post IC! (ah, you already posted IC) Toughness save for one of the other martial artists that the leader slams into due to knockback: a 7, so you knock out one of them as well.

GM The group bound for the northern bank of the river had a much longer drive to make, having to head east for about forty kilometers until they connected with a roughly paved highway that ran north/south, which they followed to the north towards bridge which would allow them to cross the Messalo. John had opted to ride in the cargo HUMVEE, which was being driven by Steve Wilker and also had one of the security team members riding inside as well. Wilker, a young man in his mid-twenties, had initially tried to engage John in conversation about what interest he had in humanitarian work, but had quickly given up on the attempt. Lais Tambe was driving the Land Rover for the northern group, with the other security team member riding shotgun. Dr. Conte and Nurse Cofield were in the middle seats of the vehicle, with Giang and Marcus were in the very back seat of the Land Rover. Now that he found himself in such close proximity to the Asian teen, and in a rather enclosed space, Marcus realized that there was something about Giang that was magical in nature, but he could not quite pinpoint what it might be.

GM Once the two teams were finalized, everyone began boarding their respective vehicles and in short order the two groups were on their way. Blue Jay found herself sitting in the back of the South team’s Land Rover. To her amazement, Edge was seated next to her, the older hero successfully resisting the urge to just rush ahead of the group. Gorrell was driving the vehicle, with Lt. Lidimo next to him in the front passenger seat. Dr. Rangan and Nurse Myers were in the row of seat directly in front of Blue Jay and Edge. Kvesic and the other security team member were in the cargo HUMVEE. Being far faster than either of the South team’s vehicles, Jubatus opted to just run alongside as they made their way down bumpy dirt roads towards the river and the first village on the south bank. They did not have to go very far before they were able to see the Messalo River though the trees alongside the road. Even as far away as they were, it was not hard to tell that the river looked “bloated†with excess water. It was not much longer before they had reached the first village along the southern bank of the river. The small village was located close to the banks of the river, and as such had suffered a considerable amount of damage in the flooding. It was evident that several structures closest to the river had been completely destroyed, while a few others had partially collapsed. Standing water was still present among most of the remaining structures at what appeared to be just over knee level. A number of men were moving about the crude structures, apparently trying to gather up what they could salvage from them. There were a few structures at the southern end of the village which were on higher ground and appeared to have been spared the flooding. Most of the rest of the villagers were gathered near them or under large canvas tents which had been erected on the high ground nearby. To the west of the village was an area cleared for agriculture, much of which was also flooded. As the two Danger International vehicles came to a halt on the high ground to the south of the village, a few male villagers started to make their way over. Lt. Lidimo quickly exited the Land Rover and moved forward to greet them, speaking in a language that was clearly not Portuguese. The men responded in the same language, but only half seemed to be paying attention to the lieutenant, as they were staring in apparent awe at Jubatus as the humanoid cheetah stepped into view.

GM Though he managed to gain a bit of ground in trying to move up to assist the gang leader in fighting the yellow clad speedster, the last of the Zoom using gang members was still well behind them. Given the superheroine's close proximity to his leader, the gang member could not risk firing his sub-machinegun at her. The other hero that had fallen well behind him however, was another matter. Turning slightly, the gang member aimed his sub-machinegun behind him and fired a burst at Siphon. However, his aim was not quite what it could be given the considerable distance between them. The bullets still passed far closer to the superhero than he might otherwise have liked. Up in front, the gang leader once again raised his right hand and aimed a blast of dark energy at Velocity. However, the blast came nowhere near the yellow clad speedster, blasting a small chunk of pavement out of the street over near the curb well past her. As the various gang members on motorcycles tried their best to keep up with those out in front, the one closest behind Siphon raised his pistol and fired a shot. His aim proved a bit more steady than his Zoom using companion, and he managed to hit the superhero.
-
ZDF 3 fires his SMG back at Siphon. He gets a 23, but, because Siphon is so far back, that is -6 on the attack roll, so he just misses. The gang leader fires another dark blast at Velocity, missing by a lot with only a 20. Dark Fist 5 also fires on Siphon, also getting a 23. Even with the -4 for the range, that is still a 19, so a hit. DC 18 toughness save for Siphon, and then its his action.
-
The chase continued down the streets of the West End, Velocity easily able to control the pace of things between her speed and acrobatic skill. The gang leader still remained in the lead on his motorcycle, so that is where the yellow clad speedster remained. Thanks to her goggles, she could see that Siphon had taken care of another of the Zoom using gang members, but was not between the last of them and the ones on motorcycles which were well behind. Trusting the other hero to adjust as he needed to, Velocity focused back on the gang leader, moving up next to him once more. Her left hand shot outward once again with a loud *CRACK*, but once again the young Asian man had begun veering away at just the right moment and her supersonic punch missed once again. She remained even with him as he straightened out his course once again.
-
Velocity was just as fast as her name made her sound, speeding down several blocks of city streets and doubling back just as Silver Spider was coming into view of the two superpowered mercenaries. The yellow clad speedster wasted no time, zipping right up in front of the muscular man that had thrown the hubcap at her before she had changed. Her right hand shot out at supersonic speeds, a loud *CRACK* sounding as it broke the sound barrier. *WHAM* The impact from her punch shook nearby windows as she solidly connected with the supervillain’s jaw, his head snapping back as he went flying backward at least a good thirty feet before slamming into a wall. "Hi there, I'm Velocity. You two might want to consider surrendering before things really get bad for you." She commented, pausing a brief moment at the spot where she had hit the supervillain.

(tentative for Round 4) Gang Leader/ Velocity (4 lengths) ZDF 3 (14 lengths) DF 5/Siphon (4 lengths) DF 4 (5 lengths) DF 3
