  1. "I would certainly appreciate that." Giang replied when John offered to teach her how to drive a motorcycle another time. "While I am not certain I would ever own one, knowing how to operate one might be a useful skill to have at some point in the future." The Asian teen paid close attention as John went through the instruction on what she needed to do and be mindful of when riding on the motorcycle with him. Once John finished, she nodded to indicate she understood and began putting on the helmet he had given her as he got on the motorcycle and started the engine. Giang's small smile in reply to his comment was lost behind the visor of the motorcycle helmet, but she otherwise wasted little time before climbing on behind him. She quickly put her feet exactly where he had told her to and wrapped her arms around his waist to help secure herself. As the motorcycle started forward, the teenager felt a slight sense of fear mixed with excitement at the sensation, her arms around John's waist tightening ever so slightly for a few moments. But it was not long before Giang relaxed, growing more accustomed to the situation and having complete confidence in John's ability to operate the motorcycle. Her arms loosened back to a more normal grip as she focused on doing what John had told her she would need to during turns and the like, while also taking a chance to admire the unobstructed view of Freedom City's skyline as they made their way towards the West End. Even with the moderate amount of traffic present on the freeways this evening, it did not take the teens long before they reached the West End and John had pulled into the parking lot for the Espadas School for Self-Defense and Swordsmanship. Giang climbed off the motorcycle, having to readjust slightly to the sensation of being still and on solid ground once more, while John shut off the motorcycle. Taking off the motorcycle helmet, the teen shook out her long black hair a moment before looking back up at John. "That was-quite an exhilarating experience." She said with a small smile. "So, as I am sure you are aware, today marks the beginning of the Year of the Snake." Giang stated as the pair started off on foot towards Freedom City's small Chinatown. "That name of course derives from the twelve-year cycle for grouping years in the Chinese calendar, naming each year in the cycle after one of the twelve Earthly branches, or animals of the Chinese Zodiac. The years are also grouped into a ten-year cycle, which is referred to as the Ten Celestial Stems, or also the Ten Heavenly Stems. The Celestial Stems are further subdivided, with two stems connected to each of the five phases, or elements of the Wu Xing. The new year just beginning is a Gui-year, making this year is a Guisi, or Water Snake, year."
  2. So, not really trying to accomplish anything with the talking other than delay a bit to give Omen a chance to be suited up before any action starts But, I cam make a Diplomacy roll or something if you like. Also, making a Gather Info roll (via Well Informed) to see what Velocity knows about Smash. And got a 31!
  3. Velocity skidded to a halt between the bulk of the passengers on the deck and the large supervillain. She was not sure how many there might be, but for the moment, this one seemed like the biggest threat. "Underwear?" The speedster replied with an affronted tone. "The name's Velocity, you know, from the Freedom League. And I think you're sorely mistaken about who is going to be in trouble." "But I tell you what, why don't you get whoever is running this little scheme out here so I can talk with him and we can see if this can't be resolved without having things get unpleasant." The heroine did not have much faith in being able to possibly talk things out, but she thought she should at least try before she just started punching the villains into unconsciousness. But she was more than ready to fight if need be.
  4. Giang gave John a small smile as he greeted her. "Good evening to you Mr. Smith." She replied, following the formality John had used, and which he followed with most of the others on campus. The Asian teen stood to her feet in a graceful, fluid movement. "You are very welcome," she replied in response to his thanks for inviting him to the festival, "the festival would not nearly be as enjoyable were I to go alone." When John mentioned going on his motorcycle, Giang gave a small nod. "Thank you." She replied as she took the offered helmet. "I appreciate your concern, I would have been sure to request proper protective gear as well." As the two started over towards the student section of the parking lot, the Asian teen spoke up once more. "I should probably mention, I have never ridden on a motorcycle before."
  5. Well, not the best place to try to change, but could be worse I suppose. Megan thought to herself as she slipped into the broom closet and took off her shawl to get to the hidden pocket in which she had hidden her Velocity costume. Normally, the change would have taken a fraction of a second, but the tight space of the broom closet had her moving a bit more slowly than she otherwise might. Still, she was changed rather quickly, and hid her dress, heels and shawl on the upper shelf of the closet and then stepped back into the passageway. Checking that the coast was clear, she was then off in a blur of movement, looking to try to get up to where the muscle bound member of Larceny Inc had been heading.
  6. Sunday, February 10, 2013 Early evening The sun was starting to make its final descent to the West of Freedom City as a cool evening breeze stirred across the grounds of Claremont Academy. Being a weekend evening, the school's Main Qaud was quiet and empty, save for one lone figure. Giang Trang was sitting on one of the wooden benches along the outside of the circle of grass in the center of the open air courtyard. Standing in the center of the grass circle was the statue of a proud-looking Dr. Charles Claremont. The Asian teen was dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans, a red shirt and a light black jacket, the cool evening air not bothering her in the slightest. Today marked the beginning of the Chinese New Year, the start of the Year of the Snake. The start of Chinese New Year had been one of the few holidays Giang had known growing up in Vietnam. Freedom City's small Chinatown in the West End was having a festival for the start of the Year of the Snake, so the Asian teen was looking forward to the opportunity to attend, having asked John Smith to accompany her. So, she was sitting in the Main Quad waiting for John to arrive. As she sat waiting, her posture perfect as always, the Asian teen projected a calm, almost serene presence, despite the faint feelings of excitement she had early brought under control with some meditation.
  7. Megan was only half paying attention to what Erick was doing, as she was looking for an easy way to slip away into the crowd. So when he started sprinting off towards the port side of the deck, the blonde young woman did not think twice, but instead let herself get pulled off to starboard by some of the crowd. Once she had gotten away from Erick, she made her way out of the crowd as it tried to head towards the stairs to a lower deck, and made her way through an open doorway to the interior of the massive yacht, looking for a place where she could change into Velocity in order to get back out there and try to get things back under control.
  8. Cool, I just didn't want to presume it would stay with her.
  9. Supercape, I had Megan pick up her bag (ie large purse) in which she has her Velocity costume hidden, before all this happened. I'll leave it to you whether that bag stays with her or gets left on the floor of the confrence room.
  10. "Positive contact,' take me in? What in the world are you talking about? Who the hell are you?" Megan asked the man in front of her as he expression changed somewhat, her tone now rather annoyed. Her mind had begun racing about what might be going on, but standing in the middle of a conference room, she was somewhat limited in what she could do. But before she could come to any sort of decision, or get an answer to her questions, Megan felt a pair of stun beams slam into her back, catching her off guard. While the young blonde was actually rather resilient, and likely could have shaken off the beams normally, the impact from the two at the same time, together with being caught off guard, was enough to knock her forward as everything went black and she collapsed to the floor asleep.
  11. Sure, Megan will take the fall (and earn the hero point )
  12. Megan regarded the man who had been speaking with Baron Katastrof earlier for a few moments, not exactly sure what why he was asking her these questions and what it could possibly have to do with the inspection, or anything else for that matter. But, as unusual as the questions were, the young woman could not really think of a reason not to answer them. After all, she had just been talking about Robert with Katastrof, who had told her that Robert was at one of his other facilities. "Well, I know a Lord Robert Harrow." She replied.
  13. When the ship suddenly lurched forward, Megan managed to remain on her feet as everything came to a halt on the dance floor and then someone's voice came over the speaker system, someone the young woman was confident was NOT the captain. Wonderful, just what I need. She thought to herself as her mind began to race with thoughts on how she could get herself clear to change and deal with this mess. The last thing she wanted was some large hostage situation. People were starting to run around in panic, thought Erick sure seemed to be relatively calm about things as he made a comment about the event being one of the better he had been at. "You really need to get out more." Megan replied back with a somewhat grim grin. "Maybe we should get off the deck?" She suggested, still not sure how she was going to slip away from Erick.
  14. Yeah, Warp can put a nice hole in the side of the sub, we'll say 5x5 or so
  15. The security guard looked at Mess skeptically for a moment, then looked over at Hound before he looked back at Mess. "I don't know anything about a missing girl, but I can take you to see my supervisor." A short while later, the two private detectives were in a small office in the basement sitting across from a large, rather overweight man in his mid-fifties who had introduced himself as Don Paulson. "So, you're looking for some missing girl you said was here awhile ago?" He stated after the two had sat down. "I don't have any reports about any missing girl, nor anything about any contact with the police about one either."
  16. Yes, but it has not necessarily restarted just yet KD. (you did mention enjoying the refreshments and that someone else was coming to continue).
  17. Tsunami gets a 24 for her initiative. (and I was not really worried about getting surprise on him, not much Tsunami can do where she is right now, particularly with her power locked up keeping the ship from moving)
  18. Megan gave Baron Katastrof an understanding nod as he excused himself for a moment and focused on speaking with his employee who had come looking for him. The young blonde stood off to the side for a few moments while, they had a brief conversation in Swedish. When the Baron turned and apologized that he had to be leaving, Megan gave him a smile in return. "I am sorry you have to leave Baron." She replied as he moved over to address the rest of those gathered in the room. She then made her way over to her seat, picking up her bag from where she had placed it before heading off to use the restroom before the meeting got started once again. Megan had just returned back to the conference room when the employee who had come looking for Baron Katastrof arrived once more and came over to speak with her. He mentioned some inspection by the Ministry of Energy, which the young woman did not think twice about, before asking her to confirm her name. "Oh, yes, of course. Megan Howell." She replied.
  19. Nope, a 10.
  20. Understand about Tsunami being able to hear the captain (or not being able to as the case may be). I thought she wouldn't but figured I would check. As for spotting Devil Ray, Tsunami JUST makes her notice check to spot him at 100' out.
  21. Tsunami had been in a ready stance as she had faced off against one of the gunmen, but then Warp quickly put him down, along with the other two that were in the room. Relaxing slightly, the Asian teen gave Warp a small smile before looking down to study the water below. "They are close, should be here in moments." She stated. "But the vehicles they are using make it difficult to tell how many there are." She then added. Looking back up, Tsunami glanced around the room a moment before focusing back on Warp. "Perhaps we should try to force them to take this vessel back to the surface." She stated. "That will make it much more difficult for them to escape, and the police will be able to send boats out to intercept."
  22. Well, don't really need it till we are about to enter combat, as we will both need a bit of "open" time to get somewhere to change But, for when we need it, Velocity gets a 59.
  23. Megan continued to glide across the dance floor along with Erick, who, despite his warning, was doing quite well at keeping pace with her. Though, she was not particularly surprised by that, after all, he was a world class athlete with incredible balance and agility, he likely just had to focus on the steps a bit more than if he was an experienced dancer. One of the many reasons Megan continued to enjoy dancing so much was that it was an activity that forced her to remain at a normal speed. While running around at supersonic speeds and battling supervillains was thrilling and her work at Summit was "fast paced," it was nice to be able to slow down from time to time and just be in the moment.
  24. Yep, all three are out cold.
  25. Seek, this is still the same encounter, so you can still use the stunted area teleport attack
